#I still want a playable Zelda game tho

This comment made me shift my perspective on Zelda, no joke. I’ve always been annoyed (and still am) that there isn’t a game where you actually play as Zelda, but this does a nice job of showing WHY she’s always getting attacked first, and why Ganon/Demise are always defeated not long after Link reunites with her: she’s the true source of power to defeat them.

Everyone be ready, this was in my drafts from well over a year or two ago and I think its time it sees the light of day. No I will not be editing botw 2 and changing it to totk bc I said so
Botw 2 had taken up my mind recently so I thought I’d discuss a few things I want to happen or would be interested to see in the sequel:
K, probably my most unusual? want for the sequel is for Impa to die (either right before after giving our two kids a warning that leads them to the cave) and to have a funeral for her OR have Impa use the aging rune to save Link and Zelda after Hyrule castle is upheaved and Ganon is unleashed but then like mid game, she dies for them and her death is used as a pivotal moment for both Link and Zelda and a way to up the stakes in game. Either way, I think the death of the Sheikah I adore so much would be an amazing thing to cover in the sequel (I want a funeral no matter what tho, SS Impa still breaks my heart and I need CLOSURE)
I would... also love for Link and Zelda to be separated at the very beginning on the game (after the tutorial portion). This is more so depending on if Zelda is playable. If she isn’t, then I want her glued to Link’s side f that separation nonsense. If she IS playable, then having them separated at the beginning forces the player to utilize Link and Zelda to progress through the story. Let’s say, I dunno, Link ascends with the castle and Zelda remains below in the caves. The player has to figure out a way to get off the castle (aka tutorial pt 1) and then switch to Zelda after Link is back on the ground and figure out how to get tf out of the cave (that could... I dunno be collapsing due to Ganon waking up ~for suspense). And then having the two meet at the ground at the same time to watch whatever Ganon is gunna do. Bam there’s the second portion of the tutorial.
I’d also love for the ‘new champions’ to play a larger role? We have to work with them as we transverse through Hyrule to get to the dungeon (hopefully?) in their region. This is 100% based off my own love for RIJU and having her interact with Zelda but it’s a want of mine.
Zelda’s paraglider be the sailcloth from SS. Need I say more?
I would love for a major plot device to be malice infecting PEOPLE rather than ancient technology. I know one theory is that the game will have Link and Zelda go through Hyrule reclaiming each part that’s been warped by Ganon and restoring it to what it was after botw but before the sequel!
Speaking of the map (sorta) I would LOVE an unblocked Hyrule Castle to explore, new settlements across Hyrule Field (Ranch Ruins please RISE), and slightly modified versions of the villages we know and love. Let Link go into Gerudo Town without a disguise dammit
For the love of Nayru, please have it be confirmed Link and Zelda live in Hateno. I need NPC’s to comment on their relationship. Best part? I think we might get that. Because I doubt Nintendo will ever explicitly make them a canon couple or whatever but they left clues in BoTW that are obscure but still easily found (let’s go with Kass’s final song that makes it canon Zelda was in love with Link, Zelda’s diary, Bolson’s comment about endless falling flower petals, even the MEMORIES) because those all to me tell a story but I know a few friends who missed almost all of those things! Nintendo likes to leave a bread trail but we’ll have to go out of our way to find it. And using the NPC’s would be a really great way to do that (also having a few of Zelda’s research stuff underneath the stairs, either a bigger bed or a second one, both of their horses in the stalls outside, etc)

Random Idea junk drawer
So I had a great time doing my Wangxian-centric Breath of the Wild AU last year, and when I finished it I definitely left the epilogue open-ended enough to do more Zelda AU’s/Fusions in the future (I still don’t REALLY know how big the difference is between AU’s and Fusions and which one my other-content-inspired stuff usually counts as but I DIGRESS) because here’s the thing. The Thing(TM). Zelda games are my JAM. They were baby’s first special interest. Literally.
When I was 7 years old my parents bought a GameCube and a game disk that had 4 remastered Classic Zelda games on it (two 2D, two 3D) as well as a 20-minute playable demo for Wind Waker, with three different starting locations to choose from that you could play as many times as you wanted. And you bet my little 7-year-old ass played every bit of it that was within my skill level (which was not much lol), until I got my next Zelda game at 10 (that was Twilight Princess, and it was the first Zelda game I ever finished). I have the Wii walkthrough book for Twilight Princess that I bought used online and it reeked of cigarettes for months after I got it. I chose a screenshot of one of the characters out of it to paint on one of those horrible school industrial ceiling tiles in my 8th grade art class (sadly the photo of it is lost on an old dead phone, but it was really good, I mixed up all my own custom colors of paint and everything which was like. Impressive for 13 year old me :( ). I have and treasure the Hyrule Historia book. I had shitty ill-fitting graphic tees that said things like ‘Good things come to those who break clay pots’ (really funny to me now that I’m a ceramicist and could easily make pots for myself for the purpose of smashing if I were so inclined [I’m totally gonna]). I have massive Zelda tattoos on the insides of both forearms and I’m planning more so that I’ll hopefully end up with two Zelda half-sleeves. Like ZELDA IS MY THING. WHY I’m not writing more Zelda AU’s and playing around in my expanded sandbox of hyperfixations, I have no idea.
But anyway, I’ve started playing Ocarina of Time again, I have no idea how many times I’ve played it at this point within the last 19 years, and I’ve done it on every Nintendo console possible (except, ironically, the N64 as it was originally made for). So obviously I’m playing along and getting lost in the story because it’s a fuckin good story, as one does, and I was like ‘hey what if Wangxian tho’ and thus. Today’s junk drawer was born. Have I already started an outline of the fic plot points as well? Yes. Did I have to stop myself 800 words in and say that no I can’t just write out the entire plot tonight and no it can’t all go into this junk drawer post because I should actually just write the damn thing instead? Yeah. When will that happen? I don’t wanna think about it, so let’s just have fun talking characters and locations and their implications, shall we?
I’m going to post my notes completely unedited and let y’all see the whole ugly process, and I’m gonna put it below the cut because this is already long enough to scroll past but all I’ve done is gush about Zelda and in doing so further cement my well-established status as a huge fuckin nerd lol:
Jiangs/Lotus Pier as Kokiri Forest -- Deku Tree is Jiang Fengmian (Does this make Madam Yu the giant nasty spider inside????? ew)
- Wei Wuxian -- taken into LP/Kokiri Forest as a young child, young enough to fit in with the other children, but he'll soon be old enough for everyone to know that he isn't one of the lake/river children, he's from Elsewhere. - Jiang Cheng as Mido, small and angry and won't let anyone see JFM/YZY without really fucking good reason but also takes the leadership role in LP/Kokiri Forest once JFM/Deku Tree is dead - Jiang Yanli as Saria, gentle and sweet and fond of music and wandering through the woods that keep their lake hidden from the rest of the world. She'll awaken as a Sage in WWX's adulthood.
Cloud Recesses as Hyrule Castle, Lans are the Royal Family and Sheikah combined
- Lan Qiren as the king of Hyrule, though as the second brother he's supposed to be leading the Sheikah, not sitting on the throne - Lan Xichen (already in his 20's) as Impa. He'll awaken as a Sage in WWX's adulthood. Although he's supposed to be in line for the throne, someone has to be the leader of the Sheikah since LQR can't be, which leaves: - Lan Zhan as Princess Zelda -- plagued by dreams and visions of evil coming to take over the world, but no one takes him seriously because he's still so young. People also forget that in the line of succession he's supposed to be the one protecting the royal family as the next leader of the Sheikah, so it's actually his destiny to have these visions, not to be a politician. He sees in Wei Wuxian someone who's willing to break the rules and society's expectations to be the true hero he's been dreaming about. He'll take up the extremely active role of Wangji/Sheik as an adult, having learnt the Sheikah secrets under Lan Xichen's tutelage and taken up his rightful place as one of them since his escape from the palace as a child.
Kakariko Village -- inhabited by average people (akin to Caiyi town, close with the royal Lan family but not directly cultivators?)
Nies as Gorons in Death Mountain/Goron City/Nie Fortress
- Nie Mingjue as Darunia -- hot-tempered and built like the mountain, willing to swear brotherhood with the boy who came to save his people. He'll awaken as a Sage in WWX's adulthood. (NHS as the snot-nosed kid who hero-worships WWX in adulthood? lol)
Jins/Jinlintai as Zora's Domain -- The Zora are a proud people who live high above the rest of Hyrule at the top of their waterfall (tower). (Golden Carp Tower has a lot of water motifs and they decorate things in teal and gold like the zora do too)
- Jin Guangshan as King Zora - Jin Zixuan as Princess Ruto, eaten by their deity god (who is still a giant fuckin fish, I dunno what else he could be lol) and who thinks he has to be engaged to WWX after giving him the Sapphire (maybe because he was told from a young age he'd have to get engaged to one of the lake children anyway and just didn't know who/hint at unrealized Xuanli?) He'll awaken as a Sage in WWX's adulthood. - Jin Guangyao as (????? :( :( :( where will my boy go?? I need my boy for emotional support)
Wen Ruohan as Ganondorf -- a cruel king wreathed in shadow and flame....I mean it writes itself lol
- Baoshan Sanren as Rauru, the Sage of Light -- withdrew from the mortal world an unknowable amount of time ago to protect the Sacred Realm and has watched over WWX these last seven years as he slept. - Jiang Yanli as Saria, the Sage of Forest -- she awakens into her powers to protect her childhood friend/brother(s), though this will mean having to leave Jiang Cheng on his own in Lotus Pier - Nie Mingjue as Darunia, the Sage of Fire -- he awakens as a sage to honor the Brotherhood oath he swore with WWX in the past - Jin Zixuan as Princess Ruto, the Sage of Water -- he 'dumps' WWX because he has to do the more important work of stopping the apocalypse, try to contain your disappointment WWX, you can still be coworkers and save the world or whatever, if you even care. - Lan Xichen as Impa, the Sage of Shadow -- Lan Xichen must leave the mortal world behind to take up his mantle as the Sage of Shadow, leaving Lan Wangji to carry his worldly responsibilities instead (sort of half-retreating into seclusion like canon) - Wen Qing as Nabooru, the Sage of Spirit -- Wen Qing is the leader of the all-female band of Gerudo thieves who in no way endorse Wen Ruohan's domination of the world. When she leaves to take up her role as the Sage of Spirit, she leaves her cousin Wen Yun (my OC Madam Lan) to lead the Gerudo in her stead. (need to find a role for Wen Ning? Except zelda lore is that only one man is born to the Gerudo at a time every hundred years and he’s always their king. Maybe WN is meant to be the new one but WRH has reached immortality/won’t die and let him succeed him?)
Plot would follow Ocarina of Time fairly closely (Unlike my BOTW AU where I tried to make it...relatively more like canon??) because there's a very definite plot there, while BOTW is so much more fluid it was easier to adapt to something else.

[Tears of the Kingdom trailer live blog thoughts under the cut because I just remembered it was a thing.]
Potential if not slight monster variety? The flying things at the beginning look new at the very least.
I’m going to guess that’s Ganondorf’s voice so they’re bringing him back? I guess the voice itself is about what I hear in my head for him, but it feels...lackluster? Idk im no expert on that, but I’m a little terrified of what they plan to do with my dumbass boi.
Okay, not much monster variety.
I still don’t like Zelda’s VA.
Zombo Ganondorf? Already saw that. When do we get hot rehydrated Ganondorf? I don’t want skin and bones. If you’re bringing him back bring. 👏 Him. 👏 Back. 👏 👏 👏 He doesn’t HAVE to be hot, but. I’m probably going to find a way to think he’s hot anyway if he’s not dehydrated like that.
That backwards music at the end tho? Creepy. Love that.
Oh don’t make Zelda damsel in distress come on. Are we going to lose her immediately uuuuugh. Like I wasn’t holding my breath she would be playable or even like your partner character but man. Plz no damsel in distress plz and thnk u]
Overall, still don’t have much of a strong opinion. I’m hesitantly excited because “Zelda” game, but I’m not yet convinced they’ve addressed the stuff that didn’t do it for me in BotW.

AND FOR THE FANDOM ASK GAME hi may i request overwatch. holding microphone up to u.
and if you'd rather not, then how abouuuuttttttt legend of zelda?
thank you thank you <3 i'll do both tbh. btw all my zelda answers are about botw bc that's the game i'm not normal about lol.
technically speaking i'm also into demon slayer, bleach, naruto, haikyuu!! (to an extent--not as much as i used to be but i still have opinions), and other anime probably. if anyone was to ask me about anything else lol.
🎀 a ship others like but you don’t?
overwatch: there's a lot but moi//cy, phara///mercy, and gen///cy are my big "fuck this ship to hell and back" territory for me. tbh i just dislike mercy quite a bit as a character, i also hate moira so that whole ship is bad vibes. pharah & genji deserve better lmao. i also seriously hate widow////tracer, shit gives me the ick. and anyone who ships junkrat with Anyone i seriously hate bc i hate him and i hate all the junkers frfr. throw them all and that entire storyline into the garbage fr. reaper////76 also isn't a huge fave of mine, i moreso like it for storytelling purposes but i actually don't ship them personally.
zelda: ze/////link i hate so much like it actually causes me physical distress :DDD
🌸 a ship others dislike but you don’t?
overwatch: everyone is very opinionated about overwatch ships, so tbh i feel like any ships i like there's a p decent dislike camp. dva/daehyun is my super duper rare pair tho, but everyone loves to ship deevs with brigitte which i'm not really into. i also think not many people like lena/emily just bc emily isn't a playable character and most people like to ship her with widowmaker but i think its gross <3
zelda: tbh i don't ship anything in zelda other than my oc and link PFFFFFFFFFFF. i did used to read a webcomic (several years ago) of zelda/ganondorf in an au where they try for piece via arranged marriage by @/figmentforms actually. its a really good webcomic and i like the idea of it but i don't Actually ship it ya feel. i just happened to like that au but clearly i fell off of it lmao.
👛 your favorite rare pair?
overwatch: LMAO dva/daehyun, jack/vincent (bittersweet usually), and widow/gerard are my favorite rarepairs.
zelda: my oc (kado)/link. i'm the only one in this camp but that's okay i can just be insane about them on my own lmao.
💕a ship you’d defend with your life?
overwatch: obviously yeehan i would fight people to the death over this ship
zelda: if we don't include my oc, then genuinely i'm more so fighting people to the death to not ship things pff.
-- 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 --
🖤 a character others like but you don’t?
overwatch: mercy. really not a fan. kiriko also can kick rocks. all the junkers are trash literally all of them. i hate the hamster as well, he's included in the junkers to me they just do literally NOTHINGGGGG for the story in my mind literally why are they here. not that blizz has ever given a flying fuck about the story (gesturing to kiriko) but BRUHHH.
zelda: i really don't like botw zelda. other zeldas aren't that bad but everyone loves botw zelda but i hate that girl she's so fucking annoying. i sound like a terrible person bc narratively she's "sound" but idgaf about any of that she IRRITATES me. totk is even worse and that's why (among other reasons like the game crashing for a couple of months and me really being afraid of the dark so i don't want to do the hell-parts of the game that are under hyrule lmao) i just haven't played it. like i spent 70 on a game that i have no desire to play rn like am i okay.
📞 a character others dislike but you don’t?
overwatch: hm. i don't think people dislike daehyun or vincent but i really care them like an abnormal about. i think about them often.
zelda: yknow. no idea tbh. i think i'm actually mostly more of a negative nancy about zelda despite me loving the game there's also so much of it i hate.
♠️ favorite protagonist?
overwatch: hanzo is the love of my life i will not be taking questions at this time.
zelda: linky beloved <3
🗝️ favorite antagonist?
overwatch: honestly, as much as i hate to admit it, ramattra is the most interesting of all the antagonists in this game. but i really don't care enough about him to do a deep dive into him and his lore and everything bc if blizz doesn't care then why should i lmao.
zelda: ganondorf because he's fucking FFFFFF i want that man to raw me. like have you Seen some of the rehydrated ganondorf art like i want him to kill me with his di-- **is dragged offstage**
🕷️a character you feel is underrated?
overwatch: symmetra doesn't get enough love imo. like she's literally perfect. gray-morality (brainwashed from birth). pretty asf. autistic. has the same birthday as me. she's literally Everything. ngl, if she was a guy i'd probably be more obsessed with her bc i'm terrible.
zelda: DARUK FR LIKE EVERYONE IS SLEEPING ON HIM??????? LIKE HE'S SO COOL?????? WTH.
♟️a character you feel is overrated?
overwatch: kiriko like i'm so fucking serious. did you know on the blizz store she has SIX FUCKING TEEN items for her alone even though everyone else has barely one (and hanzo literally has no merch on the blizz store. literally 0). like i cannot describe the absolute HAAAATRED i have for this character i want her executed.
zelda: sidon-but hear me out. i adore him. he's super funny and great and nice and he's got a winning smile. but the fandom imo is way too obsessed with him. WHAT ABOUT MY BOY DARUK??? he's absolutely perfect and i love him?? and the fact that people think yunobo is annoying makes me want to kill people he's a BABY i would do ANYTHING for him. so i think its just the fact that people find sidon conventionally attractive and fuckable that they ignore the other masc characters in the game and its super annoying tbh.

E3 hopes and dreams waiting to be crushed
I am not doing predictions cause let's be real E3 is about hyping up every game you would like to see and then getting either none, one or something you didn't even know you wanted. I am very excited.
So here is a list of things I would like to seeat E3 this year:
Xenoblade Chronicles
GIVE ME ANYTHING. But mostly X or X2. X deserves more love and attention. It deserves a second chance now that we have a popular console and the series has gained a lot of new fans with 2 and DE. Just pls give me Xenoblade. (X won't happen. Nintendo does NOT like to acknowledge that game even exists. But I will proudly clown with the like 5 other people in the fandom)
Fire Emblem
Honestly once again: Anything. A new game would be fun but seems to early for that. An Echoes like remake of an old Japan only title would be cool too. I also would really like Tellius ports or remakes. It's just time for more Fire Emblem. (I feel like FE is actually one of the more likely things to happen but would not be surprised of it didn't)
Zelda
Like obviously I (and everybody and their mothers) would like to see BOTW 2. I think now is the time. At least a trailer or teaser. My hopes for BOTW are actually very simple. 1. Playable Zelda. 2. No spiders. Really all that is needed to be perfect. Other Zelda things I'd like to see are a more classic top down game like A Link Between Worlds. But let's be honest we all just really want botw 2
Kingdom Hearts
Considering I now own a PS4 and recently started KH1 I will no longer beg for Switch ports. Now I am here to say it would be nice to see the next KH game but we all know it will take Nomura like 13 years to make it so maybe it's better if we don't get a trailer too early. Also it would be for next gen consoles so I wouldn't be able to get it anyway. I'd still like to see it tho. I am back on my KH bullshit and you will suffer with me
Final Fantasy
On a very related note: Show us the next part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake! Allthough it will take Nomura 7 years to make it and it would be PS5 so I can't get it. I'd still like to see it tho. Also I should finish my playthrough of FF7R... Another thing I'd like to see is more FF ports to Switch. I am curious about 13 so pls port those games?
New Style Boutique/Style Savvy/Girls Mode
Now you are probably thinking: wtf. This is a series of games that has a different name in each region (listed as Europe/Murica/Japan respectively here). These games were my jam on 3ds. You own a fashion boutique and are like a stylist and it is so much fun. Core gameplay is making outfits based on your customer's wishes. It is a great no pressure relaxing game but doesn't require the dedication of building a town in Animal Crossing. Really a guilty pleasure. I could write a whole post about what I would like to see in a new game. Maybe I will. Anyway I really hope this series didn't die with the 3ds. (Also remember the song Ring a Ding in Smash? That's from this series. It's great)
Tomodachi Life
I have been curious about this game and would like to try it and with Miitopia on Switch I feel like they could (and should) port Tomodachi Life too. Or make a new one. I don't know details about this game tho so I don't know how much they need to change for the new platform and making it more up to date in general (is gay marriage a thing in that game? If not it should be)
Anyway that is all I can think of right now. Really shows I really only play/watch like a few select series.. oops. Anyway I am looking forward to get literally nothing from this list. Clown make up at the ready!

i just finished Age of Calamity, and i'm like.... i'm in tears?!?! in tears or close to it
oh my gosh
this is going to be a disorganized rant, sorry in advance </33
/// spoilers incoming ///
okay i got this game on release day. i wasn't able to touch it until recently because irl's been actually insane
i've been going through it recently so i decided to start playing it, if only for some stress relief
somehow, i managed to avoid most spoilers (thankfully, even tho i started playing mad late), but i did hear a lot of ppl's opinions on the storyline and characterizations and stuff
i tend to pick things apart a ton bc i'm a very analytical person so i went into this game determined to NOT do that, lol
(i'm very glad that i did.)
Nintendo really went, "yes, we know the timeline for this franchise is already hella screwed so why even bother fixing it? </333"
i purposefully tried to distance myself mentally from BotW and previous Zelda titles because it's Hyrule Warriors and i just wanted to enjoy the game for what it was
i'm just... i'm...
the story is a whole mess, but for what it's worth, it made me feel something. seeing Zelda's struggle through her own eyes as opposed to Link's was really touching, and i found myself relating to her a lot as the story progressed
i think that the way they chose to focus on Zelda more instead of Link through this storyline was kind of cool. i know we don't usually get to see a ton of depth with Link, but we usually see even less with Zelda incarnations, and this felt really special
i'm such a Zelda stan, can you tell?
Impa was cool! she looked too much like Paya to me tho ;-; i kept calling her Paya kjfghkdhfg. her playstyle was difficult for me to master at first, but i can appreciate her (and her devotion to the King/Princess)
i also appreciated the further characterization of the Champions. as usual, Revali and Urbosa had the most personality, i feel, with Mipha and Daruk a bit slighted. even still, seeing Daruk afraid of dogs and Mipha with baby Sidon and Urbosa calling Zelda little bird and Revali failing then succeeding in front of Zelda just felt so perfect. it made me so SOFT
being able to play as the Champions was so cool. i appreciated them all individually, but my favorite is Revali (i just love my arrogant archer birb, and i'm not a Revali local). i loved him instantly from BotW when most of the fandom was slandering him. Urbosa's lightning gauge is brilliant, and tossing her shield around like a frisbee is goals. Daruk being a slow, powerful roly poly was a 10/10 experience, and using Mipha's Grace as Mipha was kind of surreal after like 500-600 hours' worth of BotW. using all the Champions' abilities while playing as the Champions was incredible
bruh, okay, tbh, i loved Hestu in BotW, but making him a playable character in AoC was a questionable choice imo...... AND HE'S VOICED BY THE SAME PERSON AS MARINETTE??? he so slowww. but he kinda cute? i don't use him that much ;-;
lowkey everything kinda went downhill after Hestu tho in terms of continuity within the game itself
random time travel glitch in the matrix to bring Riju, Teba, Sidon, and Yunobo to the scene </3333
playing as Riju is kinda rough; i still haven't grasped the rhythm that comes w playing her yet, but she and Patricia are such a dope team. Teba is EVERYTHING; i loved having another archer to play as, and his glide is so cool. Sidon's surf shark is genius, and his combos flow fluidly (ew, pun). Yunobo... is Yunobo. i don't think i used him very much kjdfgkjdfhg
the Great Fairies were an... interesting addition? so was Monk Maz Koshia? i don't use them much either, lol
BUT MASTER KOHGA LOL. ngl i love seeing various interpretations of the Yiga Clan (ones where they're sinister, ones where they're devious, ones where they're bloodthirsty), but seeing them as silly bad-guys-turned-good was cool. Kohga's surprisingly easy to use too?? he's such a clown, and i appreciate it
King Rhoam is a jerk. but he also has a cool playstyle, and i honestly... ugh, i wish Nintendo would let Zelda and Link have non-dysfunctional parents. whenever i write fic using Rhoam, he's not going to be a jerk bc both he and Zelda deserve better ;-; his little beard stroke whenever he does a special move, lol
idk if i'm forgetting any characters, but... if i did, i don't use them </3
my mains were Zelda and Revali with Link, Sidon, Teba, and Rhoam as supports. i also really liked Urbosa, Daruk, and Kohga but used them less for some reason
but YEAHH. after 67 hours later, 73% of my map is completed, and i'm finally done with the main storyline
i feel... happy ish now. life is difficult right now, but this game made it even a little bit more bearable for me, and i think that that's part of its beauty
gosh, i could write meta after meta abt this game, but i probably won't because i want the magic to still be fresh in my mind
i'm #emotional now

Smash Bros. Ultimate  FINAL ROSTER PREDICTIONS (Redux)
I already did this, but loadsss of stuff changed since then. As release day draws closer, I thought I’d sift through my predictions for characters. Have a read if u want, then if you disagree lemme know bc my hype hasn’t died down since it was announced i need help (and hey if u look at my old prediction post, I already predicted Simon, K. Rool and Dark Samus so I can’t be the worst, right?)
Tumblr media
Okay so my predictions have changed A LOT since I started this blog a few months ago and I think I’ve narrowed it down a lil now. So to put it simply, I think we’re definitely getting one more Smash based direct in October/November. Considering the fact that they’ve got the Mystery Mode™, online play and a whole load of other modes/assists/a few characters we aren’t aware of yet, I reckon they’ll have plenty to talk about in it. My other prediction is that we’re getting 2 newcomers and 1 more echo MINIMUM. Could get maybe a couple more echoes or 1 or 2 standalone character reveals as a stretch but I think we can at least expect that much.
Characters (Base Roster)
Geno (Super Mario RPG)
Tumblr media
This wooden eggo has been the only character that’s been a constant in my predictions since the get go, despite the fact that I know basically nothing about him. But he’s the character I’m most confident about getting in.
This newcomer cycle has had a big ol focus on fan appeal this time, most likely stemming from the ballot. This was kind of clear from the Ridley reveal, but the addition of King K. Rool kind of made this a lot more likely. And I would go as far as to say that Geno is probably the most highly requested Smash character since ever.
Sakurai has stated multiple times that he wanted Geno in Brawl and then in Smash 4, but the best he could get was a mii costume. But yeah, not a lot of characters can say that they not only have long standing fan demand, but also are wanted by Sakurai himself.
Considering that Square Enix were previously unwilling to play ball with Nintendo on Geno, but then they went and put arguably their most lucrative character in Cloud as DLC for Smash 4, I don’t think Square’s gonna be too bothered about handing over this character, especially since it’s a character they’re never going to do anything with (Don’t know about you but I’m not seeing a Mario RPG sequel in the pipeline)
And as much as I hate to allude to leakers in my predictions, you can’t deny the fact that Vergeben has not gotten a single thing wrong regarding Smash so far. And he has mentioned a new Square rep and I honestly don’t know who else that could be. Chrono? Lara Croft? But then there’s no way either of those beat Geno in the ballot.
Incineroar (Pokemon)
Tumblr media
We’ve yet to receive a Pokemon in this game and really that’s reason enough in itself. Considering that we’ve had at least one new Pokemon rep in every game, I v much doubt they’ll break that tradition now
The two Big Guesses that everyone has been throwing out since day 1 have been Incineroar and Decidueye, both from Gen 7, as we know from Smash 4′s Greninja inclusion that Pokemon is the only franchise with the power to get a rep in before their game releases. And because of this, Pokemon reps are the only ones that are exceptions of my usual rule to discount any characters that released after the time Sakurai has stated he locked in the roster for this game in 2015/16 (looking at Spring Man and Rex & Pyra here, but I’m almost certain they will be DLC)
Yet again, calling on Vergeben here. He has explicitly said Incineroar is in over Decidueye. But hey, he’s not god so he could be wrong eventually. I’m still fairly convinced of Incineroar’s inclusion tho (as much as I’d prefer Decidueye)
Ken as a Ryu echo (Street Fighter)
Tumblr media
Ken is the only echo I’m convinced is getting in. A lot of this is honestly, again, down to Vergeben’s leaks and a screenshot of Ken in a Smash Ultimate stage that has yet to be debunked. I don’t have a lot to say on this character purely because I don’t think there are many more people that need convincing.
Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic series)
Tumblr media
Shadow’s assist is missing and has been replaced out of nowhere with Knuckles, as you probably know. This is a huge notch in his favour, especially if you consider that Isabelle’s assist was replaced with Kapp’n in the August direct and now ta dah here she is. Honestly, with Shadow I think it’s only a matter of time, whether they release him as an echo alongside Ken in the final direct in the same way they did with Dark Samus and Chrom or they save him for DLC as a unique fighter (if Isabelle can be unique, Shadow definitely can).
These four are my picks for the most likely characters left to be revealed, but hey there’s some Hot Picks™  that I left out that u may be curious about so here’s why they’re not here. I guess you could call these my back ups, but they all have too much doubt around them for me to place them in my main predictions (a lot of this is pure speculation so I’m probably wrong but what the hell):
Isaac (Golden Sun) - Now don’t get me wrong, I know Isaac has his fans and he genuinely has a good shot of getting in to Ultimate, especially if you consider that the only new first party franchise we’ve had so far is Splatoon. But what’s holding him back in my mind is that the likes of Ridley and K. Rool are in, villains from huge franchises that have had endless support since forever. And while Isaac has some sense of seniority, I don’t think his place on the ballot matched that of those particular characters. And if the likes of Ashley and Shovel Knight have been assist’d, I can’t see Isaac placing any higher than them if you think about how niche Golden Sun is (but u know, look how ‘niche’ Mario RPG is and Geno’s way up on my list so don’t listen to me). The other thing is that, in the E3 presentation, it was revealed that there are ‘over 50′ assist trophies in this game. We’re currently aware of 40, a fair majority of which have returned from previous games. That doesn’t look good for characters like Isaac if we’re looking at another 12-15 assists to pop up in the next direct. So all I’m saying is, don’t be surprised if that happens. But I definitely think he’ll pop up in some form, whether that be assist or playable.
Skull Kid (Zelda series) - This is one I was uncertain about for a long while, as the fact that his assist is missing and replaced with the Moon from Majora’s Mask is a notch in his favour but I think I’ve settled on the idea that they may be saving Skull Kid for something else: Boss character. We’re all pretty much thinking that mysterious mode is probably gonna be a story mode by now and Ultimate is already filling its boots with iconic characters fitting in as bosses with the likes of Dracula and Rathalos being announced. And as much as I want Skull Kid in, I would say that he is the most iconic Zelda villain besides Ganondorf, which places him in a weird position where he would be v much suited to a character slot but would also make for a viable boss addition. So yeah, could go either way but for me, there’s too much doubt around him to count him as a dead cert for the roster.
Bandana Waddle Dee (Kirby series) - Another very very likely candidate for the roster, this cute lil squishball would complete the Kirby set™ and he’s v popular in Japan. But he’s in the same position as Isaac where I’m not sure he got as much attention as peeps like Ridley and K. Rool. But hey, with Kirby and this character being Sakurai’s babies, this could sway him otherwise (I rlly hope so, can u tell I want him in)
Chorus Kids (Rhythm Heaven) - As my final back up/unsure pick, the Chorus Kids take their spot alongside Isaac in the ‘first party franchises that really need Smash attention’ category. The other things that make me pick the Chorus Kids over others is the fact that people doin’ some digging a while back revealed that the Chorus Kids were a scrapped character from Smash 4 so it isn’t a stretch to say that Sakurai could’ve gone back to that idea and make it work. Plus, the Chorus Kids would tick another box we’ve yet to account for; this game’s ‘weird’ rep. Much like Pokemon, it’s pretty much tradition at this point for each Smash game to contain a newcomer or two from odd franchises that not many would expect (Ice Climbers and Game & Watch in Melee, R.O.B. in Brawl, Wii Fit Trainer and Duck Hunt in Smash 4) and this is yet another tradition I don’t see them abandoning for Ultimate. As well as ticking this box, Chorus Kids are also a v popular pick so I have them in mind as the most likely pick if Sakurai is keeping the usual ‘weird’ rep tradition alive. But really what’s keeping Chorus Kids out of my main predictions is the fact that we have no idea if we’ll even get a rep in that vein this time, especially since competition for roster slots is so intense this time around.
OKAY so that’s all my dudes. If u happened to read my last post, you will notice that my number 1 fave pick ever Rayman is now gone from my predictions. But that’s bc I think he’ll be DLC now. So there you go. Tune in at some point when I’ll probably do a DLC posty boi. Have a good day.

top five video games??
AAA thanks for the ask.
tbh im not a big video game person. im just pretty bad at games. like, in all the years of my life i have never been able to beat a zelda game, thats the kinda bad we talking about here. so these picks are gonna be dull and basic as hell, and all games that are impossible or hard to lose cause bitch if i can lose a game i’ll lose that game watch me go.
1. The Sims 3
OK LISTEN I KNOW WE’RE ALREADY IN BASIC TERRITORY BUT THIS GAME IS LITERALLY MY CHILDHOOD. i still play it, and no matter how many times i do it will never be the same and i love that. plus it’s allowed me to create dozens of ocs that i still think about TO THIS DAY. also its a game i cant lose so like. sign me up.
2. Pokemon
YEAH I KNOW. I KNOW. the only way this could get worse is if i choose mario kart next….anyway this game is just fun, all i gotta say. everyone has played pokemon so like we all know the appeal. its cute shit.
3. Smite
wow look an actual game with gameplay lol. this game is fun tho, i like how all the playable characters are gods and shit from mythology and how i can literally beat people the fuck up as aphrodite the goddess of love, bastet the goddess of cats and zeus the god of fucking bitches and getting $$$. if anyone here plays it or wants to hmu cause i need people to play with. be warned since it’s an online game you run into toxic people a lot, it’s like league of legends.
4. Samurai Warriors Series
this game is less mainstream but its still basic as hell. it’s literally just a hack and slash and although its possible to lose its super fucking easy so im good. anyway the gameplay is plain as hell but i STANNNNN some historical shit ok. i love that shit so. i play it for the inaccurate japanese history don’t @ me.
5. The Walking Dead Season 1
im a twdg blog so like i shouldnt have to explain ALSO only season 1 cause if i put the other seasons this bitch would be done. here’s to me praying to zeus god of fucking bitches that season 4 doesnt jump the shark

Just wanted to to talk about my opinion on Nintendo’s E3 presentation.
K so of course imma get the octo expansion pack for splatoon. Imma get Pokémon let’s go pikachu.
I’m a little sad/disappointed that they didn’t presented anything on Bayonetta 3. I was hoping we would get some sort of trailer or more info or maybe some kind of release date. But I guess that just means they’re still early on development.
But Super Smash Bros tho.... IT IS LITERAL HEAVEN. DAISY IS IN IT. I can’t believe Sakurai actually managed to put Ridley in it. All the Zelda characters look BEAUTIFUL AF. IT’S AMAZING! EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER THAT HAS EVER BEEN IN SMASH IS PLAYABLE. Also, small detail, I like that they put Rodin as an assist trophy in the game.
Now tbh about FE16...... so far..... I don’t like it. I don’t like the art style of the characters; I don’t like how it looks like the Persona games. I prefer the styles they had in previous FE games like with Fates. I know I’m probably being biased or whatever cuz FE Fates was my first fire emblem game. But the way they advertised Fates, the art style, the characters of Nohr and Hoshido, the storyline, the different paths, etc etc, was what captured my eye on FE Fates and on the FE series in general. Now I’ll still be keeping my eye out on FE16. I do want to find out more about it and stuff, but as of right now, I don’t like it that much. The only thing about that FE16 trailer that caught my eye was that new goddess lady.

Undefined Behavior Is My Famicase Game Of The Year 2018
It's that time of the year, in which METEOR throws an art show featuring fictional Famicom cassettes.
Now, I'm a somewhat hard to impressive individual, though I was able to find a record number of carts (about 20) that I not only found pretty to look at, but which also got me wishing that they were playable. A self-produced requirement that may seem silly to some, but hey, that's just me. Anyhow, here's the rest of the bunch...

Am not as into the SA-08, aka the ship from the very first Silpheed (the Sega/Mega CD version is actually a remake), yet this model is neat nonetheless (via @musuke_twit)...

Revisiting that old blog post of mine, to get that Silpheed model pic, reminded me of others based upon Radiant Silvergun & Ikaruga that I’d also love to get my grubby mitts on...

So all the pics above, of ships that soar among the stars, engaging in wars, were all tweeted on a single day. May the 4th to be exact, due to the fact that I didn't have anything directly related to Star Wars Day handy. With this Star Fox gif being the most popular of the bunch (which again I might have shared already once, a long time ago; via k-eke)...

Please enjoy this pic of a Super Nintendo controller covered in vaseline for whatever reason (via kotaku.com)...

And last but not least, a question: is there enough background info on the game Alien Solider to justify a near 20-minute video? The answer: yes...

Hi! I hope you're doing well. For the Legend of Zelda ask meme, would you like to answer 1, 2, 5, and 30? Thank you!
Hi! I’m doing pretty good and I hope you’re doing well too! I’d like to preface this by saying that I’ve only played 3 zelda games so my knowledge doesn’t go a whole lot farther than what I’ve played
1. What was your first Zelda game?
breath of the wild because I’m always late to the party. I heard it was supposed to be really good and I love open world games so I went “why the hell not” and got it
2. Which game is your favorite?
I love skyward sword so much it doesn’t deserve the shit it gets like yeah it has problems and people are entitled to their opinions but there’s a difference between people saying “it’s not for me and here’s why” and just absolutely ripping it apart like so many people seem to like to do.
I put an under the cut for reasons I love ss so much because it ended up being a lot longer than expected whoops
5. What is your favorite Zelda moment?
ooooo that’s a tough one because there’s so many and I have a horrible memory. probably when zelda wakes up from the crystal in skyward sword and she, link, groose, and the old lady are all reuinited like I actually cried it was so sweet and everything was just happy and good
30. Who was your favorite sidekick and how did you see their relationship with Link?
I’m assuming sidekick means companion so I’m going with that.
midna was such a good companion and i think she’ll be hard to beat in future games. she was so much more than your usual companion who mostly gives you tips and info (not to say the companions that do that are bad). she was very much her own character and had motives, a goal, went through character development, and so on. hell, the game is even named after her. I loved her personality and I really like both of her designs. and about her and link’s relationship- I just see her and link as really close friends because they obviously care and worry about each other. in the beginning she only saw link as a way to reach her goal and link only listened to her because she was the only one that could help him (I think that was how it was. again, I have a horrible memory). over time they came to genuinely care for each other.
skyward sword rambling/rant under the cut
this is probably really messy and all over the place but I really don’t care
I REALLY loved the characters in ss. there weren’t many but that can be a good thing. each npc, no matter how little, had a personality that set them apart from the others. everyone was different and I really enjoyed that because I could become more attached to them. groose had really good character development and man if I don't love me some “major asshole to good and caring person” character development. he was jealous of link and zelda’s relationship and was an ass about it, looking to get with zelda in an attempt to make link jealous. then in the sealed grounds after he sees link sealed the imprisoned, he realizes there’s nothing he can do. he walks out acting all calm but then you find him outside banging his fist against a wall upset that he couldn’t help and is useless. like the old lady said, he had his own role to play and he helps you with the imprisoned fights, works hard, and genuinely cares about zelda’s wellbeing. slso his relationship with “grandma” is so good like he really cares about her. also link????? I loved him in this because he had so much personality like the facial expressions add so MUCH. he’s doofy and caring but can be very serious. I feel his expressions above all are what really bring this game to life bc the usual “mostly blank face” we see in the other games isn’t very engaging or interesting. I feel that in games like zelda games, the playable character should be treated the same way as other characters because an expressionless character can ruin the illusion. the extreme rage and hatred on link’s face when ghirahim took zelda off right after link finally got her back? The look of pure anguish on link’s face after zelda sealed herself? good. fucking. shit. do that again nintendo. anyways, not only facial expressions but some of his dialogue options are great like insulting groose’s hair, saying “sounds bad” when peatrice described her symptoms when she thought about him, and saying “am I late?” when he saved impa. I love this sassy loser. I DID like this zelda but I really don’t feel like I can say too much since I really didn’t see enough of her to make an impression on me. I think her being hylia reincarnated is really interesting and I do really like that she and link go way back and are very close (i still don’t ship them tho sorry) which makes link’s motive really believable and is also a good motive for you the player. I really wish we could’ve seen more of her adventure. I thought they did really well with ghirahim both as a character and as an antagonist. I love the constant flip flop between calm and collected and angry/aggressive/violent like one second he’ll be acting all ridiculous and overdramatic and then he’ll suddenly explode or say something really violent. it’s often a mix with the violence and anger thinly veiled by a calm demeanor. it's like he wants to be that Cool and Collected Villain™ but is fucking horrible at it. something I really like is that there’s no bullshit at the beginning making you think “oh this is the ultimate evil of the game” like he straight up tells you he’s trying to bring back the thing that’ll ruin everything (not said explicitly but you know that whatever his “master” is must be a whole lot worse). his motive is clear, he plays a very active roll in the plot, and he gets what he set out to achieve.
Now onto the way the game looks. I absolutely love the colors and style of the game. I also LOVE the animation in it. there are a few moments where it’s not.... very good. but overall it’s smooth, dynamic, flows well, and looks natural. the facial expressions are also REALLY good (again, most of the time) and convey the emotions well are again, look natural. like the faces link makes in the situation I mentioned before- they’re extremely genuine looking and are just REALLY good. these two things work well to bring everything to life and make cutscenes VERY enjoyable and always had me looking forward to the next one.
finally the story. I’m not good at story analysis but I can say that it’s one of the few that really pulled at my heartstrings. fiction doesn’t make me cry very easily and this made me cry 5 times. I feel quite a few things needed more backstory and some things were not given an explanation that needed it but overall I felt it was pretty smooth and worked.

My Top 10 Video Gamesss
I'm really bored so I'm just gonna do this, fuck it. Top 10 from a guy whose genre of choice is the action-(J)RPG, of which makes up about half this list. I'm gonna try to keep it pretty short and sweet, cuz like who cares, like why am I even doing this who cares. (Digibro says text-blogging is dead, like I need to make videos but like who would want to watch the video of some rando listing things either? Idk, like I don't really get any motivation for anything anymore. But I do like games/JRPGS soooo.... without further ado...). Also I'm doing a 1-game-per-franchise rule 'cuz otherwise it'd be largely Zelda and Final Fantasy because I have good taste, am sheepish and bland, and overly-content with the same 2 franchises. But yeah, I'm digging a little deeper here.
1. Zelda Breath of the Wild-
This may seem risky, audacious and possibly even sacrilege to put a game that is only like 5 months old on this list, but really this is the only game that I could really confidently put on my top spot. I think this game is just about perfect, and even though its not technically my genre of choice, it comes pretty close to a JRPG, and yet feels more pure than that, and somehow even deeper in a way. I'm just astounded by everything from the mechanics, to the presentation to the flow of this game and more. But especially those things probably. The "flow" of this game for example feels so fucking organic and open-ended that it essentially feels like no other game I've ever encountered. You can wander for hours semi-aimlessly and still have an amazing time and work towards progress.
The climbing/paragliding thing is just about the coolest mechanic I've ever seen or played in a game and works as a really amazing foundation for one of the underlying aspects of this game, which is sheer unadulterated exploration. And I was saying it somehow reminds of a JRPG even tho it's Zelda and that has everything to do with the deep item-management and collecting, the deep cooking/crafting system, and the huge array of weapons which all transform the combat from being vanilla-as-fuck as it was in previous console Zeldas (barring Skyward I suppose) to really cool, challenging and pretty dang deep, for a Zelda game at least. And that, along with so much of this, including the incredible different experimental non-linearity of it, make this unlike any other than Zelda save the first, revolutionary entry. A lot of the depth also has to do with the crazy deep physics. Did I mention the physics?? And though there's only like 5 dungeons (I easily count Hyrule castle, and this is not including 120 shrines and the various fortresses/mazes), they're really ace and easily rival my favorite Zelda dungeons in the way in which the structure of the dungeons must themselves be manipulated in order to solve their puzzles (my next top 5 is gonna be Top Zelda Dungeons btw..).
So yeah, this game is just freakin' incredible and this iteration of Hyrule is probably my favorite game world of all time. Every inch of it is beautifully lit, realized, and filled to the brim with little puzzles, shrines, formidable foes and questing galore. Also the horses. The horses are sick. And yeah, climbing to the tops of mountains and paragliding down (or later using Revali's Gale to ascend rapidly) is the most free I've felt in a game since the weirdly amazing web-slinging in Spider-Man 2 (PS2). Also the difference between how weak and basic you feel at first to how you feel toward the end when you have the Master Sword, a crazy good arsenal of weapons that you've curated, all the spells and Shiekah slate magic and all the amiibo-dropped gear attained from an illegal/frowned-upon amiibo deck is freakin awesome and even cooler than the dynamic progression of something like Dark Souls. And the whole first 10-20 hours or so of a new file are especially “special” to me. Not that it gets less fun-- in many ways it gets more fun as you get more capable and experienced-- but the Plateau segment is a master class in tutorial segment design, and the way you learn to live off the land is kind of incredible... There’s this whole Buddhist-esque anti-attachment thing the game forces you to accept regarding early weapons breaking all the time that help make you depend so heavily on scavenging and exploring and always looking for more loot just so that you can survive. You really learn to live off the land, and well that’s beautiful. And everything about all the various mechanics and the world feel so holistic and cohesive and unified in a way that I just haven’t really seen before.  Anyway, yeah I could go on but I think that mostly sums it up. This is the only game where it feels like your actually exploring an amazing natural environment, but without like sore feet and bugs and being sweaty and stuff. It's just all the good stuff involved in taking in a crazy beautiful environ. I already said that but yeah. This game feels restorative, peaceful, meditative. And I never get sick of those lonely little piano chords. It's good. Perfect even. Really a masterwork for me. And the DLC is sweet to boot and still incoming, so yeah. Me likey.  2. Final Fantasy XV-
Where I feel really good picking BotW as my #1, and can do it without hesitation, and it's not even a tough call to make as my favorite entry of its respective franchise, this one is a bit more complex. And like a lot of FF fans would probably rightfully scoff and write me off right away, whereas Zelda fans would probably be more accepting of BotW as the top pick. Because it involves a shit ton of caveats. For one thing, deep deep down, FFXI will actually always be my favorite video game experience of all time. Always. Forever. Sorry not sorry BotW. But I'm not putting that one, because I feel like there's something weird about listing an MMO that I only played for 3 years as a child and can't really revisit in a real capacity. Its sealed in time and perhaps that's what makes it special. Sure I could get on one of the couple of PC servers still going but it wouldn't be the same. Another caveat is FFVII, IX, and XII (Zodiac Age!!) are all, to me, way classier and probably on a technical level "better" than XV. And yet, I'm kind of have this disease where 64-bit games have aged worse for me than any other gen, and while XII is fucking awesome (Zodiac!! ^.^;;), I don't have quite as much fun playing that as XV (though its pretty close...). Somehow, despite all its short-comings, FFXV almost perfectly captures the charm and joy of this series, and all my memories of it, while containing them within a fucking gorgeous-- immaculately so at that-- package that is super freakin' playable compared to older turn-based titles. Like, ATB/turn-based FF will always be more "legit" in a sense, but I can't deny I am an action-JRPG addict and this game hits the sweet-spot for me.
Did I mention how beautiful it is? While some might see the new fixation on open-worlds as kind of redundant-- and BotW has now kind of revealed the flaws in the old triple-A formula for them--, I think this is just a reeeeally good rendition of the "open-world" concept, which is something I always wanted in FF. And while you can't join in with other players like in XI and carve your own path in the world (multiplayer is coming though...), there is a certain feeling of freedom felt in this game that makes so many other FF titles seem so limited (lookin at you XIII). Also, pretty. It's pretttttty. And if BotW's Hyrule is my favorite game-map, Eos is my favorite world in terms of like lore, look, and design. It's freakin cool. It looks real and there are cars and there are modern-looking people like us but there's also crazy monsters, magic, teleportation, robots and evil empires (well those are real). And the monsters seem like something out of an otherworldly Nat. Geo. the way everything is so wonderfully detailed. Its freakin cool Dinotopia shit in this bitch. So yeah, while there are flaws-- notably of which are the lack of customization in character-progression that I love in games like XII Zodiac Age and with the kind of unrealized story which is spread mercilessly across an anime mini-series and OVA-- this game feels like a perfect monument to my favorite series of all time. And like you can play all Nobuo songs while exploring this amazing world. Like seriously that tiny little feature is what puts this over-the-top. Otherwise I might have honestly chosen IX or XII Zodiac Age 'cause they're classy AF and the RPG mechanics are deeper. But fuck it, when I play this, it's basically the best visualizer for an endless Nobuo Uematsu soundtrack I could imagine. And like Shimumura's new stuff is great on top of that. This point falls apart 'cuz I could just play an FF actually composed by Nobuo, but like this way it's like an endless loop of my personal favorite Nobuo. Nobuo...
But anyway... Yeah I like the look, combat, magic, world, characters, chocobos, and the look again. Also the potential... I think multiplayer could be really, really cool honestly. So while it bears some of the issues all post-Enix-merger FF games have (like weirdly dropping parts of the plot which is like...why???, or the fact that they're having to patch it all year, and are adding stuff (can you say DLC $$$$)), it's still a minor masterpiece for me. And while not as deep, or even as charming as old PS1 FF or 16-bit FF, its just so damn playable. I'm not a good retro-gamer like other people-- I like my games new and bright/shiny, and this game is shiny AF. So yeah. I clearly have to defend the hell out of this, but fuck it, it's great. Like seriously the design of everything? Just walk around and like look at it. LOOK AT IT. Character models!!! Lighting!!! Facial animation and movement!!! Omg. Okay, yeah I'll leave it at that. Don't hate me. 3. Super Smash Bros Wii-
I feel like I don't even have to explain this one. This is quite simply the perfect multiplayer game. And as with BotW and FFXV, I like these latest iterations a lot, which may seem sheepish and like plebian-core but fuck it. Melee was reeeeally fun back in like 2008, but I'm not trying to play that rn. Robin all day. And Cloud?? So yeah, there's just something kind of endlessly sweet about a game where the likes of Mario, Pac-Man, Sonic, Megaman, Cloud, Ryu and... Bayonetta (??) all collide in a game with amazing physics, awesome platform-y freedom-of-movement and a deep competitive scene which almost make this seem like some kind of weird master-game. Like the Master Sword of games. An Einherjar/Valhalla of all videogame character of fame and fortune. So yeah, its great. I can't speak about it to it to the length I did with FF and BotW because I feel like it speaks for itself. Its just pure, unadulterated Nintendo/pan-franchise world-colliding fun. 4. Nier Automata-
Nier/Drakengard lore is fucking crazy, deep as hell, and multi-faceted AF and Yoko Taro is freeeeakin cool and the best game director this side of Hideo Kojima. And where the first Nier is an amazing, lovably imperfect game-- clunky combat, and weird genre-hopping and all-- this one is like freakin' awesome to play front-to-back. Unless you like don't like abruptly inserted bullet-hell segments. But the main combat is irrefutably sick, which is crazy. Platinum games took a reeeeally weird game-world and made it feel super slick despite all the amazing quirks that are inherent to Yoko Taro's games. Also this is one of my like top 5 maybe 3 game soundtracks of all time. It's amazing and reminds me of my favorite Yuki Kajiura soundtrack for .Hack//Sign. Is there a term for awesome vaguely medieval-ish female-vocal heavy mystic-sounding music? 'Cause this game has it in spades and it's freakin sweeeet. Alongside some like soulful adult-contemporary R'n'B ballads? Buy yeah, amazing-feeling combat, a plethora of combos and weapons, a solid amount of depth to character progression, and really fun bullet-hell segments make this game sooooo playable and maybe my favorite action-RPG of all time (FFXV doesn't quite feel like a true action-RPG?)
But then, on top of that it has an amazingly evocative story, with wonderfully dynamic characters who are lovingly revealed over the course of multiple play-through, in a an epic struggle that revels in the philosophy of Sartre, Kierkegaard, and Marx among others. That in itself is freakin' crazy. Games/anime/movies with AI characters or like androids can be so cliche in their exploration of existentialism, and this game can seem like its gonna be like that at first, but it ends up making good on its promises, and functions as just a really cool exploration of a rich philosophical tapestry. And it's all beautifully told, in these really nice semi-muted colors and with these super lovely character models. Plus the open-world is surprisingly great to run around. I love the over-grown human city thing, and the super atmospheric music come together with the aesthetic to make this game so emotional. Like honestly, along with other aspects of the story, this game is sooooo feels-heavy for me. It can be really sad, and there's this amazing dichotomy/friction between how fun it is to play, and how like strait-up bad it can make you feel sometimes. To like even play it. Getting into that would be spoiler-y and stuff, but yeah I'll kind of leave it to there. The story is awesome. 2B and 9S are amazing. The concepts and way this game actually effect you are super unique, and all the presentation-aspects bring it together so beautifully. It's just like... wow. Like play this game. then play it 5 times to get all the endings. 5. Metal Gear Solid V-
I almost have to make the same caveats I did for FFXV for this game as well. Yes, I know, it's not perfect. It partly represents like the downfall of this whole series, and the darker side of video-games in general. There's a pachinko-level pay-wall type thing inserted right into this and there's some behind-the-scene drama involved that strait-up led to Kojima's departure from Konami? (firing??) Idk, idc, I don't have the energy for that, honestly. So maybe I'm a horrible MGS fan, but I'll be damned if I don't love this game unabashedly. I first played it during a time when I had basically spent 5 years not playing any video games besides Smash, and it was an amazing reintroduction into the world of triple-A titles. Emergent gameplay. Openness. The most handsome character model of all time (Big Boss is my daddy). And that Asia song "Only Time Will Tell". Seriously-- something about the way that song synchs up with the feel of sneaking into an Afghani military outpost in the early 1980's any damn way you please is like the story of this game for me, and part of why it's on this list. That song is everything. Like in the context of this game that is. But also outside of it too? But yeah the sheer openness is just incredible. Not open in the same way like Skyrim or BotW is, but in terms of how you complete each and every mission. It feels like your writing the script to your own big action movie every time you set out. Like the game doesn't force anything on you. Did I mention Big Boss is fucking hot.
And yeah, great music, gameplay and overall presentation, and the cool base-management stuff adds this really cool RTS-ish depth that fleshes out the game wonderfully. Add some solid online PVP, a sweet mech and the gatdamn coolest most open-ended stealth gameplay I'm aware of, and you have yrself a winner. Sorry old, classic MGS, I gotta go with the new model. It's just so damn playable. Like yeah, I know, Konami is like really bad, and fucked up, and like if I really respected Kojima maybe I wouldn't chose this one? But like man I can't help it. I love it soooo much, contemporary triple-AAA-developer-dysfunction and all. Oh and Asia. And the Pere Ubu "Man Who Saved the World". And "Take On Me". Honestly without the tape-collecting/playing this might not be included. But yeah, its clearly great.
6. Dark Souls- Idk, I'm not even a huge Souls guy but this game is kind of breathtaking. I got it for cheap and went in a skeptic, and remained that way for a decent chunk of it, but around the time I was getting to Sen's Fortress things started to click like crazy. This game is undeniable and I'll leave it to the plethora of well-made YouTube analyzers to really get into why. But for me, as far as action-RPGs go, this feels like it has some of the most legit customization and progression of any RPG I've played. It's got an amazing world, with the vertical-nature of the map and way that inter-locking various paths slowly reveal themselves is an amazing thing to behold as the game unfolds. I also just really love the online aspects of this game. I played this game when Dark Souls III was just about to come out and it gave it this kind of spooky feeling. Like I still got invaded a good bit and had help when I wanted it from others, but I could tell it wasn't as busy as it might have been during its initial hey-day. Like playing a weird culty Dreamcast game online in like 2005 (Phantasy Star Online anyone?). This spooky feeling of people being there but not at the same time fits the lore and the world itself really well and that aspect is probably even more exaggerated now (plus the fact that I fuck co-op proves im a n00b). But the fact people were still playing it at all, and still do to this day, speak to how singular and amazing it is. For me, this is just the end-all be-all as far as  archetypal high fantasy worlds go-- at least as far as the darker side of things go. Its a bit heavy metal and dreary for me as far as fantasy goes (I like my shit kinda twee and anime-core), but if I want dark and bleak, with an underlying sense of old-world scenic beauty, this game is unbeatable. Like literally, I can't beat it. That's my one complaint: too hard! I'm a noob, maybe one day I'll git gud and stop getting wrecked-- one can hope... 7. Persona 5
This is weird to put after Dark Souls 'cuz if I'm honest I feel like this game has so much more charm and character and like personality than Dark Souls? Idk, I guess I can make that claim. Like Dark Souls has tons of personality, but like Persona 5? I guess it has to do with my slight preference for action-RPG over turn-based, but this game almost seems like one long ass 100 hour+ trek through sheer charm and personality. Hm, PERSONA-lity? Wow genius. But really, this game is just dripping with unique style and charisma. And I'll be honest, I wen't in expecting a lot and for a solid like 20 hours initially I wasn't all that into it. I'm still kinda an SMT noob so I think I'm just impatient for how long this game takes to reveal itself. It's just freakin big and deep that it literally takes that long and then some to truly get going. But once it does... oh boy does it. I think it might be the coolest turn-based game I've ever played in terms of just the sheer combat itself (sorry all pre FFXI Final Fantasy games???). Equal parts FF at its deepest and classiest and Pokemon at its um. Well idk, it's not as Pokemon as Ni No Kuni, but the Persona-collecting system is freakin great. And the level of challenge the combat/dungeons have seem almost pitch-perfect in a way RPGs rarely do. And then add in all the social links/dating sim components, and the open world, and the weird Sly Cooper-inspired stealthy dungeon-crawling and you have like one of the craziest, coolest most legit JRPGs of all time.
But yeah the saving grace for me is the actual turn-based system/combat itself. For a turn-based, its bizarre how kinetic and speedy it can feel. You have all the time you need to strategize if you so chose, but once you know what your doing it can be like lightning, right up until the point where your arguing with a demon to either fork over some loot or join your party, or else your moving fluidly back into great dungeon-crawling action. And then yeah all the crazy super-Japanese high-school student simulation stuff rounds things out delightfully. Like, I admit I like my RPGs to either be high fantasy or else cyber-punky and this is neither of those. Like I'm not even sure what aesthetic so much of this is... smooth jazz and sassy r'n'b moodiness, and like Japanese high-school-attending outcasts who moonlight as stylish treasure-hunting demon-slaying thieves and fight against the inner-world manifestations of corrupt adults-- like what is that vibe? I really don’t know, but I suppose its something all true otakus understand on some inherent level, even if it does remain mysterious and ever allusive in its charms to me.
But the story is cool and huge (Seriously, 100+ hours! What?!!?) and plumbs psychological depths and doesn’t pull punches when it comes to getting a little dark, if maybe in a somewhat simplistic way. But yeah, this game oozes charm, like in the way Mona is so undeniable as a side-kick. I mean they’re almost annoying too but then like, no, Mona’s pretty great though. There are things I can almost imagine it doing that would make me like it even more (like the whole day-cycle thing never quite feels as open as I want it to? But like if it was it'd be like 300 hours. Just that thing where you speed through yr day and almost skip right to one scene in-class and then BAM its after-school), but yeah like this nitpick doesn't even fully make sense. It's just that this game is open-ended af and yet it can also sometimes feel kind of like your spending a lot of time clicking through text without a ton of control. But really that's just the like first 20-30 hours. And again the combat is just undeniably solid. So yeah, it's lite-novel-y and when yr not in dungeons it can seem like yr clicking through an anime almost, but I mean that's kind of also what makes it amazing.
And I'll just touch lightly on presentation stuff like the amazing soundtrack and the f a b u l o u s  style of all the menu's and just over-all visual flair of this game, 'cause literally everyone notices that instantly. The dungeons also seem kinda weirdly PS2-looking to me, but like it doesn't matter. This game has a crazy amount of depth and charm that make more immaculate looking triple-A's seem soulless. Plus, yeah like all the menu stuff and like visual segues make it seem so much more stylish than them too even though its clearly not on the same level technically. So yeah, this game’s a lot of win. I was skeptical of the hype honestly, and aspects of Persona 4's world are a little cooler to me still, but man this game is just like... yeah it's good. It's soo long and so written and chock full of a very distinct kind of charm that it seems comparable to having some kind of weird virtual pal inside my ps4 (Does that sound sad ^.^;;). Like it's just cool to know I can always pop it in and hang out with my old pals Ryuji, Ann and Morgana. And Makoto.  For like 100 more hours now. How long is this? Where am I, I've been playing it for 3 days, help!? 8. Odin Sphere Leifthrasir-
I'll have less to say to this 'cuz I'm pretty new to the hype-train and thank god 'cuz I wrote way too much about P5? But yeah, this game is the addictively-awesome side-scrolling action-RPG/Beat-'em-up I didn't know I needed in my life. At first I thought the over-all look was kind of not really my thing, but I've done a full 180, and while its not the like more traditional anime/FF-esque style I'm used to, I've come to see just how beautiful and fresh its style is. And then the combat itself is sweeeeeeet. Endlessly playable and as deep as you'd want a still kinda light-feeling action-RPG to be. Plus there's a deep cooking system which just always takes good action-RPGs or any game over-the-top for me. Most of the game is done exploring these really fun combat-filled levels but some respite is found in the mini-farming and cooking mechanics. And the crafting adds an extra dimension as well. Soooo deep. I also love that it scores you on how stylishly your playing by tracking yr combos. This is one of the more fluid and engagings JRPGs I’ve played, and the hand-drawn look is to die for. So yeah, I'll keep it short and sweet, but the action is great, the characters' various play-styles are wonderfully varied, and the overall presentation is just so unique and cool. Oh and the story ends up being like really legit? Caught me by surprise. It's mostly just good old fashioned sprite-based fun, with a really sick Norse-inspired fantasy aesthetic. A video game's video game (what does that mean?? (you get it)).
9. Dark Cloud-
The true OG "Dark" action-RPG of my dreams and heart-- sorry Dark Souls, you were a decade late. This game encapsulate the joy of PS2-era action-RPGs, a high-point for the genre. The kind of vaguely bland-but-still-unique fantasy look of it (a successful "Ocarina-killer" for my money, on a visual level at least), the procedurally-generated dungeon crawling, and the freakin’ awesome city-building and NPC-interacting make this game pure win. Like yeah, its a bit clunky with its combat, but charmingly so for me. Its mostly just got this really nice sustained vibe of like sheer pleasantness all throughout, and I just can't get enough of its over-all vibe after all these years. Harder to put this one into words... but yeah the city-building and little tiny touches with all the NPC-helping and questing is what make it special for me. Especially the city-building (you get to restore these little towns that have been ravaged and you have to make everyone happy with the way you set things up. So Japanese and so fun..) Like what a cool, weird feature that ends up being great. Idk, its great. I like the vaguely arabian-ish vibe too. It's just...  really good. It's just sheer PS2-style win. So yeah this one is mostly a lot on inarticulate nostalgia but fuck it. 10. .Hack//Infection-
Speaking of inarticulate nostalgia...Now I can't quite say this game is like truly a "good" game? All the way through at least. In some ways its part of a big cash-grab for Bandai-Namco. I'll go with the first one in the series, but its really just a piece of a whole along with 3 other games, that may have been a bit padded and intentionally designed to leach a whopping 200 US from a true dreamer back in the day, who just couldn't help themselves. BUT it's also kind of amazing. Like the combat and dungeon-crawling is a bit cut-and-dry (is it just me or are procedurally generated PS2 dungeons kind of sick?) but its enough. You have tons of party members to choose from, a plethora of magic scrolls to use if you so choose, and your 2 trusty little twin blades with which you can press X to slash with until the cows come home. A game like Kingdom Hearts as an action-RPG seems so much more fluid and kinetic and yet? Well KH is ridic, and if I'm gonna die on some hill for a goofy anime-core action-RPG it'll be this one any day. It combines my favorite aesthetics (mysterious celtic-y high fantasy AND cyber-punk) by way of being a game-within-a-game, and by being about a fictional MMO while not actually being an MMO it's kind of meta AF also. Also, the stuff with the emailing the other party members you meet and the system that has you increasing your bond through these simulated conversations with other players just reeeally gets to me, and seems cooler than Persona confidant-developing honestly. I'm a huge sucker for the original anime, and you got these really sick OVA anime discs with each entry which were set in the real world that the game existed in and even though that shouldn't factor in really, I admit it does. It all comes together as this kind of cool, weird, slightly-trashy anime wet-dream from my childhood at the end of the day. Also, some sick music, sick AF character designs, and an overall concept (that I'll actually defend to the death despite some of the superficial anime plotting/characters) round things out very nicely. Just the fact that this is a game about an MMO... like what a concept (and a decade before that SAO garbage fire shit). Plus Grunty raising. And the G.U. Last Recode remaster is right around the corner, OMG!!!!!!

Oh boy!! I saw this ask going around wanted to answer these! It’s a great way to kill some boredom time anyhow. :) This got ridiculously long so I’ll put it under a cut.
Legend of Zelda Asks!
Favorite game in the series
Ocarina of Time! The amount of time I spent running around not passing the game because I suck at them Hyrule fields, just exploring the areas when I was a kid!! I love the feel of the environment. I have to put Majora’s Mask and A Link to the Past on here too for the same reason. I love these games, I love their lore, I love their characters, and I love their art.
Least favorite game in the series
This is really hard because I love them all??? Take Skyward Sword for example. I LOVE THE STORY. I LOVE FI SO MUCH. IMPA SOOOOO MUCH. ZELDA!!! But the gameplay itself is long af and pretty boring. But I love it too much to rank it anywhere in “least favorite of the series”. I guess I’ll say A Link Between Worlds because I couldn’t really get into it.
Favorite character
Hyrule Warriors Impa is my main gal. Forever and always. Paya from Breath of the Wild. And the main bae has to be Twinrova in Ocarina of Time. Seriously the highlight of the OOT experience as a kid was getting to see Koume and Kotake and seeing them turn into Twinrova. Absolute faaaave! *___*
Least favorite character
Kafei. Ugh.
Favorite version of Link
Hyrule Warriors Link makes my heart go pitter patter~~~~ Did you know!! Link was actually one of my first crushes as a kid. And he just keeps getting hotter.
Favorite version of Zelda
Breath of the Wild Zelda, hands down!! What a precious darling, I love her to pieces. She has so much personality.
Favorite female character
Twinrova! Impa! Paya! Fi! Zelda! Nabooru! Saria! I can’t just pick one.
Favorite male character
Link! Ganondorf!
Favorite main character
Does Impa count as a main? Because if so, Impa.
Favorite side character
Twinrova and Paya!!
Favorite area (from any game)
Gerudo Fortress in Ocarina of Time. As a kid, I used to waste hours sneaking in there with child Link, messing around the fortress trying not to get caught. For some reason that was really fun for me.
I’m also deeply passionate about Clock Town in Majora’s Mask because I loved the design so much that it made me want to live there.
Favorite villain
Twinrova!!! She’d def count. Koume and Kotake are the best.
When did you get into the series? How did you find out about it?
I think it was my stepdad who bought OOT and then gave me his copy of A Link to the Past when I was 10 or so. I think I may have had one of the other Zelda games for the Gameboy and since I didn’t understand how to play it (I couldn’t get far at all), I kind of just ignored my cartridge until OOT happened. I fell in love with the Kokiri forest right off the bat.
If you could develop the next Zelda game, what would it be like?
I’d go all out with the romance (LinkxZelda? GanonxZelda? ImpaxZelda? PayaxLink? LinkxMalon? AnjuxGanon? MiphaxLink? FixLink!!! GanonxImpa!!!) because we all know the series is lacking in it soooooo bad. I’d also give my favorites much bigger roles like Impa and Twinrova. And I’d answer the question of what happened to Navi. I’d give Fi a much more prominent role. Link would still be the main player, tho. But I’d made Zelda a playable option, too. I’d divide it in two arcs!!! One you can play as Link and one as Zelda and their interconnect. You’d have to pass both to unlock the last area of the game with the true ending.
What spin-off game would you like to see? (ex - Sports game, Party game, Racing game, etc.)
A Party game would be so cool!!! Depending on the roster of course but, I call dibs on Impa or Mipha!!
What cross-over game would you like to see with Legend of Zelda? (ex Legend of Zelda + Mario)
I honestly don’t know, I’m not a big fan of crossovers. LOZ is magnificent by itself.
What character would you put in Hyrule Warriors that isn’t already in the game?
Mipha!!! She’d be amazing to play. -heart eyes-
If you could live in Hyrule, where would you live? What would you do for a living? (Be a little more imaginative than just “I wanna be the hero” or “I would be the princess of Hyrule”)
XD Well, I answered before that child me wanted to live in Clock Town from Majora’s Mask. And I’d say that still applies! But I would also love to live in Lon Lon Ranch (OOT version), it looks cozy. I’d be the new Happy Mask salesman. I always found those masks to be super neat. Alternatively I’ll settle for being the new Great Fairy so I can burst out of my fountains in my true naked glory every time the cute chosen hero needs to heal.
We’ve sort of seen the beginnings of Hyrule - What do you think the endings would be?
I don’t know???? I can’t even predict how my weekend’s gonna go, how am I supposed to look so far as the “ends of Hyrule”???
If you only had 3 days to live in Termina, what would you do? Assume you are not playing the role of Link.
Go hang out at Koume and Kotake’s shop, help them out??
Which piece of the Triforce do you think best represents yourself?
Wisdom.
Draw yourself as a character from Hyrule (Don’t just put yourself in Link’s clothes, think about what the average citizens wear)
Maybe some other time, Blanche.
If you had the full Triforce, what would you do with it?
Let it float on its altar wherever that may be?
If you turned into a wolf or other form of beast/animal in the Twilight, what would you look like? Feel free to draw it.
I’d look like an otter with a coat that’s black with glowing light blue glyphy patterns.
What’s one thing that you want to see the most from the series? (ex - Remake of your favorite game, a new style of game, new TV show or comic, etc.)
I’d settle for a game that gave Impa a ton of spotlight! Alt just give me romaaaaaannnnce~~~~ Or, they’d have my heart if they brought back Koume and Kotake.
What DLC pack would you make for Hyrule Warriors that hasn’t already been done?
Full on story about Mipha. Though I understand they’re going to expand and focus on the Champions in the coming DLCs so that’s something that’s already being done. I’m mega curious about Mipha, Daruk, and Urbossa. Maybe a DLC that tosses you to old places from the old games to do zany quests.
What do you think a Legend of Hilda game would be like?
The same but more purple.
What character(s) or event would you like to see more backstory on?
These questions are so repetitive! Impa!!! Impa dammit always Impa! Mipha, too, she’s so amazing!
What’s your favorite part of Legend of Zelda games? (ex - Getting all the collectibles, exploring, doing dungeons, fighting bosses, story, etc.)
The settings and environments, the character/world design, the colors, THE ART, I’m just a huge sucker for eye candy. The bits and pieces of lore we’ve managed to make out and put together through the years. The theories. Unfortunately I’m really bad at playing the games myself, I get stuck so early and so easily. But I love these games so much, I could watch people play them all day every day. For me it’s like watching my favorite movie. I love experiencing it.
If you could only play one Legend of Zelda game for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
I guess it’d have to be Ocarina of Time since that one was my kick into the franchise and I make mention of it the most.

Last year, Nintendo made the slightly uncontroversial and in line with what competitors have been doing for decades business decision to start charging for the service to play games online with the Nintendo Switch. In order to sweeten the deal somewhat a paid membership gets you access to online play, exclusive offers (such as cosmetics in some games and those stupid but cool but stupid but expensive but worth it NES Switch controllers), sometimes cloud saves and most controversially gives you access to a growing library of NES games playable as long as you're subbed up. Some vocal gamers, however, did not like this decision at all because they either already own and play the NES games on offer (lies nobody ever intentionally bought Super Dodge Ball let alone played it on the go) or they didn't want the NES games but wouldn't mind free N64 games or SNES games perhaps? Like winged monkeys with neckbeards they took to social media en mass to whine about it. This level of entitlement we've never really understood. We'd love a crème brulée made from Jamie Oliver's own nipple milk topped with gratinated Marilyn Monroe tagnuts, but we're not going to get it from Kamil's Fried Chicken for £1.49. We're going to get dog cock in a pitta because that's what KFC is actually selling. If you don't want to play free NES games for signing up to an online service. Just don't. Just don't and don't tell anybody you didn't want to whilst you aren't. We do admire the optimism of disgruntled gamers STILL responding to every Nintendo Twitter announcement with: And we're struggling to understand. What's the mentality here? Are they mistaking a regional social media marketing account of a multinational electronics company with the Make A Wish foundation? If they were is that really the wish you want to run with all things considered? However, the entitled little so and so's do have a point. In a very Nintendo way, not all of the NES games currently on offer are stellar nor does there seem to be a rhyme or reason to the selection of games or the order they are being added. FRET NOT because here's our essential guide with each game either rated: worth a try, all-time stone cold classics or games that should have stayed unplayable. Adventures of Lolo Play as a face and collect the hearts until the angry skulls run after you. Defend yourself by turning them into bubble gum eggs? Our verdict: Once we worked out the controls, quite enjoyed this one. Balloon Fight We feel really sorry for the people out there whose first experience with video games was Balloon Fight because they don't play games anymore. They've avoided them ever since 1986 because this game is about as fun as Joust which everyone knows was not and never will be fun. Our verdict: Push off a cliff but make sure you pop both balloons first. Just in case. Baseball Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Unless it's an American sport in which case it's worse. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing. Donkey Kong You too can pretend to be a sad middle-aged hot sauce salesman and/or professional loser by playing this infuriating game. BUT DAT MUSIC THO. Our verdict: Good for a quickie in the kitchen every now and then. Double Dragon Like River City Ransom but good. Our verdict: That these early games spawned entire genres is sometimes very surprising. Dr. Mario It's Dr. Mario. There's never a good time not to Dr. Mario. You want to be the one to be out here pretending Dr. Mario ain't all that? Who hurt you in the past? Our verdict: Marry. Dr. Mario SP For those not good enough at germing the other germs, a quick skip to a sort of end. Our verdict: A one night stand only but make sure you play safe because there's no knowing what diseases you might get.  Excitebike If you can tolerate the awful SFX this Drive 'Em Up is mildly challenging. Our verdict: [HORriFiC EngInE NOiSe]. Ghosts'n Goblins Like Half Minute Hero except that half minute is spent being constantly attacked by enemies which come out of the ground then you die. Out verdict: We've never gotten past the first screen to be honest. Gradius Like TwinBee but horizontal. Tough to boot. Our verdict: Dark Souls but in space. Gradius SP Made almost playable starting the game powered up until you get hit that is then it's back to buggery. Our verdict: Bloodborne but in space. Ice Climber Like QWOP but for jumping upwards and less fun. Our verdict: Climb up a cliff just to push this off. Ice Hockey Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing. The Legend of Zelda Confession time! This half of TGAM never played this game originally. I assumed from the bits of it I'd been exposed to from WarioWare and both NES Remix games that there was more to this game. There isn't. Our verdict: It is a secret to everyone that this game is a bit shit.  The Legend of Zelda SP Confession time! This half of TGAM never played this game originally. I assumed from the bits of it I'd been exposed to from WarioWare and both NES Remix that there was more to this game. There isn't. Our verdict: It is a secret to everyone that this game is a bit shit. Warmed up. Mario Bros. Before they were super and before jumping in NES games felt nice this is what the Mario brothers did. Flushing giant flies, angry crabs, turtles and ice blocks out of the sewer. For coins. Our verdict: Fun to co-op but lacks the stamina to really smash your back doors in. Metroid One of the best retro Metroidvanias ever. Although younger gamers weaned on the mother's milk of Dark Souls and the like might need a pen and paper to draw a map as they go. Our verdict: Put a chuffing ring on it. Metroid SP Like the above but super racist against Ridley. Our verdict: For those who want to feel a big man but just don't have the capacity. Mighty Bomb Jack Remind us why were jumping on boxes as the mummies turn into coins? Our verdict: They don't make them like this anymore. Probably for good reason. NES Open Tournament Golf Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing. Ninja Gaiden Like River City Ransom but hard. Our verdict: Try if you like BDSM.  Pro Wrestling If this is Pro we'd hate to see the amateurs. Our verdict: Ring out! River City Ransom Like Double Dragon but worse Our verdict: Push off a conveyor belt to the void. Soccer Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing which is definitely Soccer.  Solomon's Key What is this game about? Make blocks to touch the bell and liberate fairies? Nuts. Our verdict: Who knows?  Super Dodge Ball We thought dodge ball is what you play when the weather's too shit to play a proper sport and all you have is a ball. Let alone an actual game. With actual rules. And an arena. And a video game version. Our verdict: No. Just no.  Super Mario Bros. Yes, you may have played the original on the NES and again with Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe and the virtual console releases and the Wii Super Mario All-Stars re-release. And Super Luigi Bros. on the Wii-U. You may have even remade and remixed it on Super Mario Maker on more than one platform. But it's fucking Super Mario Bros. It's like pizza or Marmite. Everyone loves it. Our verdict: Get down on one knee for this one. Super Mario Bros. 3. Do us a favour before even trying to pretend you have an edgy opinion about how it isn't that good. Get or buy a friend. Give them the second Joy-Con and play Super Mario Bros. 3 together. If you don't enjoy yourself just end it. End it now. Our verdict: Worth committing bigamy* with a friend for.  Tecmo Bowl What is this? Is this some kind of war thing? Not into it. Our verdict: Off the fucking cliff. Tennis Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing.  TwinBee Like Gradius but upways Our verdict: Okay, what both this platform and Sega Mega Drive Classics need are some decent fucking documentation. Here's what the user guide says for every. single. game: Not exactly helpful is it? What's strange about this shoddy aspect is that the Virtual Console on the Wii-U had whole manuals viewable from within a menu.  Wario's Woods Worth a try but not for everyone. Think Tetris lacks platforming? This may be for you. Our verdict: Go for coffee and see how you feel.  Yoshi Crack with Bloopers. Our verdict: Marry but with constant shagging. So there we have it, all rated and up-to-date as of this blog going live.
