Normally Sanji is the most put together person between him and Luffy. He’s probably the most put together person on the entire crew besides Robin. Meanwhile Luffy is a walking disaster, chaos is naturally drawn to him and he’s ALWAYS getting into trouble. When it comes to their actual romantic relationship tho. It’s COMPLETELY flipped lmao

Luffy will walk out on deck with his hair slightly tousled and his vest a bit askew but that’s normal for him. He looks smug as hell but that’s also normal for him. Nobody bats an eye. #love is better the second time around #also i adore the mains a whole fucking lot #iwagawa is the perfect mix of pathetic and desperate veiled in cocky and sophisticated #and miyata’s character is just a gem like the way he has transformed from his younger self is so refreshing to see #like this is a kid that was so pure and sweet and open and when he believed that all got trampled on he didn’t let it go to the extreme of #becoming hard and emotionless instead he really has just matured into an adult that actually cares for and values himself #like that hurt made him feel worthless but now he knows he isn’t worthless #like he internalised it through the way he protects himself from others but he does it both to not feel that hurt again but also bc he #thinks well of himself and i just adore the fact we get to see a timid kid grow into someone with self-respect it’s so cool and refreshing #and even when it comes at his detriment bc he won’t let himself believe iwagawa is being honest or that he’s ever been - that it’s all just #a joke or teasing or whatever it’s not frustrating bc you both get where it comes from but also feel like you can support him pushing him #away bc he does it for himself and for the person he’s become #so like… to watch a show where you’re both deeply rooting for the couple but also support when they push each other away… idk how they did #it but they did. the premise is simple and the show is simple but every moment and interaction is electric and thrilling and that’s the kind #of show i love. one that can convey how seemingly interactions are full of tension and stakes for these people. it’s so hard to convey that #but this show nails it and i just can’t get enough now.

Sure I’m glad (mostly) that YA is the booming juggernaut it is today because it’s cool that 14 year olds can have stories for them. Sure. More books is always better. That’s fun— thoughts on book influencer culture and grown-ups and literature as soulless and ever-churning product aside. It’s cool to walk into any tiny neighborhood library branch and see a dedicated space for teenagers. When I was a young teenager there were a couple of small shelves in between adult audiobooks and the biographical section where you walked in and your choices were either Twilight, Eragon, or some candy-pink Sex And The City-lite dishy little book like the one that has got some reason come rushing unbidden to the forefront of my memory this morning called “Vegan Virgin Valentine” which I never wound up reading but was always compelled by through a mixture of intrigue and condescension. The YA landscape pre-Hunger Games mania was like…here’s a super scandalous book about anorexia or teen pregnancy written in verse. Or a pandering Book For Boys about combat or fart humor. Or a twilight knock-off about a girl who has sex with a ghost. So while any glimpse of the bloated realm of teen publishing makes me feel exhausted on account of the feverish adult fans who populate it it’s probably full of important stories for teenagers. But like truly Kids These Days have no idea what it’s like to have your only option be called “The Earth, My Butt, And Other Big Round Things” (real) or “Everlost: Soulfyre Book 3” (fabricated poorly for effect)
