Hey there! is it okay to request Hades, Poseidon and Thor with a female reader who is from the anime Fairy Tail (if you've seen it), with a 'Meeting the Family' and somehow got roped into all the crazy that happens in the guild.
Or
The three characters with a female reader who is human who doesn't care that they are gods and just loves them for them, not because they were gods and told them straight to their face. Bonus if the character gives reader affection because of that answer.
Type of Writing: Request Characters: Hades, Poseidon, and Thor Name: {Character} x Erza Scarlet! Reader Who Introduces Her Students Requester: @koushiro23
A/N: I kinda mixed the two scenarios together, and I chose the reader to be themed after Erza Scarlet, since having the 'meeting the family' troupe reminded me of them being like a small family. Also, this may have mentioning of blood, just warning y'all!

💀 You had met Hades' family quite early in your marriage, since when you guys were dating and courting, you didn't speak to anyone of the relationship, not wanting to cause a clash
💀 Hades would listen to you speak about your three students, Lucy Heartfilia, Natsu Dragneel, and Gray Fullbuster with such pride when they defeated someone without your help, and hearing how prideful you were of them, he asked for you to meet them
💀 Your students were fairly nervous, but they showed it differently
💀 Lucy was trying to smile through it, Natsu was just being a turd and asking so many questions, making Hades sweat nervously, and Gray would hide behind a cold exterior, reminding him of his younger brother, Poseidon
💀 He smiled as your students sat down at the table and introduced themselves, giving a small portion of their life stories as you scolded Natsu and Gray for acting like idiots
💀 Your personality and his clash at certain points, as you were quite impatient while he was very patient, it comes with raising three boys that all clashed in personalities
💀 Natsu was very excited about meeting Hades, but after a while, he began to dig deeper into your time together before eventually asking why you picked him, not wishing to sound rude, of course!
💀 You just chuckled and looked at the three young kids and looked deeply into your husband's eyes before saying
" I swore to never marry someone without any purpose in life, but, he was far different. Many Gods are very arrogant, and as you'd expect, get on my nerve quite easily, not him. He's patient, caring, and very tender when need be. I value that in him, and while some will oppose our connection, I could care less. He's my one and only no matter what. "
💀 Natsu gagged while Gray just stared at his food while contemplating your words as Lucy awed at your words, Hades on the other hand, was blushing and hiding his face with his hands, you never had been so honest, it was quite endearing

🔱 Poseidon and you often clashed, but you did fall back in line like a ball being dropped, it always did the same thing, it fell, bounced, and stopped
🔱 When you mentioned your students, Lucy Heartfilia, Gray Fullbuster, and Natsu Dragneel, were coming over to visit you, since you had been away for so long, he just nodded, determined to stay away from the younglings
🔱 But, he failed that really quickly
🔱 He heard a young voice shriek and one sigh in annoyance, something he could relate in doing whenever Zeus was going through one of his moods
🔱 Gray stared at the God of the Seas with equally dead eyes as Natsu hid behind Lucy, who was patting his head in an attempt in calming him down from his small attack
🔱 You came up from behind your husband and looked at the young students, making them look at you and smile as they went in to hug you, but, they didn't come close
🔱 Grabbing Natsu's ear, you scolded him for being so ignorant as to not be looking where he was walking and how loud he was being, despite your yelling being equally as loud
🔱 Anybody could view you all as a small family, with Gray and Poseidon being the dead father-son duo, Lucy being the only daughter just watching, Natsu being the spunky and wildcard-child, and you being the strict mother-hen who wants some peace
" Is that your husband, Y/N? He's the God of the Seas! "
🔱 You looked at the young girl and let Natsu's ear go as he groaned and rubbed it, trying to relieve some of the resonating pain your hold left
" Of course, why? " " Well, he's a God, you're a mage. Did the others allow this? " " So what if they did or didn't. Being different sub-species doesn't make us any less in love with one another. He may be a God, and I may be a mage, but love is love, no matter the person or their ranking in society. "
🔱 Cue the small hearts inside this man's ocean-coated eyes, shining slightly as you wrapped your arm through his as your students began asking you questions as you walked away to the meeting room Poseidon had
✧⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋄✧⋄⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋆⋄✧⋄⋅⋆⋄✧⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋆⋄✧⋄⋅⋆⋄✧⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅

🌩️ All he heard was quarreling out in the back of the garden, and while he was cleaning off Mjölnir, he stood up and began walking towards the noise, unaware of the trouble he was going to walk in on
🌩️ You were not expecting your students to appear, nonetheless with so many injuries on them!
🌩️ Lucy tried explaining that they had fallen down and landed in a bunch a couple miles away, but, unsurprisingly, Natsu made it sound like they were in a near-death experience while Gray just stood there, trying to ignore the idiocy of his fellow mage
🌩️ Thor stopped behind you and stared down at the three kids, making them back away, though, you believed you were starting to scare them, and when you asked what was wrong, Natsu just pointed behind you
🌩️ You turned around and smiled at your husband, making him nod and wrap his arms around your waist, pressing his nose into the crook of your neck as you blushed and hid your face from the onlookers
🌩️ The three kids looked at you in shock, why was the Nordic God of Thunder hugging you and acting so lovey-dovey here?!
🌩️ While you tried explaining it to them, Natsu all of the sudden busted his cork and began to damn near scream questions at the top of his lungs, making your husband and you glare at him, and once he saw that, he backed off before coughing and allowing Gray to take over
" Y/N, why exactly are you guys together? I mean to offense, of course, but, you guys are different sub-species, with far different life-spans, what made you do this? "
🌩️ You chuckled as Thor took a deep breath and made you speak up
" Why, Fullbuster, the reason is quite simple: Love. " " Love? " " Yes. While we may have differing life-spans and he may end up outliving me, the love we feel for one another will last forever. He has pledged his pure heart and loyalty to one another, despite the cries of protest from other Gods, including Odin's birds, who, funnily enough, now fear me! Isn't that ironic, Thunder? "
🌩️ The kids stood in shock as Thor looked up from his spot in your neck and just agree with you as he kept you embraced in his arms, chuckling lowly as they shacked with a mixture of confusion and slight fear of who you were now

It’s cold and dark out when Lucy rouses from her slumber. Though the forest they’ve set up camp in provides them plenty of shade, she can still tell that it’s far from sunrise yet, and as such, she should head back to sleep. Though she would like to, she knows immediately that it won’t come quick to her in this bitter cold.
She rolls over and inspects the rest of the tent, and she finds her suspicions are confirmed. Though Happy is still sound asleep—his thick winter coat helping him fend off the chill in the air—Natsu is nowhere to be seen. Perhaps her first instinct should be to panic, but based on the soft crackling of fire outside the tent, she has an inkling of where she might find him.
Careful not to wake Happy, Lucy unzips the tent and peeks her head out into the cool air, drawing Natsu’s attention.
Though she knew he would be safe on his own, it still comes as a relief to see him and know that he is okay. He’s made himself at home by a fire that he has lit, gazing into it like it holds the answers to whatever questions he has on his mind. He doesn’t say anything upon her appearance, but he does offer her a soft smile, and she takes it as an invitation to join him.
She makes herself comfortable tucked in to his side, revelling in the warmth of his body against hers as he rubs one hand up and down her arm to sooth her shivering.
“Sorry,” he murmurs, barely loud enough to hear.
He doesn’t elaborate on what he’s apologising for, but she knows that it’s for leaving her to fight the cold on her own in their poorly insulated tent. Though sharing his warmth is an unspoken arrangement between them, it’s not something he needs to apologise for, but in his repentance, he’s raising his body temperature higher than normal, and Lucy isn’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth.
“Can’t sleep?” She asks, nuzzling her nose into his shoulder in a way that is less than platonic but is overlooked by the both of them.
He shakes his head.
He doesn’t elaborate, so to fill the silence, Lucy speaks up.
“What are you thinking about?”
It falls quiet again as Natsu contemplates her question, but Lucy doesn’t mind.
She’s willing to wait forever for him, if that’s what it takes.
“A lot,” is the answer he settles on, and his eyes flick from the fire to her.
Though his response answers none of her questions, the shift of his gaze answers maybe more than she would like.
That’s what a lot of their relationship has become lately. It’s all unspoken words and stolen glances, and though that had once been enough for her, lately she’s been thinking about more.
Sometimes she wonders if he thinks about it too.
There’s an inking to ask him about it, but common sense reminds her that what they have is too good to be ruined by that, so she stays quiet, just the way she always has.
Natsu’s arm comes to wrap around her, pulling her even closer to his chest. It’s little affections like this that confuse her, that have her wondering if he ever wants more with her the way that she does with them.
Sometimes she wonders if this is just his way of telling her.
They stay there for a while, holding each other by the fire, the way that lovers do.
It’s quiet, and that’s okay, because the quiet is never a bad thing with Natsu. It’s comfortable, if a little unnerving, because Natsu loves to talk, but she simply puts that down to the late hour and the wealth of things that he has on his mind.
“Hey,” he murmurs, but it’s not a greeting; he’s simply trying to get her attention.
“Yeah?”
She’s not sure what she expects him to say. She’s not sure what she even wants him to say, but she listens anyway.
“Ya wanna go back to bed?” He asks.
Lucy hums an affirmative response.
Though she likes sitting out here with Natsu, she’s still a little drowsy—something that he seems to have picked up on after she’s been nearly falling asleep in his arms.
She whines slightly when he lets go of her to stand up and the cool air hits her skin, leaving her defenceless against the bite of winter.
“Did you wanna share my sleeping bag?” He offers, and Lucy surmises that it’s not just about the cold.
He’s weird and indirect like that. She’s never really understood why, but she thinks she understands him, so she accepts his covert offer of affections where she can get them because she would be remiss to reject a chance to fall asleep in a mess of tangled limbs and something that feels a lot like love.
“Yeah,” she breathes. “I think I would like that.”

More random Fairy Tail hcs
When i said Lucy has Zodiac freckles, I meant actual freckles, not magical.(although that is a very pretty picture and i do love it)
She was born with those specific patches, she has yet to make the connection, but her mother did
also she a perfectionist, she gets upset when she cant do things first try
After running away its mellowed slightly but she still refuses to accept and will keep trying until shes at the very least pretty decent
Laxus cant swim
he says its bc of his magic but he just never learned, he tried, and failed numerous times
Erza is allergic to raspberries
she learned this when her bakery was out of strawberry cake so she decided to try something new
that was the last time she did.
also she had braces as a younger teen
Mira has been been arrested a certain number of times she will not disclose, at least 3 tho
Levy used to headbutt people, growing up it lessened but it still happens
Freed cant ride a skateboard
that may be obvious and something you would never think about
but i needed to put the vision in your head of him falling off one
Gray was the clumsiest kid, he could NOT walk more than 5 feet without tripping
Contrary to popular belief, Fairy Tail is an official guild so Makarov has to keep records; Be it property damage, renovations, past jobs and who took them, and personal (criminal and medical) records
When he goes through the personal ones the amount of times he says “oh wow” is concerning (hes weirdly proud tho)
Gildarts always brings something back from his trips for Cana, sometimes its really cheesy father daughter things
Cana acts like it annoys her but she really does love it
Natsu 100% wears light up sketchers
im not sure how old Bickslow was when he joined the guild but he was illiterate up until after he joined
i like to think Makarov taught him with the help of Levy and Erza
Evergreen has perfect posture
idk why i felt this was important but it is
like actually, perfect
its upsetting
also she has two fake teeth, one of her canines (?) and one of her bottom very front teeth

Hi! I was wondering if you can do a request of the Gods (Poseidon, Thor, Loki, Apollo, Odin, Hades, Heracles and Buddha) with a Reader from Fairy Tail. Where the Reader takes them to meet the guild (Like meeting the family for the first time). How would they react to the guild, taking a quick liking to them. Where they throw their famous parties to welcoming them into the family. Even challenging them to a fight.
Don't have to do this if you don't want to!
-You smiled up at (Love), holding his hand as he gave you a small glance, a small grin appearing on his own lips, seeing you looking so happy.
-You were happy because (Love) had finally agreed to come and meet your family, the members of your guild, Fairy Tail! You had been asking him for a while now, as you had been dating for over a year now, despite not being able to see each other often, mainly because he was an actual god!!
-He would always make time for you, his most precious person, after you had found him last year, after he had an accident that made him fall from Valhalla, and you hauled his ass to your place and nursed him back to health.
-During his healing process he couldn’t help falling for you, you were so warm and kind, but also witty and smart, and you were so loyal, telling him all about your friends, your family; he knew that you were a good person.
-Those in the guild, at least the majority of them, had been teasing you, when you told them that you finally had a boyfriend, but when you didn’t have any photos and (Love) couldn’t visit often, many took to teasing that he was just in your head, something you didn’t take kindly to.
-There were a few, like Erza, who believed you, telling you that she wanted to meet (Love) when he could visit the guild, as she wanted to make sure that you were being taken care of- something you did thank her for, she was always such a sweet person.
-So when (Love) asked to meet those you’re always talking about, you cheered, immediately leaping into his arms, hugging him tightly, which made him chuckle softly, seeing you so elated.
-Now standing before the door to Fairy Tail, he inhaled slightly, hearing the loud shouting on the other side, but you didn’t seem bothered, this was normal as you opened the door, seeing most of the guild engaged in a giant brawl.
-However, when they door opened, revealing you and an unknown man and instantly everything froze, everyone staring with wide blinking eyes, stunned.
-You beamed brightly, “Everyone- this is (Love)!” Erza was the first one over, not surprisingly, and shook (Love’s) hand, being very welcoming as she greeted him, welcoming him to the guild hall!
-(Love) could easily pick out certain members, based on your descriptions of them, like Natsu, Gray, Erza, Gajeel, Makarov, Laxus, Elfman, Juvia, Mirajane, Lucy, and Wendy, greeting them when they came to meet him.
-Makarov was very welcoming, but did have that talk, as all members are his children, and he’s very protective of his children, which was amusing to (Love), seeing this old man threatening him to keep you safe, but he quickly seemed to realize, sensing his power, that this old man was way stronger than he looked and wasn’t to be underestimated.
-Natsu got fired up, hearing that (Love) was a warrior, wanting to fight, which caused others to shout the same as Erza came in, holding a strawberry cake, “Here (Love)- I got this so we could all celebrate together!”
-Natsu and Gray, who began to roughhouse, knocked into Erza, making her drop the cake, sending it to the floor and instantly everything froze.
-You grabbed (Love’s) hand, pulling him back behind the serving counter with Wendy and Lucy, as Erza went into rage mode, grabbing the two by their heads and throwing them, starting another brawl.
-(Love) couldn’t help but give you a small grin, leaning his cheek on his fist, “They’re all exactly how you described them.” You just grinned warmly over at him, leaning into him, “Thank you for coming with my today (Love), I’m so glad everyone got to meet you!”
-He pecked your forehead, making you beam brightly before he did express his curiosity on fighting some of your guild mates, curious on how strong they actually were.
-Many were stunned to learn that (Love) was an actual god, coming down from Valhalla to spend time with you on his rare days off, but that just got everyone fired up even more to fight him, to really test his strength.
-He wasn’t bothered that he was in an unfair fight, many of the members facing off against him, after he said he could handle all of them at once, which did cause some arguments. When they all charged, many were stunned by his strength and his skills- he was definitely a seasoned warrior as he easily beat most of them with ease. He even made it look easy fighting against the strongest members of Fairy Tail!! When he was announced as the victor, you couldn’t help but cheer, rushing into his arms. He smiled down at you, pressing a kiss to your temple, and despite just getting their asses kicked, your family all couldn’t help but smile, seeing how happy you looked. They all approved of your relationship with him, he was a good person.
            -Hercules, Loki, Buddha, and Apollo
-He quickly proved that he was a strong warrior, between his strength and his skills, by easily taking on the strongest members of Fairy Tail, all of them against him, while you were sitting by Makarov. You knew that he was showing off, taking all of them on at once, but you couldn’t help but smile and cheer for him, something some of your guildmates yelled at you for, calling you a traitor, playfully, which you thought was funny. They quickly knew that what you weren’t lying when you told them all that he was an actual god, but that of course opened up a new problem, as many of them claimed they were going to start training and wanted to fight against him again! You couldn’t help but smile, seeing him getting along with your family, as he playfully teased them that it would take them years to get strong enough to be able to face him, which caused another argument. You’re so happy that your family likes him and vice versa.
-Poseidon, Odin, Hades, and Thor

He Knows
Natsu isn’t sure if he has ever taken the ‘compatibility test’ before. When he was younger, he hated taking tests. The ones Erza would put him through to improve his reading and writing skills. There would be dangerous punishments for each mistake.
Tests were horrible.
Though this is different, more like a game, and it’s about Lucy. There’s no one who knows her better than he. So Natsu is positive about winning. Besides, he’ll never back down from a challenge.
“Cool! Let’s start then!” Jason shouts in excitement, “Are you ready?”
“All I gotta to do is answer all of your questions, right?” Natsu bumps his fists together with his signature grin, “That’s easy, bring it on!” Lucy smiles, kind of surprised to see his confidence despite his forgetful nature. But they’ll see.
She shows him thumbs up, “Best of luck, Natsu.”
“I’m excited!” Mirajane claps from behind the bar counter, followed by a wink. Lucy hopes she isn’t up to something again.
“There’s no way you can get more than one answer correct with your memory,” Gray declares confidently, taking off his shirt. “I’m winning this bet.” Jason cuts off Natsu before he can respond to the insult. He can only scowl before the game begins.
“What’s Lucy favorite col-”
“Pink.”
The answer comes before Jason can even finish the question. Quite unexpected, Lucy thinks. She receives a cheeky look from Natsu and blushes. He seems satisfied with her reaction.
What’s even more surprising is that he gets the rest of the answers right as well. Jason asks him about Lucy’s birthday, zodiac sign, favorite food and even clothing brand. Apparently, Natsu knows the constellation of her spirits too.
Which seems unreal. Gray’s jaw drops in shock, losing the bet would cost him twenty thousand jewels. Which means he would most likely have to cut that from his savings as they aren’t doing any jobs at the time.
After a while, even Jason struggles to find new questions. “This is the last one,” he finally says.
“In Lucy’s first novel, who did Iris fall in love with?”
This catches Lucy off-guard. The main character in her novel didn’t end up with anyone. The ending was kept ambiguous to satisfy all of the readers. There’s no way Natsu can possibly know the answer to that question.
And Lucy is fairly surprised at his answer.
“That’s something only Lucy knows. But if I had to say,” Natsu then gives her a sideway glance as he continues. “I’d say Noah.”
Jason looks at her for confirmation but she shakes her head, “As the author, I can’t answer this question, however, people are free to interprete the ending as they like.” She smiles, “Natsu’s answer should be counted.” Then she returns her eyes to him, he flashes her his signature grin.
She wonders if he knows that the character Noah was inspired by him.

From the moment you laid eyes on Gray Fullbuster you knew it was game over. All the nights you spent reading romance novels and seeing how all it took was one look before most of the heroines fell in love with a man. You thought it was bogus. There was no way you could fall in love with a man with just one look. That was until you saw him.
Gray Fullbuster was a well-known wizard throughout Fiore. You had heard about him well before you joined the Fairy Tail guild. You just didn’t expect him to look like that. When your friend and roommate Lucy introduced you to her group, the group she also wanted you to join. She introduced you to Erza first and you couldn’t help but think she was the sweetest person you had ever met. You didn’t know why Lucy was so afraid of her. That was until Natsu knocked over her strawberry shortcake and all hell broke loose.
Natsu was something else. He tried being intimidating but quickly changed his attitude once he learned you could fight. Then all he wanted to do was challenge you. Lucy tried to scold him, but you agreed, and soon kicked his ass. Everyone in the guild was impressed with your skills. Even Natsu when he regained consciousness.
“Wow Natsu, I can’t believe you got your ass kicked by a girl.” A voice said from behind you.
You turned around to defend yourself when suddenly the most handsome man you had ever seen was standing in front of you. Your heart did a flip and you lost all sense of what you were going to say.
“Gray I was wondering where you were.” Lucy said, trying to change the subject before another fight broke out. “This is my friend YN. She just joined the guild.”
All of a sudden his eyes were on yours as he looked you up and down. Your cheeks turned a bright red as his eyes finally met yours.
“Nice to meet you YN. You seem like a real badass from the ass whooping you gave dragon breath over there.” He said, motioning to a fired up Natsu who was about to hop the table to get his hands on Gray.
“It’s nice to meet you too.” You said as calmly as you could. Your heart was still racing from his mere presence.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few months had passed since you first met and joined Team Natsu. The missions you went on grew even more dangerous and there were some you didn’t know if you would complete in one piece, but without fail your team beat the odds.
Your trust in one another grew everyday and soon you guys could predict each other's moves. Sometimes you even knew what the other would do before they did it. You gave a new definition to the word close.
Your bond with your teammates was something you never wanted to lose. However your feelings for a particular teammate grew even more as each day passed. There were times you thought he felt the same, but then he would treat you like he did with all your other teammates.
It seemed like everyone knew about your feelings for Gray besides him. He was oblivious. Not even Natsu and Happy’s not so subtle jokes clicked in that handsome head of his. You were okay with it though. You figured he was just pretending not to know about your feelings for him so it didn’t ruin your friendship. Which you didn’t want to ruin anyways so you shoved your feelings down and focused on your friendship instead.
What you didn’t expect was to overhear a private conversation between Natsu and Gray about a month later at the guild hall.
“So what do you think about YN?” Natsu asked as nonchalantly as he could.
“She’s a pretty awesome fighter and a great friend.” Gray responded quickly, giving Natsu a weird look.
“Just a friend huh?” Natsu asked, trying to hint at something he shouldn’t.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Gray shot back.
“Are you sure you aren’t an idiot?” Natsu asked, his voice calm for once.
“What are you going on about this time?” Gray replied with confusion written all over his face.
“You really don’t know that…” he was cut off by Erza showing up and punching him in the stomach as Happy flew him a few feet away.
“Ignore him.” Erza said as she joined the table they were at. You quickly walked away before anyone noticed you.
Gray nodded and went back to what he was doing. The questions Natsu asked had him thinking if he really did just see you as a friend.
He couldn’t lie to himself and say he didn’t find you attractive, because he did. From the moment he first saw you he thought you were the most beautiful girl he’d ever laid eyes on. And then you beat the crap out of Natsu which just impressed him even more. But Gray didn’t believe in love at first sight. He believed in getting to know someone through and through and falling in love with the person they were.
And that’s when it clicked. It was slow and he didn’t realize it until he really sat down and thought about it, but he was in love with you. He had been for a while now. He loved everything about you. The way you smiled when you saw something that made you happy. The way you always had your friend’s back no matter what the situation was. The way you tucked your hair behind your ear when you were nervous. You were everything he never knew he needed and at that moment all he wanted to do was find you and tell you he loved you. So that’s exactly what he did.
You were on your way back to your apartment when you heard someone shouting your name. You turn around to find Gray running after you at full speed.
“Gray? What’s wrong? Is everything…” You were cut off as his arms wrapped around you and he pulled you into him, hugging you tightly.
“I love you.” He said softly as he rubbed his arms up and down your back.
“Wait what?” You asked, pulling back a little from his embrace. The look he was giving you was something you had always wanted to see.
“I love you.” He repeated as if he couldn’t say the words enough.
“Is this some kind of joke? Did Natsu put you up to this?” You asked as you scanned the surrounding area trying to catch the pink haired menace.
“What?! No! Of course not.” Gray answered, baffled that this was your reaction. His mind was racing. Did he not think this through? Did you not feel the same way?
“Natsu and I were talking and he asked me what I thought about you and at first I said you were just a great friend but then I got to thinking and I realized I’m in love with you.” He started, stopping to look into your eyes as he said, “I love everything about you. Your smile, your laugh, your ability to put everyone in the guild in their place. I just realized that you are everything I never knew I wanted or needed and I just had to come tell you.”
You didn’t realize you were crying until his fingers were wiping away the tears. You never thought he would reciprocate the feeling you had.
“Aww don’t cry, pretty girl. I didn’t mean to make you cry.” He said softly, pulling you back into his chest.
“I love you too.” You whispered. “Ever since I first laid eyes on you. I never believed in love at first sight until I saw you.” You said truthfully, your tears calming down.
He stepped back and lifted your chin so your eyes met. The smile he was giving you was so infectious you couldn’t help but smile back up at him.
“Say it again.” He whispered, closing his eyes.
“I love you, Gray Fullbuster.” You said, your smile growing with each word.
He opened his eyes, leaned down, and pressed a soft kiss to your lips. “I love you too baby girl.”
Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 198
I always love some casual Gray Lucy intimacy. But here particularly, it's very fascinating to me that Lucy ended up on top of Gray. When they fell, Lucy was underneath, so they switched sometime around when Natsu threw them off getting up. Cute.
Reminds me of the Galuna Island pitfall, actually. natsu shifted midway the fall to have the unconscious Gray end up on top of him rather than below.
Love the casual way Fairy Tail takes care of each other. Will always love that.
Tumblr media
Also, Natsu giving Lucy the cloak makes sense because it's raining quite heavily in the manga and probably fucking freezing. Erza could requip, but she chose to stay in her torn clothes because she's tough like that I guess askjdlaks.
Though, what I take away from here is that I do wish we did a bit more with Lucy's nature to prefer to be dressed more comfortably than the other girls. Not necessarily more modest-- just more comfortable. She'd wear provocative clothing/dress up nice if she wants, but her normal clothing are comfortable, simple clothes. Different from Erza's clunky armours or Mirajane's long dresses, she wants to be in short skirts and cute clothes, prioritizing comfort in the way a girl would prefer rather than stiff formal wear like her upbringing. It gives her a bit of distinction like Juvia, but both Lucy and Juvia's this bit of characterisation gets taken away once fanservice becomes the focus. But I want to think this scene is the remnants of some of that-- Lucy just doesn't want to be in a bikini in the heavy rain because she's tired and hurt and dirty and it's cold, it makes perfect sense for her. Erza doesn't mind, so she doesn't change yet. Lisanna is a bit more focused on everything else happening around her, so she doesn't particularly care about her state of dress.
Don't mind me, I just like to overanalyze how characters dress.
If Fairy Tail was in the modern world and the characters were regular teenagers part 2.
It’s Friday night and Juvia is eagerly putting on her make up before leaving for her date. While Lucy is there helping her get ready.
Juvia: I can’t believe Gray actually asked me out.
Lucy: I can! I knew he’d get around to asking you eventually. Which reminds me, Natsu owes me twenty bucks.
Juvia: How do I look?
Lucy: Like you’re not trying and that’s exactly how you need to look.
Juvia: I do? But I am trying.
Lucy: But you can’t let him know that. He has basically been ignoring you since middle school and now that we’re seniors and he’s asked you out, you can’t just fall into his arms.
Juvia: I can’t?
Lucy: Absolutely not. If guy thinks you’re easy, he will never appreciate you. You have to show him, that while you are interested, you aren’t just going to do whatever he wants.
Juvia: What if I want to do whatever he wants?
Lucy: Trust me, no girl wants to do whatever a guy wants all the time. You think I want to watch Natsu scarf down an entire buffet and then spend the whole night listening to him barf in a bush? In relationships both parties have to give and you better make sure Gray knows that.
Juvia: Okay.
Lucy: So where are you going for your date?
Juvia: Drive in movie.
Lucy: What are you seeing?
Juvia: Well I wanted to see something romantic but I know guys hate chick-flicks, unless they’re Freed, so I compromised that we see that new war movie about the solider and the nurse who travel across the world to get back to each other. It’s a love story but it’s also about honor and courage and mind-less violence. Something for both of us.
Lucy: Nice! And your brother is okay with this right?
Juvia: Yes. Last week we had a talk about boundaries. About how he’s not going to treat me like a little kid anymore, how he’s going to stop hovering over me, and how he’s going to give me privacy.
Ironically, Gajeel is downstairs listening to their conversation through the air vents.
Levy: Gajeel stop eavesdropping! We’re going to be late for your gig! Also that’s very creepy.
Gajeel: I’m sorry babe, but Juvia is going on her first date and I just want to make sure that she’ll be coming straight home tonight.
Levy: Will you relax? It’s just a drive in movie. Remember when you took me to one? We had such a wonderful time.
Gajeel: (Smiles at the memory) Yeah we did. The starry night, the way you’d cling to me each time someone got butchered on screen. I’d hold you to keep you safe, we’d kiss, it would get really warm and then we’d….
Gajeel suddenly becomes panic stricken and runs upstairs.
Probably no one cares but I need to rant about Fairy Tail now that I finally finished it. Because I feel like it gets a lot more hate than it deserves considering that almost everything it set out to do it did right. Starting from characterization and relationship dynamics. Those were fucking great. They're so fucking fleshed out, I love them.
And I've seen people complaining about Natsu and Lucy's relationship being dragged out but I feel they're missing on the fact that, first and foremost, they're partners, and no amount of romance or lack thereof can change that. Not long after meeting him Lucy jumps out of a window with no hesitation and no back up plan because she heard Natsu's voice and that meant she would be safe. That is not just a high level of trust, that is insane. And that's the entirety of their relationship. Making them romantic wouldn't change anything. It would just mean slapping a different label on it, because their relationship simply cannot be more deep and meaningful than it already is. (And this might be my aroace ass speaking, but I cannot imagine Natsu being stereotypically romantic. Even if they decided that they were, in fact, dating, I feel nothing would change in the ways they act around each other)
Also about Erza and Jellal, really. They're clearly meant to be together, they love each other. But they can't share any amount of time on the same room without it becoming awkward or dramatic because the amount of shared trauma between them is fucking astronomical. They need twenty years of therapy before they can do any significantly romantic thing and that's great. It's awesome! Just because you're in love with someone doesn't mean that being together will be easy! But that doesn't make their relationship any less meaningful or tender.
And the platonic relationships! The family ones! Makarov will risk himself and use the fairy law and Mavis tries to stop him. Tells him she has a plan that will lead to victory. Only for Makarov to say "I know this. But I need it now because the children are suffering and I won't wait a second longer" before obliterating an entire army.
Gildarts might be a womanizer but he's good with kids and he's so fucking delighted at having a child. He's so proud, and so embarrassing. I love him.
The raijinshuu are friends, and it shows, and I kinda love that the one to have a raging crush on Laxus is not Ever, the only woman among them. And the Strauss siblings have such a good relationship too. And thankfully don't fall into any of the worst sibling cliches. Levi and Gajeel spend the whole time they know eachother developing a relationship on the background, and by the time you pay atention they're sleeping together. That's hilarious. It's fantastic.
And speaking of Laxus, he goes from being a crazy fuck to incredibly cool and dependable without it feeling like he got a complete personality transplant. Partly because it soon becomes clear that most dragon slayers are, at any given time, one wrong turn away from completely losing the plot regardless of their best intentions. But also because his core values remain the same. Guild pride is the thing that drives him. When we first see him he's obsessed with making Fairy Tail strong so that it can stand proud on the face of anything. After taking a forceful journey of self discovery he learns that the guild is the sum of every individual person on it, instead of an abstract ideal of power, but the fact remains that the guild is the important thing to him. That's why he gets Natsu to defeat Hades instead of doing it himself. Because at that point he's not a part of the guild, so if he's the one to win it'd mean that Fairy Tail didn't, and that simply cannot stand.
All in all, it does such a good job of depicting good and complicated relationships with care and nuance, and makes a place for the ones that are bad. Lucy's dad has to work to get accepted back into her life, and that's amaizing. Where else have you seen a parent that doesn't get instant forgiveness after saying sorry? It's certainly not as often as I would like.
But I mostly feel like talking about the "darker" things, because it sometimes gets labeled as childish because no one dies (which is a big fucking lie. And I did not sign up for that. At all. I was fucking counting on it, and it was a LIE. And sure, Silver was technically already dead, but still) and like. I get it. Most main characters who "die" get miraculously saved. But that doesn't mean trauma in-world is any lighter.
On the seven year timeskip most people don't care about the characters that stayed behind, because they're secondary, and weaker, and not very cool. But we're told the reason the guild fell behing wasn't because it lost it's stronger members, but because they spent years upon years neglecting jobs for the sake of searching for the missing ones. And that's very fucking big.
But, again. The darker shit. They're not happy go lucky. They're not naive. They declare war no less than three times and every single one they make it clear that it is not about justice, it's about vengeance. About retribution. About "you don't fucking fuck with us". (And, lets remember, declaring war was fucking illegal).
They repeatedly say that they don't do good things because they're the good guys. They do the shit they wanted to do and it might just be that it could be considered good (and if not, they can convince people in high places to overlook it, pretty please. Because they have the friends to manage that).
Natsu has a whole argument with an outright assassin, and it never comes up that "murder is bad". It's framed more as a professional disagreement, rather than a moral argument. Natsu's main problem is that, while taking killing jobs, they call themselves a guild, the thing he asociates with family. The thing he considers sacred above all else. And since killing jobs are dirty (not unethical) they should, therefore, never touch a guild.
Before the final batle he outright says that killing kinda sucks but he will do it if he has to. And then kills around 900 people in a single second. Lucy is ready to kill. She's alone with Brandish in the bath and she's ready to shiv her in the neck. She might feel cornered, like this is the only option she has left. But in that moment she's ready and willing to see it through.
Invel is facing Gray and tells him "yes! Sucumb to the darkness so you may understand and join our purpose". Only for Gray to go "you dumb ass bitch. Do you think I care about going dark? Do you seriously believe I'm playing hero? All I care about is taking you down and if I have to be evil for that then that's how we roll".
All of that. I love that. They don't give a single fuck. Family comes first not because that's good, but because that's the way they are. They don't much care about what place their guild occupies relative to the rest of the world, or where any one member falls on a scale from good to bad. When all is said and done, all that mathers to them is the line between them and us, and they don't care to sugarcoat it.
And so many shows do that wrong. You get good guys who commit untold atrocities that go unaknowledged because they're the good guys! They can do no wrong! And I feel Fairy Tail should get more credit than it does on those grounds alone, but it does help that the character dynamics are good.
And I could write an entire (incoherent) essay on how Zeref is truly the most sympathetic villain I've ever seen. Everything about how he ended up makes perfect sense with his fucked up situation beyond a simple "I suffered so now I'm a self righteous asshole". You can see all the ways his mind had to twist itself into pretzels for him to maintain any semblance of functionality. If you're an hyperempathetic young man who suddenly and involuntarily kills anything he cares about then you really need to convince your brain that you don't care about anything, actually. Problem with that is that you're now convinced that it's true, because it doesn't work unless it's true. But the thing is that you also want to die, and you can't do it while actively wanting to die, so you need to die while thinking you don't want to. What's the best way to do that? You need someone else's help. And the best way to get someone to kill you is probably if they really really hate you. And the best way to do that is to become a supervillain, probably. Which also comes in handy for the whole "convince myself I'm truly an asshole" thing. And you end up becoming a calamity and fucking over the lives of anyone who could have loved you. But at least you can finally die.
And Mavis! The sweet looking, undeniably good person who turned out to be a ruthless strategist, quite detached from the world around her, who has a hard time weighing the value of individual human lives when there's a bigger picture to look at. But she's not an unfeeling stereotype either. She does love people, she wants them to have good things. But that doesn't change the fact that she doesn't relate to people the way others do, even if she could've lived her life without ever realizing (and I love that they tell us the wars the mages participated in were merchant wars. Just a random little tidbit, but yes. Wars do tend to be about money)
And this was a very long post and I said a whole bunch of nothing because I can't keep a train of thought to save my life. I just wordvomited a bunch of things that I liked. Long story short: characteryzation in Fairy Tail is top tier and I won't be taking criticism about it. You can try to critisize me though, I do enjoy arguing when I have enough braincells to put words together in the right order
Okay but like now we need Aquarius’ POV of Lucy’s night terrors after her key was broken???
(and maybe with the bonus of the first night terrors after Lucy gets her key back because holy shit you did not have to go that hard I am so hurt I need some fluff to put me back together—)
I literally love angst so much. I can't help but bring the pain lmao, but lemme try and make it up to you... well at the end. First lemme hurt you some more ;)
Aquarius was still watching after her girl the whole time
She was so sure that Lucy would have a huge support system that she wasn't worried, just curious
When she watched Natsu fail to console Lucy, Aquarius starts to get nervous
But she's trying to calm herself by saying she wasn't good at helping Lucy the first time either and that he'll get better with time
Then Natsu leaves and Aquarius is pissed
She directs all her feelings at planning how she's gonna murder Natsu for hurting Lucy
Then Fairy Tail disbands and Aquarius gets even more mad. Literally all the spirits are terrified to go near her (including the king who tries to hide from her)
Loke begs her for advice and how to help Lucy cause they can all feel her pain and no one knows how to help
So after yelling at him about his guild sucking, Aquarius teaches him everything she knows
Aquarius softens as she describes how she cared for Lucy back in the day. Loke swears he sees tears in her eyes but she leaves as soon as he catches a glance
That's when Aquarius finally breaks down. She finds Scorpio and sobs into his arms
She lets out everything she'd been bottling up. How she can't help Lucy, how she failed her, how much she missed her, how worried she was, etc. It goes on for hours
Every time Lucy has a terror after that, Aquarius cries as she watches. She hides it well and watches as the spirits take turns trying to help
When they come back, Aquarius usually yells at them about something they did wrong, but they all know she's just worried and missing her girl
Bonus
Lucy's forgets she has Aquarius back when she has her first night terror
So when Aquarius shows up and does her normal routine of taking care of her, Lucy loses it
She clings to Aquarius crying about how she missed her (even tho she'd told her a million times already) and how much she needed Aquarius
Aquarius just simply pats her head and tells Lucy that she will never leave her side again
They fall asleep cuddling that night
Also Aquarius does scream at Natsu for leaving Lucy. She has to drag Aquarius away while the mermaid is cussing Natsu out
Please may I have a Fairy tail request hurt to comfort fanfiction of when Juvia Lockser's male S/O who is Gray's older twin brother reassured Juvia that he still loves her no matter what when Juvia heard complaints from S/Os fangirls of how he could fall in love with a gloomy weather woman and stuff like that and it understandably greatly hurt Juvia's feelings judging by how the rain began to fall (S/O saw the situation and made the fangirls see sense that he loves Juvia and there is nothing that can change how he feels about her). S/O comforted Juvia afterwards..not caring if the rain will make him sick considering how long he spent looking for her. He still cared about Juvia..and he loves her.
(Juvia doesn't deserve any hate)
My Lovely Rain Woman
Series: Fairy Tail.
Character: Juvia and Gray.
Genre: Hurt to Comfort.
Proofread: Yes.
Reader: Male.
Notes: Ahh omg just reading this request a little sad! I love Juvia with all my heart she's my favorite Fairy Tail character. It's sad to see so much hate for Juvia within the fandom. She's just a girl who's in love and who has no problem showing her love for the person she's in love with.
Tumblr media
Juvia was out doing some shopping in Magnolia when she overheard two girls talking. "How can a woman like that be with him? She's so gloomy!" One girl had said to the other. "I know right? There's also rain wherever she goes!
And don't get me started with all the affection she gives him. He can't get a moment to breathe without her holding onto his arm!" The other girl spoke in reply. In that moment it was as though Juvia's whole world began to collapse.
Was what they said true? Did what they say was how her S/O thinks of her? Then just as she was taking all of this I'm the girl spoke again. "Not to mention she can be so clingy and obsessive! Honestly, I do take pity on her lover."
"Clingy." "Obsessive." It rang in Juvia's head over and over overwhelming her. It wouldn't stop it's all she can think of now. It was beginning to become too much for her she started to tear up and began running home. On her way, she passed Gray who had notched how upset she was.
"Juvia!" Gray had called out to her but kept on running not stopping until she reached the comfort of her room. Gray knew something was wrong so he ran back to the Guild Hall to tell you about Juvia. As this was happening Juvia finally made it to Fairy Hills and ran straight to her room.
She immediately fell onto her bed crying about what those girls said earlier. The words felt like a knife to Juvia's heart and kept on hearing the words the spoke in her head. All of this was too much for Juvia as began crying harder from their words.
Just then Gray had finally made it back to the Guild Hall to tell you about Juvia. You were with Natsu and Lucy just talking about some jobs you should take. Gray ran up to you immediately to tell you about the state Juvia was in.
"Hey, little brother I just saw Juvia a while ago. She looked very upset I tried to call out to her to see what was wrong. But she just kept running for whatever upset her."
This was a surprise to you what happened? Where's Juvia? Is she okay? All these questions raced through your mind. But just then Gray began to speak again.
"I saw her running off in the direction of Fairy Hills. She's probably already made her way there. So I would go there first to look for her."
Gray spoke to you again and you immediately got up from your seat. You then began to race out of the Guild Hall to go see Juvia. On your way out you shouted to Gray thanking him for coming to you and telling you about Juvia. "Thank you, Gray!"
You were worried so very worried about Juvia. Nothing like this had happened before so you could only imagine how Juvia must be right now. You had finally made it to Fairy Hills now and made your way to Juvia's room as quickly as you could.
You finally reached her door and knocked gently. "Juvia? Can I come in?" No response but you can hear Juvia crying through the door. "Juvia? I'm coming in alright?" You spoke as you opened her door and entered her room.
There she was you saw her as soon as you entered the room. She was crying heavily on her bed. She didn't even look at you when you entered the room she just continued crying.
You approached and sat down on the bed next to her as you began to speak. "Juvia? What's wrong? Will you tell me what happened? I'm really worried about you."
You began to rub her back with your hand in an attempt to comfort Juvia. After a while Juvia's crying seems to have begun to slow down and she was taking deep breaths. Then after some more time, Juvia spoke to you about what was upsetting her.
"Darling, am I too clingy?" Juvia spoke and it surprised you as you didn't expect that. "What? No of course not Juvia why would you think that?" Juvia then sat up next to you.
"Juvia was out shopping earlier today and I overheard these girls taking. They said I was too clingy and obsessive over you darling." It hurts your heart to hear this but your heart hurt even more seeing how it was affecting Juvia.
You then pulled Juvia into a hug her head resting on your shoulder and your head resting on hers. "I would never think anything like that Juvia. I love you more than life itself you mean so much to mean and I care about you more than words can express. Don't listen to them Juvia what they said isn't true.
I love you just how you and nothing will ever change that." As soon as you tell her this Juvia's mood changes and you see her start to smile again. "Thank you darling I'll never doubt your love for me again. I love you so much." Juvia spoke looking at you with a smile on her face. "And I love you as well Juvia."
The way the Magnolia sun gleamed in through the crack in curtain, and splayed itself over the pink satin sheets of Lucy’s apartment, signalled the beginning of a new day. Vague memories of having made brunch plans with Levy the day prior hazed through her mind, but right now, her bed was just too comfy, her sheets, too plush, and the arm wrapped tightly around her waist was too warm to think about being anywhere but here.
Natsu stirred a little as Lucy shifted in his arms, turning herself over to face him before burying her face under his chin. In his half-sleep state, he accommodated her request, resting his chin atop her head as she hooked her leg around him, pulling him even closer into her grasp. Her fingers found a home in his hair, dragging them through his locks in a way that had him practically purring at her touch, which made it all the worse when she decided to pull away, to which he responded in turn with an involuntary whine at the loss of her touch.
His eyes fluttered open to meet hers, soft and radiant among the morning glow. Her lips were pursed slightly, practically begging to be encased by his own, and who was he to deny her that? He moved his arm to rest a hand on her cheek, gently caressing it with his calloused thumb before leaning in closer to her.
Lucy let out a hum of anticipation, letting her eyes fall shut as she waited for his lips to touch hers, only to feel a wave of shock pulse through her body when she felt his tongue drag across her face. She bolted up into a sitting position, only to be met with her partner, who was absolutely laughing his ass off at her reaction.
"Did you just lick me?!"
Her face was filled with disgust as she watched Natsu try, and fail, to pull himself back together, wiping away the tears he had begun to shed in his hysteric state.
Between cackles and trying to regain his breath, Natsu managed to choke out, "Man! You shoulda seen you face, you wer-"
Before he could even begin to think of how to end his sentence, Lucy grabbed her pillow and hit him with a loud THWACK. Whatever punishment she was trying to administer clearly failed her, as any composure he had managed to regain was fully diminished, being replaced once more with absolute howling laughter, muffled slightly by the pillow over his head.
Whilst her partner was still cackling to himself over his little prank, Lucy pulled her legs over so she was straddling him, her arms crossed over her chest, with a pout on her lips, and her eyebrows furrowed in frustration. Her half-hearted attempt at intimidating him into an apology was futile, as Natsu shoved the pillow off of his face and met her with that stupid, charming grin of his that made her forget everything bad in the world, (including his childish antics, this case included).
His hands found their way to her waist, pushing up her shirt slightly before rubbing small circles against her soft skin with his thumb. The action pulled Lucy out of her anger; instead, she was filled with a feeling of content, her arms dropping to her sides to rest her hands atop his, only to be pulled back in when Natsu spoke up, a mischievous look crossing his face.
"Ya want another one?"
"No, I do NOT want another one, thank you very much!" She all but screeched as she pulled herself off of him and the bed, taking the comforter with her, leaving him exposed to the air as he once again fell into a fit of laughter.
"You are the worst!" she cried, throwing the duvet to the ground and making her escape to the door before he could try anything else.
"I love you, Lucyyyy," he called out to her from across the room, "c’mon, come back to bed; I promise I won’t lick ya this time!"
"No, you can't I love you your way out of this one, Natsu!" she retorted as she tried to make her way into the kitchen, her back to him.
Unaffected by her reprimands, Natsu jumped out of her bed and rushed over to her, wrapping his arms around her waist and lifting her up, burying his face in her neck, peppering it with kisses, amused as she squealed in surprise, and carrying her back to bed, where they both flopped down onto the mattress. With a sigh, Lucy gave in to his affections, snuggling closer to him and thanking every star there was that at least he hadn’t tried tickling her.
"I love you," he repeated, his lips grazing against her forehead.
"Yeah, yeah, I love you too, stupid."
Natsu Dragneel: Hogwarts AU
Tumblr media
Natsu Dragneel is a Half-Blood wizard that was born on the 7th of July 1973 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1984, being sorted into Gryffindor house.
He has a Ash wand with a Dragon Heartstring core.
His Patronus is a Chinese Fireball Dragon.
His favorite subject is Defense Against the Dark Arts and his least favorite is Flying.
He was the Headboy of his year.
Natsu is carefree and reckless in nature, and, despite his consistent brawls with the other members of Gryffindor house, he is a fiercely loyal and protective friend. He is willing to go down fighting for his friends, regardless of how futile it might seem. Natsu has a straightforward mind, and often tackles issues with a "hands on" approach. His solution to problems often involve violence. Even when disrespected or faced with obvious hostility, Natsu rarely ever reciprocates the feelings, and often forgoes grudge-holding. He did, however, for a short time, hold a grudge against Jellal Fernandes, but eventually forgave him and considered him an ally. He occasionally shows compassion for his enemies, such as when Cobra was betrayed by Brain. Natsu rarely exhibits any perverse tendencies towards the opposite sex, there only being two noted instances. The first is seen prior to the Triwizard Tournament, when he is seen trying to peek, along with several other of his male classmates, on the women as they bathed in the Prefect's Bathroom. The second is when Lucy comes crashing into him while nude, and he stares at her body, even groping her breasts for a moment. Natsu is rather immature, making an enemy laugh during duels, or even pulling pranks on others. That being said, it has led to foes to underestimate him and fall his tricks as well. Despite his childish side, Natsu can be responsible enough when looking after someone.
Natsu continuously tries to prove his strength to others. At various points in time, he has challenged Erza, Laxus, Mirajane, and even Gildarts (in short, all of the top students in each year), to fight him, albeit, he was beaten every single time. Despite his losses, Natsu bears them no ill will, as he considers everyone at Hogwarts to be his family. He demonstrates this attitude even towards former enemies. Natsu has even gone as far as defending Laxus from being expelled, despite him opening the Chamber of Secrets. Due to his reckless nature, Natsu's duels usually ends with widespread destruction. Natsu's love of duelling has allowed him to develop a rather strategic mind, helping him to, on various occasions, find weaknesses in his opponent's techniques, or simply weaknesses his opponents themselves possess. Natsu has also defeated his opponents with pure wit, rather than strong spells. Natsu, befitting his recklessness and love of duelling, never backs out of a duel. Natsu’s love for combat is purely for pitting all his strength against others and see who comes out on top and doesn’t like the idea of murdering people. That being said, Natsu he’ll do whatever it takes to win in serious all out war if it means securing everyone’s safety.
Natsu hates the idea of self sacrificing one’s life and has prevented those closest to from attempting so, believing it causes others more pain than good, also showcasing how much Natsu values life itself. Natsu values family above all else, stemming from the time he mysteriously lost Igneel the only family he’s known thus holds onto his current one he’s build within Gryffindor house and gets mad at anyone who do not appreciate those closest to them.
Ever since their meeting, Natsu has gotten rather close to Lucy, even being overly familiar with her, such as casually breaking into her dorm room, much to her and her roommates' annoyance. Natsu has admitted that he’s always felt comfortable around her, which he believes is due to her having a similar aura to Anna who cared for him when he was a child. Lucy clearly means a lot to Natsu, always concerned for her safety, trusts her a great deal and grateful for all the help she’s given. He gets enraged at anyone who would so much as harm her a great deal. More recently, Natsu has attempted to keep his recklessness in check as per Lucy’s advice, even when provoked into fighting by others.
Natsu was very close to Lisanna for helping him raise Happy who would become his partner and trusted best friend. Because of this, after her supposed death, no one at Hogwarts mentioned her out of respect for his feelings. However, after Lisanna's return to Hogwarts from captivity, this is no longer the case.
Out of his fellow Gryffindors, Natsu feels most antagonistic towards Gray, as the two constantly fight and bicker every chance they have since childhood. The two were even initially reluctant on being in the same house and usually acted friendly towards each other to avoid Erza’s scolding. Despite all this, they do care for each other as much as anyone in Gryffindor, Natsu has carried Gray when he’s down, even preventing Gray from sacrificing himself numerous times, even being saddened to tears. The two are shown at times to at least get along in friendly competitions.
Natsu fears Erza the most out everyone and panics if he ever gets on her bad side, yet still challenges her to duel when he can. Natsu respects Erza for her strength, saying she’s at her best when she’s strong and violent, thus gets mad at anyone who so much as brings her sadness. Natsu would go as far as defy the Ministry of Magic for Erza’s sake, such as attempting to stop Jellal’s imprisonment knowing it would’ve hurt Erza despite his own issues with him at the time.
Due to all of his trips to Romania as a kid, Natsu suffers from motion sickness. Natsu becomes sick from riding on any form of transportation, even if the transportation happens to be other people, as shown when he was carried by Lucy. This, however, does not apply to dragons, as he considers them family, not transportation. Natsu can become sick from looking at, or simply thinking about, any form of transportation. In spite of his naturally dense nature, Natsu is quite perceptive and understanding of his friend's feelings. After his O.W.L.S. in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Natsu came to understand and accept fear, and has used this acceptance to help his friends and himself emotionally grow. Prior to this event, Erza’s wrath (albeit for comic relief), transportation, and the Ministry of Magic were the only things that Natsu feared.
Ship: Natsu Dragneel x Lucy Heartfilia Summary: When time rolls around a certain anniversary, Lucy tries to deal with her sorrows and learn how to cope. Day 3 of Nalu Week 2023 - prompt: fears Ao3
***
Whenever Lucy struggles to get out of bed, she allows herself five minutes of reflection. Those five minutes usually lead to her falling asleep again, waking up 30 minutes later that intended to – that’s however never a big problem. Other times she spends those five minutes taking a deep breath, swallowing twice or slowly wiggling different parts of her body to see if she’s feeling alright, because some missions bring colds or fevers, and some just makes her so sore that she decides to take her time and spend the day in the apartment. Sometimes the five minutes just gives her more time to finish up a dream she was dreaming, and sometimes she just takes them to properly wake up so she can step out of bed and prepare herself to spend the day as usual.
Every year in late September, she finds herself waking up with a heavy heart. She knows it’s time to properly wake up and make breakfast and get on with her day, because unless she spends her five minutes in the ways mentioned above, she’s supposed to be able to go on with her day. But the skies are grey, the air in her apartment is cold, and her heart lies heavy in her chest, and she knows that the next days will be just as slow and unpleasant, because she remembers that it is late in September and her life will always feel like this during this time of the year. So, she allows herself to lay there for a while. Sometimes she manages to force herself out of bed in just under ten minutes, but most often she lays there for another hour or two before she can even attempt stepping out. Those hours feel like days, and as she feels her body tossing and turning, her mind roams the endless corridors in the Heartfilia mansion. During these hours she relives the first turning point in her life – the death of her beloved mother Layla. It would be fruitless to go into detail about this event, seeing as death has been part of life since the beginning of time; every living organism has witnessed and/or experienced family members dying, leaves falling off trees to rot on the ground during winter, animals taking their last breath as they suffer the consequences of the curse and blessing called life. Lucy is certainly not the first nor the last person who must deal with this phenomenon, so she allows this week to happen.
She wakes up and suffers for a few hours, because that is the punishment of loving the ones who once lived, and then she strains her body as she moves around, forcing it to eat for fuel, to laugh in front of her friends, because she knows that when the month of the anniversary of their dead loved ones comes around, they will do the same and that is how people live. Everyone she knows does this. Natsu goes into the woods for a few days whenever Igneel’s death anniversary comes around, Gray acts similarly to Lucy, spending some days or weeks quietly for himself as he’s reminded of Ur’s unfair fate, Erza spends more time quietly watching the sunset when her past revisits, and Wendy cries by herself in the guild bathroom whenever time rolls around to when her old guild proved to be a lie, a made up fantasy to compensate for not being able to provide it from the beginning. Lucy knows that they need those moments, and therefore she treats herself with the same compassion, because she too was once a child who lost someone important, and though her life changed for the better as she grew up, she’ll always carry that small child, who had to witness her own father become nothing short of a monster in the aftermath of her mother’s death.
For a long time, she managed to deal with this on her own. She took the time she needed, both to be sad and to build up her happiness again. It was never easy, and never would be, but she did it, alone, because that was what she knew. When she was a child, she had done everything on her own, and when it came down to it as an adult, she knew that she would have to get used to living that way. Sure, she had the guild now – it was the best thing that had ever happened to her, and she loved being able to curb the lonely feeling whenever she felt like it, but it didn’t work when she felt her past loneliness take over. She wasn’t alone now, sure enough, but she was then and that would never change. Little Lucy was still dealing with the death of her mother, reliving it every second of her life, and though Big Lucy could try to drown it in the loud sounds of brawls and laughter of the guild, it was never enough to save her from having to deal with Little Lucy’s loss at the end of the day.
When Lucy finally managed to move her heavy limbs, this morning, late in September, she once again wished that she would find strength to live another week. Not because she needed it to deal with this anniversary, or because she wouldn’t be able to live without that strength she wished for, but because she found that that was the only thing she could do. She could wish, and she could hope, and she could tell herself that surviving would be the same as living, even when she knew they were as different as living and dying. So, she wished, and then she stood up and put on the kettle, to somehow drown her morning blues in a hot cup of tea. Then she wished again, as she scooped oats into a bowl, to measure her breakfast. And she wished for a third time, when she accidentally cried into her oatmeal and made it salty, and that is when the Gods must have heard her wishes, echoing in all timelines, beginning when she was still a child, crying loudly in the empty halls of the Heartfilia mansion, because that is when the door flew up in Lucy’s hallway on Strawberry Street. The man she trusted at every other point in her life had entered, not expecting to see his gold haired companion wipe her tears and swallow hard as he hung his raincoat and slipped out of his slippers – an odd combination, but one none of his friends weren’t used to nowadays. Natsu was indeed surprised to hear sobbing this ordinary morning, but Lucy on the other hand just sent a thanks up to the Gods, along with a last wish. The wish that he would be there with her, every other time she had to deal with this phenomenon called death.
“What’s the matter, Lucy?” Natsu asked as he made his way over to the table.
“Oh,” she began, “nothing much, really.” She took a deep breath, knowing he must be startled by this odd scene. As she gathered some courage, she looked up and met his worried eyes, and then she let go of this responsibility she made up, that for so long had forced her to carry this loneliness and sadness all by herself. “Mom’s anniversary is coming up. I just tend to feel down whenever it comes around, as I said, it’s really nothing much.”
Natsu, who had sat down in front of her, had a difficult expression plastered all over his face. It was soft and kind, sympathetic even, but also something else that she couldn’t put her finger on.
“I’ll probably be like this for a few days, but it’ll pass, so no need to worry, Natsu.” She said after a while, not knowing how else to fill the silence between them.
“Do you wanna talk about her?” Natsu asked to Lucy’s surprise. She didn’t expect him to take a roll to support her during this – after all, he had never been good at comforting people, especially not when it came to death and such. He was known for running away from these things, and she couldn’t blame him, since she’d do the same if she had the energy to.
“I don’t know what you want to hear. There’s not much to say other than the things you already know,” Lucy told him with a faint smile. She truly appreciated his attempt to comfort her. Natsu was awkward about these things, even if he didn’t look it at the moment. While he took his time to formulate a sentence (she suspected he didn’t want to say anything to accidentally upset her – also something she really appreciated) she took a sip from her tea, that now had cooled down slightly.
“Well, I don’t know a lot about her as a person,” Natsu admitted, “other than that the two of you are similar. What were her hobbies? How was she before she met Jude?” The faint smile Lucy had carried grew stronger.
“Our hobbies were quite similar as well actually. She loved to read and write, though the only writing she did was in her diary, and that was buried with her, as per her request. You already know she was a strong mage, but I bet you didn’t know that she actually disliked the concept of guilds. She thought that it was putting normal people out of jobs, and she once compared it to a cult.” Lucy couldn’t stop a giggle as she saw the shocked look on Natsu’s face. “I promise she would think differently of it now, the business is cleaner now. Mom was actually a profound debater, she was great with her words, but she could never make a living out of it since she was too open minded to continue arguing about the same thing. If she argued against guild for example, and then heard a good enough argument as to why they actually are good for socioeconomic reasons et cetera, then she would just fall flat and admit being wrong. Great for making friends, but kind of bad if you want to make a living out of it,” she laughed. It felt nice, being able to talk about her mother as if she was alive. It was rare, which was sad in itself since she was so much more than just another dead mother.
Lucy’s laughter lacked the energy it usually had, but Natsu couldn’t blame her. Even his fondest memories of Igneel made him sad sometimes, just because he knew he’d never get to experience anything like it again.
“Mom was a really happy and positive person, both before and after she knew dad. She knew how to turn every bad situation around; you can say she was a master at seeing the golden edge when life felt grey and cloudy. Though, from what Aquarius told me, mom was fiercer before she met dad. Apparently, she had been taking care of the Heartfilia Konzern ever since she was in her late teens, and business was said to be in its golden age when she took care of it all. I can’t imagine mother being a bossy person, but maybe Aquarius got her temper from her, or the other way around.” She let out another chuckle before looking up at Natsu again. His face was serious, but he didn’t wear the frown she knew he usually got with his serious face. His eyebrows had a soft tilt, as if telling her to continue, and confirming her that he’s listening.
“Do you know what made her fall for Jude?”
“Well, other than the fact that dad had a lot more hair when the two of them met, apparently, he had spent months trying to get her attention by sending her flowers and love letters. They were all kind of bland, just repeating the same principle of ‘I fell in love at first sight, please let me introduce myself’ and a whole lot of stolen quotes by famous poets. She finally gave him a chance one day, and I’m pretty sure she fell for how devoted he was to her. She wrote in her diary once, in the very early entrances, that she hoped he would stay as devoted if she ever birthed him a child. It’s scary how people can change when they’re heartbroken.” Lucy’s voice only barely carried through her last sentence. Scary it was indeed, because there was no way any of the three of them could have predicted how sorrow would look in their mansion. She knew her father must have been extremely depressed, and after her history with him, she became surprised to learn that he never attempted to harm himself in any way. Instead, his sorrow became unrecognisable as it turned into rage and emotional detachment, and he harmed people around him whether he intended to or not.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, and though Lucy felt the same heavy air from this morning return, it returned lighter. Natsu’s presence alone helped tremendously.
“How do you deal with it?” She finally managed to ask, her voice waving. “How does anyone get through it?”
Natsu swallowed, and Lucy could see his eyes flicker around the room, as if his brain was working hard as he carefully chose his words. She allowed him to take his time and brewed him a cup of tea so he wouldn’t sit empty handed while she ate breakfast. She still had her back turned when he answered.
“I don’t think anyone really deals with it. Ya’ know I’m already bad at dealin’ with emotions as is, so whenever Igneel’s anniversary comes up I kinda prefer being alone until I can function normally again. I’m sure you’ve already noticed I go away sometimes.” She turned around, now with a cup of hot water and a teabag in her hands. Natsu didn’t look up from a certain spot on the table, but she placed them down beside him anyways and let him continue. “But I know it makes me happiest when I can talk about him, and all the things we did together. That way he’s still remembered, and even if it’s sad and frustrating that those moments won’t happen again, it makes it a little easier, if just for a while.”
“Remembering them is bittersweet,” Lucy said, moving her own breakfast to the seat beside him so she could sit closer. “I can’t say I mind bittersweet things, because they help me feel things again, when everything just becomes overwhelmingly numb.”
“That’s the word, yeah.” Natsu looked up at her again. Her eyes looked tired, and her skin was pale, so he put his arm around her shoulder and gave her arm a squeeze. “What more are you thinkin’ about?”
Lucy pressed her lips together firmly, in an attempt to hold back her new flow of sadness.
“It’s just… Sometimes I feel so scared. Mom left me with dad, and it was supposed to be okay, because she expected him to continue loving me, even after his death. But it she didn’t know that dad wouldn’t be strong enough for us both, so she accidentally left me all alone, just leaving the empty shell of who was once my loving father. And then, when I finally reconciled with him, he died, leaving me all alone again. I’m just afraid I’ll end up losing someone again, and it’s stupid because I know none of my friends would purposely abandon me, but it has just happened too many times for the fear to feel irrational.” Lucy realised that she had started crying as she talked.
“I know how you feel,” Natsu whispered, pulling her into his embrace in an attempt to stop her shivering.
“The scariest part of this is that all my nightmares already have come true once,” she let out with a shaky voice. “I had already lost Aquarius, and then you had to deal with your stuff, which was totally understandable, but then the guild disbanded, and in less than a week my entire life had just crumbled down. All that was left was me and this stupid fear of abandonment, and even if you came back and brought the guild together again, and I was supposed to heal, this terrifying feeling stayed. You know, the ‘if it happened once, what stops it from happening again?’ type of feeling?”
“Yeah, I know it,” Natsu said again. “But I promise you that it will never, ever, in your entire life, happen ever again. I promise on everything I own and love. No matter what, I promise I’ll be with you, alright?”
Lucy burrowed closer into his shoulder, turning the half-hug into a proper one by wrapping her arms around him tightly. A few sobs slipped out, and it was unclear if they were from sadness, exhaustion, or gratefulness.
“Yeah, I know you will.” She rested her chin on top of his shoulder, practically bathing in the heat he radiated. “Which is why the fear is stupid.”
“I also feel scared of getting abandoned sometimes.” Natsu rarely spoke about his own traumas, especially ones that were this old, but as he rubbed faint patterns onto Lucy’s back, he felt like he could tell her. “It’s a really old fear, and even if it hasn’t resurfaced in ages, it still shakes me. It’s mostly remnants of when Igneel disappeared – and though I know now that he was with me all along, I still thought he’d left me there in the woods.”
They stayed in that position for a while, only changing to get closer. Holding him near like this was partly to ensure she’d never lose him again, but also partly to use him as an anchor. She believed his promises, and she trusted that he would never break the same promise twice.
When she spoke up again the tea had already gone cold.
“Natsu?”
“Mhm.”
“Can we stay inside like this today?”
“Yeah, ‘course.”
“Natsu?”
“Hm?”
“Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
