Talia has no idea how true this is - literally xD By the way, I love Devin's innocent face and how professionally he is able to disguise his wild thoughts and murderous intentions.

When my editor and I were working on this chapter, we smiled a lot at how many ambiguous/erotic terms are used (especially in the Hungarian version), even though nothing like that happens in the chapter, and the second half is especially depressing. I'm a fan of contrasts - I think they express Talia's mentality ^^

“I'm falling. Into the dark, icy depths of horror.” ~ Chapter 14. (Could you love a killer?)

The moment when Devin realises that there might be similarities between siblings - so he will never look at Talia the same way as before. For him, it is a very traumatic experience, after all, he has grown up under the 'tutelage' of a ruthless dragon in another world and knows nothing about family relationships.

I love to traumatize my supernatural beings with banal things that are quite ordinary to humans. For me it's fascinating to think about how many things can cause shock to different characters, depending on their personalities, species and backstories.

Devin - illustration for my novel (Could you love a killer?) ^^

“Best friend, huh?” He looks down at me with an all-knowing gaze when Mandy's out of earshot.

“Yeah, since first grade in high school. She needs someone to help her out when she's in the mood to pick up nerds, and I don't have anyone else for the "best friend" position.”

“My condolences.”

What has got into me? Usually I don't dare to say a word in the presence of boys, and then this strange man comes along and banishes all my anxiety to the past with a single handshake.

A dark shadow is cast over me. I don't know anything about him. Where did he get all that money? Inheritance, or some illegal job? What is he really doing here? What does he want from me? From me and not from Mandy?

I personally love this scene (despite the fact that there's nothing extraordinary about it xD ). Perhaps because it was the first one I dreamed about (literally), and that inspired the whole story. Although it has gone through many rewrites over the years, it has been in all my previous manuscripts in some way. ^^
