Resident Evil 7 and Mia's secrets

(Oh, did you think I was done talking about Mia? Not even close! >D)

Coming into this fandom late, I was surprised that popular fanon has it that Mia never does come clean to Ethan, post-RE7. Sure, RE8 depends on Mia not having told Ethan he died in Dulvey, but that has nothing to do with her own past with the Connections (and far more to do with Ethan's own denial, but that's a whole other thing).

Myself, I’d taken it as given that the scene where Ethan learns the truth must have just happened off-screen. Because, disappointing as that omission is, the whole damn game is leading up to it.

And having replayed RE7 lately, I realised there'd be no better way to explain my take than to catalog every time the game spells out to us that Ethan knows Mia’s keeping secrets and wants answers, and that Mia herself wants to come clean.

Heck, it’s just about the very first thing we learn about them.

“Ethan... You were right. I did lie to you. I shouldn’t have, but…”

Ethan's not actually stupid, and Mia's secrecy has obviously strained their marriage for some time. And as soon as Ethan finds her, he’s asking questions.

Here, he’s mostly asking who did this to you; it's way too early for real answers. But then Eveline takes control, shit goes down, and next we see her, it’s in her recorded message from the “Mia” video tape.

“There’s so much you need to know.”

When Ethan finds Mia again under the old house, he’s angry and has every right to be, and he doesn’t pull any punches.

“I always wanted to tell you…”

But Mia’s memory’s still a mess, and Lucas interrupts. Ethan’s next chance to ask questions comes in the boat, and he wastes no time.

“You had something to do with this, didn’t you?”

Mia’s a little more defensive here, but she’s not lying about the holes in her memory. The game’s gearing up for the big reveal anyway, and the writers aren’t about to let her spoil it early.

If you choose Zoe instead of Mia, Ethan spends the boat ride asking all the same questions, only louder.

“I knew Mia was hiding something.”

But in the end, what do we get?

Whoever you choose, Ethan only gets a few brief moments with Mia after she frees him from Eveline’s mould, and no explanations are offered. But if you do pick Mia, then we end with Ethan flying away with her in the helicopter, saying only, “Mia's back and she wants to start over,” and I’m left going, wait, what? Haven’t we skipped something here?

In defence of the fanon consensus that Ethan never finds out the truth, that does seem to be the ‘canonical’ intent ‒ at least inasmuch as there's this one throwaway bit about Mia not wanting Ethan to know buried in a bonus text file only available with this one overpriced DLC for RE8. That’s it, that’s as much explicit recognition as this thing ever gets, one way or the other. And fucking hell, but that's a let down.

Even if we assume that Mia’s desire to come clean goes away once her memory comes back, why would Ethan just stop asking? He’s been asking questions the whole damn game – was clearly asking questions long before the game began! Knowing that Eveline was controlling people doesn’t explain what Mia had to do with it all. Now he’s suddenly all, ‘killed the bad guy, saved the girl, everything’s fine’? Was all that ‘a door closed’ bullshit supposed to be him accepting he’d never get answers? Why?

There are workable ways to spin Ethan never finding out. You could suggest he just accepts that Mia’s memory is gone (hell, for all we actually see of the ending, Mia genuinely might have lost her memory again after Eveline sucked her back into the mould). After all the trauma Ethan’s been through, you could also suggest he’s gone directly into denial, refusing to face anything that might threaten his ‘happy ending’ with Mia. You could even suggest that that bit with Eveline saying 'I can make him love you' is her actively wiping Ethan's suspicions away. There's some lovely, subtle horror in any of these possibilities ‒ I would genuinely love to see all of them explored in fic! But none of them actually come through in the ending we get, and that omission is the single biggest issue that makes that conclusion to RE7 unsatisfying to me.

The whole damn game has been building up to the big confrontation where Ethan finds out the truth and (eventually, if not immediately) finds a way to forgive Mia, so we can still have our happy ending. As much OTT hate as Mia gets, the game is consistent in portraying her as someone who is painfully aware of how bad she’s fucked up, regrets it, and is committed to doing everything she can to protect the man she loves from the fallout of her mistakes.

I cannot overstate how willing Mia is to die to save Ethan, from the very moment she realises she's infected. She does die to save him if you choose Zoe over her. It's so much of why I ship them do hard.

But most frustrating of all, denying Mia the chance to come clean denies her any chance to explain herself. How did she get involved with the Connections? Did she know from the outset who she was working for? Did she genuinely buy into the idea they were finding ways to win wars without losing soldiers on battlefield, that the human casualties of all their work was worth it? If not, why did she keep working there? Was she slowly frog-boiled down to the deep end, did they have dirt on her, did she fear they might kill her if she tried to leave? What excuses did she make to herself as the months or years went on?

It's possible Mia’s the kind of hypocrite who doesn’t care about the human casualties of her employer, just as long as she and hers are okay, but nothing we see from her sells me on that interpretation. And even if she ever was, it's even harder to believe she's still that person after all she's been through.

It aggravates me that the games never gave us answers, not just because I want explanations that cast Mia in a sympathetic light, but because not giving us answers leaves this huge hole in her character. I'd even take explanations that cast her in an unsympathetic light, as long as it all ties together.

It irritates me even more because, even if Capcom wasn’t up for giving Ethan and Mia the big emotional confrontation they deserved, the solution was so simple: let Ethan find Mia’s diary on his way out of the ship. The whole goddamn franchise is filled with diaries and documents where characters lay out their backstories and motivations in ludicrous detail – why does Mia never get one? Just give us a handful of entries dated over the years, laying out her own feelings and anxieties about the job she’s doing. It would’ve been so easy!

It irritates me nearly as much that, even in the few corners of this fandom sympathetic to Mia, no-one seems to be very interested in answering these questions in fic or shared headcanons (and if there are examples out there I don't know about, please do link me to them!) How much did Mia know about what she was getting into when she started working for the Connections? Was it the job she kept telling herself was just until she could find something better, only for that ‘something better’ to never come along? Did she have stains on her record that made it hard to find another job? How much of her lying was a misguided attempt to protect Ethan, and how much was simply about protecting herself? There's so much to explore here!

This is also where I mention that I've already put my money where my mouth on this one, and written up my own take on Mia's backstory, and how Ethan might have found out the truth. You don't have to agree with my version, of course ‒ I mean it when I say I'd love to see other people's ideas too. Heck, I'd even be up for versions where Ethan ultimately can't forgive her, just as long as people come at it from the angle of looking at Mia as a character, not just a one-dimensional-villain.

But of course, I'd still prefer to think about versions where these two do find a way to make it work. It takes a lot to make me ship het this hard, but these two stealth-badasses have pulled it off with style.

its time i talk about the person who left a dent on me

the worst part of my trauma when it comes to it being connected to people i was once close with is that my perspective of what makes of them reminders of them (i do this to anyone im close with- whether it is a symbol or a certain appearance or trait or event)

little bit of serious talk here folks, so i apologize for the unexpected. hope you have the filters.

for most of my internet life, it was almost only me. completely unfiltered. came to deviantart first. became popular at an early age because of what i was doing in the fnaf fandom- it was not good for my mental health.

my groomer has a sona that never changes by design. he's always depicted as an orange fox with black long hair, black beanie and striped jacket. he likes fps games, especially the resident evil series- having associated me with Mia from resident evil 7. he likes fnaf (we met through fnaf... while i was like 14 i think- while he was 9 years older than me). he draws well... i guess. in pokemon form, he would be a jolteon. i would be a pansear. he would be the fox. i would be the rabbit.

as a child i was very impressionate, overly emotional, and cringe (ofc). i would be best friends with my groomer after finding out we shared many common interests and kept talking to each other about it- and then later fess up i have romantic feelings for him.

this would have been the opportunity for him to back up and say no.

but he didn't say no.

we continued off and became a couple. not many people batted an eye on how questionable it was for a 15 year old to be in a relationship with a 24 year old. almost nobody, save for a few concerned friends (and one stranger on Transformice) who i ignored unfortunately, talked it up with me to leave him. i held our relationship as a sort of defense mechanism. i relied on him to make me feel happy. i did a lot of things with him, and including those of the unsavory before i became of age. (i ever regret doing them- but how would i have known- i wasn't the adult here. he was.)

oh and have i mentioned he said the (un)iconic "you're pretty mature for your age." to me

you know whats one of the funniest weirdest shit about our relationship events was? he would show me this club penguin vid where there is a troll making crude remarks and harass someone (presumably a kid). that brotherman bill cp video. he would recite and memorize the song while blindfolded. ironic how he turns out to be in the end.

the wake up call was when he retweeted nsfw of an underage fictional character. seeing that purged my stomach.

yes. it was nsfw of a fictitious minor that was the nail to the coffin. nothing else. i was so delusioned. so troubled. i couldnt see anything else problematic until that happened.

it was so hard for me to let go of him. thankfully i had friends who comforted me and stuck with me through the whole way through. i was on my bed crying.

we've been in close contact for 5 years. i was convincing myself to stay on a doomed relationship because i didnt know what to do- i was already broken and unwell. i was very co-dependent (and i think some of those negative traits still follow me to this day- learning how to get out of that though). my groomer has left a large gap of my mind when we broke off- i revolved so much stuff around him.... and i forgot a lot of memories because of the trauma- taking even the happy unrelated to him ones with it.

i cared too much. and as someone who draws fast- you can imagine how much ive done.

my old files are infested with his likeness. i know i can just delete them but theres so much. so many. it is utterly revolting to see it all and the memories that come with it.

but as time went on, im starting to care less and less about what has happened between us. i am still traumatized of course and a lot of the negative things followed me, but i am healing somewhat and thats what matters i think. most of the things ive associated with him- the connection is fading. i have separated fnaf from him. i no longer associate orange foxes with him. i am comfortable drawing characters in black beanies.

if there is anything i should be grateful for, is that im no longer with him and im happier with someone else. im thankful for the friends who have helped me cope out of that shitfest.

if you know who this person is, i advise you not to witchhunt and harrass him. i dont know what hes doing and honestly i dont give a fuck on how he's doing. he should get help honestly. it is me, myself the victim, who has the say on the matter- and my say is to leave out of his sight.

if you are a minor and someone older than you does these similar things to you, please let your parents and friends know immediately. please be safe.

if my groomer ever reads this, somehow, then to him i say: i am not afraid of you and i do not care about you anymore.

Funny thing about you mentioning Ratchet not liking anything non-Cybertronian, both Autobots and Decepticons got off lucky with a mostly normal Earth. I know a lot of different fandoms where Earth is so much more chaotic.

There's Kaiju No.8 with kaiju attacks being a very normal occurrence. Unlike Pacific Rim, the true source can't be reached, come in various sizes from human to skyscraper, there a good chunk of species settled into the wilderness, and the technology developed to handle these giant monsters are human sized exosuits that pack similar power to the Jaegers. Bots on both sides definitely have trouble since any kaiju living nearby will go territorial mode on their afts.

We got Resident Evil where viral threats are a very constant hazard. Cybertronians shouldn't worry about getting infected by mold/parasites/viruses that often cause these outbreaks. The concern comes from the monsters it spouts as some animals and humans don't just turn into simple zombies. A few have become kaiju sized monstrosities while some develop powers such as near Magneto level magnetism. If Smokescreen was squeamish with normal organics then he will absolutely hate this.

Then there's One Piece with its very diverse species and far greater oceans. We got literal sea monsters big enough to eat a bot whole to places with giant beasts or vicious flora that will can destroy boulders. Humans here being the most unpredictable threat as there are a large chunk who can obliterate mountains with sheer physical strength. We also got giants, dwarves, beast men, mermaids/merman, and even tribal angels that are just as dangerous. Not even gonna touch the fact there's sea devil enchanted capable of going living creatures super powers but can potentially give sentience to inanimate objects. Imagine the Allspark turning into a deer that can obliterate someone all because it got near such a fruit.

Plain ass earth is more manageable than these other options.

You get me.

It's also why I love thinking about an Earth where mythology, folklore, and urban tales were real at one point.

Mankind would have lived among gods and monsters and strange peoples, so thinking about all those implications, relationships, and roles Man would have shared with such beings is really fascinating, especially when humans are strange creatures themselves.

So that would also mean there are still places available to find them...

Imagine if they landed with the SCP Foundation? Or Nightvale? Supernatural? The universe of Old Gods of Appalachia or xxxHolic? American Gods? Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, or the Ancient Magnus' Bride? The Marvel/DC universe? Danny Phantom, Generator Rex, A Certain Scientific Railgun, or My Hero Academia?

And then add the tidbit that Cybertron and Earth are long-lost cousins!? Oh, the absolute pandemonium that would happen with a cyberization in TFP or Bayverse!

UHHHH NO CLUE!!! I’ve been TOLD it’s how I characterise my characters and how I write dialog, but I think the easiest thing for ME is describing scenes so I dunno!!

Mystic’s Musings: New Warriors, the Animated Series

Hey, y'all.

Now that I got the ball rolling on this site, I want to start sharing all my other thoughts and ideas not related to Earth-93 (Though, in the case of this one, it very well might be incorporated into Earth-93 sometime down the line. We'll see). And I figured what better place to start than with the project that not only predated Earth-93, but might have been my earliest, most committed attempt at a fanwork ever: A treatment for an animated series based on the underrated Marvel super-team, the New Warriors.

HISTORY

First, come context, as there is a chance a lot of you might not know the full story.

The New Warriors first made their debut in 1989 in a two-issue arc of The Mighty Thor, where the young heroes sprang into action to assist Eric Masterson in a brawl with the Juggernaut. They would get their own series the following year, developed and written by Fabian Nicieza and drawn by Mark Bagley. Comparisons to the Distinguished Competition's own band of young superheroes have been made over the years, but more than a replication of George Perez's iconic New Teen Titans run, Nicieza described the Warriors as more of a hang-out group who sometimes fought evil and even saved the world: "The New Warriors isn't an official group with a rule book and charter and the like. They're more of a club for super-powered teens. So if Darkhawk wants to hang out on a Friday evening and talk about his powers, then he'll stop by the New Warriors' crash pad."

While the original series had a fairly solid 75-issue run, any attempts afterwards to reboot the Warriors have struggled to find any footing, up to this day. I'm sure you are all well aware of the infamous backlash for the pitch of the newest New Warriors rebrand back in 2020, but you might be surprised to know that was merely the tip of the iceberg for the team's bad luck in continuing their legacy. If not the whole "Snowflake & Safespace" debacle, you probably know of the Warriors as the reckless, fame-hungry super-team who provoked a supervillain into committing the Stamford Incident and kicking off the first Civil War. That and the entire reality show premise of that run was but one of many attempts from the late 90's all the way up into the present to relaunch the team, sometimes with a few founding members but never a full-on reunion, and all have had middling runs if not preemptively cancelled altogether, as was the case for the 2020. This bad luck extends even outside of published comics, with a Squirrel Girl-staring New Warriors live-action series getting canned before it really got off the ground.

The Warriors have existed in this strange comic-book limbo where they can never quite catch a break, yet continue to have consistent enthusiasm backing them to try again a few years down the line. The original run concluded before I was even born, so I was exposed to and became endeared with the Warriors retroactively. Going back to my senior year of high school, I was obsessed with shows like Young Justice and Spectacular Spider-Man. Around the same time, I had come upon the story bibles for Gargoyles and Batman: The Animated Series online, which gave me the drive to try my own hand out at adapting a comic property in the framework of an animated series as a writing exercise. I was too intimidated at the time to write for a big name such as Spidey, not feeling my skill and familiarity at the time was up to the task. I then thumbed through my school library’s copy of the Marvel Encyclopedia, where I first came upon the Warriors. Operating in their own little bubble, not too terribly tied to any major characters or events, they seemed ripe for adaptation, and I slowly collected the original run on eBay. I read the entire first twenty-five issues over one weekend and was hooked. To this day,  my friends among fandom spaces know me as the resident New Warriors scholar and defender.

Much like the Warriors themselves, this project has had many stops and starts since its inception. A lot of thought and effort put into it, but never really at any semblance of completion, and almost always back at a time where I was too comfortable with sharing my works with others in the first place. At best, it was more of an idle project to tinker with on my creative off-days, such energy would shuffle around to other endeavors, including what would become Earth-93. But in my boost of confidence with my writing and just wanting to make a habit of getting more material out there, I decided to dust off all my notes and give it a more proper shot. Shout out, by the way, to @spiralcass​ , whose own #New X-Men: The Animated Series project and minimalist screenplay format lit a fire under me to revisit a similar project.

If this pitch is well-received, it will become the first of a two-part entry; the second of which I will get more in-depth with recurring and supporting characters, as well as an outline to what a figurative first season of storytelling would play out as. But before we get to the cast, allow me to set the stage:

SETTING

The wider world the Warriors live in is early 90's Marvel, full stop. I would like to feel as though we have progressed past the point of making fun of Liefeld's art and can appreciate the quality content in the supposed Dark Age of Comics that existed amid the admittedly still quite embarrassing material that grabs most people's attention when looking back on that era. The Warriors are absolutely an era highlight, and as plotting and research developed the figurative show slowly evolved into a love letter to the Marvel canon as it existed in the early to mid 90's.

That's not to say the art direction to this figurative show would reflect this period or any particular artist, though I would absolutely preserve various designs and specific status quos as homages and signifiers. Reed Richards is rocking a fisherman's vest. Ghost Rider is burning a blue flame. The Hulk can be seen sporting a black tank top, and seems to have gotten his temper under control. Spidey is zipping around in the Ben Reilly suit (Is it actually Ben? We won't know, this isn't Spidey's story). Et cetra.

There will also be two major events prior to the events of the series which will significantly shape the wider world:

OPERATION: GALACTIC STORM

As the Kree-Shi'ar War begins to encroach into the Sol System, the Avengers bring on every active member they have and split into three teams. Two will enter space and sneak into both sides of the alien war to try and diffuse the conflict while one stays behind to protect the Earth. It is a prolonged effort out in space, where every hero fights and negotiates with everything they have, and it all ends up doing nothing when a bio-bomb is released that decimates the majority of the Kree race. Not too long after the heroes discover much to their horror that the bomb as well as the war itself was orchestrated by the Kree's leader, the Supreme Intelligence, who deduced that a mass culling of its people was a necessary action to jumpstart Kree’s stagnant evolution. 

This revelation shook the Avengers to their core, and while some just wanted to go home, others refused to leave until justice was served. This faction of Avengers, led by Iron Man, stormed the Supreme Intelligence's base and killed the being in retribution, while the opposing Captain America-led faction stood their ground. The heroes returned home splintered, and returned to find the Earthbound team having fallen into dysfunction.

All of this would have happened less than a year before the Warrior's formed, but it would still radically reshape the superhero community. Cap and Wasp remain leaders of the Avengers proper, holding down a new, more oddball team as many veterans stepped away following Galactic Storm. Some joined Iron Man's Force Works team in California, who took a more proactive mission statement to their duties rather than primarily intervening at the moment of crisis. Others had taken up employment at the recently expanded Heroes For Hire, and a few outright retired.

THE TAMING OF TERRAX

The Sphinx was an immortal wizard who sought to find a means of finally ending his overlong life. He menaced the hero called Nova, believing the Xandarian Worldmind might have the answer to his query, but upon tapping into the vast knowledge of the Worldmind, Sphinx swiftly changed his directive and sought to steal this power for himself and ascend to godhood. Nova failed to fight back against the Sphinx, necessitating the intervention of the Fantastic Four. The Four in turn found themselves bargaining with Galactus to overpower the Sphinx, and the eater of worlds cajoled the heroes finding him a new herald in exchange for his intervention. 

Desperate, the Four targeted Tyros the Tamer, the brutal ruler of a small planet, rationalizing he is more deserving of such a fate than others. Imbued with the Power Cosmic, Tyros became Terrax, gaining an incorporeal form that took solid shape of whatever solid matter the planet he strikes down into is composed of. Galactus slew Sphinx, hurling him into a time loop where the immortal’s consciousness would be worn down to almost nothing, and for punishment of bringing both Xandar and potentially the entire universe to the brink, Nova was stripped of his powers and sent back to Earth as an ordinary teenager, Richard Rider. 

Just a few years later, Terrax would break free of Galactus’ bonds, and crash into Manhattan, demanding the Four face him, or else he would bring the city down to rubble. It was then that six superpowered youths would take the call to protect New York...

Dwayne Taylor’s comfortable childhood as the son of a philanthropist was violently upended one night when his parents were gunned down in the street right in front of him. Taken in by his father’s war buddy Andrew Chord, Dwayne spent his adolescence honing his body and mind, channeling his grief and rage into becoming the Night Thrasher, New York’s newest costumed vigilante. Initially, Dwayne formed a partnership with the brother-sister duo of Midnight’s Fire and Silhouette, and for a time the three struck out as a trio patrolling the streets of lower Manhattan. A gang bust gone awry left Silhouette critically injured and Dwayne barely escaping with his life from the wrath of Fire, who blamed Dwayne for his sister’s paralysis. Dwayne retreated to Madame Tai, his and Chord’s enigmatic martial arts master, dejected over his failings, to which Tai merely scolded her pupil further before instructing him to lick his wounds and try again. 

When he did, Dwayne decided to dream bigger, accessing SHIELD and Hellfire data to find candidates to a super-team that could match the iconography of the Fantastic Four. Dwayne’s candidates understandably did not take well to Dwayne’s method of recruitment, assembling them at a meet-up through vague, threatening messages and testing their skills through direct combat. When Terrax suddenly menaced the city, the quartet were able to put their enmity aside for the sake of others, and through Dwayne’s tactical skills they succeeded in fending off the cosmic threat long enough for the F4 to take him down. The public gave the more famous team with the success over the fight, but none of them could deny they had a synergy capable of great feats. Dwayne propositioned the group once more, this time far less abrasively, and thus the New Warriors officially came together. 

Dwayne is steadfast, focused, and wildly competent, though a lot of that is not wholly authentic to who Dwyane truly is. He takes any failure very personally, and has low tolerance for it with those around him.  Dwayne starts off treating the Warriors more as soldiers than as teammates, to which most of them manage to tolerate with for their own reasons. This will come to a head part way through the first season, when Speedball’s mother comes under threat by a gang of eco-terrorists, and instead Dwayne is attempting to keep the Warriors on track to his ongoing plans to strike back against Midnight’s Fire. The few people whom Dwayne trusts to be vulnerable with is Chord and Silhouette, who even then Dwayne is more talking at while she remains in the coma her injury left her in. That slowly changes the more he works alongside the Warriors, and finds the affirmation that Madame Tai never provided. As the season goes on, Dwayne uncovers the conspiracy behind his parent’s murder and the devastating reveal of who had been manipulating the direction of his life into the present. With the Warriors’ help, Dwayne fights back, but in that victory he also loses that razor-sharp focus which had largely allowed him to operate through the trauma left unresolved. By the season’s end, Dwayne will pass along leadership duties to Namorita as he takes some time off with Silhouette to more properly find himself.

Angels of Deception - The The

Angelica Jones’ mutant ability to generate microwave heat first manifested through the intense grief of her beloved grandmother passing away when Angelica was fourteen. Rather than a certain man in a wheelchair entering the scene, the Jones household was instead visited by Emma Frost, the villainous White Queen of the Hellfire Club but known by the public as the headmistress to the esteemed Massachusetts Academy. Angelica’s father, well-meaning but unequipped and overwhelmed as how to nurture his daughter and her newfound powers, hastily agreed to Frost’s offer to take in Angelica and properly tutor her. Though Emma initially planned to enroll Angelica into her clique of mutant students she dubbed the Hellions, once Emma estimated the sheer scope of Angelica’s microwave powers, she instead took the young girl directly under her wing. Over the course of her adolescence, Angelica was desensitized to violence and had her devotion to Emma solidified through entrapment and emotional and psychic manipulation, all in the service of Angelica being made to be a literal nuclear option for Emma, should her feud with her fellow Hellfire members necessitate it. 

Angelica was discouraged from socializing with her fellow Hellions to ensure Emma’s direct control. When a rogue student Emplate fled the Academy, Angelica went against Emma’s orders out of her utter devotion and tracked down Emplate herself. During their fight, Emplate used his powers to unearth Emma’s exploitation of Angelica that had always been in her periphery, but could no longer deny. Her entire world shaken, Angelica was driven into a blind rage and stormed back to destroy Emma’s personal office back at the Academy. She left for home, threatening Emma to never come near her again. Angelica attempted to return to her old life, but the years of abuse had turned the shy but kindly young girl into a sullen and withdrawn teenager, unwilling to let other people in and distrustful and resentful to even her father for allowing Emma to come into her life in the first place. Then came the fateful evening where she came home to an empty house and a vaguely threatening message left by Dwayne. By the end of that night, Angelica was forced to use her powers for the first time in months for the sake of the city. 

Firestar might be my favorite characters in the whole team, and I love the backstory that Tom DeFalco had crafted for her after the decision to make her canon to the main Marvel universe. With that said, there was always one glaring thing about her that was one of my least favorable aspects of the original Warrior’s run, and that is that, for the most part, there’s no real impetus for Angel to continue with the superhero life. In both her origin story as well as the first few arcs of the series, she is portrayed as having overcome the trauma inflicted upon her by Emma Frost and is by all accounts a well-adjusted teenager. I always felt what Angel went through would have created far deeper repercussions than her initial depictions would have let on, something that Angel’s more recent depictions in the Krakoa era appear to be aware of. 

Committing to that, I decided Angel’s initial arc would be while she is still very hesitant to use her powers offensively even as a hero, she nonetheless agrees to join the Warriors because, at that time, there’s no one else she can confide in how having superpowers has affected her life. Eventually, Emma will reenter Angel’s life and will finally overcome her menace for good, but in the following episode Angel will realize how hollow her victory truly feels, and it will take more than retribution to fix her problems. From this, Angel steadily opens herself up a bit, which in turn allows her to better empathize with her teammates. She can better recognize the pain in Dwayne’s eyes, and how the brutality in his combat might stem from more than a bad attitude. She sees Vance as less of a stuffed shirt and a boy scout, and how his own trauma shaped who he is. And she becomes more receptive to Nita’s efforts at becoming a friend. In effect, Angel becomes a happier, more well-rounded person thanks to being a New Warrior.

Richard Rider was just an average teenager before he was the unexpected bystander to Nova Corpsman Rohmann Dey’s crash-landing onto Earth. Mortally injured, Dey entrusted his powers and duties of interstellar peacekeeping to the young man, and for the next several Rich years went on high-flying adventures as Kid Nova, the human rocket. One day, however, Rich squared off with a villain far stronger than him, putting both the treasured Worldmind of the Nova Corps home planet Xandar and with it the safety of the very universe. As punishment, Rich was stripped of his rank and sent back to Earth, where he found out his prolonged time out in space left him severely behind on his schooling. No powers and no diploma, Rich is slaving away at a dead-end fast food job when Dwayne leaves his meet-up directions. Unlike Angel or Vance, Rich has no powers to test out against Dwayne, to which Dwayne retorts that his research has led him to believe Rich’s Nova powers are still within him, but as a fail-safe in a life or death situation. With this, Dwayne hurls Rich off the roof, and though Rich does find himself once more encased in his Nova armor, it was not for the reasons Dwayne stated. Rich attempts to fight Terrax on his own, but realizing how rusty he has become, allows the others to assist in spite of the power gap between him and them. 

Rich will slowly mature into the seasoned hero some of us know him to be. His time in the Warriors is that awkward middle ground between that and being the plucky new hero on the scene, a broad archetype I like to call the Washed Up High School Athlete. Having fallen so low and then seemingly reclaimed his lost glory, Rich has a bit of an ego about him. Additionally, Rich is inarguably the most experienced in the superhero game than any other Warrior. He’s gone out to space multiple times, has had tons of team-ups with major players, and has had his own robust rogues gallery. Rich’s arrogance, however, doesn’t come from an overestimation of his abilities—no, he learned that the hard way in his battle with Sphinx. Rather, it comes from the flip-side of an insecurity to prove that he’s still worthy of being Nova. He’ll pall around with Speedball, develop a teasing friendship with Justice, and butt heads repeatedly with Thrash. Part of which stems from a desire to lead the Warriors himself, but as he slowly learns humility he will concede that just because he’s the power house doesn’t mean he deserves to be running the show. This is when his bond with Nita strengthens, who previously rolled her eyes at Rich’s flirtations, but shows due respect and encouragement once Rich slowly began to take things more seriously.

Vance Astrovik grew up in a lonely household, with his mother having died when Vance was young and his father emotionally distant, unsupportive, and generally scolding and abusive. A chance encounter with a strange man in the park, who advised Vance to “focus” his frustrations, allowed him to first tap his mutant powers of telekinesis. As Vance got older and his father’s abuse became physical, Vance lashed out with his powers before running away from home. Vance enrolled into the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation, lying about his age and utilizing his telekinesis to imitate super-strength, to make a living on his own. After winning a streak of matches under the persona of “Marvel Boy”, Vance was set up with the UCWF’s highest-profile contender: The one and only Thing, who like Vance was at the time also living a life on the road, struggling to find himself. Seeing the eyes of an angry, tortured young man staring back at him struck a chord with Ben, and he very quickly threw the fight against the promoter’s demands. Ben let Vance use him as a big, stony punching bag to let out all his emotions, and when the match was over Ben approached Vance more earnestly. 

With the senior hero’s help, Vance slowly started to get his life back together. Vance went back to New York with Ben, where he split his time between a contract with the Heroes For Hire while also catching up on his missing education. For the first time ever, Vance’s life was stable, and through the Heroes For Hire he was even able to live out his dream of being a superhero, though he longed for the gung-ho adventuring of the profession that didn’t seem to be around in his generation. It was that type of longing that made Vance the most amenable to Dwayne’s proposal, despite his unorthodox method of recruitment. When up against Terrax, Vance was directed by Dwayne to use his telekinesis in a more intangible way, and pooling his powers with Speedball’s, ended up becoming an instrumental force in disarming Terrax and saving the day. Vance’s enthusiasm continued into Dwayne’s second attempt to assemble a team, and was the first one to agree. 

Vance is the fanboy of the team, who loves all things superhero. Rather than having the plucky enthusiasm a character like Robbie might instead bring, think of Vance as the type of fan who is somewhat embarrassed or even ashamed to be a fan among his given friend group. He’s reserved and stoic a lot of the time, but the moment he’s in his element or encounters a fellow fan in the wild, a switch just goes off in him and his enthusiasm comes out. Ergo, Vance could potentially be the point of exposition in a given situation (Because he's done the research on his down time) but only if other team members such as Dwayne (The tactician) or Rich (The senior most hero) aren't around to exposit themselves, or might just be drawing a blank on the matter at hand. This close-to-the-vest behavior is extremely indicative of Vance at the beginning. He is reserved yet courteous, bashful yet determined. He believes the most in the Warriors, but because of his fledging confidence never volunteers to actually lead. 

He will start the series utilizing his powers more like Superboy, "tactical telekinesis" and all, but the more the series goes along and the more emotionally available Vance becomes, the more his mind becomes open to the more intangible aspects of his powers. Vance is patient towards Dwayne's hostilities, but less so with Rich's braggart behavior. He geeks out over Namorita at first, badgering her with questions over her famous cousin, but learns to reel back and respect Nita as a person and as a hero in her own right. He gets along well with Bobby in their mutual enthusiasm, though Bobby is significantly less mature and far more rambunctious than Vance might prefer. The only team member Vance actively comes to blows with is Firestar. They start out fundamentally disagreeing on helping others being a duty to people with powers such as themselves, but once Angelica’s abusive past comes to the forefront, it allows Vance the ability to unpack the baggage from his own abuse. He apologizes to Angelica for his confrontational attitude from before, and the two develop a bond and understanding unique from the rest of the team.

The “little cousin” to the tempestuous prince of Atlantis, Namorita is the daughter of Namor’s maternal cousin, Namora--more precise, Nita is her mother’s own genetic clone, conceived in such a way due to Namora’s hybrid physiology rendering her infertile. Namora died when Nita was still very young, killed in a coup against Namor orchestrated by his treacherous cousin, Byrrah. Namor was exiled and Nita was lied to by Byrrah and his conspirators that it was Namor who was the betrayer who left her mother to die. In spite of the loss of her mother and apparent betrayal of her cousin, Nita otherwise had a happy childhood as princess to the Atlantean throne. She was trained in combat by the warlord Krang, educated by the sorceress Llyra, and nurtured by the lady Dorma, all steps made to endow her with the skills necessary to be Byrrah’s eventual successor. Only when Namor returned to Atlantis decades later to challenge Byrrah for the throne did Nita understand the truth of her family, and she gallantly assisted her older cousin in reclaiming his birthright as Atlantis’ king. 

Still, the revelation left Nita troubled, and Namor recommended to his little cousin that some time away from Atlantis might help her clear her head. Namor arranged for Nita to live with Betty Prentiss, an old friend of his who had long retired to upstate New York. Nita grew to love Betty as a maternal figure, so much so that she took Betty’s name as part of her surface-world identity. Betty’s health began to fail, but she urged Nita not to hold herself back on her part, stressing that she was ready to brave the rest of the world. Nita was living in New York as a part-time college student, part-time sidekick to Namor’s new adventures, the day Terrax attacked the city. Though she was not among Dwayne’s initial recruits, she charged in and fought the good fight regardless, and it was her mastery in the water which barred Terrax from recomposing his physical form long enough for Rich to absorb his Power Cosmic directly and launch Terrax back out of the atmosphere.

Out of all the Warriors, Nita is the one who comes in the most put-together. She’s the oldest—literally. Despite physically and mentally still being around college-age, by non- Atlantean conditions she is in her 40′s—and unlike the others she joins the Warriors not out of a claim for fame or fill some existential void, but because she thought it would be fun to have a group of super-teens to become friends with. In the team’s earliest outings, Nita’s fun-loving nature comes off as flighty and vicarious to some, but as the Warriors grow more seasoned Nita demonstrates repeatedly how dedicated she is. When the chips are down, she does not make light of the crisis at hand, and is swift and unforgiving in her actions. The two big things that get under her skin are deception and not properly valuing the loved ones in one’s life. 

Nita is transparent and unapologetic in who she is, but that’s not to say she has all her issues of self-esteem squared away. Even in her time in Atlantis as next in line for the throne, there was always a pervasive contempt aimed at Nita, for no fault of her own than that she shared the pale skin of the betrayer, Namor. Additionally, later on Nita will discover the nature of her conception which will briefly throw her into an identity crisis, fretting on whether or not she is a “real” person. She constantly brings her other team-members up, yet rarely asks them to do so for her. So when Dwayne steps down by season’s end, it’s not Nita who volunteers to fill his role as leader, but her friends and teammates who rally behind her.

Slacker Robbie Baldwin was working late at his custodian job at a local research laboratory when he became an accidental witness to an illegal testing of experimental energy. Robbie was bombarded with this kinetic energy, endowing him with extraordinary powers, not only generating and projecting this energy but also using it to launch and propel his own body as a kinetic force, all while his body is rendered immune from physical harm. After making a splash in his hometown of Springvale, Connecticut as the local hero Speedball, Robbie decided to strike out in the superhero capital, New York City, only to quickly realize he was a big fish in a small pond. He even attempted to make a big splash to impress the Avengers and talk them into taking him in, only to be politely but firmly rejected by Captain America himself. Robbie was nearly ready to pack it in when he just so happened to be in the city on the day of Terrax’s attack. Though at first Robbie sought to distract Terrax and keep his rampage out of the way of civilians, he rolled with Dwayne’s direction to combine his powers with Vance’s, which gave a massive blow to Terrax’s physical form and won the heroes an edge that helped to secure the fight. 

At sixteen, Robbie is the youngest of the Warriors, and by every measure the least experienced and most immature. That excitement manifests in his powers, to which Robbie has to actively exert himself to calm down and lessen his generation of kinetic energy. In his earliest outings back in Springdale, Robbie was more a showman than a proper superhero, and that class clown persona carried over as a New Warrior. Next to Namorita, Robbie is the one with the most unabashed excitement towards being a superhero, and through that ends up becoming the heart of the team. His pluckiness allows him to easily chum it up with Rich and Nita, and his light-heartedness shines through to even the most jaded members of the group, such as Angel and Vance. He’s the biggest wild card for Dwayne, but keeps him on board for his untapped potential, a call that brings Dwayne to blows with Chord and Tai, one of many as the Warriors continue to operate. 

Dwayne volunteers to train Robbie in combat as a compromise with his mentors, an arrangement Robbie isn’t initially receptive to but commits to once he understands how important it is to keeping him on the team. For outside of simply wanting to strike out as a superhero, Robbie seeks any excuse to get out of his house, as his parent’s constant bickering and intrusive opinions on what Robbie should do with his life make Springvale nigh insufferable. Getting to and from the Warriors in New York and his home in Springvale, all while concealing his identity to his parents, is a strenuous to maintain, but Robbie keeps at it. This dedication eventually pays off, granting Robbie a focus and determination that not only allows for a greater application of his powers, but makes him a more capable hero that he would have been without the support of his fellow Warriors. 

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The team are rarely all together at once.

This is both a tool to alleviate the burden of handling up to six main characters at once, as well as taking writing cues from previous shows such as Teen Titans 2003 and Justice League in juggling their own large casts. Additionally, I feel like this would help sell the Warriors' status as being a bunch of kids with their own lives and priorities. Dwayne is rich and has his own personal pilot, sure, but Angel lives in New Jersey, and Speedball in Connecticut. Rich and Vance sometimes have their own hero-work to do, as does Nita when adventuring alongside her cousin. The plan is to use this status quo to the story’s advantage, focusing generally on up to two or three characters at a time with every episode, building up on their relationship with one another in addition to individual one-offs. Whenever the Warriors are fully assembled, such as the series premiere or the season finale, it's made that much bigger of a deal.

The team is not trying to replace an established super-team, nor do they regularly rub elbows with more famous characters on a regular basis.

Not to say it never happens, but cameos should be used sparingly, especially for the first season. The Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and Heroes for Hire, and any other big names are all out doing their own things, and so will the Warriors. Team-ups with the F4 and Avengers are planned in this first season, but that and any subsequent team-ups should always happen organically and contribute to the episode’s plot.

Every Warrior starts out incomplete in some way, and becoming a team and befriending one another slowly helps them realize their potential.

Their initial formation, banding together to fight Terrax, happens completely by accident, and not before Night Thrasher attempts to form the team forcibly, hacking the private information of Firestar, Justice and Nova. Even then, there is a period after Terrax’s attack where the group rarely see each other, and some assume it was just a one-off thing. But all six are compelled to work along with one another, and make that initial agreement with Thrash following Terrax’s invasion, based on a very specific shared circumstance: They are all young people with superpowers that have affected their lives, for either good or bad, and they don’t have anyone in their personal lives to relate to or confide in. That’s what keeps them coming back despite in some cases living across the city or whole states apart, and that budding friendship with people they never would have engaged with otherwise helps each member of the team become more complete individuals in the process. That’s the biggest through-line of this series.

"God, Cass, can you shut up for once?" Bela said, storming down the hall with her sister trailing behind her.

The castle had been alight with their arguing all day, with Cassandra seeming to evoke Bela even more than usual, a permanent scowl on her face as she did. Daniela had long since decided to stick by her mother's side to avoid the fight, eavesdropping when they were close enough to hear.

Something had Cassandra in a mood, but no one had yet figured it out. The maids of the castle had been hiding as best they could, and the hushed gossip between them revealed nothing but their fear. The tension plaguing the castle was only tempered when the Lady of the house leveled a stern look at her daughter. And even then, it only lasted so long, the frustrated fire reheating easily.

Bela's frustrated shriek rang out easily before she dispersed into bugs, fleeing to her room and leaving Cassandra pacing in the hallway. At least until she heard one of the maids carefully step towards the living room to address her mother. She watched carefully from her place in the hall.

"Hello, my Lady. The Duke and his assistant have returned, they have new wares to sell." The maid said. Her voice was soft and nervous but Cassandra was listening to nothing else, solely focused on the news.

Before Lady Dimitrescu even responded, Cassandra was coming apart into a swarm, flying off to find the duke's assistant. Her frustration was gone, and if she'd still had a face, she'd be fighting off a grin. Her lover was back!

It had been a long few months, leaving her lonely and irritable, but it was all worth it to see them again. Nothing could make her happier.

You were swept up into your girlfriend's arms before you realized she was there. She was laughing and spinning you around, her face pressed into your neck.

capcom store is your go to place for plushies relating to the company’s games. i got my big dante plush and my small nero plush from there. they have three locations, tokyo, osaka and umeda. their tokyo location is in shibuya parco on the 7th floor (i believe) and the one thing about their location is that they almost seem to be out of plushies, especially resident evil and devil may cry. just be careful and check the other locations! i find that the plushies have a different feel to them and might not feel as “high quality” as a 20cm cotton plush but they are plenty soft.

your best luck with cheap yet good quality plushies is k-books on the third floor. it’s all used anime goods, with pretty much every popular franchise or anime. but despite being used everything is packaged like new and generally prices are really cheap compared to new anime goods! i find it worth going through the baskets below all of the goods and searching for a plushy you might like! it’s where i’ve gotten several gojo charms and plushies. and my aki plushies as well.

amiami is located on the fourth floor, and everything there is new/packaged anime goods. i find their selection pretty good if you want to find something a bit more niche. but i mainly highlight them because lately their small danmei selection has OFFICIAL minidoll plushies! (the prices are actually cheaper than some aliexpress resellers!) i saw a 40cm hua cheng sitting doll, and the special outfit hualian dolls as well. it is worth checking out for their danmei selection alone, even tho it is pretty small. however danmei goods is more plentiful in ikebukuro’s stella worth, although no plushies are there. 

lashinbang has several locations in japan, but i typically visit the one in akihabara. i also visited the one in sapporo hokkaido, which is where i got my 40cm yuta and gojo sitting plushies for approximately $7. i really like visiting lashinbang because their baskets have some variety of plushy, although i would say that the condition varies on which store you visit. however they do tend to keep their prices low, unless the plushy itself is on demand. i like to get jujutsu kaisen plushies from there.

last of all, is animate! animate is a store where pretty much in-season anime and very popular anime gets goods. i typically don’t find plushies, maybe plushy charms occasionally but it’s not very often that i do. however it doesn’t hurt to check since animate is very convenient, as there is a few locations in tokyo and in other major cities. you’ll find standard anime goods prices here, as it’s a store for anything new.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

There was a one-shot where I explored the Inquisitor losing Cullen, and nothing will top that. However, in my small series Leon and Ada fics there tends to be a note of sadness in each one, even if the main fic has a happy ending.

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of my longfics have happy endings, but I find it doesn't ring true to life if everything is happyhappyjoyjoy. It probably also depends on what your definition of happiness is. Probably Love Song on Sapphire Isle because Jaime and Brienne get married and literally have a pack of children and travel the world--the ending written solely to say Fuck you to the GOT writers for doing that to Jaime and brienne, and at this point I can't count on GRRM for a happy ending for them.

I mean that's what I want, so I would say this ending. (I'd prefer 2/3 kids however, LOL.)

8. do you get hate on fics?

I've been fortunate but I've had a few frankly very stupid comments over the years. One person claimed I was a fetishist because I noted Cullen and Lydia gain weight when they retire but they still think each other is hot. It's more accurate to say I've received unsolicited concrit, which I'm sorry, is and forever will be annoying when you don't ask for it. concrit is helpful, but don't give it when the author doesn't ask. Trust me, we will ask when we want it from people we trust.

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

I used to write a lot...and I used to enjoy it a lot, but frankly at this point in my life I find I don't enjoy writing it as much unless there's a character exploration to it or something else beneath the surface. I joked a while ago that falling for an IRL man killed my smut writing career, but I think it's more accurate that as I started writing original fiction again I learned to be more purposeful with sex.

10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've written?

No, but there is a scene in In Waking Dreams that is an homage, if not outright rip off of my favorite scene in one of my favorite movies, That Hamilton Woman. It's the scene before he gives her the coin when they're staying at in inn

I am quite proud of myself for finishing most of the fics I've begun. The one fic though I'd love to finish would be my Morrigan x warden fic simply because it's not a ship I see often. At this point however I'm not going to say I am done with fanfic, but my priorities have shifted.

I have been told it's lyrical, poetic writing and characterization.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

I like to rely on dialogue and my descriptions tend to me minimal. There is a fine line of course, too much description will bog a story down.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Should be used sensibly and sparingly and you should know what you're doing. Read a book fairly recently where the characters were bilingual, Spanish and English, and as someone who grew up with a lot of Spanish speakers it rang hollow to me.

20. favourite fic you've written?

Why is this so hard? I like them all to a certain degree. There's just something about my one shot Leon and Ada fic Barcelona though. I hadn't even been in the city yet and I still think I got it down so well. The utter helplessness, the slight angst, the longing, the pinning. It reminds me of a version of me that I can't go back to, a version of me so etched in that certain point in time, and yet you wouldn't know it unless you were me. You'd just read it and say "yes."

Every long time comics fan probably has some affection they can’t explain for some obscure character. Maybe it’s a throwaway member of somebody’s supporting cast who was never meant to be around for long; maybe it’s somebody cool who got wasted, occasionally literally; or maybe it’s a character who has some potential that’s never been explored. I’ve got somewhere around a couple of dozen of those, but today, for some reason, I’m thinking about Kelly Ridge from Ultimate Fantastic Four.

UFF #22 is widely remembered as the second issue in “Crossover,” the short arc that introduced the Marvel Zombies.

Short version: the Ultimate version of Reed Richards is tricked into visiting an alternate universe, which is, broadly speaking, a pastiche of the mainstream Marvel continuity circa 1974 through 1994. Once there, Reed discovers that the superhuman population has been either killed or infected by a disease that turns them into cannibalistic murderers, with the exception of that universe’s Magneto.

Magneto takes Reed to his hideout, where he introduces Reed to the three survivors he’s been able to protect. This includes a middle-aged man; his diabetic teenage daughter; and Officer Kelly Ridge (above), who might very well be the last remaining cop in New York City.

In UFF #23, Magneto’s hideout is breached by a zombie Thor. The survivors emerge onto the street and find themselves surrounded by, at a glance, every major superhero in the Marvel Universe, all of whom want to kill and eat them.

Ridge’s reaction is to pull out her pistol and step up.

She barely has a line for the rest of the issue, but is successfully transported to the Ultimate universe by the teleporter that brought Reed there in the first place.

According to the Marvel Fandom wiki, these are Ridge’s only two appearances to date. Given the general fuckery that characterized the last few years of the Ultimate universe, there’s a very real chance she died off-panel in one of the multiple worldwide disasters.

That being said, I always thought she’d make for an interesting SHIELD or ARMOR agent. “Last surviving cop from a zombie dimension” is the sort of hook that my Resident Evil fanboy brain likes to grab onto, and it seems unlikely that Ridge would simply go back on a normal cop’s beat after an experience like this.

I’d also be real interested to see a story about how she managed to survive this in the first place. “Crossover” begins at a point where, as far as the zombies can tell, there are no normal humans left on Earth. The Marvel Zombies storyline accelerates quickly; Magneto says at one point in UFF #24 that the infection first appeared three days beforehand, and later MZ stories attribute that to a zombified Quicksilver going on an international rampage. That means it’s likely that Ridge was on her own for at least a day or so as the plague was ramping up.

under no circumstances will minor characters be involved in any and all nsfw roleplays. while i absolutely enjoy spicy scenes in roleplays and i will put my all into keeping them descriptive and fun to read, i will not purely roleplay nsfw. i want to incorporate lots of drama and plot, and the nsfw scenes make sense for the characters and their relationship.

Ship: Jotaro x Chris

Warnings: Small description of violence and mention of death

Summary: Jotaro comes back to his hotel room, only to discover that Dio is somehow alive and standing in his room...or is he?

A/N: So this is a crossover ship that me and one of my friends came up with for an rp. This is the bad ending of one of our rps for said crossover. This one is purely just self indulgence, but for those of you that want to read this admittedly weird crossover anyways, I hope you enjoy! The only thing that you really have to know is that Chris is a stand user. His stand is literally just a werewolf, but instead of it being a separate being like normal stands are, he turns into his. Think of Diego turning into a dinosaur. It's like that.

Timeline wise, this takes place after Code Veronica (resident evil) and during part 4 (jjba)

It turned out to have not been such a great idea going after that stand user all by himself. It turned out that one user turned into actually being two, and Jotaro was only able to stop one of them, while the second one had run away before he could catch him. As irritating as it was to have one get away, he knew better than to try his luck to go after him. No. It would be smarter to go back to the hotel room and get Chris to help. After all, Chris’ stand, Hells Bells, could sniff and track down wherever the second stand user had gone to. 

Though as he entered the room, he had the sudden feeling of dread creeping up the back of his spine. Something felt off and had him on high alert as Star Platinum manifested behind him. He looked around the room and discovered that Chris was nowhere to be seen. “Chris?” he called out cautiously to him. 

The door to the bathroom then swung open and suddenly, Jotaro was overcome with a painful splitting headache that had him hissing as he clutched his head in his hands. 

“Jotaro?” He heard Chris’ voice as a hand touched his shoulder. “Are you okay?” 

When he looked up, Jotaro expected to find his boyfriend standing in front of him, but he didn’t. Who he found standing in front of him was much much worse. 

Dio stood before him with that same proud, overconfident smirk that Jotaro always remembered him having. He was even dressed in the same exact outfit as well. It was as if he had traveled back in time to that very night they faced off. Jotaro would have probably believed that he did, except for the fact that they weren’t in Egypt and were clearly standing in the middle of his and Chris’ hotel room in Morioh. 

Jotaro jerked away with a shout, his eyes blown wide with confusion and fear, before they were overcome with pure hot anger. “You’re dead,” he whispered. 

“Wha–”

Star’s fist came down quick as lightning before Dio had the chance to defend himself, sending him crashing backwards into the opposite wall with a loud crash. 

For a split second, Jotaro’s vision flickered and he saw a glimpse of Chris in place of Dio, but then the headache came back and when he looked up, Dio was there again. “You’re supposed to be dead!”

Chris had just gotten out of the shower when he heard the door to the room open, then close. He then quickly got dressed as he heard Jotaro call out his name. As he pushed open the door to greet Jotaro, he discovered him hunched over clutching his forehead as if he was in pain. “Jotaro? Are you okay?” he asked and gently placed his hand on his shoulder.

When his boyfriend looked up at him, he had recoiled back with a shout and an intense look of fear in his eyes that Chris had only seen a few times before. His eyebrows knitted together in concern, but before he could ask him what was wrong, he heard Jotaro mumble out a quiet, “You’re dead.” 

Chris hadn’t even had time to see the hit coming before a powerful purple fist collided with his chest, sending him flying backwards. He crashed painfully into the wall, knocking a huge hole in it in the process. He was extremely disoriented as he wheezed and coughed. It felt like all the air had been punched out of his lungs, which in a way, it kinda did. 

“You’re supposed to be dead!” 

“Jotaro, what the hell are you talking about?” Chris coughed out, holding his hurt ribs as he stumbled up to his feet. 

He was met with nothing, but a deep dark anger burning bright in his boyfriend’s eyes. He didn’t know what was going on, but it wasn’t anything good and he could recognize that he was in danger. Chris’ stand began to manifest as his body began snapping and contorting until Hells Bells appeared in his place. The large werewolf-like stand wasted no time in busting through the door in an attempt to get away from his attacker. 

Jotaro and Star roared in unison as the stand slammed into the other one and the two gappled with each other in the hotel hallway, both trying to get the upperhand in the struggle. Star Platinum and Hells Bells never fought before and both seemed almost evenly matched in strength. But then– “Star Platinum, the world!” 

One moment, Hells was fighting for his life against the other stand, and then before he could even blink, he was crashing through a window with a loud pained yelp you’d expect from a hurt wolf. Chris had, of course, known about Jotaro’s ability to stop time, but he had never experienced it first-hand in a fight. It was absolutely terrifying. He felt shards of glass cut into him, but he had suffered a lot worse and Hells Bells was very sturdy and resilient. He picked himself up and forced himself to run. He didn’t know or understand what was going on. Jotaro never acted like this before. He had to put as much distance between them as possible before he was killed. 

“DIO!” Jotaro shouted after him, wasting no time in hopping over the broken windowsill, ignoring the feeling of glass cutting into his palms, and took off in a sprint in the direction that the vampire had gone in. His head felt like he was in some sort of daze and wasn’t able to realize that what he was seeing wasn’t real. 

Hells picked up on Jotaro screaming out the name of their long dead foe and Chris felt true fear run down his spine. If Jotaro thought he was Dio, then he was in even worse danger than he previously had thought. 

He tore down the street, ignoring all the horrified screams of the people that he passed, who all jumped and ran out the way to avoid the giant werewolf. Unlike most stands, non stand users could unfortunately see Chris’ stand, which was why he usually was also so careful to not bring him out in a very public place, but he wasn’t given much of a choice right now. 

He didn’t really know where he was running to, just so long as he put enough distance between him and Jotaro until he could figure out what to do. 

Luck was on his side as he spotted both Josuke and Okuyasu who both were on the other side of the street running towards him. “Chris, what the hell man?!” 

Hells stopped dead in his tracks and slowly, Chris shifted back which had taken a lot of him just by itself. He stumbled, but was then caught by the two others who helped keep him steady. “What’s going on? Why are you–” Josuke began to question, before he cut him off. 

“It’s Jotaro.” He coughed out through the aching pain in his ribs from where he had been punched. “I don't know what’s going on with him, but he thinks I’m an old enemy and is now trying to kill me!”

Josuke quickly glanced around, but didn’t see Jotaro in sight. “Could it be a stand?” 

“Possibly– LOOK OUT!” Chris tackled the two teenagers down as a car was thrown through the air at them. 

At the end of the street stood Jotaro and Star, looking like he had gone absolutely mad. Blood was dripping from his hands from where he no doubt cut himself on the window, his white jacket was gone and the black turtleneck he wore was ripped in some places. His hat was gone, leaving his hair a wild mess that framed his shell shocked face as his intense gaze focused on Chris. “Get away from them! This is between me and you, Dio!” 

“You two get the hell out of here!” Chris shouted at Josuke and Okuyasu as the three of them scrambled back up to their feet. He could feel his heart pounding inside his chest as he met Jotaro’s gaze. It took a lot to scare Chris and right now? He was scared shitless as he looked into those cold empty eyes of the man he loved, who looked like he would tear through the entire world just to get to Chris. He was terrified not only for himself, but for the two teenagers that were now about to get caught in their crossfire. He risked taking his eyes off of Jotaro to look over at the two. “If this is a stand, go and try to see if you can find the user. They have to be somewhere around here.” 

Josuke looked hesitant at first, but then nodded before running off in search for a stand user. As much as neither of the two wanted to leave Chris behind, the only way they could really help him was by putting a stop to whoever was doing this to Jotaro. 

Jotaro and Chris stood alone in the street about ten feet apart from each other. There was a boiling hatred in Jotaro’s expression as he glared down at Chris. “You’re not getting away from me this time.” 

Chris stood unwavering, forcing himself to take a deep breath and get a handle on himself. “I am not Dio.” he stressed, his fists clenching at his sides for a moment, before he released the tight grip and took a slow half step forward. “Dio is dead. You made sure of that back in Egypt when we were teenagers. We both saw his body turn to ash in the sun, remember?” He was trying desperately to get him to remember and understand. “Jotaro…please, it’s me. It’s Chris. Whatever is happening, whatever you are seeing, it isn’t real.” 

“I can’t believe you really thought you could ever kill me” Dio sneered, his fist clenching at his side. 

Jotaro watched the vampire carefully as he had taken a half step closer to him. He wasn’t sure what Dio was planning to do, but he was getting ready to strike or defend himself at any possible moment. 

“You Joestars are all pathetic!” Dio continued with a mocking laugh. “Your great great grandfather stood no chance against me, what made you believe that you did? Your little dog, Chris, couldn’t even land a single scratch on me before I snapped his neck and put an end to his meaningless existence.” 

Jotaro faltered and went still as his anger temporarily was replaced with crushing dread. “Chris…” he whispered, his voice quiet and filled with pain. 

“Yes, it’s Chris.” 

“Yes, he’s dead.” 

Jotaro’s steps faltered and he felt his eyes burn with tears as an indescribable amount of rage and grief overwhelmed him. He looked back up at Dio, at the monster that killed his boyfriend, and let out an anguished scream as he lunged forward, using Star to punch straight through Dio’s chest. He felt a sickening satisfaction as Star withdrew his arm that was now coated in the blood of his enemy and watched as Dio’s body fell to the ground.

“Jo- Jo…” Dio coughed out, weakly reaching a hand up towards him. Jotaro knelt down to his level. He half expected for Dio to make a lame attempt at a strike against him, but what he didn’t expect was for Dio to reach up at his forehead and pull out a flesh bud. 

It wasn’t until Jotaro had knelt down that Chris had been able to see the cause of all of Jotaro’s bizarre actions. A flesh bud had been embedded into his forehead, which was covered up by all his hair. It took all the strength that he didn’t even have in order to reach up and rip the flesh bud out of him, then crush it in his hand. His vision was going out of focus, but he could see the second realization had struck Jotaro. 

He felt himself be scooped up and cradled in his lover’s arms. “No! No No– NO CHRIS!” 

Chris cupped his cheek, accidentally smearing blood on him in the process, and quietly shushed him. He wanted to say to him that it was alright, that he forgave him, and not to blame himself. It wasn’t him. Chris knew that Jotaro would never hurt him. But every attempt that he made to speak, he only ended up choking and coughing up blood as it had started to fill up his lungs. Breathing felt impossible and soon he began to choke and drown in his own blood. He closed his eyes and leaned into Jotaro, allowing the sound of his racing heartbeat to gently lull him as his eyes began to shut. 

“Chris! Chris, hold on! Josuke can–” Jotaro broke out into a sob as he tried to stand up while holding Chris. He couldn’t break down, no. Chris was going to be alright. He was going to get him to Josuke and he would fix him as good as new. He wasn’t going to lose him. Not like this. It couldn’t end like this. 

Even when he felt Chris go limp in his arms, he continued running to find Josuke, because maybe there still was time. There had to be more time. 

Jotaro soon spotted Josuke, who took one look at them before breaking out into a full on sprint until he reached Jotaro and Chris. Crazy Diamond appeared in an instant and with a single touch, all of the injuries on Chris disappeared. There was not a single trace of the fight on him save for the blood stains on his clothes. 

Yet he didn’t wake back up. He remained motionless and when Josuke felt for a pulse, he found none. 

“Jotaro-” 

“Try it again.” The older man said, his voice barely above a whisper.  

“Jotaro, I can’t-”

“Try it again!”

Josuke tried to heal Chris over and over again, yet the results remained the same no matter how much he tried. 

Jotaro shook as he clung onto Chris’s dead body and buried his face into Chris’ chest with a loud, wrecked out sob. 

He had killed him.

This was all his fault.

Where ive been, where im taking my account, etc

Hello loves! I know i have been active very off & on, and i apologize that i havent been very good at getting to asks very quickly. but these past few weeks i have been slowly trying to get back on the bandwagon & writing again. its just very hard when i used to barely have any motivation, even though i love writing.

i am happy to say that my mental health has been doing A LOT better in just the span of this past month. i have been taking time for myself, focusing on myself, ALLOWING myself to give my body a break which has led me to feeling guilty, but i am a work in progress & i am working on that.

just a reminder that you should ALWAYS take time for yourself. you deserve better, you know you do, & mental health can have such a longing effect on you if you dont take care of yourself & just keep pushing & pushing yourself. you matter, taking time off for yourself is NEVER selfish; you deserve that, it is not a crime, i promise.

(TW- EATING DISORDER TALK IN THIS PARAGRAPH); in terms of my ed, i have been doing better mentally! slowly, but surely, i am trying to find peace with my body :) my health is a lot better & i am almost weight restored. honestly, that idea alone is still scary to me & it practically drives me insane, but i am working on that mindset as time progresses. never, EVER, sacrifice your health for your weight.

As for where i am taking my blog, i will still be doing genshin writing (and trying to finish up ALL of the old asks that i have yet to write). however, i also want to expand it and write for other fandoms & games & shows that i love (recently i have wanted to write for FNAF, detroit become human, resident evil, etc). PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SEND ME REQUESTS FOR THOSE GAMES TOO, I WOULD LOVE TO WRITE FOR THEM!

i am currently piecing together a william afton fanfic that i have had the idea for SO long. there have been many ideas ive had, but the lack of motivation has prevented me from writing them.

i am happy to say that i am excited to start writing frequently again (it will take me a little bit to start writing a lot more but i will get there), and thank you all for being so patient with me and waiting :).
