~ SAUCHA~
The first of the five niyamas is saucha, which translates to cleanliness or purity. It is both physical and emotional, internal and external, and applies to the self and to our surroundings; all these dichotomous facets of saucha come together to help yogis work toward a state of true purity.
External physical cleanliness may be the most obvious, and it does include things like hand washing and teeth brushing.
It also includes Ayurvedic cleansing techniques that are becoming more mainstream, namely oil pulling, tongue scraping, and nasal rinsing.

Patterns continue to come up. The space between the fallback becomes longer. The recognition and release becomes smoother. The return to equilibrium is worked for. The practice continues. - It's not about perfection. It's about practice. It's not about the end result. It's about how you get there. It's not about never getting sick or hurt. It's about the best option for health and recovery. It's about learning how to return to center a little bit more smoothly every time. It's about understanding yourself a bit better, and being willing to work at being a better at being you. - There is a me (you) that is covered up by the grime of history, experiences, culture, core believes - not being good enough, being weak, being X, not being y. The practice is about knowing who I am (you are) when all that shit doesn't dim my (your) shine. #yogajourney #innerjourney #journeykeeper #thislittlelightofmine #yogapractice #sundayyoga #yogaphilosophy #releasingpatterns #yogaessence #yogalife #yogapracticenotyogaperfect (at Midrand, Gauteng) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu0tL8VgNId/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=19fs7kbfw6cvw

Meditation is referred to as a physical and mental practice to calm your mind and body in different ways, focusing one’s attention and becoming one with the universal Self. From more than 5000 years the yoga and meditation have been in practice in the Universe. Today, when everyone is getting busy in their hectic daily routine and when the level of tension is at its peak, the need for Meditation has also gone up. But the general question that arises in the mind of people is how to learn meditation practices and teach them rightly?

She has been teaching Yoga for 40 years, can you imagine! But what took me by surprise was the splendid book she has authored - "Letters from the Yoga Masters...". It is so detailed, authentic and interesting all at the same time that makes one wonder how much of an effort went into writing it. Since it includes information, artifacts and as the name suggests, letters from multiple sources, it was absolutely necessary to have both authenticity ingrained and permissions taken for each one of those. And it was done with complete obeyance. The compilation is so breath-taking that one cruises in wonderland all the while reading this book. What she may have not realized yet is the fact that by collecting and putting together this kind of information that is going to be all the more difficult to discover from other sources as time goes by, she has created a jewel to be treasured for ages. Being from India, I feel especially grateful to her for saving all this important and nostalgic detail about such great masters as Raman Maharishi and Swami Sivananda etc. from going into obsolescence. No, I'm not done yet, bear with me! We all watch movies, or most of us do. But sometimes when I get to watch a short behind-the-scenes clip, I'm startled. What all it takes to create a small sequence in the movie is mostly beyond imagination. Similarly, for all the great masters that are no longer with us, we mostly get to know their public-facing side, their teachings, their viewpoints and their methods. But it gives a lot of insight if one gets a chance to peep into more of their personal side, what all it took for them to become what they became. That's exactly where this book fits in. The great masters, well, most of them, were connected with a lot many people during their times. And before the advent of video chat and phone-over-internet in the recent times, the most convenient form of communication was letters, of course. By going through these, we really understand these great men, quite truly we get to see the "making of the masters".
I'm thankful to her for authoring this really beautiful piece of work - this will be savored by the generations. This is the website of the book - www.lettersfromtheyogamasters.com.
Besides this book and the teachers' training program, she is involved in many other things related to Yoga - ask your friend Google.
If you are thinking of doing a Teachers' Training course, I strongly recommend SOYA yoga. You'll be thrilled!

Learn the language of your body.
We spend so much time looking in the mirror, judging our appearance as a way to measure ourselves.
But we do not listen to the living wisdom beneath the surface.
Be still, allowing that landscape to awaken and breathe its radiance through your every pore.

~Baddha konasana~
Baddha konasana is a basic seated asana that opens the hips and the muscles of the groin.
The term comes from the Sanskrit baddha, meaning “bound,” kona, meaning “angle” and asana, meaning “pose” or “posture.”
To enter the pose, sit with the back straight, directly on the sit bones of the buttocks. Bend the knees, bringing the feet together in front of the body with the toes, arches and heels pressed against each other while the hands remain on the feet.
Keeping the feet together, bring the heels as close to the groin area as comfortable. Enjoy deep breaths in this pose for as long as needed. Individuals can also practice the pose by gently bouncing the legs up and down like butterfly wings, or by tilting the upper body forward at the hips, keeping a straight spine, to increase the stretch.
Baddha konasana is commonly referred to as butterfly pose in English.

All of the muscles in the shoulders, neck, and back area can hurt as a result of poor posture. Shortened muscles are weaker, causing additional discomfort and pain.
Yoga can help open up all of these joints and muscles, reducing chronic muscle pain and joint discomfort.
Of course, improving posture while seated, as well as standing, will help maintain a healthy back, neck, and shoulders.
All of these poses can help relieve shoulder problems that can be related to neck and back problems.
All yoga practices can help relieve tension, but these poses target the upper body, providing quick relief.

Staying indoors during lockdown is stressful for every one of us. We can neither interact with the outside world in person nor get close to nature. Being locked up for so many days doing monotonous chores affects our minds and leads to stress.
So, let’s counter it by infusing some energetic vibes in and around our homes.
Each one of us needs to squeeze out at least 30 minutes time for a workout, preferably in the morning. By fitness, doesn’t mean just being fit physically, instead having a healthy mind, body and soul as well.
