wip wednesday excerpt! it's funny, folks seem to enjoy reading wizard theorizing (as do I!), but godddd I hate writing it. wdym I have to be clever and thoughtful and scientific? I have a film degree. my school had one math class total and it was literally called "Math."

unfortunately it does come with the territory, so here's a bit of a discussion regarding popular theories about the boundaries of the planes, feat. not one, not two, but THREE wizards:

disclaimer: this is all based on my experience and im sure there are other users with better tips than me so DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR GOSPEL BAHAHA

(also I'm going to assume you reached out to me because you want to start a kpop writing blog and not smth else, so all these tips are obv specific to writing blogs. I also don't know how experienced u are w Tumblr so I might say some obvious things,, sorry if you already know most of these things!!)

anyway tumblr is actually really intuitive and after about two days I honestly think you'll get it (probably even within a day tbh). here are some quick steps I feel like make sense in my mind:

find a url (if you're starting a kpop writing blog,, most people seem to include the name/a reference to their bias but in my case i kinda just went w my name and played around w it until I liked it 😭 you can also search for "url ideas" in tumblr if you're having trouble!!) keep in mind you can literally change it at any point in time so don't worry about choosing the -perfect- one

set up your blog! most of the time, people have a navigation post (the pinned post where everything is linked so readers can navigate ur blog easily), a masterlist (a post that shows everything you've ever written), a wip list (a post that lists all your works in progress, so fics you're currently writing and want to publish in the near future). additionally, people have a post about themselves (like an about me section with blog rules and stuff. this is my old old one). personally, i have a carrd right now (this is mine here) and you'll find other users have one or the other!

set up your navigation post: hyperlink honestly everyone's different (btw don't worry about taking these tips too seriously bc honestly u should do whatever you want on your blog — it's yours after all!!) but I think most people include their name, pronouns, age (sometimes), timezone (sometimes) and hyperlinks to their masterlist + wip list.

how to hyperlink im sure you've done it before for school, but it's really easy! here's a demonstration — this link will send you to my navi, and this link will send you to one of my fics! to do it, you just need to copy the link of whatever post you're trying to hyperlink (three dots in the top right of the post -> "copy link"), typesomething, double click onto the word you're trying to link it to, tap the 🔗 button, and copy the link into that! (in this example, it'd look like this: something.)

how to make ur navi neat/pretty personally, I used to just search for moodboards (on tumblr) and pick 3 photos that I really liked (obviously give credit to whoever made the moodboard!). what I have now is just something that I designed but you can have one or the other, it doesn't really matter! other tips I think I'd suggest is to keep it as simple as possible; you can embellish it later but make sure it's easy to read and people can see all the links! I really like searching for "symbols" on Tumblr, and then there are cute lil symbols u can add to your post :) or just use emojis! or dashes! this might be a little ahead, but I have a tutorial on gradient text if you really care, but maybe focus on the base first :D just as an example, my moot @.hazyyu has a really pretty navi!

apply the same principles to your masterlist + wip list + about me just search for symbols, add whatever images you think look pretty, search for "line breaks" on Tumblr and there are pictures of links you can use to divide stuff up! making a carrd is easy but time-consuming (just search on YouTube "carrd tutorial")

there are other caveats to a writing blog, but those were just the basics! here are some other things I thought I could mention:

a permanent taglist is a list of people you tag every single time you publish a story/update it (for the purpose of them being notified every time you post) — sometimes people will ask u to "add me to your permanent taglist!" which just means tag them every time you post a story. personally, I have a google form for anyone that wants to be on the permanent taglist, but I didn't do that initially — I used to just wait until people sent in an ask asking to be on it and then I'd have a separate post with everyone who did. for example, this was my old one! doesn't matter whichever approach you do ^^

people also organise their blog via the hashtags I do this too! it's so much easier that way :)) for example, every time I get an ask, I tag it with "#ask" (umm a lot of people are much more creative w their tags but personally icb lmaoo — here's an example of my friend who used a different tag and it's really pretty!). if you want help with organising your blog w tags, here's an explanation I wrote a while back!

if you want help promoting your work, you should consider joining a few networks! these are basically big big blogs that reblog all your work so more people can see ur stuff ^^ here are some of the ones I'm a part of: kflixnet, enhanet, k-labels!

you'll meet other users along the way and call them your moots; most of the time this just means you interact w them a lot via asks/dms. personally I'm not really active and I kinda find it hard to keep track of a lot of moots so I stick to myself and interact w anyone that comes my way!! but bae u can do whatever u want!! go find blogs of people that seem rlly cool and send an ask and just see where it goes; just don't badger people, be nice and I think you'll pick up on sm things naturally!!!

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

i was gonna be like "oh i always give them a happy ending" but then ao3 told me — that's not true! Yellow was a lil deleted scene thing i did abt simon buying his yellow breakup stationery, so obviously the ending is big owie. and my humdrum fic, Hunger of the Shadow... i mean its a humdrum fic lol. idk which is angstier, its different types i guess.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

i got a comment that bothered me once that was like sort of judgmental abt a bit of my plot, and they were like "you should have done __ instead." and i was like ummmmmm... but not HATE i suppose.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i wrote smut on my own once (Want to mark you up). i mostly wrote this one to capitalize on the horny momentum of In black ink my love may still shine bright, in which simon and baz go out to a bar, etc. also i wanted to make a joke about lamb hahahah.

then i did a few smut pieces with some pals via Frantic Fanfic. One of them, A for Effort, is actually technically my second most-kudos-ed fic, but it didn't feel right to claim it because Kay (xivz) did the heavy lifting on that one!

What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?

i have a lot of wips that im determined to do, but it might be a while. i have one wip that is heavily rooted in a new england summer setting that i recently moved to my Graveyard folder on google drive because i was like... i don't think i can write this as well now that summer's over. the first sentence in that doc (which is entirely scrambled outline) is "this fic should smell like sunscreen." i will probably revisit next summer if im still around because im super invested in it. it's a childhood friends>rivals>friends>lovers with copious new englandisms, ghost hunting, simpard, explorations of guilt that are like super catholic (again: hello new england), queer identity stuff. i think shepard is a trans dude in that one too which was fun. idk!! this answer got long. it makes me more certain i will return to it lol.

What are your writing strengths?

hmmm probably like - earnest descriptions of emotion? like, if the character is going through something, im going to take you through allll the stages. i personally think im funny, which is what matters to me as my own reader lmfao. and i think i like to break them out of the usual settings and plotlines! i really like setting as a literary tool, thinking abt the obstacles that come wherever your characters are. im in the ideas stage of a road trip fic and i think that's going to be a really good way for me to flex there.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Sometimes dialogue, sometimes not. Elaborate plots that can't be tied to character development. I've said this before, but I find my writing to be quite plain in terms of syntax/word choice/etc... this is usually fine but sometimes my writing can get very like "action, thought, action, though, action, dialogue." idk. i dont know that i have a word for this, am open to suggestions.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?

pshhhhh....... i like really love everything ive published for the simon snow series so idk. im most emotionally invested in my multichap, Nothing Equals the Splendor. But also i had the most fun writing both Jump Up, Chosen One! (where they get stuck in a mario game lmfao) and Light Me Up (my stoner fic). theyre all my favorites for different reasons lmfao.

2. Work you are most proud of (and why):

i’m definitely super proud of Keep Me Up All Night because it was a BEAST and for a while, i wasn’t sure i’d finish it at all. but i did! i’m also very, very proud of the Bobby/Luke fics in the fanboy universe: A Mouth That I Would Kill To Kiss and Stubborn, Selfish, Easily Jealous. both of them were very cathartic to write and it gave me such an incredible chance to explore some darker themes and really dig deep into emotions, and i just really enjoyed that part of the writing process.

3. Work you are least proud of (and why):

honestly idk but what came to mind was Jealousy, Jealousy because i think it’s the most ridiculous thing i wrote this year and it was kind of done on a whim and not planned super well. i might be alone in this but i think it’s the most ooc fic i’ve written for Luke and Reggie so that kind of bothers me as well but i posted it anyway lmfao

4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:

this is a line from the onlyfans au that @romantiquesnouvelles​ commented on when she was beta reading it for me and tbh i think about it a lot.

He keeps his mouth so close to Reggie's neck that Reggie feels every word he says as if Luke's etching it into his skin.

5. Share or describe a favorite comment you received:

this comment single-handedly kept me from deleting A Mouth That I Would Kill To Kiss. i’ll never forget it @where-you-go​ 💛💛

6. A time when writing was really, really hard:

right after that stupid fucking blacklist came out. i almost gave up then, but i’m glad i didn’t. y’all are stuck with me, better deal with it ✌🏻

7. A scene or character that you wrote that surprised you:

it feels like a million years ago now but when i first started writing Can I Call You Mine? it was meant to be endgame Luke/Reggie. but as i kept writing, i realized that i loved Caleb too much to not have Reggie end up with him 🥺 i definitely didn’t see that coming.

8. How did you grow as a writer this year:

i uhh think my word count speaks for itself 😇 also just like, genuinely not giving a fuck what anyone else thinks and writing exactly what i wanted to write.

9. How do you hope to grow next year:

branching out! writing different genres! we’ll see what happens.

10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):

genuinely, everyone who complimented my writing this year. especially after the blacklist backlash bullshit. i really needed to hear that people enjoy what i write, regardless of the rating. thank you 💛

addiction and grief. it’s hard, but it’s worth it to push through.

12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

don’t compare yourself to other writers. especially not me. i’ve heard a lot this year about how people wish they could write as much as i do, but you have to understand that this isn’t normal. i have a ridiculous amount of time to write that few other people do. just do your best because that’s all anyone can ask of you.

13. Any new projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:

WELL my wip folder is officially empty which is wild! i finished all of the wips i was working on this year, which means starting tomorrow i get to dive into my “eventually” folder and start tossing out new ideas (of which there are many, as you all already know.)

17. A trope you’ll never, ever write for. Cheating. I wanted to write a Oneshot for Charlie from Marriage Story, but as soon as I found out he cheated in the movie I deleted the Wip and the Idea from my brain. lmfao

31. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them! So many 🥺 Since 6th grade I wrote my own little stories, mostly slice of life or horror stuff. I have like one Star Wars OC which I created for my first ever Kylo fic. And the only one I posted about is Tara the Witch who has to handle Demon! Co-written, it’s definitely mallverse, which is I think the reason most writers definitely hate us because it’s very long and there are a lot of tags lmao. The problem is that every tagged character HAS shown up in a significant fashion at some point so we can’t just...untag them! It doesn’t update weekly anymore because we’re exhausted by life lmao so at least there’s that???

As for a multi-chapter fic that was just me, I don’t tend to do that so much, so actually it’s say you will, my 3-chapter Endgame fix-it where Clint dies instead of Natasha and Natasha and Laura have a past. It actually has over 1000 hits which is very exciting! I feel like it’s...niche in a way that is frustrating but understandable lol. I put a lot of my heart into it and some people really liked it, so that’s gratifying.

favorite story you’ve written so far:

Co-written, I think our SHIELD Dollhouse AU is very underrated for the amount of work we put into it. Author bias evident here because I love Dollhouse warts and all, and it’s a lot of fun translating episode plots as well as the general trajectory of the show into stuff that will work with SHIELD characters. We don’t just rewrite episodes, we really try and rework them as needed. Also it features both Skimmons and my beloved rarepair Bobbi/Kara, though of course they won’t get together until later.

Of my own stuff, I’m still really really proud of the AU where Kara Palamas didn’t die. I think that was a pretty severe misstep of the show and I think I did a good job of fixing it. (I haven’t forgotten Kara, promise!)

fic you were nervous to post:

lolololol I wrote some uh. Terminator pornography last year and. They are very porny! I had co-written a bunch of smut obviously, but that was the first time I’d posted like, PWP all by myself on purpose??? and that was TERRIFYING. Also I was very nervous to post the Engame fix-it because that was my own personal goodbye/tribute to Natasha.

how you choose your titles:

They are always either song lyrics or jokes (such as Three Lawyers and a Baby, my Daredevil Accidental Baby Acquisition fic). My WIP docs are always titled either obvious shit like “RoseJannah horse girls” or memes like “what if we belonged to a fire cult and we fucked haha just kidding unless...?” or “Morgan has two mommies.”

do you outline?:

B and I typically outline for the co-written fics, although it’s more often chapter-by-chapter outlines since that’s how we write them. On occasion we’ve fully planned multi-chapter stuff out in advance but that’s less common. Oh and the one-shots are nearly always outlined as well, just to keep ourselves organized.

When I have written planned multi-chapter fics in the past I have used outlines - particularly for the Kara one and I had to do that for the SHIELD Kill Bill AU because I was trying to follow the format of the movie. For things that are allegedly supposed to be one-shots I almost never outline, which turns out to be a terrible idea when they inevitably balloon beyond my control and become 45k like say you will. That one, I wrote out a list of scenes I thought needed to be in it and then I wrote about 75% of those scenes and then I wrote a bunch more scenes I hadn’t planned for. Don’t be like me, kids!

the fandoms are as follows: doctor who, avatar: the last airbender, pokemon black and white, harry potter, harry potter. They are all older fics of mine, especially the doctor who one! phew, what a trip down memory lane lol.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I do my best! Sometimes I forget for long stretches of time, and then in a flurry of energy I respond to a big load of them. But I think it encourages community, which in fandom is really all we have.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

i’d say one of my fremione fics, the liar and his lover. I am definitely prone to angsty writing above any other genres, but this fic definitely hit a level I don’t typically dare approach. still, even as the years have progressed, i really do continue to hold this fic near my heart.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

because i don’t write a lot of feel-good fics, it’s way easier to pinpoint a fic with an overall happy tone and ending! personally, i believe the happiest ending i’ve ever written is to my fic the sweetest rewards. it was definitely solely for my own enjoyment and had no intention of being sad, and i think the joy i had while writing it showed.

Do you write crossovers? If so, What is the craziest one you’ve ever written?

I used to write a few Disney crossovers, and I think one of them is up on ao3, but honestly, the one and only crossover that I’ve written that comes to mind even 6 (six!!!) years later is a captain america and narnia crossover i wrote that centered around bucky barned and susan pevensie. the premise of bucky and susan is actually super interesting to me, and i always meant to write another fic for them, but time passed and i never did.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

one time someone commented on a fic and told me that toph and sokka wouldn’t have pet names, which like, okay i guess? but as a whole no, i typically don’t get hate. if i did though i’d probably treat it like i treat everything else on the internet -superficially. 

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

i do, but not often. I started more recently! i have two explicit fics, and three fics that are mature. the M rated fics more just ~imply~ sex, but the explicit fics are, well... explicit about it, lmao. the two explicit fics are definitely porn with feelings, and have just been me exploring and bettering my skills in the sex writing department. one of them is a tokka fic, called lazy sunday, and the other is a maiaang fic, called a better companion.

ooof this is such a HARD question! i’ve always loved tokka, since atla’s original airing. fremione has also always been close to my heart! i have many more pairings i love, but let’s just call it a tie between those two lol

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

lmfao my pokemon black and white fanfic, truths and ideals (and the fallen in love). i left it open for a second part, but then i was like “eh, it works by itself too” and never went back to it even though to this day people still comment begging for a second part. it’s the chaotic energy for me lmfaoooo

What are your writing strengths?

i’d say my attention to the details of a setting (like a room or a person). i recently wrote a fic where i described aang’s tattoos in vivid detail, and i’m really proud of the explanation i came up with for how they just disappear in some places. i also have been told i translate emotion well into my writing without characters having to explicitly say what they’re feeling, which is good, because i think it’s rare for folks to actually come right out and express themselves.

What are your writing weaknesses?

while i give a lot of attention to a setting or a person, my attention to detail when it comes to dialogue and action is weak. i also am not the best at transitioning from scene to scene, most likely from the fact that i usually write fics that have long breaks of time between each moment.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I don’t really do it in any languages other than English or Spanish. Even in Spanish I’m wary, because it’s such a rich language with different dialects. I speak El Salvadoran Spanish, which is virtually the same as Honduran and Guatemalan Spanish, but differs hugely from Colombian, Cuban, or Mexican Spanish (for example). Therefore, I’m always a little scared to write dialogue in Spanish even though I’m a native speaker, just because of those huge differences in dialect. And when it comes to other languages, I pretty much never do it.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Pokemon, lmao. It was a truth or dare fic series that I cowrote with my little sister.

What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

worship the flame. it was like making a daydream your reality. i had spent countless hours just thinking about the concepts, and then one day after talking to some folks in the hive mind server, sat down and penned the whole thing in one sitting. not just a favorite, but THEE favorite.

hi!! so i saw a couple other writers on here do this (the one i remember is @soldouthaz lol hi) and i thought it would be fun to do even tho i didn’t get tagged [aka, i do what i want >:)] ((also ps sorry this is late))

2020 was an incredibly rough year for me, which made writing/creating even harder. soooo here’s my self evaluation on the dreadful year lol;

4. work you are most proud of (and why):

i would have to say “hath made thee a sinner”. it took me FOREVER to write, mostly because 1) i wanted to get my own coming out story right, i wanted to share my experience in a way that also made it a good read, and 2) i was writing about three sensitive topics; Christianity, physical violence and coming out of the closet, and i wanted to be sure i didn’t get those things wrong. louis and harry’s coming out in the fic slightly relates to my own, but i wanted it to be relatable to others who’ve gone through the same thing. ((fun fact: the speech harry makes is 90% copied from my own coming out post on Facebook LMFAO))

5. work you are least proud of (and why):

it’s not that i hate “my beastly”, i just wish i started it’s execution better. it’s been an idea of mine for several years, one i started writing on wattpad and then abandoned for whatever reason. i have yet to complete it, and i wanna go back and re-write the entire thing, focus more on character development and world building (which i feel are lacking severely in my beastly). i also want to change the god-awful name that 15 year old me thought was a good idea.

6. a favorite excerpt of your writing:

i have a lot of favorites, but this snippet from “there’s blood on my tongue” was a fun little bit to write. it was kind of comic relief during an uncomfortable scene/chapter:

A loud bang on the door awakened Louis from his thoughts. He watched as Ralph walked over to the door, “Probably my Roger Taylor lookalike of a landlord demanding I pay rent a day early.”

When he opened the door, none other than Lindsey Allen barged through the barely filled apartment, her eyes red, “You!”

Louis swallowed, “Hi?”

“Don’t “hi” me, you little shit,” Lindsey growled, “How the fuck are you so relaxed, so calm right now?”

“How did you find my apartment?” Ralph questioned as Lindsey vibrated with anger.

7. share or describe a fave comment you received:

this comment from “there’s blood on my tongue” SENT ME. i don’t get comments often so when i do it’s always so exciting and i love reading and replying to everyone. honestly, every comment i get always warms my heart, they’re all my favorites, but this one definitely made my day when i saw it ♡

8. a time when writing was really, really hard:

tw // sexual assault, mental illness, PTSD

like i mentioned earlier, this year was a rough one. i got sexually assaulted on a tinder date in january 2020 (i was struggling with accepting that i’m a lesbian and decided to go out with a guy who i thought was nice), and in october 2020 i was coerced into sex with a guy who was trying to turn me straight. so ... those two things were like the cherry on top of an already shitty year.

after the january incident, i admitted myself into a psychiatric hospital after not having been back for 7 years. i was diagnosed with PTSD (along with my other issues i was already aware of lol) and it’s definitely caused a bump in my life.

to answer the question, writing the smut in “there’s blood on my tongue” and “i’m so tired” was incredibly difficult for me. i would get flashbacks while writing a scene, have panic attacks, and delete and rewrite in a vicious cycle until i wrote the bare minimum requirements of smut without hurting myself too badly, haha. i’ve never had an issue with writing smut until now, and i’ve been working on getting better at it and becoming comfortable with the idea of sex/smut again.

9. a scene or character you wrote that surprised you:

i cant say that anything i wrote surprised me, and to be honest, i’m a little disappointed about that. i write what i’m comfortable with, what i know i’m good at, and i would like to explore different tropes and au’s this new year. i wanna get out of my comfort zone and take risks in my writing in 2021

10. how you grew as a writer:

i’ve definitely grown in how i write romantic relationships/smut. when i’m not writing fanfiction, i’m writing historical fiction that doesn’t involve romance. i’m not perfect at it yet, but i’m getting there !!

11. how do you hope to grow this year?

as mentioned in previous answers, i’d like to get more comfortable with writing smut. it’s not that i don’t want to write smut and i’m forcing myself to and thus causing unnecessary pain to myself; it’s as if doing so is helping me heal from my trauma— and it’s FUN to write !

12. who was your greatest positive influence as a writer?

i would have to say anyone who ever read and commented and gave kudos to any of my work ♡ comments and love keep me going and make me excited to share more with the fandom :D

13. did anything from real life show up in your writing?

absolutely! i think that tends to happen whether you intentionally mean to or not. “hath made thee a sinner” was my coming out story with a dash of fiction, i wrote the beginning scenes of “warm” (the descriptions of the night time) based on my time in NYC, and so many other tiny little things. it’s actually kind of fun to add those little easter eggs that no one but myself will get haha

14. any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

PLAN. YOUR. STORY. making plot points has helped me immensely as a writer. i used to free write everything but it made me overwhelmed after a while and i would abandon the wip. by planning out your story, it helps things go smoothly, and it’ll be easier to catch any plot holes you may have. it doesn’t have to be heavily detailed; in fact, i don’t like to add too much detail in mine since i usually think of little things to add as i’m writing ! whether you’re an experienced writer or new to it, planning things out is essential, in my opinion.

15. projects you’re looking for to this year:

i really really really wanna be apart of the BLFF this year! i cant think of other projects that happen throughout the year at the moment, but i wanna join as many as i can !!

My main crew and main series, a lot is a big WIP right now as I’m slowly redoing the first book and all the lore. Why? I love torture. Book is fantasy type but I won’t specify what.

Lacie, the protagonist. God tier idiot, bisexual bipolar depressed MESS, insomniac, former theater kid, doesn’t know what she wants out of life but currently it is not This(plot of book). Hot headed, impulsive, crude, rude, Mommy IssuesTM, would rather be taking a nap right now, rules are made to be broken, absolutely fucking FERAL, more bags under her eyes than the airport lost and found. 5’5, 130lbs, Aries, age 18, white as shit like literally the whitest human you have ever seen, strawberry blonde hair in a 2011 Hayley Willaims haircut with long bangs, the darkest brown eyes you’ve ever seen that stare directly into your soul. Lanky, no curves, body of a 12 year old boy but works out so she can and will kick your ass and thats a threat. Not human?

Josh. Soft boy, smart, Lacie’s cousin and only friend for like the first 18 years of her life, autistic anxious mess who’s special interest is anchient egyptian history, is in honors classes, despises math, passes out when his girlfriend looks too cute, just needs a hug. Likes building his own weapons that no one else knows how to even use, generally non-threatening but can get scary if needed. 6’4, 140lbs string bean man, Scorpio, age 179 but looks early 30s, I know I said Lacie is the whitest human but he’s even paler like a literal sheet of paper with scandanavian roots/ancestors were vikings or some shit, blonde hair styled like 2013 Brendon Urie lmfao, light crystal blue eyes. He’s a vampire and was born one.

Danielle. Tiny, sweet, queen of girls supporting girls, comments on all her friends instagram posts with 20 emojis, LOVES fashion and has a wardrobe that would make anyone jealous, oozes feminine energy, only child and parents are in love still, gets exactly 8 hours of sleep each night and wakes up looking like a disney princess. Just because she is small and cute doesn’t mean you should underestimate her she WILL fuck your shit up. Quiet when angey which is terrifying. Josh is her bf and she loves him so much but also loves teashing the shit out of him. Legally cannot cuss, polite, used her high heels as a weapon once, speaks like 5 languages because studying them is her hobby, gardens, hugs everyone. 5’0, 110, Taurus, age 18, mixed (half french-american, half Korean-american), glowy skin always, PETITE frame aka the friend everyone can pick up when they hug, long past her waist curly brown hair, bright green eyes. She’s not fully human as she has fae blood in her and this gives her the ability to talk to and control plants. Flower crowns for everyone

Becca. Theater kid who would die to sing in Wicked and has the vocal range to do so, cannot wait to graduate and go to her dream college which she got into and a scholarship, closeted lesbian bc her whole giant family is extremely catholic and she feels like not dealing with it, “no boys allowed in bedroom” rule is her favorite joke, chill, middle child of 5 siblings and just wants some peace and quiet for ONCE. Her fashion sense is “I’m dropping subtle hints I’m gay but only to other gays”, has a black belt and took self defense classes. 5’6, 145lbs, Virgo, age 18, Latina (cuban and mexican mix), darker brown skin with light freckles over her nose, athletic build, eyebrows on POINT, bright caramel eyes, short light brown hair cut in a bob, has a tiny nose stud, always wears a blue friendship bracelet her gf made her. Anika. Calling her a bitch/slut is a compliment, bisexual, a bit of a mean girl but she grows out of it give her time!!! Is always Too Much, the horny friend, favorite color is red so thats almost all of her outfits, loves to show off her body as much as she can because she’s hot and knows it and thrives in her own confidence. Her mom is literally like Regina George’s mom from Mean Girls but married a rich man 20 years older than her, Anika doesn’t know her bio dad but thats fine neither does her mom and her step dad is nice and does his best to be a dad. Becca’s gf, always hanging out at her home so Becca can get some quiet because Anika’s an only child and has a pool. 5’9, 135lbs, Gemini, age 18, white, long layered dark reddish brown hair, teal-blue eyes, swimmers body type (I normally do not mention bust size but she would want the internet to know she was blessed with big bahoogles so there you go), can sprint in heels. Half mermaid (boy was that a surprise considering her mom doesn’t know who her father is LOL)

Rex. Nb uses they/them he/him pronouns but honestly will respond to any, goth lite, only attracted to men and ace, can read minds so knows all your secrets, mischevious little shit, great friends with Zander and enjoys his dumbass thoughts and that he’s basically a human version of Jackass, wears too many rings, goth boots for kicking and fashion babey, always has the freshest memes and will not hesitate to roast in the group chat, hangs with the girls most of the time. Chaos god who loves making art, be gay do crime, skateboard and spraypaint. 5’8”, 165lbs, Leo, age 18, Native American, masculine frame, dark brown skin, blue eyes, firetruck red shoulder length hair that’s usually in a ponytail, knock-off gucci sunglasses just for judging their friends. Has magic in their blood so not entirely human and can cast spells and shit (don’t roast me its a wip and I’m doing my research)

Sam. Boho goddess, aromantic, makeup and nails are always instagram worthy, quiet and stoic type but losens up around close friends, Rex is her best friend, has some trauma and doesn’t want to talk about it, emotionally numbed out a bit and wants to purely vibe. Has seen some of the worst parts of humanity and wishes she hadn’t, finds no point in being bitter or resentful though because that won’t change anything, loves cats and once she moves out shes adopting one or three. Has wine aunt energy. 5’4, 200lbs PLUS SIZE QUEEN, Scorpio, age 18, Filipino (her parents are immigrants fun fact!), really olive skin sometimes has a grey/green tinge to it, dark brown almost black shoulder length hair, gold-hazel eyes. Sam’s the victim of a family curse that requires her to consume human hearts to survive, she can transform into a pretty scary looking being and uses this curse to hunt down pedoph*les, r*pists, murderers, and abusers. The less often she feeds the less human she looks, hence the constant grey/green tinge to her skin. 

Andy. Baby of the group, must be protected at all costs, 100% didn’t sign up to be in a friendgroup of 90% monsters but highkey loves it, trans, bi, anxiety MAXED, just wants to draw comics and cosplay spiderman, has to babysit his two younger sisters a lot because his parents are....not great, and as a result now knows all the lines to Tangled and The Little Mermaid. Big nerd energy, has to draw on everything including homework, gets inspiration for comics from his friends, awkward and socially anxious, drinks way too much tea and will accidentally steal your pens. Fears include: crowds, thunder, tall angry men, tiny spaces. Just trying his best. 5’2, 100lbs BEANPOLE BOY, Leo, age 16, white (irish and scottish roots), freckles absolutely EVERYWHERE, orangey red hair thats in desperate need of a haircut, chocolate brown eyes, braces, chronic nail biter. Human and kinda wishes he wasn’t.

fandoms: just downton abbey at the moment! in the past: les misérables (rewind like 5+ years) homestuck, harry potter, twilight, maximum ride, whatever the fuck, i discovered ffn at like 8 and that was a bad recipe.

number of fics: published on ao3, 35 for downton abbey and ~50 for les mis. 

fic i spent the most time on: honestly i have no idea. i don’t really have a way of measuring that, especially with downton abbey because i’m basically just constantly writing and switching between google docs... i can say however that   strange how I fit into you (there's a distance erased with the greatest of ease) and like foals, unsteady on their feet were both written in intense fever dream like circumstances where i just worked on the one thing for hours on end.

fic i spent the least amount of time on: same as above? i’ll say vulnerary just because as far as i remember, it was in my head and then it was published, just a very breezy writing experience. i wanted it to be up by christmas and i actually had to stop myself from writing some stuff though lol. (in retrospect, wish i hadn’t done that.)

longest fic: the in progress thomas/richard accidental-erotic-novel when to my soul, the body would say. it was supposed to be like 10k words and 3 chapters, and now it’s going to be 11 chapters and approximately 100k words, so, i underestimated to say the least.

shortest fic: i write drabbles so like... yeah lol

fic i’d rewrite / expand on: lmfao like all of them? i rewrote ywntmha and i still want to keep going in and fixing stuff, so, womp womp there; i’m in the process of a what we must to get by rewrite/major edit (so no one reread it!!!!! it sucks right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). i would LOVE to do more with vulnerary & that’s kind of what i’m most itching to get to but i’ve also got uhhh unfortunately lots of things in progress and i need to brain dump before i get around to that.

He's also absolutely dripping with not-from-around-here, and when he gives Thomas a once over it's with a very familiar look in his eyes.

Wishful thinking, maybe, but he has an air of something more than new in the Big Apple, so Thomas shakes his hand when it's offered. "Thomas Barrow."

They've somehow managed to be the only lone men left in the place; the bar stool next to Thomas's own was the last one open.

He hasn't had anything to drink yet; he'll humour his new friend until he has.

That or until he knows more.

Phyllis jumps.

When she turns around she sees it's Thomas, of course it's Thomas, but did he really have to sneak up on her like that?

"You frightened me," she says, accusing. She sets down Her Ladyship's dancing shoes and lets her hands fall to her sides, idle. She doesn't want to dignify the remark with a real response.

"Door's wide open same as always," he returns, smirking, and he leans against the frame. "Maybe you should've been paying better attention."

"To the door?"

"I do," self-righteous as ever, but these days it doesn't bother her...All the same, she raises her eyebrows. "You weren't in the brushing room yesterday."

Paying attention to the door.

"Can't watch it when I've got my back turned, have I?" He shifts back and forth on his feet, turns to look toward the passage, and she wonders if she chose the wrong thing to say. "The royal people've made a mess of the cupboards," he adds lamely. "And Mr Carson's not gonna put things back the way I like them…"

Which doesn't explain why he and Mr Ellis went from one foot apart to five when she entered the room.

"...but yeah, it's understood some places, isn't it, most of the blokes who get very far in service are the type not to marry." He paused. "Makes folks more accepting than they'd be otherwise, I reckon, if we're a devil they know."

"Most," Barrow repeated, incredulous. Richard swallowed, uncomfortable; his hands were looking for something to do again and so he let his left fall back to the gearshift, preparing. "You come from a very different world than I do, Ellis, I'll say that."

But he didn't, and that was the real tragedy.

"Same world," Richard murmured. "Different parts of it."

"Wish I'd seen your parts, then."

"Yeah, me, too."

They fell silent.

The road was different at night, as all things were — he'd not driven in Yorkshire since the war, and he was lucky to be doing so again under the circumstances. Lucky that skies were clear and the sun was out, that everything to be seen could be, and that it was summer and the night wasn't pitch black and dreary.

Beside him Mr Barrow was staring out the window, head to the side, hat in his lap. He was still full of nerves, so much so that Richard felt he could feel it, radiating like heat from a fire.

"What a shit year."

"Seen worse."

"And?"

"Well, we got through this one same as all behind it," says Richard, and then he sips at his champagne. He's smiling, just a little turn at the corners of his lips and a hint of something in his eyes, but enough for Thomas to know he believes the words coming out of his mouth, same as always. "We'll come out the other side of the next; you'll see."

Same as always when it comes to things such as this, at least.

"Nothing's ever going to fuck with your optimism, is it?"

"What has the army done to your sweet mouth," Richard returns, grinning, now. He touches his thumb to Thomas's lower lip.

"My what?"

Richard leans forward to kiss him, but Thomas pulls away, laughter bubbling up in him. He's a little drunk, hasn't had anything but champagne and wine since dinner some hours ago, when he didn't eat as much as he might have. It's a choice he'll regret in the morning, but it's already been made. No use taking it too seriously at the moment.

"You'll have to wait," he tells Richard, as sternly as he can. "You'll have to wait…" He looks at his wristwatch, squints at it. "Three minutes."

"I don't think that's the tradition."

For some reason this strikes him as the funniest thing he's ever heard said in his life.

thank you @typewrxter for the tag! ((thank you to everyone who has tagged me lately, i know i haven’t responded to a tag game in so long...)) putting the game under the cut! 

1. What’s the first thing you think about when you write? [Plot? OC?] characters, definitely. no wonder my plot never seem to work; i get maybe a name, and a quote, and a vague idea of their ambitions, and then i set off! 

2. What’s your favourite genre to write? fantasy, probably, simply because I don’t think I’ve written much other original fiction that wasn’t in some way fantasy. 

3. What’s your least favourite genre to write? Anything romance-based. Reading it is fine, but when it comes to writing it.... oof. 

4. What other platforms do you use to publish your writing other than Tumblr? hmm. I don’t think I do! I used to use Wattpad, but I quit for a variety of reasons. 

5. What/who inspired you to start a writeblr blog? Good question. I don’t remember, actually. I think it might’ve been @/inkstay for posting prompts, and then I found the ‘writeblr’ tag through others like ‘writing’. 

6. What’s the favourite line you’ve ever written? you cant just ask that ahhhhhh I don’t think I have a lot of specific one-liners? OK i looked thru some stuff and here’s three (3) sentences: 

Frostbite can kill, just like fire can. It can shut your very soul down, until you are reduced to nothing more than a teeth-chattering, finger-twitching mess of a human. Your fingers and toes will go first, then it will slowly creep up your body like a swarm of ants searching for food.

7. Out of all your OCs, who would you like to meet the most? Tyren. Tyren, because they’d be a cool person to chill with, I think. Also the rest of my OCs are. very high-energy and I don’t have that much energy lmfao

8. Angst or fluff? Both? Both is good. It depends on how I’m feeling, I guess. The best is probably angst w a happy ending. 

9. What do you use to write? Google Docs. Sometimes a notebook, but not very often. 

10. What inspired you to write in general? I have no idea. I’ve been writing since I could read, I think, so it’s hard to pinpoint what exactly made me want to write. I think media I’ve consumed was definitely a big part, though--I remember writing fanfiction when I was really young, and seeing things like cartoons and whatnot definitely helped me realize that, y’know, things could be created and imagined. 

11 bc I missed one earlier: What are the most important elements in writing? Little-me would hate this answer, but motivation. Whether it’s fluff for the sake of making yourself happy, or something you dislike, or whatever, there’s gotta be a reason why you’re writing it (and if you’re sharing it, why you’re sharing it). I think so long as there’s something you’re writing for, or something you want to write about, it’s Cool and you can do it. I guess? Is that a cop-out answer? 

Anyway, story time: I was like, seven, or something, and my family just watched Coraline. Spoiler: I hated it. I was terrified (and rightly so!). So my mom asked me & my brother what was the moral of that movie? and I was like, I dunno ‘cause I was probably going to have nightmares for the next month, and was pretty bad at critical thinking. My brother gives some sort of answer that was better than mine--and I don’t remember it, oops--and my mom said something along the lines of everything has a moral or something referring to media like books and movies or whatever. And little-me was like nooooo that sucks I’m gonna write a cool book with NO message at ALL >:( so. 

Obviously, you can tell how that went.
