my “roman empire” is that leo and calypso could understand each other so well, and be such good figures in each other’s lives but they’re so alike in ways that made them form a romantic relationship instead of a platonic one. and they’re trapping/harming each other in this relationship instead of helping each other grow out of needing one. they could have been one of the most heart warming stories of heroes of olympus where two hopeless romantics help each other figure out that they don’t need romantic relationships to be happy and the two people who wanted love the most ends up getting a different version than they expected and starting their journey to self love in an unexpected way. but we got two confused individuals in a relationship they shouldn’t be in, arguably one of the most tragic ships in the CHB chronicles imo
