Maximo "Lucky" Jonronero is extremely ADHD coded. in this essay i will
edit: someone asked for the essay, and since im not just about to sleep now, I can be coherent. lets start with the most damning evidence:
1. What he says to Miner during 5-X
Lucky: "I know...it's just... I was never much of anyone as a kid. Bad grades, couldn't ever focus, mom and dad yellin' at me... But on the field, everything was different. Without baseball...I feel like I'll just be that useless kid again."
this is, easily, already a common story among athletes with ADHD! not only that, but if he had no access to the right medication- and since i don't think he knows, he doesn't- it would be extremely hard to do schoolwork, much less homework, paired with all that pressure.
this also means, of course, his mom and dad likely also have undiagnosed ADHD, and possibly are projecting onto him! so yeah parent issues
2. His mannerisms at the start
at first this doesnt seem like that damning of evidence, but as a person with ADHD, his remarks resemble me. a lot.
one effect of having ADHD is this little bitch called emotional dysregulation, in which you can't- not "it's hard to", you can't- control your emotions to a degree, and they tend to get out of hand. from personal experience, it sucks ass, and especially if you dont know what it is, you get mad at your emotions for making you look like a child.
Lucky is mad. a lot. he also seems to bottle up as much as he can, a common pattern with myself. he also seems to understand that his overreactions are stupid, but he really just can't stop himself- if this is a pattern, it partially explains why he had a quicker turnaround than most would think to apologize to Paige. he KNOWS his constant anger is fucking dumb, but he can't stop it. he literally, biologically, has no power to stop it, as a person with adhd off meds.
3. The way he acts, in general
he gets distracted halfway through conversations. this also parallels with just how fast he was able to zone out in 5-3. this isn't very hard evidence, but it further perpetuates the "lack of focus" bit, which is also something he hates about himself! without knowing he has ADHD, that's not an uncommon jump of emotions
he doesn't seem to have any other interest than playing baseball at the moment (though it doesnt seem like that was always the case), but even then it seems to be dwindling out despite his best attempts (a common pattern with hyperfixations). he also seems to immediately latch onto coaching!
he moves around, a lot. we don't see him happy stim, but that jumping animation is likely an angry stim, which yes, also happens. he seems to hate staying still, which is emphasized by the fact that he needs to. for long periods of time. hence him sneaking out to the gym as much as he can. AND A GOOD ADD-ON BY @kittyfirest0rm - THE GUM. THE FUCKING GUM. HE CHEWS GUM WHILE PLAYING BASEBALL!!
he's quick to emphasize, when he's not angry. he's not very keen on some social cues, but he definitely seems to get emotions. in 5-3 he's probably surprised at Miner's easy admitting that he was injured and would stay willingly, but he also seems to get it when Miner talks about overworking himself and his emotions. (he zones out though during the explanations. classic.)
there's more i could add, but the post is getting long, so here come get your juice lol

Hey sexy witch!
So I just had my first real sexual experience... And it didn't go exactly how I would've liked. So I'm a cis man who's 23 and never really kissed anyone, and was with someone I did really like and nothing really happened below stairs for me. I am on antiDs and appreciate the stress off expectations may have damaged performance (as may alcohol have as well), and I also know that penetrative sex isn't the be all and end all of relationships - but basically I was wondering if you had any resources or advice to help relax / assist in turgidity in this situation?
Apologies if this isn't the best worded but well I'm not in the most coherent state of mind right now. Yo know how it is.
Yours truly...
A lad in need of advice.
hi lad,
I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way that things rarely go perfectly when it comes to sex. I hope you still had fun!
it sounds like you really encountered a perfect storm of things than can cause erectile dysfunction: antidepressants, alcohol, and stress? in this economy?
the first thing to do is a little scientific research. do you have any difficulty getting and staying hard when it's just you? if everything goes smoothly when you masturbate, we probably don't need to worry too much about addressing the role antidepressants may have played here. if you have noticed any changes in your erections since going on antidepressants, it's worth bringing that up with your doctor and talking about potentially switching prescriptions to something that may come without the unwanted side effect. probably not the most fun conversation you'll ever have, but important! and trust me, any doctor writing prescriptions for antidepressants has had the erectile dysfunction conversation before.
the alcohol thing is easy: let's just try to avoid drinking in future situations where it looks like intimacy might be an option, yeah? or at least partake in moderation.
now, as for that pressure to perform: listen to me. listen. sex can be literally anything. tons of people have great sex without using a penis every day, for all kinds of reasons (no penis, don't like their penis, penis isn't cooperating, just not that into penetration, etc). and YOU can be one of them! I believe in you.
I know for cis men more than anyone the narrative around sex is that the penis is a 100% vital component 100% of the time, but you know better than that. you follow my blog, probably, which means that you know human bodies are a big sweaty mess of holes and erogenous zones and things that are good for touching other things, and all of that can be done in literally any combination you want as long as it feels good. your hands and your mouth are as important as your dick, and that's just the beginning. there are definitely people out there who will be equally of not more excited by other parts of your body.
which isn't to say that you can't or shouldn't use your dick, or that you're wrong for being disappointed about this. it's a bummer when things don't go the way you hoped! but. BUT. you know what takes a LOT of pressure off of Plan A? if you have a perfectly good Plan B lined up and ready to go. maybe even a Plan C. lots of people have a hard time showing up exactly the way they want during sex for a lot of reasons, and it can be devastating if you feel like you're blowing your only chance. knowing that you have other plans that will be just as good, just different, can be a huge relief.
you know what else helps? just telling your partner up front that Plan B might be necessary. (don't phrase it like that if you're having sex with someone who could get pregnant, they won't like that.) (Plan B is emergency contraceptive, for anyone confused by that last parenthetical.) I know this probably sounds even more daunting than talking to your doctor about your boners, but just get it out in the open. "hey, just so you know, I've had issues getting it up in the past. it doesn't mean I don't like you or that I don't want to have sex with you, I do! what do you want to do if that's off the table?"
the answer could be "copious amounts of oral" or it could be "let's snuggle and watch a nature documentaries." they could also be a dick about it, and if someone is a dick about your dick, it's time to leave. either way, you've leaned something useful about this person and can act on that information accordingly!
listen: the odds that this will happen every time you want to be having an erection are very slim, but (cruelly, ironically, etc) if you get too in your head about this and let it trip you up the next time you're in a sexy little situation, it's much more likely that you'll psyche yourself out too much to get hard. the best way to get less stressed about an erection really may be to just not care if you have one. let the unshakeable sexual confidence of someone with a foolproof backup plan fill you.

same anon coming back to the degendering conversation.
i see your point about degendering as defensible, and misgendering as openly hateful. but i think the bigot can escalate further, switching back to degendering as part of dehumanization. "it", "that thing", and so on. i did make an oversimplification, but it was because your posts made me understand what the difference in feeling between types of transphobia i have experienced was, and i got very eager to share!
i am genderqueer, androgynous, and visibly varsex. i have gotten deliberately misgendered both as my original legal gender and its opposite. i have also been aggressively degendered. and actually the underlying insults were the opposite than in my example. the misgendering tried to cast me as delusional, and the degendering as an abject other, a monster.
but i do think what you described shows traces of these two angles of attack. "slipping", because they haven't actually unlearned as much as they like to think.
but i think it isn't useful to sort this kind of more 'abstract' or high concept transphobia based on target identities. these are frameworks and weapons picked by the wielders, often without consistent logic, and can be used against anyone. the unique experiences are in my opinion more practical and specific, like in most parts of the world nonbinary people having no right legal gender marker to pick. so that's how exorsexism is a thing and imo your discussion doesn't threaten to invalidate it.
thank you for the good conversation. hopefully i managed to express my thoughts somewhat coherently...
That makes sense! Yeah, I def didn't think about "it/its" degendering in that context, and I feel like that specific way of degendering trans folks has different (but overlapping) sort of intention - I don't get the same kind of dehumanization from "they/them", personally.
That said, I totally agree that the usefulness in differentiating these different types of transphobia is more in why people utilize them than it is the group of people they are attempting to target.
To use one example: I think "transphobia targeting transmasculinity" is probably a more accurate definition of "transandrophobia" than "transphobia targeting transmascs", in a lot of ways, because the people weaponizing transphobia against transmasculinity care less about hurting people who are transmasculine, and more about a fight against the concept of transmasculinity itself. They aren't trying to reveal everyone who is transmasculine in order to oppress them, they are trying to force transmasculine people to repress and hide that part of themselves in order to conform.
And I think that's true for transphobia generally, and queerphobia, and a lot of other forms of oppression. Which is also why bigotry itself tends to be fairly undiscerning; the people calling you a "faggot" on the street aren't going to correct themselves and apologize if you tell them you're straight, actually. They don't care whether you are a faggot, they're punishing the presence of faggotry as a concept.
Anyway, I'm kinda rambling here; I think we're on the same page, too, I'm just enjoying seeing & exploring new ideas and connections!

niigo leak theories
Will this be coherent? probably not. Will I be entirely correct? absolutely not but here goes This is regarding the new leaks for the Nightcord event coming out tomorrow, 7/11 3:00 PM JST, where it's HEAVILY implied Mafuyu will run away, or at most talk to her mom and temporarily flee to one of Niigo's houses, most likely Kanade's?
Overall this event is one of, imo, the biggest and most impactful plot-wise. Things are going to change fast, and with all the throwbacks to past events, this is how I've put things together, while also. taking some takes from Twitter because why not
Prefacing- Mafuyu, though running away, still VERY much cares for her mother. Wondergender on Twitter pointed this out and I also think it's really important to fully understand Mafuyu's situation. She feels indebted to her mother, as well as is still very much understandably attached. This event isn't just Mafuyu standing up for herself, but also letting go, even for just a moment, of that attachment. Recognizing for herself, and accepting, that though her mother may be doing this for her own good, it still hurt her, over and over again. Here is the link to that tweet. Wondergender explains it much better than I do.
-The heart crystals on everyone's trained seem to represent their feelings and wants for Mafuyu. Kanade, to protect. Mizuki, to support, and Ena to reach. Mizuki seems to provide a sort of shoulder to rely on, while Kanade's art implies she'll be taking care of Mafuyu in the immediate aftermath in her untrained.
-Another thing, user aktyexplosion on twt pointed out that a lot of Mafuyu-centered cards have chockers, which many take to be symbolizing how Mafuyu may feel chocked by her mother? yeah, that motif is replaced by a *very* thin line that Mafuyu is about to cut in her trained. I see this as Mafuyu not just cutting free, but maybe even cutting off even for a moment, her mother's influence. That for now, it does more harm than good, and at this rate, it would kill her, or make her immensely worse mentally. Here is the original tweet.
-As for the untrained cards, I think collectively it's how Nightcord reacts to Mafuyu's situation turning up like this. Kanade rushing over to help with the immediate aftermath as I've mentioned before in this post. Ena potentially being on call with Mizuki, as they both get the notification- Yuki has run away. Mafuyu's untrained seems to be her confronting her mother in the moment- the tears, maybe potential apologies? Part of her wanting to go back, to take back all that she's saying, and apologize. But not doing it, because it's an act of self-preservation. Because it's a talk that needs to happen, otherwise things will get bad again for Mafuyu's mental health. Overall I think this event will entirely change the mood of Nightchord's storyline, and potentially change their actions in the future. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and I genuinely hope that Colorpale will handle this well, because if they do it could change how games handle things like this in their own storylines. or i could entirely be overanalyzing things and be entirely wrong, either way I hope yall enjoed this. wall of text?? essay??

Hey! On your poll I was going back and forth between yes and secret third thing BECAUSE I do think Izzy displays homophobia in the show. However, I interpret the incident you referred to as mostly misogyny i.e. that "real men don't show feelings." I think the derogatory words and actions towards Lucius and Stede are way more homophobic, but they're connected for sure.
I think the emphasis on boyfriend is making fun of him for being emotional that a man he loves isn't there and he wanted to remind him that (to Ed's understanding) Stede didn't care enough.
Tldr - izzy is homophobic for reasons outside of this scene, but his gorilla grip on societal standards of men bleed into his view of queer men, especially those who aren't "masc" enough for him
anon my beloved i must apologize in advance bc i had a very weird and emotionally draining day today and i am very tired right now. so i don’t know that this is going to be coherent. but also i like this ask and i want to say words about it before that poll expires tomorrow so i’m just gonna slap some shit together here and hope it makes sense
so first thing’s first, i definitely agree that izzy does homophobia all over the show. the reason i picked out this scene and that line specifically is because imo “pining for his boyfriend” literally sounds like a dumb middle school boy bullying his classmates on the playground. which is to say that it sounds like the most simple-minded homophobic taunt in the world. like i always think abt this scene in the last season of the magnus archives when the main character and his boyfriend roll up to some dumb meathead bully type who goes “who’s this, your boyfriend?” and the whole fandom was like “wow i can’t believe this guy is homophobic.” bc even if the bully is literally correct and the guy is actually his boyfriend, saying “boyfriend” in that tone is saying “boyfriend” like it’s an insult. which, clearly, is homophobic.
so yeah mocking ed for the pining bit is kinda more on the “boys don’t cry” misogyny side of things like you said, but the way izzy tilts his head and draws out the first vowel in “booooyfriend” to me reads like the single most straightforward and undeniable instance of izzy being homophobic in the entire show. bc even if (and this is a big if) izzy doesn’t actually care abt ed having a boyfriend and is just trying to goad ed into being blackbeard again bc izzy needs blackbeard to feel safe, the way izzy is choosing to go about bullying ed into being blackbeard again is through grade school level homophobic taunting.
however you are not wrong that there is also misogyny going on in that scene. and that is because these things are all so deeply intertwined it’s impossible to say where one ends and where the other begins. and this is where i don’t think i’m going to be able to maintain coherency lol but i’m gonna do my best!!!
like the thing with homophobia is that at it’s core, it’s about men not doing gender right. bc gender roles in western society are a fucking shitshow and the expectations for how men and women are supposed to behave extend into every facet of people’s lives. like we all know the basic “boys don’t cry, women are caretakers, men are tough and macho, women are soft, men are hard, etc etc” stuff. but one of the biggest areas where society has strict expectations of how men and women should behave is about sexuality.
men are expected to be attracted to women, obviously. but also men are often expected to be overtly sexual. having a high sex drive is tied to many guys’s concept of their own masculinity and their sense of personal identity. like this should feel like common knowledge right, the idea that some guys build their identity around “getting bitches” or whatever?
(the societal expectations for women and sexuality are a whole other shitshow that people have written entire essays and articles and books on, but im not gonna get into that here bc we’re talking abt ofmd, and this show is focusing on challenging society’s ideas about what it means to be a man)
the other thing with gender roles, and with male gender roles specifically. is that of the two genders that western society has expectations for, manhood is seen as superior. so when a guy is unable to perform masculinity to society’s standards, he is seen as less than a man. and what’s less than a man?
a woman.
men who fail to adhere to a certain expectation of masculinity are insulted by being likened to women. it’s why guys will literally say “don’t be such a girl about it” when another guy gets emotional about something. hell, it happens to stede in the show!! calico jack calls him “the big gal,” the british describe him as “a heavyset woman in a silk dressing gown.” stede is someone whose gender presentation does not match what is expected of him At All, from his clothes to his crying to his picking flowers to just his mannerisms and how he is. and stede has faced constant ridicule because of this.
so like. it all gets real tangled together. and a lot of the time it’s hard to say which is “more” present, homophobia or misogyny. insulting a man by calling him gay, insulting a man by comparing him to a woman, those things go hand in hand. having a gorilla grip worldview on how men “should” behave leads people to policing how men, both cishet and queer, perform gender and experience attraction.
so like, izzy’s general vibe of not caring if ed has gay sex, but absolutely caring if ed bottoms during that sex and caring if ed actually falls in love and cares about a man? that concept of masculinity, which calico jack is also shown to adhere to? homophobic. just like how his treatment of stede and lucius for being “less masculine” is homophobic.

oooh curious about your thoughts on people “targeting syd out of a show about stressed out maladjusted individuals.” like syd is also a stressed out maladjusted individual? or do you see her as a more adjusted stressed out individual 👀
regardless, totally agree about richie needing a good karmic stabbing every now and then <3
forgive me if this isn't the most coherent stream of thoughts, it's 4am and i should be sleeping lmao.
i count syd as a stressed out individual but i don't consider her maladjusted. i think she's one of, or maybe even the most, forthcoming character on the show when it comes to the things she wants and the things she doesn't.
syd's at the restaurant for about a week before the brigade is introduced and once it is introduced she's 'second in command' except carmy's gone, or unavailable, or just not fully present, so she's really acting as the head.
when carmy's catering cicero's party, syd's left in control of the restaurant. when carmy's discussing the new dinner menu he consults syd, and when she throws some ideas out there he doesn't shut them down he says—"yeah, maybe." when the power goes out, carmy leaves for sugar's and sydney's left to just figure it out.
so i get a little peeved when people say things like, "why does carmy have to apologize but syd and marcus don't?"
they're not a majority but when it does happen it's just, like... really? yes. sydney fucked up. at the same time, sydney's been carrying the restaurant on her back over the course of show. she's been included and in charge of pivotal processes relating to how the restaurant is run and she fucked up once. carmy's line in e6 comes to mind, "your resume is excellent and this place is not. everybody said you are incredibly smart, you are incredibly talented. they also said you are incredibly impatient and incredibly green." he proceeds to ask syd to give him a minute in relation to her dish.
but does carmy give syd a minute to adjust to everything he's asking of her?
it doesn't happen often, and it doesn't really happen on tumblr (thank god), but it happens enough that i just get sick of seeing people dismiss syd as an overbearing, controlling character when it'd just be easier for them to say what's really on their mind, that seeing a black woman in command of her station makes them uncomfortable. 🤷

"i still need to write down that idea for the rise turts as mafia princesses..." PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT SOUNDS SO INTERESTING
Adsdffg,, yeah ok I was probably going to forget to do it so thanks
I've just been thinking about how funny it would be if it got out in the hidden city that the teetles were basically Big Mama's stepkids
Big Mama and Splinter get back together officially, so now the turtles and Big Mama are doing the new stepparent/stepkids song and dance. Which actually goes pretty well and after a couple months of heartwarming family bonding activities (turtle style) they're getting along! However, someone not very smart in the hotel staff gossips about it... and it gets out to the hidden city.
One day they go out to Run of the Mill and everyone is being Weird and they have no clue why... until Hueso kindly informs them that the whole hidden city is abuzz with rumors about Big Mama's Long Lost Sons or whatever nonsense it is theyre saying now.
This isn't coherent but my other little bits of ideas:
The turtles, in fancy new outfits that Big Mama got tailored for their shells: Why would they think we're your kids? We're not even the same species!
Big Mama, perfectly aware but finding the whole thing funny: No clue, dearies
There's a secret squad of the hidden city police dedicated to taking down Big Mama that are convinced the turtles are super soldiers she commissioned that went rogue. They're just vague about enough about what they "know" that the turtles are actually concerned they might have some of Draxum's old research... but no, they're just conspiracy theorists that are constantly half-right on accident.
The Mud Dogz hear about the rumors and beg Raph to take them back and apologize for "blowing his cover" in front of his "mom"
Splinter must now teach his sons his most sacred Lou Jitsu special technique: Paparazzi Dodging
To be honest my brain is very air fried right now so if anyone has further ideas I wanna hear em

Everything I needed to know about how awful neurotypical people are to autistic people, I learned from Sandman fan reactions.
This story has actual serial killers, an absolutely unhinged Endless engaged in a millennias-long bullying campaign, and a rapist running around, but your panties are in a twist over a traumatized Endless (yeah, remember that part where he was trapped in a jar for a century?) who isn't sufficiently friendly to your standards? Jesus Christ.
~
Consider the following traits that neurotypical people ascribe as "unlikable" in autistic people: -Blunt -Less, subtler, or different facial expressions, which neurotypicals tend to mistakenly read as "cold" or "emotionless" -Differences in socializing, which might include things like prioritizing interests over socializing
Consider the following traits of Dream of the Endless: -Blunt -Less, subtler, or different facial expressions -Differences in socializing, which might include things like prioritizing what he sees as his duty over social niceties
Am I arguing that Dream is autistic? No. What I am arguing is that most of the arguments people make about Dream being unlikable have nothing to do with him being actually unlikable, and have everything to do with traits that he shares with autistic people. You're just angry that he's not sufficiently friendly and warm to your neurotypical-normative standard.
~
Here's what a possible *coherent* argument for unlikability in Dream looks like: --"Gosh, it sure was cruel to condemn a woman to Hell for 10,000 years, no matter how hurt you might feel." --"Perhaps Dream should put his pride aside and learn to apologize more easily when he's done harm, even if emotions make him uncomfortable."
Meanwhile, here are the *typical* arguments for Dream's unlikability out of the mouths of some Sandman fans:
--"He could have been nicer in how he speaks to Lucienne/Matthew/Johanna." Some people are blunt without meaning to be. Unless you can make a point for actual cruelty, which requires intent, you have no case.
--"He's so cold/emotionless. He didn't even react/barely reacted when Jessamy was killed/he had to uncreate Gregory." He was crying during both. If it wasn't "enough" emotion to suit you, that's on you. So it turns out you're actually the one terrible at reading facial expressions when they don't look the way you think they're supposed to. Then you go about making absurd assumptions about what that person must be feeling or not feeling based on your inability to read them.
--"The characters who accuse him of only caring about his power/job are right." You must have missed the entire bit of character development where it's discussed that caring for the Dreaming is not just his duty, but his function as an entity--largely his identity. This duty is so woven into his being, he's so interested in doing it, that he considers himself inseparable from it. (It's almost like he has a...special interest...in it.) He doesn't care about power; he cares about that duty. You judging his *completely value neutral* priorities is more telling of you than his unlikability. Furthermore, if what you're really angry about is him taking back responsibility from Lucienne now that he's returned, then 1) if it's HOW he did it that annoys you, consider the above point about bluntness and 2) if it's the actual act that bothers you, consider the entire conversation where he explains that he didn't want to burden her with something she shouldn't have to deal with. If you want to turn this into a coherent argument, you'll need to do better; perhaps see the above argument about apologies.
I said it above and I'll say it again: this story has actual serial killers, an absolutely unhinged Endless engaged in a millennias-long bullying campaign, and a rapist running around, but your panties are in a twist over a traumatized Endless who isn't sufficiently friendly to your standards?
Jail for the neurotypicals. Jail for the neurotypicals for 10,000 years.

Caught In A Trap ( 2/10 )
Fandom: Elvis (2022)
Relationship: Elvis/Living Past 42, past Priscilla/Elvis, current Priscilla and Elvis loving each other too much always
Word Count (this chapter): 2360ish
Rating: R, honestly this isn't gonna move below that rating I don't think.
TW: Talk of drug use for pain, pain in general, mention of character death, brief implication of self injury, it's sort of a blink and miss situation, drinking. Honestly it's all in the movie for the most part.
Author's Note: This is probably gonna be 10 parts or lower, I think. I have it plotted out, it's really just how I get to all the parts. Also apologies for the wait, literally have spent like the past week ish sick as a dog between me and my family. As always ask box is open, y'all know the drill.
Elvis is sure Jerry was not prepared to have him leaning on him as much as he is both on the way to the car and inside the car. Truth be told, Elvis himself hadn't really planned to lean as much as he was on the other man but his legs couldn't quite carry him in the way he needed and his body in general felt too heavy for him to lug around or sit up any straighter than he was. Still, it makes it easier for Elvis to listen to the other man as he explains everything in the letter he received.
Goddammit his mama had been right, they couldn't trust this Colonel. He should- everyone's warnings and even his own gut telling him something was off and every damn time he fell right back in snowed in and trapped like only a true Southern boy could be by that snow.
Elvis found himself squeezing the bridge of his nose and exhaling, "we could have done this back in '68. Or 69 or 70. Could have taken 'Cilla and Lisa to see Paris."
Might have helped smooth over some of the dumb things he's done. Could have reminded her that he was her husband and she was his wife- his gorgeous spitfire birdie.
"Yeah," Jerry shakes his head, "honestly, we could have done those dates in half the time we've been here in Vegas and the States. Probably had more money too, even with the deal."
"Don't remind me, Jerry." He spits the sentence out with a little more force than he means to. He knows he's a fool when it comes to business and letting the Colonel get away with what BB's told him time and and time again is highway robbery but he hates dealing with all those details now and he always has. Maybe now he ought to try and see what's going on.
Or not if the flash of pain slicing through his head causing him to roll his head to the opposite side. He should have had Dr. Nick give him something for his head at least. Maybe once they get to the hospital they'll give him something. They always do even if he has to make new pain to get something.
"Lay back, EP." Jerry mutters while looking out the window to see if any photographers are trying to catch a photo. He spots one but with Elvis' tilted the way he is, he's pretty sure they're safe. "We'll talk about it later. Can't have you passing out again before we get you inside. Not that sure I can hold up all of your weight."
If Elvis was a little more coherent and a little less exhausted, he might have punched Jerry in the arm for that- defended his eating habits and told the man he wasn't that much of a feather either. He isn't though and all he can muster up is a light kick to the shins and a mumbled and mildly slurred, "I know ya didn't just call m' fat."
The only response he gets is a deep laugh as they start to pull into the hospital. "Wouldn't dream of it. Priscilla might though."
It's hard to get Elvis into the building without anyone noticing but they've had to play this song and dance so many times that by now it's beginning to be an old hat to everyone and Elvis finds that he's always a little more thankful everything but tonight especially. His filter is gone and his temper is barely in check that he doesn't think he could handle a question about why he's here asked by someone with a camera shoved in his face. Why else would he be here? What dumbass question is that?
The ride up to his room is slower than he's used to but maybe it's just his perception of time feeling off. After all, they have to be moving faster than this goddamn snail's pace with him. What if it was something big that's got him this tired? Having them move like this would get him killed not that it mattered right now, he thought, because he's not dying he's just- he needs a break, one that he hasn't had for such a long time. Maybe he'll just go to sleep now, just until they get him settled in.
He hears The Colonel before he sees him in any capacity. His eyes barely open up at the tap of the cane and he knows he needs to sit up, get up and get the man out of his room but the idea seems like an impossible task. Jerry's voice sounds muffled but Elvis thinks he hears him say something about him being asleep and leave him be.
"Nonsense! He's being overdramatic! The showman never stops, hm?" Elvis can feel both the Coloniel's presence in body and feel his breath far too close to his face for comfort in the moment. The shiver that escapes his body is a mixture of disgust and actual chill and he tries to will his arm to move while mumbling.
It fails miserably and Elvis curses his own body for betraying him in the moment he needs it to be with him. Any other time was fine, but right now when he needs to be in fighting form to get this leech of a man away from him the betrayal just slices a knife right through him. Thankfully he hears the door open and a voice he's never heard- a new doctor he thinks- speak before is pulling Parker away with more force than is probably necessary.
"I know you're his manager, Mr. Parker, but he's not going to respond right now. I'll call security on you if you don't leave Mr. Presley be until tomorrow morning."
He hears the Colonel grumbling something about being a Colonel and trying to put up a resistance before blissful silence. He had almost forgotten what that sounds like.
He wakes up in Graceland- or at least what Graceland was a decade and a half ago. Right when his mama had been there and- he loves decorating his home, he does but there was something to be said about how his mama made it look. He can't actually be in Graceland, he's sure he was at the hospital in Las Vegas before he opened his eyes but seeing everything around him settles something in him, lulls him into believing this is real. He wants it to be real, wants for at least a moment to pretend he's this young again and his mama is still here and he can still fly away like he should to the Rock of Eternity.
He forces himself out of bed, trying to see if the whole house is looking like it used to and he finds himself almost immediately going to his mother's closet. He knows he shouldn't, remembers how he broke down leaning against her dresses as if the feel of them would bring her back but it's been so long and he still misses her. He misses all his girls, but his mama is the only one that isn't just a plane ride away. God, he should call Priscilla, have her bring over Lisa Marie. It feels like it's been an age since he's seen them.
"Elvis, is that you?" Elvis hears his mother's voice clear as day the moment he steps out of her closet and his knees just buckle underneath him. She's not real, this can't be real and yet that's her voice.
"Mama?" His throat feels as if there isn't a single drop of water in it and he swears he feels his eyes watering his vision is getting blurry enough that he hopes he's crying. He forces himself to swallow when he looks up to see her looking older than he remembers. "It's me."
Her smile lights up almost every fiber of his being, it's almost the same feeling he gets when little Lisa grins and giggles at him but somehow just different in the most subtle of ways. "You know you're not supposed to be in my closet. If you needed to find me you know where I am."
At home, six feet under and dead for longer than he likes to admit is his first thought before he let's out a huff of a laugh, "the kitchen, I know, Mama. Just wasn't sure about it today."
"You know better than to lie to me, boobie. You know I can tell." She moves her hand out to touch his face and Elvis leans in quicker than he thought he was capable of moving. He can feel the tears on his cheeks now, knowing that this isn't real and his mama isn't this old but if this is what his exhaustion is dreaming up he'll take it. He'll be this exhausted for just a little while longer just to see her and feel her comfort. "Get up off the floor, I can't give you a hug like that."
His bones protest the movement, creaking in ways they probably shouldn't and he sways just a little too much to where he stumbles just momentarily into the wall. Gladys is there to catch him though and the look on her face brings such a rush of shame in his body that he feels like a little boy getting in trouble for something major. "You shouldn't be moving like that."
"I'm older mama, pushing 40. My body just-" He finds himself being shushed and cut off all at once.
"That's nonsense, almost 40 or not my strong boy wouldn't be stumbling like that just from getting up. You haven't been drinking have you?"
There is an irony that isn't lost on Elvis and he has to bite his tongue to not back talk at his mother but he can't stop the way his lips purse just a bit and his upper lip inches toward a bit of a snarl before he answers her. "No, mama, you know I get mean when I drink anyway. I'm just tired and I'm in some pain."
A lot of pain, but he figures he was due for something that Dr. Nick would give him so that was to be expected even with his exhaustion- can't escape parts of his own body from acting up.
He feels her arms wrap around him. "You mean that pain they've got you on all those pills for, boobie?"
In the back of his mind he can hear himself singing that he's caught in a trap as he pulls away from her embrace to touch at her face and look at his mother. This isn't right, she shouldn't know about that, shouldn't know how bad it's been getting. This isn't real but he's so tired, who's she gonna tell?
"Yeah, mama, that pain. I've got it handled though-"
"For God's sake, boobie, I wish you wouldn't take all those pills, they can't be good for you." His mother pleads looking at him straight into his eyes. Hell, into his soul for all he knew.
He remembers telling her not to drink so much, how it wasn't good for her and he can't help the bark of a laugh that exits his throat with such ferocity that it startles him. Mama didn't need the alcohol, but he's pretty sure he needs at least some of these pills.
"Mama-"
"No, boobie, you know I'm right, you're losing yourself and I don't like seeing you like this."
His eyes narrow who did she think she was saying that to him of all people after she drank herself to death leaving him with his daddy and making it so he couldn't introduce her to Priscilla and her granddaughter. "I didn't like seeing you dead, Mama."
Her face looks hurt for a moment before she exhales slowly. "I was worried. I'm still worried. Promise me you'll cut back, Elvis. You might have the strength of two men but Jesse can't save you forever."
He wants to deny it but there's a part of him, small as it is that knows she's right. That Jesse might have been saving him all these years but the full moons are getting harder and harder to catch so to speak. Still, he doesn't know if he can, because it's hard- everything is starting to bust on him and he just wants a break. If he could just rest and reset he'd be fine, but he's gotta pay for Graceland and the Mafia.
His breath leaves his body in one swoop when he looks up at his mother through his lashes and he nods his head. "I'll try. At least a little."
Will he is the real question, but what's the harm in lying to his dead mother? It's not like she could be mad at him for it or hit him for it.
"Good, now let's head to the kitchen, boobie, I made your favorite." Gladys smiles and motions for him to follow her.
It's then that Elvis feels the pull of real life yanking him back against his will. He knew this was a dream but it was so nice that he just wanted to stay for a little while, just rest for a little while. Maybe if he just shuts his eyes it'll stay put just a little while longer.
He thinks he feels his eyes shut and feels his body become weightless as a bird before-
"What the hell?!"

re: your joseph replacing holly post yes. holly was in such an unfortunate situation writing wise. she wasn't even mentioned in parts proceeding sdc. the best way to understand a character like jotaro is by understanding the surrounding characters. for example, we can infer a lot about jotaro's presence around others by paying attention to what people have to say about holly's presence. we can tell a lot about how much jotaro loves his friends by paying attention to the love holly shows outwardly. holly who is a character that has a strong connection and is no less his *mother* would not only be a wonderful character in her own right but she and jotaro would flourish in such a fitting way. these aren't the most coherent statements but anyways. when it comes to a main character's parents, even (kind of) with jotaro in part 6, araki pushes them almost completely aside. which, on one hand, makes room for the mc to have their story unfold with the spotlight on them (which makes sense in any narrative but given that jojo is all about the best of humanity something something their virtuosity has time to shine something something), but on the other hand (ironically enough) there is so much left OUT from the character's relationships. with holly in particular it also has to do with the fact that at the time araki's character and story writing was much more grand and had a lot of misogyny rooted in it, but yes. holly replacing joesph is good food for thought. it would also be great if she joined along with joseph. at the same time, using stone ocean as comparison, it's somewhat understandable why she isn't around. <- but this is only looking at the text the main reason why unfortunately is because she's a woman. rip women.
ok. this is a lot i apologize (it also mainly had to do w jotaro but hes my little guy what can i do) but tl;dr, both jotaro and holly's individual characters as well as their relationship as well as holly's stand would feel much more developed. sdc would be even more incredible.
oh side note, with jotaro's part 3 writing in particular there is a lot briefly touched but never given the time to properly unfold. of course with enough analysis you can realize these traits but it would be wonderful to see jotaro with (let's say) the writing of a later part. we had a brief glimpse of this in stone ocean but. yeah. wow. *sweats bye
YOU ARE RIGHT . YOU ARE SOOOOOO RIGHTTTTTT NODDING MY HEAD SUPER FAST. youre so right about understanding jotaros character by understanding the other characters around him!!!!!

This may very well come off as asinine. If it does, I apologize. Not sure how to put it otherwise. I’ve been wondering for a while now, given some of your meta, what would happen if you found yourself on the business end of a ‘the table is doing it wrong and I could do better’ situation. Are you expecting a massive course correction from Matt? Somebody to leave and come back as a different character? Is it possible you’ll just lose interest? Genuinely very excited to see what you have to say.
Not asinine at all, and while I have a few other similar questions I think this covers the most ground and will be the main one for my answer!
My initial course corrections would have ideally been, as said, during session zero. If I were Matt at that point I would have at minimum said "hey, I am hoping to do a lore-heavy campaign. Right now, there are no characters with both a reason to be interested in this lore and the intelligence score to back it up. Let's talk through what you want to do: I can change the campaign, but that means changing some of the details I've previously sent you and probably waiting a bit longer so I can rewrite aspects of it. I can also see if anyone's willing to reconsider either their class or their stats; I'm willing to allow for some generous stats rerolling/items to make up for deficiencies since this does mean changing a character you may be attached to." I mentioned Imogen's Open Mind feature and switching that to an INT save; I'd have specifically brought that up to Laura.
(I also would have probably uh...86'ed a couple of the characters from the start as as discussed prior so as not to end up in this situation. Matthew Mercer is famously an incredibly sweet person; I am not, and I do think that there's a way to respectfully tell a player "I'm sorry but this doesn't work." But again, that's getting way too far back.)
The other thing to do is, quite honestly, don't make this plotline come up so early. Later in the campaign, after the party is bonded, I think having NPCs doing the legwork wouldn't be so rough, but right now it means the party keeps kind of being shepherded through by smarter acquaintances. I think if we hadn't had Yu come in and force the Calloway plot which is connected to the Ruidus plot? We could focus on Ashton and FCG, whose backstories don't require nearly the same amount of research, and the party could start to cohere more over that. I think if we spent episodes 25-40 or something on FCG and Treshi and the party had more time to breathe and become friends, you could introduce NPCs more readily.
However, we're well past that so the things I'd do if I were Matt and had recently realized what was going on:
Have a mid-campaign session zero! Say what you didn't say earlier! Say "hey guys, I'm so sorry, and what I planned isn't working. Is anyone interested in playing a different character or having a stats mix-up, and if so, let's talk through what that might look like and how we can bring it in." Like, ideally, yeah, someone would play a new character, but as a DM you can't just make that happen; you do need the players on board. I will say: if Sam has any kind of Charlie to Devexian change in mind for FCG, which I presume he would have talked through with Matt, and which would be a very reasonable point to switch around stats pretty dramatically, I'd talk to him and try to accelerate that timeline quite a bit. However, this only works if Sam did have that in mind.
If no one wants to change their character but they are cool with changing around some stats: take a page from Brennan's Fantasy High season 2 book and put the characters in a situation where their stats might change or be rerolled. Put them in a dust storm that's eerily reminiscent of the red storm! Have Delilah go ham with the gnarlrock! Do a mad scientist brain lightning moment with the machine next episode? It's going to be a little contrived probably, but we can get past that quickly. This is honestly my favorite option.
This would be risky but could pay off really well: have a trusted strong guest player who is excited to play a high intelligence ally join them for a long (like...Dorian's 14 episodes) arc. As mentioned I think having a guest play an antagonist was a risk that didn't pay off, but having a guest play a quest-giver and ally is a bit safer. The one drawback is, again, the baseline Bells Hells have had more episodes with guests than without, and this could just make the party's fragmentation worse by introducing new weird groups.
If no one wants to change their character at this point (valid! they've been playing them for a while) and no one wants to change their stats...I would probably try to be a little heavy-handed and rail-road-y and make it clear that the Calloway parents, Hondir, and Ira have things handled for Ruidus, get Treshi resolved as quickly as possible as well, and send the party to Yios. At that point make it more of a political challenge to learn information, meted out bit by bit by contacting the right people, rather than one of research. The thing is, you don't need a high int party for D&D in general. I was just thinking that A Court of Fey and Flowers has only one character with good intelligence - but it's a comedy of manners, which runs on an engine of charisma and insight. This party is good at charisma skills and insight as well as sneaking around, and doing this in a university town in which secrets are a source of intrigue and currency lets them play to their strengths.
There's definitely plenty more you could do - pivot to EXU for a bit, give some characters a stopping point there, return with half of a new party, for example - but it's all hard to say. I think my point is that this does require a time out of speaking to the players and laying it out on the table, getting their input, and moving from there. The ways to fix it are endless though most are going to be a little awkward, but they need to be something everyone is on board with.
As for whether I will lose interest: hard to say! I'm still enjoying a lot of the characters, the setting is great, and I still like Ruidus lore. I've mentioned before that EXU Prime and Kymal had plots that don't make any sense to me but the characters and world were fun enough for me to keep on. I think I'll probably keep watching for that if nothing else, but ask me in another 20 episodes.

My Jing Yuan build ( ╹▽╹ )
Tumblr media
Just a simple blog with screenshots of my Jing Yuan and some of my thoughts how I'm planning on building him and such other things. This isn't going to be the most coherent post so apologies about that (ꏿ﹏ꏿ;) This is mostly just screenshots of what I have relics I have on him, his trace levels and so on. So this isn't an in-depth post about the tiny details of his kit and game play.
Oh! Constrictive criticism, suggestions and tips are welcome l! Just keep in mind that I'm more of a casual player who did spend quite a bit of money on Jing Yuan (^~^;)ゞ
Details
Tumblr media
Nothing much to say. I'm happy about his CRIT rate to CRIT dmg ratio. It could be better but it's good for now ( ╹▽╹ ) and I am planning to ascend him but I'm currently mostly working on Arlan and Bailu. I could also work on his speed but yeah
Light Cone
Tumblr media
Yes I got his light cone and I'm just happy to have it. Before I got it I used "The Seriousness of Breakfast" but then I obviously changed to this beautiful masterpiece (◡ ω ◡)
I was actually really surprised that I managed to get it as I thought my shity luck from Genshin would follow me to Star rail but I was wrong.
Traces
Tumblr media
One thing I like about Star rail is the more skill tree look they designed the Traces menu. It's mostly just a personal preference as I grew up with games with skill trees. It also helps me keep on track with what I need to focus on and what needs leveling up.
One thing I find really useful about having Jing Yuan on my team is when Lighting god spirit has its turn. At first I was confused how it worked but I figured it out pretty fast. His ult is also really pretty (✯ᴗ✯)
Relics
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now just a quick overview of the relic sets and the current best relic I have. Currently I've been grinding to get better relics but I keep getting ones with DEF and HP. Which I wouldn't mind if they weren't on the relics I need for Jing Yuan ಠ∀ಠ
But I'm content with the stats, though they could be better and I would like to have more useful 5* relics.
Edolons
Tumblr media
Yes I have him at E1. I somehow managed to get his first edolon with only a few days left on his banner. I honestly didn't think I would get it but here we are (人*´∀`)。*゚+
The end
Tumblr media
So I hope that y'all enjoyed this random rambling and me showing my Jing Yuan. This also works as a nice bookmark of sorts for me to look back on in the future. Anyway hope that y'all have a good day and see ya!

Tell me about your pd thoughts if you'd like to share them?
I wasn't even going to share my thoughts because the only way I can make them coherent is by rewatching the s10 premiere and I... don't want to do that. I didn't actively enjoy the Voight-centric episode. shocker.
Some thoughts (not complete in any way) under the cut. Beware of spoilers. mentions of drug use because... they really decided to hurt us with that premiere, huh?
Were there parts of it I enjoyed? Yeah. But I... do not care about Voight's problems. I have never liked him as a character. When I found out he was still in charge in s9 during my binge last year, I was angry. I'm still angry. Do I understand why he's acting like this? Yeah, grief and guilt are fucking wild they'll make people do things they normally wouldn't, and the things Voight was doing in 10x01, the instances where he was actively putting his team in danger - Torres, Jay, Hailey, all of them - that isn't Voight behavior.
The lying, the secrecy, the going off on his own and acting against orders? That's pretty normal for Voight, unfortunately. I hate it, but I can't change him. At this point I genuinely don't think he can be changed, because I don't think he wants to? He's doing exactly what I predicted back in May, pushing Jay away and not letting him help, so I'll take that as a little win, personally.
My post last night about my thoughts was about Voight's continued bullshit. I'm tired of it. While some of the stuff he said about Upstead was true, it was a very cruel and unnecessary moment in the episode, honestly. I see the metaphor in him stepping in during their moment in Mouse's cage of all places and that being representative of him meddling in their marriage and their dynamic, but I think it's a stupid, contrived way to write Jesse out of the show.
Voight needs to face consequences for his actions, not get a longer leash from the higher ups. I... do not like the new chief. It's very much so going to turn into an Old Boys Club between him and Voight, and apparently we're not even going to have Jay there to balance that out, so I'm going to complain the entire time.
Um... lightning round? because some of the episode actually fed me really well?
I got to see Greg the mouse pretty early on in the episode, that was nice. I love that little guy.
Jay's little smile when picking up Torres was so cute, actually. He's grown on you, Halstead. You like him. You're gonna miss him when you leave.
Heroin/opioid cases in general always make me think about Mouse, for the obvious reasons, so I got to sit in that little bubble for an hour. That was fun for me. (+ the first half of the episode with the kid who OD'd and the parents being uncaring about it? it's not a one-to-one parallel to my Mouse backstory but I'm living off of crumbs I'll take it I love being sad and suffering)
Mom! Not enough mom but also... I got a glimpse of mom 😊
I'm gonna get hate for this but like... I don't care about Upstead? But I don't know how I feel about their relationship being dragged through the mud for the sake of a plot device. Their marriage is still fairly new? Let them breathe?
I'm also sitting here wondering how Hailey goes from feeling Like This about Voight to supposedly "confiding in him" about Jay in two episodes. Because... I think Hailey might hate Voight more than me. Which is fair. Because holy shit the stuff he's doing is awful, even by Hank Voight standards.
TLDR;; I'm really sick and tired of The Hank Voight show, and all the things he said to Jay and Hailey toward the end of the episode made me super uncomfortable. Basically threatening to fire them because of the shit that he is putting them through is giving me major s4 vibes - namely some of Voight's bullshit being the thing that pushed Mouse out the door way back when.
That being said, if Jay and Mouse's exits parallel each other? I'm going to be the most annoying person in the world. And I won't apologize for any of it. I will complain the whole time though because I'm sick and tired of Voight creating this toxic, unhealthy environment for his team and then not facing any kind of repercussion for it. Because at this point it's manipulative and controlling and I still get angry about this exact same shit in s4 at least once a week.

Hi, hello it’s me again sorry lol but if you will:
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
❌ What's a trope you will never write?
Hello! Don't apologize! I love seeing you in my notes and inbox and stuff!!!!!!
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?: This very dumb bit from A God on His Knees that I swear is funnier in context:
"Yeah, you're kind of hot when you're being a jerk. Maybe I'm just bent like that."
"Can't be any more unwell than me, love. I'm the one on my knees here."
🎢 Which of your fics would you consider your wildest ride?: I genuinely don't know if this question means wildest to read or wildest to write but writing wise? QUICK STUDY. Holy shit, I think that's the most stressed a fic has ever made me. The only other fic I've written a similar to it was A Pleasent Visit, and it was nowhere near as explicit it was... a trip to say the least. It was... a lot.
Wildest to read though? Burberry and Regret chapter one because I still can't tell if the match between Bryan and MJF and the brawl that follows is coherent and easy to follow LMAO
✨ Give you and your writing a complement. Come on now, you know you deserve it 😉: (*patting myself on the head*) I am pretty proud of the way I write my x readers and nameless OFCs, unless it explicitly says GN or x black reader I think I'm really good at making the descriptions as vague as possible so anyone can read them, you know?
❌ What is a trope you will never write? Anything where consent isn't explicit or enthusiastic. And on a less serious note, enemies to lovers. I don't count A God On His Knees because Will and the nameless ofc didn't even dislike eachother for that long. I just don't have the patience for it, you know? I'm a soft romance kind of person I like meet-cutes, pining, yearning, friends to lovers, that kind of jazz. Enemies to lovers just isn't my thing.

At first, Yuri was a bit concerned to know Flynn was buried in work. After it made sense because he was the damn commandant, Yuri almost found himself... not caring. A commandant was still a person. Flynn could be the greatest, most important person in the world (he was, but Yuri wasn't preaching that to people just yet. Er. To strangers, yet!), but he still needed to get out of the castle, and Yuri was getting tired of not seeing him with all that nonsense over and done with.
Thankfully with Ioder very officially having taking the throne now, Yuri was quite literally allowed to come and go as he pleased. The man was almost crazy, setting Yuri up with a goddamn stupid pass so none of the knights stopped him for looking like "a shady guy from the Lower Quarter". Good for Yuri; hilarious that Ioder was that crazy.
Good for Yuri because he was also lucky enough to come across Ioder before getting to Flynn's room, hearing that he was working on "important official things". Right. Like he had been for like, a week straight now. So Yuri went straight to his room, knocked a few times and naturally did not wait long before opening the door and sticking his head in, very much feigning politeness. "Sorry to intruuude."
He let out a huff as Flynn was indeed working, but that wasn't about to stop him. "You still working? I mean yeah, dumb question, but take a break." He paused, lips sliding into almost a pout as he tried genuine politeness. "...Please? Maybe?" He didn't want to say the rest of it outright, but they still... kind of deserved time to hang out, right? They had already patched a lot up, but... Yuri wasn't sure he'd done enough yet. He could be as careless and irritating to anyone else as he wanted, but to his lifelong friend? Flynn at least deserved sincerity.
Had he been expecting VISITORS, mayhap he'd have attempted to look a tad more put together. The work is plentiful, yet time, unfortunately, is not; the amount he's poured into said work is certainly starting to show itself in the form of dark circles and a few -- just a FEW -- out of place strands of hair, but it's not enough for Flynn Scifo to stop. Even as he half registers the creak of the door opening, the pen in his hand continues to fly across the parchment, line after line after line filling up the page until he's forced to start on an entirely new sheet.
If he's being honest, he isn't entirely certain these reports are making even a modicum of sense anymore, but his superior has yet to complain or correct him; coherency, then, must still be retaining itself by some godlike miracle.
Tumblr media
" ... take a... break? " Yuri's here... Yuri... Yuri! When had he entered? Ah, the door had creaked open -- right, right. " Apologies, Yuri... I almost didn't realize you'd come to visit. Did you need me for something? Is everything alright? " Yuri's been through far too much for Flynn NOT to immediately inquire as to his well being the moment he sees him, and is only somewhat ashamed to admit that he's scanning his dearest friend's body for any cuts and bruises, as well. Only when it appears naught is amiss does Flynn offer him a smile. " You were telling me to do something? Ah, a break, right? "
It's like his mind is struggling to keep up, that invisible golden retriever-esque tail of his wagging in genuine happiness towards the man standing but mere feet away from him, but his thoughts still on the sludge filled train of exhaustion and fatigue.
Tumblr media
" Will this break be spent with you? There is much for us to catch up on, so if you're fine with waiting for me to finish this last report... we can be on our way! "
@bravewolfvesperia ;;
