studied for over 2 hrs today and also did some work preparation. i think i actually got kinda burnt out from the study session lollll. it's been a long summer, and i haven't readjusted to studying yet.

happy october, and 1 week of consecutive productivity!! i went to bed a bit late last night, so i slept in until around 11 am. i started my day with lunch and house chores. i actually got quite a lot of chores done, so i didn't start working on schoolwork until the evening. i caught up with my daily assignments and finished the second quiz of this quarter. i'm actually pretty bummed that i didn't get a great score for this quiz. there was one problem worth 7 points that i still can't figure out ! i'll definitely spend more time during the week to do more practice problems

monday 🌷 march 18, 2024
💭 headstart, feeling accomplished, making the most of my day
my calc professor uploaded some materials for the first chapter so i started working ahead !! the quarter doesn't start until april but i'm determined to do a lot more than the bare minimum this quarter 🫡! i just received my grade for my previous math class and while it meets the grade requirement for my upcoming calc class, i definitely could have earned a much better grade if i had put in more effort.
on another note, i have been struggling with sleep recently. every night, i stay up late so that i can get some work done and it has caused me to sleep in until almost noon. i realized that this pattern is due to me not feeling accomplished during the day. if i wake up late, i spend the remaining day time just scrolling on my phone or playing games. i decided that i'll be more conscious of my daily goals by writing them down in my notebook and checking them off as i finish!

1/100 days of productivity 🐣 9/25/23
hello! it has been a few days since i last updated. i was able to keep up the challenge for 2 weeks, but unfortunately, i hit a slump during the weekend.
i'm not sure if i worked myself into burning out or something, but at the start of the weekend, i was having trouble initiating my daily routine. i slept in, didn't commit to my tasks, and spent the days entertaining myself with distractions.
it only hit me that i hit that slump when i was rushing to turn in a quiz 20 minutes before midnight on sunday. i couldn't finish most of it on time, so i earned a really low score. this actually made me cry for a bit, but after that realization, i started reflecting on how i can get back on track.
which brings me to today. i spent most of the day at work and in class. i finished some past due assignments in between schedules so that i can catch up in class. then, when i got home, i tried my best to focus on the tasks that i missed out on during the weekend. i got plenty of chores done and continued with my evening routine per usual!
this is a longer post than my usual ones. i just want to share my reflections from this experience. this is not the first time i hit a slump after a streak of productivity, but i am proud of myself for quickly taking steps to get back on track. hopefully, i'll be back into my normal routines soon!
something that i try to remind myself often is that progress is not linear. i'll be taking this experience as a lesson for the future rather than resenting myself for a mistake. the most important things are acknowledging my mistakes and having the willpower to do better! i'll be restarting this challenge from the beginning, but i will not forget the progress that i've made so far.

I PASSED THE KNOWLEDGE TEST!!! i have my learner's permit now! i was so nervous the entire day. i went to work and class and did some last-minute cramming. i was so sure that i was gonna fail, but i passed it!! i feel like a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
next step is driving practice until I feel ready for the skills test

17/100 days of productivity 🐣 10/11/23
it was a reaaally productive day, but i missed the most important schedule; my class 🙃 i went to work in the morning then planned to go to class, but decided not to go so i can work on the stuff i missed from last week. it seems really counterproductive, but i actually got a lot of work done! i completed 4 of my online assignments today while i was on campus. i also cleaned up my space when i got home because my room and desk have been really messy since last week. now i've got a clean space and close to being completely caught up! i just have to watch the lecture recording from today then i will be up to date.

lessons learned ☕ winter 2024

i have completed the winter quarter!! yay!! i want to reflect on some lessons that i learned during the winter quarter.
🍞 do!! not!! procrastinate!! — i say this to myself every quarter, but this time, i am properly addressing it so that i can avoid procrastination in the next quarter. i had a bad habit of putting my assignments off at the last minute, or turn them in late if late work is accepted. i used to be impressed by my ability to finish a written assignment 30 minutes before the due time, but now i realize that the rush is just not worth it! i want to create work with quality that i can be proud of. better time management and self-discipline will make my next quarter much less stressful.
🍞learn to adapt — different subjects require different methods of learning. what works for one subject, does not always work for others. don't waste time "studying" if your study methods are not actually effective!! figure out which strategies result in better outcomes and focus on that.
🍞communicate with professors — this is especially important if i am taking online classes. one of my main struggles since starting college was not connecting with my professors. the lack of communication makes it so much more difficult to eventually reach out when i need help. go to office hours!! they have it available for students for a reason. advocate for yourself!!
🍞take advantage of resources provided by your school — my school offers free tutoring for students. i haven't visited the tutoring center because i wasn't sure how to ask for help. but i expect that i will need a lot of help next quarter to keep up with the learning material. i will make use of the tutoring services next quarter!
🍞remove distractions — i did a phone detox for a weekend and found that it was the most productive i have been in a long time! i will make an effort to be more conscious of my phone usage. having the discipline to actually turn off my phone and put it in a different room to avoid the temptation of checking my notifications.
🍞sleep! — i'm guilty of revenge bedtime procrastination! sacrificing my sleep for leisure time is not worth the tiredness i feel the next day. again, better time management will lead to more healthy habits.
🍞make time for friends — i learned that i shouldn't isolate myself for too long. studying can get lonely, especially during exam season when i get caught up in studying for long periods. i will try to schedule some time to socialize! it doesn't have to be a long schedule: it can be a quick coffee or lunch for good measure. having some positive interactions helps get me through the stress of school!
i'll be working harder next quarter to make sure that i don't continue having these issues! good luck to everyone taking finals!! 💌

10/100 days of productivity 🐣 9/18/23
the first day of class was a success! i worked for 2.5 hours in the morning and then went to class, where i met an old friend. i got a bit sidetracked after class, so i ended up chatting with my friends for a while instead of doing my homework when i intended to. i still got all of my homework done by the evening, but tomorrow, i will try to stay on schedule so i can be more productive!

🍞 lately ...
recently, i've been trying to avoid digitally keeping track of my productivity. it's quite a difficult thing for me to tackle, as i've been heavily relying on my devices for pretty much everything! gradually, i will be moving more towards non-digital methods, such as traditional journals and planners.
the most distracting thing that i am aiming to tackle is my reliance on my phone. my screentime has been crazy and i'm not proud of it, considering that most of that time was social media. due to this, i am going to start using my phone as a tool; to transform its purpose from just being a distraction to being used to make productivity an easier process. it will be a difficult transition, so i don't expect myself to achieve this goal overnight. instead, i will take specific steps towards this goal. as of lately, i've been deleting instagram when i find myself getting looped up in the algorithm. i am aiming to get to a point where i can delete the app and only download it once a day to check any messages, then delete it again. i still use it for communication with friends and family, so i don't see myself deleting it permanently any time soon.
in general, i've also just been trying to avoid digital methods of productivity! it's not as big of a priority as avoiding my phone, but so far, i think i'm doing well! i have learned that if you write your goals down on paper, you will feel more inclined to work towards it, so i've been using my planner and journal recently! i used to use todomate for my daily todos, but i found that i am more successful when i actually write my tasks down on paper. i still use notion and google sheets on my laptop, but not as much as i used to. setting my goals on notion didn't help me much since i would rarely ever read them again. so now, i use notion as a kind of a database (?) for my ideas. i might explain more about it in a future post! as for google sheets, i've been using it to make trackers for myself. for example, i used to use yeolpumta to keep track of my study time but i eventually found it to be inconvenient because of how frequently i would have to unlock my phone to start and stop the timer. now, i just keep track of how many pomodoro sessions i complete, then record it on my google sheet tracker at the end of the day. this way, i am able to put my phone out of sight and out of mind!
lastly, i have been using google calendar for time blocking. but i have realized that i often don't commit to my schedule, so i am wondering if time blocking in my planner might be better. i might try it out soon! i want to make a big post before the start of the next quarter about some productivity tips, so i'll be testing different methods and report on what works for me!
