Witches and poisonous herbs (Part 6) - Elder (genus Sambucus)
Although the flowers and cooked berries (pulp and skin) are edible, the uncooked berries and other parts of plants from the genus Sambucus are poisonous. Elder has a myriad medicinal uses from cough syrup to insect repellent, but one little-known folklore connection is that dried elder leaves were used in place of tobacco and were said to be preferred because of their relaxing properties; however botanist and physician William Withering reported in 1776 that the plant “should be avoided, and not slept under or near, due to its narcotic smell”. Perhaps the elder’s most famous folklore connection comes from the Rollright Stones in Oxfordshire where it was traditional on midsummer eve to gather around the King Stone and cut the elder flowers (‘bleed the elder’).

Witches and poisonous us herbs (Part 5) - Black Henbane (Hyoscyamus niger)
One of the ingredients used in anesthesia by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, Henbane’s leaves are a source of hyoscyamine, atropine, hyoscine, and scopolamine, chemicals that act on the central nervous system. In the Middle Ages, the plant was associated with witchcraft, as it was one of the ingredients used to make flying ointment. Henbane is not to be trifled with—it can cause death due to respiratory and heart failure if ingested.

Witches and poisonous herbs (Part 4) - Poppy (Papaver somniferum)
In Greek mythology, Demeter was worshipped as the goddess of agriculture, the seasons, and the harvest, and she instructed mortals in how to cultivate wheat and barley. The well-known story of Demeter and her daughter Persephone entails the abduction of Persephone by Hades, the Greek god of the Underworld. Demeter was given the poppy plant by the god Morpheus to ease her grief and suffering. Demeter and her daughter Persephone were also at the center of an ancient cult known as the Eleusinian Mysteries.Followers believed the two goddesses possessed medical knowledge and skills for treating illnesses of women and children.

Types of divination: 7. Pyromancy
Tumblr media
Pyromancy or pyroscopy is the art of divination by means of fire. The diviner observes flames, from a sacrificial fire, a candle, or another source of flame, and interprets the shapes that he or she sees within them. Pyromancy was one of the earlier forms of divination.
Fire was considered to be the most spiritual of the elements, not only because of its light giving quality, but because the use of fire is one of the things which most markedly distinguishes man from the beasts. Dancing around a ritual bonfire may well be mans most primitive ceremony. Seeing pictures in the fire was one of his earliest sources of clairvoyant vision, when the tribal groups huddled together in the darkness of the caves.
Candlemancy is divination using a candle.
If the flame waves, hisses, shrinks, spins, widdershins, or left to right like I'm shaking my head no, or goes out it means no to your question. These are negative responses.
If the flame grows tall, stays calm, moves back and forward like I'm nodding yes or spins desolate, it means yes to your question.

Witches and poisonous herbs (Part 3) - Aconite, Monkshood (Aconitum nepellus)
In Greek mythology, Aconite was associated with the goddess Hekate and was formed from the caustic saliva of the three headed monster dog, Cerberus, who guarded the gates of hell. It was listed as one of the ingredients in witches’ flying ointments, but due to its lethal toxicity, this application is in question. It is one of the most poisonous plants from the Old World and was used to poison wolves, as well as human foes.

Types of divination: 6. Oneiromancy
Tumblr media
Oneiromancy is divination that is based upon dreams. Dream interpretation uses dreams to predict the future. To interpret the meaning of the dream there are seven steps. These are:
1. What stage of the night did the dream occur? If the dream occurred early in the sleep cycle the dream was probably a Wishful Thinking dream. This means that the mind is simply sorting through data. If it is in the middle of the sleep cycle it is probably a Precognitive dream. The mind is organizing and putting pictured together. May have some use in understanding, but it does not necessarily mean that the picture is accurate. If the dream occurred toward the end of the sleep cycle it is probably a Venting dream. These are very important in dream analysis. It shows what you no longer need because you are getting rid of it. That means that you are working and making progress in that area.
2. Is the dream psychological or physiological? By this, we mean is the content of your dream coming from inside your mind or from something you are experiencing while you sleep. Examples of dreaming of something while you are experiencing it are incorporating sounds from your TV while you are in a sleep state, or incorporating a phone ringing when you are dreaming. This is called stimulus incorporation dreams, and this is a physiological experience. If it is a physiological dream, you can disregard the dream.
3. What time indicator of the dream? In the dream, what stage of your life were you in? Was it a dream about childhood? Or as an adult? Or, maybe, was it set in the future? When you vent out things you don't need anymore you re-experience it. This mental image may be one that you have worked on for a long time, and it may have elements from different points in your life. The dream will reflect those points in your life that you markedly changed your mental image. You can actually look at your progress in this belief by studying this.
4. What is the content of the dream? Is it literal or symbolic? The easiest way to determine this is to get a piece of paper and draw a line dividing it in half. On one side, list all of the literal things in the dream. On the other side, list all the symbolic things. For example, let's say that you have a dream about your mother, but she is a witch. She is green, with a wart on her nose and flying around on a broom. So, you take every element of this. Do you have a mother? Yes (literal). Is she a witch? No (symbolic). Is she green? No (symbolic). Does she have a wart on her nose? Yes (literal). Does she fly on a broom? No (symbolic). Continue in as much detail as possible. Write all of the literal things on one side and all the symbolic things on the other. The literal things are given. We would know that this dream is about your mother and that she has a wart on her nose. Now, we must figure out what the symbolic parts mean. Then, you need to figure out what the symbols mean. So, you have to ask, because a symbol may mean one thing to one person, but something different to someone else. You have to find out how the dreamer relates to the symbols.
5. What emotions do the symbols invoke in the dreamer? How does it make you feel? Figure out what the symbols mean to the dreamer, and how they relate to them. Then you can give a preliminary interpretation of the dream. Basically, tell the dream back to the dreamer, but with the meaning of the symbolism included. This is to help translate the dream for the dreamer so that the dreamer, not the interpreter, can realize the meaning of it.
6. What are you venting out? If you have a particularly negative dream it is good. It means that you are venting out things you do not need anymore. This tells you what you have worked through and that you are moving on from it to new things.
7. Finally, after you have retold the dream and you, or the dreamer, understand the symbolism, ask What have you experienced recently that triggered the dream? This can produce a Gestalt moment that will help the dreamer relate to and understand the dream.

Types of divination: 5. Numerology
Tumblr media
Numerology is divination through numbers. The personality of an individual as well as future events can be determined using the numerical interpretation of numbers, dates, and the number value of letters.
Some consider numerology to be the easiest occult study as all you need is a person's full birth name and birth date.Numerology is the study of numbers relating to the universe.
Pythagoras reduced the universal numbers to 9 primary numbers. These numbers are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Therefore any number, no matter how high can be reduced to a single digit. Each number has specific occult values and is associated with one of the 9 planets. Each number also has specific characteristics and expressions.
Finding your Lifepath number (birth number):
A person can find their lifepath number by adding the numbers of their birth date. For example, I was born 2000-06-13, so I will say 2+0+0+0+0+6+1+3 = 12
Then I will say 1+2 = 3, so my lifepath number is 3. ( This step can be done repeatedly until a single digit number is reached.) The purpose is to bring down the number to a single digit by adding the digits together.
Simple Interpretation of lifepath number

Types of divination: 4. Crystallomancy
Tumblr media
Crystallomancy or Crystal Gazing is divination by using crystals or other reflecting objects Crystal gazing is a form of divination or scrying achieved through trance induction by means of gazing at a crystal or other reflecting object. Also known as crystallomancy, gastromancy, spheromancy and a form of Scrying.
Scrying is an ancient form of divination, used to see parts of the past, present, or future and can be used to communicate with spiritual entities among other things. There are many ways to scry, some of these ways are crystal ball scrying, scrying with a mirror, cloud scrying, fire scrying, and pond/lake scrying.
Scrying isn't only a method to look into the future or past (to some extention) it is also a great way to conect to the spirit realm, and the safest. When you scry, the crystal (or whatever you are using as a scrying tool) is the doorway to the spiritual realm. One of the most important things you need to know, is that if you want best results, you let your spirit guide do it for you, all you have to do is open the gateway. Your spirit guide has the power to contain negative energy on the other side and the bad spirits as well. He/she will only show you what you want to see and need to see.
