Sometimes I love to think that Price would keep his cool in certain situations, since he’s a captain it’s his job and he does a good job at it, but also I don’t think it’s unlike him to completely break when the situation is dire.

Say, you were kidnapped and the entire time he’s been calm and collected trying to get you back because he can’t afford to make mistakes. But then when he finds you and you’re on deaths door, beaten bloody, he’s losing it

Just look at the way he sounds when Laswell is in danger not once but twice. Sometimes the captain breaks and that will be his downfall

Let’s Flesh-Out Strahd: Part 2 👁️

Another smaller thing, but it’s the little things that make NPCs great, this time on LFOS we focus on Strahd’s Eyes (and how to use them to torture your players)

We are going canonical to start things off, and the canon we are using is the Ravenloft Realm of Terror Box Set description of Strahd’s eyes that make me think the authors were not straight. It goes like this: “His eyes are dark and hypnotic, like deep pools with subtle reflections of red light. When he is aroused or enraged his eyes burn like red-hot coals.”

Yeah so we’re using this. It’s both incredibly hot and incredibly beautiful for RP. Because Mr 20 CHA and INT and ridiculous deception should have one funky tell, and that tell is so fittingly his eyes (something something window to the soul). It’s the one thing he CANT fully control. He can prematurely end it, he can cut off the glow, but there will always be a brief flicker. Now, to throw off PCs, I tend to have this flicker happen for a number of reasons. It could be for anger/arousal, but it could be for genuine joy, for annoyance, etc. strong emotions besides sadness really, all can be conveyed with his change in eye color. And boy is it FUN to watch PCs burn inspiration on insight checks on his goddamn eyes. Another thing to always consider is the more comfortable in a good situation he is, or uncaring/uncontrolled in a bad situation, the more prolonged this appearance shift will be.

My last little blurb is about his original eye color, which I generally canon as blue, like his mother Ravenia and his siblings. They only went black as a result of the curse, and the dark powers gaining twisted pleasure in making his default eye color the same as his dad’s. Yaaaaay edgy trauma!

(I would disclaimer this as my opinions as usual, but there’s so much canon here that I won’t. Because it’s so funny to watch PCs scream over the eye flickers)

My favorite activity as an artist is to draw MOST of a comic, and then lose all motivation and momentum and then not posting it at all bc its lacking a lot of the important panels so it just rots in ur sketchbook or whatever for ever lol
