Unreleased Setting Friday
ages ago i posted One picture of Limes, my alien character, on main without context. Limes comes from a sci-fi setting I was messing with for a while in early 2023/late 2022
They are photosynthetic "mimic" aliens who change shape from a base body plan over only a few generations to match the organisms around them - it was originally based off of that plant that "sees" its immediate neighbours and grows similar leaves to blend in :) limes was born in the Amazon to a small established group of its species that had mostly mimicked new world monkeys and margays
the panels on its back are photosynthetic. the body lacks bones and is operated by a hydrostatic system, with the tail in particular being straight and rodlike by default until warped by hydraulics into a prehensile structure.
These are really old designs now and the top image is actually the most recent hehe
Anyway there's a whole near-future story about the earth-born aliens and humans cooperating to fend off attacks from another faction of the same alien species who are raiding human technology for their power sources and essentially, basically, the entire setup is JUST to justify the presence of living aeroplanes :) as livestock guardian animals who accompany regular air freight and defend them from attacks. The story is about Limes, an engineer of the biomechs, working with a human biologist/behaviourist whose job is to train the livestock guardians to guard the freight.

"basically all corporations do this"? You don't see Warcraft, most D&D settings, the Witcher, Shadowrun, Magic the Gathering, etc etc etc other fantasy franchises calling their orcs 'urgogs' or such. The likes of Blizzard and Hasbro aren't exactly paragons of integrity either, and ideas like 'continuity of brand' are ideas that applied equally to Warhammer.
Buddy. Pal. My guy. WoW-specific races like Tauren, Eredar, Draenai, are all copyrighted, and Blizzard holds copyright over the specific physical appearances of certain iterations of standard fantasy creatures, even though they aren't inherently all that original. Basically all of D&D's "unique" monsters and species are also copyrighted by Hasbro, no matter how derivative they are. Hence why Pathfinder doesn't use them. I don't know exactly what point you're trying to make, but I don't think you're making it very well.
Companies making THEIR version of a thing, in name or visual design, and then claiming it, is literally how all of these fuckers work.

The sapient species of Enith. I want to do individual posts for each species, but idk when I’d get around to that.
Corldaxians (pronounced Corl-dax-ee-ans) are the most common, and are certainly the ones that have the easiest time in space. Kielni (kee-el-nee) are also very common, and many space stations- though not as many spaceships- are made to fit them. For most of Enith’s history Kielni regularly hunted Corldaxians. Both inhabited the same islands, both used the large rainforest plants as shelter, and Common Corldaxians are the right size to be easy prey for Kielni. Needless to say the social and religious repercussions of this are wild. Radraki Corldaxians were also hunted by Kielni, if less often, due to Radrakis living mostly in plains and Kielni preferring rainforests.
Taysya (Tay-s-yah) are the largest of the space-fairing species, and didn’t regularly hunt any other sapient species on Enith. They were mostly oceanic, flying long distances like albatross, so they fed on primarily fish. They did spend time on land, but did so mostly in the deserts of the drier islands. This, combined with their strange language, made them a mystery to the other sapients until well into the final dark ages. Present-day they are dramatically better known, with some Taysya-class ships and space stations allowing them to travel the stars with their sibling sapients.
Tarahsit (t-air-rah-sit) sure do exist. They’re entirely oceanic, so they are unable to join the others in space. They’re isolation and their languages being even stranger than the Taysya’s made them virtually unknown as sapient until even after the final dark ages. But today they are fairly well documented, and are included in Enithian society to the extent that they can be.
There is… another species that is currently being debated as sapient. But five sapient species coming out of Enith is already ridiculous, how could there be sixth?

years ago I made this like species of magical cats with antlers bc i wanted to make smth like warrior cats and my little pony
anyway this is aurora starstep and moonboy (just moonboy) aurora is a priest but fake (his antlers arent real & he has no magical/spiritual ability) and moonboy is obsessed w the moon princess but she's (believed to be) dead so he goes to priests to try and speak to her. hence the name. miraculously aurora has been the only one so far who can reach her 🤔

YEAS I LOVE OG SPECIES
What is it :0
AHHHHHHH HIII YAY ASKS SO HERE WE GO
The species name is under construction but so far theyre chrombeasts
Theyre a certain dragon type creature consisting of color matter! Most of their outer body is made of of thick smooth ink and feel similarly to a sting ray in texture! Their insides consist of mainly light reflections and blood of a specific hue that depends on genetics (similar to human eye color) their eyes are hollow and have no pupils other than the set coloring of their blood. They have mouths similar to what i imagine toothless from httyd would and have retractable spines that spike when angry, these spines also protrude around the neck and ankles as protective gaurd. They produce low humming and trilling sounds as communication which eventually can become grumbling roars when angered making them silent predators. They are also opportunist omnivores so they eat practically everything they have access to. Including the sentient demons in the realm they reside in (uncommon but not impossible!)

Honestly I’d really like to make some kind of MLP AU or redesign/rewrite or whatever else of the sort because MLP was essentially my first fandom and it’s extremely nostalgic to me, but I’ve seen so many people do it already and have found myself physically incapable of producing something that isn’t blatantly copying what other people have done :/

AU where jaskier has never felt right. his parents are rich, get him the most recent iphones, but they suppress his desire to sing. and he can just FEEL that he's different, somehow. he likes to sit on the roof and stargaze, feels a connection somewhere out there, in the deep dark of the night.
until one night, a ship lands in his parents large, expansive grounds. a creature climbs put-- bipedal, humanoid, but... different. it looks at him, seems to... scan him. claims its name is geralt, and its something like a space bounty hunter. and then asks him if he'd like to come along.
jaskier is an alien, who for unknown reasons was cloaked by his birth parents before being left on this unknown planet, earth. and the only way to fix it, to show what he's really supposed to look like, is to find his people, who will have the key to deactivating it. in doing so, he'll also get a chance to see the place he came from, to understand why he feels the way he does, to find a place where he belongs.
(geralt presumes there'll be a reward for returning jaskier, but he's also a bleeding heart who cant just leave someone stranded)
and that's how they start traveling together
(vaguely inspired by:)

Hi hello hey can you give me as many detail as you want about your Star Trek au concept so I can draw it pretty please, go nuts 👍
(tbh creature staring) oh boy you have... opened the floodgates my friend... oh boy.. oh man oh man
i'll do the basics to start
the ship is called the USS Orpheus. NCC-2719. Excelsior Class. she's a beauty, and she's brand new. the mission: exploration.
her captain? none other than Ren K'ing, a Romulan officer who climbed the ranks and is a stickler for Starfleet regulation. like. painfully so.
Commander B-00-100 ("Bdoubleo" or "Bdubs) serves as his second officer. Bdubs is a human clone. while he was one of the first to actually function, he also defected from what was intended of him pretty quickly. luckily, though, his individual sentience was encouraged, and he joined Starfleet! (Zedaph loves having Bdubs on board to learn about)
we then have, for the bridge crew...
Second Officer/Communications Officer: Lieutenant Cleo, a Kobali
Chief Engineer: Lieutenant Mumbo K. Jumbo, species yet undecided
Chief Science Officer: Lieutenant Zedaph, a Grazerite
Chief Medical Officer: Lieutenant (Jr.) Joe Hills, a Human from Nashville, TN
Helmsman: Ensign Pearlescent "Pearl" Moon, an Aenar Andorian
Navigator: Ensign Gemini Tay, species tbd
Chief Tactical Officer: Ensign Etho, a Vulcan (though i've jumped through some hoops to make his design fit with Vulcans)
Security Chief: Commander Scar Goodtimes, a Vexian (my own alien race based on Vexes i'm already very deep in design and culture god help me)
Operations Officer: Commander Xisuma, a Kelpien
and then the rest of her crew...
Engineering:
Ensign Eight of Five "Iskall", a defected Borg
Lieutenant Seven of Seven "Doc", a defected Borg
Ensign Jevin, a Changeling
Ensign Keralis, species tbd
Ensign Tango Tek, a Xahean
Science:
Lieutenant Cubfan, a Vexian
Ensign Hypno, species tbd
Commander "Vintage" Beef, a Human (might change)
Medical:
Ensign Stress Monstah, alien species tbd
Lieutenant XB Crafted, species tbd
Security:
Lieutenant False Symmetry, species tbd
Ensign Impulse, a Taxor
Lieutenant Wels Knight, species tbd
where is grian, you might ask? well you see. Grian is part of the alien race called The Watchers. they are entirely unknown to the Federation until the USS Orpheus falls into a rift in a subspace bubble. within that rift-- within that bubble-- they find a lone planet circling a star. on that planet are the Watchers. a species who never interact or interfere with anything that falls through the rift. it's their way! they only ever observe. watch.
of course, Grian is a pesky little bird. and he does not follow that tradition at all.
the USS Orpheus has to send down a landing party to retrieve something from the planet's surface in order to repair their ship from passing through the rift. Scar, being chief of security and also able to talk himself out of pretty much any situation is sent down. because it's first contact and there's no warp signature from the planet, they only send Scar down bc... they can't really risk breaking the Prime Directive.
but uh. yeah. scar runs into grian pretty quickly.
i have. so much brainrot over the watchers and the vexians already too. and also etho's backstory. and ethubs history. and just. so much. so much brainrot. i'm. very excited to share stuff hehehe... esp considering i'm working on some design sheets for some of these guys, esp the vexians/watchers and some of my other alien blorbos <3

Yet another Tethyr woo.
Tethyr Ustura
Their goop is created in a much more violent manner compared to other tethyrs, in small internal explosion, the benefit of this is that it can instantly expell a portion of excess mass immediately, but this also causes much more heat compared to other tethyrs, and a bigger need of “fuel” to continue the internal combustion.
Older T. Ustaras master using their explosive innards to their advantage, learning how to boost themselves with it, making them quite mobile.
