hyyyyg excuse me you have activated my thirst how dare you ?? please,, as a fellow hoe,, grant me specific and steamy words Giotto would say during 👀 ;) 👀. the softest,, the praise - I’d LIKE TO MELT HERE.
- 🫠 anon
(Bonus points if you want to add older Tsuna, older Takashi, and older Enma - definitely not needed but I am curious.)
I can’t write this for Enma bc he’s canonically only been depicted as a minor, and I don’t have the brain cells to age him up myself, sorry! I think he’d be a sweetheart though, very.. blunt and direct 👍 I hope these snippets inspire you thoo
♡ Dirty Talking with Giotto, Tsuna, & Yamamoto ✧
Tumblr media
✧ Giotto
You are right about him being big on praise. He treats all of his partners like he would a spouse from the get-go, and his words match that energy. He enjoys pet names like dove, (my) love, dear, and darling. Also likely to refer to his partner as beautiful or handsome with eyes full of desire and a charming smile on his face.
“How do you want me, darling? Don’t be shy, now.. say it out loud..”
“You’re doing so amazing, my love.. so sweet and dripping for me.. I'm sorry that I made you wait all day for this.. thank you for being so .. patient,” he murmurs the last bit, emphasizing it with brushing the soft pads of his fingers over the spot that he knows will have you legs buckling under you.
୨୧ ⁺˳₊ ♡ ₊˳⁺ ୨୧
✧ Sawada Tsunayoshi
He really, really enjoys romantic, loving, cuddly sex with a partner. He might literally malfunction if someone asked him to be rough with them. He’s not super smooth of a talker, but he’s soooo honest when something feels good to him, and very breathy and prone to whimpering when overwhelmed with pleasure.
“Hahh.. you have no idea… how much it makes my head spin when you do that..”
He nods frantically when you ask if something feels good, with a soft whine and tugging his lower lip between his teeth.
“Y-yes.. Yesyesyes, please whatever you do, don’t stop-”
“Do you.. like it like this? Yeah? Yeah, me too.. aah.. g-good… hhah.. you feel so good,” (very breathy, chest heaving, sheets-gripping, soft hair pulling kind of vibe here..)
୨୧ ⁺˳₊ ♡ ₊˳⁺ ୨୧
✧ Yamamoto Takeshi
He can be quite playful during sex, and what he says reflects that— he doesn’t take it too seriously and loves to get a good laugh in just as much as he likes to set the mood.
Sometimes he’ll catch you staring when he’s undressing and flash a crooked grin. “Hey, how you doin-?” He quips, raising his eyebrows suggestively and pretending to be super smooth by purposefully lowering his voice, followed by a full, toothy, genuine smile and laugh, nose scrunching and chuckling from deep in his chest.
“Hahahah, I’m kidding, I’m kidding.. yes, I know I don’t have to do any of that.. come over here, pretty baby~ You can do more than just look..”
He isn’t great at describing exactly what he wants a partner to do, but takes the initiative to physically demonstrate or adjust the activity towards what he has in mind. When they are doing things exactly how he likes it, he makes it very clear..
“Yeah, just like.. that. Ah.. hah.. fuck, you’re taking me so deep, my perfect angel..”

Tsuna and the guardians.... what do you think their primary love language is, out of the 5?
Oh my gosh, I cannot say how much I love this question! I definitely really think love languages are important! I loved pondering this question and hope you enjoy, anon! Thanks so much for this!
I personally think Tsuna's love language is definitely a mix of acts of service and words of affirmation, as a giver. He likes to feel like he can do things for those he loves and be of use to them and though he never dishes out compliments like they're going out of style, he actually tends to say some really sweet, insightful, and reassuring things every now and then that can make his loved ones feel so special and so valued as people. Receiving though, he's all about those words of affirmation. Even years and years into the future, he's still going to feel, in parts of his mind, like 'no-good Tsuna' and hearing a compliment or hearing how much he means to people, it really makes him feel just so safe and so secure.
Gokudera gives love through gift-giving and acts of service. It's not that he's materialistic or trying to 'buy' love...it's just that in giving something, whether it be a physical something or something he can do for the other person...it makes him feel needed. And feeling needed by someone else feels so good and so stable for him; it gives him reassurance he doesn't admit to needing often that he's irreplaceable in a way and that he makes the other person's life better instead of worse, like he sometimes fears. Receiving love though...just give this boy so much quality time. The more of someone's undivided, one on one time and attention he gets, the safer he feels, the more walls he lets down, the more valuable he feels.
I think, and I've mentioned this before in other imagines, but Yamamoto, as a giver, definitely falls into the physical touch love language. He's a touchy feely person by nature and quite physically affectionate even just with friends and even more so in romantic relationships. It's just an innate part of who he is and it's how he shows platonic, familial and romantic love. Receiving, I would also put his love language as physical touch tied with acts of service. Even just an impromptu high five or a calming hand on his shoulder...something about just feeling another person's physical presence and knowing they are there calms and centers him.
Ryohei will do anything for his loved ones. You know you are loved and important to Ryohei in just how quickly he will be there to do stuff for you, whether you ask him to or not because acts of service is how he cares for those he loves. He likes to feel like he's a strong man, capable of caring for those he treasures, and he does this through protecting them, through doing things with them or for them and trying to make things easier on them. Receiving, I think he's a mixture of quality time and acts of service in that he does enjoy being taken care of but will feel the most cared for when those he loves actively spend time with him, especially if that time is spent doing something he loves, especially if he knows it's not something they would normally do or enjoy, because it shows that they truly care about making him happy and being a part of his life and hobbies and passions.
Lambo, both giving and receiving, is firmly in the gift-giving love language. He adores and feels thought of and seen whenever someone surprises him with a gift, even if it's as small as his favourite candy or drink, and is not shy about returning the favour whenever he can. He will gladly share what he has with his loved ones because it makes both of them feel good in his mind. Having friends or a lover and being able to give them as much as he gets from them, both physically, mentally and emotionally - it makes him feel happy in a way that he can't quite describe and fills his emotional bank like nothing else.
Okay, but Hibari hates most people and as he considers his time and his presence to be important things, not readily given to just anyone. He's not an expressive man, but you will know Hibari cares about you in some way if he gives you his time and shows up because there are precious few people he deigns worthy of either, making his love language as a giver quality time. Receiving, oddly enough, giving him a gift (just without making it too showy or too big a deal) will get him in a way he doesn't quite understand and especially so if it's something hand-made that you put obvious care and time into.
Mukuro is a really odd one. He pretends a lot that he doesn't care and his acts of love are hidden under snark or his sometimes rather poor actions but if you look really closely, you do see that providing, in any way, is how Mukuro lets slip who he truly cares about and his love language, as a giver is an odd mix of acts of service and gift-giving. Meanwhile, to make him feel loved...simply be there by his side and serve him. Quality time and people's attention and devotion make him feel important, needed, seen and give him reasons to keep living, quite honestly.
Chrome almost compulsively needs to be of use to others. It does stem a lot from how she grew up and how she came to be who she is. If she cannot be of use, if she cannot perform acts of service for those she cares about, she feels lost and just not good enough because it is how she feels safe in any relationship and feels like she can make those she cares about happiest. She doesn't often have a lot of acts of service done for her, but those she does have done are also what makes her feel most loved because it's how her mind and soul understand love.

hello I have a very specific request, take it if you like it. Please write to the character that you think is the best comforter being super cute with an oc that feels like the world is going to fall apart because he doubts all his life choices. thanks <3
I haven’t written shit all since March bc once April hit my year became the worst ever on planet earth and then this request was sent in and while it took me ages to get there it was nice to basically kind of vent through this. so honestly thank you. I know it’s a bit late but thank you for sending this in. I honestly think Takeshi’s the best comforter in the series, based on what we’ve seen, and what I think about his character anyways!! reader is in college, so I’ll sit here and say about 21? 22? maybe for age reference?
character/s: yamamoto takeshi, reader (gender-neutral)
word count: 1,477
warnings: swearing. idk blue screen of death fuck that shit. emotional breakdown and self depreciation
prompt: absolutely nothing was going right, and this was the final straw
Tumblr media
You were going to scream. On god.
You dropped your head onto your desk, barely registering the pain from the solid wood, before turning your head to rest your cheek against it so you could stare up at your computer screen. It hurt your eyes, but you continued to try and work like this, eyes straining to watch the cursor move.
You stopped, listening quietly as your computer’s already constant whirring got louder, hoping if you waited it’d slow down, only to then watch your screen go black, then a bright, obnoxious blue that hurt your eyes, and the whirring died off immediately.
You were still, blinking slowly. You took a slow breath, sitting up and reaching somewhere around your PC for where your shitty wired mouse was connected. Once you disconnected it, you stood and with as much strength as you could muster, threw the mouse at the wall opposite you with a loud scream.
You fell back down into your chair with another yell, struggling to shove your keyboard to the side and out of the way before dropping your head onto your desk again, and a third time for good measure.
“Stupid fuckin’… ass computer! Bitch!”
The swearing didn’t make the screen return to your work, though. It’d have been nice if it did.
It was between your loud complaining that someone opened the door to check on you, unable to see you over your monitor. They could hear you, though. Definitely.
“Bitch ass computer probably wants me to fuckin’ die,” you’d ground out, dropping a hand and grunting irritably when it hit your keyboard again. “Stupid fucking-“
“Hey, hey, what’s wrong?”
You shot up to look over at Takeshi as he closed the door to your room quietly.
You’d gone on about “hosting the get together today, because even if I’m busy I’d feel bad about not being there anyway, and maybe takin’ a break with you all might help!” and whatnot. So everyone downstairs had heard your yelling, and promptly sent Takeshi up to check on you.
“Haah, this stupid piece of shit I can’t afford to replace went and fucking died on me and now all my shit is gone and I won’t be able to submit my work and then I’ll have no certificates and I won’t be taken seriously even though helping you lot is illegal anyways I want to have something to prove I’m not stupid but—!”
You’d probably ramble for days about it, if you had the breath to, but you heaved out a couch and waved him off, turning to cough into your elbow.
Takeshi waited patiently, quietly, for you to get yourself together.
“Feh, and look at that, givin’ up on my health for this shit definitely worked out in my favour, huh?” You muttered into your arm, brows furrowing. To some degree, he’d noticed, you’d definitely been unwell. But when it was ever brought up in the vaguest way possible, you avoided the topic.
“You alright?”
You glanced at him, eyes narrowed. “‘M fine.”
It was quiet for a moment.
“I’m fine,” you insisted, even though he had not spoken again. “I am fine!”
“I’m f-fine, dammit!”
He wasn’t really surprised by the sudden onslaught of tears, watching you fall back down onto your desk chair, the creaking only serving to upset you further.
“My life is gonna f-fall apart, probably, but I’m just fine.”
Takeshi rounded your desk and shuffled between you and the table, crouching down to meet your eyes.
“That’s not true.” He tilted his head. “Can’t say workin’ in the mafia is the best way to put business and financial skills to use, but…”
“Wish I could fuckin’ fight or something,” you grumbled, sniffling. “Wouldn’t have to worry about a piece of shit certificate. Shit’s illegal anyways, don’t know why I’m working so damn hard for one in the first place.”
“It’s nice, to have something that validates you and your skills,” he mumbled. “It’s nice to strive for those things, to have goals. More than anything, I wish you’d keep making goals like these.”
He tapped the back of his hand to your knee, stroking gently. “You’re amazing, doing all this. Not giving up despite it all. Putting your all into it for the sake of helping others.”
He offered you a small smile. “More than any of us, you’re incredible. I admire that. Thank you for working so hard for our sake.”
His shoulders slumped when your tears returned stronger, face scrunching up. You hunched over, head hanging between your knees.
“I’m really proud of you,” Takeshi murmured. “You’re doing an excellent job.”
“A-Am I?” You covered your face with your hands, body trembling. “I-I can’t do anything at all to h-help you, I keep f-falling behind, I couldn’t even find a damn j-job to keep this up and had to r-rely on others…”
You pushed at your cheeks, pulling on the skin as you tried to rid of your tears, but it did not work. “I-I’m really not that great…!”
“I think you’re amazing.” Takeshi shifted so he could sit on the floor properly, leaning back on his hands, his head knocking against your desk gently. “You’re super amazing.”
“You’re even in college! None of us got that far.”
“G-Gokudera probably could,” you muttered, tone spiteful, but not at him. Never at your friends. Takeshi could hear self depreciation a mile away, but with you it was even easier. It broke his heart.
“Maybe.” He was quiet for a bit. “But, you’re still super smart. You’re one of the smartest people I know.”
Before you could say something like “but Gokudera and Reborn”, he continued, “I also know you’ll help us more than you think. There’s no way we’d be where we are without people like you supporting us.”
“The… The Vongola wouldn’t have gotten where it is without the silent supporters like you. Right?”
You shifted, sniffling. Takeshi didn’t talk much about the Vongola despite being a Guardian, so when he did, you found it best to listen.
“Not everyone needs to fight, physically at least.” Takeshi leant forward, and this promoted you to look up at him from where your head hung. “Technically, you’re as strong as you need to be. Doing what you do best.”
“Shouldn’t I be stronger…?” You shifted to rest your forearms on your knees, pushing yourself up. “If I could fight-“
“Do you want to fight?”
You blinked slowly, thinking this over quietly. You eventually shook your head, slowly, and he smiled at this.
“Then why would we make you? Let us fight for you.”
“You shouldn’t have to fight, either.”
He contemplated this before smiling again, but a little smaller.
“No, we really shouldn’t. But, it is what it is, I guess. We’ve gotten this far, so…”
You sniffed again, looking off to the side. “I’m still… not that great.”
“I think you’re amazing.”
You were quiet before pointing at your computer tower. “D’you know any tech nerds who might be able to fix this thing…? If I could get my work back, that’d be a miracle and would save another breakdown, but getting a better computer is probably a good place to start.”
“When is your work due?”
You were dead silent, and while Takeshi almost expected you to drop ‘tomorrow’ on him, you didn’t.
“In two weeks, but I wanted to get it out of the way as soon as possible so it wouldn’t get in the way of things. I just spent nearly forty-eight hours on it and it’d piss me off if I lost it all.”
He let out a small, surprised laugh at this. “You’re an incredible student, y’know. Your teachers must love you.”
You pulled a face at this. “Well, sometimes… Academically, maybe, but behaviour wise…”
Takeshi got to his feet despite this. “Well, we know some people whore great with this kind of stuff. One of them should be able to help you.”
You watched him quietly, and he smiled despite your very obviously tired and still upset expression.
“Sitting in here won’t make you feel any better, so come join us. We’ll call them and ask them to help you out, okay? It’ll be okay. You’re incredible, so I know you’ll be okay.”
“If I’m not?”
“Then I’ll help you.”
You watched him for a second longer before he held out a hand to you. You grunted lowly, taking it and standing with his help.
You both froze, watching your desk chair promptly fall apart, a bolt rolling across the floor to the other side of the room.
“Ah, they could probably fix your chair, too,” Takeshi added on quickly when he felt you tense up. “Actually, we could just get you a new one.”
“A new one would be nice. Having a breakdown in a comfier chair might be nice.”

Just had a sudden thought because I just saw a fanart of Obi Wan and I am watching Takeshi kick Genkishi's ass but what if Yamamoto with lightsaber? Imagine the absolute chaos. Takeshi would thrive on it, especially because Gokudera would hate that so much and we all know Yamamoto likes to annoy him as a pastime, more on the chaos, just imagine Hibari's and Mukuro's reactions. Now, that would be really hilarious!
But yeh, just a silly thought I had

(TW: Mentions of violence)
What if Tsuna's guardian situation -- specifically that concerning his Right and Left Hands -- is far more absurd than anyone's willing to tell him.
Imagine a Gokudera Hayato on the streets of Italy, sought after by every family for his incredibly powerful flames and genius-level intelligence. He eventually gets so fed up with all the people trying to force him to work for them that he acquires his nickname "Smoking Bomb" -- he blows up anyone who has the audacity to attempt to get him as a subordinate.
Imagine a Yamamoto Takeshi as a natural-born-killer in a world where that is a clinical diagnosis. Unlike civilian psychopaths, natural-born-killers -- whose brain chemistry is even more out of whack thanks to flames -- actually do have an inborn drive to kill, and maim, and make other people hurt. Sure, sometimes a natural-born-killer may imprint on someone, and are able to see that single person as not-a-target, and then that person is safe from brutal gory murder, but... normally even that doesn't last too long...
Imagine Tsuna stepping foot on Italian soil for the first time. Hayato is at his right shoulder, refusing to call Tsuna anything but 'Boss' or 'Tenth' in public. Takeshi is at his left shoulder, resolutely protective of anyone Tsuna calls his own, steadfastly loyal in a way that is undeniably permanent.
(Imagine Mukuro Rokudo, a literal Vindice escapee famous for going on a murder spree of bosses from multiple families because he hates them as a concept that much.
(Imagine Hibari Kyoya, the son in a long line of the most independent clouds to have ever existed, each ranked more independent than the last. Not a single member of his family has ever served under a sky. Anyone who has met Hibari can tell you he should be no exception.
And so on...)

A series of small snippets that is like an imagination of how I would change some canon events for thread/characterization rework purposes for @signorinavongola's verse. Guest muses of mine: Hibari, and Haru, mainly. Mostly manga-centric but may have taken some inspo from anime. I did write a bit of some other characters I don't personally muse, so excuse if they seem off.

[No chapter number. New conent: Reborn meets Yamamoto before he meets Tsuna for the first time]
“Oi, kid! Watch out!” Reborn suddenly emerged from some bushes he was using as cover as he was making his way to the Sawada household.
A ball was quickly approaching, and transforming the chameleon on his hat into a catching mitt, the child catches the ball with each, much to the surprise of the person. Reborn himself was quite impressed by the weight behind the ball he felt when he caught it.
‘This guy has quite the throwing arm.’
“Wow, you caught that? You’re impressive, little guy! Sorry about that, normally people aren’t in this area at this time of day.” Yamamoto admits.
“I’m a talented guy. Are you practicing your pitches?” Reborn asks, quite curious to see just how skilled this guy was. He looked to be around the same age as his future charge. He had to cut Dino’s education short in favor of raising the next 10th generation Vongola boss.
Seeing as he was practicing in a park nearby the Sawada household… there was a chance they were schoolmates.
“Yeah, I’m on the baseball team and I’m always practicing hard to not let my team down. We aim for Koshien, after all!” Yamamoto grins with pride.
There was some time before he had to arrive at the Sawada household. He was intending to observe her for a bit before starting the home tutor plan anyways, so killing some time with this kid wouldn’t be a problem.
“I can catch some pitches for you. Show me what you got.” Reborn tosses the ball back to the guy. “You can call me kid for now. If you learn my name, I’d have to kill you.” Was this part of his dry humor or was he being serious? Hard to tell with Reborn, sometimes.
Yamamoto takes it as a joke and laughs. “Sure, I’ll call you kiddo then! The names Yamamoto Takeshi by the way. Are you really going to be okay to catch some of my pitches?”
Reborn waves the green catching mitt in his hand. “I caught your first pitch, didn’t I? Stop asking stupid questions and get ready.”
“Aye aye!”

[No chapter number. New conent: Reborn continued to catch some of Yamamoto’s pitches in secret without Tsuna or anyone knowing.]
Reborn was sure of it after a couple of encounters. Yamamoto Takeshi was a guy of talent. His athleticism was impressive, and he had a pleasant personality.
A talented athlete and a pleasant personality was a formula for a popular guy, and that could only help Tsuna who was a ‘no good’ who had virtually no friends.
Having done a background check on the guy, Reborn found out that Yamamoto and Tsuna went to the same school, and that his father was a user of the Shigure Souen Ryu sword style. From his investigation, Yamamoto didn’t learn the swordstyle in favor of prioritizing his love for baseball.
More and more Yamamoto was starting to stand out as a candidate for a member of Tsuna’s future famiglia.
SIGH
“You see, I’ve had to travel a long way to help raise someone on the request of an old friend of mine.” Reborn starts to speak a little bit about himself, knowing that in doing so, he could catch Yamamoto’s attention.
He was a friendly guy, so befriending others was just second nature to him. Learning about someone was the easiest way to make new friends!
“Yeah? Where did you travel from, kiddo?”
“From Italy. I can see that my work is cut out for me, but I can see the potential she has.” Having faith in Giotto’s line, Tsuna had to have the potential.
Look at Iemitsu, after all. He was a force to be reckoned with, so there had to be some potential in Tsuna that would lead her to be an exemplary mafia boss in the future.
Yamamoto couldn’t imagine why someone would travel all the way from Italy to ‘raise’ someone. Maybe he meant something else? Bringing someone all the way from Italy must be expensive, and he didn’t think anyone in the immediate area would have the funds to do such a thing.
“What, are you a part of the mafia?” Yamamoto jokes because of Reborn’s penchant for always wearing suits and being from Italy. You know, those Godfather kinda movies? That’s the kind of vibe Reborn gave off.
“Exactly.”
EH?
Yamamoto dropped the ball that he was idly tossing up and down to stare at Reborn in shock. Was Reborn really a part of the Italian mafia? He came all the way here… to JAPAN to raise someone? That had to be a really big deal then, right?
“Ah… why are you raising someone? It couldn’t be something like finding a long-lost Don or something, right? That’d be like a movie.”
“Close. You’re intuitive.” Even though he knew that Yamamoto was just joking, it was impressive that he somehow got it right. Yamamoto gave off an idiotic vibe, but he wasn’t an idiot. It was clear that he simply used all of his time to focus on baseball.
That kind of drive was impressive and a desired trait for a guardian. Someone who could keep focus was important. If he could move some of that loyalty to baseball to his boss, then Tsuna would be safer from attack—and betrayal.
“She is going to be a future mafia don, and she’s been fighting me every step of the way about it.” Reborn sighs, a bit for dramatic effect to catch Yamamoto’s attention. “She has so much potential that she’s wasting, what a shame. I want for her to make more friends, ones who wouldn’t be afraid of her background.”
Yamamoto was all for making new friends, but there were obviously some circumstances to consider. What school did she go to, how far away did she live, did she even want to make friends with someone like him, etc?
It would be more convenient if they went to the same school, but considering how the kid didn’t give much else information about his charge, it was clear that he was being secretive for a reason.
‘Guess that makes sense, if she’s a future mafia boss, the less people who know, the better, right?’ It made all the more sense why the kid had yet to reveal his name yet. Knowing the name of the next mafia boss’s teacher was big information.
“Right, I think she goes to your school. She’s a good kid, not meant to be a mafia boss.” Reborn laments with another (fake) sigh. It was true that Tsuna wasn’t a good fit for the mafia as things stood now, but he was confident in his ability to raise good mafia bosses.
Look at Dino, he was a great student… if you ignore the fact that he’s useless if his famiglia isn’t around. Tch. It would’ve been fine if he had more time to train him.
Well, that’s history. He’ll be fine in time.
“Why does she have to be a mafia boss then? Can’t someone else take the job?” Yamamoto couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.
“She’s the only one left who can take on the role. Every other candidate died. She’s our last hope, so I’ve been sent to protect her and raise her to be the next mafia boss.” It was a bit risky to reveal this information, but the results should outweigh the risks.
This Yamamoto guy seemed to be a righteous fellow. Knowing that a girl had no way out of a situation that was forced upon her and her life could be in trouble… it would stir something in him.
Chivalry never died, and he could tell that Yamamoto was worried by the way his eyebrows furrowed with the news.
“It’s that dangerous for her, huh?” The kid said that she went to the same school as him… so they should be around the same age, give or take 2 or 3 years. He couldn’t imagine a girl around his age being forced to train to be a mafia boss at such an age.
The fact that all the other candidates died was also worrying him, to know that she might be targeted next.
“If… fate has it so we cross paths, hopefully I can help you look after her. Maybe we can be friends.” It would be hard for him to do if he didn’t know her identity, though.
Reborn smiles. Excellent, all according to plan. He’s gotten Yamamoto somewhat interested in joining the mafia for Tsuna’s benefit. “Thanks. We won’t force you into anything.”
Tsuna wouldn’t tolerate it if another person was forced into the mafia against their will and he didn’t want to act against her wishes.
Still, it was good enough that Yamamoto was willing to consider helping out, even if a little bit.
“Alright, you rested enough. Let’s practice your swings next. Let’s see if you improved from the last time.”
“Yes sir!”

[Chapter 4- Gokudera attitude change towards Tsu-chan]
It was only just a day and the new transfer students attitude towards Tsuna changed. It was like night and day with him starting off by kicking over her desk and now…
“Good morning, Juudaime!” The guy suddenly bows respectfully towards her. The whole class is understandably shocked by this change in development.
Yamamoto couldn’t help but think that the way this Gokudera guy was acting now was almost like… a dog? Maybe something like a Lonewolf who decided that it was okay with joining your pack.
Hearing some of the hushed whispers around him, he notes that it was mostly coming from the girls. Probably the jealousy. The girls had banded together and made a fanclub for Gokudera within a day and some girls were already seething with jealousy over how Gokudera was pouring all his attention into Tsuna.
The athlete makes a mental note that he may look out for her for a while, just to make sure that the girls wouldn’t go too far with their jealousy. The hazing or the bullying that some girls go through because of guys wasn’t new to him, but it wasn’t something he liked.
It may have been the reason why his own fans were more tame in comparison to Gokudera’s fans. They knew that he wouldn’t like underhanded methods and getting caught put you on the fastest track of Yamamoto having a bad opinion of you for the rest of… well… forever!
‘Ah… so Gokudera doesn’t have a filter when getting mad at girls, does he?’ Yamamoto mentally laughs to himself at how the transfer student was getting peeved at the girls. ‘Maybe he’s sensitive to attention? Could be that he’s just crabby 24/7. He needs to get more calcium in his diet.’
This Gokudera Hayato guy is real interesting. A real funny guy.
With that, it made Tsuna interesting as well, considering it only took a day for the two to become friends…?
‘Juudaime, huh? I wonder… is the girl that kiddo is training, Tsuna?’

[Ch. 5 So I did discuss it before that the rooftop scene would have to change for several reasons, but it could be kept if we take into the account that I changed how Reborn and Yamamoto met. Seeing as he knows that Reborn is tutoring Tsuna and trying to make her into a mafia boss, and how he says that she has potential, Yamamoto has the understanding that she has secret skills. He thinks that she is hiding her potential and therefore may understand some of his struggles with baseball. As such, he could still ask her casually about some advice, and that leads him to overtraining himself and hurting his arm.
We talked about how Tsu-chan can save him when he accidentally falls from the rooftop as it happened in canon. This will solidify his interest in Tsu-chan and have him gain respect for her because of her willingness to go that distance for someone. It’s not easy for people to jump in to save another person at the risk of your own life, so he would respect her for that.
Additionally, seeing that her… clothes… yeah, after the dying will bullets are used on her, he’d probably cover her with his jacket and lead her to the nurses office so she can get changed into any spare clothes that she probably has with her (maybe a spare outfit, or gym clothes).
This would be very Tsuna conversation heavy and I won’t godmod a muse’s speech, so I chose to write a synopsis instead.]

[Ch.10 Slight change in how Yamamoto reacts to meeting Reborn for the ‘first time’ due to changes in this verse]
“Hey, Gokudera… what’s up with calling me out and having a silent stare down?” Yamamoto still wasn’t very well acquainted with Gokudera yet, but he would answer to summons because curiosity got the best of him.
He was called out to the field by Gokudera, not knowing it was because Gokudera was somehow unsatisfied with Reborn’s plans to add Yamamoto to the roster of Tsuna’s guardians.
“Dude, you should have some milk. Ill temper is usually caused by a lack of calcium.” Yamamoto truly thought he was giving Gokudera some helpful advice, telling him to consume more calcium. It should help him with his temper.
Before Gokudera could even react by lighting his dynamites, Tsuna arrives with Reborn in tow.
“Ciaossu.”
“Yo, kiddo.” Yamamoto glances between Reborn and Tsuna. He’d had his suspicions but they weren’t confirmed until now. “I thought so, Tsuna is your charge you’re raising, huh?”
“That’s right. You said you’d be willing to be her friend and help out when you could.” Reborn answers calmly, ignoring whatever Tsuna and Gokudera had to say. He saw the potential in Yamamoto, and he wasn’t going to give up on having him join the famiglia for Tsuna’s sake.
Not only that, a healthy dose of competitive spirit between guardians promoted good growth, so having someone who could make Gokudera feel threatened was for the best. If he doesn’t continue to hone his skills and better himself, then the right hand position could easily go to the amicable and skilled, Yamamoto Takeshi.
There was indeed methods to his madness.
Gokudera was still strongly against Yamamoto joining the famiglia while Tsuna was mostly confused about how Yamamoto and Reborn knew eachother, but when did he ever need to explain himself to her?
Just like he would with Lambo, he ignored her questions in favor of putting Yamamoto (and Tsuna) to the test. It’s important to not only test his skills but to also see how well he can work in tandem with Tsuna.
“You did say that I have the option of backing out if I want to, right?” Yamamoto confirmed with the arcobaleno.
“That’s right.”
Well, Reborn didn’t have any intention of letting Yamamoto go. If the guy starts having doubts, Reborn had his ways of making the guy change his mind, so that he’ll never want to back out. It wouldn’t be a lie in that case.
Reborn hops onto Yamamoto’s shoulder, “Tsuna is my charge, the 10th head of the famiglia. Gokudera is a subordinate.”
“Sounds good, count me in for now.”
“Good. First thing’s first, time for the famiglia entrance test.”

[Ch.11 Haru’s introduction chapter- which obviously has to change because of the premise of them being childhood friends who were apart for a bit of time due to school and other reasons]
One morning, Reborn and Tsuna were strolling to school as they normally would in the morning, but they get stopped by a familiar voice (to one of them).
“Hold it! Haru had been observing you for some time now, and Haru needs answers. Tsu-chan, when did you have a new brother and not tell me about it?” She should know how much Haru adored children, so not telling her about a new brother… sacrilege! A betrayal! So mean-desu!
Not only that, “Haru also noticed you play mafia all the time. What kind of bad games are you playing with such a young child, Tsu-chan? Are you being forced into it by some of the neighboring kids?” Though it’s been some time since they last met, Haru and Tsuna were still childhood friends and she liked to believe she understood her friend well.
This wasn’t a kind of game that she would play with a kid, so there had to be a reason behind it. Maybe she was being bullied into it. If her friend needed someone who would sternly tell the bullies ‘no, we won’t play a game that is a bad influence on kids’ she’ll do it! She’ll be the first to volunteer!
“If you’re struggling to tell the bullies to stop playing the mafia game, Haru will do it for you to stop playing such a dangerous game with the baby.”
Reborn decides to act in Tsuna’s stead. “First off, I’m Tsuna’s tutor. It’s my job to raise Tsuna to be the 10th boss of the mafia. I cannot be separated from her until then.”
“… You’re taking the game too far! Tsu-chan, I can’t believe you!” As always, Haru was a firecracker when she was angered. She always acts or talks first and only when she’s calmed down would she listen.
Her phone beeps, and she quickly says her farewells before heading to school.
.
[New content alert!: Yamamoto consulting with Tsuna after noticing something is off about her]
.
“Hm? You had a fight with a friend?” Yamamoto couldn’t think of any friends Tsuna had in class aside from himself and Gokudera.
He listens to her recount what happened and the history that she had with her friend. So she had a ‘fight’ with her childhood friend. “To me, it just sounds like she misunderstood the situation because she doesn’t know the full details.”
Understandably, Tsuna didn’t have many friends, so it must be scary to think that she could lose one of her only friends. From what Tsuna had to say about this Haru girl, she seemed to be a smart and friendly person.
She had strong convictions and she was always ready to get mad at bullies on her behalf. Tsuna was worried about Haru finding out about how she is at school, so she put some distance between them. It worked out because as first years in middle school, they were busy adjusting to a new school.
“I dunno her, but from what you had to say about your Haru friend, she sounds like a good person who cares a lot about you.” Haru didn’t seem to care that Tsuna wasn’t the smartest, nor the most athletic. “I think, if you tried to talk to her again, she’d be willing to listen to you.”
This Haru girl liked Tsuna for her personality, so she should be willing to listen after her initial anger wears off. Surely she’d be willing to listen once she cools off? That’s Yamamoto’s theory, anyways.
He pats Tsuna’s shoulder, comfortingly. “How about this? I’ll get up earlier to walk with you to school tomorrow. I can give you support as you talk to her tomorrow, okay?”
Yamamoto Takeshi, the best support.
.
[Back to regular scheduled programming. Haru confronts Tsuna and Yamamoto at the bridge]
.
“Good morning. It’s come to Haru’s attention that Reborn-chan is indeed a hitman and he is in fact training you to become a 10th generation mafia boss. Haru will put aside the fact she’s disappointed that you didn’t say anything to Haru.” Was she not your childhood friend?
Do childhood friends not talk to each other about important things in life? Was finding out you’re an upcoming mafia boss not big news to tell your childhood best friend? HM??? Haru would tell you if she fell in love for the first time (and it wasn’t cake)!
“If all that is true, then that means he’s been training you to be strong.” Haru has always known Tsuna to be a bit timid and weak to confrontations. She didn’t like to have fights with others and she’d much rather let things go than to confront someone.
That didn’t seem like a good quality to have for an upcoming mafia boss. Of course, Tsuna had a good heart. She cared for others and wanted things to be fair. She didn’t like to see others be hurt. That was what Haru liked about her… but… the mafia is different from her nature, isn’t it? Would she be able to fit in?
Did she have what it takes to truly be a mafia boss? (Bianchi may have ‘forgotten’ to mention that Tsuna was against being the next mafia boss and was actively trying to get out of it.)
“Haru understands that the mafia has to be strong and sometimes be cut-throat. If so, you may have to fight against old friends turned foe. Haru doesn’t want to, but-! As a friend, she will test you!” That would explain why she was wearing a suit of armor and holding a hockey stick in the morning.
Haru Miura was always so dramatic and… weird. Yamamoto was looking between Haru and Tsuna worriedly. It was good that it seemed that Haru now understood the situation, but… was Tsuna going to be okay with fighting her friend?
To him, it looked like Haru was very concerned with Tsuna and wanted to make sure her friend had the backbone necessary to be a boss. Otherwise, people would only walk over her and not respect her.
Well, that’s his theory anyways, given how she looks like she’s going to cry as she resolves herself to test her friend.
“Nyahaha! Lambo-san arrives! Reborn, I found you! DIE!” Another kid comes out of no where and throws a few grenades out.
Everyone took cover, but Haru couldn’t move so quickly with the bulky armor she had on. She was launched off the bridge and into the water below.
Surprisingly, before Yamamoto could think to react, Tsuna had already jumped into the water after her friend. It was reminiscent of how she also jumped off the rooftop to save him when he accidentally fell.
Not wanting for Reborn to shoot her with a bullet, resulting in her clothes being blown off, he jumps in right after the both of them. The armor looked heavy, so it would be too much for Tsuna to bring Haru back to safety.
He pulls the both of them to safety and helps them both dry themselves off. Haru changes into the spare clothes that she had hidden away nearby, and Tsuna changed into new clothes as well. A habit because of her clothes always being blasted off.
SNIFF
“Haru is sorry… she was just worried about you, and she was scared that you wouldn’t want to stand up for yourself if anyone disrespects you. Tsu-chan has always been too nice and timid to fight for herself.”
That was a fact that no one could deny. Haru had a pretty good understanding of her friend. She wasn’t well suited to be a mafia boss, but it didn’t seem like there was a choice in the matter.
“Haru thought that she could give you some of her own fighting spirit, you know? Maybe then you’ll be able to handle things… but… Haru sees that you do have a lot of bravery that you show in your own way. Thank you for jumping in after her, Tsu-chan.” Haru smiles, feeling proud of her friend.
She jumped in so soon after Haru was blown off the bridge, so she must not have hesitated. That took a lot of courage to do, and if she had that much courage… surely she’d be fine even if she had to be a mafia boss.
“Haha, I’m just glad that things turned out okay in the end. Usually, Tsuna goes into this crazy wild mode and her clothes go missing, leaving her in her underwear.” Yamamoto explains why he jumped in after the both of them so that Reborn wouldn’t have to act.
“Hahi! Your clothes disappear? That’s no good! If only your underwear survives… perhaps you could consider sportswear underneath your uniform?” That would at least offer a bit more modesty than being in only your undergarments.
She had yet another reason to be worried about her friend now. What girl would want to be found almost naked out in public where people could sneer and oogle? Not on her watch! “It’s settled,” Haru grabs Tsuna’s shoulders, “we’re going shopping this weekend. We’ll find clothes you can wear under your uniform so it’s less revealing. Haru isn’t taking no for an answer.”
The arcobaleno was watching over them chatting at the bank of the river from the bridge after having finished punishing Lambo for his stupidity.
“Hm… she looks like she’ll be a good influence on Tsuna. The necessary feminine touch she needs and a good friend to use as emotional support.” Reborn was impressed by the fact that Haru had recovered so quickly after being blown off the bridge.
Not only that, she accepted the fact that Reborn was a hitman and that Tsuna was a next generation mafia boss, but she still confronted her friend. That took a lot of guts. “She’d be the perfect example of a strong wife to the mafia. Tsuna can learn more from her example, about her guts.”
Of course, Tsuna and Haru's situation would be different. Haru could marry a mafiosi but Tsuna would eventually marry someone into her famiglia and retain her position as the matriarch.
Still, she could learn a thing or two from Haru's guts.
Guess he was going to look into inviting Haru to more things so she can rekindle her friendship with Tsuna again.
“Juudaime! What happened? Was it an attack? Who the hell is this? Get your paws off her, woman!”
“HAHI! WHO IS THIS RUDE RUFFIAN!? Tsu-chan do you know him?” Haru hugs her friend close to her and hisses at the new person who ran up to them. “Haru is Tsu-chan’s childhood friend, you ruffian! Bother Tsu-chan and you’ll answer to Haru!” She hisses again.
It seemed that Haru and Gokudera’s tempers weren’t a very good match because they instantly started fighting with each other.
Yamamoto laughs, “Maa maa, let’s calm down. Tsuna is okay, there was a small incident earlier. Despite how he looks, Gokudera is a decent guy, you know? He’s one of Tsuna’s friends.”
Haru makes a face, to suggest she 100% did not believe Yamamoto. “Haru is okay with you being her friend… but that one… Haru isn’t so sure. He looks like a yankee.” In that moment, Haru vowed to visit Tsuna more often to make sure Gokudera wasn’t being a bad influence on her.
The day Tsuna starts smoking, gets tattoos, or anything, she was going to start a fight with this Gokudera punk.
Round two of Gokudera and Haru fighting with each other.

[Ch.16 Just a small lil thing for when they meet Hibari for the first time in reception room. Mostly to highlight a small change in some dynamics- this will be canon to my portrayal of Hibari if we do thread with Tsu-chan and Hibari.]
The trio of friends were eating their lunch atop of the rooftop, discussing how summer vacation seemed to come and go so quickly that it felt sad. Supplementary classes really didn’t help with the matter, of course.
That’s when Reborn comes in and suggests that they make some kind of a hideout for themselves. A secret base of sorts, which both Yamamoto and Gokudera were in favor of. The sun arcobaleno suggests the reception room as prime real estate for their hideout.
The view is excellent, the geographical location was convenient, and there furniture placed inside the reception were good quality.
“Hee—I didn’t know we had such a good room.” Yamamoto is the first to open the door to look in.
What he and the others didn’t know was that Hibari was already in the room, a dangerous viper ready to strike at the first sign of inconvenience or disobedience.
Still in a bad mood from the previous annoyance from before, Hibari’s patience meter was already teetering on the edge of nonexistence.
Just earlier in the day he’d had to bite a few students for thinking they could gang up against him with their numbers—but this was a lesson Hibari doled out dutifully as the disciplinary committee president.
Did they think he was the ruler of the delinquents for no reason?
“Who are you?”
Yamamoto pauses, recognizing him right away. It was understandable for Gokudera to not know of him yet, even daring to step past him. “Who is he?”
The athlete does try to stop him, “Gokudera, wait…”
“Won’t you put out your cigarette in front of the disciplinary committee president?” He was readying himself to act within a seconds. “Well, either way, I won’t let you get away.”
The tumultuous storm always had a volatile temper and he argues back, which was quickly met with Hibari snuffing out the lit cigarette with his tonfa. With his swift movements, he’d managed to cut the cigarette just shy of taking his nose along with it.
“Put it out.” The gall this student had to smoke on school grounds, and the absolute balls of steel to do so in front of him.
Quick to react, possibly due to his history of being on the streets, Gokudera jumped back.
With how swiftly Hibari acted against Gokudera, Yamamoto knew that this upperclassman was in a league entirely of his own. The reputation preceded him, a guy who would beat up anyone with his tonfas regardless of who they were.
“I really hate weak herbivorous animals that form groups. Whenever I see them, I really want to bite them to death.” It was always the weak animals that thought the answer to their problems was to band together and overpower the strong with their numbers.
Troublesome students would band together with their numbers to challenge his decrees as if they had any power over him.
Tsuna, who was behind both boys wanted to walk past them to look at the reception room herself, but both the boys were highly alert to how much of a threat Hibari was. One could simply chalk it up to chivalry or a sense of duty to protect a girl, neither of them allowed her to get past them.
Hibari had already noticed there was yet another herbivore who had yet to announce themselves to him. What coward had hidden themselves away behind the two bigger herbivores? “Which herbivore is hiding behind you?” He asks casually, which quickly ignited the tension in the room.
In particular, Gokudera was the first to react, his dynamites at the ready. No one would harm his boss while he was still standing, and Yamamoto wasn’t one to let his friend go in on his own, preferring to act as supplementary back up.
With swift movements, Hibari made quick work of Gokudera by deftly sidestepping past him and swiping him across the face with his tonfa. “One.”
Seeing his friend injured, Yamamoto is angered, easily getting into the concentration mode to allow him to dodge past some of Hibari’s attacks, that weren’t made in seriousness (not that he’d know).
Hibari made the quick assessment that Yamamoto Takeshi was the more ‘fun’ of the herbivores that dared encroach his territory. He had good speed, good reflexes, but… it was obvious to his eye that he was protecting his right hand.
Right, he was a favored member of the baseball team who had recently caused a stir within the student body with his rooftop stint. “Are you injured? You seem to be protecting your right hand.” He taunts the baseballer.
That moment of hesitation on Yamamoto’s part gave the elder student the opening to kick him into the all across the room. “Two.”
Cold eyes finally flit over to the final student standing in the doorway. A girl. One who was still in shock over how quickly he dispatched her two friends. No, perhaps they were something akin to bodyguards?
“They won’t be waking up any time soon, I made sure of that.” Hibari walks over to grab Gokudera and Yamamoto by the backs of their shirts.
There was no amusement in beating a terrified and unwilling ‘combatant’ if she could even be called such. As she’d yet to step into the reception room, she was granted amnesty in being spared from disciplinary action.
Not to say that he wouldn’t be against fighting and punishing a female if the situation called for it, but he didn’t see the need to punish someone who hadn’t explicitly warranted such an action.
Dragging both unconscious guys behind him, he walks over to the opened window. It was readily evident that he had intentions of throwing the two out the window, much to Tsuna’s aghast surprise.
Then, a baby appears suddenly, shooting the female student, to Hibari’s surprise. How a baby managed to climb to his floor was surprising enough, but to have also evade his detection until now was another thing entirely.
‘Public indecency?’
+1 to the accruing charges of trespassing, crowding, AND now stripping out of her clothing, screaming loudly about something inane. With those charges stacked against her and her rushing at him, Hibari uppercuts her chin to render her immobile in the quickest way possible.
The shock would be enough to take her out of the fight, and he’d made sure to control the output of his strength as to not crush her chin.
It may leave a bruise, however.
Turning to address the fallen boys, Tsuna gets up and smacks him twice with a slipper, taking him by surprise.
“…” Taking a moment to process what had just happened, he concludes that some herbivorous animal had bared her teeth at him and landed two hits with a rudimentary weapon- a slipper. Looks like he’d underestimated her. “Hey… can I kill you?”
“That’s enough. You’re strong after all.” The baby from before interrupts them.
“I don’t know who you are, but I’m very irritated right now. Would you sit there and wait for me?” No, not even babies would be spared from his ‘tyrannical might,’ so Hibari strikes against the arcobaleno, to only be halted.
It was one surprise after another!
A girl who surprisingly had more bite to her, and a baby who had an impressive amount of skill. “Wao. You’re amazing.”
“Let’s break things up.” Reborn reveals a bomb in his hand and it sets off, allowing Tsuna and the rest of get away safely- for now.

[Ch.22 I REFUSE to allow for them to forget about Tsuna’s birthday for the ‘comedic effect’. If Haru is childhood friends, she’s going to remember and change that. HMPH!]
“How exciting! It’s almost Reborn-chan’s birthday? Of course, Haru would love to help with the preparations for it!” Haru is enthusiastic about the invite to join in the celebrations of Reborn’s birthday.
Haru thought it was odd that Tsu-chan wasn’t the one informing her about the surprise, but then she realized that with how close their birthdays were to each other, this had to be a joint birthday celebration?
With how busy Haru was on the daily, her schedule was always very hectic, and the same could be said for Yamamoto as well who was busy with sports. They sometimes crossed paths by mere coincidence when she got out of tutoring and him out of practice.
That was likely the reason why he brought it up to her being the first one to come across her.
Looking from side to side, she ensures that Tsuna isn’t nearby for the rest of this conversation. “Ne, Haru is just asking out of curiosity, but why aren’t you talking about Tsu-chan’s birthday as well? Are you having separate celebrations?”
If so… why wasn’t she invited? RUDE!
The look of confusion on Yamamot’s face made Haru squint her eyes skeptically. Surely even Tsuna’s mother wouldn’t have forgotten her own daughter’s birthday…? Surely she brought it up at least once?
‘Maybe she’s just been so busy with caring for all the kids it slipped her mind?’
Understanding of how busy Nana could be, maybe that was the reasoning behind it… but it still didn’t sit right with her. “Well… Tsu-chan’s birthday is the day after Reborn-chan’s birthday. Planning two consecutive parties is a lot, so it would make sense to celebrate them together, right?”
Haru Miura is not one to forget important dates, and Tsu-chan’s birthday was one she always remembered every single year. If they couldn’t find the time to celebrate together in person, Haru always made sure to send a small package with a gift to the Sawada household, so it wasn’t like she’d suddenly forget for this year.
“Ah, is it?” Yamamoto laughs awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head. He had no idea that it was also her birthday so soon. They’d only been planning the party for Reborn, but they could probably make some changes to the plan to account for Tsuna’s birthday celebrations as well.
No one would want to feel left out or forgotten, after all. Without Haru saying something, Tsuna would’ve felt disappointed or hurt by them forgetting about her.
“That’s the great thing about childhood friends, huh? You’ll make sure to have Tsuna’s back. Let’s think of some ideas to propose to the others to incorporate Tsuna as well to the plans.”
“Hahi! Haru would love that! Ah- but is Gokudera-san going to be attending the planning sessions as well…?” Haru asks quietly.
Yamamoto chuckles, noticing how easily Haru showed her emotions on her face. It was clear that she didn’t get along with him and was hoping that the answer to the question would be ‘no’.
Then again, with how often they bicker whenever they’re in the same room, it was understandable that she didn’t like him very much. “Sorry, I can try talking to him to be less of a hissing cat.”

[I decided that this is a pretty good place to stop. For the most part the rest of what goes on in the daily life arc probably stayed the same or didn’t change much for me to want to highlight it. Mostly manga-centric but I may have took some inspiration from the anime in some areas.]

Fashion's Poet of Black : YAMAMOTO
by Suzy Menkes, for the New York Times (2000)
For the first time in recent fashion memory, black — essential, existential black — is no longer the ultimate symbol of cool. Black has dominated designer dressing, just as it has clad the entire fashion profession, since the wave of Japanese style swept over fashion in the early 1980s.
But now color has burst into the autumn clothes. Bright hues and subtle patterns are challenging dark and monochrome — and nowhere more so than from the designers for whom black was once the only fashion creed.
Yohji Yamamoto has built a career on proving that black — aggressive, rebellious, somber, romantic or seductive — is beautiful. He, more than most designers, is the poet of black, the director of fashion's film noir. In fact, a celluloid version of his favorite men in black was shown Saturday at the Venice film festival, where Yamamoto designed the costumes (not to mention the loud jewelry) for "Brother," a new movie by Takeshi Kitano about the yakuza, Japanese gangsters.
What is the lure of black that Yamamoto has been addicted to it since he first graduated from fashion college in Tokyo in 1969?
"Why black?" says Yamamoto, sitting in his Paris studio, black beard and black hair above a dense black honeycomb sweater, mat-black pants and black sneakers flashed with scarlet.
"Black is modest and arrogant at the same time," he says. "Black is lazy and easy — but mysterious. It means that many things go together, yet it takes different aspects in many fabrics. You need black to have a silhouette. Black can swallow light, or make things look sharp. But above all black says this: 'I don't bother you — don't bother me!"'
All this is said with a merry smile that belies Yamamoto's reputation as a designer of clothes for earnest intellectuals. Recent collections have shown rather a whimsical sense of humor: the Inuit-inspired autumn line with its russet paisleys and furry hoods, and the 1998 "wedding" show, in which a bridal "striptease" took models from inflated Victorian crinolines to slim-line dresses and pants.
For men, the art-director image of black suit with truncated proportions, shown on brawny-to-scrawny guys, has also been replaced by a more macho, even rock-star look. (As recreation, Yamamoto plays guitar or harmonica with a group called Suicide City.)
Yamamoto cut his fashion teeth in his widowed mother's dressmaking business, but rebelled at the clients' arriving with magazine styles to copy.
"At the very beginning, I just wanted women in men's style," he says. "Typically Japanese women were wearing imported and very feminine things and I didn't like it. I jumped on the idea of designing coats for women. It meant something for me — the idea of a coat guarding a home, hiding the woman's body. Maybe I liked imagining what is inside."
When an avant-garde buyer gave Yamamoto his first corner in a store, he was faced with what he calls elliptically "very strong competition" and "the start of my Olympic games." He was referring to the designs of Rei Kawakubo, his long-term partner and fashion picador under her label Comme des Garcons. Together — yet with entirely separate aesthetics — they created dark shrouds, asymmetrically cut in fluid, indeterminate shapes, and sheltering sweaters that clothed the acolytes of the all-black cult.
Of course, Japanese designers did not introduce black to 20th-century fashion, as witness the Parisian elegance of Coco Chanel's little black dress or Yves Saint Laurent's tuxedo, and rebellious style from Beatniks through Marlon Brando. But there was an abstraction, a modernism and a lack of visual definition in the work of fashion's avant garde that seemed to be layered in meaning, in the spirit of Mark Rothko's "dark" paintings.
Yamamoto, born in 1943, describes a "lost" postwar generation, educated to look to America or Europe and ignore Japanese tradition. So when his experiments in pushing the boundaries of shape and proportion were hailed as "Japanese" style, he was baffled.
Yamamoto sees his original look emerging from punk. His first collection was presented in Tokyo in 1977 and in Paris in 1981 when the "Japanese" (including Issey Miyake and Kenzo Takada, who were five years his senior) seemed diametrically opposed to everything that French fashion stood for: its well-defined cut and silhouette, its familiar fabrics, its conception of female allure and coquetry. Even 15 years later, when Carolyn Bessette Kennedy favored Yamamoto's designs in the mid-1990s, her choice of flat-plane, dark clothes to frame her good looks still seemed revolutionary.
The French electronic musician Jean-Michel Jarre once defined Yamamoto's style like this: "His work is totally different from anything else. I like the quasi-religious approach he has to fashion. For me, a woman in Yohji is like a nymphomaniac nun. His clothes are at once sensual and very ritualistic."
That phrases captures the eroticism lurking under the skillful tailoring of a purist exterior. In his genuine affection for women, Yamamoto stands apart in a fashion world where male designers tend either to idolize or to dislike the female sex. He admits that "my life is thinking about women."
"First my mother — last my daughter," he says. "And in between are all the secret ones."
Mother, daughter and son (who has brought him a granddaughter) all work in the business: His mother is the revered directrice; his daughter was launched in March, after three years as pattern cutter, as designer of the ready-to-wear line called Y's bis Limi. The proud father claims, "She'll be strong — she'll be bigger than me."
Yamamoto's career reached its zenith with the 1998 "wedding" collection. It confirmed the new, romantic path he had taken as he shifted register from masculine to feminine. The catalyst was his study of haute couture. He pored over the neo-Edwardian gowns of the American designer Charles James at the Brooklyn Museum of Art in the summer of 1999, when he was in New York to pick up an American Fashion Award. In the jigsaw of pattern pieces he uncovered "another designer's process."
The museum has now asked him to curate a fashion exhibition from its archives. It will open in autumn 2001 and thus commemorate the anniversary of 20 years showing in Paris, although Yamamoto says he is thinking not of his past but of "tomorrow and the day after tomorrow." At 56, he thinks vaguely of retiring and of fulfilling his ambition to write. He worries that others might think, "Yohji, you have sung your song already."
A recent Yamamoto signature has been the swoop of a back, from the geisha-esque curve of the nape through the base of the spine to the neo-Victorian bustle.
"This is my fetish idea for a woman's body," he says. "I like the back curve line of women. I am always watching the silhouette in the streets. The rib cage and the hip is very important for me. The image represents the back of a woman. I'm always following her. Don't go! Don't leave me!"
Don't count on Yamamoto, or his women, turning their backs on black.

I just had a thought! Do you know Katekyo Hitman Reborn? Hibari Kyouya, rule enforcer, word minimalist, like a Lan. My first thought was LWJ as Hibari, deciding to let loose after his last life, but still clinging to his roots, with his DC as his sect and his enforcement of rules. Then as a counterpart WWX as Yamamoto Takeshi, maybe? Didn't really think beyond that.
In contrast, the idea of Hibari becoming a Lan is hilarious. He'd probably enjoy it a lot, actually. Isolated, night hunts, rules strictly enforced, quiet. If we put him in as one of the main family, maybe the 3rd son? He could run the Sect instead of his brothers. He has the ambition, if only to be sure that no one can give him orders. This way, LXC can do what he wants and won't be too cautious at key moments and LWJ can just be with WWX and A-Yuan.
Hibari and JC can be feral fight friends and help JC not be uncertain as a young Sect Leader. The Nie clan probably get along great with him. (Maybe some thoughts on how Lanbari and NHS should be swapped gets passes around before they get smacked) Probably approves of WWX since he's a strong fighter with the power and stamina to back it up. Maybe he can terrorize MY into staying loyal to LXC and get them and NMJ all together and avoid bunch of problems at once. Then since his brothers are occupied by their love lives, he gets the Sect and eventually rises to Chief Cultivator.
I LOVE THIS PROMPT SO MUCH.
Hibari is in heaven among the Gusu Lan who won't crowd, aren't noisy, and follow the rules. It's everyone else that's the problem...
-o-o-o-
Imagine hibari as lan xichen's twin brother though
random person: oh? are those the twin jade? points at lan xichen and lan wangji who are flawless, kind, and walking in peace cultivator: no, it's that person. cultivator points at hibari who's beating three female cultivators who were not only crowding but also harassing a shopkeeper, demanding that they get the some items for free because they were cultivators. But uh, from the outside, it doesn't look so hot. random person: oh... o.o
-o-o-o-
Hibari was technically the younger twin, but seeing how much more... confident, assertive, aggressive, and talented (although that last one is really unfair since 1. it's Hibari and 2. Hibari is an adult in a child's body), the Lan elders decided to make Hibari as the heir instead.
They might be regretting their decision now.
-o-o-o-
Hibari and Nie Mingjue are the bffs in this AU, not Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue.
Meng Yao turns into Hibari's xianxia equivalent of Kusakabe. Hibari applauds Meng Yao's efforts to "discipline" people, but thinks Meng Yao needs more training so that he doesn't mess up and kill people instead.
Wei Wuxian's troublemaking skills vs. Hibari's tonfas.
Hibari enjoys the sparring but he still wins and thoroughly disciplines Wei Wuxian. Then he starts attacking Wei Wuxian, not for troublemaking, but because he wants a spar.
-o-o-o-
So the Gusu Lan practice musical cultivation.
Hibari can whistle? He can... also beat people up in a musical manner like beating drums if human bodies were drums.
He trains little songbirds to sings the namimori middle school anthem as he beats up people. They are no Hibird, but it's as close as he's going to get.
Meanwhile the Lan elders think he's an absolute genius. At age 4, Hibari "invented" his first piece of music and turned it into a powerful piece of musical cultivation by sheer force of will. Now he can train birds in musical cultivation too.
#hibari reincarnates as Lang Xichen's twin au

Sorry to come in here but since I love dub directions, as a hypothetical question, who was your dream cast for each? I just love thinking of all the possibilities and scenarios of HOPEFULLY which company can sponsor in the future the whole 200
omg hi anon! i'm going to mostly skip the characters that i liked the official dub voices of if that's alright, and list out the ones i haven't heard in the previews yet or don't remember ^^ also sorry if the explanations are lackluster, i've been looking up so many videos to see ranges of va's i'm writing down and spent hours trying to decide! let me know if you want more characters, and which ones in particular if you do
reborn: i actually don't mind veronica taylor's take on him too much, but something about it just sounds off to me idk, but i can't think of another va except for christina vee to pull off reborn
tsuna: erica mendez's nagisa shingestu from udg would be a great voice for tsuna
yamamoto: johnny yong bosch, i've seen people put him as mukuro which honestly i think would be great too, but takeshi's vibe fits more in my mind
gokudera: eric vale with his voice for sanji one piece, he sounds enough like a nerd and still be angry
ryohei: kaiji tang, there's not a specific voice to pinpoint but i believe he could do a very energetic but still slightly older sounding big brother
hibari: might be a strange pick but cody christian's cloud strife, kyoya has a very smooth voice and i can definitely imagine hearing an "i'll bite you to death"
mukuro: robbie daymond, his range with goro akechi alone (though that vocal performance is extremely impressive) is so fitting for mukuro
chrome: valeria rodriguez using her voice of sucrose from genshin OR suzie yeung's fuuka from persona 3 reload
bianchi: allegra clark, specifically her performance as boss from ai the somnium files
haru: monica rial, watch ouran's dub renge is literally her
dino: max mittelman with his voice as atsushi from bsd, with a hint of ryuji from persona 5
byakuran: daman mills' lyney from genshin but more sinister would fit marshmallow man so well
this was really fun to do actually, thank you for the ask!

Xanxus, Squalo & Yamamoto ♡ Relationship + Kink headcanons ✧ REPOST
tumblr ate my post (it probably got flagged but idk how else to cope so I've dug it back out of my google drive to repost it) If you've seen this already, I'm sorry. If you haven't, I'm still sorry.
Tumblr media
♡ Xanxus
Doesn’t let you off the hook just because he’s in a romantic relationship with you; In fact, he has very high standards for who he would deem a worthy partner, to be seen with him, to be his arm candy, to fight alongside him, etc.
You were definitely the one to woo him, mostly with your impressive work as a hitman and the occasional bending over in front of him to pick up the reports you dropped before handing them over to him. He knows that you’re far too careful to accidentally drop them, so he’s only amused by the games you’re playing and enjoying the eyeful. It takes quite a bit of brains and skill to stand out to him.
He keeps it very much on the down-low, he believes in your capability to protect yourself, but it’s only natural to keep your relationship under wraps because that’s vulnerability, babes! He knows you’re too smart to get caught and ransomed.. but there’s still a nonzero chance if there’s a target on your back and that doesn’t sit well with him.
You just happen to be seated next to him at every organized dinner event, adorned in the fattest diamond rings and gold necklaces, with luxury furs and a beautiful smile on your face as you laugh along with his men. Guess it pays well to be "just a Varia officer".
♡ Superbi Squalo
I’m biased as hell but I think he’s a fairly sweet and simple partner. He remembers most anniversaries, is surprisingly sentimental, and is overworked but tries to make time for you. Unfortunately, it means that he’s unlikely to be with someone high maintenance, he just has too much on his plate already, and his partner should be a solace for him, someone that both appreciates him for all that he does and doesn't add more expectations for him to meet.
Oh to get fresh sashimi omakase dinners for your anniversaries with the best sushi chefs (Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, ofc), you tease him and try to get him to play little drinking games with you and y’all reminisce your best and worst times that you’ve experienced together. The more liquor you get into this man, the softer he gets, and he will absolutely ramble on and on about you.
Squalo didn’t really know how to take people on dates for the longest time, because he committed himself to the art of the blade, or whatever... so his best shot at taking you out initially was just a fancy candle lit dinner and dessert. He didn’t know what to talk about, and his hair almost caught on fire with the open flames, but you laughed it off and found him super charming regardless, because you knew him outside of the whole dating scene as one of the most handsome, dedicated, and impressive men you’ve ever met. He didn’t have to do a lot of work to sweep you off your feet, even though he did try.
♡ Yamamoto Takeshi
He’s such college sweetheart material, have fun attending all of his games! You either get to tag along for away games (good luck keeping up with your coursework) or he calls you every night that he’s out of town to update you on how he’s doing.
You’re one of his biggest supporters, and he relies on you more than he wishes he did. I see Takeshi as a fairly monogamous man, and being raised in a traditional household, he withholds a lot of his emotional vulnerability, and alas, it’s kind of dumped on a significant other. On the bright side, you make him happier just by existing and being in his life. He feels so lucky to have you, and thanks his ancestors for blessing him with your presence every day.
He seems like a childhood-friends-to-lovers type of guy, which is super funny to me because he also seems like a notorious friendzoner! Yes, Takeshi, they definitely invited you over to hang out alone, as friends, in their room, with the lights dimmed, as friends, with a bottle of wine, looking at you like they want to kiss you breathless, as friends. (He knows, he's just avoided addressing it with everyone that he didn't reciprocate feelings for.)
You had to sit him down and tell him that you wanted him in more than just a platonic way, and you watched as he turned beet red, clumsily asked a few clarifying questions, and had to excuse himself for a moment to process the information.
He shares some of the most ridiculous bits of gossip with you! He’s a social butterfly that seems to be in every circle and people share everything with him since he’s such a good listener and tactful enough to not blab.. except for to his partner! You get annoyed with him for not asking the important questions to dig up more tea, to which he just giggles and shrugs like “I’m sorry, they just told me all of that unprompted! Do you want me to ask next time..?” (to which you’d scream “NO THAT’D BE TOO SUS”)
Voted number one most likely to hit a home run and sprint over to the stands to steal a kiss from you before running the bases. He almost got penalized for it, but they let it slide because everyone thought it was really cute teehee
Ngl idk what to write for kink HCs anymore I’ve written about their kinks enough
Tumblr media
✧ Xanxus
I think.. Xanxus is a bastard, and when you sit him down in thebedroom to talk about kinks for the first time, he has the most blankly confused expression on his face because “what the fuck are those?” (HE’S ACTUALLY SO STUPID LORD HELP US)
You furrow your brows and rephrase the question; “so… what are you.. into? sexually,”
You do not get a good answer out of this man because he’s so repressed dear lord.. He grumbles about just being like.. into fucking, or whatever.. and you decide to just lay out what you like first, and let him respond with whether he agrees or disagrees. The discussion goes much smoother that way. He was much too invested in the whole ‘being the 10th generation boss of the Vongola’ thing to think too hard about his sexuality during his developing years.
He likes to get kinky with his partner because he likes his partner. He doesn’t particularly consider himself a kinky person, he’s just full of sexual energy and open to finding new outlets for it, especially anything that’s particularly intense. He does not like to be a gentle dom, and he gets impatient easily, so don’t count on him to play along with anything for too long before he just jumps your bones.
Generally speaking, he tends to be quite rough, or at least intense; he tends to like.. cum (yours and his).. dirty talk, and marking (giving/receiving), and y’all have recently come to terms with the shared affinity for predator/prey play in the bedroom.
He tends to agree with what kinds of kinky activity to engage in with his partners as his partner proposes them. Bring in some dark chocolate syrup next time and he would probably eat it all up ;)
Completely unarmed (though he could never truly be unarmed), he steps out of the shower to find you waiting for him, scantily clad and leaning against the wall, batting your eyelashes. It’s going to be that kind of night, huh... He snorts quietly under his breath, and a small smirk dances across his features.
With a few taps of your fingers, you turn and run, hiding in a corner until you hear him approaching. You dodge him and slip from his grasp a few times before he finally knocks you over and pins you to the ground, roughing shoving a knee between your legs and holding your wrists above your head.
You giggle, kicking up at his hardened muscles and squirming. He buries his nose in your neck and inhales your scent before biting down roughly on your shoulder. “Quiet, bunny.” He grumbles, and you whine in what could easily be satisfaction. You were in for a long play session.
✧ Superbi Squalo
He’s considered his kinkiness before. He doesn’t really know how to list them straightforwardly, because he also thinks of it as ‘I just like what I like’, similarly to Xanxus.
I’m not sure what this is called, but I think he’s definitely christened every shared space with you. The kitchen island is not safe from your lovemaking, the shower is not safe, the bathroom counter is not safe.. the couch, however, is. He thinks you look beautiful when you’re completely drenched, and nothing makes his day more than receiving a tasteful and slightly fogged up picture of you getting nice and clean in the bath. He often enjoys joining you in the shower to hoist you up against the wall just to kiss and caress down your entire body. It’s times like this where you tend to be less careful with digging your nails into his back, as you hold on for dear life in the slippery space. He wears the marks with pride.
He does get off on semi-public risky business on occasion, but it’s specifically when he has close to zero chance of getting caught. He doesn’t admit it, but he does enjoy you teasing him through his pants under the safety of the tablecloth at dinner, with onlookers believing that you’ve just got a hand innocently placed on his thigh. He side-eyes you with a raised eyebrow, as if to tell you to knock it off, but it does nothing but spur you on until he whispers for you to meet him on the balcony.
And that you do; you excuse yourself to “use the bathroom”, and he later follows with a mumble of “let me make sure they’re okay..”
That’s how you find yourself hidden out of plain sight behind a sharp corner, pinned up against a wall, in a spot where you’re unlikely to be spotted. The cool night air makes you shiver as it hits the wetness between your thighs as he roughly tugs your underwear aside, grumbling under his breath about how “damn impatient” you were, and how you’re “such a fucking brat”, but you know that he loves that you’re his fucking brat.
There’s something so raw and hot about you biting down on his gloved hand as he fucks you from behind, muffling his own sounds by kissing your shoulder while his other hand wraps around you to work you to your climax. He’s not often a fan of quickies, but there’s something so special about it being a quickie in this specific context.
✧ Yamamoto Takeshi
I actually deny what I said 3 years ago about him being only a dom, he’s a soft dom and a very good little subby puppy
He’s fairly vanilla, especially compared to what usually comes to mind with the rest of the KHR cast, but he enjoys anal play for both himself and his partner, and is sooo down to be pegged please bend him over nicely and sweetly
He doesn’t really enjoy sensory or impact play, because he’s not a fan of pain for either parties, but he has a lot of fun with dirty talk, role-playing, and anything more.. mental? The physical acts of intimacy are already so much for him, and you’ll still be in for a ride because he’s got stamina. He can just go and go and go and go..
He has never said this outright to you, but he kind of enjoys being edged, and the few times you did it accidentally, he came so hard that he saw stars. He proceeded to breathlessly ask if you could do that again, and when you asked, “what do you mean? Do what again?” he found himself stuttering in front of you like it was the day he first asked you out.
He can be a bit of size queen, and he loves watching his partner try to take his whole cock in their mouth, and the mean side of him doesn’t want to let up even when they gag or tear up; he thinks it’s so sexy, and one day he finally gets brave enough to let some praise slip when they gag, spurring them to take him even deeper.
If his partner is okay with it, there’s something so hot to him about cumming on them; be it their face, their chest, their stomach, ass, or back.. He cums quite a bit and it goes pretty far. He definitely failed to warn them beforehand (not on purpose) and felt so terrible when it got everywhere, but he also... instantly got hard again.
He has a habit of holding your hand in some way in most positions, but if you ask him nicely, he’ll release them to let you run your hands down his body :’) if you’re face-to-face with him, he likes intertwining your fingers, and if you’re facing away from him, he might… hold you by your wrists or lay his hands over yours. The constant contact is a regular thing with him.

Today's translation #312
Go Yuri go!!! official fanbook, Shimizu Youji interview
Part 7.
--- Any memorable conversation with the Director?
S: When I was wondering how much the mental condition of the skater is reflected in what they say and do, the Director told me about something that actually happened involving a certain skater. "I actually saw that during the competition, how extremely excited that skater was" - she told me at that time, but the story is so shocking that I'm not sure I want to tell it here. But hearing that I was very surprised: "So real figure skaters go that far…". I've been watching figure skating since forever and I did want to express [in the show] what kind of people figure skaters are, including what's going on in their heads, as best I could, but that story just exceeded my expectations by far. On the other hand, events that contrasted that happened, too. In episode 1., an ex-figure skater, Honda Takeshi-san makes an appearance as a commentator, right? Even actors, who have a lot of experience, because they often appear in movies or TV dramas, when they first enter a recording studio, normally get nervous. But Honda-san looked as if he wasn't stressed at all. The basic method [in voice acting] is to say your lines like you would normally say them, but it's the most difficult one. But Honda-san was really natural. The story of that certain skater that I've heard from Yamamoto-san, and Honda-san I could observe with my own eyes - those two were both opposite extremes [I guess he means the level of emotions, control of emotions]. When I thought about it, how wide the scale is between two extremes in case of figure skaters, I realized how poor my imagination was and I deeply regretted it. That also have played a part in that, when the Grand Prix series started, one after another a lot of unbelievable skaters appear in the story. However, by now I started to think that: "It's possible that there are real skaters, who are this (laugh)".

Hi! Can I ask for P or U (whichever you want more) for TYL!Takeshi?
Thanks a lot!
Of course you can, anon dear! Thank you for the request and I hope you'll enjoy the headcanons! As always, smut under the cut!
P(ace): are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.
Both. Definitely both, as are most things sexually with Yamamoto. His wants and leanings sexually do tend to change, evolve, or shift depending on his mood, how long it's been since he's had sex, what his stress levels are like, what kind of porn he's been watching lately, whether his partner has brought any kinks or desires to his attention, etc.
I will say that quickies are definitely always going to be a Yamamoto thing. Not an every day or even every month thing but they will be very much a recurring thing in a sex life with him. Not only does he has a very busy schedule and limited opportunities to have sex with his partner but sometimes, if he's been really horny or stressed, he really does just want the primal sexual experience of a rough, quick, can't keep our hands off each other, have to have each other right that very moment fuck.
However, there are also going to be plenty of times and moments, when Yamamoto is more relaxed or him and his partner have had a lot of spare time together, when he's going to really want to slow down and not rush sex. These will be the times he really lingers on foreplay, when he suggests exploring new kinks, toys, positions, etc. They're also the times when he really will slow down sex, really take the time to enjoy it and prolong it.
I could also see, at his happiest and most relaxed of moments, for Yamamoto to really extend things through suggesting that he and his partner try out tantric sex, take things slow and simply enjoy the moments instead of making orgasm the whole point of sex.
U(nfair): how much they like to tease?
Okay, so we're going to return to the first of the above points for the other letter because, again, this is a yes and no. Yamamoto will have times where he's going to be teasing with his partner, especially if he knows it hits kinks or desires and fantasies his partner has. And then there will be times where the last thing in his head will be to tease his partner sexually, where he just could not imagine doing so. Like almost everything sexually, Yamamoto is open to it but it will really depend on his mood and desires and other various things at the time.
However, when he does tease, it's very light teasing. He really does like to tease his partner the most when they're doing the long-distance thing, because he's out of the country or they are, or it's simply impossible for them to see each other for a bit because of some reason. He'll send them a lot of just out of the shower pics, always with a towel wrapped low around his hips because, even if he's sexual as a person, Yamamoto is still respectful and doesn't send nudes. He'll flirt more, he'll call and whisper the filthiest of things to them at the most surprising moments.
In the bedroom, I see more forced orgasms being a thing rather than edging, unless his partner asked specifically for that, and I could see cute teasing, like how red his partner was getting, how cute they sounded moaning like that, things along those lines.

Chapter 5: Summer School
You heaved the 751st sigh of the day, blinked, and hoped that the ceiling you’d been staring at would somehow transform into something more interesting when you opened your eyes. No such luck. It was just as off-white and textured as it had been all morning and the better part of the afternoon. Better try again, then:
“Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.”
Your companion tore the paper in his hands once more.
“Don’t you dare start that again!” Hayato snapped.
You rolled onto your side to peer over the edge of your mattress. There Hayato sat on the floor, his back against your bed and a crumpled magazine between his fists. He glared at you, but you hardly noticed as you went back to staring at the ceiling.
“I’m bored,” you said.
“So suck it up. You don’t need to annoy me with your constant whining.”
“I’m sorry, Hayato, but whose house are you at today?” Your question was met with silence. “That’s right. Mine. So if anyone should be sucking it up, it’s you.”
“Shut up! I wouldn’t be here if–”
“If Tsuna and Takeshi weren’t at school, and if Tsuna hadn’t asked you to keep me company. I know. You’ve told me a thousand times.”
“And you’ve groaned a thousand times!”
You sighed again, and heard the paper tear even further.
“Are you two still up here sitting?” asked a new voice from the doorway.
“No, Grandma,” you answered in a monotone. “We’re having a rave. Can’t you see all the flashing colors and our glow sticks? Wee.”
“Did I ask for an order of sass, young lady?” Your grandma sauntered into the room, raising her eyebrows in what she clearly thought was a stern manner.
“Not sass. We’re using our–” You stuck your arms out in front of you and made a rainbow with your hands “–imagination.”
She smirked at Hayato. “Really? Your friend doesn’t look like he’d be endowed with anything that great.”
“What the hell?!” said Hayato. “I’ll have you know–”
“Summer school will be out soon. Why don’t you go meet your friends?” your grandma said, smoothly cutting Hayato off before he could really begin his tirade. “And tomorrow perhaps look into something a little more exciting than imaginary sass raves, hm? You don’t want to be rude to your guest, [Name].”
You sneaked a glance in Hayato’s direction and found him grinding his teeth together. Never a good sign. Before he could threaten to blow up your grandmother, you sat up and slid off the bed.
“Good idea. Thanks, Grandma,” you said as you tugged on Hayato’s arm.
He shot you a disgusted look, but got to his feet.
Your grandmother grinned at him again as she left the room. “No problem, dear. Have fun with your friends.”
“Will do,” you called after her. “Bye!”
******
Walking to Namimori Middle School did not turn out to be much more enjoyable than sitting in your room. No sooner had you exited your grandmother’s home than did you and Hayato start bickering again.
“She’s right that you shouldn’t be rude, but she shouldn’t either!” he shouted before you’d even left the block.
“It’s her house!” you replied.
“Well, I didn’t want to go over to her house!”
“We didn’t invite you anyway! Tomorrow you can just hang around in Tsuna’s attic all day like you usually do!”
“Fine! That’s what I wanted to do today!”
“Great! Can we just go pick up the guys now?”
“I could pick up the Tenth without your help! I was going to anyway!”
“Too bad. I’m coming along.”
You folded your arms across your chest, looking at Hayato through narrowed eyes. He took a deep breath as if to continue berating you, but finally spun around and marched off toward the middle school.
“Tch. Do whatever you want, woman,” he said as he lit up another cigarette. “At least you can get that Baseball Idiot off of my hands.”
The pair of you walked the rest of the way in stony silence. When you arrived, Hayato found a wall to lean against a wall while he smoked. This bored you rapidly enough that you soon wandered in through the gates in search of friendlier faces.
You’d never seen Namimori before. It seemed nice. Not too different from the school you attended back home, actually. Checking your watch, you saw that you still had twenty minutes to burn before Tsuna and Takeshi got out of class...assuming Hayato hadn’t lied to you, of course, and that wasn’t assumption you were willing to make. Either way, you didn’t feel like spending that time with him when the heat had him so grouchy. The campus looked otherwise empty. Why not take the opportunity to explore a Japanese middle school?
Doing your best to ignore the oppressive heat, you set out across the grounds. You really were just wandering, peeking around corners, craning your head to look towards the roof. Every so often, you thought you saw a bulky boy in a dark jacket standing alongside the pavement or near the gate or on top of the building, but whoever he was (or they were), the figure melted away before you could get close enough to speak to them.
At last, it grew too hot for you to continue looking around. The moment you spotted a door to inside, you pulled it open and quietly slipped into the beyond. You felt much, much cooler, but the silence disquieted you. Although the overhead lights were on, the first floor was empty. No matter how far you cocked your head to one side, no matter how hard you listened intently for the noises of a nearby class, you heard absolutely nothing to indicate anyone at Namimori was alive.
“Okay. That’s not at all creepy,” you muttered.
When no one, not even a mysterious strange boy with a pompadour, answer you, you set off down the hall. Goosebumps slowly crawled up your spine and across your arms. Every few steps, you would whip your head in one direction in attempt to catch Reborn spying on you, but you saw no sign of him at all. All you saw were rows and rows and rows of lockers nearly identical to the ones at your own school, and the occasional sign written in hiragana.
You came to an abrupt stop after a few minutes of this. “You know what? I think I will go back and wait with Hayato. Maybe he’s lonely,” you announced to the empty hallway.
Then you broke into a sprint across the rest of the hallway and burst out of the doors in the back of school.
“Oh, sh–”
“Going somewhere, herbivore?”
You froze as a familiar voice came from behind you. Now that you knew enough about Kyoya to be scared, you certainly were, but you also knew enough not to let him know just how terrifying he was.
“I already told you, I don’t just eat plants,” you sighed, attempting to sound put off rather than terrified. “I’m not a chipmunk, you know, or a rabbit. Eep!” you squealed as two rounded points of metal pressed into your back. Perhaps putting up a façade of being annoyed had been the wrong choice. If you’d acted like a coward, maybe he would have lost interest.
“You ran away last time, herbivore, and I’m interested in seeing what exactly you can do,” Kyoya said. “If that baby is interested in you, it’s fit for me to be interested, too.”
“Reborn is interested in Tsuna. He’s no good at fighting.”
“No.” You could almost hear the smirk in Kyoya’s voice. “But he and his friends are good for biting to death.”
“H-Hey now. Let’s be reasonable. I didn’t do anything wrong last or this time. I gave you the money I owed you, and it’s not like I have the rest on me. Now I’m just waiting for my friends to get out of–”
“You are not a student at this school, and yet you were wandering the halls. Do you have an escort? No? Trespassing will get you bitten to death.”
You gulped as he prodded you again with his tonfa. If you screamed, would Hayato come running? You didn’t trust him enough to try. Tsuna and Takeshi were probably out of class by now, and he would be too busy fussing over his precious Tenth to bother.
“Do you have anything to say for yourself, herbivore?” Kyoya asked.
“I do,” came a voice you had not expected to hear. “She’s with me.”
Kyoya spun around to look at the person that had come to your rescue. You turned quickly as well, rubbing the sore spots on your back. Takeshi stood there, smiling just as cheerfully as ever in the face of Kyoya’s cold, blank stare.
“Hn. See to it that she doesn’t break any more school rules, or I’ll bite her to death, and you with her,” he said.
“Yes, sir,” Takeshi said, still smiling.
And then Kyoya was gone. You exhaled gustily as you wiped the sweat from your brow and tripped toward Takeshi.
“He’s gone. Thank goodness.” You peered in through the windows to make doubly sure that Kyoya  was not lurking inside, ready to pounce the minute you were left alone again. Then you looked up at Takeshi and grinned. “Thanks for rescuing me again. I owe you another one.”
“Ahahaha. That’s okay,” Takeshi said. The two of you headed toward the gates--the correct direction this time. “I’m just glad I could get to you in time. You shouldn’t be wandering around alone with Hibari on the prowl, but I guess Gokudera forgot to tell you that.”
“Yeah, sure. He forgot.” You made  mental note to shove Hayato’s cigarette up his nose the next chance you got. “But how did you get there so fast?” “I saw you out the window, and I saw Hibari coming to harass you. The minute the teacher released us, I made sure to come get you.”
“Oh. Well, thanks again.”
You almost asked him why he’d gone to the trouble. Almost. But doing so ran the risk of tackling a subject you weren’t ready to yet, especially knowing that the simplest answer was that Takeshi didn’t want Kyoya to beat you to a bloody pulp. He probably had a good idea you weren’t carrying around those freaky explosive darts Reborn kept forcing on you.
“No problem!”
Then he stopped walking. He looked suddenly abashed. Your heart hammered in your chest.
“I guess I just didn’t want him to hurt you,” he admitted.
Oh, was that all? You really didn’t need to tackle that subject now. You laughed, a quiet, embarrassed chuckle. “You three really are strange about protecting your friends. This mafia roleplay stuff is crazy.”
“No, I mean--well, yeah, but--” Takeshi laughed nervously himself, rubbing the back of his head and closing one eye in a sort of prolonged wink. “I didn’t want him to hurt you because you’re my friend, but I also kind of like you like you.”
“Oh!” was all you said as you felt heat blooming in your cheeks. You looked at the ground and scuffed a patch of dirt with your shoe. Trust Takeshi of all people to get into what you’d been so afraid to begin with. None of this felt quite real. Perhaps you were suffering heat stroke? But you took the plunge and said,  "I kind of like you like you, too.”
“Really?” You looked up at the change in his voice. No longer anxious, he had gone right back to grinning in his usual manic way. “That’s great!” He took a few steps away and then smiled back at you. “Come on! Let’s go get Tsuna and Gokudera.”
And just like that, the confession was over. You felt a little relieved on two counts: One, your crush wasn’t in vain. Two, nothing was about to change between you and your group of summer friends. The only thing you had to worry about was the inevitable end of that summer. But for the time being, you could push that aside. Takeshi’s hand was waiting for you to take before you ran with him to join the rest of your group--and whatever they had in store for you would be sure to chase any fears you had far from your mind, just as he had so easily chased away Kyoya.
