Witcher Monster MAYhem 2023 approaches!

Rules:

Anyone can participate.

Any media form is allowed (art, fic, gifs, music, whatever).

You can participate however much or as little as you want, no pressure to complete all the prompts.

You can post your work anywhere on the internet, Tumblr, Ao3, etc.

Tag potential triggers and NSFW accordingly.

If you want to be counted as an official participant and have the chance to be featured on the blog, post your content on tumblr during the month of May. You can still use the prompt list after May ends.

Don't worry if you cannot post your creation on the day of the prompt, as long as it's during May, it counts.

To make it easier for you to fill all 31 prompts, here are some special rules:

You can use just one prompt of the day or combine prompts of the same day (but this counts just as one fill) or you can combine prompts of different days. (If you combine, for example, 2. vampire, 4. cruel claws, 8. full moon, this counts as 3 prompt fills.)

For every new work that you have created for the event, you can post one old work of yours that fits a prompt. They count like new works! (Please tag old works with #old)

You may combine a prompt with a fill for another event!

I can’t guarantee that every single work will be featured but I’ll try to reblog as many as I can.

To increase your chances of being featured here, tag your post with the event name and the prompt of the day that you used.

The title of one ficlet is “Shimmering Scales and Stormy Seas”, it’s about a bard and a 🧜‍♀️.

Now it is home to all kinds of vagrants and people looking for a place to sleep.  Geralt is looking for a place to stash his loot, and makes an unexpected friend.

First third of May is over. At least two people have had fun creating some great fics and art for the Witcher Monster MAYhem Prompts so far. Anybody else out there feeling inspired? You can still post works for the prompts of days 1-10 too, no problem as long as you post in May (or the first few days of June). What about a nice monstery gif, for example? A monster drabble? You could even knit or crochet a little dragon or bake a cake decorated with eery eyes 👀

Chapter 3 of “You’ll be wise to beware”

At the end of the ravine, the friends are greeted by the sight of at least a dozen sheep carcasses in different stages of decay. Is it just the myriapod's favourite place to have dinner or is it supposed to be a warning to keep other creatures from entering the valley, a macabre but probably quite effective way to mark the monster's territory? Well, it will not work with the Witchers, no matter how revolting the stench and the myriad blue and green carrion flies. Geralt has already examined the tracks when Jaskier and Cahir arrive at the myriapod's dinner table and is just about to mount his bay mare.

"It's been here no more than an hour ago," Geralt says, pointing at an only half-eaten sheep that looks indeed as if it has died just recently. The erstwhile white fur is covered in blood, the belly carved open by razor-sharp mandibles, the guts spread out on the greyish limestone. The sheep's head is missing. However, its flesh is not yet crawling with maggots and the stink is not quite as bad as the one wafting over from the older, decaying bodies. Jaskier holds his handkerchief to his nose, his face having taken on a greenish tinge. No wonder, the smell of rotting meat in this horrible place is far worse than even the stink of the sewers beneath Oxenfurt. Perhaps it is a good thing after all that they have not had anything to eat for lunch yet. Better to get out of here as quickly as possible.
