You were sitting in An's cafe after it closed. Her dad had to go there so she was the one who had to do the cleaning. But of course, she didn't wanted to do it so instead of that, she decided it'll be great idea to just bake something for you both!
You were just eating your favorite cake with her and accidentally bit your tongue.
"Oh gosh, Y/N are you alright!?"
"Have you ever wondered why you can't taste your tongue?"
That left her speechless... she was so worried about you that she didn't even realized the question at first.
"No, but... that's actually a good question!!"
My girl doesn't see the answer here... not at first at least! Give her some time to think and she'll actually explain it well! Maybe it's because she knows about all the food stuff thanks to working in cafe? Whatever it is, it definitely helped her right there!
"Oh I know! It's probably because taste buds are on your tongue, right!?"
"Ooooh, thanks An!"
You both stick together through your dumber thoughts. Usually she's the first one to come up with at least a bit smarter answers for them.

You and Akito were bored to death as you just layed on your back in ones bedroom. You already played all games you could, talk about everyting you could, so he was distracted with his phone as you thought about everything and nothing at once. That's when you heard him get a bit more mean, most likely because of video he just saw.
"How the fuck do people do that!? C'mon it gotta be edited... it's so impossible after all..."
"Penguins can fly so you can do that too for sure."
"Penguins can't fly, stupid."
"They can if you give them a rocket!"
He just stared at you... he did not understand your way of thinking, so the only thing he could do was show how stupid he thought it was with his expression.
"What?"
"I'm just done with you."
He's really not, he loves you so much despite your question and statements that sometimes even get him worried about your mental health...
Also he definitely looked up "rockets for penguins" when you weren't looking-

You were helping Tsukasa with his school project. Basically he was supposed to do model of something son you naturally helped him.
You were just gluing some pieces together when a sudden thought appeared in your had...
"Hey Tsukasa... glue is made to stick to everything, right?"
"Yeah of course! That's like it's whole purpose."
"Then why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?"
"It... wait... you're right! Why it doesn't!!?"
You two are combo of dumb and dumber but that's exactly why the two of you are just so adorable together!
You definitely gave up on that project for now and focused on discussing why it could be like that and omg weren't your assumptions delusional.
"Maybe bottle is just glueproof?"
"But how? Is it like magical or something?"
"It could be!"
You ended up looking the answer up on Google and both of you were disappointed that the answer was this simple whole the two of you discussed this topic for at least half an hour and even did sketch of how it could've been created!

Mafuyu was resting at the cafe with you as both of you waited for your orders to come. But then closed and opened your eyes... first thing that came to her mind is that you might be tired so she immidietly asked you for the reason.
"Are you tired? Do you want simp of my coffee? Or you can take a nap... I'll wake you up once our orders come."
"No I just realized something..."
She held herself back from sighing, she knew very well where this is going but of course she doesn't want to be mean without giving you a chance first so she let's you finish your thought.
"And what could it be this time?"
"Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can’t see."
"... Sometimes?"
She was confused... skipping the stupidity of that statement, what did you mean you don't see when your eyes are closed only SOMETIMES?! Should you go to doctor instead of aquarium date...?
As you nodded to confirm your words, she knew there was no way if explaining everything to you so she just gave up and decided to play nice. Especially since it's not first and definitely not your last stupid statement she hears today.
"That's... kinda right..."

I was hoping for a song request for Billy- Cruel Summer Taylor Swift
Something about the bridge just screams Billy to me
Butttttttt if TS isn’t your style I have a few other ideas
- Coming Down- Halsey, Hate That I Love You- Rihanna, Beautiful Mess- Diamond Rio
@pikachuondrugs thank you so much for sending this request in. You actually picked a Taylor Swift song that I like, she’s normally not my cup of tea but there are a few that I like and Cruel Summer is one of them.
Thank you for following me and being a part of my celebration. I hope you like what I did here ♥️
Safe with You

Pairing: Billy Russo x F! Reader
Warnings: Drinking, tipsy reader, maybe a swear word? (I don’t remember, is that bad? 😆) fluffy bunnies and unicorns, love confessions
Word Count: 2.8k-ish
Summary: You meet your friends for a girls night out and have a little too much to drink so you call your boyfriend to come pick you up.
A/N: Loosely inspired by the bridge of Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift, book quotes from The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. It’s one of my favorite books and one I think Billy would love also ♥️
As you watched the sun get lower in the sky toward the horizon, the colors of the sky turned shades of fiery red and orange with the colors of lilac and pink bordering the fluffy white clouds.
You recalled that saying “Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky at morning, sailors take warning” and if there was any truth to that saying, it would be a nice day for your trip to the beach with your boyfriend tomorrow but tonight was about girls night out.
Your vanity sat next to the window so you could watch the sun go down while getting ready for the night. It had been awhile since you had seen your two best friends so you were excited about dinner and drinks tonight but it was your fault you hadn’t seen them in a couple of months.
They said they understood. “Hey, you have a really HOT reason for not hanging out with us at all this summer! It really is ok, y/n because he is super-HOT!” Sabrina had said.
She wasn’t wrong, Billy was incredibly handsome. They had only seen pictures of him, they hadn’t met him yet but they’d love him…just like you did but he didn’t know that yet.
You didn’t know it at that moment, but he would know exactly how you feel about it by the end of the night.
**********
The month of May had been unusually warm and that particular day you hadn’t even planned on going anywhere but it was such a nice day, you decided to go for a walk to get a cup of coffee and stop at the bookstore on your way back.
The bright early afternoon sun warmed the tops of your shoulders as you walked the crowded city sidewalks. People in business attire hustled past you, trying to get back to their offices after enjoying their lunch break outside.
You were thankful to be off from work on such a beautiful day.
Because it was such a nice day, you put on a flowy white tank top, jeans and put your hair up in a messy bun. You weren’t going to be out very long so you put minimal makeup on before leaving the house and headed out.
Sure, there were plenty of genres you enjoyed reading but you kept coming back to the classics which is where he first laid eyes on you. With your back turned, you sensed someone behind you before he said,
“And I thought I was the only nerd who still read the classics.” His voice was soft with a slight New York accent and you could tell he was smiling even before you turned around.
When you turned around, you saw probably the most handsome man you’d ever seen. He was dressed in a designer suit with dark brown hair, a well-groomed beard and eyes as dark as freshly turned soil. You suddenly felt underdressed even though you were just in a bookstore.
“What do ya got there?” He asked with a perfect smile stretched across his lips.
He gently touched your wrist to pull the books you were holding closer so he could see and heat rose to your cheeks as his long fingers wrapped around your wrist.
“The Count of Monte Cristo and The Things They Carried. Both fine choices.” He extended his arm and hand for you to shake. “Maybe I should have introduced myself first before snooping around your book choices, Billy Russo.”
You shook his hand, trying not to blush in the process. “It’s nice to meet you Billy Russo, I’m y/n. I’ve never met anyone else who’s read The Things They Carried before. My copy is old and falling apart so I needed a new one.” You said.
“The bad stuff never stops happening: it lives in its own dimension, replaying itself over and over.” Billy quoted. “Another quote I love is…’They carried all they could bear, and then some, including a silent awe for the terrible power of the things they carried.’”
And at that moment, you were smitten with him.
**********
That was three months ago, you had spent your free summer nights going out on the most romantic dates with him and he really knew how to show you a good time but he wasn’t just a handsome face.
Billy was sweet, funny, well-read, smart and strong but also…guarded, stubborn, jealous and a little possessive. But with all his faults, Billy always made you feel safe which he said was the best compliment he could ever receive.
He was a little disappointed he wouldn’t get to see you tonight but he knew you hadn’t seen your friends in awhile.
A text from him came through while you were getting ready for the night.
Have fun tonight, beautiful. Be safe.
Just a text from him brought a smile to your face, you made sure to reply. Billy would get nervous if you didn’t text back.
Thank you, handsome. I will.♥️
As the evening sun was setting, it cast long shadows on the ground as you walked to meet your Uber, you were ready for an exciting night.
After fending off some rather aggressive bar patrons, three karaoke songs, and a shot of tequila, you and your friends were able to catch up with each other’s lives but mostly laugh with each other and they wanted to hear more about Billy.
“Is he good in bed?” Sabrina asked.
Your jaw dropped which turned into a loud burst of laughter.
Valerie slapped her on the shoulder. “That’s a dumb question! Do you really think y/n would still be with him if he wasn’t?”
You shrugged your shoulders and nodded. “Val’s right, I wouldn’t have stuck around if he wasn’t.” You said, taking a sip of your drink.
“Do you love him?” Asked Sabrina, changing the tone of the conversation for a minute.
The corners of your mouth dropped and your lips pressed together in a straight line before letting out a long exhale. You gave them both a warm smile before saying, “I do…I really do but I haven’t told him yet. I’m scared to but hey if we keep drinking, that could change. Cheers!!”
The three of you reminisced of when you all used to work together, you missed it but you needed a job that paid better, they eventually left too, also maybe it wasn’t a good idea for three best friends to work together. You were convinced your boss threw a massive party after the three of you left.
“…Even separating us didn’t work, remember?” You said through fits of laughter.
After a few more rounds and many, many laughs later, the three of you decided to call it a night but you felt a little too drunk to even get in an Uber and get safely home.
“H-hey, w-will you guys ride in the Uber with me? I might fall asleep before I get home.” You asked with slightly slurred speech.
Sabrina and Valerie exchanged a look with raised eyebrows like they were hatching a plan telepathically.
“Whyyyyyyy don’t you have your boyfriend pick you up?” Valerie asked, exchanging another look with Sabrina. “We’ll wait with you until he gets here.”
“G-good idea!” You exclaimed, pulling your phone out of your purse and pushing the “call” button.
Billy answered on the second ring.
“Hey sweet girl. Everything ok?” He asked.
“Hi handsome! I-I really h-hate to bother you buuuuuut, can you come get me? I’m afraid I might fall asleep in the Uber.” You asked.
Val leaned in to the phone. “Hiiiiii Billy!!!” She yelled into the phone followed by a cackle.
Then you started laughing. “Oh my god, what is wrong with you?!” You said with your mouth away from the phone, Billy could still hear you though by the way he was chuckling.
“Baby, just text me where you are and I’ll be there as soon as I can, ok?” He said.
“Shut up, guys!” You said, followed by more laughter. “Ok, b-baby. I’ll t-text you as soon as I get off…he-he…get off.”
“Real mature, y/n!” Sabrina yelled.
Billy tried to stop himself from laughing but couldn’t, all he managed to get out was, “I’ll see you soon, beautiful.” And he hung up.
You were waiting for about 20 minutes when the balmy summer air hit the back of your arms. You were facing away from the door when Billy walked in and your friends pointed him out that he was there.
“Somebody is here for youuuuuuu!” Val exclaimed.
You turned around and watched him walk over to you, he had on jeans and a black t-shirt.
Sabrina “whispered” in your ear. “How is he even hotter in person?”
“You’re n-not w-whispering, ya know.” You giggled. “Billy, these are my friends, Valerie and Sabrina.”
Billy flashed his perfect smile at them as he wrapped his arm around your waist. “Nice to meet you ladies, I’d love to chat with you more but I really should get her home.” He said.
Valerie shooed the two of you out of the bar. “Go on, get outta here you crazy kids. You guys would have beautiful babies, by the way.” She said.
“What?!” You yelled.
“What?! Who said that?!” She said. “Ok, goodnight! Love youuuuuu! Nice to finally meet you, Billy!”
“You too.” Billy said with a warm smile, opening the car door. “Wanna lay down in the back, baby?”
“Y-yesssss, I do.” You slurred.
Billy had been driving for about 10 minutes when he asked, “You ok back there, beautiful?”
You sat up and stuck your head in between the front seats. “Oh y-yeah, I’m good!”
Billy just smiled and shook his head back and forth. “That’s good, baby. I’m glad you had fun tonight. I know you haven’t seen them in awhile but that’s my fault. I’ve been monopolizing your time and I’m sorry.” He said.
“But I love spending time with you, Billy. Actually, I-I t-told my friends a s-secret earlier.” You whispered. “Sssshhhhhh!”
Acting surprised, Billy chuckled and responded with, “Oh really? And what secret did you tell them, baby?”
“Well I can’t tell youuuuuu, cuz what if?” You trailed off and suddenly tears welled up in your eyes.
Concerned, Billy asked, “What if what, y/n? Ya know there’s only room for one emotionally stunted person in this relationship and that’s me. Tell me, baby.”
A single tear streaked down your cheek and Billy wanted nothing more than to catch it but he was driving and he couldn’t. You wiped the tear away and whispered, “I-I t-told them that I’m in l-love with youuuuuu.”
You thought you saw the corners of Billy’s mouth curl up into a sly smile in the reflection of the rearview mirror.
“I knowwww, I know you p-probably don’t feel the same way…Imma go back to sleep now, night night. Just shove me out onto the sidewalk when you get to my apartment. This is so embarrassing, I shouldn’t have said anything.”
Billy never did relationships but he couldn’t stay away from you. It was easy with you and it was the first time in a long time, or ever, that someone had told Billy he was loved.
You felt the car come to a stop and the engine turn off, you must be home.
“How ya doin’, beautiful? Can ya walk?” Billy asked sarcastically.
You narrowed your eyes at him as you sat upright and he winked at you in the rearview mirror.
“Yes Billy, I can walk. I’m d-drunk but I’m not THAT drunk.” You said.
Billy exited the car and opened the door to the back seat for you. His hands were chilled from the air conditioning and felt cold against the warm skin of your wrists, more than likely because of the alcohol. You felt his lips plant a gentle kiss on your forehead which made you smile and caused your stomach to flutter.
He really did care about you.
“C’mon baby, let’s get you to bed.” He said softly against your ear.
Swaying a little as you walked toward the entrance of your building, you grabbed a hold of his t-shirt and held onto him for balance, with his hand wrapped around your waist and guiding you into your building.
Once inside your apartment, you tossed your purse and keys onto the table and headed straight for your bedroom, leaving Billy to lock the door behind him.
He knew for the most part you were ok to change by yourself and get into bed so he went into the kitchen to get you some water and pain reliever.
Listening carefully, he heard the water from the bathroom sink running. You were brushing your teeth and washing the makeup off of your face. Billy found you curled up on your side, nestled under the blanket, waiting for him to come in.
“Ah, ah…before you close those beautiful eyes of yours, sit up and take these.” He said in a slightly scolding tone.
“Alright, alright. At ease, soldier. You don’t hafta yell at meeeeee. But it is pretty sexy when you do.” You said with a half-smile on your face.
Billy chuckled as he watched you swallow the two pills he gave you. He sat on the edge of the bed and moved a stray hair away from your eyes while you inched closer to him.
With your hand resting against his cheek, you started to gently brush his beard with your thumb, he kissed the heel of your hand and gave you a warm smile.
“Thank you for coming to get me tonight, Billy.” You said softly.
“Anything for you, baby. Now get some sleep, ok?” He said.
Nodding, you easily rested your head against your pillow and immediately felt your eyes get heavy and the last thing you saw before falling asleep was Billy’s handsome face smiling at you and felt him gently drawing circles on your back with his long slender fingers.
Yes, you were very much in love with him.
**********
Rays from the early morning sun shone into your bedroom, warming the side of your face that wasn’t resting against Billy’s chest.
He stayed with you…he didn’t have to do that, but it warmed your heart that he did. Lifting your head slightly to look up at him, you thought about everything you said to him last night. You didn’t have any regrets, you meant it when you told him you were in love with him.
“Good morning, beautiful.” Said Billy, still with his eyes closed.
“Hey there handsome. You stayed with me.” You said.
His agile fingers danced up and down the exposed skin of your arm. “Of course I did, sweet girl. So, did you really mean what you said last night?” He asked.
You propped yourself up on one arm and gazed into his endless brown eyes. “Yes I did, Billy. I am very much in love with you. That wasn’t exactly how I wanted to tell you for the first time but, well, I can’t take it back…and I don’t want to take it back. I-I love you Billy.”
Billy had a stoic look to his face for a brief moment which felt like time was standing still waiting for a reaction before a warm smile crept to his face and his lips collided with yours.
Suddenly, you were pinned underneath him as he kissed you aggressively, all teeth and tongue before tracing his lips down the hollow of your throat and the side of your neck. The bristles of his beard tickled your skin which caused you to giggle and playfully call out his name.
He stopped and gazed down at you with slight sadness in his beautiful dark brown eyes that looked like two pools of black ink. Billy closed the gap between your bodies so he could rest his forehead against yours.
“I love you too y/n, very much. Ya know, I find myself staring at your picture when you’re not around, I smile when I see that you text me, I love how you say hi to every single dog we pass walking down the sidewalk, you make me laugh which isn’t easy to do, and I probably fell in love with you when you told me that…that you felt safe with me.” He said as he gently pressed his lips to yours.
His words sent shivers down your spine causing you to let out a long exhale.
“Billy, I never feel safer than when I’m with you.” You said with a warm smile, cupping his cheek.
“You’ll always be safe with me, baby.” And he kissed you again. “How do you feel this morning?” He asked.
A big smile played across your lips, a feeling of warmth flowed over your heart, it was beating so rapidly you thought it might beat right out of your chest, and you desperately did not want that feeling to go away.
Yes, you loved him.
“Never better, my love. Never better.”

If things made sense (or I cared for the wrong things)
There would have been no "really evil classic Disney villains" in Wish. Simply because of the fact there were none. I knew nothing of this movie when I went to see it. I had seen a trailer but it was a really short one where I mostly learned that ok, a goat learns to talk, and it's meant to celebrate Disney 100, so y'know, a big deal. Should be great? Wrong.
There are multiple things wrong, under or over baked, and otherwise crooked in Wish, but in my opinion, one of the main issues is that they got me to care about the wrong things. For example, Asha's dad is a stranger the first time we hear about him, and Disney regardless of that tries to immediately use him to wring-out tears, and have Asha and Magnifico relate to one another at a point where the dad (Tomás, I had to google this) should already be an established thing in Asha's backstory. It is not, which makes the whole interview scene just go "ok, this is the scene where the characters can relate, makes sense, both people have lost things" but as the viewer it didn't affect me at all. It just gets the plot from point A to B. The Dad´s views and ideas were supposed to be a big deal that made Asha who she is and idk, explain the lore of the stars a bit? The quote is "The stars are there to guide us, to inspire us, to remind us to believe in possibility." But this does not come through at all. It just ok, meh, they relate, cute. The interview is going well I guess.
Asha's personality is also meh. It feels a bit like during entire movie there's too much shoved into her (I'll maybe make a post of this later). She is the quirky "adorkable" type like many other modern Disney heroines are nowadays. But the main points that she'd need to be to progress the story are that she cares for the people around her i.e. Rosas, she's a badass rebel if need be to protect them, and can be serious about it. She is a bit naive but that suits her, she is young. It could have made a great point for the "be careful what you wish for" thing I saw in one of the trailers after becoming obsessed pissed about Wish which would have been so cool and interesting as you know, the movie/Disney is supposed to be about wishes but nah that's too interesting. You just add also the awkward quirkiness which is confusing and clashes with her other more important personality traits. You can have a multifaceted character but with Wish's writing, the dorkyness doesn't work and also it's mostly forgotten by the end. She just has to be another adorkable Disney heroine, because I don't know. Meh, fine. I don't really care. (But she's main character! Aren't we supposed to care?)
But what the movie did make me care about was Magnifico's backstory. We see more things from his tragic backstory which is told to us right in the damn introduction (not the main characters backstory, mind you, but the "villains"), then again from his mouth in the interview scene, where we see him still affected by it ("brave man, built a kingdom, still sad/paranoid, but does good, okay cool" were my thoughts), and it is hammered to our heads again and again, when Magnifico almost uses the book: "all I do is to make sure that never happens again", "A king must be prepared to do anything to protect his kingdom" and even in the shitty song: "to this book I don't wanna be tethered, but desperate times call for desperate measures". It is not what an evil tyrant who only cares for his subject's adoration and his power would say. A real classic Disney villain would have had the twist that HE was the one who destroyed his home, the book was just a scapegoat, and he'd be proud of it. He'd say things like "I'd do anything to protect what's mine" or something similar which to the villagers and audience at first sounds like he's talking about Rosas, when actually when his true colours are revealed you realise he was all along only talking about protecting his power, his fame, and status. The book would serve only as a power-up when shit-hits-the-fan and would ultimately be the villain's downfall when he gets trapped in the crystal he himself made. Dark magic comes with a great cost, be careful what you wish for (the wish being more power). But nah, that's far too coherent.
(Meanwhile, compared to all these possibilities the main heroine is again just adorkabl-y silly, had a dad (wow who would have thunk it, basic biology), who had some ideas about stars. 'Kay, still not that interested.)
But no. The twist that Magnifico was actually evil didn't come. Instead everything in the movie made it clear he was driven by his past trauma, and a genuine will to protect Rosas. He makes a mistake, when he is scared to the point that he's not thinking straight anymore, and goes for the Big Bad Book. At this point I thought (since I didn't know he was advertised as a "true" villain) that ok, even if all the things in this movie did not make sense, at least there'll be a nice take home message for the kids that you can make mistakes and those can be fixed together, and the adults will see the darker themes of PTSD that it can make you do scary things, but that those can be overcome. RIGHT?
FUCKING WRONG.
What?!? Did I? Just see? Yeah, the guy goes insane (but that's not him, but the book), Disney Magic saves the day, the song kinda sounded nice, and then wtf? Uhh, guys? Did you forget something? The moral of the story is that you can do anything when you just keep on wishing and working towards your dreams, You're a Star!, but then you don't save the king? Even though there's the classic tease that "oh no, the book's spell can't be broken!" which obviously means it can be if someone had tried. The whole movie I've been mostly lukewarm about the main character, I hate the goat, and then the only guy I've been given the. Most. REASON AND OPPORTUNITY to care about is just locked up for apparently shits and giggles. Magnifico gets the punishment of an evil tyrant, and even his wife (who totally could have saved him) comes to rub it in his face! Yes, the wish system was flawed but even Magnifico himself clearly sees this (more on this to come, but 1. people only want wishes from him and he knows this 2. he knows wishes are important, quote: "they are a part of your heart!" and that's why he makes people forget them, because in his traumatised mind it's more important to have them safe, than potentially harmed by a bad wish etc.) and he doesn't deserve a presumed eternity in a glass mirror.
#magnifico_deserved_therapy_not_prison
For fucks sake. They lived happily ever after, except Magnifico because idk, fuck the traumatised guy in particular, I guess, even if he studied and made himself a powerful sorcerer despite of his fears, built a beautiful kingdom with his "loyal" wife, and yeah made a bit of a crooked wish system along the way which was bound to blow up in his face one day, but yeah, that's a good ending. Happy Disney 100 suckers, there's a movie, buy the merch, we don't care if it doesn't really make sense, lol!
I'm sad. Furious even. I was made to care for the wrong things, and now I'm disappointed.

I'm morbidly fascinated by those "quotes" blogs. Whenever one of them makes it onto my dash I often compulsively hate-scroll through it for a couple of minutes, and I almost always find that while *some* of the blog is made up of vetted aphorisms and statements by identifiable people, a LOT of it is always some sort of extremely clumsy platitude attributed to "Unknown", as if it's a piece of ancient folk wisdom--but on closer inspection it's barely meaningful, like the one above. What does that say, "things that are hard to do are hard when you do them"? Yes, it is literally true that difficult doesn't mean impossible, is that really useful to point out? I would even get this more if the quote were something like "Impossible only means difficult"; there ya go, there's a little chicken soup for the teenage soul type of mindbender for ya. But what we have instead is just a definition of difficulty with a list of tags longer than the two sentences themselves. Thanks a lot, real inspiring. And then some of the quotes laid at the feet of poor old Unknown are just something like, "All I need is a cup of coffee, my favorite sweater, and a dog-eared book on a rainy day," and you're like Is this really a quote? Is the idea of "quotes" still worth something if we just mean "anything that could potentially come out of someone's mouth"? If you gave any of the people who run these blogs a copy of Bartlett's it would probably blow their brains out of their minds.
So because I get obsessed with things I don't understand, I start thinking about who it is that cooks these things up. There's someone, somewhere sitting at their computer trying to think of "deep" things to say, things that fit a certain tone and pattern that targets "your loneliest elderly relative on Facebook", and then they just write them down and slap "Unknown" on the end like it's some kind of profound secret that the reader is fortunate to stumble upon. To me, some of the results are just word salad. Like I think I know how this one is going to end, but then:

Ignoring the stray hyphen...my "pure soul"? I guess this is one way of saying "it's what's inside that counts", but seriously, what the fuck. What the hell are you talking about. But I have enough self-doubt in my constitution to wonder if I just don't get something here; I start to have a waking nightmare that this is actually an unattributed verse from Rumi or some shit that I'm just too primitive to recognize or understand. So I go Google this, and of course I find 15 or so versions of this:
Tumblr media
And I'm back to trying to envision the culprit sitting at their computer trying to figure out how to sound like the oracle at Delphi real quick before their lunch break is over. What motivates someone to do this? Do they think they're going to get a book deal out of it? A lot of people will just do anything for attention; years ago I saw a post with this dry, formal caption about the domestic abuse incidents that led up to the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson along with regular pictures of her with VERY poorly photoshopped injuries. It was like...dude that is all a matter of public record, with real photos already in circulation, WHY ARE YOU FAKING THIS?? Maybe I'm just too much of an alien to understand why anyone does anything at all. But anyway, if this is too much negativity for you before 8am, try this version on for size, and have a terrific day.

people have been so mean about EP's looks and health later in life but something I loved in the movie was how it points out his voice. his voice was almost too powerful. even though he was suffering, he kept singing with all his might.
that part in the movie is when i fully break (if i can dream breaks me for different reasons 💖). that old voice rang out, and he sang with all his life. he is singing for his life. he's singing for everything, with everything he has. the film underscores this for us with such frankness and compassion. it was love. all along, it was love.
i have an excerpt saved somewhere about his voice and how he worked to keep expanding and improving it, how its tone got even more rich and full, the golden qualities it took on. since i can't find it right now and that's going to bother me, i'll use some others!
sherrill nielsen (the gospel tenor who sang backup for e with the imperials/voice) said it really well: "He got even more maturity in his voice as he got older; I was often amazed at his range, just as one singer listening to another. He could sing anything. I've never seen such a versatility, and in fact I don't see it today. Usually a voice can sing one way, but he had that ability about him, and he helped me to learn the importance of communication with an audience. He had such great soul. He had the ability to make everyone in the audience think that he was singing directly to them. He just had a way with communication that was totally unique."
if you listen to him sing from that later period, there are these aspects of his voice that go from like honey to thunder, bell to timpani. all the romanticism and sensuality from when he was young matures into that embrace of aching soulfulness, and yet he could still be sweet and light, and funny too. the spiritual songs feel even more inspired. the love songs more warm and yet sometimes more sharp-edged all at once, the robustness of his voice threaded through with tender melancholy beneath it. you said his voice was almost too powerful, and what remarkably softens its power is that infusion of humanity, hurt to humor. he might be too overwhelmingly powerful, except he's still elvis, and his gift was connection. the heart he laid into his music doesn't become more guarded, but less so. he's right there, giving all he has, and that's for us. (okay, the audience at the time, but it's still for us too.) he'd sing, and then he'd get that deceptively innocent grin and almost dare them - do you like it? you wanna hear me sing it better? - and then he would. through everything, whatever battles there might have been...music was the sanctuary to lay the armor down. he gave that with every part of himself and with such love for the people who'd rapturously share it with him and reach out for what he was offering. it's as though his spirit got closer and closer to the surface, and etched itself in every song.
these quotes are all sort of asides, that came up when i tried to google the actual thing i was looking for, but they're so <333
"I am reminded of a comment made shortly after the death of Elvis Presley by a musician he had worked with. He pointed out that despite an impressive vocal range of two and a half octaves and something approaching perfect pitch, Elvis was perfectly willing to sing off-key when he thought the song required it. Those off-key notes were art." - Patrick H. Adkins
"His personality was also extremely endearing, his interviews were very self-effacing, and he came over as gentle and was generous in his praise of others. He had a natural, technical ability, but there was something in the humanity of his voice, and his delivery." - Ian Gillan of Deep Purple
"The guy had a thousandth-octave range, and a variety in his vocal styles and approach, he could make more vocal tones, with just his voice, than a guitar player with 50 pedals and gadgets. If you never even saw the guy, you could plain feel, not just hear, the emotion and passion in his voice, and you are immediately taken in, one hundred percent." - Country singer Roger Wallace "He was the most commercially successful singer of rock and roll, but he also had success with ballads, country, gospel, blues, pop, folk and even semi-operatic and jazz standards. His voice, which developed into many voices as his career progressed, had always a unique tonality and an extraordinarily unusual center of gravity, leading to his ability to tackle a range of songs and melodies which would be nearly impossible for most other popular singers to achieve."
"Presley brought an excitement to singing, in part because rock and roll was greeted as his invention, but for other reasons not so widely reflected on: Elvis Presley had the most beautiful singing voice of any human being on earth." - William F. Buckley, Jr.
"The voice is so melodious, and - of course, by accident, this glorious voice and musical sensibility was combined with this beautiful, sexual man and this very unconscious - or unselfconscious stage movements. Presley's registration, the breadth of his tone, listening to some of his records, you'd think you were listening to an opera singer. But…it's an opera singer with a deep connection to the blues." - Jerry Wexler, co-founder of Atlantic Records.
"Elvis' range was about two and a quarter octaves, as measured by musical notation, but his voice had an emotional range from tender whispers to sighs down to shouts, grunts, grumbles and sheer gruffness that could move the listener from calmness and surrender, to fear. His voice can not be measured in octaves, but in decibels; even that misses the problem of how to measure delicate whispers that are hardly audible at all." - Lindsay Waters, Executive Editor for the Humanities at Harvard University Press
the quote i shared the other day, saying he could go from "nearly infinite sweetness, to ferocity, to spirituality, to tremendous power," it's extraordinary how accessible that sensation still is, how vibrant in recordings, studio or live, in film footage, professional or barely visible from old cameras. @joons (who probably could explain this better or add more to this than me!), sent me this the other night:
Tumblr media
it's like he existed to fulfill every purpose of what music is meant to do - thrill, inspire, mourn, rejoice, storm, caress, devastate, uplift - whatever a song could require, he'd meet it. it's why he was a rock and roll sensation and yet so revelatory with the gospel music too. it wasn't this separation of the profane and holy for him, it was ALL sacred in its own way. and as someone who believes music is a miracle and exists in many ways in a realm that's bigger than us (us not even being only humans! animals are touched by music too, for many reasons. it's beyond speech, beyond boundaries, beyond feelings we can form into words). it was all his soul reaching the souls listening. and nearer the end of his life, that took on richer qualities. i know my unabashed favorites are the american sound recordings, and the whole period from like '68-'72, where i feel like he was at that gorgeous cross-section between where he'd begun and where his voice would go, he's at this crackling range of technical strength and emotive finesse, but sometimes the music from later washes over me like a wave when i listen to it.
i talk a lot, but this was a perfect thing for you to send to me today, because we can look back and remember and celebrate this:
Tumblr media
i think about him saying he was just a little guy with a shaky leg, and the tremendous talent he honed so innately and beautifully, and the incalculable impact that had on the world of music, on countless artists, and continues to have to this day. an unchained melody.
he sang as he always did, with all his heart and soul.

2K Quotes & 2Mil Views 2 Week Celebration!
I've decided to run this celebration by birthday candle rules, and by that I mean y'all are getting two different sharing challenges and a QnA to grow on.
THE CELEBRATION IS UNDERWAY! Askbox is open for QnA until January 21st-ish and I'll be reblogging shit like mad. Go wild, my friends.
Now, if you saw my previous post about this, you probably know that I've got finals approaching (also holiday plans), so I've decided to postpone my engagement with the celebration until January 7th-ish. Technically, that means the 7th will be the "official" start of the challenges and such, but nothing is stopping you from starting "early" or "late" if that's your vibe. After the "official" start, it'll be 2 straight weeks of me violently reblogging challenge posts and answering QnA questions. The ask box, however, will only be open during that 2-week period, and after that it'll be back to our regularly scheduled non-submission period for inbox clearing.
So, without further ado, here's the plan:
IQG Inspo Challenge!
Inspiration has always been at the heart of the IQG. Originally, I made it to help prompt some funny scenes between OCs of mine and my friends, and, now that it's gotten more popular, I've always loved seeing what comics, fanfics, videos, and other artistic endeavours it's inspired in other people.
To participate in the IQG Inspo Challenge, try to find a new quote you like in the generator every day for 2 weeks and make something creative out of it. Make it big or small, make it in any medium, "miss" however many days you like: as long as you enjoy it, you're carrying the spirit of the challenge.
If you share your IQG Inspo creations, tag them #IQG Inspo! I'll be browsing the tag on tumblr and reblogging what I can during the challenge (and even if your post doesn't get reblogged, it'll still be cool to see a gallery of all the neat stuff people have made).
If you want to share it but don't want me to reblog it, that's alright. Simply tag your post #do not quote.
Program and Play Challenge!
To join the Program and Play challenge, all you have to do is share a project you've programmed under the tag #Program and Play. It doesn't matter if it's a WIP or had long since been finished, it doesn't matter if you're new to programming or a professional in the field. As long as it's an original project you've programmed and enjoyed, it's perfect for the challenge.
Now, you might be asking "what does this have to do with the IQG" and the answer is not much, really. Programming is just something I really enjoy and I want to encourage others interested in it by boosting their projects up. I'll be browsing this challenge's tag and reblogging what I can (as with the IQG Inspo challenge, anything you don't want me to reblog can be tagged #do not quote).
If you're new to programming and don't know where to start, then there's lots of programming sites out there with support for beginners such as Scratch, Neocities, and, of course, Perchance. The best way to learn programming is just to dive into it. Don't be afraid to ask questions, google answers, and try new things (worst comes to worst, Stack Overflow hasn't failed me yet).
Remember, very few people enter hobbies with a talent for them. It's those who spend time learning and exploring skills that are the most masterful of them.
And, last but not least, QnA!
As I said, the askbox opens on January 7th and closes after two weeks (January 21st) with anon questions active. You might notice I didn't put any specific timezones on this. That's because it's gonna be a bit wibbly wobbly as far as timing goes, but I'll be giving y'all an announcement post once I open it, and a last minute call an hour or so before I close it.
During this period, the askbox will only by open for questions and non-management related things. Any bug reports or submissions sent at this time will not be acknowledged since I'm still clearing out the current 1,964 items in the inbox.
In honor of Tumblr's long history of ridiculous asks, I'm not gonna put any limits onto the questions y'all can ask unless I have to. You can ask about the code, you can ask about me, you can ask about completely unrelated bullshit that you find funny, I don't really mind. However, know that this is all up to my own discretion. I might not take your question seriously. I might not answer it at all. It's (probably) nothing personal (unless you actively tried to send hate speech or something of the like).
I think it's important for people to feel heard and recieve explanations for why certain decisions are made, so I will answer most questions about the chat deletion if you ask them, but they will be tagged under #IQG chat so people who want to stick to the more cheery bits of the QnA can filter it out. I would prefer if IQG chat discussion is kept to the original post about it, but I understand that a lot of the chatters didn't have a tumblr, so this will likely be the only way many of you can voice your concerns. Keep in mind that all of the things I've said about the questions up until now still applies. I will still be answering them at my own discrection. You have all been very respectful so far and I appreciate that, but, to anyone who might consider sending in harrassment or something of the like over this, know that it won't bring the chat back.

hullo love. as i may quote les mis, Tell me quickly what's the story / Who saw what and why and where / Let him give a full description / Let him answer to Javert!, what is going on with the essayists/hbomberguy/plagiatists? im not familiar with that side of usamerican youtube game but im all for the tea
so hbomberguy is a youtube man (i am not an avid viewer but he is leftish and makes long video essays so hes PRETTY popular on here) the other day he dropped a long ass video about plagiarism on youtube, totally pwning an assortment of youtubers ranging in popularity.
among them, the most notable are illuminaughti, internet historian, and james somerton.
illuminaughti is/was a youtuber who would shift from popular topic to popular topic for clout. eventually she landed on video essays which she would churn out on the regs
she was/still is in a contraversy which started because she accused another youtuber of "stealing" her "editing style," because HIS editor asked HER editor how to do some fucking generic video effects. this, obviously, was stupid.
hbomberguy took the opportunity on twitter to point out her directly lifting words from a documentary she based one of her own videos on, without direct credit (it was just a fucking link to the documentary in a google doc in the description), thus making it appear as if those were her own words.
then, her former friends started calling her out for weird vindictive shit behind the scenes, but its 3 peoples word against hers and not interesting enough to be anyone elses business.
anyways, hbomberguy covered all her plagiarism stuff (she has done this several times lol) in further detail within the video.
the next one was internet historian.
you might have heard of him, he makes videos i think. (i am... less familiar with him lmao.) i think hes known for his distinct matpat-esque animation style and his collabs, making him pretty well respected among youtubers i think?
so he made a video called "man in cave" which was VERY popular. he went all out with the animation and told a vivid tale of a certain man who got trapped in a cave.
suddenly though, this VERY popular video disappeared without a trace. it had seemingly been taken down for youtube copyright reasons... as you can imagine this is very vague, and Usually when this happens its over some complete and utter bullshit, so people were inclined to side with him, yet, strangely, he made no efforts to rectify this "mistake" on youtubes part.... hm....
later, he silently reuploads it, unlisted. yet. somethings different.... this isnt quite the same video. the language has been changed in many places, the writing is significantly worse. some bits have been cut entirely. and in the description, he thanks a certain mentalfloss article written by lucas reilly for "inspiring" him....
upon a cursory look through the article, something becomes readily apparent. the structure of the youtube video, an hour by hour retelling- the vivid descriptions which made the original video what it was, they all originated in this article published years ago.
i cannot relay this without mentioning how much worse internet historians writing was despite it being stolen. see, he would embellish and change certain things to make it less blatantly obvious he was lifting the whole thing (including... facts about the story.... lmao) and he would do so BADLY. very badly.
hbomberguy went into FAR more depth about this, even doing side by side comparisons of the article to his video with animations pointing out the bits he altered.
but the video wasnt really about any of those people, they were just setting the stage. they were giving you a taste of plagiarism in action, how and why people do it, and how they try to cover it.
by far, the main event was a gay youtuber who talks about gay things by the name of james somerton.
im actually only like halfway through his section lol.
it seems to me that he plagiarizes every aspect of his videos, like he googles the topics he wants to talk about, finds an article, and then reads that but changes the words here and there.
the only original words in his videos that ive seen were REALLY odd transphobia and misogyny that he would pepper in or go off in tangents about. he misgendered two trans writers (Rebecca Sugar and ND Stevenson) and called becky abertelli straight, specifically calling them straight women writing about their cutesy idealized version of gay mens lives. actually fucking identical to the shit open transphobes say about transmasculine people.
whats worse is becky abertelli CAME OUT because she was forced to by people harrassing, doxing, and threatening her for the crime of being a closeted woman writing about gay characters!
after being called out multiple times (and sending his fans after the individuals calmly addressing his plagiarism) he started OCCASIONALLY using credit in the descriptions, or saying he "based" his work on theirs.
he doesnt do this when he thinks he can get away with it though
hbomberguy does these incredible visuals dividing up transcripts of james videos based on where each section was lifted from
thats as far as ive gotten anyways!!

from strangers to... friends?
nina zenik x matthias helvar
sinopsis: Moments after Matthias saved Nina from falling to an ice crevasse.
Or,
"Mr. Darcy began to feel the danger of paying Elizabeth too much attention." -Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice (A bit inspired by this quote).
a/n: English isn't my first language, i'm sorry if there's a grammatical error!
I'm back to my helnik brainrot!!!!!!! I hope y'all like this fic, the idea has being in my google doc for a long time and it's finally out!
read on ao3
As they walked to a safe place from the icy weather, he started to replay their recent interaction.
How he was so willing to let her fall to her death, as his people taught him, and he was determined to do so, until he saw her face filled with fear as she tried with every muscle of her body not to fall. She murmured ‘please’ as she fought for her life.
How his mind changed in a second and immediately tried to save her and not to kill her. ‘Why?’ , he asked himself. ‘Why did I ever do that?’ , he was a soldier trained to not fall for Grisha’s tricks… but there he was, helping her.
‘ Matthias Helvar ’ he remembered telling her his name… ‘How could I tell her that? That makes me closer to her… to her people’. And he remembered she replied with her name, ‘ Nina Zenik’. ‘And with that, she was closer to my people’ , he didn’t want that but at the same time, his intrigue towards her betrayed him .
“What is troubling you over there?”, her voice broke him from his thoughts. “Nothing”, was his first response, it was short but said so much to her. “I’m just trying to stay focused on the road”, and he was, between his existential crisis he was trying to find a place where he could make a bonfire. “Sure”, she didn’t buy anything he said.
She noticed the change of purpose as he extended his hand to save her, moments prior. She could feel the change in the atmosphere as he introduced himself to her, and the moment he didn’t let her freeze to death as he gave his fur coat to her.
She could still smell his scent on his coat. The cold has given her the privilege of it… or  the torment.
They didn’t know why they were so drawn to each other, when they met in the worst way possible… a Druskelle taking a Grisha to her death. But, with every difference they had, they felt so similar.
They both are loyal to their people, they would die and kill for them but at the same time, they’re questioning everything they thought about the other. How they were each other’s mortal enemies but when they were alone, they would take their guard down.
Matthias found the perfect place to make fire, someone else stupid enough to walk in this snowy mountain like them made a bonfire and the remains survived the cold and snow. There were wood logs big enough for them to sit in front of the fire, but none for the fire itself.
“Wait here, I’m going to find some wood to start the fire” he said, already walking away. “Matthias wait-”, Nina wanted to say something but his large figure disappeared before she could say anything.
She waited for him in full silence, her gaze was locked on the few trees that surrounded the area. But her thoughts were loud but not clear. She could feel his internal conflict building up and she wasn’t strange to the feeling. This wasn’t the first time she spent time with a Druskelle alone, but this time was different.
As much as she wanted him dead like his people, her feelings towards Matthias were positive. After all, he saved her and in a twisted way… she owned him her life.
“There you are”, she jokingly said as she saw Matthias' figure coming toward her. “The snow was ready to take my life for a second time”, a small smirk was seen on his face as he left wood logs in front of her. “And I wasn’t going to save you again”, his tone sounded serious but they both knew he was joking. “Your generosity is available once a day, got it”, she said. “Once every full moon”, he replied.
After that, silence ruled that moment of the night. She analyzed every move he made while struggling with the fire. How he would move every wood log in a different position than before, and how his face expression would change when he would move a heavier log.
Since the incident, Nina would come out with differing responses to her biggest question ‘Why did he save her?’. But her imagination didn’t come out with any good explanation.
Thus, she decided to break the silence to find the answer. “Why did you save me earlier?”, she also was looking for a change in his heartbeat, a change of his emotions towards her.
But she didn’t feel any change, he was calm before and after the question. As if he thought of this before.
Before he replied to her question, he finished lighting the fire and sat next to her. “Because you saved me after the shipwreck” he replied, looking directly into her eyes. Maybe his heartbeat didn’t change, but hers certainly did. She felt his gaze almost haunting her eyes, and the more he was looking at her the more she wanted to look away.
But she didn’t, she calmed herself before saying anything else.
“Thank you”, her voice was soft and he noticed. “I know it was hard for you to save a Grisha, you could’ve easily let me fall”.
“I didn’t save a Grisha, I saved you”, he emphasized. “And even if you don’t believe me, I wasn’t going to let you die. Not like that”, he finally looked another way.
“Matthias, I’m a Grisha”, she also emphasized. “You can’t separate me from my people. And I can’t separate you from yours”.
He sighs as his way of saying ‘You’re right’ without using words. “It’s just-”, he started to say but his emotions were bigger than his words. “You’re not like they told me Grisha were”, he looked at her almost ashamed of his words.
She finally felt his change of heartbeat as she took his hands, she could feel he was feeling the same way as she was. “And you’re not like they told me your people were”, she replied. They were between what they thought they knew of the other and what they’re actually like.
“And maybe that’s okay”, she softly said while caressing his hand. “They’ve said horrible things about Druskelle, maybe it’s fine you’re not a horrible monster” she laughed, making Matthias release a small laugh as well.
“It could help our friendship get to know Matthias Helvar and Nina Zenik, not the Druskelle and the Grisha, you know?”, she said, looking for confirmation. “Friendship?” he asked, almost surprised.
She just nodded, “I know you find me irresistible, but we have to start with a friendship, okay?”. They both laughed at Nina’s last words before getting in complete silence while watching the log get consumed by the fire. It wasn’t an awkward silence, they finally got comfortable with each other’s company.

not a request but a desperate search for a quote that i could have sworn i saw in one of your (incredibly beautiful, btw) web weaving posts — do you remember/know of the source of a quote that goes something like "you’re a better knife than you are a person"? i’ve been searching every version of it i can come up with and i cant find the quote or source anywhere
Okay, so I don't think I've used that quote in a web, BUT - I searched it up through google with speechmarks, no dice. Then I thought if you'd seen it on tumblr, it'd probably be found through tumblr, so did the old site:tumblr.com/post search trick (which is genuinely so much more functional than tumblr's in-house search function) and that popped up with someone's character inspiration blog!
Anyway, you remembered the quote perfectly - you're a better knife than you are a person - because that's the exact one they used for a character tag. I've sent the blog a message about it, and they're apparently active so I'm hopeful they'll get back to me. If I hear from them and they do know where it's from, I'll update this with their response :))
In the meantime, if you recognise the quote and/or know it's origin, please put it down in the notes for anon and anyone else who might be looking!

THE DOOR OF BLOOD AND HYPOTHETICAL WELL, EPISODE 13
Thank you for your immense love and support towards the blog! It's always great to read those lovely comments :) So, finally, we are here with the final blog of the year. I selected two haunted stories from my book of adventures for you people. Hope you will like it. Let's begin. A flawless half-moon floated in a perfectly blue sky (thank you for the line, Loveleen ma'am 😀 ) when I started to cycle towards a place called Khooni Darwaza (Bloody Door). 'Strange name', I told myself as I was following the road to Purani Delhi. I saw this beautiful quote beside a building it said
Tumblr media
I fell into the deepness of the quote and it stayed with me for a while. As I continued my journey toward the Khooni Darwaza my eyes saw something in the middle of the road; the more I moved towards it, it got bigger and bigger. As I reached the place I saw a big door that was beautifully engraved. The board near that place said
Tumblr media
(Heading- Bloody Door) I felt a great sense of satisfaction realizing that I have finally reached my destination. But as soon as I read the writings on the board my satisfaction turned into fear. It read that the Mughal emperor and the eldest son of Akbar, Jahangir killed the two sons of Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khana for being traitors. After the killing, the two bodies were supposedly left right outside the gate for them to rot and be eaten by birds and animals. Scared by these stories, I shifted towards the front of the door and saw this.
Tumblr media
The door gave a mysterious stare and the bars around the place were no less. After experiencing the horrors of the Bloody Door I moved toward the second half of my journey. The sign on Hailey Road indicated left for Agarsen ki Baoli. As I took a left, I saw one of the most beautiful murals.
Tumblr media
The mural was so so ravishing that I stood there and admired the art and the artist and thought about the inspiration of the artist behind this awesome mural. But then I remembered that I still had some miles to go. So I moved and reached this small gate that said Agarsen ki Baoli. As I moved inside I got shocked on seeing this
Tumblr media
The staircase was massive and the architecture was so perfect that I had to wash my eyes to believe that I was not in a fantasy world. To believe that I was not dreaming, I went towards the old broken mosque.
Tumblr media
The mosque had similar Arabic engravings to that seen in other monuments in Delhi. The awning of the mosque had collapsed and there were little to no cravings that left any marks imprints. As I was exploring the place I saw a cat going down the steps of the step well. I followed the cat down the step well and saw this
Tumblr media
I felt so small around the big staircase; the stones of the monument were telling a story of its past. I overheard a tourist guide who was telling his client that this place was a hub for traders and that they used to come here and relax for a bit.
Tumblr media
I sat down on the stairs and experienced a strange sense of silence- unreal silence the one that's difficult to express. To understand the place I googled it and once again I found out that this place is also haunted. One story of the haunting says that according to legend, many people who came here were often led to the water and felt like drowning in it. It was as if the water was calling them out to submerge themselves in it. There have been reports of suicides in the past.
Tumblr media
Many people who have come here have complained of being followed when there is no one around. After reading those tales the silence turned into fear and I left the place in one go. After having a fearful yet enjoyable time in the Boali the last leg of my journey was the charm of Delhi, the famous Wengerscafe.
Tumblr media
The patties were just out of the globe. It's ironic isn't it that the adventure that started with a mysterious fear ended with tasty patties?
Here's a small video
So with that, we end with the last blog of the year! I hope you liked this blog! Don't forget to leave a comment telling your reviews and suggestions.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
Until next time
With love

Overcoming an Art Block
UGHHHH!!!
Ok maybe you don't sound like that but have you ever felt frustrated because you don't know what to draw. I got you fam.As someone who always know what to write or draw I'm going to give you some tips that helped me and hopefully they will help you. So letssss goooo!!
Social media
Tumblr media
Come on if you ain't looking here then where were you looking? And no Instagram and Facebook aren't the only ones. I'm talking about Pinterest, Art Station, Twitter, should I continue??
Even with the controversial AI you can type in keywords into Chatgpt and they can give you a prompt to draw about, like how cool is that?
Read
Tumblr media
Uh Mcutie excuse me....read? Yes peeps grab a book! Mangas and Comic books are all over even if you don't read them you can browse through them or even just look at the covers and be inspired. Classical literature has some of the most beautiful pieces of writing inside.
Eg:("maybe it'sour imperfections that makes us perfect of each other." Mr Nightly from Emma a Jane Austen Story)
Try searching on Google by typing "classical literature quotes" maybe you can find a quote that resonates with you and who knows ding ding ding, you're inspired!
Watch Films/Cartoons
Tumblr media
Easier said than done I'm I right? What to watch? Come on guyyssss there's tons on of recommendations on Tiktok, #movierecommendations, watch a few of those videos and see if something stood out to you. If you're an anime fan like myself then you will have no problem in this department lol. (Drop some recommendations in the comments below.)
Touch grass

Yes you heard me doodle. Sometimes these doodles can turn out into something greater. My teacher taught us this method in school called "skating the page" granted this a warm up activity but sometimes you may find little deisgns in them. Another great warm up is drawing solid drawings this is great especially when you need practice on your form which leads me into another tip.

Hi.
Ok, this feels awkward to like, confess but I just read most of your F1 stories this week and I just wanted to let you know I love your writing. Yours are so different from other stories I've read, more realistic almost. It feels as something that could happen, you know? I wondered where you get your inspiration from? Are they all based off prompts? Do you have any tips for people who want to start writing?
Thank you!
This is too kind, sweets! Thank you SO much! 🥰 (If this is who I think it is, know that I saw all your likes coming in almost in real time and it made me so happy!)
To answer your questions - While I'm always on the lookout for a good prompt, they're not easy to come by (or maybe I'm looking in the wrong places 🤷🏻‍♀️). I did a few fics based off prompts but most of them find their origins in my crazy daydreams 😊 I also use Google Keep, where I have one list with quotes/situations/words I'd like to use in a fic at some point. But mostly it's just scenarios I make up that almost always start with the end goal and then I work my way back to see how I can get them in a situation where the end goal can be achieved.
And oof, I don't consider myself that good of a writer to give out any advice but if there's something I've figured out along the way is that it's important to write what you like. This might sound crazy but I tend to go back and reread my stories from time to time because ultimately I wrote them for me so they're exactly what I want in a fic 😊
Hope this helps! & I'm always here to bounce ideas around or beta if you'd like 😘

hi ok this is gonna be really damn long i think Very sorry in advance... so i recently got into bungou stray dogs and when looking around on twitter i saw someone recommend your fics as, quote, some of the best bsd fics ever written, and in the past month i have read a LOT of them. like, probably most of them. i have a folder in my google tabs for all my favourites, some of which include "light", which inspired so much kouyou + chuuya siblings thoughts in my mind, "growing back", which was just really nice and i generally really enjoyed, and "feet over harsh ground", which actually made me lose my damn mind over how good it was, both in premise and the carry out. your writing style is AMAZING and i have no idea where you get your ideas from because every one of the fics of yours that i read was so incredibly memorable and enjoyable that i think it will be a long time before i forget any of them, and btw i still have MORE i haven't read yet but i am planning to whenever i get the chance. but recently i started reading "build upon the ruins" - and oh my GOD. its four am as i type this, and i fully finished it about twenty minutes ago. it's taken me a couple weeks to read the whole fic in full because i've been busy with work and stuff but this morning i binged the last three or so chapters and i seriously cried so hard i thought i was gonna be sick 😭 like holy shit the emotional rollercoaster that i went through reading that was SO PAINFUL yet SO GOOD.... 73.5k words that i will never fully forget because it was so gorgeously written and beautifully structured that i actually feel sad that i'm not into the same things that you're currently writing for, whatever that may be, because i'd love to read more and more of your writing literally forever and be able to feel this same feeling over and over. every time i get into a new interest and eventually start reading fanfiction, i always think i've found That One Fic Writer that's made me feel a way i'll never feel again, and i think you've seriously topped them all with build upon the ruins. to the point where i searched up your name on twitter in an attempt to see if anyone else had felt this same pain over the same fic, only to accidentally stumble upon your actual twitter - i don't know why i thought you wouldn't have one, probably because you didn't have an ao3 (if you had your twitter or tumblr linked anywhere on your fic website i didn't see it LOL) [note from after me editing this ask - you do have your socials linked i'm just a dumbass -__-]. anyway i felt the need to send this long ass ask to tell you how your writing made me feel because it was just that utterly brilliant and i seriously feel like a different person than who i was before i read your fics 😭 probably a slight exaggeration but like i said it's four am and i am incredibly emotional over that fic right now. i don't know what else to say other than something cringe like "thank you for putting your writing out there for me to stumble upon years or months or whatever after you wrote it" or something like that LMAO... sorry for all this at once but i wanted to get all my thoughts out there before i went to bed and lost the feeling of having just read a really damn good fic. anyway cheers i wish you luck in whatever you're up to now BYE
slight side note - did not know build upon the ruins was a pacific rim au until after i read the entire thing. i have never seen pacific rim. i deeply enjoyed the fic anyway and will definitely be watching that movie whenever i get the chance
ANON... I LOVE YOU... i have been staring at this message all day incapable of formulating a reply because i'm so smug happy and flustered over it afgjhdfjkfd THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! it always makes me feel warm whenever people read my old bsd fics and tell me about it, i loved writing and sharing them so much and i know that a lot of people who follow me today did so because they read them at the time!!!
and build upon the ruins is a special one for me, i went quite literally insane the second the idea for that au popped into my mind and i barely slept until i finished writing it... it's so sweet of you to say all this and to take the time to message me! especially since i am actually re-reading it myself at the moment and i intend to run an edit of it soon (just fixing grammar/style, my habits have changed since 2017 haha). it holds a very dear place in my heart!! thank u guillermo del toro for inventing drift compatibility for soukoku
thank you so much!!!

The persistence of memory (inconsistency, subsistence)
This line often floats into my head with a sense of profundity. I know it’s the name of a Dali painting- the famous one with the melting clocks. People wrote that it referred to Einsteins theory of special relativity. When asked, Dali said it was inspired by melted Camembert.
I think I’m more in the Camembert camp- i find it easier to access and understand than space and time. That was something I found a bit exhausting about art college- on our first day in the sculpture department we were told that sculpture is about ‘space, place and time’, which was all very hefty. Would it have lent more weight to my work if the plaque on the wall referenced Einstein, rather than being upfront about the fact that I was tripping balls and eating cheese? (This is purely hypothetical).
Speaking of cheese, when we were in France and eating pastries, Molly asked me what the nicest cake I ever had was. I couldn’t just remember the nicest- I could barely remember any of the cakes I’ve eaten. Later, we went into a museum and looked at some paintings. I tried to remember feeling excited about paintings and remembered when I was a teenager and had seen a Dali for the first time. I can’t remember where that was though. And when I thought harder, I wasn’t sure if it was even my memory or the memory of a friend I had at the time. I couldn’t even tell you the name of the painting.
I’ve gone off on tangents before reading about the inconsistency of memory- stories of false witness testimonies and memory experiments. Asides from the practical implications it has in terms of the judicial system, I think there is a certain fascination with the subject that feeds into the cult of the individual- latching onto our memories as an integral part of our identities. I’ll quote Mishima in Kinkaku-Ji second-hand (because I first came across him in a Sylvain Tesson book) - ‘...What gives meaning to our life’s actions is fidelity to a certain moment, and our effort to make that moment last forever...’.
This resonated with me in the sense that I think a lot of the choices I make and the things I care about are silently governed by a sense of nostalgia- things that influenced me in my formative years. The Pinterests I save, the aesthetic choices I make. Some of these choices and interests can be clearly traced back- my most enduring interests have been those I’ve had since I was a child- like anime, art and nature. But this theory is complicated when you consider the fluidity of memory. Some of the ‘moments’ I’m attempting to replicate might not be my own moments at all but something I saw in a film, or something I told myself so many times that it coalesced into something more concrete. With the influence of media and the fact we’re exposed to so much information in a day, it could be considered a tragedy that increasingly, our memories are not our own. Additionally, we outsource our memories- into digital photo albums and archives, and Google means we don’t need to be able to recall specific facts and information. This circumvents the need to process memories, to integrate them into our schema. They become less a part of our inner world and more of a marketable identity- a series of experiences and sensations that can be encapsulated into a pretty photograph. Maybe I’m being cynical here but I’ve felt myself in the last few years, that I am experiencing the world in a more superficial way and I think this comes from the fact that I am bombarded with so much information every day and have less and less time to process it. People advocate for a mindfulness approach in allowing us to be more present, but I think an essential component we’re neglecting is also time to parse this information.
I try to allay any anxieties I have about this state of affairs with embracing the idea of the ‘hive mind’. I’m coming at this from a relatively uninformed angle- I haven’t read a whole lot about collective thought and how it might be integrated into the digital Information Age. Putting aside for a moment the unsavoury inequity inevitably wrought by capitalism, we can see social media and shared memories as a modern iteration of the fact that humans are ultimately social creatures. Social media is and can be a wellspring of creativity and, at the risk of sounding way too grandiose, acts as a placeholder for religion in secular society- that is the sense of connectedness and being part of something bigger. AI provides the potential to generate entirely new material from our collective efforts and creations (again, if you can put aside the economic implications this has for artists). All our individual thoughts and experiences are delineated into a scrollable consumable, which, via our engagement, feeds into algorithms which aid the creation of further content and clickables, a digital Ouroboros (again, with the grandiosity).
But now, away from the Borg and back to my own individual experience (because that’s why I’m keeping this blog?). A few years ago, I worked for a while on a vineyard in New Zealand. Initially I was working on the harvest- it was fairly monotonous, physical labour, but I enjoyed it. I think I once read in a museum some historic piece of anti-Irish propaganda- efforts to Google it yielded nothing, only some funny and kind of pertinent results- I’ll share them here. Anyway, this piece was of course written from a colonialist perspective and painted the Irish as dull-witted and suited to monotonous, laborious tasks. It crossed my mind in my enjoyment of the harvest work, that maybe there was substance to that theory. In general, I was living at the time in a way that might be more similar to agrarian communities from long ago- we went to sleep every night when the sun went down, rose when it came up and because there was no phone reception our access to technology was very limited. It was a social job and the harvest workers spent a lot of time chatting amongst ourselves but equally there were periods of silence while we worked. It was in these silent periods that I became aware of the fact that my thoughts were operating differently and I found myself often accessing my memories as a means of entertainment. I was recalling specific memories and information I’d forgotten I even had- like I suddenly remembered how to count to 10 in Slovene. These memories didn’t just exist as objective facts or stories or pictures in my mind- they brought with them feelings and sensations which coloured and enhanced my present experience of the world. I remember thinking about Wordsworth, and how when he found himself ‘in vacant or in pensive mood’, he remembered his daffodils and I realised what a source of consolation memories could be. I felt, I think for the first time, an appreciation of a sentiment often espoused by older people, that no matter what happens or who comes or goes in your life, you will always have your memories and now I’m kind of afraid that this is increasingly not the case.

i have a really quick question, mostly because as a casual t swift fan i keep getting the posts in my feed, but why are tabloids and swifties so focused ONLY on the taylor swift jet emissions?
i’m not saying we shouldn’t be bothered by her using her private jet so often, (we should be, god knows no one but rich politicians or popstars get the luxury to pollute so excessively) but where is this energy against other big producers of CO2 emissions?
and i don’t mean individuals!
a quick google produced an estimate that in 2021 alone, international flights produced about 384.5 million metric tons of CO2 worldwide, and domestic flights about 327.9 million metric tons. alternatively I’m seeing the 138 tons of CO2 emissions quoted for swift all the time.
not sure how accurate the numbers are, or if tons is the same as metric tons, (i have a feeling they’re not, but i’m american so who knows) but while swift is emitting more CO2 than us common peons, she seems to be contributing to almost nothing compared to the aviation industry as a whole.
obviously i know how important flight is for the world, and the number of people traveling on airplane is many times the one t swift that exists, so i’m not saying “oh man let’s stop calling on taylor to do her part,” that’d be ridiculous. while she is a billionaire popstar at risk of being mobbed everywhere she goes, and while if i were her i would probably use a jet as well, she should still know better than to use something that harms the environment so recklessly, especially when it’s done with the money she wins from all the money we give her and the example she wants to set!
but you know what we should do, besides hoping she tones it down to necessary travel or god forbid, fly commercial? demand she uses her own pull to do something we can’t—put pressure on the aviation industry as a whole!
taylor’s generating massive amounts of money for entire cities, not to mention fans that are flying in. when taylor speaks, swifties listen. so why can’t the opposite be true? while she’s touring, i don’t know if she’ll really leave the jet behind, but god can we do more than all the posts of “oh i’m so disappointed with her” or “I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan, but these numbers make me really uncomfortable.”
I’m glad it makes you uncomfortable, so why not use that discomfort to make demands instead of posts meant to call her out that she clearly isn’t reading because she’ll likely have her team file it all under “hate”? maybe this is me being too hopeful she’ll see it, and maybe this is more fatigue with posts with the same narrative but if we could generate the same energy to call out the aviation industry that is used to call out swift, that would be amazing.
you could even do both in the same breath! Creating your post about her jet? Let’s have it link to the reality of the aviation industry’s pollution and its effects on air quality and all communities, not just global warming. characterize taylor and her jet usage as a symptom of a greater problem and apathy—the individual or a small group of individuals choosing their comfort, money, and unrealistic lives, over the health and safety of all of ours.
now returning to my regular merlin programming
nvm i just had to add. this was partially inspired by a post i saw which ended with the sentence “imagine being that rich and that fucking careless” or something along those lines. and i just want to say, YES, OF COURSE SHES RICH AND THAT FUCKING CARELESS. SHES A RICH WOMAN WHO LIKELY HAS ENOUGH MONEY TO NEVER WORRY ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF HER ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIONS. being rich does not give you care or compassion or intelligence. some of the most heartless and out of touch and dumb people i have met have been rich because that’s all they’ve known. And i don’t mean to word that in the “oh poor little rich boy/girl,” i reserve that for fictional characters (like kendall roy whose actions only affect me emotionally), i mean to word that in “don’t expect better,” just because someone is wealthy or in the limelight or in some position of authority does NOT mean they think they have the obligation to be morally righteous or well informed or environmentally conscious. you might think they do, especially if their fame is built on your support, but they likely won’t, because for them, the source of their success likely isnt you.
so use your support to do something, and see if that will finally sink it in for them.
