I have been buying a few bio-products lately mostly because the cheap ones are too large/have too many...idk like potatoes for me to actually use and not end up throwing some away and

i swear to god

if one more thing tastes worse than the cheaper option i will never buy them again it’s getting really annoying

the ONE expensive thing so far that tastes better than the cheap one is the bratwurst my great grandpa brings from his local farmer once in a while (it’s really good and nice and soft even when you reheat it but with a nice crispy kinda skin, nothing that drags, nothing that hardens out, just the right texture in all the right places and good taste and everything <3)

but other than that so far my experiences have been subpar so i guess my taste goes

more expensive bio/organic foods<cheapest options<expensive local farm options but i’d have to actually be able to drive out someplace to get any so basically impossible to get lol

#txts #we do have market day tomorrow again #i dont think i can go buy anything bc i work right through their open times #but maybe next time i could buy some eggs and try those?#bc then i have tried every option for them #sadly cant buy meat from them though bc i got no space to store it for multiple hours afterwards because...work #we have the tiniest fridge ever at work...it's not made for my shopping style #i also tried like fresh cut chicken breasts but god....can you...make them big?#and not the tiniest pieces which also have the most gum-like textures around #so i need to cut them even MORE #really annoying #i just wanna eat nice food and have more than 1 option #and also not feel like dying when visiting my vegan friends #FUCK VEGAN MAYO BTW i have strong feelings about that #unsure if they all taste the same but WHICH FUCKER DECIDED TO SWEETEN IT #THIS ISNT SALAD DRESSING FUCK YOU SPECIFICALLY WHOEVER MADE THIS SINGLE MAYO I TRIED AND LEFT ALONE RIGHT AFTERWARD #the nuggest were...fine #bit eh in texture-too flat and paper mache vibes but it was food i was willing to chew on #which is more than i can say for most #this side rant made me hungry now #its 11pm...i am rly not in the mood to cook #and i have no leftovers atm #i wanted to go wait till tomorrow and cook some food them #i lied-i DO have some quick food but i didnt read the full package and it has mushrooms in it #and i am also not in the mood to pick out every.single.mushroom #i need rice to bury it #and my gag reflex to chill out more bc its coming up just thinking about it....gid

Good morning what are the movies or tv shows that traumatized you as a kid mine are the BBC production of A Christmas Carol and a handful of David Suchet Poirot episodes

#my dad always thought if something was well done it was appropriate for children #so we never watched the silly little kid version of things. The muppet Christmas Carol? My dad would N E V E R #anyway a Christmas Carol ruined Christmas for me for YEARS #i hated to think about it #and poirot was just. traumatizing #there’s one called murder on the links which involved a golf course at night which is one of the most terrifying locations I can imagine #also there’s one called death in the clouds #and poirot uncovers the murder because there are two spoons on the dead lady’s tray of airplane food #and the way he says ‘he picks up a spoon giving him the task of a waiter to carry out’#when explaining the murder at the end to this DAY sends chills up my spine #I know this is very obvious but the thing about fear is that it isn’t about logic or reason but it is about revelation #it’s like the flip side of moments of good and happy insight #at least for me #what terrifies me is a moment where some kind of evil is revealed in a blinding FLASH #a motive or (I guess) a ghost #and there is this presence of some malevolent entity underneath the reality of things #and something about it being SEEN almost more than it existing #is so scary. Like I.#Poirot uncovering the murder and describing it with such studied fascinated careful attention #pulling back the layers of a blind of one kind or another #shakes me to. my. CORE.#and it’s all so visual and instinctive. it’s one tiny little moment that doesn’t fit suddenly pulling back the curtain of reality #with such terrifying abruptness #makes me want to sit down and cry like a baby #the knowledge of evil doesn’t scare me. as in it doesn’t elicit an emotional/physical reaction of fear #but seeing it in embodied action. again. where it’s some tiny ordinary little detail suddenly ripping reality as you know it to shreds #the surprise of it. the recalibration it demands #I !!!!!!!!! Get so afraid

Poppy for N2 au, it took me so long to make her design cuz I didn't really know what I wanted to do only because I feel like her design is pretty perfect.

But then I just thought about fun outfits to give her or outfits that I would find comfortable if I was wearing them and it all came together.

Poppy here is pretty much the same as here movie counterpart, as nothing really changes on her end of things other than having more insight on Branch through his brothers, and through Lief. Shes also a bit more understanding a bit earlier on because of it but it doesnt do much to change her own character arc I would say.

Bonus

Part of Poppys design was based off a design I had made for previous rulers of Troll Village/Tree

Namely Queen Protea who I designed as Poppys grandmother

Named after the Protea flower which part of her design is based off :D

In the context of this Au Protea was the one who conceptualized the tunnels while her son, King Peppy, was the one to follow through after her death

kinda sad how davekat was like. it truly was a big deal at the time when it was confirmed by hussie. some of yall who came into homestuck after it was already over dont understand how great it felt actually to finally have a relatively healthy and affectionate m/m relationship shown in HS when all the others were typically dysfunctional, abusive, or one-sided. it was exciting!!! we were all jst kinda happy for dave and karkat yknow. even if it resulted in some pointless "which quadrant are they in?" discourse and some shipping wars but thats just par for the course in hs fandom

and then the epilogues and homestuck 2 dropped and like. ooooohhhhh my godddddd. its completely swamped in stupid melodrama and for some reason they completely ruined jades character for the sake of davekat angst and they ignored daves development in the comic for half-baked sexuality crisis plotline andlike. it feels like everyone turned on davekat and now its cringe or smth and its like. Wow . we had like . three years to feel good abt this and now its gone forever. Awesome

So I just saw someone say "1984 is not a blueprint" on another post, and I don't want to be that guy who responds to someone not-the-OP with a tangent on an already long post, but:

1984 absolutely is a blueprint, for the people in power. 1984 is a horror for the regular person, the person who experiences things such as "self-worth," "the value of culture," and "privacy." It is written to make you aware, as a reader, what it looks like when those things are denied to you.

But 1984 is also a tragedy. It's not a happy ending YA dystopia where the awful power structure is overthrown and we all walk out into the sunlight of the new world with an orchestral soundtrack score to figure out what the hell we're supposed to do from here. 1984 ends with the protagonist being tortured and reprogrammed into being a good little Party Member who exclusively has sex in the missionary position for the sole purpose of procreation and doesn't even enjoy it.

(Yes, kids, that's in there, too. 1984 is explicitly about how sexual pleasure and variance is inherently subversive to power.)

So like... To the people who see themselves as people who would end up in charge in such a world, to the people who want control over not only our actions but our thoughts? Yeah, that absolutely is a blueprint. In 1984, the Party wins.

Because the point of 1984 is that: If we let it get that far, it's too late. And also that if we don't stick together and fight back together, then it's too late. And that if we let fear of our neighbors prevent us from reaching out to each other - if every man truly becomes an island - then it is already, absolutely, too late.

Anyway, so just as a reminder, "unalive" is actually literally Newspeak unlike most of the things the press calls Newspeak, Alexa is Big Brother's eyes but they convinced you to pay for it, and we've got no protection but what we fight for. Viva la thoughtcrime, everybody.

love it when a character that's hard to read intuitively for you has like a dedicated fandom interpreter who can just glance at their blank face in a panel and then give you a 3k word essay on their innermost thoughts & desires & fears and neatly tie it back into the themes & whatnot as if it's the most obvious thing in the world

#im talking about griffith btw #guts i feel i get intuitively - maybe because i have some personality traits in common with him #and we get more about his life concretely told to us in canon. so he is a bit easier to pin down as a character and feel attached to for me #but whenever i was reading the manga i just kept wanting more insight about griffith's actions and feelings #like ok yeah its fun to have mysterious antagonists and suspense /tension etc but its also fun to feel like you deeply understand them too #and i felt like that was a bit missing from him for me in canon #so reading about him in analysis and fics is the most fun for me rn #he always felt kinda half unreal to me- which maybe was the point of him - but i wanted a bit more about his childhood or something?#and wished we had more stuff explicitly from his pov in the story to read or explanation about his transformation or wtv #and now he's so much more closed off to me even than he was in the golden age. i keep waiting for him to explain stuff and he does not #ANYWAYS all this rambling to say some people out there are very good at interpreting him and making his like. insecurities #more obvious to me bc i didnt really get that side of him from canon intuitively well #also im really enjoying reading the first few berserk fics ive read #there may not be a ton of them out there but there is def writing talent in the fandom #i'll share some recs once i'm done sifting through most of what's out there to read #also (not to tie everything back to death note but it IS my home fandom after all)#i feel griffith is obvs the more light-like character here and L maybe a bit guts-like? but unlike berserk in death note #light is the one you get to know best and L is the mysterious / unreal one you don't get a lot of concrete insight into #and in the DN fandom I can read the more mysterious character intuitively but had to warm up to the less mysterious one instead #and the mystery of L makes sense to me and doesnt bug me as much due to like - he HAS to hide a lot about himself or else he will die lol #so some similarities there but also some opposite feels as well #berserk spoilers #p

okay, but putting aside the comedic aspect of this, it is concerning the amount of people who are prompted to vote for candidates just because it's funny. I'm not the biggest fan of how his policy about the boarder sounds [Site], but I do implore anyone who is able to vote in the 2024 US election to please research other candidates.

The media is only going to continue pushing the idea it's inevitably going to be Trump vs Biden 2.0 and we have no other options, that we have to vote for Biden again because of Project 2025. Is that whole thing terrifying?

Yeah, fucking absolutely.

But voting for Biden will not solidify our safety from that. Biden is exactly like the rest of them. He always has been. You can't make the lesser of two evils argument when they're both just plain evil.

You cannot say that Biden is even mildly a better choice than Trump when he is currently directly involved in a genocide. That is not some little fucking thing. That in and of itself disqualifies him as a lesser evil. Biden is just as bad as him and he will not save us because he doesn't fucking care.
