Zenobius war Arzt und Priester und wurde dann Bischof in Sidon - dem heutigen Saida im Libanon. Er wurde nach der Legende in der Christenverfolgung unter Diokletian ergriffen, nach Antiochia - dem heutigen Antakya - gebracht und mit eisernen Krallen zerfleischt. Mit ihm starb auch seine Schwester Zenobia.

SAINT OF THE DAY (December 11)
Saint Damasus was born in Rome at the beginning of the fourth century.
His father, a widower, had received Holy Orders there and served as parish priest in the church of St. Laurence.
Damasus was archdeacon of the Roman Church in 355 when Pope Saint Liberius was banished to Berda.
Damasus followed him into exile but returned to Rome afterwards.
On the death of Saint Liberius in 366, our saint was chosen to succeed him, at the age of sixty-two.
A certain Ursinus, jealous of his election and desiring for himself that high office, had himself proclaimed pope by his followers, inciting a revolt against Damasus in Rome in which 137 people died.
The holy Pope did not choose to resort to armed defense, but the Emperor Valentinian, to defend him, drove the usurper from Rome for a time.
Later he returned, and finding accomplices for his evil intentions, accused the holy Pontiff of adultery.
Saint Damasus took only such action as was becoming to the common father of the faithful.
He assembled a synod of forty-four bishops in which he justified himself so well that the calumniators were excommunicated and banished.
Having freed the Church of this new schism, Saint Damasus turned his attention to the extirpation of Arianism in the West and of Apollinarianism in the East. He convened several councils for this purpose.
He sent Saint Zenobius, later bishop of Florence, to Constantinople in 381 to console the faithful, cruelly persecuted by the Emperor Valens.
He commanded Saint Jerome to prepare a correct Latin version of the Bible, since known as the Vulgate, and he ordered the Psalms to be sung accordingly.
He rebuilt and adorned the Church of Saint Laurence, still called Saint Laurence in Damaso.
He caused all the springs of the Vatican to be drained, which were inundating the tombs of the holy persons buried there.
He decorated the sepulchers of a great number of martyrs in the cemeteries, adorning them with epitaphs in verse.
Saint Damasus is praised by Theodoret as head of the famous doctors of divine grace of the Latin church.
The General Council of Chalcedon calls him the "honor and glory of Rome."
Having reigned for eighteen years and two months, he died on 10 December 384, when he was nearly eighty years old.
In the eighth century, his relics were definitively placed in the church of Saint Laurence in Damaso, except for his head, which was conserved in the Basilica of Saint Peter.
He presided over the Council of Rome of 382 that determined the canon or official list of Sacred Scripture.
Throughout his papacy, St. Damasus spoke out against major heresies in the church and encouraged production of the Vulgate Bible with his support for St. Jerome.
He helped reconcile the relations between the Church of Rome and the Church of Antioch. He also encouraged the veneration of martyrs.

THE PRIESTMARTYR ZENOBIOS, BISHOP OF EGEIA, AND HIS SISTER ZENOBIA (285)
The Hieromartyr Zenobius, Bishop of Aegea, and his sister Zenobia suffered a martyr’s death in the year 285 in Cilicia. From childhood they were raised in the holy Christian Faith by their parents, and they led pious and chaste lives. In their mature years, shunning the love of money, they distributed away their inherited wealth giving it to the poor. For his beneficence and holy life the Lord rewarded Zenobius with the gift of healing various maladies. He was also chosen bishop of a Christian community in Cilicia.
As bishop, Saint Zenobius zealously spread the Christian Faith among the pagans. When the emperor Diocletian (284-305) began a persecution against Christians, Bishop Zenobius was the first one arrested and brought to trial to the governor Licius. “I shall only speak briefly with you,” said Licius to the saint, “for I propose to grant you life if you worship our gods, or death, if you do not.” The saint answered, “This present life without Christ is death. It is better that I prepare to endure the present torment for my Creator, and then with Him live eternally, than to renounce Him for the sake of the present life, and then be tormented eternally in Hades.”
By order of Licius, they nailed him to a cross and began the torture. The bishop’s sister, seeing him suffering, wanted to stop it. She bravely confessed her own faith in Christ before the governor, therefore, she also was tortured.
By the power of the Lord they remained alive after being placed on a red-hot iron bed, and then in a boiling kettle. The saints were then beheaded. The priest Hermogenes secretly buried the bodies of the martyrs in a single grave.
Saint Zenobius is invoked by those suffering from breast cancer.
SAINT STEPHEN MILIUTIN, KING OF SERBIA (1320), HIS BROTHER DRAGUTIN, (monk Theoctistus 1316) AND THEIR MOTHER HELEN (1306)
Saint Stefan (Stephen) Miliutin, King of Serbia, his brother Dragutin, and their mother Elena (Helen): Saint Stefan was the younger son of king Stefan Urosh I, and grandson of First-Crowned King Saint Stefan (Comm. 24 September). He ruled Serbia from 1275 to 1320. Stefan Miliutin received the throne from his elder brother Dragutin, a true Christian, who after a short reign transferred power over to his brother, and he himself in loving solitude withdrew to Srem, where he did secret ascetic deeds in a grave-pit, dug by his own hand. During his righteous life, Saint Dragutin toiled much over converting the heretic Bogomils to the true faith. His death occurred on 2 March 1316.
Saint Stefan Miliutin, having become king, bravely by both word and by deed, defended the Orthodox Serbs and other same-faith peoples from numerous enemies. Pious Stefan did not forget to thank the Lord for His beneficence. More than 40 churches were built by him, as also many monastery and vagrant hostels. The saint particularly concerned himself with the Athonite monasteries.
When the Serbian kingdom fell, the monasteries remained centres of national culture and Orthodoxy for the Serb nation. Saint Stefan died on 29 October 1320 and was buried at the Bansk monastery. After two years his undecayed relics were uncovered.
Saint Elena, the pious mother to her sainted sons, after the death of her husband devoted her whole life to pious deeds: she built a shelter for the impoverished, and constructed a monastery for those wanting to live in purity and virginity. Near the city of Spich she erected the Rechesk monastery and endowed it with the necessities. Before her death, Saint Elena accepted monasticism and expired to the Lord on 8 February 1306.

And they were afraid. 36 They also who had seen it told them by what means he who had been demon-possessed was healed. 37 Then the whole multitude of the surrounding region of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. And He got into the boat and returned. 38 Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you. ST. TARSILLA, ROMAN VIRGIN, AUNT OF ST. GREGORY THE GREAT
A Roman nun and paternal aunt of Pope St. Gregory I the Great, who reigned from 590 to 604, St. Tarsilla was praised by her nephew for her faith and charity. She dedicated her life to prayer and to assisting others in difficulty. Dec. 24
St. Caranus, 7th century. A Scottish bishop venerated in Aberdeen. He served in Eastern Scotland.
ST. IRMA, ABBESS
Saint Irma lived between the seventh and eighth centuries, and was abbess of the Benedictine Monastery at Trier. Tradition says she was the daughter of St. Dagobert, King of Austrasia. She helped San Willibrord, the English monk who evangelised Frisia. Dec. 24

The Aldrichs
Once having a longstanding presence on The Isle, standing by the King throughout generations and wars. However, Lord Everald Drummond brought about a significant change, resulting in the demotion of Lord Zenobius Aldrich after the “true King's” demise. Despite maintaining his position on the King's council, Lord Zenobius struggled to conceal his bitterness, often wearing a pained smile in the King's presence. Despite maintaining his role on the council, his resentment remained evident. Lady Hadda, known for her gossip and friendship with Lady Louisa, fearlessly expressed her opinions about the King, while her cautious husband warned of the risks involved. Lady Hadda's boldness served as a reminder of the need for discretion in discussing matters concerning the King.
The Wittas
Known for being a humble family of modest farmers, relied on the unpredictable forces of nature for their livelihood. Known for their large brood of children who both contributed to the family's work and struggled to be fed, they persevered as hardworking individuals, making the best of their challenging circumstances. In a particularly harsh winter, Quintana Witta tragically lost two of her sons, further adding to their long-standing history of misfortune. However, perhaps it was the accumulation of generations of grief that eventually brought forth an unexpected twist of fate for the family. Nivard Witta received news that a distant relative had passed away, bequeathing him the remainder of their fortune. Despite the passing years, the circle of lords and ladies still regard the Wittas with condescension, treating them as inferior, even those whose wealth pales in comparison to their newfound riches.
The Nicanders
are a distinguished magical family, tracing their lineage back to the earliest practitioners of nature magic. Legend has it that farmers once worshipped them as divine figures, recognizing their innate connection to the natural world. The Keepers, the custodians of magical lore, eventually transformed the stories of the Nicanders' ancestors into a revered religious tradition. Within the community of magic users, particularly within the esteemed School of Nature, no family is held in higher regard than the Nicanders. Their legacy as masters of nature magic garners them unparalleled reverence and respect.

SAINT OF THE DAY (December 11)
Saint Damasus was born in Rome at the beginning of the fourth century.
His father, a widower, had received Holy Orders there and served as parish priest in the church of St. Laurence.
Damasus was archdeacon of the Roman Church in 355 when the Pope, Saint Liberius, was banished to Berda. Damases followed him into exile but afterwards returned to Rome.
On the death of Saint Liberius in 366, our saint was chosen to succeed him at the age of sixty-two.
A certain Ursinus, jealous of his election and desiring for himself that high office, had himself proclaimed pope by his followers, inciting a revolt against Damasus in Rome in which 137 people died.
The holy pope did not choose to resort to armed defense, but the Emperor Valentinian, to defend him, drove the usurper from Rome for a time.
The usurper later returned, and finding accomplices for his evil intentions, he accused the holy Pontiff of adultery. Saint Damasus took only such action as was becoming to the common father of the faithful.
He assembled a synod of forty-four bishops in which he justified himself so well that the calumniators were excommunicated and banished.
Having freed the Church of this new schism, Saint Damasus turned his attention to the extirpation of Arianism in the West and of Apollinarianism in the East. He convened several councils for this purpose.
He sent Saint Zenobius, later bishop of Florence, to Constantinople in 381 to console the faithful, cruelly persecuted by the Emperor Valens.
He commanded Saint Jerome to prepare a correct Latin version of the Bible, since known as the Vulgate, and he ordered the Psalms to be sung accordingly.
He rebuilt and adorned the Church of Saint Laurence, still called Saint Laurence in Damaso.
He caused all the springs of the Vatican to be drained, which were inundating the tombs of the holy persons buried there
He decorated the sepulchers of a great number of martyrs in the cemeteries, adorning them with epitaphs in verse.
Saint Damasus is praised by Theodoret as head of the famous doctors of divine grace of the Latin church. The General Council of Chalcedon calls him the "honor and glory of Rome."
Having reigned for eighteen years and two months, he died on 10 December 384 when he was nearly eighty years old.
In the eighth century, his relics were definitively placed in the church of Saint Laurence in Damaso, except for his head, which was conserved in the Basilica of Saint Peter.
He presided over the Council of Rome of 382 that determined the canon or official list of Sacred Scripture.
Throughout his papacy, Saint Damasus spoke out against major heresies in the church and encouraged production of the Vulgate Bible with his support for St. Jerome.
He helped reconcile the relations between the Church of Rome and the Church of Antioch. He also encouraged the veneration of martyrs.
