Round One - Pyromancy 2/4

Roy:

He is also called the Flame Alchemist and fire is his big thing. While he can do other alchemy as well I only remember him doing that once and it pales in comparison to his fire. He technically doesn’t manipulate fire directly, but rather the air, however, he seems to exclusively use this to turn the air flammable and set things (and people) on fire. It is the only way we ever see him use that power. Frankly, I think that makes him much more of a pyromancer than an aeromancer. After all, he is called the Flame Alchemist, not the Air Alchemist and reliant on fire to the point where he is callled useless on rainy days. Now onto the fire itself (Warning, some spoilers for Fullmetal Alchemist, particularly Brotherhood and the manga) Mustang has a ludicrous amount of power and a terrifying level of control. He is capable of setting a regenerating monster on fire until it is unable to regenerate anymore and actually dies. And he doesn’t do this just once, but twice. Additionally, he has incredible tight control over his fire, to the point where he can literally burn someones tongue out or make their eyeballs boil. Mustangs fire is terrifying and as long as he has a circle to manipulate the air and something to create a spark with he is perhaps THE most dangerous alchemist, only rivaled by those using philosophers stones to enhance their alchemy. Even flooding a room with water won’t stop him, as he simply turns the water into hydrogen gas and then throws a spark in to turn everything in that room into a charred smear on the ground. This doesn’t work with rain, but regular water? Doom. Fire is Mustangs signature move and he is, fortunately, the only one who knows how to do it. So, vote for the Guy who incinerates immortal monsters with a snap of his fingers.

PYROMANCY AND HOW IT WORKS FOR ME

Now, i don't claim to be an expert pyromancer, and i definitely dont know any asvanced skills with it, but this is how i use pyromancy in my craft.

- first i light my chosen candle

-> can be any real candle, yes even a scented candle, yes even a tea light candle

- then, once its properly lit (i usually light it and wait a couple minutes) i ask the flame if there are any entities present

-> I work with more than just deities, so i ask for entities. An entity is any being ("good or bad") thst is currently in your working space

- if the flame becomes higher or cackles or makes any sort of big movement/change, i take it as a yes

-> if theres little/no movement, i take it as a no

-> -> its totally ok. If you dont have any entities around you at the moment, they may come in later or may just be shy. Or maybe there's no one around, that isn't your fault. Think of it as a scheduling conflict

- after that, i like to ask if theres multiple entities (same rules apply) (i usually only ask yes or no questions but theres other types of answers for more skilled puromancers, i just dont know/use them)

-> if you want, you can ask if the entiry is a deity, and if it is, you can go down a list of deities you work with to figure out whos there

-> -> usually, you can figure it out by the way the flame dances, idk i just get a feeling i know who it is, but this might be a more advanced skill so i recommend asking

-> -> -> also, if you want to stidy the flame and the way it moves, write it down, and then compare it to the way other deities more the flame, that can help you figure out who is there faster

- usually after this, i just leave the candle alone. I talk to it about my day and other random things.

-> keep in mind some deities might be really involved and move the flame alot, while others are naturally more quiet and harder to spot

-a couple times during my session (esp if its a longer one) i ask if theres an entity there, because sometimes theres a different entity, or multiple at the same time, and i like to be aware of them,

- when its time to turn off the candle, i say a thank you to whoever was there, and if there were entities that didnt manifest with the candle, i thank them too and i tell them theyre more than welcome to use the flame.

-> to turn off the flame, theres many different ways to do it, i just blow it out, (theres a misconception that Deities get angry if you blow put the flame, thats not true they dont care)

One thing about Life is Strange is that while many like myself love the game, if it weren’t for it’s shitty writing and shitty focus, it could’ve have been considered an ALL TIME classic (to the straights). And I may be a bitch for saying all this but I wish the games were more clear about what kind of direction they were going for with the supernatural elements. Instead of them being just there..

Starting with this feral ass lesbian, Rachel Amber.

Now when the first game came out, people were already suspecting the possibility of Rachel having time powers. Like Max, she could’ve won people over by traveling in the past to “Get the right answer.” And her death was just her being at the wrong place at a wrong time. But then Before The Storm happen, and literally by the end of episode one, we see a wild Rachel at her natural habitat burning trees down with the power of a screaming banshee. So obviously new theories came up that Rachel was really some sort of pyromancer set out to master all four elements and bring balance to the world. (Yes know I’m not funny, I’m sorry.. ) Except what the fuck was happening at that park was never brought up, like at all. It was only “Rachel Amber committed arson,” and not “HOW Rachel Amber commuted arson.” Not even her own girlfriend brought it up, just a “What the hell were you thinking!?!”

Her having powers wouldn’t have fit into the overall story at all, I understand this. BUT THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I’M BITCHING MY ASS OFF ABOUT. Why the hell was that even a thing to begin with. What was up with William telling Chloe “Sweetie, your girlfriends a maniac, and you might get hurt by her in the process” only for that to just be good ole fatherly advice when David was RIGHT THERE! And the fact that one of the songs in the soundtrack’s title was “Witches”????

I could make several posts on how I think the story on how the story could’ve gone to fit both Max’s powers and the fire scene fit better. But all I’m gonna say is I would’ve loved to see firebending!Rachel in action. Just saying.

How it ties to her as a person, trauma, and how Sera with that smirk comes to play( which would mean retconning Sera and the whole ass game in it’s entirety.)

Kai:

Kai is the Elemental Master of Fire, or just “Master of Fire” for short. He grew up as a blacksmith after his parents VANISHED when he was 5 (they got kidnapped) leaving him to take care of his 3 year old sister alone. He can summon a fire dragon, make fireballs, control existing fires (somewhat?) and above all else- Get his powers stolen every 5 minutes which he constantly complains about because like. His fire powers. Why do people keep taking his fire powers he NEEDS those- He is the ultimate older brother (he has two siblings one of which he just kidnapped from off the street) and also re-forged magic weapons created by a god with his powers because he’s cool like that.
