yes i'm aro but i'm sorry i cannot pretend that i don't love shipping characters. Shipping fictional characters is one of my favorite things to do which doesn't mean i de-value other types of relationships, it just means that i love romance and love the concept of being in love and valuing other people in all kinds of different ways. This is fun for me and i like my way of having fun!

man after ep2 i found myself thinking a lot more about this first scene with sakurama and suzukiri, because i think it finally became clear to me why their designs were one of the first things that really grabbed me
like it was specifically their eyes in these close-up shots that i couldn't stop thinking about—
something about this was just delightful and so so so compelling to me, and at first i wasn't sure what it was, because yes their eyes are drawn in very unique ways but it's not like these design choices (glitter gem eyes and dead inside eyes) are ones i've never seen before
but i think it's the fact that they're shown side by side that really made them so striking to me, kind of like showing the two faces of the hero industry at once
anyway. still chewing on this very much. the character designs are all just so good to me

i think one of my fave things abt the tmnt fandom is theres so many ppl who have varying ideas abt the turtles' genders and theyre all so right. Agender? Absolutely. Nonbinary? Sure are. Transmasc? Yes. Transfemme? Of course. Cis? So cool. Queer or questioning? I see it. Genderfluid, bigender, demigender? So true bestie. I love it so much.
youre so incredibly correct for this
ITS VERY FUN TO SEE PEOPLE WITH OTHER HCS AND IDEAS ABT THE TURTLES THAN MY OWN!! its great to see how people interpret them :3

I just want to say that I read To The Victor Go The Spoils every few days religiously. Oh my fucking god, that one drives me absolutely feral. He is such a horny boyfriend, if Imelda ever tried that again I’m sure he would quit the team. You’d sleep in his room every night with him wrapped around you after he’s had his fill and his roommates would just expect you to be there. A silencing charm and the curtains around the bed closed, they know exactly what’s going on. Rooming with a filthy boy.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU JAHFKSjgkajsAKFJSKGJ
That fic is easily one of my favorites to this day, it was so fun to write and I love a good needy boyfriend trope >:))
Sebastian's roommates can never catch a break after the fact- it's a given that you're in bed with him all the damn time. If he ever forgets the silencing charm, there's instantly like 6 wands pointed at his bed to do it for him. Will they ever get a peaceful night's sleep ? Probably not. Will Imelda ever go to such lengths again in the name of Quidditch ? Absolutely, but Sebastian will go down swinging before he ever puts himself through that shit again LMAO

kny x tokyo ghoul au
was thinking abt following tokyo ghoul's storyline and making nezuko get organ donor ghoul-ified like kaneki but on second thought that seems a bit boring. the slayer marks (tanjiro's specifically- that one frame in the red light district arc where he looks like hes absolutely lost it) made me think of the sort of insanity thing with centipede kaneki when he started eating ghouls. (nezuko's bout of literally losing control of herself beating daki is probably a bit closer tho) dont know what to do with that. tanjiro being human and having to keep nezuko safe with her new life as a half-ghoul is pretty cool but i dont know. could make it different

Waited until after the strike week to talk about this but I had like a whole post about how we should be positive about the new ATLA and then uh.
We got the Percy Jackson special. Shitty live action movie. New streaming adaptation that promises it will be more accurate and well written and what the fans want. And then it comes out and it's... not that.
Well at least we can go back to the trailers and pretend the show's not out yet while we enjoy the vibes presented there.

more he who drowned the world: i said that the first book felt like it was written specifically because of how much the author liked the side plot with the prince and his eunuch guard. now i feel like actually, the whole duology was written specifically so that the protag could be turned into an explicitly trans character in this second book. like, imo in the first one we were in “woman disguising herself as a man to get an advantage, which definitely has trans undertones” territory, but now the way zhu thinks of her body and past are unmistakably transmasc. i love this shift because of how much this book is digging into the dark and gritty areas of embodiment and gender with all its characters. but i’m also curious what was holding it back before

normally the 11th hour "this random side character was actually your BIOLOGICAL FATHER!" twist would be dumb contrived drama fare, but...I think it actually kind of makes sense for the warp effect.
as other people have mentioned, ultimately it's a show about how alex has passed pain on to other people due to his OWN sexual trauma and mental blocks. and of course, that trauma had to come from somewhere - we already knew it came from his mother and religion, but it's very interesting to learn that THAT started as his mother's response to being betrayed by a man and left to fend for herself.
now we can plainly see a huge web of parallels, or better, repetitions. alex's sin is the same as the sin that begat him. and alex's guilt is the same as teacher saran's guilt. to an extent, alex's unwillingness to forgive teacher saran is the same as jean's unwillingness to forgive alex.
i'm not sure yet how those stories of forgiveness (or lack thereof) play out. but what's clear is that this show is telling us about the responsibility we have for others. loving someone, being with someone, puts responsibility on all of us to take care of them. otherwise, it creates hurt, especially for those who are often cast in a more critical light by society (women, queer people), and that hurt carries forward into the lives of our children.

i’m very happy with where i ended up on xarrai’s story and character and arc but it IS funny to imagine if they had stayed just some dude. you have a party full of people with influence and connections and then like… here’s the local stoner bard who moonlights as a courtesan i guess?

I'll elaborate later but for the core essentials: The Sun and Moon Show (as well as the other shows of the same team) have a theme about figuring out one's self and how the choice to grow or stagnate further impacts those around them.
Its seen with Roxanne, in her initial self-obsession, lashing out after getting freedom from the Chip, and then how she's been growing as a person and parent currently.
Its visible in Funtime Freddy and how lost be was without BonBon and Shadow Freddy in the want to matter, to do good but finding power in fear and darkness at Freddy's rejection of his magic.
Sun and Moon in so many ways have had things get to this point from trying to figure out who they are when not a part of the same form. Of Sun initially relying on fulfilling the role he was made for to the best he could to determine how he acts and interacts with others (chiding them on language, conversation topics, withholding reactions of anger when stressed, etc). With Moon trying to go as far from who he was before, when he had so little control over what he could do, how he could feel, and how it to this day drives him into making plans and tech for security.
Eclipse coming from Sun, still being a part of Sun that is again and again rejected. . .. it honestly fits Moon's assertion that Eclipse isn't a person, why Eclipse can't stand to be entirely alone even in a timeline where he succeeded. It's easy to miss with how he's acted further on, but there were times Eclipse had been clingy, brittle, more stressed and clawing to importance than a mastermind.
To know what could get under Sun's circuits in one line, if that was an insecurity he knows best... Dark Reflections my beloved, I may be getting incomprehensible but more to be said, for certain.
