rwrb character texting styles

so i was looking into different character's texting styles for a rwrb fic that i'm writing so here's an analysis on how the white house trio + henry text in distinct styles (since unfortunately we don't see any texts from pez or bea)

alex: all lowercase, minimal punctuation. uses slang but not an overwhelming amount (this is very different from how he writes emails which basically are written following the rules of grammar and punctuation)

henry: perfect grammar and punctuation (he capitalizes nouns in the beginning of sentences and never leaves off a period), little to no slang. (he basically texts almost the same as he writes his emails, EXCEPT for when alex is thirsting over his dad)

june: capitalizes her sentences and proper nouns but she leaves off the ending period. tends to use exclamation points and question marks three times (or more) to emphasize her points. occasional use of slang or symbols

nora: leans more heavily into memes and slang, also all lowercase. only uses punctuation to ensure her meaning is understood. seems to be the only one in the book who sends memes/gifs in the chats

Since Red, White and Royal Blue is everywhere and the first time I read it was when I was deep in the Roswell, New Mexico fandom, the vague Malex RW&RB AU that spawned in my brain back then has reared it’s head again and wants to be shared.

I won’t turn it into a full fic, I know myself, that won’t happen, but I’d like to share my headcanons and I might write some scenes or snippets.

The obvious choice would be making Alex, Alex, but in my head Alex Manes makes more sense as Prince Henry.

I could probably make Harland Manes the King or the unnamed father of Jesse, but I think Jesse get's to be King in this AU even though that is a scary thought. But Jesse can't get the roll of Cathrine, he doesn't deserve it

Alex is the fourth son, so not even the spare, but the spare of the spare of the spare. Jesse despises him for being gay but I think in this version the physical abuse is a little more subtle, he is the king after all. Still an abusive asshole though.

Alex still became a soldier in the Royal Air Force and he still lost his leg.

Liz is the daughter of the head chef in the palace and good friends with Alex. He often takes her along with him on trips, when he can.

Maria geht’s to take over Pez’ role of rich, eccentric best friend

Maria and Liz are the only people outside the Royal family and certain members of the staff that know that Alex is gay

I kind of want to include Kyle in this whole thing somehow, but I haven’t figured out how yet

Michael isn’t actually the first son, but part of this AU’s Whitehouse trio.

The president is actually Ann Evans. (I want to keep the President a women, that's the only reason I picked Ann over Dave) So Max and Isobel are the first children.

So basically, the pod squad is the White House Trio

All three of them were still found as children and adopted (I kind of would like to keep them being aliens, but I don't know how to make that work, so I guess they are human)

Michael was adopted by Walt Sanders who is now the head of security in the White House. He and Michael live in the White House as well

The Evanses treat Michael as a third child by now and he's just as important and popular in the eyes of the public as Isobel and Max

So basically Michael is Nora in this, which fits very well imo

I'm gonna keep adding on to this headcanon and I'd love to get questions about it to inspire me to get deeper into it.

I‘m lowkey disappointed in the RW&RB movie. Don’t get me wrong the Chemistry between Henry and Alex is great but I‘m missing the chemistry between the White house trio, like where is June. The siblings reading fanfiction of each other and Nora and Alex pranking the press is one of the best parts of the books. Also the leaked photos and the campaign win are a little bit out of the blue, the republican candidate leaking them and ellen winning partly bc of that made much more sense. Also where is Bea‘s drug arc ?

Just the movie is good but there are so many missed opportunities.

Hi sorry if this is an odd question, but in the era of your ask blog what was Alfred's public reputation? I assume the higher class of NYC would think he was odd, being young and (seemingly) self made, with no wife or family that he spoke of regularly, and a random gaggle of people from other countries living with him.

It’s not too odd a question at all! I always teeter totter about exactly how secret nations are, but currently where I am is that they’re kind of an open secret so to speak. They don’t go out of their way to tell you, but if you figure out who they are it isn’t the end of the world.

In Alfred’s case I think some people in higher society understand who he is, especially if they’re involved in politics. It’s easy to put together once you realize it’s always D.C. he’s going to on business. Well, that and the fact he’s been 19-20 for decades. It also explains why this random squad of foreigners is popping up with him at White House events on occasion. That and the fact that nations all have something a little just off about them- they look like they know/have seen a little too much. Not off-putting per se, but off.

I think to people who aren’t clued in, especially in higher classes, they perceive Alfred as some young investor or lawyer. As for everyone living with him, they’re viewed as his staff more often than not. That’s changed over time, as when it was just Molly living with him they probably were perceived as relatives. Come the 1880s with Tolys and Lovino there, that’s his laundress/maid, that’s his secretary, that’s his cook. He’s definitely viewed as a bit of an odd duck for how close he is with them to boot before people realize.

All in all, he’s got a reputation as an eccentric young businessman with a generous streak. The only reason old money families don’t look down on him as much is because they’re at least marginally aware of who exactly he is. A lot of people probably assume he comes from wealth because of his connections, and he alludes to it when asked because it’s not entirely untrue.
