‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:1‭-‬4‬ (‭NIV‬‬). “My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:3‬ ‭(AMP‬‬). “Do not let mercy and kindness and truth leave you [instead let these qualities define you];Bind them [securely] around your neck,Write them on the tablet of your heart.”
“God’s Guide to a Fruitful Life” By In Touch Ministries:
“Is the character of the Savior increasingly evident in you?”
“Jesus told His disciples, “I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit” (John 15:5). As we live the Christian life in dependency on the Holy Spirit, two things will become evident in us.
1. We treasure God’s Word. When we value something, we think about it, study it, and learn all we can about it. By studying the Bible, we learn about God’s character, plans, and promises. Scripture meditation develops our ability to think biblically and deepens our relationship with the Lord. One of the indications that we treasure His Word is a change in behavior—decisions will increasingly be guided by His principles, and actions will reflect the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
2. We adorn ourselves with kindness and truth. These two virtues are to be our constant companions. God’s truth has the power to expose ungodly attitudes and behaviors, not only in us but also in others. When this happens, kindness helps to protect relationships from damage. What’s more, it can prevent discord and division in churches. God wants us to speak the truth to one another—but to make sure we do it with loving compassion.
As we walk with the Lord, He’ll grow His fruit in us and teach us to follow Him.”

I Might Be Wrong
5/31/23
christians use the word "faith" a lot. It's one of the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Unfortunately, I have that list memorized.
I lived by the fruits of the spirit as a teenager. There were a lot of rules given by the church about who I should be, but fewer rules in the bible, at least ones that made sense. But this was a list I could get behind: character traits I could work on developing that would make me both a good candidate for heaven, and a good wife and mother.
Gross.
Anyway, in a recent interview I gave, the interviewer asked me to explain my current theological stance, since I had identified myself as an exvangelical. I explained that I prefer "agnostic," although it certainly wouldn't offend me if someone called me atheist. And when he asked me why I had chosen agnostic over atheist, I found myself surprised by my own response. I said something along the lines of, "Well, if you think about it, atheism requires just as much faith as christianity. christians must have unshakeable faith that god exists; atheists have to have just as much faith that god doesn't exist. Neither is provable."
And then I said, to my own surprise: "Ultimately, I just try to stay as far away from faith as possible."
I was surprised because of how true it was.
If I can't have faith in god, I also can't have faith in no god.
Do I think the christian god exists? Obviously not. But atheism requires the belief that "No god exists," which is also something I can't confidently commit to. Especially when you look at the broad expanse of the word "god." It's been used in so many ways over the millennia. Even the bible says, "you shall have no other gods before me" which implies the presence of other gods—and whether they are actual or made up or metaphorical doesn't really matter. It still falls under the definition of "god." Not to mention, plenty of people use the term "god" to mean something like "universal consciousness" which... isn't impossible, as far as I can see.
You know how they say that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference? I think the same is true of christianity. The opposite of christianity is not atheism—it's agnosticism.
Ask a christian how they know their god is the True god, as opposed to, for example, Allah or Zeus or Ra, and inevitably they will get around to saying, "I have faith."
Cool.
I don't.
I don't have faith.
That is not a thing I have.
And I never will have it—not in the christian god, not in the muslim god, not in any of the myriad gods who have risen and fallen throughout history. Nor even in the lack of god. I don't even have faith in physics! Damn physicists keep changing our understanding of the foundational framework of the universe! It's great, don't get me wrong. But definitely worth holding onto a little disbelief, even in things that are supposedly True.
After I said I stayed as far away from faith as possible, the interviewer then said to me, "Well, you must have some faith in something. How else do you ride in airplanes?"
But the thing is, I don't need faith to ride in airplanes. I have my understanding of physics. I have the evidence of mine own eyes. I have a mind that I can use to understand to the best of my ability. It's not perfect. But it is better than nothing, which is all christianity has.
You could make the argument that I must have faith in something, because that's just what it means to be human, and I can't know everything about everything all the time. I wouldn't disagree with you.
I also wouldn't agree.
I'd stay solidly somewhere in the bounds of "maybe."
Perhaps some version of faith in something is an inevitable part of life.
But I definitely don't have to have blind faith. I don't have to have stupid faith. I don't have to have immoral faith.
I do not have to have faith in a god who never deigned to honor me with his presence, nor logic, nor reason, nor answers.
I do not have to have faith in a god who in one moment condemns entire cities to death, and in the next professes his profound love for humans.
I do not have to have faith in a god who lets children die for no fucking reason, and forces women to bear the children of their rapists, and who would chop a woman into pieces because of the sins of men.
Who would command a man to kill a child to prove his "faith."
I do not have to have faith. Faith is taught, learned. And it can be unlearned.
Ultimately, I may never be able to fully reject every modicum of faith. But this isn't about having a black and white answer. It's about an approach to life. Anytime I stumble across a bubble of faith hiding away somewhere in my brain, I beat it with a stick (aka knowledge), until either it disintegrates, or turns into a fuzzy cloud of "I don't know and that's okay."
It's okay to not know. It's okay to be wrong. But I don't have to give in to faith either. Instead, I can accept the gray area. I don't need faith. I simply need to be willing to continually learn, and willing to admit that I might be wrong.
"This is a question I do not have an answer for," I will say. "But I have made this choice anyway. I might be wrong. But it's okay."

Where are the “Fruits of The Spirit”?!
So how come there's no lore or characters based off of the "Fruits of The Spirit"? You see plenty of the "7 Deadly Sins" being portrayed in theology and media (video games, movies, shows, etc.), but nothing for the fruits! I want to change that.
Seeing VivziePop's whacky and unique designs for the "sins" in her show(s) finally inspired me to take on this character design challenge I had lingering about in my brain. So the other day I developed my concept of the "Fruits of The Spirit" being their own unique characters.
I'm going to give a brief summary of each of the 9 spirits: Love, Joy, Peace, Forbearance, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control. And this is just the early foundation of my idea, so there'll probably be some tweaking and/or adding to them.
These 9 spirits are close friends. They work together to better the lives of others, from fighting demons to assisting people on earth.
The spirit of Love is currently a mystery to me. I do not yet know if they are Jesus himself, some other being, or the combined parts of the other 8 spirits. All I know so far is that they are a sort of figurehead (leader, ultimate combined power, etc.) in the group.
The spirit of Joy is a tall ballerina radiating a yellow glow. Her name is Dawn, and she's a happy, bubbly gal. She's constantly leaping about or soaring through the air with the aid of the wings on her ankles. She has halo-shaped antlers, short flouncy hair, and freckles.
The spirit of Peace looks very much like Mother Nature with rainbows wings, olive green skin and hair (with olive branches in the hair), and a Greek-style dress that comes to the floor and is made of running water. She can control clouds to bring about rain, storms, and the like.
The spirit of Forbearance/Patience has a face covered in eyes. Her skin is made of glass, which contains sand the color of the sky during all times of the day. In her torso is an hourglass that turns before the sand runs out on one side. She enjoys relaxing/meditative activities.
The spirit of Kindness and the spirit of Goodness are twins. They are reminiscent of Apollo and Artemis. Kindness is the sister and Goodness is the brother. They can telepathically talk to each other anywhere and at all times, and love to do secret acts of kindness for others.
The spirit of Faithfulness/Loyalty is a man of pure gold. He looks like an actor from the Golden Age of cinema or a groom happily waiting for his bride at the alter. He is married to Dawn and they are deeply in love with each other. His body and suit are invincible and immovable.
The spirit of Gentleness/Humility is an anthropomorphic lion with a mane of fire that does not burn. Like Superman he is incredibly strong and therefore is very gentle with his surroundings. He loves kids and has many with his wife, the spirit of Peace. His voice is soft but deep.
And the spirit of Self-control is like a freed slave. He wears a broken/unlocked chain. He also carries a tool belt which he can summon forth any sort of utility. His tool/weapon of choice is a hammer, which he'll use to impale a large heavenly nail into his foe.
I hope to have a full illustration (or at least drawing) of these guys soon.

By showing love like Jesus, being joyful , peace in knowing God, patience like God, kind like God because he saved us out of kindness, Goodness we should seek to help and care for others, faithfulness as God is so we must stay faithful, gentleness when we speak to others & self control so we can control our thoughts and actions.

Fruits Series : Gentleness / Mixed Media Surrealism
A year later, I have finished the second installment of my Fruits Of The Spirit series, Gentleness. (Visit this link to view my first, Peace.) I certainly don’t plan to take an year to get to each installment of this 10 part series, but I spent 2022 dipping my toe into a lot of new things career-wise, and ultimately deciding what my personal goals were and how I wanted to go forward. I was also…
