#Food is fuel

yes, food is fuel. but it is also for pleasure. it is also enjoyable. it is also emotional, personal, intimate. food is fuel, yes, but that does not make you a machine. you are allowed to eat something just because you want it, just because it sounds good, regardless of the nutritional properties. food is a shared human experience bridging across our entire existence. to reduce it to something as simplistic as fuel denies us the emotional connection that food contains. food is fuel, yes, but it is also so much more than that.

Famous people like Gwenyth Paltrow sharing that she only drinks bone broth for food or whatever and trying to pass it off as health really isn't anything new, but the brain rot of people who really think what she's doing is healthy because she's avoiding "microplastics" as a result of starving her body is pretty alarming. Like, critical thinking is really dead for these people. Everything, even just bone broth, contains trace amounts of something that's not good for your body in large amounts. Even beyond food...the air is bad in most places. The sun can cause skin cancer. Are you all just going to...decide not to enjoy life???

I made this recipe up and I’m proud of myself
Orange spice cake
* 1 cup flour
* 2/3 tsp baking powder
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 2 tsp ground ginger
* 1 tsp cinnamon
* zest of two oranges
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1/4 cup oil
* Juice of two small orange or one large
* 1 tsp vanilla
* 1 egg
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 176 degrees Celsius (if you aren’t an American)
Mix the dry ingredients together with a whisk then add the wet ingredients
Grease an 8x8 square cake pan and add batter put into preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes
It’s not too terribly sweet so you can add a glaze
Glaze recipe:
* 1 cup powdered sugar
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 1 tbsp milk
Whisk the ingredients together and add to cooled cake (or glaze it while it’s hot if you’re impatient like me)

✨❤️✨ It's better to eat any food at all than the "right" food or the "best" food for your situation. No food is no sustenance. ✨❤️✨

i've been having so much fun experiencing with food lately. i love tasting new flavours now and trying out food that i never was interested in before. it is so powerful when you finally get to that place where you no longer feel food is your enemy. it is worth fighting for. ❤️
