I think like, the death of Vine and Rabbit, Wikipedia constantly needing to beg for money, Discord depending so heavily on venture capital, Facebook turning towards spying on users to generate a return on all the venture capital that got them started, Adobe creative suite turning into a subscription rather than a single product you buy, the strangulation of streaming entertainment as every company pulls their content and makes it exclusive to their service, are all great examples of how like, it really doesn’t matter if something is legitimately useful, efficient, or beloved, it is next to impossible for a service to exist if it doesn’t make shareholders increasing amounts of money year after year. Which may seem like a “no duh” type of statement, but it’s a very simple window into how the profit motive makes products and services worse, not better. And how that’s not just a matter of certain companies or ceos being bad and greedy on an individual level, but is an inescapable factor of an economy where existence is dependent on generating capital.

Alright, I didn't get to see the end of the Tales lore, so forgive me if this is outta pocket,

But I with Jack's character on the Other Side would have kinda just-

Why I think the previous time traveler is Eret.

I had this big, long post already typed out, and then my computer crashed and it didn’t save, so this is the abridged version! 

A lot of this is hinged on the relationship between Eret and Foolish. Particularly the bit mentioned in the stream about Foolish and Eret cleaning up the bloodvines in March of last year. During a conversation in that stream Foolish makes it known that he and Eret used to be close friends, and that prior to being here, Eret and he adventured, fighting trolls and taking down wither cults. The thing about this though is Eret doesn’t remember any of this. Which, if we’re looking for someone with memory problems to fit the bill of XDs description…Eret fits.  Why I think this is particularly important is because this memory gap isn’t with just anyone, it’s with Foolish. A character that has been established to be quite powerful and old. Foolish has been referred to as a sort of God or Demi-God, and even before XD gave him immortality, he had powers over lightning. Honestly there’s a lot to talk about in terms of Foolish’s lore here, but ultimately my point is that it’s highly likely that Foolish has existed for a while and has been alive during any of the Tales Episodes taking place in the past. (in fact, there’s some nods in Ponks lore that Foolish had interactions with the Town that went mad, but nothing is super concrete there.)  So I don’t think it’s too far fetched of an idea to say that Foolish knew Eret as a time traveler, and the two became friends whenever Eret traveled to the past. But at some point, Eret began forgetting just like Karl is, and thus he doesn’t remember Foolish now.  talking a bit meta, and outside of the lore aspect. I think it’s interesting to note the time tables of this particular conversation. The last Tales episode we had before the nearly year break was March 20th and that was when we learned about the other side, and Karls lore for Tales seemed to be shaping into something larger. The conversation between Eret and Foolish happened shortly after, i think it was around March 28th. Meaning that it’s not unreasonable that Eret and Foolish could have been setting up the story to allow for Eret to start learning about their past and having it tied into Karls story with Tales.  We haven’t gotten much in terms of Eret lore since that conversation with Foolish, up until a couple weeks ago, when Eret began getting more involved with lore as a whole. She helped with getting Michael back, and putting Sam in prison, and more recently had a stream showing Eryn around the SMP and telling him about the history of the world. And I’m not saying that it’s necessarily connected, but it’s certainly interesting that Eret is picking up his lore around the same time that Karl is.  Speaking of that stream with Eryn, the two at some point in the stream visit Dreams old base, and find the chest left by XD, now empty as Sapnap has already taken the Death Note. And because of this, Eryn asks if Eret has heard of/seen/met XD. And in this moment, Eret seems confused and unfamiliar of who XD is, Eret saying that they’ve never heard of XD before. Which is interesting to me, seeing as how almost everyone it seem acknowledges XD as the god of this server, so why isn’t it Eret knows this?  Well, I would propose that it was XD making Eret forget. XD did say in the recent Tales stream that he ”took care of” his previous time traveler because said time traveler forgot that he even was one. I think perhaps that Eret had served her use to XD, and since he could no longer time travel, XD left him in the present day world of the SMP to live out the rest of her life, without any of the knowledge she previously possessed. Including the fact that a god like XD existed.  The last point I really want to touch upon is the role that Eret has played on the SMP, especially as of late. At this point in time, Eret is desperately seeking forgiveness and redemption for his betrayal against L’Manburg. Because even people who joined the server far later don’t trust Eret because of this action, and he wants that trust back so he can do good again. They want to help others, and unite them, they always have, it’s the reason they betrayed in the first place. Because she thought Dream would be able to unite the server and bring peace and friendship again. Something which vaguely reminds me of Karl now. Karl wants to help people, whether in the past, present, or future, but might ultimately make selfish decisions in order to hopefully right the world.  Eret also has been taking up the mantle of historian, especially as of late and as we’ve seen with Eryn. We’ve seen Erets museum, replications of important past events and I can’t help but see similarities between this and the Other Side. There’s a need to preserve what has happened as a time traveler in order to help inform future decisions. Perhaps, somewhere deep inside, Eret remembers this, and so he fulfills this duty the best he can. He might not remember why he does it, but he knows it’s important.  I’m sure there will be other stuff that comes up, but for now, these are my thoughts, feel free to add your own!

Okay chapter 8 spoilers so don't continue if you haven't read it yet

This isn't based off of any evidence or theory crafting, just a hunch that I've got. Figured it was worth posting for anyone interested.

So, this probably has nothing to do with anything, but Watson says that Ran is missing a chemical in his brain's composition, yeah? Didn't really think it related to anything we knew so far, until he mentioned bee venom. Immediately caught my attention because of the fact that bees are often referenced in relation to Tubbo. (That specific fact isn't directly relevant, but figured I'd explain why it drew me in).

Poisons were referenced by Jackie in an earlier chapter (hence why this is attached to that meme I posted that one time).

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but I feel like these things might end up being related in some way. This really is just a soul read, though, so I encourage you to take this with a grain of salt.

Jackie: "Of course, there’s always gonna be one or two poisons out there that there’s just no countering, and then I’ll be done for.”
