Like a concept garden, this post is to detail the stories that I’ve put on the backburner/haven’t completely developed yet/are still in development. But, because I have to be different and extra, I’ve called them concept flowers cause it sounds cuter. I’m not participating in NaNo this year, so I hope all of you can accept this instead. I’ll be introducing only a couple projects here.
P R O J E C T J O R G U M A N D
Set in the era of Vikings, Freya is the queen to a band of mercenaries, plagued by nightmares of a dark past that she can only heal by slitting the throat of the man who haunts her. She is unable to tell the difference between right or wrong anymore. All she understands is that power is the only currency she'll need to get her revenge, silence the demons in her head, and lay her past to rest.
Godwine is an Anglo-Saxon prisoner of war, a prodigy and like a son to the same monstrous man Freya dreams of slaying. He has always turned a blind eye to the distasteful acts the men he’s called brothers had committed. Now, under the control of Freya, he’s made to confront each of those horrors and to answer for them.
TRIGGERS: depictions and references to past sexual assault, graphic depictions of violence, unhealthy coping mechanisms
RATING: mature, new adult/adult
GENRE: historical fiction
THEMES: healing, forgiveness of self and others, revenge, death, grief, unhealthy coping mechanisms, dealing with trauma, found family, enemies to allies to friends to lovers
STATUS: in development, outline, planning period

[ Story Concept: Feast of Bones ]
*disclaimer: mentions of murder, mentions of domestic violence, mentions of death/corpses and general spooky stuff. Recommended for readers 18+
>Genre(s): Adult, Supernatural/Paranormal, Romance (...kind of), Thriller, Historical  Fiction (set between 1855 and 1875)
>Themes: something’s in the woods, death, choices, hiding a dead body, freedom, love in dark places
>Characters: Juliet Swift and the creature
>Details: I would love to start drafting this story by the end of the month (Jan 2020). I’m predicting it will be a short story between 15k and 20k words. It will take place in four parts - Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
A woman can only take so much. After putting up with years of abuse at the hands of her husband, Juliet takes matters into her own hands. His bones buried beneath the first snow fall, she knows she only has until spring before it melts away and reveals her crimes.
But that’s not her only problem. She’s a woman. Alone. With little to no food or money on a homestead in the middle of Montana. If she shows her face in town, she’ll be questioned. If she can even make it there without freezing.
To make matters worse, Juliet keeps seeing shadows moving in the corner of her eye - at the tree line where her property meets the woods.
Then the animal corpses start appearing on her doorstep.
