Of course they did exactly what I said they would. They're in too deep to stop now. They need to keep justifying to themselves why it's "okay" for them to attack us, otherwise people there might start catching on to the fact that what they've been doing is abhorrent.

Anyway, a bit anecdotal but it's definitely not just "one or two" people doing this to Edelgard either. Let's just set aside for the moment the "better than canon" fanfic they always rec which spends the bulk of it's text treating Edelgard like a sad little girl with no agency. Let's talk about the most ridiculous example I've encountered of Edelgard stans completely refusing to acknowledge her agency.

I have had some really intense arguments with Edelgard stans insisting that she never set Bernadetta on fire. When I could prove with actual, literal, video evidence that she does set Bernie on fire, I was told that it was a programming mistake/glitch/bug because Edelgard would never.

Like holy shit. When you're to the point of accusing the programmers of making a mistake because you, the end consumer who did not work on this game in any capacity, can't reconcile your reading of the character with things that canonically happened... I don't know what you want me to say.

I also didn't include this screenshot because it wasn't really relevant to the point I was trying to make, but a few replies down turns into a full blown r/SelfAwareWolves moment. You're so close. The reason why so many of us don't like Edelgard has nothing to do with misogyny or queerphobia or whatever. It's because we looked at the decisions she made, acknowledged that she made those decisions with full agency, and we think those decsions were wrong. I think starting a war of conquest is wrong. I think trampling the sovereignty of two independent states is wrong. I think continuing to work with people who perform human experimentation is wrong. I think benefitting from the genocide of a race is wrong. I have seen no convincing argument from your side on why I should change my mind.

Fuck me man, all three of those arguments have their own agency stripping counterarguments that I've been hearing since 2019. Literally everything from "defensive invasion, she knew Claude and Dimitri were going to invade her so she had to attack them first!" to "Fodlan was never REALLY three independent countries so she didn't REALLY decide to trample on their sovereignty!" to "she had to because she had a gun held to her head and the Agarthans forced her!!!" to the classic "um, she was like 9 when that happened" (She was not 9).

Do y'all not see how ALL of that completely strips her of the agency you keep insisting she's so feminist for exhibiting, and why some of us might think that's super lame?

Although I've posted this art already on twitter, I didn't really bother adding a caption. So here, I'll add it because why not.

Under this, is my thought process and inspiration why I drew this:

I rewatched a bit of the OG season 1 of BBB, Taufan's first appearance is still my favourite. (haha no bias here, what are you on about.) it blew the wind out of me (pun intended) to realize that Angin was basically getting high to turn into Taufan. I- huh, hm..

Watching childhood shows you've watched a kid and watching them now that you're older is such a whiplash. Especially when you realize the rather "adult context" behind some scenes.

Back to the topic, I noticed how Taufan's design from OG S1 to BBBM1 was actually rather dark in color? The blue was less brighter and blended much more naturally with Gempa and Halilintar's darker color pattern. It was actually pretty neat! The OG Trio having similar dark color patterns. Nowadays, if you put the three together, Taufan is obviously bright, like very bright. Taufan's Blue/White with Gempa's Black/Yellow and Halilintar's Black/Red? Taufan almost looks out of place (Angst potential, maybe?)

Of course I noticed the long sleeved hoodie instead of the stormbreaker jacket that Taufan now. I do like the stormbreaker jacket and short sleeves more since it gives him the look of being free and carefree. Who wouldn't like feeling the wind on your skin? Especially if you're surfing through the wind!

Trivial details: the shoes, the watch, and the dino cap. I don't know why, but I miss the tiny tooth of the dino cap from before. It was cute.

Also, interesting note: Taufan's personality in the beginning was rather cocky and smug, I love it. It's so different from the usual happy boi, haha.

So! TDLR: I drew two Taufan, one of the older design (OG S1 to BBBM1) and the other of the recent design (BBBGLXS1 to BBBGLXS2) to compare the differences!

I do hope I was able to show the difference of the younger and teen version of Taufan. For example the face of kid Taufan having more baby fat cheeks, shorter, and smiley. While the teen Taufan having more sharper (kinda) facial features, taller, and much more happier in the sense of cheerfulness (UwU energy maybe?)

Oh and the difference shades of the blue too! The dark blue on Kid Taufan and the normal shade of blue on Teen Taufan! It could be a little less obvious due to the background..

Oh, and I added the blue butterflies to see if Taufan stans are still traumatised lmao.

“Are you guys coming to set today?” Sebastian asked, pressing a kiss to my head. 

“I’ll see if Andy wants to,” I mumbled with a yawn. My husband’s call time was six AM, which was so much earlier than I ever wanted to be awake, so he usually woke me up with a goodbye kiss. “I think we can manage it, though.” 

“Ah, well,” Sebastian shrugged. “He’s barely a year old. I think he’ll like it.” 

“But he’s also your son,” I countered. 

“What does that mean?” Sebastian asked. Even in the dark of the room, I could see the happy glint in his blue eyes. 

“He’s stubborn,” I said. “Won’t do anything if he doesn’t want to.” 

“That’s not a ‘me’ thing,” Sebastian told me. “That’s a Romanian thing. We’re stubborn people.” 

“Regardless,” I sighed. “I think he might be scared of the costume. The mask and the arm and all; it might be a bit much.” 

“He’ll be able to tell it’s me,” Sebastian said. “Kids are like dogs, they can recognize people by smell. Right?” 

“Maybe your smell,” I chuckled, my throat dry from the night of sleep. “Mr. Bucket-Of-KY-Jelly.” 

“That was uncalled for,” Sebastian chuckled. He leaned over the bed, bracing his left hand next to me head, and I turned to fully look at him. “I smell great.” 

“When you shower, you do,” I said, scrunching my nose, and Sebastian laughed deep in his chest. He leaned down and brushed his lips against mine, giving me the gentlest of kisses. Sebastian wasn’t usually a gentle creature-- his kisses usually left me with bruised and puffy lips or marks littering my neck and breasts-- but, in the morning, he was so soft and sweet. 

“We’ll continue this later,” Sebastian said. His long hair fell into his face, and I tenderly pushed it behind his ear. Adjusting to the new everything that Seb required for this film was an experience; the long hair, the stubble, and the weight training was grueling for all three of us, especially little Andrei. He missed his daddy dearly, but Sebastian always made up for lost time with nightly tummy-time and stories. Andrei James Stan had loved his dad since before he was born-- the little bastard always kicked up a storm when Sebastian rubbed my belly or talked to me-- and, when he was gone filming something for a long time, Andy got a little upset and overly clingy. Call it separation anxiety or just plain missing his daddy, but Sebastian always made it up to Andy with a special Daddy/Andy night (which also gave me the opportunity to be by myself for a while). 

“I hope not too much later,” I whispered, pulling him down to kiss me again. “I miss you, Seb.” 

“I know, baby,” Sebastian whispered as he pressed his forehead to mine. “I miss you too. Maybe we can get a babysitter or something on Sunday.”

“Great idea,” I said. “Now, you gotta go or you’ll be late.” 

“Ugh,” Sebastian groaned. 

“Go!” I giggled. “My big super-soldier. You gotta show everyone what you’re made of.” 

Just as I spoke, from across the room, Andy made a squealing noise in his crib. The trailer we were living in while Sebastian shot Winter Soldier was a bit small, but it worked perfectly. “Oh, really?” Sebastian said, turning his head to look at Andy. “And what do you think I’m made of, mister?” 

Sebastian moved to his crib as I turned on the lamp, and I watched Sebastian, all muscles and beard and long hair, reach into the crib and pull his infant son into his arms. Andy was born premature, so he was still pretty small, and it made my heart melt. His fluffy hair was in-between a blond and a brown, sorta like how Sebastian’s hair was when he was little, and he had the most beautiful blue eyes. “Really?” Sebastian playfully grimaced, nuzzling his nose against Andy’s. “I think you’re made of yogurt and farts, young man.” 

“Seb!” I snorted. “Don’t say that to him!”

“He is, though!” Sebastian laughed, Andy’s little fist tightening around a lock of his hair. “I don’t see you denying it.” 

“Don’t say our son’s made of farts,” I protested, getting out of bed. “He’s made of wonderful things, like love and kindness--” 

“And yogurt,” Sebastian added. 

“And yogurt,” I acquiesced. Andy did eat a lot of yogurt. “Speaking of, is the little monster hungry? Is that why you’re up so early?” 

Andy nodded, patting his tummy, and Sebastian gave him to me. “Have a good day today, babies,” Sebastian told me, kissing my forehead, then brushing Andy’s hair back and kissing his soft head. “Just text me when you’re coming by.” 

“Sure thing.” 

“This is Sebastian’s baby?” 

Scarlet held Andy in a tender embrace, gazing at him with surprise. She was looking at him with a look of wonderment, like she couldn’t believe that Sebastian of all people could be capable of producing another human being. Nobody on the cast had properly met Andy yet, hence why Andy and I visiting set was such a big deal. “Looks just like him,” she added. 

“Acts like him too,” I chuckled. “Stubborn as hell and eats everything in sight.” 

“Damn, this really is his kid,” Scarlet laughed, and Andy thumped his head down onto her shoulder. “He’s so sweet.”

Andy smiled at Scarlet and gave a happy squeal, and Scarlet turned to face me. “Who’s that?” She asked in a gentle voice, and Andy’s smile turned to me. 

“Mama!” He exclaimed, reaching for me, and Scarlet and I laughed. 

“Smart as hell,” Scarlet added. 

“That comes from me,” I chuckled. Andy took a fistful of my shirt and started to chew on the fabric, but I was used to it. He was teething and chewed on everything; most of my shirts were a little frayed from him. 

“Mean,” said Sebastian from behind me, and I turned and gave a gasp of surprise. I hadn’t ever seen him in full costume before, and it was a shock at first. A leather vest and tight dark jeans, tactical gear everywhere, and a dark mask obscuring the bottom half of his face. And, of course, covering his left arm, a cast-like structure that looked like silver metal with a red star on his shoulder. The arm was covered in little orange dots-- I’m assuming to assist in mo-cap during editing-- and he wore a leather glove on his left hand. 

“Jesus God,” I laughed. “Scared the hell outta me. You look good, babes.” 

“I know,” Sebastian told me, and I knew that he was smirking at me under the mask. “You look beautiful too.” 

“Not really,” I said. “I’m not even wearing makeup.” 

“Still beautiful,” he said, and he reached up and tugged the mask off. He leaned down and, cradling my cheek in his gloved hand, gently kissed my lips. “And the little rascal?” 

“Mm,” I hummed, breaking the kiss. “He’s sleepy. Getting cranky and all.” 

“Has he eaten?” 

“Just did,” I told him. “Before you ask, yes, it was yogurt. But I also gave him some of those blueberry puffy crackers.” 

“Did you save any for me?” Sebastian asked, his eyebrows raising. 

“In my pocket,” I replied. Sebastian and I had quickly discovered that certain baby foods were delicious, especially the fruit-flavored puffy crackers that Andy favored, and I always ended up bringing some with me wherever I went. 

“I know that you’re not eating baby food,” Scarlet laughed as Sebastian reached into my pocket and extracted the plastic bag of star-shaped crackers. 

“They’re good as hell,” Sebastian said, popping a handful into his mouth. “Want one?” 

“I’ll pass,” Scarlet laughed. 

“Ask Mackie, I’m sure he’ll tell you the same,” Sebastian said. Then, he turned his attention back to me. “I could read him a quick story to get him down, if you want.” 

I shrugged. “If you really want to,” I said. 

“Alright, stinker,” Sebastian said, exchanging the crackers for Andy. “Did you bring a book?” 

“Shit, no,” I mumbled. 

“Shit!” 

“Oh, c’mon, man,” I sighed as Scarlet laughed. I frequently forgot that Andy was at the stage where he was repeating things that he heard, and usually Sebastian and I were good about not cussing, because Andy would repeat it for the rest of time. “Don’t expose me like this.” 

“I can come up with a story,” Sebastian said through stifled laughter. “Let’s find a place to get comfy, huh, mister? A nice chair, maybe? I bet Uncle Chris has a really nice chair we can settle in…” 

As he walked away, I felt a presence behind me. I had briefly met Chris at the First Avenger premiere a few years ago, when Sebastian and I weren’t even properly dating yet, but Sebastian and I had eloped, hence no wedding to see him at. “Hey, Evans,” I said and gave him a quick fist bump. 

“Where’re they going?” Chris asked, munching at an orange. 

“To steal your chair in the shade,” I said. “Andy’s getting sleepy and only sleeps when Seb reads him a story.” 

“Cute,” Chris said. “Ya know, Sebastian never shuts up about the two of you.”

“Really?” I asked. “Like, what does he say?”

“Just little stories,” Chris said. “Something you said, or something Andy did. Or just the quick little ‘we had this for dinner’ or ‘we watched this movie last night’. He adores you two.” 

“That’s nice,” I said softly. “I always worry if he’s getting sick of having these two lives. It must be a lot for him.” 

“I can’t read minds,” Chris said. “But I don’t think he could ever get sick of you.”

I nodded slowly. “I was diagnosed with postpartum depression after Andy was born,” I started quietly. “I was so anxious that I wasn’t sleeping, I couldn’t stop crying, I… I even thought about packing a bag and leaving and not coming back. It was so fucking hard, and I thought for sure that Sebastian would ask for a divorce or something. I guess I’m still a little worried about that. But that’s… That’s really helpful, Chris. Thanks.” 

I tried to contain my tears, but Chris must have seen through my crumbling facade, because he wrapped me in a tight hug. “You’re so strong, Y/N,” he whispered. “Know that I’m proud of you, and Scar, and Mackie, and all of us, but especially Sebastian. Man, he fucking loves you so much. There’s nothing that you could do that would make him hate you or want to divorce you. I don’t know much about your relationship, but I know that.” 

I was glad I wasn’t wearing makeup, because I knew that it would be smeared across my cheeks by now. It was one thing to hear it from Sebastian, but from an outsider like Chris, it meant the world. “Thanks,” I whispered. “That means so fucking much.” 

“And, hey, I kinda know how it goes with a baby,” Chris began. “My sisters have kids, and I’ve played babysitter plenty of times. And I’d say I’m pretty good at it. No complaints so far. So, if you ever need a babysitter to get a break for a night, I’d love to help.” 

“That would be so nice,” I sighed into his shoulder. “Not to be TMI…” I paused to let him stop me, but his hand comfortingly ran up my back. “It’s been a while since it was just… Me and Seb, ya know what I mean?”

“I do,” Chris said. “You have my number.” 

I nodded and detached myself from Chris, and I chuckled as I wiped my face dry. “I’m gonna go find my boys,” I said. “Thanks for that, man.”

“Anytime, Mrs. Stan,” Chris said with a smile. 

It wasn’t hard to find Sebastian and Andrei. They were settled in a canvas chair under a tarp shade, with Andy’s little head resting on his shoulder. He seemed like he was already out like a light. “... So Steve is like ‘Bucky?’ and Bucky looks at his friend and he says ‘Who the hell is Bucky?’, which is not that good. Because Bucky should know who Steve is, right?” 

“Are you telling him spoilers for the movie?” I asked, putting my hand on Sebastian’s shoulder. 

“It’s the only story I could come up with on the spot,” Sebastian said. “But he seems to like it… Or not like it. Does it mean he thinks it’s boring if he falls asleep during it?” 

“I think it means that he loves you,” I said. “And he finds comfort in you, even when you look like that.”

“Look like what?” Sebastian asked. When I didn’t answer and only gave him a playful smile, he said, “When I look like what, Y/N Stan?” 

“So different than usual,” I offered with a shrug, and Sebastian rolled his eyes. 

“You’ll pay for that,” he told me, patting Andy’s back gently. “What were you talking to Chris about?” 

“He was just telling me some nice things,” I said simply. “About how you’re always talking about me and Andy. And he said that he’d babysit whenever we need him to.” 

“Hmm,” Sebastian hummed softly. “Sounds promising. I really miss you, baby.” 

“I miss you too,” I told him. “Now, my love, you have work. Be good and kill Chris for me.” 

“Anything for you, my baby.”

dad! mozart headcanons

a/n: these ideas were running in my head all day so i had to sit and write it down and then this happened

tagging @cauldroncatx and @nafeary since i know you both are mozart stan 💜

Okay so, i imagine Mozart would have a pretty little girl which almost looks like himself but is not like him at all in terms of personality

His little girl picks up mc's clumsiness and is very friendly towards all the other residents that sometimes they teased him about the contrast

She is especially fond of Uncle Jean, he would always play with her if she asked and he takes her horseback riding to the field near the mansion

Jean melts inside whenever she calls him "Uncle" uwu

Mozart teaches her music and how to play an instrument very early on in her life, so that she may develop the same love and passion for music as he has

It doesn't even have to be piano, he is happy to teach her any instrument she wants to learn, even if it's an instrument he's not familiar with or not the ones he originally played, he will go out of his way to learn that instrument first and then teach it to her

But of course, if she has other passions that is not music, he will be a supportive dad too and encourage her to do what she loves

Besides teaching her music and instrument, Mozart will also teach his little girl some german, something he doesn't even do with mc

They both can sometimes be caught conversing in german which even mc can't translate despite her somewhat little knowledge on the language

"Mama sieht heute so schön aus, findest du nicht?" He asked her one day when the three of them were in the dining room and mc was serving the foods for them all to eat together

"Ja Papa! Ich möchte eines Tages so schön sein wie sie!" She replied excitedly and Mozart smiled at that before patting her head affectionately

"Du bist schon schön" He said softly, which made her giggled happily

Mc almost have no idea what they were talking about, but she heard the word "Mama" which she knew means mom, so she assumed they were talking about her, but judging by both their reactions, she thought it must not have been something bad so she just let it pass

Mozart also lets her pet Schelm, he would call the snowy owl out from the woods and when the owl sits on his arm, he would crouch down in front of her so she could pet it gently

Both Mozart and the little girl can often be found in the music room, she would watch him whilst he play the piano and compose his melodies

He would also have her sit in his lap while he's playing and he would play her whatever song she asked him to play

One time, mc walked into the music room carrying a blanc for Mozart and she's greeted by the most loveliest sight she'd ever encountered

Mozart sat on the piano bench, playing 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' while the little girl sat on his lap, her eyes trained on his fingers dancing on the keys in clear awe and admiration

Mc felt like she could melt right on the spot from the wholesomeness

He has also been caught smiling so many times whenever they're spending times together, no one has ever seen Mozart smile this much, not even when he's drunk, and the other residents are left completely baffled at the sight everytime

Even one or two more comments about it from Arthur or Dazai didn't even faze him at this point

Arthur & Dazai are lowkey disappointed that they didn't get the snappy reaction they wanted out of him

However Mozart would absolutely never let the other residents know that he lets her play with his hair sometimes

Yes he would let her braid or tie his hair back, but he made her promise to never tell any of the residents

All in all, she just makes him so so happy and there's absolutely nothing he wouldn't do for his kleiner Engel ♡

The sheer audacity of this fucking man infuriates the shit out of me and I think the main reason is how the hell they presented his backstory. Because, on one hand: it is absolute shit he was pushed to the side and treated as second best compared to his older brother; on the other hand, the only glimpse we see of this is the servants whispering about him (which, again, that fucking sucks and they had NO right) when he was younger and then we immediately are presented with Ferena actually fucking being concerned about him after he wasn't at the party. Did he come in a little aggressive? Sure. But immediately after that he tries to talk to Leona and gets shut down, which, I understand has to do with his inferiority complex but the sheer audacity of this man- I fucking- he's presented to have this damn support system and yet he's too prideful to take it.

If we're supposed to feel sympathy (aside from our own experiences, because I know a very dear friend of mine who adores him and understands where he's coming from, so no- no shame in genuinely liking him- I just want to beat him up because he's such a dick), they royally fucked it up.

AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED IN HOW HE MANIPULATED ALL OF SAVANACLAW, TRIED TO FUCKING COMMIT MURDER ON A WHOLE OTHER DORM AND RUGGIE- LIKE, Y'ALL, HOW DO WE JUST GLOSS OVER THAT SHIT??? Here’s the thing. From what I have seen Arya blogs are not ‘trashing’ Sansa. As book readers, Arya blogs are often responding to some nonsensical take from a Show Sansa stan posted on the Arya or asoiaf tag that usually seeks to blame Arya for something Sansa did, or take away from Arya’s story to give to Sansa or have a ‘both sides’ narrative that seeks to minimize Sansa’s role in the sisters’ fractured relationship.

Sansa is a contentious, polarizing character. GRRM has openly stated that he created Sansa as a foil to Arya, that she was meant to be the one Stark that did not get along with the others. She was written this way in the books. Discussing these aspects is not trashing the character. It’s pointing out the flaws in the character when her stans often whitewash her flaws and paint her as this perfect, compassionate, wise queen who knows all and cares for everyone as opposed to other characters.

Sansa has bullied Arya, mocked her appearance, wished she was a bastard like Jon because she looked different, sided with Joffrey against her, named her as a traitor and threw her under the bus to appease the Lannisters, betrayed her family leading to Arya being stuck in KL instead of on a boat to WF and labelled her dead sister as unsatisfactory because she was not pretty and graceful like Margaery Tyrell. GRRM has stated that the sisters have deep issues to sort out if they meet again.

If one feels that pointing out these facts from the book is ‘trashing’ Sansa, then why the hell are you a fan of the character? It would mean that you are just a fan of the sanitized, whitewashed, goody two shoes show version propped up at the expense of other characters and in which case you should not expect book Arya blogs to be all ‘uwu STARK SISTERS FOREVA!’.

There’s a reason for why it’s the Sansa blogs who ALMOST ALWAYS claim to love both sisters equally – these are the same blogs who undermine Arya’s stories, relationships and characterization to favor Sansa.

It’s in fact decidedly unfeminist to demand that a reader like all female characters the same just because they are female. Arya, Sansa and Daenerys are all three very different characters, with different characterizations, personalities, origin stories, different reactions to things that happen to them and find themselves in very different plots. So why do I have to like these very different characters the same?

The only thing Arya and Sansa have in common is their last name and family. That’s about it. In terms of personality and actions they are completely different. Hell, Ned says in the books that they are as different as the sun and the moon with their blood being the only commonality. In fact Arya Stark and Daenerys Targaryen have more in common – their desire to look out for the little guy for example – than Arya and Sansa do.

There’s nothing wrong in readers preferring one sister over the other. There’s no rule that a blog has to love ALL the Stark siblings the same. The Starks are not a monolith – the precise reason for why GRRM even created Sansa in the first place. They are just as different and contentious as a family as the Lannisters and Targaryens. There’s no rule that one HAS to stan both Stark sisters

If you are a Sansa fan that’s well and good! Enjoy the character! But why do you want Arya blogs to celebrate a sister and a relationship that made Arya miserable and lonely and unwanted?

This has always been the problem with Sansa stans since time immemorial. D&D are prime examples of this. They claim to love the character, but then want the characterization, stories, plot importance and relationships that other characters have to be given to Sansa. They demand that Sansa be loved by everyone and the slightest criticism is labelled as hate or ‘trashing’ the character.

Like the post the other day from an ‘asoiaf expert’ on tumblr which claimed that warging is not plot important in the asoiaf world because Sansa is not a strong warg. Because of course, according to Sansa stans, plot importance in the series is decided by what Sansa can and cannot do.

Having been in this fandom for a very long time – from the days of Westeros.org – I can understand how and when the Sansa defensiveness has come about. Those where the days when Sansa was reviled even worse than characters like Jaime and Tyrion and the Hound. But that has over-corrected in the opposite direction these days and lead to a version of a perfectly flawless, white washed Mother Theresa that has to be beloved by everyone or else they are the worst sexist, misogynist, women haters on the planet.

If you love the character, then stan for her and celebrate her on your blog. Just don’t expect every single person in the asoiaf fandom – especially Arya fans -  to do the same.

can we pleeeease talk about how rushed the whole Nico and Will relationship was? They talked for 2 minutes, don't see each other forever and boom they're together. Like ??? When did that happen? Certainly not in the books? (okay I haven't read the books in ages, but it felt so forced and extremely rushed or is it just me? I'm queer myself so I'm all for LGBTQ+ representation, but that's not it)

Alright let’s tackle this! Sorry for answering so late, I always answer asks that will be longer super late ^^ anyway. I’ve sorta received this ask twice but the other one has more focused on Nico with a little bit Solangelo on the side so I’ll just fully tackle the Solangelo side on this one.

I have three simple issues with Solangelo.

Age

Substance

Fandom

Alright. Let’s start off with the first point or problem. Age. Or rather time. As in timeline. Because we all know that Rick Riordan basically spins a wheel whenever it comes to his timeline and I won’t go fully into the maths because I’m terrible at it and I’m not in the mood for embarrassing myself in that metier. Anyway, let’s proceed. My question is: what is their canonical age? The one from Will and the one from Nico?

I’ve caught glimpse in a group convo at the fact that Will was supposed to be 18 actually if you pay close attention to pjo? And I mean Nico is like 15 or something? Which is also sorta wrong? Because Riordan made him younger than Hazel who was 14 in the Herpes of Olympus saga. 14 and 18 is a fuck no from me, son. I guess Riordan forgot that HOO essentially took place in two days or something.

Riordan aging his characters down or rather refusing to let them age (looking at you, Percy and Annabeth!) because it doesn't convenience him isn’t something new. So, should they be mathematically speaking have that much of an age gap, yeah. That is problematic. That’s Frazel level kinda problematic. Even worse. I know that people are more inclined to look past age gaps in same-sex relationships but I always wondered why? There’s still a disproportionate level of maturity + a mighty power imbalance. So yeah. Watch out for that. Also they’re kids. So there’s no need in tying the knot and popping expensive champagne for their wedding just yet.

I mean I don’t have a problem with the time traveling aspect as in Nico still being mentally and physically a kid/teen. A little odd, sure. It’s not like Nico and Will are Edward and Bella and Nico’s goth ass is mentally aging along and stalking Will’s sorry self. It’s still weird because it’s so unbelievable? Nico is barely struggling finding his way into the modern world, chills at Hades and calls it a day? Now that’s something I have an issue with. I need more struggle. I need more vocab mix-ups. Nico’s brain exploding at the modern world. The difference between the 1940s and the late 2000s is massive. That isn’t just oh, weird little haircuts and why are women wearing pants, it would be not being able to comprehend things and questioning every new little object. Will could’ve been an amazing support character for such an arch, buuuut I’m deviating from my actual point. The timeline/age-line in the Riordanverse is for sure more on the concerning part for all new characters + OG side characters.

Second point. Substance. The thing you’ve touched in your ask.

How and when did Nico and Will become a thing? My memory is terrible and I’m too lazy to browse the wiki. The only thing I remember was Will being a nagging bitch in Blood of Olympus after Nico essentially said “I've got to move on and be who I am, I just don't belong here, I hope you understand, we might find a place in this world someday, but at least for now... I gotta go my own way...” to Percy who just went ??? That marked the beginning for this ship. Basically. I think. Well... I said before in my Percabeth ship roast (more like ship analysis, I have to redo that, that was way too mild and unfunny, omfg): most of the romance is in your head because there’s barely anything romantic in Riordan’s books to begin with (which we all should actually be thankful for!). This applies to essentially every goddamn ship in this series but especially Solangelo. Holy fuck. Y’all are pulling out the wildest stuff out of your ass based on... what exactly? I mean props for creativity!

It is abundantly clear to me at least, that Riordan didn't write Nico with the intention of being gay. There was no real indication in the Percy Jackson series (and I refuse to believe that he was this sort of mastermind, that plotted about doing all of this behind Disney’s back to get the gays and latinos in. There’s a market for everything and diversity was a coming trend in the 2010s).

One could say: Hey! Isn’t it great that Nico wasn’t labeled as being gay? It normalizes homosexuality and makes sure that the lgbtq+ community isn’t something abstract but rather folk like me and you. And to that I’d say yes, I mostly agree if the follow-up arch is believable and plausible. Which it isn’t in my opinion. We jump from the Heroes of Olympus saga to The Trials of (Mo)Lester I mean Apollo and we’re having this HUGE jump? From barely knowing each other to being soulmates, sitting next to each other, hanging out, going on in their business, having the picket white fence, two kids, three dogs, living in a gentrified neighborhood and baking cherry pie on Sundays? HOW IN THE ACTUAL FUCK DID ALL OF THIS HAPPEN?! That is incredibly rushed. 

Aren’t...you shippers....Mad? That’s so cheap? I’d say so? Wouldn’t you like to have more pre-existing relationship and plausible development? With Percabeth you at least have a five book long progression, Solangelo is Riordan basically taking a dump on your plate and forcing you to eat it. And no, Riordan teasing the last Apollo doesn’t count.

Additionally, wouldn’t it be way better to still have a character say “Yeah, I’m gay. Pass me that salt, will ya?” without it being gimmicky or a foil or something for woke points? Just showing kids: “Hey, if you think this is a label that suits you, it’s fine! It’s perfect even! No worries!” (Also, the “coming out scene” with Jason and Cupid wasn't it, my loves. That was horrifying and insulting imo).

I mean. Show and tell are powerful tools in narration and telling more than often resolves unnecessary conflict/dialogue. And whereas season one from Percy Jackson had barely anything in that direction with Nico’s identity, season two didn’t make it any better. And season three is a complete cluster fuck.

Yeah. For me, the ship is super rushed.

Final point. The fandom.

I have to inter-subjectively state that Solangelo shippers are fucking crazy. I know Percabeth shippers (including me, helloooo) and especially the Annabeth stans for some odd reason are insane, but Solangelo shippers take the fucking cake and then some. There’s already a disconnect between the age groups in the fandom and it’s clear that more of the older teens and adults center around the Percy Jackson story and some in the Heroes of Olympus sequel, but from what I’ve seen the Trials of Apollo fandom is super young and on a whole different level. Might be the reason why facing some criticisms seems harder, because the minute you open your mouth to say something about Solangelo, you have people attacking you left and right. Chill guys, it’s not that deep? And it’s definitely not a personal attack on you. After all, I don’t know who you are and tbh Idgaf. 

Talking about the lack of substance, fanon will automatically come in and fill the gaps. Which is fine and something we all do, but I really have to wonder about the levels of extremes that some take?

We all center around certain tropes and what not and while the trope and dynamic behind Solangelo isn’t particularly something for me, I really have to ask why people are behind it. Don’t get me wrong. My question is touching on more on M/M fetishization because I think that is mostly the driving force for some people rather than liking the actual ship? I see more people projecting things into Nico and Will and it’s really turning their characters into something they aren’t? Especially with Nico, who gets turned into this 5 ft. UwU punk princess which is hella strange???

All in all, I don’t have anything against the ship apart from it’s overrushed nature and Riordan’s wacky timeline. Do whatever you want with it (apart from fetishizing and sexualizing the ship), no one’s stopping you from liking it. But I do believe there are some things to look out for, especially in the fandom.

HOWEVER... When you actually made a comment about the love you received for your musical cover, that’s when everyone completely lost it and started believing that you and Dongju had something going on in secret

He’d watch the show every time he was free, and Hwanwoong always seems to grow to love you more every time you do humanitarian work in the show

In this particular episode, you were going to help out at a local preschool, and surprise surprise !! They were able to get Geonhak as a special guest since he was so known for taking up Early Childhood Education

In fact, he might be the type to play around a bit, asking his stylist if he could coordinate with your stylist on an outfit just to mess with ToMoons

He trusts the fans to find the situation fun as much as he does and that they wouldn’t harm you in any way for it

But just because he ends up color coordinating with you this time, it doesn’t mean he’s going to be free from a struggle tweet entry with you

Alright, and I am back with another update! But first, some stuff a friend noticed in the first few pages and mentioned to me that I didn’t take in when I went over them on my own the first time:

The park they’re in as kids is pretty close to the apartment complex Izuku and his mom live in! Considering that said apartment complex is right there in the background. Which probably isn’t a huge thing, but a neat thing to note.

The age these kids manifest their quirks at seems to be more preteen / teenage years, though I don’t know whether that’s just because it is later activation or because there were (subtle) quirks before that, with the glowing baby just being the one that had people sit up and realize something was actually going on.

Endeavor ad! And it has the time of that event that day, too - 8:14 AM! I wonder what he’s advertising… or perhaps it’s a news report? An interview of some kind? It might just be a ‘breaking news, we got Endeavor on our channel’ sort of thing. The only part that I can read is the first three katakana for the biggest text, which is ‘E-n-de’ and matches the wiki’s katakana for ‘Endeavor’. If anyone can get a good enough look at the smaller text in order to tell me what the rest says, I would appreciate it!

Just a few things, but obviously I need to up my observation game if I want to catch all this stuff!

[No. 1 - Midoriya Izuku: Origin]

So now we’re at Aldera / Orudera Junior High, with Izuku’s class being in their last year before high school. Since Japan’s schools start on the second week of April, we know this has to be that first week of school, because Katsuki’s still 14 and his birthday is April 20th, which would almost always be the third week of April / second week of school. 

What is that writing stance. You are going to have an old man’s back by the time you graduate high school. I mean, I wouldn’t know anything about that personally, cough cough…

Anyways! We get a look at Izuku’s class and their quirks, and what a collection. Also, with an attitude like that, no wonder this school is seen as bad, like, what the fuck dude. Not exactly a competent homeroom teacher, are you?

The ones that I can see, from leftmost row to rightmost row, are [1] floating hair, stretchy fingers, dark matter, [2] smokey arms, spike fists, stretchy eyes, frog throat, some sort of flash/illumination quirk, [3] rocky body, ???, stretchy neck, flamethrower arms, extra arms, [4] sharp hair, big chompers, wedge face, [quirkless], mouth face (seen in the next panel and holy FUCK new sleep paralysis demon), [5] horns, telekinesis, [explosion], buff bod, ???, [6] wind control, ???

WHY.

But yeah, this also establishes the first rule of ‘don’t use quirks in school’ thing that… also gets promptly ignored the several other times we see stuff set in this school. Which, what a shock, people sort of sliding around inconvenient rules.

Anyways, Katsuki has proven that he hasn’t changed since those first few childhood panels way back (checks) ten pages ago. And Izuku is being… very shy and trying to avoid drawing attention. But no shaking, particularly, just… wallflower mode, more like.

But yeah, Katsuki is not exactly on great terms with the rest of the class, who are rightfully pissed off at him treating them rudely and calling them extras. Though honestly, I’m surprised that they’re surprised he’s aiming for UA, it’s not like he wouldn’t have been obvious about that for, like, years at this point. You’d think they’d all roll their eyes and be like ‘yeah yeah we’ve heard this spiel before’ or something. IDK.

Oh man, and Izuku already KNOWS what’s coming, look at how he’s hiding his face!

Katsuki is, of course, Fucking Extra and hops on his desk, and gets right into bragging, where, AGAIN, this should have been stuff this class has known about for ages, why are they so shocked?? And huh, interesting, he’s not only interested in surpassing All Might, but also in being one of the richest people in the world. Wow, I cannot even with him, especially knowing he lives in this house in particular:

Which, it should be clear, is an EXPENSIVE lifestyle when most families live in modest apartments because of space being so valuable in Japan. 

God this is a fantastic image. I wanna frame it on a wall somewhere. Hori managed to convey all the emotions in one face and I admire the man for it. 

With the whole class laughing, there’s a thing I want to note that fandom seems to not pay attention to: they note that Izuku gets good grades! I’ve seen fics that basically have him forced to sabotage his own grades to avoid getting backlash, but like… no, I don’t think that’s actually a thing. 

[Also an aside, we finally see one more class quirk, which seems to be some sort of bulked up arm? It looks a bit like mummy bandages, as far as I can tell.]

Izuku gets into defending himself, saying there’s no precedent, but he IS defending himself against them, so again, he’s not cowering as much as some people seem to think he does based on fics, and clearly he’s still willing to stand up for himself to some degree. 

...then of course, Katsuki blows up Izuku’s desk and sends Izuku sprawling. And is pissed that Izuku apparently thinks he, who is quirkless, can somehow be on the same level as Katsuki. Izuku swears up and down that it’s not about Katsuki, that he just really wants to try, and this somehow pisses Katsuki off even more. 

I want you all to remember this image - save it on your computers, bookmark this post, whatever you need to do. We’ll come back to it in, oh (checks watch) about 284 chapters. Or maybe sooner in a separate post where I can put it under read more and avoid spoiling people more than this does. Because DAMN can I gush on this moment.

Anyways, we have a change of scene, right after noon, with a thief with a sludge transformation and,,,,,,,, legs and pants,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Where the fuck did those pants go, sir. Sir. What the fuck, sir.

Also, we get our first meeting with the OG dad, the sunflower man himself, who blooms into 255 kilos of muscle in one panel. Also, man I forgot about the fucking giraffe neck Hori used to draw him with, holy heck, why are you so l o n g.

L O N G.

...right, anyways, back to the school, which is apparently over for the day. The rest of the class is heading out, and Izuku’s back to his chipper self, even humming a happy note as he grabs his notebook-

Before Katsuki nabs it from his hands. There are a few people who’ve hung back who notice the title and pick fun at izuku, so I guess Izuku actually… doesn’t talk about his desire to be a hero that much in middle school, if the others are all so surprised about it. He apparently doesn’t even make his notebooks obvious to them, since this is the first time any of them seem to be seeing it. Which I mean, it makes sense if the class will tease him for it, but like. Even with Katsuki stealing the book, Izuku’s not super panicked or having a nervous breakdown.

But yeah, Katsuki just blasts the book, but! It’s just the cover singed (and edges) when we know he could have demolished that book entirely. Again, he’s definitely being a bully and a jerk here, but he’s got way more self-control than fandom likes to assume. 

Izuku’s upset because of his damaged notebook, and Katsuki just huffs and throws it out the window while saying he’s gonna be the only kid from Aldera to go to UA. And Izuku, EVEN WHILE STRESSING, thinks of him as vain for thinking that way! That’s not the first thought of someone too terrified to do anything.

Edit: As pointed out to me in [this post], it was Katsuki’s crony who was thinking of him as vain, not Izuku. My bad!

Also note the lack of damage to Izuku’s school uniform. I know I’ve seen fics where there’s a hole made and a burn scar left that Izuku has to tend to, but Katsuki, again, has not directly used his quirk against Izuku. We’ve never seen it, just the smoke and flash used for intimidation. I’m getting more and more confident that Katsuki has never actually used his quirk against a person, which I’m probably gonna get a bit more into during the battle training in a few chapters.

But yeah, the cronies / extras basically call Izuku lame and that he can’t face reality. And then we get this scene:

That’s not the face of someone afraid. That’s Izuku’s determined face.

Izuku is about to stand up to Katsuki again. The way he always has, the way he always will. There has never been a point in the series where Izuku has NOT stood up to Katsuki when he feels it matters, and that’s part of the reason Katsuki is so pissed with him every time he does - because Izuku REFUSES to see his place! Not once!

(Please, for the love of god, respect the Izuku who didn’t need a quirk to stand up to others. Who isn’t ‘broken’ or ‘terrified’ of Katsuki or anything like that. He’s a stubborn kid and we Stan That.)

Izuku, however, is not confident enough in this situation to want to press the issue, so he relents and says nothing when Katsuki prods him to escalate things. And then we immediately get to the ‘you idiot, don’t fucking suicide bait!’ but you can tell it’s been a stressful few moments for him. 

So yeah, the summary of this section is ‘Izuku is not an uwu suffering babey, and Katsuki is way more restrained than people seem to think.’ 

I’m cutting it off here since, again, we got a lot of info and character examination, and honestly this whole chapter is a long ass one (55 pages!!!!) and it’s establishing the entire setting from the ground up. And honestly, I’m just vibing in being Right about how I’ve been viewing the characters at the start of the series… even if i am guilty of sometimes playing with fanon for my own means…

This is going to be extraordinarily rambly, but I need to respond now or I'll forget again 😭

Ok so this response will involve, why I love Elsa, why I love HM, why I live then both together, and why I love F2. (Just to cover all my bases)

Ok well first I love Elsa (I am a Frozen stan after all lol ❤)! I love her personality, I love her magic, I love her found family and I love her style. I love her struggle to let go of her fear and to open up with Anna. I relate to her parental trauma and I understand how it feels to just want to run away from your problems. I love how she's shy and introverted, but really comes out of her shell when she's alone. As an older sister, I understand her desire to protect her younger sister, but feeling like a failure anyways because of things you can't control/things you are are too afraid to handle by yourself. I love how she's happy for Anna and her boyfriend/fiance and happy for Anna's successes. Her relationship with Anna sort of parallels my own with my sister, where I'm quiet and reserved while my sister is very loud and energetic (My sister is fueled on pure rage and passion for children's animation though ♡♡♡. And I try really hard to collaborate on our family issues with my sister, instead of running up a mountain lol... Well I've never run away from my family, to my metaphorical mountain, on purpose, rather I was forced to for safety reasons. So we're not a perfect 1-to-1). I can also relate to the feeling of having the whole world on your shoulders, with no one to help but your sister.

I love Honeymaren because she's an untapped goldmine of possibilities! Like she may not have her own personality/characteristics, but she does have a lot of backstory and heritage that's just waiting to be explored!!! Also I love her especially because she is part of a racial/ethnic minority and becasuse Disney was actually willing to tackle colonialism concerning her people (even if it was lacking in certain areas, I will still take it thank you 😌). I love this because, I'm black (as you already know) so I still experience the effects of colonialism and bigotry daily, so I can relate I guess.

Also this gives me a relatively healthy and appropriate way to filter my own stresses and feelings as a racial minority in a white dominat world. Like most TV shows and movies have POC characters and the like. But all of those shows pretend they live in a completely post-race world where you're never allowed to talk about race and race never plays into your character (besides the fact that there is only 1 of you and your a background character). Or you get 1 "very special episode" where some generic hate crime befalls you and your white accomplices are sad^TM (I'm looking at every sitcom/crime drama ever).

But with Frozen it's not like that! Bigotry is the main challenge of the film and lives and breathes throughout the entire Frozen canon. And also, very importantly, it's not disturbing (like it's not a literal slave movie or something like that). Its so nice to just have minority characters who just exist and are acknowledged as having unfair struggles, but it's not a spectacle to gawp at.

I love Elsa and Honeymaren together because A) lesbab 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

B) It let's me/us explore HM's culture and a lot of real world cultural/racial dynamics. Like I know you Ara, said you loved Elsa being mixed because you're mixed and you relate, and I also love that, especially since Elsa now has a chance to rediscover her lost culture. As an African American in the US, a lot of the black experience (for most people) is rediscovering your culture as you grow up, especially if you grow up in a white neighborhood/state (like I was). This is because the US education system/general culture tries as hard as physically possible to ignore black history and black culture. So instead of being immersed in your culture as you grow, you have to actively seek it out and learn by yourself. Like... I'm 19 years old, almost 20, and I didn't know what type of hair I had until 3 weeks ago. THREE WEEKS AGO?!? I have 4C hair. Do you know what that even means? Probably not. And neither does anyone else I've ever talked to besides my sister and my mother's hair dresser friend.

Tl;Dr - Rediscovering your culture is hard but rewarding and takes guidance and love from other, more knowledgeable members of your community (almost always women). And HM could be that woman!

((So I can relate to Elsa and Honeymaren in a sense. Elsa as someone willing and ready to learn and HM as someone who has to deal with the brunt of racial bias, and is a bit ignored, but has lots to say and show the world!!!))

LASTLY, why I love F2. Late 2018 and all of 2019 was the worst years of my life no exaggeration. So when Frozen 2 came around at the end of 2019 and was like "Hey you! Little girl in the audience! You too can be happy and fulfilled in life regardless of your childhood/racial trauma and find a place in the world and have a strong relationship with your sister who does love you!" I was like UWU -> OWO THAT'S ME. THAT COULD BE ME!

Sequel (especially TLJ) Stans: Omg, how could you call Rey a Mary Sue??? If anything, it’s Luke and Anakin who are Mary Sues!!!!!

Luke: [spent two whole movies getting his ass kicked by random no-name individuals and Vader, constantly needed to get his ass saved by Han and Leia during pivotal moments. Failed HARDCORE in ESB because of his recklessness and overconfidence and tendency to act before thinking. Even during his destruction of the Death Star, which everyone holds up as “proof” of his being a Mary Sue, was reasonable considering that the movie gave him an established backstory as the most skilled pilot on Tatooine, that X-wings weren’t that different from the ships he’s used to flying, he could only set up the shot with the help of the other pilots, he needed to get his ass saved by Han, and he only accomplished it by using a force technique that Obi-Wan had trained him how to use in the previous scene. And yes, he defeated Vader in ROTJ, but this was after FOUR YEARS of training, and we knew that Vader didn’t WANT to kill his son and was likely going easy on him]

Anakin: [despite being the Chosen One, still got his ass handed to him by Dooku after TEN YEARS of training. His arrogance and recklessness and tendency towards anger caused the Jedi Order to prevent him from advancing. And in the final movie, his fear and darkness caused him to lose his wife, lose his body, lose everything that was important to him, and become Palpatine’s slave. The ENTIRE TRILOGY was about his FAILURES]

Rey: [immediately masters advanced force techniques it took Luke FOUR YEARS to learn, can instantly summon lightsabers with 0 difficulty even though Luke could BARELY make his own WIGGLE after three years of training, defeats a powerful dark side user who WAS TRAINED BY LUKE SKYWALKER in her FIRST movie, can effortlessly lift boulders with less than one day of “training” when even YODA was shown to struggle with such a feat. Has 0 flaws that are acknowledged by the narrative. Is NEVER portrayed as being in the wrong. Somehow more hopeful and loving and forgiving than LUKE SKYWALKER. Is immediately adored by all who surround her for no reason and despite her horrendous behavior, and anyone who calls her out on her bullshit is treated as petty and unreasonable, eg Poe in TROS. Always shown as being in the right and an incorruptible beacon of morality even in TLJ, a movie where everyone else was turned into a miserable failure in order to make the theme of the movie work. The narrative and characters like Finn constantly overlook her misbehavior. Takes things which she has NEVER earned, like ownership of the Millenium Falcon even though Chewie was RIGHT THERE, and Luke’s X-Wing, even after she treated him like shit and held him accountable for Kylo’s actions rather than Kylo himself. Was hugged by Leia first after Han’s death when Chewie was RIGHT THERE. Never truly struggles with the Dark Side, and never fails in a way that has lasting repercussions]

It is NOT sexist to criticize Rey!!!! And it is NOT sexist to demand better written female characters who face the same amount of struggle and get to overcome their weaknesses and have nuanced character arcs as the male characters do!!!!!!

I am TIRED of instantly defending ALL female characters as “good representation,” no matter how poorly they’re written!!!!! And I am TIRED of how we all safeguard male writers from criticisms over how they handle female characters because “all female characters are queens uwu”!!!!!!!
