Life is Good!
The plan was to write here weekly, but I decided not to... For the correct reasons. You see, because I opted to not make this a weekly site, I'm living a pretty good life at the moment. Why? Let me explain. I'm working on other projects that I'm quite proud of. Whether I and/or my company I run with Mike, Crude Humor Studios, gets full recognition for all of it or not; it still feels good to be doing it. The crown jewel for us is That's Entertainment and we've been on a streak of posting content. It's mainly reviews, but we've brought people on board so that we can concentrate on other things. I'm behind, but confident I can get our FIRST web series launched by the end of October. It's called The Batlog and is a what if scenario starring The Batman. I'm super excited about those possibilities. And I think I've finally found a podcast I can maintain while working on other projects, called Everything is Awesome. I've got four episodes in the can, with at least another guest that will likely be a two parter scheduled before we debut in November. There are other things going on in that world that I'm very excited for and I think things are finally coming together there. I'm pushing to finish my first comic book by the end of October, followed by a first draft of a horror movie I'm working on. More importantly, I'm loving home life. Jen and I are in a good place, the kids (although monsters at times) are amazing and I'm just really happy right now. Probably the happiest I've been in a long time... Which is really weird, considering I discovered I was suffering from depression not to long ago. I'm lucky enough to know what the cause of that is and, because I've kind of owned up to it, I've been able to keep it at bay. Basically life is good. Keep an eye out on thatentertains.com for all the goodness were doing!

The Ramblings Are Coming Back!
Things have been up and down when it comes to my writing, but after recently admitting to some issues I’ve had and a weekend getaway with my better half, I feel refreshed. There are about 5-7 days worth of stress left for me, and I’ll likely get into all that in the coming weeks.
You see, I’ve decided to turn this blog into a weekly thing that will likely consist of just personal things going on in my life that I’m willing to share. Or, just things effecting me. Or things I’m passionate about. Much like this paragraph, I’ll be rambling!
This week’s post is nothing really; just a simple “HEY, HERE’S MY PLAN!” Next week, well next week is going to be a revisit to a past post I have written on here. I have a feeling I’ll have a touch of sadness while writing it and then going through my remembrance.
After that, we’ll see where the wind will blow this ship... no tight guidelines to follow on this blog... just a weekly dose of Kev and my inner thoughts / ramblings.
Get you’re coffee (or beverage of choice) ready.

Busting Makes Me Feel Good
Tumblr media
I've had two public conversations about the recent announcement of the new Ghostbusters cast. Both with friends who are super into the franchise (one even has a trap tattoo). I'd call myself a casual fan of the series and had my own thoughts on the news; but was obviously interested in what the super fans thought.
I was very shocked that they were 100% for it. Not in a bad way, just wasn't expecting for both of them to be all for it. They both made valid arguments as to why and I totally respect their opinions.
As the casual fan of Ghostbusters, I'm proceeding with heavy caution. I feel that casting an all female cast is purely a stunt, just to be different than the original. It's a gimmick, one that may work, but a gimmick none-the-less. I'd rather see them cast the movie with four actors who are perfect for the roles.
Obviously, this wouldn't be a conversation if Ghostbusters never existed, as there would be nothing to compare it to. And, I am all for empowering women in film, but gimmick casting does the complete opposite of that. It's silly to cast that way. It's hard to argue that this all isn't a gimmick-- all female cast with a writer/director who is known for the all female cast comedy movie? It's a gimmick.
The only real issue I have is the rumor that Bill Murray may be considered for a role other than Peter Venkman. I'm all for including the remaining living members of the original cast, but if you're going to do it; why not see if they'll cameo as the roles they made famous. If Paul Feig is as a good of a writer/director that I think he is; then he can easily handle that task (assuming everyone agreed to do it).
At the end of the day, I want a good film. If these four were the best choices (because, let's be honest, a Ghostbusters movie could be written with any combination of sex / race for the characters), then great; I'm on board. I already know that Wiig and McCarthy will knock it out of the park, so we're halfway there! If original cast members make a cameo, hopefully it's done in an intelligent, fun way.
In other news, Crude Humor Studios and family should return to normal posting schedules next week! Here's a (blurred) screen shot of my digital sticky notes that need to be done for the week/month:

Oh... hey there
NerdyKev.com (aka Tumblr)... how I've mistreated you this year.
At one point, I was planning on doing a daily post, while drinking some coffee; however, that was ill-fated... even the planned weekly version of that blog never took off. Poor site turned into a "repost" haven for all the Crude Humor Studios stuff that was getting posted (which we will bring back in 2015; the posts for Crude Humor Studios... not "Repost Haven").
The problem with generating material for various brands is where to put it and how to present it. That's where I start to fail and being to get in my slump of not generating material for those brands. I think I've come up with a game plan and come 2015 we'll put that plan in place. But, where does that leave the ol' NerdyKev.com?
ORIGINALLY, we're talking the days of the Academic Nerds podcast (with my good buddy ilookedatthetrap, who know has a super awesome show (check out I Like 2 Movie Movie on iTunes)), it was supposed to be a companion site to said podcast. But, when Garrett and I stopped doing our podcast, that kind of trailed off.
Moving forward, the plan for THIS site is to do exactly what the subtitle has always said it was... "Ramblings from the mind behind..." Whenever I have something to say, it'll be here. Sometimes it'll be a blog, like this. Other times, it'll be a Cup O' Kev post, where I post nerdy things I've found online.
I've been writing more the last few weeks, thanks to madmichaeldeangelo and the world of Tellest; so I'll likely be writing about some behind the scenes stuff with writing and such.
I'm almost done writing the first season to a web series I'm developing to start airing in February or March of 2015, so there will also be behind the scenes for that as well. Basically... I hope to not make this site / Tumblr just a place to plug various things... it'll be a more "behind the scenes" of Kev.

Orrrrr... Who really cares? It's a game. I don't get on the case of kids today for not understanding my love of 8-bit games. For ME, this game is a Zelda and Dynasty Warriors mash up. I've never played any of these other games. Just a few of the Dynasty Warriors game. My buddy reviewed the new Zelda game, and I reposted with the tags that make sense to ME. I don't get on anyone's shit for misquoting things from my fandom, so don't give me shit. If this game is a mash up of a different game for you; then reblog with that tag.
Please do not tag Hyrule Warriors as Dynasty Warriors. A more appropriate tag is Koei Warriors. Thanks!
Thank you for your concern… however, I disagree:
“Hyrule Warriors mixes the hack-and-slash gameplay of Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors series of video games with the settings and characters from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series.”
