Im seeing a lot of (partially) justified ridicule for Analog horror, too many people have started to try and clone the Mandela* catalog to poor success. I do however want to share one of my absolute faves, White Stag Education. Its about a park where people can hike, and are encouraged to but have to watch out for the shit that does kill people. Its an ongoing story that i love.

Wendigoon telling chat to stop hitting on Craig sounds like a dad telling his rowdy ass kids to calm down or else he’s turning the car around.

i have ideas for a white stag education oc.... hes a park ranger and hes a little special quirky hes named all the strangers in the woods (based originally on the NATO phonetic alphabet and it spiraled from there) & he keeps track of their behaviors. not because he has like special sympathy for them or anything he just believes that keeping track of them helps predict future hunting events etc (it does)

Another little pebble on our path through the spooky season...
This is the "episode" "Stranger Danger Puppet Show" of a new analog-horror web-series on Youtube, "White Stag Education". "White Stag Education" presents itself as a series of educational VHS tapes for various people (children, hikers, park rangers) in an alternate version of New Jersey's Pine Barrens, haunted by strange masked humanoid beings, and... other ominous, eldritchian entities. The educational tapes all have a campy, light-hearted, slightly cheesy tone typical of 80s/90s educational tapes, which clashes with the dark tone of what the video truly is about, but reveals a society that has adapted itself to the dark horrors of its wilderness.
The specific video above is supposed to be an educational children show meant to inform kids about the dangers of the Pine Barrens - and if I post about it today, it is because there is a segment that is fairytale-related. Starting at 3:40, the park ranger-host plays a song for the children called "Stranger Danger", or "Don't trust the Big Bad Wolf". Meant to inform children about the actual "strangers" that haunt the woods (the masked humanoid beings I evoked above), it is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood with some details changed to fit the "White Stag mythos" built by the series.
I quite like the song, and I liked the poetry of some lines (the one about bird reminded me of the Alice poem about the Walrus and the Carpenter). Definitively a perfect song for a "dark fairytale" theme.
