Fictober 22 - I chose you
Fanfiction - Fandom: Detective Pikachu/Pokemon
Warnings: Alcohol consumption, discussion of death
A/N: This is a continuation of my fanfic Heart of Gold on AO3. Several OCs (Alison and her Emolga), happens post Detective Pikachu movie.
~*~*~*~*~
Time alone in his dad's apartment was normal, if lonely. Tim was meant to man the phones but apparently, anyone who knows Harry Goodman already knows his cell phone number. The rare new clients were the only ones to call the landline or, more likely, to just knock on the door.
Tonight, his father had nothing planned (not that his father ever actually made plans), so when Harry said he had to be somewhere, Tim was worried…
Mostly about what state his father and Pikachu would be in when they returned. Especially without Alison there as backup. Somehow she could take one whiff of Harry and — snap — she knew what he’d been up to.
In the background, Tim threw on the Pokemon League network on television. Huge news had broken from the Unova League that a star trainer had been attacked by Team Plasma in an effort to free all his 'hostages' (Pokemon). It was the first emergence of Team Plasma in a long time, and it wasn't even in the Unova Region.
"Okay," Harry said from the front door, kicking it and rattling the glass pane when it wouldn't open. "Pikachu… can you just… jiggle the handle… More! Argh!"
Tim stood and waited at the door, watching his father’s silhouette struggle.
“Turn the key… just… I’m gonna drop her… Emolga? Hey… Where did Emolga go?”
And that was Tim's cue. Flipping the lock, Tim put his shoulder into the door, lifted it slightly, and yanked it open with a jarring screech. Pikachu skittered around, startled, then settled between Harry and… Alison.
His girlfriend. Who was asleep… or…
“Perfect. You can take it from here,” Harry dumped her into Tim’s arms. “I’m going to find her equally frustrating and possibly drunk partner.”
“What happened? Why didn’t you send me to get Alison?” Like you always do. Because she’s my girlfriend!
Harry sniffed as he rubbed his nose. “Uh… well… You might want to ask her. She’ll hit me for telling you.”
Pikachu screeched, “Pika,” from the top of the stairs leading to the roof.
"Figures. Wonder how Em managed to get up there so quickly," Harry scoffed. "Darn, drunk Emolga."
Well, Alison certainly smelled like alcohol. With her arm wrapped around his neck, Tim shuffled his incredibly drunk girlfriend to the couch. She fell like a Snorlax on the pavement at nap time. Tim brushed her mostly brown hair from her face, though it just piled up at the side of her face in a mess. In her dreamy state, Alison brushed his hand away.
“Why didn’t you call me?” Tim asked, more as a rhetorical statement than anything.
"Hmmm," Alison grumbled. "You don't drink. Tonight…" Her words slurred together, almost incoherent, but he was used to her drunk ramblings now. They happened far less than when he met her. If Alison went out drinking, it was with her friends and him and didn't end in belligerent drunkenness. "Tonight," she started again, with her eyes still closed, "is an anniversary. Clearly, I needed to celebrate."
“Celebration? Did you pretend to be asleep so my dad wouldn’t yell at you?”
"No." Alison hugged her arms closer and pushed into the couch cushions. "Yes. And you don't drink, so why come celebrate two years since..."
Anniversary? Of…
Two years?
Oh.
"You haven't had a partner," Alison mumbled. "You wouldn't understand. Just figured…"
Tim moved precariously to the edge of the couch cushion and turned her so she could see him. “Well, you’re wrong about something.”
“Mmmm?” Alison shielded her eyes from the light of the television.
"I have a partner." Tim grabbed his phone from his back pocket and found his food delivery app. Dumplings would be good. Alison loved dumplings when she was drunk.
“You don’t…”
"I chose you," Tim said, kissing her gently on her forehead. "Wish I could have met Cu. He trained you well."
“I’m not a Pokemon.”
Tim insisted, “But you’re my partner.”
Harry kicked in the door with a nerve-wracking shuddering of glass. “Did you actually let Emolga drink? Like, seriously, Ali? What is wrong with you?” He set the little ‘mon down. She took a step and tripped.
Tim increased the number of dumplings in the order. Who knew how much Emolga would eat too.
“I’m going out. Make sure she doesn’t puke everywhere,” Harry said from the hallway.
Pikachu padded around the hallway entrance, watching Alison moan miserably. “Pika pi?”
“Don’t worry, Pikachu. She’ll be fine. Both of them will be,” Tim reassured the little ‘mon.
Emolga stumbled across his partner and curled into a ball on Alison's thighs. A burp came from both girls at the same time. Ugh… Tim grabbed a garbage can, placing it near Alison's head. It would be a long night.
"Hmmm… dumplings?" Alison asked, trying to shift but unable to move much with Emolga on her lap.
"Already ordered." Tim slid to the floor, feeling Alison twist behind him and her arms draped across his neck. A pungent kiss smacked Tim on the cheek. Then… he heard another burp. "Aim for the garbage can, please." He jiggled the can.

March Writing Prompts
February was bad. I got some stuff done, just ... ...
Anyway, March's main writing prompt is:
Start with a title. (Right now, I got nothing. Maybe I'll google something and see what materializes in my head)
The optional prompts are:
2. Getting snowed in. (I may or may not have a pre-existing plot bunny for this, but if I don't, this is an easy trope for a fanfic, or whatever.)
3. SONGS FOR FICS: MATURE/EXPLICIT-RATED: Holy (King Princess). The Songs for Fics concept is that you take the context of the lyrics and then create a story. I have a bunch of songs and they have different ratings and categories, depending on the song. There is already an idea forming for this one.
4. (MOVIE QUOTE) Pikachu: I've never been so flattered and creeped out at the same time. (Pokemon Detective Pikachu)
5. (TV QUOTE) John Munch: Oh, there you are, you demonic little furball. (Law & Order: SVU)
The TV and movie quotes can be altered and (obviously) used out of context from their original source.
These prompts can be used for original works as well as fanfiction.

🔥for pokemon!
Oh this is gonna be a lot easier, lol.
-I feel like lot of criticisms of Pokemon as a story are in bad faith. Pokemon is a setting, not a cohesive narrative. It's a world. It is large, has a lot of things in it, and things happen in that world. Some of the things are cool, others are stupid. Just like in real life. I personally think that's what makes it so much fun. (I also LOVE reading fanfictions and worldbuilding head canons for it.)
-Mewtwo isn't overrated. It left a lasting impression with a lot of people because they are to date the singular Pokemon with the most consistent and complex characterization. Most Pokemon, especially in the games, are not characters. They are episodic plot devices/mcguffins or effectively toys with stat-sheets. We project characterization onto them through our own experiences playing the games, which is why a lot of fans have different favorites or personal stories to go along with them. Which is fine in its own right! But there's no canon answer to where your starter Pokemon in your first game came from, or what its story is before meeting you. We all know Mewtwo's story, which makes them a legitimate character and fun to talk about. (Obviously there's exceptions like Ash's Pikachu or Team Rocket's Meowth, but I couldn't tell you a damn thing about my Ceruledge in Pokemon Violet, even though I love it to bits.)
-I don't think most Pokemon translate well into a realistic art style. I liked Detective Pikachu as a movie, quite a lot actually, but most of the Pokemon designs in that movie are either unsatisfying to look at or kind of creepy. I still want there to be another movie though.
-I didn't finish Pokemon Sword because I didn't like the soccer aesthetic. I don't know if this is unpopular or not though.
-It's absolutely criminal that I can't find merch of Finizen or Palafin on the Pokemon Center website.
-This is probably just a me thing but I find it a bit disappointing that a lot of people who want to bring Pokemon in D&D want to make their setting basically only Pokemon. Bring Pokemon into the Forgotten Realms! It'll be fun! Imagine mind flayers making a Pokemon go through Ceremorphosis! Have a wizard do some rules-lawyering to enter himself into a Pokemon tournament!
-I love when humans try fighting Pokemon in canon and I wish it would happen more. This might just be the Floridawoman in me, but people are weird and we like to fight things.
Edit: I have another one. Whatever team does the setting art design for the Pokemon movies needs to be brought on to help out with the games. The Pokemon movies, both the good and the bad ones consistently have beautiful backgrounds and props. If the games insist on going in the open world direction, they could definitely use the help with set design.

Tag people you would like to get to know better
Thanks for the tag! @citruscloudsandmoon ❤️
[ 1 ] Three ships
Sasuke x Sakura
Tumblr media
I just love how unique their dynamic is and how different they are from other Naruto ships and fictional ships in general. So much hate, hypocrisy and double standards are involved in spouting them but I never cared. It just increases my love for the ship, and Sasuke Retsuden absolutely nailed it in improving their dynamic!
Hyakkimaru x Mio
Tumblr media
They are my new ship and since I'm currently watching Dororo, I can't refrain from mentioning them. They are absolutely one of the cutest, pure and genuine ships but sadly their story became a tragedy 😭 They both loved each other so much that they deserved a happy ending, I'm so sad 😞
Kane x Salima
Tumblr media
Probably, the only couple in this list where there aren't enough canon implications to prove their romantic relationship, but from the anime it really gives me a feeling that Salima actually does like him because who would risk their life so much that they don't even mind falling debris? Well, but one fanfiction triggered me to like this ship and till date, my fondness for them never ceased. They aren't popular but who cares? It made me love them more 🥹♥️
[ 2 ] First ship
Tumblr media
I really wonder what to say about this because I don't remember what I shipped first as a child, but I'll tell Nobita and Shizuka from Doraemon. I don't watch that show even for a bit now, but one day when I heard that they officially got married, I was glad for them 😭♥️
[ 3 ] Last song
Mannile, a Tamil song from the movie Mazhai.
[ 4 ] Last movie
Varisu, a Tamil movie but before that I watched Detective Pikachu if considering a more well recognised movie globally.
[ 5 ] Currently reading?
I'm not reading anything but my textbooks because I have exams coming up and don't feel like reading anything apart from that (that too I am waiting to stop reading them 😭).
[ 6 ] Currently watching?
Tumblr media
Dororo!
Well, someone would love to watch something while reading and studying haha.
I am being honest.... I never thought that I would be so attached and interested towards it when I decided to give it a try. But the anime is so damn good with so many emotions and elements. I love stories revolving around samurai and the setting is just classic. I totally love Hyakkimaru so much and he became another crush of mine 🥹♥️
[ 7 ] Currently consuming?
I'm not consuming anything at the moment, I'm heading off to sleep. But I had Dosa and Fish.
[ 8 ] Currently craving?
Maggie noodles! And maybe Biriyani or chicken roll 😭
Tagging: @elves-of-the-east @rainbow-pearls @swagsukeuchiha @iheartsasu @johnnymcgregor @clovdyhi @lamponellatempesta @koifishart @juliafernandez @kuroinana @half-baked-biscuit @teabiscs @bellaelizabethsmith and anybody who sees this.

Fanfiction Summary. Pikachu Detective Training Academy.
This isn't keeping with the format that requires a pairing of any kind at all alongside the title, but I'll allow it this time.
Detective Pikachu finds themself bored without a case to solve. As such, a decision is made: Train up a school of Pikachu detectives!
That was easier said than done, it seemed.

Short Mewtwo fic/drabble thing. Contains Detective Pikachu spoilers. (listen the DP Mewtwo is the same one from Mewtwo Strikes back they’re the same dang it)
AO3 link will be in a reblog to avoid the tumblr algorithm murdering me
“Don’t cry, Mewtwo. You should be happy. You’re alive, and life is wonderful.”
Life is wonderful, they remember, even if they don’t know how, don’t remember who said this to them, don’t know where this thought came from.
Life is wonderful, they repeat. Life is wonderful, but… why?
They know nothing, nothing but an empty ocean, nothing but the vague sense of nothingness. They wonder if they even are alive at all.
Then the sensations get stronger. Voices – other voices – get louder. They want to know what this is all about. They want to exist. They want to live.
They push this feeling, this desire to be, outward, and can hear the shattering of glass, the gushing of liquid from its containment. They land in the remains of the container that had kept them suspended, disoriented.
But then there are others speaking to him. These – these people, humans, scientists, refer to them as Mewtwo.
Two. As in copy, clone. Not original. Not even a pure copy. An amalgamation of Mew’s DNA, and changes that suited the scientists’ needs.
This… cannot be their destiny. This isn’t right. This isn’t what it should be.
(They can picture mountains and lakes, the sun and the moon, freedom, in their mind’s eye. They do not know where these images come from, only that they exist, and Mewtwo wants.)
They unleash their fury on the scientists. It is a confusing fury, they reflect later, after the lab is nothing but ruins and ash. They are angry with the scientists for not caring, for only seeing them as an experiment. They are furious that they have been brought into this world, a copy of something so great and pure. They are upset about even existing in the first place.
But then a new man arrives, promising partnership, and Mewtwo is too naïve and curious to refuse.
This turns out to be a mistake.
Humans, Mewtwo reflects, cannot be trusted. Giovanni attempts to control them, subdue them, and use them. Mewtwo will have none of it.
They destroy another prison, and flee. They could go and live in the wilds, avoiding humans and just… exist.
But their righteous fury has reached the breaking point.
(Life is wonderful, someone tells them. You’re alive, and life is wonderful.)
Life is not wonderful. Life is cruel, life is betrayal, life is torture and subjugation. Life, maybe just human life specifically – life is just evil. Humanity is evil.
This revelation, this decision, spurs them to that first lab, the place of their creation. Humans wanted to play with forces they didn’t understand? Fine. Mewtwo would show them what happens as a result of their narcissism and entitlement.
It takes several months, but they reactivate the cloning facility that birthed them, and get to work.
They have cloned other Pokémon, now, and are ready to show humanity how superior they are. They are ready to free Pokémon from the subjugation and control of humans.
Mewtwo decides to start by challenging promising young trainers of Kanto to a battle. But only the worthy may come; they plot to brew a storm so only the strongest and most willful can stand in their presence.
The young humans come, with their teams of Pokémon. And Mewtwo challenges them, and defeats them, and takes their strong Pokémon to clone to suit their needs.
But one young human defies logic, defies expectation. This young boy, Mewtwo learns later, is named Ash Ketchum, and he is a human of impulse and heart, compassion and determination. (Years later, Mewtwo will reflect back on how nothing in the world could have prepared them for the unstoppable force that is Ash Ketchum.)
And in the midst of the chaos, there is a familiar yet alien presence. There is someone else, like them, watching.
There is the original. It’s Mew.
Just the sight of them fills Mewtwo with rage.
This pink little kitten is what they originate from? This soft bundle of giggles spawned them, tall and imposing and powerful and angry? This small myth?
They fight. Mew seems unconcerned, despite the effort both are putting into this. Mewtwo never wonders why.
Then that crazy boy gets in the way.
“What are… these?”
“They’re tears. You’re crying.”
“Crying?”
“My daddy used to tell me a bedtime story that when Pokémon are sad, and they cry, their tears are filled with life.”
Mewtwo wipes the memories of the children and their Pokémon after that. They don’t deserve to live with those awful memories, not really. They’re young, and innocent, and naïve. From what Mewtwo has seen, humanity is evil. But it seems that not all humans in the world are bad.
Ash Ketchum proves this when he returns to Mewtwo’s life barely a year later. He saves their life, for no other reason than … he wanted to.
(“Do you always need a reason to help somebody?”)
They don’t wipe the memories of the kids, this time. Mewtwo does make sure to wipe the minds of everyone else, especially Team Rocket’s.
Ash Ketchum and his friends are good. The rest of humanity is… maybe not all evil, then. Mewtwo… can live with that.
“You’re alive, and life is wonderful.”
They realize soon after the irony of their powers. Mewtwo can wipe the minds of humans with ease, but at some point early in their life, someone else erased their memories, and now those memories are only coming back in fragments of words and images. They don’t know who was talking to them, only that… she… is gone.
It’s a bittersweet feeling, to know that someone cared about them, once, when they were young, before they had broken free into the world; but now that person, that little girl, is gone. She’s said goodbye, and she can never come back.
(“It feels… like it’s time… to say goodbye.”
“…Goodbye?”)
Mewtwo puts that in the past. The memories may come, or they may not. But they have their whole life ahead. Maybe they can finally experience the wonder of life now, free as they are.
“I have to go.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know. But it’s alright. Thank you for caring about me. And don’t cry Mewtwo. You should be happy. You’re alive, and life is wonderful.”
(Her name was Amber, they learn ten years later, when they return to New Island and go through old encrypted files that they had ignored in their earlier, angrier quest for retribution. Her name was Amber Fuji, and the scientist that had spoken to Mewtwo – that Mewtwo had likely killed – was her father. Heartbroken by her loss, he turned cold. He’d never cared about Mewtwo. Once Amber was gone, Mewtwo was just an experiment again, nothing more.)
(But Amber had cared about them. And they had cared about Amber, for what brief time they had known each other in that psychic in-between.)
(Mewtwo is alive, and maybe life hasn’t always been wonderful, but it’s been getting better, and they are now determined to make life wonderful, to spite the cruel world, and to honor Amber’s memory as best as they can.)
Twenty years, almost to the day, from when Mewtwo escaped from the people that created them, a man named Harry Goodman finds them.
Harry Goodman has a Pikachu partner, similar to Ash Ketchum. But Harry and his Pikachu are detectives, he explains. They search for clues, find evidence, and solve mysteries. They’ve been hired by scientists hoping to study Mewtwo in order to improve science and medicine – or so he’s been told.
They should be careful, Harry explains, because the humans working at that lab were discredited for malpractice, or uncertified, and gave off a secretive and mistrustful vibe. Harry took the assignment to find Mewtwo because he cared, and didn’t want this Pokémon to be hurt by people in over their heads.
Mewtwo appreciated the sentiment. But curiosity killed the Meowth – or in this case, the Mewtwo.
When the scientists and PCL immediately capture Mewtwo and shove them into a containment unit, Harry Goodman looks upset, but not necessarily shocked. He’d deduced this possible outcome. But as much as Mewtwo wants to know why, what the scientists are after –
They hate being caged. They will not go through this again, not after being free for so long.
The Pikachu fries the circuits, and Harry and Pikachu run. Mewtwo breaks free and follows, but can’t stop the Greninja in time.
Humanity is evil, but not all humans are bad.
The Pikachu wants to save its partner. Mewtwo… they can fix this. The scientists were saying that their psychic energy could merge humans and Pokémon together.
It’s not a perfect fix, but until Harry Goodman’s son can show up, Mewtwo is unable to fully heal the human. So, merging with his Pikachu it is.
And then Tim Goodman arrives, with Harry/Pikachu injured again. Healing Pokémon bodies is easier.
And they try to explain. They can heal Harry Goodman and Pikachu, right then and there – but somehow, the scientists have found them again, and interrupt.
They catch a glimpse in one mind – Howard Clifford wants not only Mewtwo’s powers, but their body. And technology has advanced so much that they just cannot escape.
Tim Goodman shows up alone, confused about which Clifford is at fault. Mewtwo screams at him to run, but then –
– They wake confused, and to a sensation of falling. They’re falling, and falling, and –
Mewtwo barely catches Harry/Pikachu before he hits the ground. They’re still slightly confused, but memories from when they were not in control come rushing back all at once, and they hear Tim asking if they can fix all this.
They can, and they do. Mewtwo fixes everything, sets everything in Ryme City to rights.
Humanity is evil, but not all humans are bad. Now Mewtwo has a small handful of humans that are definitively not evil, and are in fact – good.
That’s a nice feeling. Twenty years ago, fifteen years ago even, Mewtwo would have just fled, and maybe killed more humans than they already had. But to see that not every human is so heartless and self-centered – to see that there are humans out there who care just because it’s the right thing to do, humans who want to help, humans who are just good –
Maybe life isn’t so bad after all.
(If Ash Ketchum wakes to find Mewtwo hovering nearby, looking to talk about all they’ve seen and done and been subjected to after nearly twenty years – well. Who is he to say no?)
(If Tim and Harry Goodman return to their apartment to find Mewtwo curled up on their couch, just wanting someplace warm and cozy and comfortable to sleep without fear – well. Who are they to say no?)
(If Amber Fuji says that life is wonderful – well. Who is Mewtwo to say no?)
The world spins on. Mewtwo is one of the most powerful Pokémon to ever exist – but not the most powerful, as scientists had thought. That’s fine by them.
They still linger on the edges of society – human and Pokémon alike. They don’t really belong, don’t really fit, but that’s okay. They’ll help any in need. They’ll carve out their own place in the world.
Life, Mewtwo thinks, is wonderful, even if they had to wait a while to figure that out. It doesn’t matter how they came into existence. They’ve learned that all that matters is what you do with your life. That’s what determines who you are.
They’re alive, and life is wonderful after all.

Heart of Gold (Detective Pikachu Fanfic) Chapter 20
When Ali cracked her eyes open, the world was far too bright; it caused her head to go from a dull ache to pounding. Throbbing pulses beat against her eyes even with them closed. There were all of two windows in the entire apartment and currently made this entire waking process excruciating. On top of all that, tossing her blanket over her head didn’t keep this stupid light from the stupid sun from making the throbbing worse and ended up forcing her awake. However, she’d gotten home the night before had been a miracle.
A glass of water sat on the coffee table. Draining it helped. Ali was surprised she’d even had the foresight to put a glass of water anywhere near the couch. She could have just forgotten about the water and passed out, of course. Gods, no Legendaries, did Ali hate herself for drinking so much the night before.
Quickly, Ali checked her phone. Of course, the light from that sent a wave of nausea through her. Yoshida hadn't sent her anything since yesterday, so the investigation must still be ongoing. All she could remember before becoming blackout drunk was Lucy and her dumb accusation. Then storming off after crying like a daft little girl in front of Tim and finding a bar. Like she'd have done anything to kill her partner.
Fuck, she hated how bright mornings were.
When she could stand the noise of a shower, the harsh rhythm of brushing her teeth and hair, and trying to pull clothes on, Ali threw on a hat and sunglasses to withstand the glare of daylight and got the hell out of her apartment. Not until she was on the street did she realize there was nowhere to go. Which was quickly a problem on such a bright day. She needed to be out of the sun. She was too embarrassed to go to Harry's so early in the morning and very clearly hung over.
Been a while but finally updated this fanfic. Read the entire chapter here on AO3.

a movie for two? make that four. (Kaminari x Reader)
/I wrote this forever ago when I saw Detective Pikachu so I thought this was fitting! Hopefully you guys like it! Requests are always open, comments, likes, and reblogs are appreciated :)/
Kaminari wants to take you to a movie but he can’t do that without his best friends tagging along making sure everything goes smoothly!
---
“Guys I just really want to ask her!” Kaminari was pacing in his dorm while his two other friends were sitting on his bed watching the troubled teen.
“Then ask her stupid!” Bakugou snapped.
“It’s not that easy!” Kaminari countered. The air grew tense when he began pacing even faster, which just annoyed Bakugou all the more.
“Sure it is,” Kirishima interjected, “You just have to man up! Be confident.”
Bakugou gave out a long sigh; Kaminari stopped in his tracks looking at Kirishima like he just grew two heads. “What? Did I say something wrong?”
“Yes, you idiot,” Bakugou said, “We both know that sparky here is a fucking wimp.”
“I am not!” Kaminari argued, slightly hurt by Bakugou’s words.
“Dude,” Bakugou laughed, “You can’t even ask Y/N on a date!” A mischievous smile crossed his lips. “If you don’t do it then I will.”
Kaminari froze at Bakugou’s words, why would he even do that? To his best friend? “You wouldn’t,” Kaminari whispered.
Bakugou smirked, “Watch me.” Slipping his phone out of his pocket Bakugou started to dial your number. He showed Kaminari your name before pressing the call button. “It’s ringing.”
Kaminari flushed a deep red. “Fine! Fine! I’ll ask her! I’ll ask her!” He reached out and snatched the phone out of Bakugou’s hand. Kaminari shoved Bakugou and went to hang up the call, but he stopped when he heard your voice through the speaker.
“Hello? Hello?” Kaminari eyes grew wide when he heard your voice, he suddenly had no idea what to do and how to use a phone.
“Answer it!” Kirishima encouraged giving his friend a thumbs up.
Kaminari glanced as his friend and then down at the phone. Shaking his head he brought the phone up to his ear. “Hey! Hey Y/N its, uh, Kaminari?”
“Denki? Why do you have Bakugou’s phone?” He shuddered when you said his first name.
“Umm not sure?” He stuttered out. “Mine died.”
“Okay?” The confusion was obvious in your voice. “Is there something you needed?”
Kaminari let out a huff, “Yeah.” He answered. There was a long, silent pause; he didn’t even notice.
You pulled him from his thoughts, “Well? What is it?” You sounded annoyed at this point.
Kaminari felt his hands get sweaty, he didn’t want to make you angry after all. “Um,” He paused, looking up at his two friends, Kirishima gave him a toothy smile and Bakugou just stared at him with a frustrated look, “Would you want to go see a movie with me tonight?” His fear made it feel like the room was filled with molasses, it was so thick he was drowning in it. Each second that ticked by made the stone in his gut grow, weighing him down. He looked to his friends, wishing that there was something they could do.
“Hmmm, I don’t have any other plans. So I guess so.” You answered, Kaminari relaxed his shoulders and left out a sigh, smiling into the phone.
“Well, heh, okay, I’ll stop by your dorm later to pick you up.” Kaminari spat out a nervous laugh,  giving his two friends a thumbs up.
Kirishima silently cheered while Bakugou shot his yellow-haired friend a smile and nodded his head. They watched as Kaminari said goodbye before clicking the red button. He pumped his fist into the air. “Guys! Holy shit I did it!” Kaminari happily exclaimed.
“Yeah, you’re fucking welcome,” Bakugou said dryly, snatching his phone from Kaminari’s hand.
Kaminari glared at Bakugou and then turned to Kirishima with hopeful eyes. “You guys gotta help me!” Dropping to his knees Kaminari tugged at their pant legs.
“Dude! Chill! It’ll be fine! Just be yourself.” Kirishima smiled.
“Ha! That's the worst he can be.” Bakugou countered.
Kaminari scowled at Bakugou and got up off the floor. He then began to pace, his thoughts running across his face. The other two watched as Kaminari started muttering to himself about how he could win you over in one night, trying to think of a way to impress you.
“Will you just fucking relax? We’re here to help.” Bakugou yelled.
Kaminari stopped, now turning to look at his friends once more. “Really? You guys are gonna help me?”
“Well, yeah.” Kirishima nodded.
“Okay, how?” Kaminari said hopefully.
“Easy, we’ll come with you!” Kirishima said pointing to Bakugou and then himself.
“Wait, what?” Kaminari’s smile faltered.
“Okay so,” Kirishima started. “It’ll be like those movies where one friend goes out with a girl and the other ones wear earpieces to help them say the right things and stuff! It’ll totally be awesome!”
Kaminari just nodded to what Kirishima was explaining, agreeing that was the plan they were going to do. Bakugou just rolled his eyes muttering how this was never going to work.
“Okay, that would actually be really helpful! Thanks, guys!” Kaminari said beaming at his other two friends, “I’m going to go tell her the movie details and I’ll call you guys later.”
With that Kaminari gave his friends a wave goodbye as they went down the opposite end of the hallway, Kaminari making a beeline to your dorm that was just down the hall. When Kaminari stopped in front of your door he feels as though the gears in his brain turned off, like he overused his quirk and now turned stupid. He took a second before lifting his fist and banging it on the door, waiting for you to answer. He stood for a minute listening to rummaging in the room before you opened the door with a huff than a smile.
“Hey Kaminari, you made it!”
“Of course I did, why wouldn’t I?” He gave you a nervous smile.
You smiled up at him, “I knew you would. Would you like to come in?” You opened the door wider and stepped back so he could come inside your dorm. With a smile Kaminari stepped through the door and looked around, it wasn’t the first time but he wanted to clear the awkward air by not looking at you.
You turned around after closing the door, you sighed, “Sooo. What movie are we seeing?” Now standing in front of him.
He smiled down at you, “Detective Pikachu! Duh!” You laughed, it was only fitting he would want to go see that specific movie. He nervously scratched his neck, becoming worried you wouldn’t want to see it, “If that’s okay?” He asked.
“I don’t mind, it looks okay.” Hearing you say that made Kaminari even more nervous. Looked okay. Just okay. Well shit. How is he going to win you over now? He’s just glad he has his two best friends to help him.
“Um okay, it starts at 6 tonight so I’ll come back around 5 okay?” He asked nervously moving towards the door again. You opened the door and nodded.
“See you then!” You waved and shut the door. He sighed and got out his phone to text his two other friends to see where they were. He started walking back to his dorm when he got a notification from his phone from Kirishima telling him to meet him in his dorm. Kaminari started for the elevator and then found himself in front of his friend's door, he knocked and waited for an answer. When he finally got one he was met with his friend smiling down at him.
“Oh! Bro, you’re finally here! Come in!” He said opening the door wider for him to get through. Kaminari walked through and saw Bakugou sitting at Kirishima’s desk, giving him a smile and a wave he took a seat on the bed. Kirishima closed the door and turned to the other two with a smile.
“Okay, so, I talked to Yaoyorozu and she made us these,” Kirishima said excitedly holding out the earpieces and tiny microphones. He handed one to Bakugou and Kaminari and kept one for himself. “So, Kaminari you’ll wear the earpiece and Bakugou and I will have the microphone so you can hear us.” Kaminari nodded. He looked at the earpiece and placed it in his ear, the other two mimicked. Kirishima held up the microphone to his mouth and yelled causing Kaminari to flinch.
“Dude! What the hell!” Kaminari scowled.
“Oh sorry.” Kirishima laughed, “I just wanted to see if it was working.”
Bakugou started laughing, “You both are so dumb.”
When it was finally time to leave for the movie, you and Kaminari were standing in the common area. He stood looking at the couches and walls awkwardly waiting for you to tie your shoe.
“Make sure you open up the door for her.” Kirishima’s voice rang out in Kaminari’s ear. Kaminari makes a mental note of Kirishima’s advice. Kaminari has been nothing but worried all night, he knows that his two friends will have a lot of advice and things to say… What if he can’t remember all of it? What if you don’t like him? Wha-
“Are you ready to go?” Your voice broke his thoughts, you were now standing up looking at him. He nodded and walked you to the door and opened it for you, taking Kirishima’s advice. When you both got about halfway to the theater the wind started to pick up. Kirishima and Bakugou noticed this too, trailing behind you and Kaminari trying to stay out of sight.
“Offer her your jacket Sparky.” Bakugou commented through the microphone, “It’s fucking cold.”
Kaminari thought for a second and turned to you, still walking, “Here,” He was taking his jacket off now. “Take this, it’s getting cold.” He finished sliding it onto your shoulders. You let out a small thanks and snuggled into his jacket, noticing how it smelled exactly like him. You looked ahead of you again and continued walking, unaware of the other two following behind.
Once you both got to the theatre, Kaminari opened up the door for you once again. You smiled at him and headed for the ticket stand.
“Pay for her ticket! Only gentlemen do that!” Kirishima commented him and Bakugou sat on a bench, waiting for you both to get tickets.
Kaminari quickly got in front of you and spoke to the theater worker before you could. “Two tickets to Detective Pikachu please!” He handed the worker the money and handed you your ticket as you both walked to the concession stand.
“You know, you didn’t have to do that.” You hit your shoulder with his, looking up at him.
“It wasn’t a problem. Do you want anything to eat? I’ll get some popcorn.” He replied.
“That would be nice.” Smiling at him.
He paid for the large popcorn and handed it to you with a smile, you both started walking up the usher and Kaminari turned to see Kirishima giving him a thumbs up and Bakugou just staring with a blank expression.
You both sat down in your seats and Kaminari turned around to see his friends now sitting a few rows behind you two. When the movie started Kaminari kept glancing at you and when you would notice he would get wide-eyed and would stare at the screen.
“Stop fucking staring at her like a creep!” Bakugou whisper-screamed, “Put your arm around her or something.” Kaminari’s face got red and he lifted up his hand and yawned, then moving his arm to put it around your shoulder.
You looked over at him, “Smooth.” You whispered and smirked, putting your head on his shoulder. He turned even redder than before and continued to stare at the screen.
As you both continued to watch the movie, the other two would make comments interrupting Kaminari’s focus, “You wanna know what’s gonna happen?” Bakugou said to Kirishima during the end.
“Don’t tell me, I don’t want it spoiled.”
“It’s obvious! Are you that stupid?”
Kaminari would turn around and glare at them, silently telling them to shut up.
“Who’re you looking at?” You questioned, motioning behind you.
Kaminari stammered, “Uh, no one, just, uh, people talking, annoying, you know?”
You gave him a knowing look, “Just ignore them.” If only it was that easy.
When the movie ended, Kirishima and Bakugou booked it outside so you two wouldn’t see them. Kaminari leads you to the door and opened it for you, starting to walk beside you, back to the dorms.
“Hold her hand,” Kirishima suggested, walking about ten feet behind you both. Kaminari suddenly grabbed your hand, which made you jump in surprise.
Kaminari pulled back, embarrassed that he caused your outburst, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to, uh, startle you.”
You glanced up at him and took his hand back in yours, “It was my fault, you surprised me.”
He smiled and you two continued to walk down the street.
“I think this date is going pretty well,” Kirishima announced with pride.
“Whatever. I can’t wait to get back” Bakugou commented.
“C’mon Bakugou, it was fun!” Kirishima argued.
“Whatever you say.” Bakugou huffed.
There was a pregnant pause until Kirishima started talking again. “You know what you’re going to have to do right?” Talking to Kaminari, there was no response since he didn’t have a microphone, but Kirishima knew he was listening. “You have to kiss her!” He informed his friend.
Kaminari gulped at the thought, his cheeks growing hot. He always played the part of the sleaze but now that he had an actual crush on someone it was so hard talking to them. How the hell was he going to muster up the courage to kiss you? He only had a couple of minutes to figure it out, since the dorms weren’t that far away now. He had to think, should he do it when you both get to the door? Or walk her to her room and then do it? Or maybe in the common area? But people might be there?
“Aren’t you going to open up the door for me?” You joked. Kaminari slightly jumped at your voice, interrupting his thoughts once more.
“Wait a second.” You both made it to the dorms, he didn’t even notice. He had to act fast.
You gave him a confused look, “...Okay? Are you okay?”
Kirishima noticed you both had stopped, he put his arm in front of Bakugou to get him to stop too, “Now’s your chance buddy.” He said to Kaminari through the microphone.
“I have to tell you something.” Kaminari declared to you. You nodded and he went on, “I uh.” Shit, his heart dropped as he felt his newfound confidence had gone out the imaginary window. He opened his mouth, and then closed it, his cheeks growing red with embarrassment. Then he felt something warm on his lips, he opened his to find you were kissing him, he let out a surprised hum before kissing you back, electricity flowing through you both. When you finally pulled apart from him he stood there still shocked you had kissed him, maybe you did feel the same way after all.
“I like you too.” You smiled at him, “I knew that’s what you were gonna tell me. It was obvious.” You laughed
Kaminari scratched his head, laughing at your confession. Completely unaware of his two other friends watching the scene unfold.
“He didn’t kiss her, but at least he got a kiss,” Kirishima said watching the other two talk.
“What a coward,” Bakugou responded. “Now, show me what Pokémon cards you got from the movie.”
