Suguru Getou & Kento Nanami
[Chapter 3] Awkwardness

Kento thinks that he should ask you out on a date but the nerves get to him at the mere thought of it. He’s so scared of rejection and ruining your friendship, so he’d rather just suffer silently through his feelings. But he thinks about how you act a lot like a couple, and that his second thoughts are holding back from something that could be amazing.
He also doesn’t want to take your attention away from your daughter but Kento guesses that you should start dating someone eventually. He’s also a perfect candidate since he loves Sayuri as if she were his own– But he also risks losing that if you reject him.
You invited him to join you for dinner, and he holds a bottle of wine for you two to share, and a toy for Sayuri. He knocks on the door, waiting for you to open the door and let him inside. He’s thinking if tonight is the right night to ask you out on a date, maybe during dinner he can suggest going out or after. He doesn’t have everything planned out yet, but he thinks he’s doing it tonight.
The door to your apartment opens, and Kento almost sighs when Suguru opens the door. Suguru rolls his eyes, but allows Kento inside because he can’t dictate who is and who isn’t allowed in your home. The last thing Suguru needs right now is another argument with you. Kento walks past Suguru without saying a word, and the moment he steps into the apartment, a sweet little voice yells his name which makes him crouch down to the floor to receive the hug Sayuri runs to give him.
“Do you want to see my new toy?” Sayuri asks when she pulls away, and Kento shows her the toy that he just got for her, which makes her gasp. She snatches it from his hands and runs to the living room to open it.
“What do you say, Sayuri?!” You yell, walking out of the kitchen to greet Kento. He chuckles handing you the bottle of wine before giving you a side hug.
“It’s fine, she’s just excited.” Kento says, and you click your tongue. Of course he’d say that, he supports anything and everything Sayuri does. But luckily it’s not a problem since Kento is just an uncle, for now at least. It’s a problem when Suguru does it.
“Sayuri!” You raise your voice, and she pouts before saying,
“Thank you, Nanamin.” Kento chuckles, putting his hands in his pockets as he walks to the kitchen. He manages to completely ignore Suguru, putting all his attention on you.
“Would you like a glass?” You ask Kento and he nods in response. You then look at Suguru who nods in response. You serve three glasses, handing the first one to Kento, and keeping one to yourself. The last one is left on the counter for Suguru to grab, and he rolls his eyes because you don’t bother handing it to him. He does know that you aren’t in his good graces because he’s been lacking as a parent lately and he’s been too noisy about your private life.
“There’s this new restaurant that opened near my apartment, do you want to go over the weekend?” Kento questions and you nod in response.
“Woah, not so fast. We have plans, remember?” Suguru chimes in, and Kento glares at the man. Plans? What could you two possibly do? Kento often forgets that Suguru is not just a pesky little bug that bothers your life but also the father of your child.
“Right… We have our little family trip over the weekend. I forgot.” You say, and Suguru sighs at the evident disappointment in your voice. You’d invite Kento along but you know the whole trip will be tense– Kumi is joining you though, so how much different could it possibly be if Kento tags along. “You should join us.”
“No! Absolutely not.” Suguru immediately replies, and you glare at him. Suguru takes his glass of wine and walks away before you can start an argument. He knows you won’t argue in front of Sayuri, so that’s where he goes.
“I’ll argue about it later.” You tell Kento, and he chuckles.
“Is it okay? I’ll just make things awkward.” Kento says. He would love to join you and spend time with you, but he doesn’t want to ruin a family moment for Sayuri. He can sit it out.
“Kumi is coming, she’s already making things awkward. If he can bring someone that will ruin my trip, I can bring someone that can ruin his.” You share, and that’s perfect reasoning for Kento. Still, he isn’t quite sure what you’re doing so maybe he should ask before deciding to agree. It’s like you read his mind though, and you tell him, “We’re going to the beach. Suguru got a house for the weekend and we’re staying there.”
“That sounds… Fun.” Kento is surprised that Suguru is actually doing all of this– You’ve been complaining non-stop about him because he has been lacking as a father. In other words, choosing Kumi over Sayuri, simply because Kumi hates your guts and Sayuri never wants to leave your side. “How big is this house though?”
“Three bedrooms. I’ll get Sayuri to sleep with me– Which is going to happen either way, especially since we’re sleeping somewhere she doesn’t know.” You answer. You check on the food before the two of you walk to the living room to take a seat. A subtle smile comes over Kento’s lips when he notices Sayuri playing with the toy he bought.
“Mommy…” Sayuri drags out, and you hum in response. “I’m hungry.”
“Dinner is almost ready, baby. Just a couple more minutes.” You say, and she sighs. You glance at Suguru, watching how he’s focused on the TV, tense that he’s near Kento. He’s clearly annoyed which annoys you. You clear your throat before ordering, “Go set the table, Suguru.”
“I can do it.” Kento offers, but you glare at him which causes him to remain in his seat. Suguru sighs, standing up from the couch to do as you say. Suguru usually sets the table without being asked to, and without a problem, but it seems that when Kento is around, he has to have an attitude with everything.
“I wanna help!” Sayuri stands up with a bright smile on her face. She follows her daddy around, hoping that he’ll let her set the utensils down on the table. You both know that she’ll grow up and hate having to do it.
“What a dandy helper you have.” Kento comments, and you hum in response, a chuckle coming from your lips.
“But tell her to clean up her toys and she’ll throw a fit.” You say, and he laughs. You stand up when the table is set, and you begin to serve the food. Sayuri is sat first, eating away all the food that you gave her because she’s so hungry.
“Is it good, Sayuri?” Kento asks, watching her devour her food. It’s no surprise to him when she nods in response. Sayuri is a fairly picky eater, if she wasn’t enjoying her food, you would know. It doesn’t matter how hungry she is, if she doesn’t like something, she won’t eat it.
You all quietly begin to eat. The table is uncomfortable to say the least, the only person that could mend things in a way is Sayuri and since she’s eating, it feels awkward to speak up. It’s fair to say that Kento won’t bother asking you out tonight because it’s certainly not the right time.
“How was work today, Kento? Did your workload lighten up?” You ask, and Kento hums in response. After a very long and busy month, he finally feels like he can breathe with his job. He tells you a bit of what’s going on, and you listen attentively. Suguru plays with his food, bored out of his mind. You notice and you ask, “Did you not like the food or something?”
“It’s good. I’m just full.” Suguru puts his fork down, which causes Sayuri to do the same. You can’t have him in your home because Sayuri mimics just about everything her father does. You knew you made a mistake by inviting Kento to dinner.
You can’t help but sigh, but you’ve learned your lesson.
Tumblr media
You ask Kento to leave after dinner since you have to chat with Suguru about a couple of things. You order Suguru to put Sayuri to bed so you can talk. It’s a little earlier than usual, and Sayuri protests the sudden change, but she’s knocked out when Suguru finishes reading her bedtime story. And when he’s out, you’re on the couch, your eyes set on your phone as you scroll through social media. He clears his throat to catch your attention.
“So… What did you want to chat about?” Suguru asks which makes you put your phone down. You watch him as he walks to the couch and takes a seat next to you.
“What do you think I want to talk about?” You respond, and Suguru puffs out a breath. He doesn’t want to talk about your stupid friend, he doesn’t want to waste his energy on that. You move your legs, putting them on top of his thighs so he can’t move from his seat, and he rolls his eyes in response. “You have to be nicer to Kento.”
“Now, why would I do that?” Suguru’s annoyance is evident in his voice, which makes you click your tongue. It’s as if Suguru doesn’t want you to move on with someone better– Because that’s what Kento is, better than him. As a partner at the very least, Kento would be ideal.
“He’s my best friend... You at least can try to get along with him.” You say, which causes the man to furrow his brows. He really wishes you would realize just how smitten Kento is with you. He doesn’t treat you and Sayuri so well because he’s a great friend, it’s clear that Kento just wants to get into your pants. He knows that you’ve been together (from what you’ve told him), but Kento wants more.
Or maybe Suguru is just jealous because he’s scared that Sayuri will have another father figure that will be better than him. At least you didn’t mention wanting to date Kento, which brings some ease to Suguru’s poor mind.
“I guess… I’ll try to be nicer to him for you. Just don’t invite him to our little dinners, because I might as well invite Kumi as well.” Suguru responds, his hands resting on your legs. He throws his head back, a sigh escaping his lips.
“What’s wrong with you?” You ask, wondering why he sighs all of a sudden. Suguru looks tired, overworked. You know he’s taking more clients than usual, working on days that he usually takes off. You have an idea on why he’s saving up but you’re going to let him share it with you instead of straight up asking him.
“Nothing. I’m fine.” He responds. Suguru watches as you unlock your phone. You look for something, and when you find it, you practically shove the phone in his face.
“Look at this picture I took of Sayuri– She loves going into my closet and putting on my heels.” You share, and Suguru chuckles as he looks at his three-year-old daughter who tries on shoes that are far too big for her. You usually send pictures of her throughout the week but sometimes you’re too caught up in your own world that you forget about Suguru. It’s easy to forget about Suguru when he doesn’t make himself known.
“Send me that.” He tells you, and you hum in response.
You sit in silence for a couple of minutes. Usually you try to talk but Suguru is too tired to keep up with a conversation. You have a good relationship with each other when others aren’t involved so conversation flows easily; the only time conversation is forced, is when either of you is accompanied by someone else.
“I should get going.” Suguru says, lightly tapping your legs. You take your legs off him, and he stands up. He begins to walk to the door, and before leaving he tells you, “I’ll be here in the morning.”

“You had her approval as soon as you called her Mrs. Morales.”
Your head tilted in question, eyes panning to the ceiling in thought. “Isn’t that normal? Calling someone’s parent by their last name?”
A comfortable silence settled, just for a moment.
“You’d think so.” A smile curled Miles’ lips, the memory of when he’d introduced the first girl he’d ever liked to his parents flashing into his mind; his interest in tossing the ball paused momentarily as images from the past flooded his thoughts.
Wait… Why was he thinking about her?
. . .
“Miles?”
“Milesss?”
“Huh?” Miles blinked quickly as he brought himself back to the present, his slightly startled gaze landing on your puzzled expression.
“Earth to Morales?” Your tone leaked with a playfulness as you quirked a brow at him. “Did you hear a word I just said?”
“Nah, sorry,” Miles cleared his throat, then scratched his forehead with a laugh he hoped didn’t sound too awkward. “Just spaced out for a sec. What’d you say?”
“I saiddd,” Laying on your stomach as your thumbs twiddled along the screen of your phone, you sent a quick text before you continued. “—It’s getting kinda late, and if I’m not home in the next thirty minutes my Grandma will alert the entire police force over my absence.” you chuckled, the perpetual buzzes of replies sounding from your phone only furthering your point.
“Oh— Yeah, you’re right. My bad, I didn’t even realize.” Miles stood and grabbed his coat from the hook off his closet door before he turned towards you with a warm grin.
“C’mon, I’ll walk you home.”
Miles had been staring at his ceiling ever since he got back home, headphones blasting music over his ears to drown out the inevitable. For what seemed like hours, and for what probably was, he was trapped in an endless rumination he didn’t want to be a part of.
The grace his weekend temporarily granted him had unfortunately come to an end, and before he knew it, there was a knock on his bedroom door that reminded him of the upcoming drive him and his dad had to make back to Visions.
“Dude, this is so stupid. My head is about to explode from all this thinking.” Clad in a wifebeater and plaid boxers as he laid on the top bunk, Miles whined out what had only been his hundredth complaint in the span of fifteen minutes.
“And I can’t find my bonnet!”
Miles’ voice was muffled by the fluff of his pillow, the same pillow that was clutched tightly and caged between his arms as an effort to cling onto the last bit of his sanity. Also the same pillow that’d gone flat nearly two months ago. How convenient.
He thought talking Ganke’s ear off about all his feelings would help sort through his thoughts, but it did the exact opposite. Miles’ feelings for you were growing, that was an undeniable fact, so he still couldn’t figure out why after an entire year, Gwen was still on his mind. Why couldn’t he just forget about her?
“I really like this girl, man. Like, really, really like her. Like, Sunflower ain’t got shit on this girl, like her.” Miles blinked, astonished at his own words as he carried on, “Like, I offered to walk her home instead of having my mom drive her, like her—“
“Bro— Bro. I get it,” Ganke interrupted.
“I didn’t even know I could feel like this for someone else!” Pulling himself into a seated position, Miles let his legs dangle over the side of the bed. “I mean, I even let her meet my parents. You know how I am about that!” He exclaimed, arms outstretched as if they would help him present his case better. Ganke, in fact, did not know how he was about that.
“That obviously means I’m over Gwen! Right?”
No answer.
“Right?”
“I dunno, dude! Now you see why I don’t even bother dealing with that kind’a junk. It’s confusing as hell. “ Ganke’s eyes darted from side to side as they tracked the video game on his PC’s monitor, tongue poking at his lip in intense concentration. His half-baked advice to Miles was as much as he could muster without losing focus on his Call of Duty mission. “That’s love for you, man.”
Miles’ eyes went wide and his heart began to race. “Woah woah woah— I ain’t say anything about love!” Technically, he did, just in different words.
With a weighted sigh the controller plunked out of Ganke’s hands and down onto the desk, ‘MISSION FAILED’ flashing in bold onto the screen.
“Alright, look,” Ganke spun around in his chair and glanced up at the top bunk. “If you like this girl as much as you say you do, why don’t you just go for it? What’s stopping you? A girl who’s not even here anymore?” he scoffed. “Quit dwelling on the past and look at what’s right in front of you. You know, someone who’s actually in this universe.”
Miles sat with pursed lips as he stared down at his open palms, treading in the water of his thoughts.
“You know what,” Head raising, he looked to his roommate with a newfound determination. “You’re right, Ganke. Starting tonight, I’m done thinking about the past.” Miles nodded.
“Great, now either let me get back to my mission in peace, or grab a damn controller and help me.”
Ganke was right. Gwen’s gone, and she wasn’t coming back. It’s not even possible.
Miles let the conclusion settle within him as he dug around in the junk drawer for the spare controller.
It’s time for him to move on.
As you relaxed on your back in the room you’d been in more times than you could even remember at this point, head idly bopping to an album by Tears for Fears, you thought back to the time before you knew Miles. And even though you hadn’t known him for nearly as long as you’d known yourself— maybe just caught up in the whirlwind of something new and exciting, or him in general— you couldn’t help but feel as if his presence had been missing from your life this entire time.
Spending the day with him had become as normal as breathing to you. His space had become your space (his words), and it rang true as you hummed along to the tune echoing from the record player on his desk.
“Help me to decide. Help me make the most of freedom, and of pleasure. Nothing ever lasts forever…”
The song ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ wrapped you snug in a warm sense of nostalgia, it having been one of your favorites since middle school. And paired with being around your favorite person— you were sure you never wanted to leave this moment. You smiled to yourself at the upside down image you had of Miles as you let your head hang over the side of his bed, the beads on the ends of your braids clinking against his wooden floors when your head tilted with a new found query.
“Miles,”
He hummed, but it wasn’t the kind that sounded as if you’d interrupted him, or as if he were annoyed. It was the kind that let you know he was interested in whatever you wanted to tell him, and that you had his attention even if his eyes weren’t on you.
“Okay, bear with me here. And answer carefully, because this kind of decides the type of person you are and whether I’ll even speak to you afterwards.”
“Wait, what is it?” He quickly looked up at you—upside down you, at least— with concerned eyes and you struggled to hide your grin.
“What color do you think science is?”
“Are you serious?” He deadpanned.
Your brow raise was his answer.
“Green, obviously.”
“Interesting choice. Why green?”
Miles shrugged, “Cause of the environment. Plants are green. And when I think of plants, I think of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis, equals science. Therefore,” pen in hand, he made a ‘viola’ gesture. “Green.”
“Mm,” You scrunched your nose, eyes panning back to the ceiling. “I guess I can see that.”
“And math is blue.” He tacked on.
“Blue!?” You balked, flipping over onto your stomach so his face was right side-up now. “Math? Blue? Are you deadass?”
“As dead as ass can be.” Miles quipped with a snort and continued to scribble away at the page he’d been sketching on for the last half hour.
“History is blue, not math!” You scoffed.
“Alright Y/n, what other color would math be then?” He asked incredulously.
“Red, duh.”
“Red?” He repeated breathlessly. “Why would math be red?”
“Well,” you started, “Math makes me angry. And when I think about anger, I think about the color red, just like everybody else does. And I hate red, just like I hate math. Numbers and letters do not belong together, just like pineapple on pizza. Therefore,” you mimicked his previous gesture to the air with a confident grin. “Red.”
“Pineapple— Numbers… What?” Miles blinked at you with both disbelief and confusion, the corners of his mouth threatening to expose his amusement as they lifted. “That’s it? That’s your grand explanation?”
“Mm-hm.” You hummed proudly, chin perched in both your hands.
Miles shook his head as his smile finally made itself known, dimples and all the moment your lashes batted at him.
“Not gon’ lie to you, that sounded like a whole bunch’a bullshit.” He laughed at your fake offended expression.
One of Miles’ favorite things about you was how you always seemed to ramble about everything, and nothing at the same time. He thought it was adorable.
“Well, the math part I understand, I guess.” he shrugged. “But you can’t possibly hate the color red all that much.”
Your brows furrowed at him, “What makes you say that?”
“Cause,” Miles turned his sketchbook towards you, the drawing he’d been working on this entire time revealed to be a moment he’d caught of you, gazing up at his ceiling just the way you were a moment ago. “Look.”
You nearly felt your heart stop as you took in what was in front of you. All this time while you were in your own world, singing along to whatever song came and went, he’d been focused solely on you. You dragged your eyes up from the paper so they’d meet his, your calves swiftly tucking under your thighs when you rushed to sit up in a straighter position.
“I—Is that me?” You blabbed out before you could think.
“Nah, it’s Boo-Boo the fool.” Miles huffed out a laugh. “Yes, it’s you dummy.”
Gentle strokes of red to the thin paper framed your face and lips, the attention to detail he used brought your eyes to life on the page, and he’d even managed to capture the beads on the bottom of your braids, too.
“How the hell did you do that?”
He shrugged shyly and turned his artwork to face him once more, studying the page as if he hadn’t been doing just that all this time. His heart was beginning to race faster than he’d originally predicted, and he wondered if he should’ve shown you.
“It’s kind of muscle memory at this point.”
Miles heard the words that came out of his own mouth, and you did too, but it was like the both of you comprehended exactly what he’d said at the same time.
“Don’t—“ He tried, but it was too late, you were already gushing, and he was already blushing.
“Awwwww!”
“Please—“
“Milessss!” you teased, ignoring his plea.
“Stop it.” Flustered, he shielded a smile behind his hand and tried to look anywhere else but your face.
“You’re so cute when you blush.”
Things were beyond easy with Miles.
The two of you never ran out of things to talk about and he always matched your energy, as if he were the other half of you.
There were no awkward moments, or pressure towards the other about making a move, because deep down you both knew what this was, and that everything would fall into place with time.
It was apparent in the way he looked at you, in how perfectly you fit in his arms when he hugged you goodbye, and how you always relaxed in his embrace when he would hold onto you just a bit longer.
Your first date went perfectly. Well, not really, but that’s what made it even better.
An ominous ‘be ready in 20 mins’ text to your phone and about a half hour later, Miles popped up at your door, pink tulips in hand and a smile big enough to match his signature jacket.
The two of you decided to catch a movie after a short train ride to the theater, and he let you pick. Horror being one of your favorite genres, that’s what you went with, and like everything else that came with you, Miles agreed.
But just thirteen minutes in at one of the simplest jumpscares (if you could even call it one), Miles let out a scream belonging on one of the highest vocal registers your ears had ever heard, and it sent you into such an uncontrollable fit of laughter that you ended up accidentally spilling your fresh popcorn all over the floor.
Miles’ ego wasn’t nearly big enough for him to remain embarrassed once the tears started rolling from your eyes, and eventually, the laughter he tried to stifle made itself known to everyone sitting around you. And when you say everyone, you mean everyone.
It only took two minutes of you guys cackling and snorting before the both of you were asked to leave, and you had no idea how you made it out of the theater with how hard your stomachs were cramping.
Sure, the movie hadn’t gone quite as planned, but you didn’t mind and neither did he. As long as you both were in each other’s company, you wouldn’t mind watching paint dry.
The blue hue of the night had long enveloped the city, and as you and Miles sat up on the roof of his apartment, the dimmed fairy lights twinkling in the darkness from where they were strung across the perimeter, you made a mental note to study up on the movie you told your Grandma you were staying out late to see.
You leaned into Miles and rested your head on his shoulder, knees pulling to your chest as you exhaled softly.
“You cold?”
Far from it, actually.
A perpetual breeze prompted your bodies to curl into each other more, though goosebumps and chattering teeth were nowhere in sight, only fingers secretly inching closer and hearts growing fonder.
“I should be asking you, I’m wearing your jacket.” you joked.
“Nah,” he chuckled. “I’m alright.”
The silence was comfortable. You didn’t want to go home just yet and Miles wasn’t ready to say goodbye for the night, so you stayed.
This had become a new norm for the two of you, so much so that this was pretty much how all your hangouts ended. You’d stay just a little longer, and then he’d take you home. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but for some weird reason you always felt much safer when you were with Miles, like he’d be able to protect you if anything were to happen when the two of you were together.
“Y/n?”
“Hm?”
“Have you ever been in love before?”
Miles’ voice was quiet, nearly drowned out from the lively sounds of the city around you. You were surprised you even heard it.
You swallowed, and it took so much effort to form your lips around the simple word you answered with. “W-what?”
He cleared his throat as his posture straightened slightly. “Like, do you know what love is? Is what I mean...” He clarified quickly, mentally cursing himself for how badly he worded things, even if it’s what he meant. He didn’t even know if you felt the same.
You lifted your head from his shoulder, prompting his own to turn towards you, but you didn’t meet his eyes. You settled for toying with the sleeve of his jacket as your heart began to thrum a little faster.
Nibbling at the inside of your lip, you inhaled quietly before answering. “When they’re the first person your mind thinks of when you hear the word ‘love’. Or maybe when the thought of them gets you out of bed in the morning instead of your alarm clock. You know when you know, basically. That’s what I was taught, and I think it checks out.” you glanced over at him, and he felt like time stopped when your eyes locked.
“Do you?” you asked.
“H-Huh?” Miles was enthralled with how pretty you looked, and how your features were perfectly illuminated by the gentle glow of the city lights, so much so that he could hardly think straight.
Rolling your eyes and suppressing a giggle, you shook your head at him. “—Do you know what love is, dummy.”
“Not exactly— uh, I don’t think so, no.” Miles’ jaw tensed and his gaze met yours once more. The twinkle in your eyes temporarily dimming due to the fear of this all being in your head.
“Oh.” you murmured.
“But I think I know what it feels like.” He said softly.
Really?”
Lips parting slightly for a shaky breath to pass, Miles nodded. “Positive.”
Your eyes fell down to his lips almost immediately, then lifted back up to see that his had done the same to yours.
“Well… What does it feel like?”
The question left your mouth long before you could’ve thought to stop it, yet regret was the last thing you felt. What you were feeling was something entirely different.
Your faces grew closer until your noses brushed against each others, a second spared as a chance for either of you to bail on what you both knew was bound to happen in a matter of time.
He leaned in and you let him— let your arms curl around his neck and his around your waist so your lips could meet faster. Let your lips move against each other’s because it felt right, because that’s what you knew love to be. Letting something happen because it felt right.
He felt right.
Miles pulled away, but barely, his breath warm against your lips. “Come to my parent’s party tomorrow?” He blurted.
Hands holding the back of his neck, you blinked yourself out of your daze, brows furrowed. “What?”
“My dad, they’re making him police captain. We’re celebrating tomorrow, here, and I want you to come.” Miles licked his lips. “Well I— I was gonna invite you anyway. But now I really want you to come. And I wanted you to come before this happened, obviously—“
“I’d love to.” You smiled, and let him pull you back into him the second you’d given your answer.
Miles remembered what it was like to be so head over heels in love with someone that it consumed him entirely. How it corrupted his days and fogged his mind with nothing but the thought of them, and he could feel himself slipping back into it again, but this time, with you. And if he were being honest, it kind of scared him, how quickly you’d claimed his heart.
But what he did know was that you liked him, and he liked you. He’ll admit, he didn’t expect his feelings for you to develop as fast as they did, for them to hit him as hard as they had. But he was past that now. Tomorrow was going to be special, and not just for his family, but for the two of you. He was finally going to take the leap he’d been too scared to make before tonight.
You were the perfect girl, that he was sure of. And who’d be dumb enough to not accept perfect when it was right in front of them?
He wanted this. He wanted you.
But any chance for another sensical thought was interrupted when the impossible happened.
‘Impossible’, being the multi-layered hexagonal portal that suddenly opened up on his ceiling, and the blonde-haired, gap-toothed girl he thought he’d never see again, appearing with it.
Bright and beaming down at him with a heart-halting grin, Miles felt his stomach drop as soon as she spoke.
“Miles!”
Shit.

Well, that was rather embarrassing predicament, to say the least. Gale of Waterdeep, esteemed wizard, lurking in the shadows like a common maniac. Observing a woman of his dreams from afar. A woman who had once held his heart in the palm of her hand, only to cast it aside for another. Positively pathetic, isn’t it?
He knew he shouldn’t, but he couldn’t stop himself from watching her with a mixture of fascination and trepidation, like an astronomer gazing upon a distant star, simultaneously drawn to its brilliance and wary of its celestial power. There was something about Tav, something ineffable, yet undeniably captivating, that compelled him to observe her, whenever he had a chance. Mind you, Gale's captivation resided not in the moments of intimacy, but rather in the quiet nuances of Tav's daily life. He found himself drawn to her ordinary rituals, avoiding the intrusion upon her private moments as a matter of principle— he adored watching her writing letters in the soft glow of the evening, tending to her garden with such grace, the quiet reverence with which she communed with nature's wonders. Each gesture, each fleeting expression painted a portrait of a woman both ordinary and extraordinary, and Gale found himself inexplicably drawn to her.
And yet, amidst the tapestry of her daily life, there was one thread that left a bitter taste upon his tongue— Halsin. Oh, how he despised the very mention of the name, the mere thought of the druid being so close to Tav and being her lover (whatever that meant in Halsin’s world), stirred a pang of ugly jealousy within his breast. For what claim did Halsin have upon Tav's affections, he wondered relentlessly, when it was he who loved her from the very beginning. It was he who worshipped the ground she was walking on. And finally, it was he who forgot his goddess because of her.
Still, Tav didn’t choose Gale.
Well, maybe that statement wasn’t entirely correct. In truth, Tav did chose Gale at the beginning of their journey. They would spend countless hours in his tent, engrossed in conversation and lost in the pages of books. Their laughter echoed through the camp. He took great care to ensure that Tav received the choicest bits during their shared meals and in moments of distress, Tav sought solace in his reassuring presence, finding comfort in the warmth of his hand clasped firmly in hers. Though Gale never said it out loud, he felt a swell of pride knowing he was the one she turned to in her hour of need.
Oh, how he admired her unwavering sense of justice and compassion. She was committed to doing what was right, even when faced with the most daunting challenges. In a world this wicked and dark, she was a beacon of light. She gave him hope when all seemed lost, and in turn he offered her his heart, but Tav wanted more, it would seem.
He saw her talking with Halsin more and more as they were roaming through The Shadow-Cursed Lands. It seemed as though every passing moment brought them closer together. Tav's radiant smile and melodious laughter filled the air as she was talking with the druid. And the way he looked at her, made something inside Gale stir. Halsin gaze lingered on Tav, his eyes alight with admiration, mirroring Gale’s own. It was pretty obvious, yet, when Tav asked him, how he would feel as to having another person in their relationship he was taken aback. His first thought was the baby.
“What, like a child? I’m not sure I’d consider myself a father material, plus our current lifestyle isn’t exactly what I would called settled…”
“It’s Halsin. He wants to be with me, but he doesn’t ask that I sacrifice you. We would…share.” Tav's words hung in the air, heavy with implication
Share?
Gale's mind reeled at the notion. “Share? You’re not a loaf of bread to be divided up at a supper time! I thought what we had meant something for you.”
But apparently he was wrong. Perhaps it hadn’t mean as much to Tav, as it meant to him and the realisation of that made him a truly miserable man. He was also angry, so angry beneath the surface. It was hard to stay at the camp after all this, it was hard to watch them talking, breathing, just being. Yet despite his best efforts, he couldn’t bring himself to hate Tav. And for that he was even more enraged. How could he be so weak?
As the time passed and Baldur’s Gate was finally safe, the companions went their separate ways. At first, Gale welcomed the prospect of solitude, believing that distancing himself from Tav would bring him peace. He came back to Waterdeep  and sought solace in his study, surrounded by his precious books and arcane tomes. He threw himself into his studies with renewed fervour, delving into the depths of ancient texts and lost knowledge in an attempt to distract himself from the pain gnawing at his heart, but it wouldn’t go away.
One evening, after one too many glasses of wine, Gale found himself consumed by a reckless impulse. It was a night much like any other, yet something within him stirred, a restless energy that demanded release. Casting an invisibility spell upon himself, he ventured out into the night. Before he even knew what he was doing, he found himself teleporting to the familiar streets of Baldur's Gate. Near where he knew Tav lived, to be precise. He told himself he was merely checking on her, ensuring her safety in a world fraught with danger. But deep down, he knew the truth.
As he watched her from the shadows, unseen and unnoticed, he found himself entranced by her mere presence. She was brushing her hair, her movements fluid and graceful, her face bathed in the soft glow of candlelight. In that moment, she looked so utterly beautiful, that Gale had to fight back the tears that threatened to spill from his eyes.
It began as a one-time occurrence, a fleeting moment of weakness, he told himself. Yet, with each passing day, Gale found himself seeking out more excuses to linger in Tav's vicinity, even if she remained unaware of his silent vigil. And so, he became a ghostly spectator, haunting the edges of her life, longing for a connection he knew he could never truly have.
Because, how could he? How could he love her one moment only to watch her slip away into the arms of another the next? He couldn’t live like this, even if it’s Tav. So he just watched her, not ready to let go.
☾☾☾
This particular night, Tav was alone. Halsin was away, tending to orphans he took under his wings after all that happened in Baldur’s Gate. Truth be told, Halsin's frequent absences were a relief to Gale as it was still hard for him to witness the bond he had with Tav. There was an intimacy between them that Gale found himself unable to stomach.
Gale found Tav in her bedroom, nestled on the bed, a book cradled in her hands like a precious treasure. The soft glow of candlelight bathed her in a warm embrace, casting delicate shadows across her features. She looked so peaceful, so utterly content in that moment, and Gale couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy at the sight. In another life, they would read their books side by side every night, their fingers tracing the words upon the pages.
Gale, didn’t know exactly why, but instead of his usual routine of observing Tav from the safety of the window, like a little puppy desperately waiting for their owner to let them in, he now found himself seated in his favourite chair on the other side of Tav's bed, invisible. It was an audacious move, even for him. Maybe, he was feeling particularly lonely that starry, romantic night? Or maybe there was something in the summer air… no matter what, the pull of her presence was too strong to resist at that moment.
So Gale was sitting there, watching Tav and enjoying the warm breeze. Lost in his thoughts, he shifted slightly in his seat, his foot inadvertently knocking into one of the candles seated on the floor. His heart lurched as he watched in horror as the candle toppled over, its flame igniting the delicate fabric of Tav's blanket. Panic surged through him as he realised what he had done, his mind racing with frantic thoughts, his hands on his head in pure disbelief.
"Oh, no!" he exclaimed, the words escaping his lips before he could stop them.
“Gale?” Tav’s voice, full of confusion, pierced through the silence, sending a jolt of adrenaline coursing through Gale's veins.
With a quick flick of his wrist, Gale summoned a rush of water, his practiced fingers weaving a complex pattern in the air as he cast a rapid incantation. The water swirled and danced in the air, cascading gracefully onto the flames and extinguishing them in a matter of seconds. As the last flicker of flame died out, Gale hesitated for a moment before releasing the invisibility spell that had cloaked him from view. With a soft shimmering light, he materialised into view, his expression a mixture of sheepishness and devastation of a defeated man.
"Hello, Tav," he said, his voice tinged with embarrassment as he met her gaze. "It seems I've made a bit of a mess, haven't I?” Gale asked as the smoke began to dissipate around him.
Now, he was waiting for Tav to be (rightfully) furious at him, but she wasn’t. Instead, she seemed to be…concerned?
“Are you all right?” Her voice was laced with genuine worry, her eyes searching his face for any signs of distress. It was a simple question, but it carried a weight that caught Gale off guard.
For a moment, Gale found himself speechless. He had anticipated anger or confusion, not this. His heart felt heavy.
"I'm...I'm fine," he stammered, his voice betraying a hint of disbelief as he struggled to compose himself.
“Good,” Tav said, stepping closer to Gale and enveloping him in a warm embrace. He froze momentarily at the unexpected touch, his heart racing in his chest. “I don’t understand how you got here,” Tav murmured softly, her voice barely above a whisper as she buried her face in Gale's chest, “and I’m not even sure if I want to know,” she added. "But I’m glad you are here," she continued, her voice trembling with emotion. "I’ve missed you... more than I can put into words." Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over and cascading down her cheeks as she clung to him, seeking solace in his embrace. Gale felt his body stiff at first at the sudden gesture, but despite it all he held her close, offering silent reassurance as they stood together in the quiet intimacy of the moment.
"Shh," he whispered softly, his touch tender as he traced soothing circles along her back. With every motion, he felt the weight of her sorrow, the depth of her longing, and his own heartache mirrored in her tears. He fought to hold back his own emotions, to be the pillar of strength she needed in that moment. To be a true man. But beneath the facade of composure, Gale's own tears threatened to spill over. “I’ve missed you too, Tav.” And his words were honest.
"After we destroyed the brain, you left so abruptly," Tav's voice trembled with emotion, her words carrying the weight of unspoken pain."I thought... I thought maybe you didn't want to see me ever again, that you detested me. And I understand if you do. I know you might think that all we had, was just a facade, a lie, but it wasn't.”
Gale listened in silence, and his heart throbbed with pain. He hated to watch her cry. ”I’m sorry," he whispered, his voice barely audible above the hushed cadence of the night. "I never meant to hurt you.”
"I should be the one apologising," she murmured, her voice laced with regret. "I felt so guilty for leaving you like that, Gale. There were nights when I cried myself to sleep, feeling your absence like a gaping wound. And in those moments, Halsin... he was there for me. But it wasn't the same. It could never be the same.”
Gale's chest tightened at her confession, the weight of her words pressing down on him like a burden too heavy to bear. "Tav..." he began, his voice choked with emotion and…hope? But before he could utter another word, she silenced him with a gentle touch of her hand. She looked deep into his eyes, looking for something in them.
"Gale," she whispered, her voice soft yet resolute. "I want you to know... I love you. I've always loved you." Her words hung in the air, heavy with sincerity and emotion. "But I also love Halsin. In a different way, perhaps, but love nonetheless.”
Gale felt his heart sink at her admission, a pang of sorrow lancing through him like a blade. Despite the warmth of her touch, he couldn't shake the chill that settled in the depths of his very soul. "Tav," he began, his voice barely above a whisper, "you know I'm not... I can't be... I want you all to myself. It hasn't changed since the last time we spoke about this.” And despite himself he added— “I think I should leave now.”
With a heavy sigh, he made a move to leave, to escape the turmoil of his emotions, but before he could take more than a few steps, Tav's hand shot out, grabbing his own with a desperate urgency.
"Don't leave," she pleaded, her voice tinged with desperation. "Not tonight. Let's forget about Halsin, about everything. Just... let's be together tonight, you and I. Please?” Her eyes searched his, pleading for understanding, for connection, for something to hold onto in the midst of their tangled emotions.
And then she came closer, dangerously close. As her lips met his in a tender yet impassioned kiss, Gale felt his resolve waver, crumbling like sand between his fingers. The warmth of her touch, the sweetness of her embrace, it all washed over him like a wave, sweeping him away in a sea of longing and desire.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still as they lost themselves in each other, their bodies pressed together in a fervent embrace. Gale's heart pounded in his chest, the rhythm of their kiss echoing the tumultuous beat of his emotions. And in that fleeting moment, as their lips parted and their eyes locked in silent understanding, Gale surrendered to the intoxicating pull of their shared desire. With a surge of strength, Gale lifted Tav effortlessly into his arms, her legs instinctively wrapping around his hips as he carried her towards the bed. Each step felt like a revelation.
As he gently laid her down upon the soft sheets, their eyes met once more, the intensity of their gaze speaking volumes. With trembling hands, Gale traced the contours of her face, memorising every curve and line as if committing them to memory.
Tav appeared as a vision of ethereal beauty, her form draped in the delicate embrace of silk nightwear that accentuated every curve and contour of her body. Gone were the rugged trappings of their journey through the wilderness, replaced instead by the subtle elegance of her attire. Gale found himself captivated, his gaze lingering on the gentle curve of her neck, the graceful slope of her shoulders, and the subtle rise and fall of her chest with each breath. There was a vulnerability in her appearance that stirred something deep within him, a longing to protect and cherish her with every fiber of his being.
“Oh, Tav,” Gale said as he enveloped her body in his arms, burying his face in the soft curve of her neck, inhaling deeply the sweet, intoxicating scent that enveloped her. The warmth of her body pressed against his own ignited a fire within him, a primal urge that had been dormant for far too long. As their bodies pressed together, a wave of arousal washed over him, leaving him painfully hard and achingly aware of every brush of skin. Tav's hand found its way between their bodies, her touch sending shivers of pleasure racing up his spine as she palmed his growing erection.
A low, guttural moan escaped his lips as pleasure rippled through him, his senses overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment. It was as if he had been starved for this connection, this physical closeness, and now that he had it, he was powerless to resist its allure. As Tav shifted her position being on top of him, like his queen, straddling Gale's hips, she moved with a fluid grace that left him mesmerised. With deft fingers, she began to unbutton his shirt, revealing the toned muscles beneath, her touch sending a shiver of anticipation through his willing body.
In response, Gale reached up to grasp the hem of Tav's nightdress, pulling it over her head with a reverence that bordered on worship. As the fabric fell away, she was bathed in the soft glow of candlelight, her skin aglow with a warmth that seemed to emanate from within.
Gale's breath caught in his throat as he took in the sight before him. Tav was utterly beautiful, her rounded breasts heaving with each breath, her thighs pressing against his hips as she straddled him. In that moment he knew, she held him in the palm of her hand, a goddess of desire and passion, and he was powerless to resist as he was just a mere human.
As she unbuttoned his pants and her fingers wrapped around his throbbing penis, Gale felt himself losing control. Every touch sent shivers down his spine, his desire mounting with each caress. Despite his trembling voice, he managed to murmur, "You don't have to do this."
"But I want to," she responded, her breath warm against his skin as she pressed a tender kiss to the glans of his penis. Gale took a deep breath through his clenched teeth. His arousal was palpable, his desire for her nearly overwhelming as she took him into her mouth with a delicate grace that left him shaking with need. Each sensation was magnified tenfold, every touch sending waves of pleasure crashing over him in an ecstatic frenzy. As her lips closed around him, he could feel the warmth of her mouth enveloping him, her tongue dancing along his length with a skill that bordered on sinful.
Gale could hardly contain the primal urge building within him, the intensity of his desire threatening to consume him whole. With each gentle caress and tantalising stroke, he felt himself teetering on the edge of ecstasy, his body aching for release. His hips moving shyly, only to be held down by Tav hands.
“ Tav, Tav I’m close,” he said, but she didn’t stop instead she was sucking him even harder. And when Gale finally came, it was like an explosion of pleasure unlike anything he had ever experienced before. With a cry of ecstasy, he surrendered to the overwhelming sensation, his body convulsing with the force of his release as he spilled himself into Tav's waiting mouth, his senses ablaze with a euphoria that left him gasping for breath. The world went quiet for a second, but not long after he felt Tav body on his. Her soft curves pressed against his chest. Her lips, swollen from their passionate encounter, hovered just inches from his own, and he couldn't resist the urge to draw her closer, his fingers tangling in the silky strands of her hair. Gale smiled.
With a gentle touch, he brushed a stray lock away from her forehead. When he saw a droplet of his sperm lingering in the corner of her mouth, he couldn't help but be overcome by a sudden surge of desire. Without hesitation, he leaned forward, capturing the droplet with his thumb and bringing it to his lips, savouring the taste of their shared passion as he licked it away. And as their lips met in a searing kiss, Gale felt himself consumed by a hunger unlike anything he had ever known, his hands roaming freely over her back as they lost themselves in the heat of the moment.
Their night was far from the end.
Their kisses grew more urgent, more desperate, as their bodies pressed together in a tangle of limbs and desire. With every touch, every caress, Gale felt a surge of longing course through him, igniting a fire that burned hotter with each passing moment. As his hand trailed down her spine, exploring every curve and contour of her body, Tav's breath hitched in her throat, a soft moan escaping her lips as she melted into his touch. And when his fingers finally found their way to the wetness between her legs, she couldn't help but arch her back in response, a shudder of pleasure coursing through her.
With a hunger that bordered on desperation, Gale shifted his position, kneeling between her legs as he drank in the sight of her. His heart raced in his chest as he watched her, every movement, every quiver of her body, sending waves of desire crashing over him.
"I need you, inside," Tav whispered, reading his thoughts exactly. Her voice barely more than a breathless plea. Her eyes bore into his, dark with desire, and Gale knew he couldn't deny her. With a tenderness Gale lowered himself down onto her, positioning his penis to her sweet entrance.
He had imagined it countless times during the lonely hours in his study, weaving fantasies in the quiet solitude of his mind. But now, as the reality of their passion unfolded before him, it surpassed even his most vivid dreams. In her embrace, Gale felt a sense of wholeness he had longed for, a completeness that eluded him in his solitary existence. Closing his eyes for a fleeting moment, Gale focused on the sensation of her body beneath his, the warmth of her skin against his own. And when Tav's hips began to move in a gentle rhythm, he followed suit, his movements initially tentative but growing bolder with each passing moment, encouraged by her soft moans.
Quickly Gale found himself lost in the heady haze of desire, his senses overwhelmed by the sight and sound of Tav squirming beneath him, her moans of pleasure driving him to new heights of ecstasy. With each thrust, each movement of their bodies, he felt a primal urge building within him, driving him ever closer to the brink of release. He groaned each time he was all in, deep inside her sweet wetness, his gaze locked onto hers with a ferocity he didn't know he possessed.
As he drew near, his thrusts grew increasingly erratic, his control slipping with each passing moment. Despite his desperate attempts to hold back, he found himself on the precipice of release, his body trembling with anticipation. "Come for me, my love," he whispered, his voice husky with desire, his fingers tenderly caressing her cheek. And as Tav's back arched in ecstasy, her breath hitching, and walls tightening Gale felt his own climax approaching like a tidal wave, ready to engulf him in its powerful embrace. With a low, guttural grunt, he buried himself deep inside her, his hands gripping hers tightly as he surrendered to the overwhelming waves of pleasure crashing over him. With a primal cry, they reached the pinnacle of their desire, their bodies convulsing in unison as waves of bliss washed over them.
In that moment of pure connection, Gale surrendered to the overwhelming sensations coursing through him, his release flooding Tav's depths with a torrent of his essence. Deep inside her, he poured himself into her with abandon, his ropes of cum filling her wholly as they became one. As the last echoes of their shared climax faded into the hushed stillness of the room, Gale held Tav tightly in his embrace, their bodies entwined in the aftermath of their lovemaking. They lay there, panting and spent, their hearts racing.
Desperately, Gale clung to the fleeting moment, reluctant to pull away from the intimate connection they shared. He wanted to linger inside her, to savor the warmth of her embrace for just a little while longer, before the outside world intruded once more.
Gale's touch was tender, his hand tracing soothing patterns along Tav's back, lulling her into a peaceful slumber. With her hand resting gently on his chest, she seemed so close, yet so far away. And for a fleeting moment, everything felt perfect, as if they had found each other's again. But as Gale's fingers sense the tiny wooden duck hidden beneath the pillow, reality came crashing back with brutal clarity. It was a stark reminder of the presence they could not escape, a symbol of the inevitable truth that awaited them at dawn. His heart felt empty. What they had shared this night was nothing more than a fleeting illusion, a desperate grasp at something unattainable.
“I love you,” he said softly, though he knew he shouldn’t.
With one last lingering gaze at Tav's sleeping form, he turned away, a heavy weight lifting from his shoulders as he made his way out of her bedroom, finally letting her go for good.

Corrival
Tumblr media
Pairing: Chris Sturniolo X Female Reader
Synopsis: Y/N is sent on a blind date by her friend, but what happens when she recognizes the guy….will she pursue him, or will she let the memories of her past control her decision🗣️
Warnings⚠️: This is so long I FORGOT WHATS IN IT, but there SMUT🤭
Song for the imagine: I hate everything about you- Three Days Grace
⚠️This is an 18+ imagine, so minors do not interact, or do??⚠️
“Chloe…IM NOT GOING ON A BLIND DATE” I spoke loudly into the phone
“Stop being annoying, and literally go out! Like give him a chance he’s a great guy” she said on the other line
“You don’t understand my taste….you pick the worst guys for me” I told her putting my laundry away
“I promise you! You’ll be thanking me after this date”she said
“What makes you think this?” I asked her
“Because I know the guy, and he’s really nice. I immediately thought he would be perfect for you” she said
“Fine whatever. What day, what time and what’s the place” I asked her rolling my eyes
“Yayyy! Okay so it’s Thursdays night, over at the restaurant in downtown I can’t remember the name, and at 7pm” she said
“You’re sending me to downtown Boston…ALONE” I asked her
“Would you relax, it's a Thursday at 7pm, and you’ll have the guy to protect you. Also the restaurants called Foxtrot” she said
“Fine, and if this date suck you owe me so much money” I told her before hanging up on her
It was now Thursday, and I was getting ready to meet this mystery man at Foxtrot. The restaurant seemed nice but not anything fancy, probably similar to a chain restaurant . I decided on wearing black wide leg cargo pants with a fitted cropped black shirt that said screw you on the back in red with red screws on the front, and my red and white air Jordan 11 retros. It was simple but it was hot. I flat ironed my hair and did my makeup. I took some pics for instagram, and posted them, and I posted one to my close friends on instagram
“Going on a blind date wish me luck, thanks @chloethedawn 🙃”
I had ubered to the restaurant, and got out Chloe had texted me before I got there, that the mystery man was sitting in the last booth all the way in the back on the right hand side. I went in and told the hostess I was meeting someone, and she allowed me back
I walked towards the back, and all I saw was someone with a hat with their head down, and when he lifted his head, my mouth dropped….. I’m going to kill Chloe.
Flashback
I had just moved to Boston sophomore year of high school, and didn’t have any friends. That was until I met Chloe and Nick who then introduced me to Alana, and then they introduced me to Nicks brothers Chris and Matt.
I became really close with Chloe and then Nick, but Chloe was my best friend. I even considered her a sister. She was always with Nick, so it would always be Chloe, Nick, Alana and I hanging over at nicks house
Slowly I started talking to Matt, and him and I became friends, and I tried to talk to Chris, but he was such a fucking dick all the time.
He was rude to me at school and outside of school. What sucked was that I really started to have a crush on him, and I tried to be as nice as I could. I think he realized I had a crush on him, so he started to be extra mean to me.
Chloe knew how much I hated yet loved him at the same time. She didn’t understand how I could like someone I hated, but I told her my brains fucked up
As we moved into junior year of high school my feelings for Chris never ever went away. In fact they got stronger day by day. I was still hanging out with all them, so it didn’t help that I saw his face every single day
We all had the same lunch, so we all sat together everyday as well. Everything was decent until one day we were chatting at lunch
“How much money to date y/n” Alana asked everybody
“Alana what the fuck” I said laughing at her
“To date four eyes? I’d rather kill myself” Chris said laughing
I think that was the day I truly started to hate myself, and how I looked because the comment Chris made meant he truly took in my appearance before saying anything.
That day was the reason I started to stop hanging out with them. I hung out with Chloe always, but rarely ever with Nick or Alana.
Towards the end of junior year I made a few new friends, and sat with them at lunch. Chloe understood, but she still felt bad that I let Chris words get to me
When senior year rolled around the triplets started to get a following on YouTube, and everyone at the school wanted to be their friend. I still talked to Nick and Matt, but I mainly stood friends with Chloe and Alana.
Senior year I started wearing my hair down, and I got contact lenses. Some boy started to notice me, but Chris was still a dick. He sat behind me in 7th period, and always called me four eyes, or made fun of me to his lacrosse friends who were near us. He would put stuff in my hair, click my hair and poke me. But I just ignored him no matter how much he pissed me off.
After senior year I went to community college, and only kept in contact with Chloe. The triplets started to get even more famous, and we just all grew apart. I went two years of no Chris, and slowly my feelings faded away.
Flashback over
Why in the fuck Chloe sent me on a date with this asshole was beyond me. It had been a little over two years at this point, of knowing nothing about Chris and his brothers.
Seeing him sitting there made me so angry, but nonetheless I walked over, and sat down across from him
“Hi” I said looking at him
“Hey” he said looking up and putting his phone down
He stuck his hand out for me to shake which I did
“Why do you look so familiar” he said after I shook his hand
“You don’t remember me Christopher?” I asked him
“Are you Chloe’s friend?” He asked me
“Yeah, and Alana’s….and I was Nicks….and Matt’s” I said waiting for the light bulb moment to happen
“I don’t recall” he said scratching his neck
“7th period history….senior year” I said looking at him
“Holy shit….youre four eyes” he said all giddy
“Im so glad to see that things never fucking change” I said rolling my eyes
“Sorry. Sorry I meant Y/N” he said shaking his head
“Yup….” I said rolling my eyes
“It’s been so long” he said taking a sip of his Pepsi
“Yeah, and I really wish it stood that way” I said looking for the waiter, so I could order myself a drink
“You left us” he said
“Gee I wonder why” I said smiling at him
“I wonder too. Nick was so sad when you stopped coming around” he said
“You wonder? Let me jog your memory. Junior year, lunch table, you called me four eyes, and said you’d rather kill yourself than date me” I said scoffing at him
“Oh…it wasn’t that serious though” he said waving his hand at me
“Wasn’t that serious…wow Chris you’re such a fucking airhead. Literally nothing has changed since high school” I said as I locked eyes with a waitress and waved her over
“I never meant for it to hurt you” he said
“Yeah well it did” I said crossing my arms over my chest
The waiter came over, and took my drink order, and also took our food order
“So uh…” he said trying to break the awkward silence
“What?” I asked him with an attitude
“I’m not sure what’s the attitude about, but I’ll ignore it” he said
“Christopher I don’t fucking like you, you were such a dick to me in high school, and seeing your face brought back all those terrible memories” I told him taking a sip of my root beer
“I’ve changed you know” he said rolling his eyes at me
“Still doing nothing with your life?” I asked him
“Actually, no. Nick, Matt and I got into the social media game and stood with it. We have over 5 million YouTube subscribers and over 7 million tik tok followers, and we just got back from tour” he said smiling at me, now I felt like the idiot
“Oh….even though I hate you I’m happy for you” I said trying not to smile at him
“Thanks! And how about you?” He asked
“Well um I finished my two years at college, and I’m a makeup artist right now, and that’s about it” I said shrugging my shoulders
“You know I’ve seen your work on instagram. I follow your makeup page. You’re really good” he said to me
“You follow my makeup page” I asked shocked
“Well yeah! I might’ve been a dick to you in high school, but I didn’t hate you” he said in a matter of fact way
“Oh….well thanks” I said, and at the same time our food came out
We started to eat, and not really chatting, just exchanging glances here and there.
“I saw you went to a Nardo Wick concert a few weeks ago” Chris randomly brought up
“Man I didn’t know you were watching me. I wouldn't have removed you off of social media” I said laughing a little bit
“Like I said I didn’t hate you” he said taking a sip of his drink
“But uh yeah I went to Nardos concert” I said
“Didn’t know you liked that type of music” he said
“Christopher…I moved here from New York I love hoodrat music like that” I told him
“I forgot” he said shaking his head
“What’s your favorite song?” I asked him
“Only if we can say it at the same time” he said
“Fine on the count of 1” I told him
“1,2,3 WICKED WITCH” we both yelled
“NO FUCKING WAY” we both said and started to laugh
“Alright Y/N I see you” he said nodding his head
“I guess we do have a lot in common then” I said looking at him
We spent the rest of the dinner laughing and catching up. I was starting to hate that him and I had a lot in common
“Man Chris if you were like this in highschool we would’ve been best friends” I told him
“I was an ass in high school” he said laughing
“You were, but it’s okay you’ve grown up” I said nodding my head at him
He looked at me for a split second like he was contemplating something
“Hey…wanna come to my house?” He said
“Ummm I’m not too sure Chris” I said
“Nick and Matt will be there” he said
“Yeah, but I don’t know” I said back
“Oh come on” he said
“Uhhh fine I guess” I said giving in
The waitress came back with the bill, and Chris immediately took care of it. Wow what a gentleman
After paying we got up and left walking out the door and to the right
“Where’d you park?” I asked him
“Park?” He asked confused
“Do you still not drive?” I asked rolling my eyes
“Nope!” He said all proud
“You really are a loser” I told him laughing
“Do you drive?” He asked me
“Yes, but I Ubered here. My car got totaled a month ago” I said
“Oh god!” He said shocked
“Yeah…drunk driver crashed right into my PARKED car….she was nice too. It was a Kia K5 perfect amount of sport car, and perfect amount of sedan” I said shaking my head
“Damn that sucks. Look who’s the loser now” he said laughing in my face
I rolled my eyes at him, and he ordered an Uber, and we ubered back to his parents house. It was a little after 9 now, and he said his parents would be sleeping, but Nick and Matt would be awake
When we got into his house we heard both boys in Nicks room. Chris walked to the door first, and opened it
“Yooo” he said
“How’d the date go?” Matt asked
“It went well” he said
“What was she like” Nick asked a little frightened
Chris moved back to allow me to enter the room
“NO FUCKING WAY” Nick screamed and ran over to me hugging me so tight
“NICKKKK I MISSED YOU” I said hugging him harder
“Dude I fucked missed you more. How the fuck did you guys land up on a blind date together” he asked
“Yeah yall fucking hated each other” Matt said
“It was Chloe” I said
“Fucking Chloeeeeee. Sneaky bitch” Nick said laughing
“I’m so glad to be seeing you guys again, and I’m so sorry I drifted from you both” I said
“These things happen, but I’m so glad you’re back here” Nick responded
We chatted for a little but before Chris asked if I wanted to go to his room, and I agreed
We went up to his room, and I sat on his bed. He shut the door
“It’s exactly the same” I said to him
“Well we live half here and half in LA, so there’s not much to do here” he said, slipping his sneakers off. I did the same
Chris and I were sitting on his bed just talking and laughing
“You’re so pretty” he said
“Thank you Chris” I said blushing
“You’ve always been pretty, but now you’re just so mature, and it’s hot” he said
“You know I used to like you in high school, and I thought you were so hot, but now….youre like a Greek god now” I told him
“Oh baby…don’t boost my ego” he said laughing
“It’s the truth…I don’t know your face not just looks more carved out, and you just got this look in your eyes now” I said staring at him
“ IM A MAN NOW” he said smacking his chest
“Oh god” I said laughing at him
“I’m just kidding baby” he said laughing with me
“I really want to kiss you right now, and I’m not sure if I’ll regret this or not” I told him looking down at his lips
“Come on princess, come kiss me” he said raising his eyebrows
I leaned forward, and started to kiss Chris. All those feelings I had for Chris in high school came rushing back. I felt like I was making my 16 year old self proud.
Chris slowly started to slip tongue into our kiss, and it became such a hot make out. Our tongues fighting for dominance and our teeth clanging together. As I pulled away I pulled Chris’ lip lightly
“Fuck baby that was so hot” Chris said looking at me through half lidded eyes
“Are you down to fuck” I asked him
“I’m down if you are, but this isn’t why I brought you here, and don’t feel forced to do anything you don’t want to” he said to me
“Chris I have wanted to fuck the shit out of you since I was 16….I AINT BACKING DOWN” I told him
“Oh princess I’m about to make your dreams come true”
He said
I got up and straddled Chris’ lap immediately smashing our lips together. Nothing but teeth and tongue as I started to grind down onto him
I pulled my shirt off, and unclipped my bra allowing my breast to fall free. Chris took his hat off tossing it to the right, and then pulled his shirt immediately connecting our lips again
“Fuck baby” he said pulling away and kissing my neck down to my chest, and then taking one breast into his mouth while massaging the other one
“Fuck Chris” I moaned out throwing my head back
Chris looked up at me with lazy eyes, as he moved to the other breast. Swirling his tongue around my nipple
He then started kissing down the valley of my breast, and lifting me up to kiss down my stomach.
With a flat tongue he licked from my stomach all the way back up to the valley of my breasts, up my chest, to the side of my neck, and then immediately met my tongue in another sloppy make out session
“God Chris you’re such a fucking slut” I said moaning
“Only for you baby” I said as he kept massaging my breasts
He let me stand up so I could remove my pants and under wears for him
My pussy was at mouth level to Chris, and he pulled me in closer lifting my left leg up to go over his shoulder, and immediately attached his mouth to my pussy
“OH FUCK” I said pulling onto his hair, and trying to stabilize myself
Chris was lapping at my pussy like it was water, and I was trembling barely able to moan because I couldn’t even believe what was happening right now
His nose was bumping against my clit in a way that was making my knees weak
“Chris I’m going to fall over” I said pulling his hair harder
He pulled away, and his mouth, nose and chin was covered in my arousal
“I need you so badly” I said rubbing my hands through his hair
“Whatever you want princess” he said
I got onto the bed, and Chris took his jeans and boxers off immediately hovering over me
“You gotta be real quiet princess” he said
“I promise Chris I’ll be good” I told him nodding my head
Chris make me like his palm so he could jerk himself off before fucking me
Chris was kind of leaning back on his knees, and he had my legs draped over his thighs. He thought his cock to my entrance and slowly started inserting himself into me
“Fuckkk” I whimpered as he slid all the way in
“Fuck baby you’re so tight” he said rubbing his hand from my stomach up through the valley of my breast, and lightly wrapping his hand around my throat, but not squeezing me
He started to thrust into me and good thing he didn’t have a traditional headboard because everybody would’ve known we were fucking
“Oh Chris” I moaned shutting my eyes
“Fuck baby you’re taking me so well” he said as he kept thrusting into me
His hips were smacking into me and his dick was hitting every single spot
“I need more” I moaned out
So Chris started pounding into me harder and faster, moaning and grunting and sweating. God this was so fucking hot
He snapped his hips into me, and I swear his dick kissed my cervix
“CHRIS” I yelled out
He immediately put his ring and middle finger in my mouth
“Shhhh baby” he said thrusting into me at a harder pace
“I always knew you’d be such a slut for me” he said as I sucked on his fingers and moaned around them
“Is my princess going to cum?” He said
“MHMM MHMM” I said around his fingers
“Good come on baby, cum for me” he said as he brought his other hand down to rub my clit
I was moaning on his fingers and thrashing around
Within seconds my hips came off the bed and my body started to shake as I came so hard on Chris’ dick
I was whimpering and trembling as he helped me ride out my high
He took his fingers out of my mouth and then pulled out of me. Taking his cock into his hand and jerking himself off
“I’m gonna cum” he said
Suddenly his jaw fell slack and his lower abdomen twitched, he came all over my stomach
“Fuck fuck fuck” he said as he came
We caught our breath, and he put his boxers back on, and ran to his bathroom to get tissue to clean me up
He came back and cleaned me up, and I slid my underwear back on, and he gave me one of his shirts to slip into
“God Chris….who would’ve known you were such a slut” I said as I laid down in his bed
“What’s crazy is my body count is only 1, well 2 now….you brought out the slut in me” he said laying down next to me and looking at me
“If there’s more of that, then I want it” I said
“You can have whatever you want baby” he said kissing me
Suddenly my phone started to ring, so I got up and walked over to grab it. It was Chloe and she was blowing my phone up
“Hello” I said as I put the phone on speaker
“BITCH WHAT THE FUCK YOU NEVER ANSWER ME I THOUGHT SOMETHING HAPPENED” she said yelling at me
“Im sorry…..we were busy” I said to her
“Busy doing what….” She said
“We were fucking” Chris yelled across the room
“CHRISTOPHER” I yelled
I took Chloe off of speaker
“Chloe I’ll talk to you tomorrow, and explain everything, but for right now I gotta go” I said and we hung up
“Come on baby, come lay with me” he said patting the side next to him
I ran over and laid with him, and we eventually fell asleep.
The End
Ouuu chile this was a lot to write, I really enjoyed writing this so whoever requested this I hope you enjoyed 🥰

summary: luke fell in love with a girl in his travel to camp. who? he had no idea himself. - based of somewhere in brooklyn.
warnings: short, angst, major character’s death

now listening to… somewhere in brooklyn by bruno mars
Tumblr media
“She was covered in leather and gold  Twenty one years old  I lost her in the cold  It's unfair, she's out there”
It's known to everyone in camp that Luke Castellan had travelled all the way from Los Angeles to New York to go to camp. Everyone also knew that he met Thalia Grace and Annabeth Chase somewhere in between these two cities. Although, what no one knew was that he met someone else in his travels.
The son of Hermes - who had no idea hi was a son of Hermes back when he met her - had to go from Vegas to New York. The easiest way to do that was by bus. And that's exactly how he went.
The trip went fine, and no one sat beside him. When he was in the stop by Washington DC, a girl came by his side and asked, "Is this seat taken?"
He took his cap away from his eyes and looked up at her. She was wearing a black leather jacket, a plain T-shirt, jeans and a high-top red Nike. Her hands and wrists were covered in golden rings and equally golden bracelets. She looked expectantly at him, and he nodded, scooting a little closer by the window as if to not bother her.
As the bus went from city to city, the hours seemed to drag by. With that, he eventually got closer to the gold-lover girl beside him, as they started chatting eventually.
The boy discovered that she was in fact from New York - Brooklyn, more specifically - but had to go to Washington every three months to check on her mom. She liked listening to hip-hop, too. He confined her that he was running away from Los Angeles and his crazy mom.
He didn't tell her that he was a demi-god, though. He couldn't quite believe it yet, and that would just make her think that he was insane.
“Little miss perfect sitting at the train stop  Red Nike high tops listening to hip-hop  While we were waiting started conversating  Before I got her name along came a train”
She looked perfect in his eyes. Despite being clearly exhausted from the many hours of constantly sitting down without ever getting up, she looked like a goddess - ironic, isn't it? And it happened that he fell in love with the girl.
But, as stupid as it was, they forgot to exchange names. He got her picture on his camera, but never her damn name. It was.. stupid, almost, but they completely forgot about the name detail. And it came to her stop
"Next stop, Brooklyn - New York!" The driver said, and she started gathering her stuff together. The time flew by when they started talking, and she completely forgot that she had to go home.
When it came to her stop, she gathered all the courage she had on her body and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Bye. It was nice to spend this trip with you." She said, and waved at him, leaving the bus.
That's when he remembered that she never gave him her name. But she was already far, far away from him.
Even is his death, he could never stop thinking about the mystery girl he met. She was his last thought. The last thing he could think of when dying was her face. On how much he wanted to know her name, if she was happy, if she went back to Washington to take care of her mom and if she ever thought of him again.
Maybe not. Maybe he was just another travel mate for her.
But now it was too late.
Luke died without knowing her name, orf she ever looked for him.
He died without knowing that she did.

ACOSM | The Night they went to Rita's
Tumblr media
azriel x rhysand's sister (oc)
warnings: alcohol/drinking, this was meant to be just fluff and a drunk Az but smut somehow made its way in so did both possessive and pouty Az
summary: Mor shares bad news with Valeria and the two decide they are in need of a fun night out. Rhysand invites himself and brings Az and Cas along. The finally go to Rita's and they all get a little carried away with shots.
A/N: this is an imagine among my collection that follow Rhysand's sister, Valeria. while I'm still working on them, you can find the masterlist for it here. this turned out to be waaay longer than I originally planned and I also wasn't happy with some scenes so I rewrote them a lot, which is why it took forever to update.
**
As the sun dipped, painting the sky with shades of pink and orange, Valeria found herself seated before her piano in her room. The open balcony doors welcomed in the cool, refreshing breeze. A week had passed since her haunting violin performance, the memory of its disappointing outcome lingered. She hadn’t seen her father since that night, avoiding him like a plague.
But this moment was different. She wasn’t performing for her father. Instead, she played solely for the love of the instrument she cherished the most–the piano.
Noctis, her devoted bird, perched on the music stand let out a chirp and stretched out his wings in encouragement. She took a deep breath, her fingers hesitating over the keys before they found their place. They tentatively pressed against the piano’s keys until a slow melody emerged from her fingertips, guiding her in a graceful dance across the keys. The song was delicate, its cascading notes forming a shimmering, dreamlike tune.
As the last note dissolved into the air, she felt a cool caress dash across her cheeks and swept her hair aside, curling against her ear to whisper to her. Beautiful. She turned in time to see Azriel sit beside her, his wing extending and curling around her to accommodate the both of them on the piano bench. Her wings were glamored–something Azriel noticed she did more of since Mallory’s death.
His hazel glimmered with admiration as he looked down at her. She returned his gaze with a warm smile. “Would you like to play?”
“I’d rather listen to you.” He replied smoothly.
She spared a glance to Noctis who observed the Shadowsinger curiously. “I think Noctis wants to hear you play,” she teased and Noctis chirped in agreement.
Azriel rolled his eyes in mock frustration. It seemed Noctis was always on her side. He knew he was not going to win this one so he bowed his head at her, silently conceding her request. Velaria beamed, resuming the delicate melody she had been playing moments ago. Azriel’s own fingers glided effortlessly across the keys, his own crafted melody harmonizing seamlessly with hers.
He knew how to play the piano thanks to her. After learning that Shadowsingers do not sing, despite their name, she had offered to teach him, insisting that if he wouldn’t sing aloud, he would have to sing with his heart. Their lessons began shortly after he moved in with her family. Cassian and Rhysand weren’t as welcoming of him initially so he was grateful for her. They spent their evenings after dinner practicing and despite their youth, she was always patient with him. Their sessions gradually tapered off as Rhysand and Cassian grew warmer towards him. He only played the piano occasionally, usually at Valeria’s request.
Azriel never forgot the night he met Valeria, the memory forever engraved into his mind. She had met his shadows, looked into their darkness and smiled. She embraced the very thing many feared. He watched as his shadows whirled around them as they played the piano, warmth pooling into his heart as she welcomed their cool touch, a fond smile gracing her lips.
“Perhaps you’ll sing for me next?” Valeria mused as their song came to a delicate end.
His shadows twirled in excitement, almost eager at the thought of hearing their master sing. He couldn’t help but let out an amused huff. Even his shadows were in her favor today.
Valeria’s laughter filled the air and his heart fluttered at the delightful sound. He loved seeing her happy and cherished every moment that made her smile. It had taken all his willpower to contain his rage toward the High Lord the night he broke Valeria’s heart. He hated the way she’d pale at the sight of her father after and he hated having to show loyalty to the cruel man as his spymaster. It was unfortunately the only way he could remain close to her.
“What?”
Azriel blinked. He hadn’t realized he had been staring at her in a daze, his thoughts lost in the moment. “Nothing,” he mumbled, trying to sound casual, though a gentle flush warmed his cheeks.
“You’re adorable.” Valeria said softly, leaning in to plant a tender kiss on his cheek. An affectionate gesture that brought a rush of warmth to his heart.
“Adorable?” His response carried a hint of surprise. He had never been described that way. His fingers reached out to her face, coaxing her to meet his gaze that had darkened slightly. “I don’t aim to be ‘adorable’.”
“Tell me, then. What do you aim for?”
Your heart, he wanted to answer. Although, he could not bring himself to say those words aloud. A part of him feared that she did not want him the way he did. That perhaps she only desired him physically but he could not go back to how things were before. Not when he already had a taste of her perfect lips. Her soft skin and breasts. Her pretty cunt as she came on his tongue.
If all she wanted was his body, he would gladly keep giving it to her. He would rather have her the way he did now than not at all. He leaned in further, his breath fanning her face and lips ghosting over hers.
“Your pleasure.”
He was then claiming her lips, his grip still firm on her chin, as his words ignited a heated desire in her stomach. He kissed her softly and slowly, taking delight in the way she melted into him, wanting to press against him. Gods, he would never have his fill of her. He craved her. Desperately. And all the time. The inexplicable pull toward her had not dwindled one bit since he first felt it and a part of him wondered if she could feel it too.
He released his hold on her chin and placed his hands at her hips instead, shifting her onto his lap. His lips parted from hers as he pulled her back flush against his chest, one arm wrapping itself around her waist. The movement caused his wings to brush against the piano, making it sing clumsily and scaring Noctis at the abrupt sound. The bird flew away, accompanied by some of Azriel’s shadows, toward the open balcony.
Azriel brushed her long hair to the side, deciding to claim another of his favorite spots–her neck—his cock straining against his pants. He was sure she could feel it pressing into her back. She tipped her head towards his shoulder to allow him easier access as he kissed her neck, easing his way down. He already knew the spot she was most sensitive to. His teeth grazed her soft skin before sucking, smirking against the curve of her neck when he heard her let out a quiet moan. The sound had his cock throbbing and aching. He was filled with the urge to elicit more moans from her, louder ones.
His mouth did not leave her neck nor his arm from her waist as he used his knee to spread her legs further apart. His free hand lightly traced his way up her leg, then her thigh, his shadows bringing the skirts of her dress up with him. He could smell the sweet scent of her arousal, already feeling how wet she was for him as his fingers ghosted over her core.
“Do you still find me adorable now?” He whispered against her skin.
“Yes.” Her reply was quick and breathless and his shadows reported that she was smiling.
“Wrong answer.” He told her, his fingers leaving the spot she needed him most and resting at her thigh instead.
She whimpered at the loss and grinded against his thigh, coating his pants with her arousal. He responded by tightening his hold on her waist, large hands splaying across her abdomen to keep her from moving. “Azriel.” Her voice was begging this time, a desperate prayer of his name.
“Yes?” He grazed his nose against the curve of her neck, inhaling her scent. He took delight in the power he held over her in the moment. The way she begged for him, the way she was so willing to submit herself to him.
“I don’t just find you adorable. I find you enchanting. Beautiful” –Valeria grasped the arm wrapped around her and he reluctantly let her pull it away, keeping his other at her thigh. She wrapped both of her hands around his larger one, tracing the calluses. She pressed tender kisses along the back of his hand, drawing stars along his scars with her lips–”Every part of you is beautiful.”
Azriel was glad she could not see him as her words had brought a deep blush to his face. His hands had always been a haunting insecurity of his. Yet, she loved them, reminding him every chance she could. His wings fluttered softly around her.
He decides her words were good enough, fearing that if he let her continue he’d melt into her completely. The fingers that rested at her thigh continued their trail to her dripping core and her breath hitched as he rubbed against her sensitive clit. He teased her entrance before eagerly sliding two fingers in.
“Do you know how pretty you are?” He praised her as he thrusted his fingers into her, his thumb grazing against her clit. “Spread for me and dripping for me like this.”
“Not as pretty as you.” She gasped as he abruptly slid another finger in.
“Fuck,” he breathed into her neck, curling his fingers and eliciting a cry from her. “I need to be buried inside you. You think you can take me now?”
“Please.”
Azriel was then carrying her to her bed. He hovered over her, wanting to be able to see her beautiful face as he buried himself into her. His shadows brought her skirts up again, pooling the thin fabric at her waist. He wasted no time in ripping her underwear off of her in one smooth motion before pulling his aching and throbbing cock free. Its tip was angry and seeping with precum as he fisted his generous length.
“Are you sure, princess?”
“Yes, I’m ready. I can take it.”
Valeria licked her bottom lip, remembering the first time she had taken him into her mouth and the delicious sounds she had drawn out from him as he came down her throat. That mouth of hers would be his downfall, Azriel thought with a curse as he recognized the look on her face. He spread her legs wider, pressing his tip in slowly and torturously until he was filling her up completely. They both let out a moan as her walls fluttered around him.
“That’s it, my pretty girl.” Azriel leaned down, tugging the top of her dress down to expose her breasts. He took one into his mouth, kneading the other with his hand as he began to move with slow and hard strokes.
His wings unfurled behind him, casting shadows across her body as they fluttered in pleasure, his thrusts picking up in pace. She was already a mess for him, her soft moans and the sinful sounds of skin slapping against skin filling the room. Her final breaking point was when his thumb reached down to rub against her clit again. He pulled away from her breasts to watch her. Her beautiful face was contorted in pleasure, eyes fluttering shut as he made her see stars.
Azriel’s breaths started to grow heavy, sweat glistening on his forehead as he felt his release surface. He let out a deep guttural sound as he spilled into her, his abdomen clenching and hips stuttering.
Valeria’s eyes opened at the beautiful dark sound that escaped from him to find him gazing down at her. The way he was looking down at her had her coming undone again, her walls pulsing around him and eliciting more whimpers from him as she milked his cock for every drop.
Her teary eyes, wide and wild, locked with his, her breath hitching as pure shock flashed across her features briefly. In that moment, it was just the two of them, filled with unyielding desire for one another. That intangible silver and gold thread radiated from the very depths of their intertwined hearts.
“Valeria,” Azriel couldn’t hold himself back any longer, three simple but powerful words hovering over the edge of his lips. “I—fuck.”
“Az?” She called out softly, watching as a shadow curled against his ear.
He kissed her lips softly, an apologetic look on his face when he met her gaze again. He pulled out of her, nearly groaning at the sight of their cum seeping out of her. The desire to lap it up with his tongue, to have her coming undone for him for the third time was strong. But his shadows notified him that there were footsteps approaching.
“I’m so sorry.” His voice cracked, his eyes swirling with an emotion Valeria couldn’t quite place.
“It’s okay.” Valeria was reassuring and full of understanding.
Yet she couldn’t help the ache in her heart as he disappeared into his shadows.
With a slight wince, she hastily got up and ran to her restroom to clean herself up. She adjusted her dress to cover herself back up again, discarding her torn underwear. She placed a glamor–a skill she had perfected– over herself to cover the scent of night-chilled air and sex. She barely had enough time to compose herself before she heard the doors to her room burst open without a knock in warning.
She slapped her warm cheeks and took a deep breath, feigning nonchalance as she walked out of her restroom. But there was an inner turmoil within, her heart still heavy with the words Azriel had wanted to say.
“Oh Val! I’m so sorry for missing your performance! My father locked me away for a week!” Mor exclaimed, rushing toward her cousin and dramatically throwing her arms around her. She then pulled away, choosing to sit on Valeria’s bed with guilt in her deep brown eyes.
“It’s alright.” Valeria brushed off, her heart still racing from Azriel.
Mor frowned. It was evident by the look in Mor’s eyes that she knew all that transpired last week and she wasn’t surprised, considering Keir had been present when she confronted her father.
Valeria shifted uncomfortably, not wanting the memories of that night to resurface. Her eyebrow furrowed as she pushed thoughts of Azriel away and processed Mor’s initial words. “You said your father locked you away?”
It was now Mor who shifted uncomfortably. Her gaze fell, landing on all the jewelry that adorned her hand. She absentmindedly twisted one of the rings on her finger—a simple gold band with a small engravement of illyrian wings. Valeria recognized it as Mallory’s.
“He punished me for talking back to him.”
Valeria walked toward Mor, cursing the world for bestowing cold fathers upon them. She could sense there was more to it. While she would not be surprised that Keir would punish her for merely breathing, Mor’s eyes were telling that there was more to the story.
When Mor finally looked up, there were tears brimming her eyes. “I’m engaged, Val.”
Valeria’s eyebrows rose in concern. “What? To who?”
“Beron’s prick of a son. Eris.”
Valeria’s eyes widened. The heir to the Autumn Court had found his bride after all, and an immediate rush of anger coursed through her. She knew Mor had no desire to be married, dreading the day her father would force an engagement upon her. It was a day Valeria dreaded for herself too. Being a female in Prythian unfortunately meant being sidelined, deigned to breeding and parties and child-bearing.
“Engagements can be broken off as quickly as they are made,” Valeria told her, gently brushing a loose blonde curl behind her hair in a comforting motion. “We’ll find a way to get you out of this.”
“Thank you.” Mor’s eyes met Valeria’s warm violet ones. She knew she could count on her cousin for anything, whether it was something as fun as learning how to pierce each other’s ears, having a shoulder to lean on when needed, or sharing their deepest secrets–secrets that not even Rhysand knew. Valeria would gladly be her partner in crime whenever, wherever.
Mor’s gaze then fell upon Valeria’s neck and let out a gasp. “Val…what is that?”
Valeria’s hand shot up to cover her neck, the exact spot Azriel had been fixated on earlier. The marks Azriel would leave on her body were usually covered by her clothes. This was the first time he had marked her neck and in her haste to cover the evidence of her scent, she had forgotten all about it. She felt the heat rise to her neck before she could control it, mentally cursing herself.
Still, she desperately attempted to feign nonchalance.
 “Nothing.”
“That is not nothing!” Mor insisted with a teasing smile. It was as if a flip switched inside her, her earlier sadness and grief replaced by curiosity and amusement. “That’s a hickey, isn’t it?”
Sensing the lie about to unfold on her tongue, Mor gave her a look.
“Why ask if you know the truth anyway?”
Mor squealed in excitement, urging Valeria to join her on the bed. She hadn’t heard any good gossip in weeks and she wanted to know more. “Who?”
“I can’t say.”
Mor’s jaw dropped and she let out another gasp as realization dawned on her. Valeria hated how intuitive her cousin could be, how quickly she could read her. She was glad Rhysand was not the same when it came to things like this, despite his daemati abilities. “It’s him, isn’t it?”
Valeria’s silence was enough of an answer and Mor, with an amused laugh, dramatically threw herself onto the bed. “Val, you naughty girl!”
When Mor turned to look at Valeria, she found her cousin with her hands clasped over her face in sheer embarrassment, attempting to conceal the blush that colored her cheeks. “Tell me everything! Now!”
Valeria dragged her hands across her face, sending Mor a deadpanned look.“Aren’t we supposed to be discussing how to get you out of your current predicament?”
“You two fucked didn’t you?”
“Mor!” Valeria exclaimed sheepishly.
Mor’s eyes were glittering with delight. She propped her head on her hand as she looked at her mortified cousin. “Is it true what they say about Illyrian wingspans?”
There was a pregnant pause.
“Yes.”
And then Valeria was collapsing onto the bed as Mor had done, the two girls laying side by side as they burst into laughter.
“How?” Mor was then asking.
“I don’t know. It just happened.” Valeria replied with a shrug, staring up at the stars and fairy lights hung over her bed. “He wanted me and I wanted him and I know it’s wrong. I should’ve saved myself but I didn’t want my first time to be with whoever my father–” She winced at the mention of him “--deems worthy. There is very little I have a choice in but this, this is something I wanted to have control over. It may be silly but I wanted my first time to be special.”
“I have always felt something for Azriel. I never saw him like a brother the way I do with Cassian.” Valeria continued, feeling her heart pounding at her throat. She had never voiced her feelings aloud and it was terrifying but there was a weight being lifted off her shoulders–one she hadn’t realized she’d been carrying for a while.  “I thought that maybe it was just a crush but after the first time we slept together, I wanted more. I still do. I want him. All of him and all the time and I’m scared…”
Mor frowned. “Scared?”
“Of what this could mean, of where this will lead us.” Valeria said, her eyes glistening and heart aching. “There’s also a lingering thought…that while he does care for me, it is all driven by attraction and other–” Valeria struggled to find the words. She didn’t want to say it outloud, voice her suspicions. It wasn’t a lack of trust towards Mor. She trusted her with all her heart. But because saying them aloud would make them more real and she wasn’t sure she was ready to face it all yet.”--other forces.”
The words that had almost slipped from Azriel’s mouth…she had an inkling of what they could be. They were words she was yearning to hear, she was sure of. Words that would mirror what she feels for him but something snapped in her earlier when their gazes locked. She wondered if he had felt it too, if that’s what had spurred him to dare to say those words and if it did, it brought a terrifying sense of uncertainty to her…
“Stop that.” Mor’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts. “What you and he have is not merely attraction or inspired by forces beyond our control. It can’t be. I’ve seen the way he looks at you since our first solstice together.”
Valeria allowed Mor’s words to comfort her, desperately clinging to them. She knew she should talk to Azriel but she didn’t want to let her insecurities and unease destroy what they have. Perhaps, it was selfish of her. But she would rather have him the way she does now than not at all.
Mor sat up with a sigh. She was happy for Valeria but also worried, knowing that the High Lord would not be accepting of the relationship between her and Azriel. There was also still the pressing matter of her engagement to Eris and all the implications that would follow. Her having to move to the Autumn court–away from the two people she loved most, Valeria and Rhysand. Not to mention having to give herself to the cruel prick and bear his children to secure him an heir.
No, she grimaced at the thought. She refused to allow that to be her future, a thought lingering in the back of her mind already. She turned back to look at Valeria, who remained laying in the bed. “Well, we’re fucked aren’t we?”
Valeria chuckled humorlessly in agreement. “Should we raid my father’s wine stash?”
“Are you sure you want to piss him off even more right now?”
“Fuck him.”
Mor then grinned as an idea sparked within her mind. “Let’s go to Rita’s!”
“Yes!”
“Absolutely not.”
Mor and Valeria whipped their heads at the intruding voice. They found Rhysand, who had appeared just in time to hear Valeria’s offer at raiding their father’s wine stash. He was leaning against the doorway with a smirk on his face and arms crossed. He hadn’t meant to sneak up on them, the door to her room was left slightly open. Anyone could’ve easily walked in.
His violet eyes were sparkling when he added:  “Not without me.”
Mor’s grin widened. “Invite Az and Cass.”
It was decided then–that they would all go out to Rita’s for fun and a very much needed night out.
Mor winnowed back into Valeria’s room after being gone for a couple of minutes. In her arms, she carried a towering assortment of dresses. When Valeria had complained of having nothing to wear–despite her actually having plenty to wear, something Rhysand had annoyingly reminded her of–, she hadn’t expected Mor’s enthusiasm to let her borrow something of hers.
Valeria could barely see her cousin’s face and couldn’t help but laugh. With a huff, Mor threw the pile onto the floor and began to go through it, picking out the dresses one by one. She showed them to Valeria, who seemed to shake her head no to every one of them, until finally, something caught her eye.
Mor squealed in excitement and then insisted on allowing her to do Valeria’s makeup, reminding her that she had to cover up the hickey before anyone else noticed it.
**
The night was sparkling when Azriel spotted Valeria. When Rhysand had invited him and Cassian to go out tonight, his initial answer was no. That is, until he found out that Valeria was going. Always the gentleman, he had been waiting for Valeria and Mor to arrive to walk them inside while Rhysand and Cassian found them a table inside RIta’s.
His gaze darkened as his eyes swept over Valeria. The dress she wore was sinful, short and tight, exposing the luscious skin of her legs. The legs he had wanted to wrap around his shoulders as he made her come with his tongue earlier.
“Hey, Az.” Mor called, pulling his gaze away from Valeria. The blonde motioned to her mouth. “You got a bit of drool there.”
His heart skipped a beat, body tensing as he was reminded he had to be more careful.
Valeria smiled at him, brushing her fingers against his hand as he guided them through the entrance. “Don’t mind Mor,” she whispered to him. He would have to ask her later but for the moment, Valeria’s calm demeanor was reassuring to his worries.
Azriel would’ve allowed his body to relax had it not been for the ravenous eyes that fell upon Valeria and Mor when they entered. His wings curled around the two females on either side of him with a glare, making Mor roll her eyes.
If he thought the dinner party with the High Lords was torture, boy did The Mother have something even more tortuous in store for the night.
**
The vibrant colorful fae lights cast playful shadows as Valeria and Mor moved effortlessly on the dance floor. The upbeat rhythm swirled around them, pulling them into the heart of the pulsating music. Laughing and swaying, they were engulfed in the euphoria of the club.
Mor, with her carefree spirit, spun around, her laughter filling the ear. “We should take more shots!”
“Yes!” Valeria was quick to agree, finding Mor’s energy infectious.
Grasping her hand, Mor led Valeria to the bar. Valeria let out a curse once they reached the counter. “I left my bag with Rhys.”
Mor’s lips curled into a smirk. “Oh my sweet Val, we’re not paying for our shots.”
She then placed her shoulder on Valeria’s, prompting her to turn slightly to her right. She found a handsome young male watching her with an appreciative gaze. He smirked at Valeria when he realized he finally got her attention. Mor leaned in to whisper in Valeria’s ears. “He’s been staring at you all night.”
“I’m not interested,” Valeria whispered back, offering the male a timid smile.
Mor giggled. “It doesn’t matter. Just act like it so he can buy us drinks! Quick, he’s coming!”
Valeria barely had enough time to act nonchalantly as the male approached them.
“Hello, beautiful.” He greeted her.
Valeria looked up. When she took too long to respond, she felt a slight shove from Mor. “Hi,” she managed to breathe.
“Allow me to buy you and your friend a drink.”
Valeria’s lips curled into a smirk that mirrored Mor’s. Was it really this easy? She found herself nodding at the interested male, teasing him as she leaned in to tell him what Mor and her wanted. The bartender was quick to prepare the shots, handing them out to the three of them.
The male licked his bottom lip, his gaze not leaving Valeria as the three of them raised their glasses. “To–”
“Fuck off.”
“Hey!”
Valeria glared as Azriel appeared out of nowhere and snatched the shot glass from her hand, downing it himself in one big gulp. Unlike the fae male, he didn’t wince as the amber liquid burned his throat. He glared daggers at the male, who was too close to Valeria for his liking.
Mor’s eyes darted between the two males and she downed her shot before Azriel could take hers too.
The male chuckled. “It’s alright, I can just buy you another one.”
Azriel’s lips curled up in a snarl. He stood tall in front of the male, towering over him and blocking his view of Valeria. His eyes were dark and full of rage. “I believe I told you to fuck off.”
“Azriel!” Valeria called to him sharply but he did not falter.
“You should’ve told me you had a boyfriend, gorgeous.”
“He’s not her boyfriend.”
It was Mor who had replied with a mischievous glint in her eye.
Azriel let out a growl, his fists clenching at his sides and a flash of hurt crossed his eyes. His shadows coiled and slivered up his shoulders, ready to strike like a venomous snake. The male was smart to take that as his sign to leave, recognizing that the glaring male in front of him was a Shadowsinger and one to not be messed with.
But the male couldn’t help but glance at Valeria once more. “I’ll see you around, gorgeous.”
Azriel turned to the two females. A glare was still etched onto his face. Valeria felt his wing against her shoulders, shielding her from the male’s lingering gaze. She noticed the way it twitched, sensing he was irritated. She bit her lip, finding a sliver of delight in Azriel’s jealousy and a heat daring to pool in her stomach.
“What the fuck, Az?” Mor then whined. “We were just trying to get free drinks!”
Azriel directed his gaze towards her, glare still on his face but now waning.  Digging his hand into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of golden coins, brashly throwing them onto the counter. Mor’s eyes lit up at the sight. His eyes were locked on Valeria’s when he spoke. “If you want a drink, you ask me.”
“Alright, then.” Valeria replied, holding his gaze in challenge. “Then take a shot with me.”
So Azriel did and then they were taking another.
After three shots, the three decided to head back to the table they had picked out, surprised that no one else had taken it as Rhysand and Cassian were no longer seated there. Valeria shuffled into the booth beside Mor and Azriel seated himself across from them.
Valeria’s eyes darted around the hall. She couldn’t find her brother at the bar nor the dance floor. “Where’s Rhys?”
“Fucking some girl in the alley.” Azriel answered with a nonchalant shrug.
Valeria choked on her drink at his bold words. She had only heard him speak that way when it was just the two of them in the intimacy of her room.  “And Cas?”
“Also fucking that same girl.”
Mor’s eyebrows knitted together while Valeria’s eyes widened. It was Mor who spoke next. “What about Tanwyn?”
“He says she doesn’t mind sharing.” Azriel shrugged again, uninterested in continuing the conversation. He was already accustomed to Rhysand’s and Cassian’s sexual endeavors. There was a short time, back when they had just discovered the pleasures of being with a female, that the three of them would bring a female back to the training tents to share.
Azriel had stopped joining them. He had stopped seeking pleasure with other females shortly after as he could no longer find the release he desired with them. He brought his drink to his lips as he looked at the reason why, who was sitting right across from him and avoiding his gaze.
“What about you?” Mor dared to ask, although she had an inkling as to where his desires were.
His gaze was still locked on Valeria as he spoke, his shadows dancing around him.  “I realized I don’t like sharing.”
**
Valeria and Mor had returned to the dance floor. They had tried to convince Azriel but he did not give in, not even when Valeria had given him an adorable begging look. The music throbbed in their veins and they twirled to the rhythm. Their care and worries dissipated as they enjoyed the liberating dance and sheer fun of the moment.
A sentiment that Azriel, who had decided to watch them, did not share. He didn’t know what drink he was on but he could feel his heart pounding in his ears and the world began to spin. He was still mulling over the male from earlier. He couldn’t blame him for being interested in Valeria. She was beautiful, after all. What stung had been Mor’s word. While him and Valeria shared many intimate moments together, she was not truly his and he knew he was selfish to believe she could ever be.
Rhysand joined him at the booth moments later, reeking of sex and alcohol. He wore a smug grin on his face.
“What a shame you didn’t join us, Az.” He said, wiping away the glistening remnants of his endeavor on his mouth with his thumb. “What a tasteful little thing she was.”
Azriel only hummed in response. His eyes returned to the dance floor to the exact spot Valeria and Mor had been dancing in. His gaze softened, amusement flickering in his hazel eyes as they caught Cassian, who rushed toward the girls enthusiastically. He watched as Cassian swayed his hips to the music, almost grinding against Mor in a playful manner while Valeria, who danced in front of Cassian, cheered them on.
Azriel didn’t know when it happened but after engaging in light conversation with Rhysand and returning his attention to the dance floor, he found a shirtless Cassian. It wasn’t long before the dancing male had found a table to climb on. He waved his shirt around with one hand, a drink in his other. He chugged the drink in his hand as he moved his hips sensually, eliciting cheers from the dancing crowd. Mor and Valeria were among the crowd, throwing coins–the ones Azriel had left with them–at the dancing Illyrian.
“We should stop him.” Rhysand mused.
“Yes, we should.” Azriel quipped.
But neither of them made a move to do so.
They continued to watch their best friend make a fool of himself, bursting into laughter when Cassian lost his footing and fell off the table. Cassian had made his way back to their table, wings hanging low, distraught over the way his performance had ended. His words were slurred as he complained to Rhysand and Azriel.
Rhysand and Azriel were in the middle of consoling the defeated Illyrian when Valeria and Mor appeared. Their hands were full as they carried shot glasses.
“A round of shots to celebrate the best performance ever!” Valeria exclaimed with a grin as she clumsily raised her glass.
Cassian’s head lifted from the table. “The best performance ever?”
“Best performance ever!” Mor echoed, encouraging the rest to grab a shot.
Cassian’s eyes lit up as he took the remaining shot glass. They all grinned at each other as their glasses clinged, cheering for Cassian and then they were downing the amber liquid in one go. The night continued on, full of more dancing and drinking.
Valeria had lost count on how many shots they had taken but it was enough to have them all stumbling their way out of Rita’s. She let out a curse as she looked at her brother and friends behind her, realizing they were too drunk to winnow back to the Moonstone palace and too far away from the House of Wind to fly.
Rhysand, who couldn’t remember his name but could remember all the lyrics to an old song, clung onto Cassian, who joined him in singing out loud. Mor was right behind them, lost in a fit of giggles. Valeria allowed them to walk ahead of her before she proceeded to continue but a large membranous wing came into her view, halting her in her step.
“Let’s fly back?”
Valeria laughed as she looked up at Azriel, who now stood in front of her. “I think we’re too drunk for that.”
“M’not.” Azriel objected with a defiant look on his face.
Valeria watched as he unfurled his wings, preparing to push off the ground. She reached forward in an attempt to grab his hand and stop him. He made it almost five feet into the air before he lost his balance and came crashing down.
“Az!” Valeria exclaimed but she couldn’t help the laugh that escaped from her.
She ran to Azriel to make sure he was okay, relieved that his injuries were nothing but a bruised knee. He looked up at her, still on his knees. His shadows swirled around him, some reaching out to caress her face in a loving manner.
A sly grin formed on his face. “Looks like I’ve fallen for you.”
Valeria blushed. “Yeah, sure.”
“Sure? What do you mean sure?” Azriel’s lips pressed into a pout. A sight Valeria found absolutely adorable. “Are you mad at me?”
He was then wrapping his arms around her, burying his face into her stomach. “Please don’t be mad at me.”
Valeria ran her fingers through his soft hair.
“I’m not mad at you.”
 “I love you.”
They said in unison. Azriel’s three words hung in the air. She froze, her fingers no longer brushing through his hair, eliciting a small whimper from him.
“You’re drunk, Az.” She replied, her voice soft and quiet, opposite to the beating of her heart. “I’m drunk.”
“I still mean it.”
The fingers embedded into his hair made their way to his chin. She coaxed his gaze to meet hers as she lifted his chin up.
Her eyes, glossy and tinged with red, still shone with an unmistakable longing and admiration–feelings she held exclusively for him. She reached out to lightly brush his cheek with her thumb.
“Then, I love you too.”
His eyes fluttered shut at her touch. “I want to be your boyfriend.”
“I want you to be my boyfriend too.”
Azriel inhaled sharply, his thoughts a swirling tempest like the shadows around him. He wasn’t sure if the alcohol was to blame entirely. He wondered whether her words were genuine or merely an agreeable response.
**
Valeria didn’t know how but by some miracle–perhaps thanks to the help of Azriel’s sober shadows–they found themselves in the middle of his room. His arms were still around her and head still resting on her stomach. She crouched down to shift one of his arms around her shoulder, looking at his shadows for help. They complied and together, they heaved him onto his bed.
The room around her was spinning and she lost her balance for a moment, the effects of all the alcohol still strong. She blinked the room into focus and her eyes darted around. She had never been inside Azriel’s room at the Moonstone palace. It was neat and simple, adorned with dark shades of blue and black.
Her heart swelled when it landed on his nightstand and she recognized the worry dolls she had gifted him years ago, neatly placed. She noticed some were missing but she caught sight of one of them peeking out from his pillows.
When her gaze traveled back to Azriel, she found him propped on his elbows, looking right at her, awakening butterflies in her stomach. His black dress shirt was rolled up to his elbows and unbuttoned, revealing the tattooed muscled skin below. His dark hair was tousled and earring glimmering under the fae lights. His eyes were hooded, clouded with admiration and lust.
He looked absolutely sinful.
Azriel smirked at her, spreading his legs further for her. There was a devious glint in his hazel eyes as he glanced to his lap and then back to her. “Won’t you join me in my bed, my pretty girl?”
Valeria bit her lip. Her legs were moving before she could form a proper reply. She didn’t hear the thud against the door or the footsteps behind her, too consumed by her desire. But she did catch a figure out of the corner of her eye.
“I’ll be your pretty girl, my pretty boy!”
Valeria swayed on her feet as Cassian swept past her. He dashed for Azriel and threw himself on the bed. Azriel let out a groan, cursing under Cassian’s weight. It was then that Valeria heard Mor’s voice and she turned towards the open door just in time to see Rhysand face plant on the floor.
**
Cassian had been the first one to wake up, finding himself cuddled against Azriel’s back. Mor was on Cassian’s side, curled up against a pillow, snoring softly. When he sat up, he grimaced at the pounding in his head but also at the drool he had accidentally left on one of Azriel’s wings.
His eyes had then darted around the room, remembering that Rhysand had been the one to winnow them back to the Moonstone palace. It had taken a couple of tries to get them to the Moonstone palace due to Rhysand’s inebriated state. He had winnowed them to Windhaven right outside of Lord Devlon’s camp on accident first and then to the Sidra before finally succeeding. As soon as they had arrived at the Moonstone palace, Cassian had insisted they–him, Rhys and Mor–sleep in Azriel’s room as his bed was the largest and comfiest.
Cassian couldn’t help but let out a chuckle when he found Rhysand near the door. He remained on the exact spot he had face planted on. Except, he was laying on his side.
But where was Valeria?
A slight frown formed on his face as he searched for her. He could smell her so he knew she had to be in the room too. Something prompted him to look to Azriel again. He followed the curve of his wing–the one that didn’t have Cassian’s drool. His eyes widened, lips pressing into a taut line. Hidden beneath Azriel’s wing and curled into him was Valeria.
His hands were pulling at Azriel’s shoulders, forcing him to lay on his back. Valeria shifted, turning the opposite way. Azriel let out a groan, squinting his eyes. “What the fuck, Cas?”
“Get up.” Cassian almost seethed. “Now.”

What died didn't stay dead What died didn't stay dead You're alive, you're alive in my head
The house was quiet. He rolled over and saw the clock flashing 10:15 am. She must have taken the kids to school before going to work he assumed as he closed his eyes again.
Sam loathed this day. Every year it would reach a new year and instead of being happy to bring the new year in it felt like a great weight on his chest. January 24th was the worst day of the year for Sam Winchester.
He lay in bed simply staring at the ceiling. He wasn’t surprised that no one had woken him up. It was common knowledge to anyone around him that he did not function on this day. It was almost like he regressed back to the person he was 20 years ago in that barn.
And damn had it really been 20 years. That realisation only made it hurt more. 2 full decades with his brother.
2 full decades of his life Dean had missed.
He felt angry. Angry that just when life was looking good for once one last curve ball was thrown and suddenly Sam was doing this alone. He was angry for the life that his brother never got to live. Angry that he never got to meet his niece and nephew. Angry that he never got his own family.
He lay there stewing in his own guilt, anger, and grief before the sound of the bedroom door opening caught his attention.
Sam turned his head to see a figure peeking out from behind the door. He felt a small smile grace his lips. “Shouldn’t you be at school?” He winced slightly at how raspy his voice sounded.
The door slowly opened more and in stepped his youngest Hailey. She was only 14 (recently 14) yet every day more and more she reminded him of his brother. Her own brother Dean didn’t resemble his uncle much and in a way Sam was grateful. Sometimes around this time of year saying his name could be too much, he didn’t know what he would do if his son also shared his brother's looks.
“Told mum I was sick. Didn’t wanna leave you alone.” She said quietly as she walked over to sit on the edge of the bed. Sam sat up and sent her a weak smile. He simply watched her for a moment. She didn’t look much like either of her parents. She didn’t have Sam’s brown eyes or her mother's nose and hair. No Hailey Winchester had Dean green eyes, she’d had his blonde hair which had naturally darkened to a light brown as she had aged. She had his nose and most hauntingly his smile.
Sam tried to push the comparisons away. He knew it wouldn’t do him any good. He lifted the cover beckoning her to get into the bed. She grinned and accepted his invitation.
Sam felt his heartbeat pick up at her grin. Yet again all he saw was his brother.
Hailey moved closer to her dad allowing him to wrap an arm around her. “I would ask if you're ok but it seems like a stupid question.” She joked trying to soften his mood.
Sam chuckled before nodding. He pressed a kiss to her head before sitting back. Hailey was quiet for a long moment but Sam could tell she was thinking about something.
“Whatcha thinking about?”
“Do you think he would have liked me? And Dean?”
Sam stiffened slightly at her question. He thought for a moment before smiling. “He would have adored you both. Would have spoiled you both too.” Sam smiled softly.
She smiled up at him with that damn smile. She settled back down into his embrace. “I wish I could have met him.” She said quietly.
Sam looked down at her and ran a hand through her hair. He wanted nothing more than for Dean to meet his children. Hell, when he’d first found out he was gonna be a dad the first thing he had done was go to call his brother. Then he remembered and put the phone down with a heavy heart.
He was quiet for a moment. He’d never really told Hailey much about her uncle. Sure he’d told Dean but he was older and he didn’t wanna freak Hailey out. Taking a deep breath Sam turned to his daughter. “I never told you about what happened when I left Stanford did it?”
He knew he would have to tell her the truth sooner or later. Tell her about the life he had lived before she’d been born. He glanced over to the clock. They had a good few hours before anyone would be home.
I know better But I still feel you all around I know better But you're still around

TOMMY SHELBY MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Jennifer walks into her elderly grandmother's room at the rest home. Though the 92 year old doesn't remember much from the last 60 years, Jennifer still loved visiting her Grandma Rose. She enjoys listening to the stories Rose tells her, ever since the young 30 year old woman was a child. Her Grandma Rose told the best stories and in the best way. And Rose never forgot telling them to her. It was one of her memories that refuses to fade.
"Good morning, Grandma Rose," The young woman greets her grandmother with a warm smile and kiss to her cheek.
"Good morning, Jenny," the elderly woman smiles, her eyes lighting up seeing her youngest grandchild, the one she's always been closest too and the only one who name hasn't left her mind. All her other grandchildren were familiar faces that didn't visit her as often as Jenny does.
"How are you feeling today?" Jenny asks taking a seat across from her at the small table in her room.
"About the same," she replies. "How's your mother?"
Jenny's mother, Caroline, is Rose's second child and her first daughter. Her uncle, Rose's oldest and only son, died a few years ago from an illness and her younger daughter died when she was just a baby.
"She's good, she's hoping to come see you next week," she informs her though she knows she won't remember it by time tomorrow comes. "She found something for me to show you," she reaches into her handbag, pulling out an envelope. Opening the envelope, she takes out the three photos that are inside and lays them on the table facing Grandma Rose. "Mum found these in the attic and thought you might like them."
A smile graces Rose's lips as tears build up in her eyes looking at the photos with so much love that it makes Jenny feel emotional.
The first photo was of a young woman who couldn't be much older than Jenny is now. The second photo is the same woman with a handsome man, on what looked to be their wedding day, instead of looking at the camera. They were gazing at each other with so much love and adoration it makes Jenny's heart melt. The third photo was the same couple, a little older, with a baby girl sitting on the woman's knee, and a boy who couldn't be more than 10 standing beside her as the man stood behind her with one hands on her shoulder and the other on the boys shoulder.
"This was my mother, Y/N," Rose tells Jenny as she picks up the photo of the woman. "This was before she met my father. Her first husband died in the war. She was only 23. They weren't married more than 6 months. It took her a long time to want to love again and then my father came along. He was a widow himself, with a son, my half-brother Charlie. Do you remember your Uncle Charlie?"
Jenny smiles fondly remember the elderly man that always snuck her treats as she grew up. He had passed five years ago. "He was a lovely man. You both never spoke much of your parents. How did they meet?"
"My mother always said it was fate," She says, her eyes moving to the photo of the married couple as she picks it up. "They met back in 1925..."
Y/N was growing frustrated with Adam, her older brother, as she stands in the only suit shop there is in Small Heath, Birmingham. The 34-year-old didn't want to be here in the first place but of course Adam needed a woman's opinion on the suit that was currently being tailored for him. She doesn't understand why he needed a new suit when he has plenty at home. He told her he didn't have a date or that he wasn't going any where fancy, that he just needs one and that should be enough of an explanation.
Leaving Adam to be tailored, she looks around the ready made suits to see if she could find one she likes for him. Nothing in particular catches her eye. They all looked the same to her but she was no expert on fashion. If it hadn't been for their older sister, Edith, growing up, she wouldn't know how to dress herself appropriately, let alone someone else.
"You would have been better off bringing Edith instead of me," she calls to Adam moving the suits along the rack, "Or better yet that girl you fancy. That's why you want the suit, isn't it?"
"You really thought you were my first choice to bring with me?" he teases and winces after the tailor purposely pokes him with a needle. "Edith was busy with her children."
Edith is almost forty and pregnant with her and her husband's 8th child. Y/N is lost on how Edith could do it, popping out babies all the time. Edith's oldest child, a boy who's 17-years-old, the youngest, a daughter, is 2-years-old. She's due to have her 8th baby in two months.
"And the girl I fancy, is out of town for the week," Adam continues. "I know you don't understand this because you haven't put yourself out there in 10 years, but this suit is going to help me finally ask her on a date."
"Is the suit going to ask her for you?" she teases her brother, earning a chuckle from the tailor.
"For your information my dear little sister, suits give a man a certain confidence like a woman with a beautiful dress that was made just for her," he states confidently. "And at least I'm trying to date. You're almost 35, with no husband and no children, you're a spinster." He winces again as the tailor pokes him even harder this time.
"I'm a widow actually. You're the one who's never been married," she growls at him coming to where he's standing. "Why is it okay for you men to sleep with any woman you want and not have to consider marriage or having a family? But when a woman my age isn't married with children, we're spinsters and unlovable?" She ignores the smirk on the tailor's face as she directs her glare at her brother. "You know what, you're on your own."
She turns on her heel and goes to storm out the door when she bumps right into another person, almost knocking herself back on her bottom. Lucky for her, the person's hands find her waist stopping her from falling backwards. "I am so so-"
She is cut off when her eyes connect with eyes so vividly blue that she could drown in them.
"Sorry," she finishes barely above a whisper, as though the air in her lungs have gone.
"Don't apologise," he tells her. "Are you all right?"
She nods unable to find her voice. She's never met a man with such beautiful eyes. She feels herself enchanted by them. When he removes his hands from her, a coldness settles over her. It wasn't until then that she noticed how warmth she felt when he was touching her.
Finding her voice, she decides to introduce herself, holding her hand out towards him. "My name is Y/N L/N."
"Thomas Shelby," he introduces himself taking her hand in his, the warm feeling returning to her. "Call me Tommy."
"Mr Shelby!" the tailor calls to the man in front of her. "I won't be a minute."
Tommy nods towards the man, before looking back at Y/N. "It was lovely to meet you, Ms. L/N."
"It was lovely to meet you too, Mr Shelby," she agrees.
He gives her a small polite smile and moves past her to go towards the tailor. She watches him for a moment, taking him all in, from the way he walks to how he stands, to his mannerisms when he speaks and listens. She didn't know him at all but there was something about him that drew her in, and it wasn't just his beautiful ocean blue eyes. She finds herself wanting to know him and everything about him. Little did she know that he was feeling the same about her.
It was at this moment, her brother, fully dressed joins her. "I'm sorry for what I said. I'm just worried for you, sister. I don't want you to end up like mother when father died. I don't want you to end up alone."
"You don't need to worry about me," she tells him as Tommy's eyes connect with her own. She feels her heart skip a bit and her breath catch in her lungs but manages to look away from the handsome man, with his high cheek bones, plump lips and beautiful eyes.
Her brother notices what's happening and lets out a small groan as he pulls her out of the suit shop "Of course the first man to take your fancy after 10 years is none other than Thomas Fuckin' Shelby."
"You know him?" her gaze snaps to Adam as they walk towards their shared home.
"How do you not know who he is?" he answers with his own question, looking at her like she's grown three heads. "Everyone from Birmingham knows who he is."
"We're not from Birmingham, are we?" she scoffs. "So who is he?"
"He's the fuckin' King of Birmingham. Leader of the Peaky Blinders."
"Well, that just makes him even more interesting," she mumbles more to herself as she gazes back towards the shop, hoping to see another glimpse of the handsome gangster.
"Your Great-Grandfather had quite the reputation in Birmingham, even in London. A lot of people would say he was ruthless, cold, demeaning and a lot of other bad words and he was those things but he was also very smart, caring, loyal and he loved my mother completely. She was his Queen and he treated her like one. Everything he did was for us and the rest of his family," Grandma Rose explains after telling the story of how her parents met. "You look him up on that computer thing you have, but don't believe everything you read. The coppers had it out for him and tried to make him out to be the worst human being they had met. But there was also someone out there much worse than him."
"Do you think about them often?" Jenny asks her.
She nods, "All the time, more so now since I'll be joining them and Charlie soon."
"Hopefully not too soon," Jenny smiles sadly. The thought of losing her Grandma Rose breaks her heart.
Rose reaches out to hold her granddaughter's hand. "I want you to keep the photos. They would love for you to have them. You look just like her."
"My mother? I know." She gives her hand a gentle squeeze, hearing the words Rose always told her, more so now that she was losing her mind.
"No, not Caroline. My mother, Y/N. You look just like her but you have my father's eyes. Those beautiful blue ones that could drown someone in them," Rose smiles and stands up from her chair. "I love you Jennifer, don't ever forget that."
"I won't," Jenny says as she helps the elderly woman into her bed. "I love you too, Grandma Rose." She places a kiss to her cheek and goes back to the table, looking at the photos once more as she picks them up and puts them back inside the envelope.
Jenny looks back to her grandmother who's already drifted off to sleep and smiles. She goes back over to her and places a kiss on her forehead before leaving the room, closing the door behind her. The first she decides to do as she leaves the rest home is to look up Thomas Shelby, her great-grandfather.

After the show
Pairing: alive!Reggie Peters x reader
WC: 3.2k
Summary: After being away for a few months you were finally back in Los Angeles, just in time to watch your best friend Julie perform with her band. The first time you got to see them live and get to meet them, including the cute bass player.
A/N: Here's something new which probably nobody still counted on getting from me hahah but writing has always helped me cope with some stuff and even though I hadn't pictured myself returning to this, here I am, dealing with life problems by escaping into fanfictions. So, I hope you guys still read it and like it!!
Tumblr media
It had been a while since you saw Julie last. You had lived with your dad last semester while your mom had to go abroad for work. That left you at the other side of the country, a six-hour flight away from your best friend and your normal life.
Of course, staying at your dad's wasn't the worst. You got along great. One of the only plus sides of that move was that you could spend more time together, but you also had to get used to a new place and new people. And you missed your friends dearly. Daily Facetime calls to Julie and Flynn kept you going, but those declined in frequency as well. Everybody got busy, so these past few weeks it had been, at most, one call a week. With your upcoming move back home to California, Julie's successful debut with her band and Flynn managing them, there hadn't been a lot of time. Until now.
You were finally back in California, basking in the Los Angeles sun. The hot sand beneath your feet warmed your soul. A content smile graced your face while you were waiting for Julie and Flynn to join you. This felt like home. Definitely.
Your serene moment got interrupted as someone practically fell into you, making you tumble forward a few steps. You were able to keep standing with arms still wrapped around you. With them came a squeak and the call of your name before the figure, which turned out to be Julie, came around to your front. As soon as you saw that familiar face you pulled her into your arms again. Yep, home. "Oh my God, I missed you so much!", you said, squeezing her once more.
"Same! I can't believe you're back! Finally!" The two of you let go of each other and settled onto the sand. "Tell me everything!"
"Well, you already know basically everything," you laughed. "I mean, the last time we talked wasn't even 24 hours ago."
"I know!" Julie took ahold of your shoulders and shook you. "Way too long! I need a play-by-play of your flight."
"Uhm ok, so, when I got to the airport..." And so you told Julie everything that happened at the airport, on your flight, at the reunion with your mom, the ride home, just everything up until the point where she had joined you at the beach. "When is Flynn coming by the way? Shouldn't she be here already?" You looked around hoping to catch a glimpse of the girl amidst the other beach-goers.
"Oh yes, I forgot to say! She actually had to hang back for a bit. She was able to get us a gig tonight, totally last minute, so she had to organize some stuff, but you'll see her later when you come to the show."
"Oh, so I'm invited, huh?" You bumped her shoulder.
"Of course, you are! We made sure to have you put on the guestlist. Then you can also meet the rest of the band! They're so excited to meet you. I mean, Flynn and I always talk about you, so they're always on us about when they actually get to meet you." She laughed at the dorkiness of her friends.
She could still picture the first time you were brought up in conversation in front of them. Flynn had been late to watching the practice and when she finally did come in, she looked a little distraught. Julie had asked her what was wrong, but didn't expect that the reason for her distress was actually your distress. You had just broken up with your partner who was not ready to commit to long-distance, even just for a while, so you had called your friends in tears. The boys had immediately told Julie and Flynn to not worry about practice and call you back and be there for you. Since then, you had been topic of conversation a few times.
"Actually," she continued, "Reggie could not shut up about you being at the show today since we found out it's happening, so you can't disappoint my bassist by not showing up." Julie wiggled her eyebrows at you. That's what you get for one time mentioning that you thought the dark-haired bassist was cute and asking about him. You had kept up with Julie's band, watched all their music videos and the private photos and videos that Julie had sent you.
You felt a warmth spread over your neck and cheeks, slighty embarassed by the teasing. "Oh please, Julie, shut up." You chuckled and looked out at the waves crashing onto the beach. "Of course, I'll be there. I'm super excited to meet the band, too. And to see you perform live!" Looking back at her, you saw the spark in her eyes that had been lost for so long after her mother's death, but there it was, portraying her excitement for making and sharing her music.
The moment got interrupted by an alarm sound coming out of Julie's pocket. "Oh ok, that's me. I actually have to run now," she said while standing up and silencing her phone. "I need to prepare for the show, but I'll text you all the details and will see you there tonight! Ok, bye, love you!" She shouted over her shoulder while already walking away in a hurry. You laughed to yourself at her behavior. It hadn't changed in all this time. You stayed at the beach for a few more minutes, before deciding to go home and get ready yourself.
You looked in awe at the line in front of the club the band was playing at tonight. So many people were here to see your friend perform. It was crazy. And you actually got to walk past all these people to tell the bouncer your name and be let in before all of them. The whole experience was so surreal, but it was everything you had ever hoped for your friend. Inside was already pretty packed as well but Flynn had texted you where to find her, so you made your way through the crowd to the roped-off area at the side which was slightly elevated. You once again gave your name to the woman standing there. She scanned her clipboard before she moved aside to let you in.
You spotted Flynn pretty easily in her eye-catching outfit. She was sitting in the far corner, closest to the stage, typing away on her phone. You walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey there, stranger!"
She turned around quickly. Her eyes widened when she saw you standing there before she jumped out of her seat with a wide smile on her face. "You're here!" She pulled you into a hug. "It's so good to see you! Wait, let me look at you!" You were pushed an arms-length away, so that she could check you out from head to toe. "And you look amazing! Perfect! Show-stopping!"
"Well, I hope not. I did come here to watch the show after all." You took the seat next to Flynn's, catching up with her until the lights dimmed and the show started. You and Flynn immediately got up from your seats as the stage lights came on and illuminated your friend and the rest of the band. Julie's gaze quickly flickered up to where you and Flynn were standing before she started playing the first notes of the song. Actual tears sprung to your eyes as you watched your friend live her dream. You were so proud of her.
You watched her interact with the other band members while performing. They all seemed to have so much fun on stage and you could clearly see their passion for music shining through. More than once did your eyes glance over to the bassist. You had to admit that Reggie looked even better in person than on the screen. He had to know what he was doing when he put on that leather jacket for the performance. Damn.
When the show ended, you actually felt out of breath from all the dancing and jumping and singing along you did with Flynn. The whole concert was so much fun and you could not get rid of the smile on your lips. "So, I am in charge of getting you to Julie's for the after-show party," Flynn turned to you and explained.
"Wait, there's an actual after show party at Julie's? And her dad's fine with it?"
"Yeah, it's just a few people and as long as we clean up and don't make too much noise, he's chill. So, you coming?" Flynn held out a hand for you to take and then skillfully maneuvered you through the crowd. The ride to Julie's turned out to be Flynn's mom who greeted you with a hug. You three chatted for the whole ride, mainly about your last semester and the show, before she dropped you off at Julie's. Before driving off she reminded Flynn to be respectful and considerate of the people living in the house to which Flynn rolled her eyes, but promised to be on her best behavior.
After her mom was gone, she turned to you. "Ok, come on, we need to get some snacks and drinks out before the others arrive." She led you to the garage, which you hadn't entered in what felt like years, and pulled the doors wide open. The lights turned on and as you looked around you realized that not much had changed, except for some trinkets being strewn about here and there. You quickly helped Flynn get some drinks out of the mini fridge and onto the table as well as some snacks when the first few people already started arriving. You easily recognized Nick, one of the first to enter the garage. He hadn't changed much from when you last saw him, still had the same Golden Retriever look to him. Carrie was also easy to spot. She spotted the two of you instantly and came over to greet you. From your calls with Julie and Flynn you were already aware that the feud had ended and there was some kind of friendship blossoming now.
"Hi, girls!" She greeted both of you with a hug before she turned to you. "It's nice to see you! How long have you been back?"
"Oh, just today actually. Been quite a busy day." You made some more small talk with her while other guests arrived and Flynn went off to greet them. It wasn't long until the conersations stopped to greet the arriving band with a round of hollers and applause. The guitarist, Luke, you knew, basked in the applause, entering the garage with raised arms and a grin, ready to high-five his friends that were waiting for him. Julie, Reggie and Alex followed. They had the same grin on their faces, the performance high, but passed up on the high-fives.
Carrie excused herself, but you didn't stay standing alone for long as Julie spotted you and pulled Alex and Reggie over to you. "Guys, I want you to meet someone," she exclaimed and proudly introduced you.
Aley was the first to speak up. He had a nice smile on his face. "Hi! It's really nice to meet you! I'm Alex. Julie has told us so much about you, it's like meeting a legend." Julie hit him in the arm for that comment. "Hey! What? It's true! You're always talking about her like she's a celebrity or some kind of myth. No wonder Reggie-" He got cut off by another hit in the arm, this time from the bassist. "Alright, fine, I'll stop stalking! Anyway, nice to meet you. I'm gonna go over there to my boyfriend." He turned and walked right into the arms of a long-haired guy on the other side of the garage who had been engaged in a conversation with Luke.
You turned back to the other two still standing with you, holding back a laugh. Your gaze fell onto the one who had yet to introduce himself. His eyes were still trained on Alex' back, but as he turned towards you, he realized that your focus was already on him and his cheeks turned red. It only took him a moment to regain his cool though. "I'm Reggie. Nice to meet you!" His eyes trailed your body once over. He shot you a smile. "I can't believe you're even prettier in real life than in the pictures." That earned him another smack against the arm from Julie. He yelped. "Hey! That's not how you treat your bassist!"
"Whatever, go get Luke, I want to introduce him, too!" Rubbing his arm he left, pouting, to get the guitarist. As soon as Reggie said a few words to him, he came jumping right over and put his arms around Julie's shoulder, placing a kiss on her cheek. She chuckled a little at the display of affection. "Luke, I wanna introduce you to-"
He cut her off, saying your name himself. "You talk so much about her. How could I not know?!" He smiled brightly and pulled you into a hug. "Great to finally meet you! How did you like the show?"
"Ah, it was amazing! You all looked so great out there! I had so much fun and everything sounded great! You even played my favorite song," you admitted.
"Oh, and which one is that?" You told him your favorite song, him nodding along to your answer. "Yeah, great taste you got there!" He looked around the room as a group of guys called his name. "Alright, I gotta go entertain for a bit, but we'll definitely catch up soon!" He promised with a wink and another kiss to Julie's cheek.
"Is he always like that?" You asked her.
"Most of the time." She nodded before breaking out into a laugh which you joined.
At some later point in the evening you found yourself on the couch with a drink in your hand. Reggie let himself fall into the seat next to you. "Hi there!" You smiled at him.
"Hi!" The small smile he gave you made him look even cuter. "Sitting here all by yourself?"
"Well, I was just waiting for you to come keep me company."
"Oh." That took him by suprise. "Here I am!"
You tilted your head to the side a bit, taking him in some more. He was still wearing the leather jacket you liked so much during the show with a simple white shirt below it and a pair of jeans. "I really liked to watch you play. I wanted to tell you that before, but you left so quickly."
"Ah, thank you! Yeah." He rubbed his neck as his cheeks turned pink. "Sorry that I left so quickly. I actually did want to talk to you some more! Julie told us you were coming to watch us play, so I- we put some extra effort into making this show amazing!"
"You certainly did! How long have you been playing bass for?"
"So long I can barely remember. I learned the guitar first though," he admitted.
"So you play the guitar as well, wow! I've never had any musical ability. Julie's mom tried to teach me to play the piano a long time ago, but it was completely hopeless." You chuckled at the memory. It was right in this room so many years ago.
"Maybe the piano just wasn't the right instrument for you? I can teach you some guitar if you want. Or bass, if you prefer."
"Alright, I'll hold you to it, but really don't get your hopes up. It might end in an absolute disaster," you joked. "Let me actually give you my number, so we can set a date."
"Oh yeah, totally!" He pulled out his phone and opened it to a new contact. You put your number in and called yourself right after saving it.
"Now I have your number as well." You smiled at him before saving the number into your phone as 'that cute bassist'. You hoped he had seen the name but when you looked back at him his eyes were trained on your face.
An hour moved by as you kept sitting on that couch, talking and laughing with Reggie. Luke, Alex and Julie had each come over for a few minutes but left fairly quickly to give the two of you some space.
"Hey, do you want to get some fresh air? It's getting a bit stuffy in here," you suggested to which Reggie agreed. The doors had been closed by now to keep the noise from reaching the neighbors, so that you hadn't noticed it'd gotten a bit chilly. Before you could say or do anything Reggie already took off his jacket and laid it over your shoulders. You pulled it on tighter as you took a seat on the stairs, the smell of the leather enveloping you. It smelled good, you imagined Reggie to smell distinctly of the jacket as well.
"Can I ask you a question?" He asked warily.
"Of course." You assured him, placing a hand on his thigh.
His eyes fell from your face to your hand. "Are you flirting with me? Like, are you actually hitting on me?" His hopeful eyes found yours again as your smile turned wider.
"Yes, Reggie, I have been all evening."
"Oh, ok, good, so I didn't misinterpret anything." He laughed a little and placed his hand over yours that was still lying on his thigh. "You see, I think you're really pretty. I've thought that since Julie and Flynn showed us pictures of you for the first time. And now I know, you're really funny, too, and I'm just totally blown away by you, so I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me?"
"I would like that a lot, yes. You lnow, I've had this little crush on you for a while now that Julie and Flynn have been making fun of me for. There's something about you that really draws me in." You bit your lip, taking Reggie's attention from your eyes to your lips.
"So, uhm, can I kiss you right now?" He asked.
Your lips spread into a wider smile as you shuffled closer to him on the stairs. "Yes, Reggie, I'd love that." There wasn't much of a gap between your faces anymore now, but he took his sweet time letting you feel his breath on your lips before finally connecting them. His lips moved softly against yours. He squeezed your hand on his thigh and brought the other one up to cradle your face.
You pulled back a little to catch your breath. When there was a crash from inside the garage your gaze quickly flicked to the door to check if anyone was coming out. When nobody did, you turned back to Reggie. "Do you wanna go back inside or keep doing this?" You asked him, hoping for the latter.
"I think, I'd rather stay out here a bit longer." He smiled before catching your lips in another kiss under the starlit sky.

Okay so... I have an AU idea for TADC
So seeing all of these AUs for TADC around gave me an idea for one, and if I get enough positive feedback I'll probably draw stuff about it. The name for it is called The Sinful Circus AU. The concept is that the digital circus is a prison for some of the worst prisoners of all. Each one of the circus members are themed after one of the seven deadly sins, and their crime reflected of that. (Note: Lust, in this context, is NOT sexual- but more manipulation. Please keep that in mind)
Caine was the very first prisoner forced to put on the headset. He was Specimen 0, and therefore in there the longest. So long that he forgot he was even a human being in the first place, instead thinking he's an omnipresent AI. His real name is Camerom Ringler, and his sin was Pride. Crimes he committed involve fraud, identity theft, use of illegal substances, and various other unknown crimes
The second longest lasting prisoner is an older man named Roman Kingston, and his sin was Greed, using his royal status as a prince to steal from thousands of people. The circus made him insane, and now he's just in his own world, claiming a small portion of the place as 'his kingdom' while not being all quite there at the same time
The next was a woman named Amanda Dollie, who's sin was Sloth. She was the head secretary for the president at the time of her sentence, but she hadn't been a good one. She made a number of short cuts which lead to a near economic collapse. The circus pushes her around often, even though she can be put back together easily, it's still painful and hard to handle a lot of the time
Next was Jackson Conejito. His sin was Lust, but not in the way most think when hearing that. It was an intense longing for hatred and to cause havoc and chaos, becoming a menace DUE to this longing. Robbery, breaking and entering, and arson to name a few- this longing to give others hate grew more and more until he was finally caught. He's the least affected within the circus, but his bunny like appearance was a more ironic punishment
Soon enough the next one was a girl named Grace Mezzanine- who's sin was Envy. Due to her front of being a constantly happy and cheery person, most were surprised when it turned out that the lovable woman was a murderer- killing people who upset her or made herself conscious and jealous. Her love for musical theater taught her how to act, so her circus body being just as spineless as she was made the most sense
Second to last was Zoe Clash, who's biggest sin was Gluttony. They couldn't get enough attention, being the most well-known sinful criminal. A media star that, due to being so obsessed with beauty and being the center of attention, lead to the second most deaths even if indirectly. To match the ugliness in their heart, they turned into something that's hard to describe aside from 'unnatural' and 'mismatching'
The last currently alive, and the most recent of them all, was Polina Shutnik. Not much was known about the woman. She was born in Russia but grew up fully American. She caused the most deaths out of the people stuck in there. Anything that's considered a weapon will put the normally tired and anxious woman into a murdering machine until she passes out or the item is ripped from her hands. She's also the one who remembers the least about herself in the circus. All she remembers is having a headset put onto her head. She takes the form of a jester, confused and scared whilst looking for a way out
These seven aren't the only ones who were put in here, but most abstract into torturous monsters that the coders that keep them within use to hurt them constantly. Abstraction happens when the human body of the prisoner dies, and the headset isn't taken off within seconds after their death
These seven prisoners, here to live the rest of their lives within this digital torment... Or maybe not
(If you have any thoughts for this AU- let me know! I wanna work on this more because I find the idea cool and interesting!)

The throne room was abuzz with father’s men talking over one another when you arrived, the herald announcing your entrance and silencing the cacophony for a moment. You strolled right up to the Oaken Throne, its roots forever entombed in the stone while the stump was carved by the finest craftsmen who also built the palace that surrounded it.
“What is the cause for so much excitement, your grace?”
“My darling child, thank the stars you are here.” The King rubbed his forehead to ease the pain that often flared when difficult decisions needed to be made. “News arrived from Westeros, Viserys is dead and his council has crowned Aegon as his successor.”
“That snivelling worm!” Your fingers curled around the pommel of the sword hanging from your hip. “And what of Rhaenyra? Surely she will not take the treachery lying down.”
“You know as well as I do, she does not have the support to take her seat on the Iron Throne.” The King drummed his fingers over the arm of his throne and watched you pace before him.
“The skies must be nearly black with ravens in Westeros.” You stopped pacing to look at the tapestry map of the Known World hung across the wall, narrowing your eyes at the embroidered lettering locating King’s Landing. “Every man and his dog will be out trying to gather support for one side or another.”
The doors to the throne room were thrown open and the heralder looked pale as he announced the new arrival. “Prince Aemond, requesting to seek an audience with the King of Scythe.”
“Speaking of dog,” you muttered at the same time as Aemond stepped into the doorway, pushing past the heralder as he spoke, “Request suggests I will take no for an answer.”
The faded pink scar on your chest burned as he scanned the cavernous room and you noticed his step falter at your sight only because you knew how graceful his feet could carry him. More than once, your hands had found themselves between your legs on the nights spent alone, his name on your lips as you chased down a release that couldn’t come close to matching what he had given you.
“You dare to waltz in here and demand an audience with the King.” It didn’t matter that the king’s guards were stationed between Aemond and your father, you drew Black Heart from her scabbard and crossed the room. “I should have your tongue for the insult.”
The curve of his lips left a perpetual smirk on his smug face but the press of your sword to his chest had it widening by the second. “That would be an enormous waste, princess. I think you would rather like what my tongue can do.”
His words were only for you to hear and you felt them all the way down to your toes that curled in your boots before Ser Negan reached your side and placed a calm hand on your sword arm. “The prince is here as messenger, not warrior. Isn’t that right, Kinslayer?”
Kinslayer. That was a new title or you would have heard of it already, but which of his blood relatives had he killed, you wondered.
Reluctantly, you sheathed Black Heart and took a breath as you regained your composer that had been misinterpreted as anger and not what it truly was, desire. As your sword slid home, you swore it would not be the next addition to the Iron Throne, nor would your fathers.
Aemond finally looked away from you as you turned your back on him, trusting Ser Negan to protect it as you walked back to your father’s side. No one moved until you reached the last step and were securely placed behind three rows of kings guards.
“I come with a proposal,” Aemond spoke to the King, his voice calm and confident despite standing in the heart of his enemy's territory. “To unite our people and end the conflict that has kept us divided.”
The King chuckled and your own laugh echoed his as the rest of the room held its collective breath. “Your family has already usurped one throne. Is your plan to use this union to steal mine too? Or, perhaps you just want my soldiers to die in the war you have waged with your sister?”
Aemond ran his forefinger over his bottom lip and you remembered the feel of them as moved inside you, your corseted dress suddenly too tight to breathe in. He seemed to notice the tell of your dark thoughts and stared at the skirting as if he could see the throb pulsing between your thighs.
“I won’t lie, if the opportunity were presented I might take it for myself,” Aemond said to you before flicking his eye to the King. “But if my dear wife-to-be begged on her knees, I may be inclined to listen to her requests and let her homeland remain untouched.”
You cocked an eyebrow at his bluntness and for confirming that the union would be one of marriage and not trade, not that it made you any more comfortable. There was already an heir to the Oaken Throne but your half brother was travelling the dangerous northern provinces, if something were to happen to him you would be the next in line to the throne. It would be dangerous to have someone with Targaryen blood married to someone so close to the throne.
Your father rose from his throne and drew Dragon Bane from where the ancient sword had rested against the arm. The sword had been forged by dragon fire and could cut through the thick scales that protected the beasts, one of only two blades that remained intact to this day.
“I do not take kindly to threats,” the King stated as he watched the flames from the large hearth reflect in the metal. “Especially ones towards my sweet daughter.”
“I intend to find out just how sweet she is.” The prince laughed as he knew the truth and took a lazy step closer to the guards ready to cut him down and pulled a scroll from his cloak. You caught sight of the dagger that you were intimately familiar with as his cloak fell back into place and licked your dry lips. “I have already taken the liberty to draw up the contract. You will find the terms quite agreeable.”
Quiet as a mouse, your Lady-in-Waiting skirted around the edge of the room until she was at your side. The slip of a girl took your hand and kissed the top of it as she curtsied, passing a note into your palm before disappearing silently into the crowd.
Two dragons overhead.
One order and the city beyond the stone palace would burn.
The King stepped down from the raised platform the throne sat upon and raised his sword, the guards parting at his gesture. “I will tell you exactly what you can do with that scroll, prince, but I assure you it won’t be enjoyable.”
The threat of violence was shimmering in Aemond’s eye and he was excited to hear the threat that would give him cause to damn the city, you couldn’t allow that to happen. “I accept your proposal.” Your father’s eyes flared with fury as he spun around to see blood dripping from your palm, the promise already made. “You will not make an oathbreaker of me will you, your grace?”
Grief washed over your fathers face and he dropped his sword with defeat, cursing your mother for the drop of witch-blood that passed through the female descendants. The cocky grin from Aemond only served to enrage your father more until he screamed for the room to be emptied.
“Not you,” the King ordered when you stepped past him, he caught your elbow and held you there until the last guard closed the heavy wooden door behind him. “What were you thinking! You wish to live with our enemy?”
“I was thinking I don’t want to see our city and our people burn the second the spoiled brat doesn’t get his way.” You slapped the note into his palm and watched his eyes widen at the words. “I have studied the dragon wars, father, two of the beasts could destroy Scythe. I am sworn to protect my people, even if it means sacrificing myself.”
“The Targaryens will expect the support of our soldiers.” Your father shook his head and cupped your face. “He will demand that you live in King’s Landing with him.”
“They don’t know how many soldiers we have. Half are in the north and they cannot expect us to leave our country undefended so we can argue for the national corps to remain stationed here.” You placed your hands over your father’s and patted them reassuringly. “Once word gets across the Narrow Sea that Scythe has allied with King Aegon, Rhaenyra will assume that means our vast army of legend. Perhaps it will be the deterrent needed to avoid war all together.”
“I will pray to the stars to keep you safe.” His fingers traced the blood promise cut across your palm. “That is all any of us can do now.”
Tumblr media
“Where is he?” you demanded the second you stepped out of the throne room and found the foyer empty, save for the king's guards.
“Prince Aemond?” Ser Khoal asked with a confused frown. “He said you would know.”
Forcing a smile on your face, you bid farewell and took the shortcuts the maids used until you reached your room without the eyes of the guards seeing.
“You whoremongering, dragon’s turd.”
Aemond chuckled without casting a glance in your direction as he sat in your chair, watching the flames in the hearth. “Is that any way to speak to your soon-to-be husband, my darling?”
You stepped in close between him and the fire so he was forced to tilt his head back to meet your glare. The temptation to deal with the consequences of being an oathbreaker seemed to look pretty good all of a sudden when he licked his lips and smirked. The urge to wrap your fingers around your sword was strong but you transferred the deadly strike to a more forgiving slap across his pale cheek. “Suck a dick, Aemond.”
The blood from your palm smeared across his cheek that was burning red in the shape of your hand and in a heartbeat you found your feet swept from under you and the stone floor rushing to meet you. The jarring of the crash sent an ache through your bones but the gasp of pain was stolen by the fingers that gripped your throat. You tried to buck him off but he was taller and pinned you beneath his body with the ease of his training.
“You know exactly what my sexual preference is, love,” he taunted in your ear as he eased his grip slightly to let you take a wheezing breath in.
“Do I?” you rasped with short intakes of air and smirked as you felt his cock pressed hard between you. “You did…fuck…my ass…”
With a growl he released you to tear the buttons on his tunic and pull it over his head. Lean muscles glowed in the firelight and you ran your fingers along the scar over his heart before raking your nails down. His back arched and his lips parted, enjoying the pain with a feverish shudder that sent a bolt of lightning straight to your core.
“Did you find such pleasures when you left?” you asked as he pulled a short knife from his boot and cut through the material of your dress from hem to collar.
His eye fluttered shut as you freed his cock and ran your thumb over the swollen, leaking head. “No one would dare bleed a prince of Westeros.”
“Such a shame.” You moaned as his lips sealed over your breast and his tongue swirled and sucked your nipple to a stiff peak before moving to your other. The velvet warmth of his tongue and the soft tease of his long hair falling over your body had your hips rolling to see what else you could feel. “One day I will bathe in your blood and know my realm is free from your poisonous family.”
You cried out as he bit your nipple before releasing it and nudging your legs wider to bury himself in your cunt with a hard thrust your body wasn’t prepared for. The stretch of his thickness burned and the mewls from your lips spurred him to move faster until your back was bruised from the stone beneath it.
“I love it when you talk dirty,” he growled against your lips before taking them roughly like he did your body with a clash of teeth and tongue. You wrapped your legs around his hips and gasped as his cock rode over the deepest parts of you, the pressure of impending release building low in your abdomen until it burst and your legs trembled. “We’ll see how quick you are to threaten my blood when it is your child, a Targaryen, who will be born from this union.”
You tore your legs from his hips about to push him from your body but it was too late, his teeth clenched with a deep moan and his back arched as he spilled his seed deep within you. “Fuck you, Aemond.”
“Insatiable little minx.” He chuckled and took a seat back in your chair, his trousers still hanging down his hip and his glistening cock still standing tall. He caught you staring at the hard length of him and wrapped his fist around it, smooth gliding strokes thanks to the mix of your cum coating him. “Suck a dick, princess.”
You could have tossed a shoe at him for throwing your words back at you but the want to hold his most precious anatomy between your teeth and watch him balance on the knife's edge of desire and fear had you kneeling between his parted knees.
The first long lick drew a moan when you reached the sensitive slit at the top and dipped the tip of your tongue inside but the second one drew a groan. His need to have your lips wrapped around his cock was showing but you were not finished teasing him.
“Careful, prince, you’re looking desperate.”
He bared his teeth and grabbed the back of your head as he bucked his hips. His cock filled your mouth and choked off your air until your nose pressed against his skin. Your throat convulsed at the intrusion and he fell back into the chair giving you a moment to breathe before pulling you back down until you gagged. Spit ran down your chin as you moaned around him and the taste of his cum coated your tongue, tears burning in your eyes. It was a mess, raw and primal.
“Fuck,” Aemond murmured through his clenched teeth when your nails dug into his hips and left crescent moons of blood behind. His hand fell away from your head and he watched lazily as his entire cock disappeared into your mouth and your hand slipped between your legs. Your fingers were slick as they circled your slit and gathered the warm cum leaking out to glide over your clit.
The muscles of his body tensed a moment before he moved, grabbing your arms and dragging you up onto his lap so he could see you pleasuring yourself. “Show me.”
You shamelessly teased yourself from his knees until your arousal was running down your thighs and over his leather trousers, his cock twitching at the sight. Needing to be filled more than your fingers could, you climbed higher and impaled yourself on his shaft.
His hands groped your ass, pinching and squeezing it before laying sharp slaps to the skin that drew delighted gasps from your lips as you rode him. His hair tangled in your hands and you tugged at the strands until his chest was heaving with his shaking breaths.
Your thighs burned from the quick pace you set as you chased your release but the growing warmth in your belly told you it wasn’t far away. The bead of sweat rolling down Aemond’s chest told you he was just as close and you dipped your head to taste the drop. It tasted of the sea he had flown across and the smoke of his dragon’s fire, it tasted wild and free.
Leaning back, you cried out at the sharp angle and rolled your hips to hit the spot again. You ran your hands down his legs until you reached his boot and returned with the short knife in your hand, soft trembles starting to rise up your body.
“Give me your hand.” There was no hesitation as he placed his hand on yours, his palm facing up. “Our wedding custom is far different to what you have in the Seven Kingdoms. We have the bloodletting.”
You dragged the blade across his palm and pressed the cut to yours, lacing your fingers together so the blood of your houses melded to one. You weren’t sure whether it was the pain or the union that unleashed the restraint he had held as you rode him but some animalistic part of him rose to the surface.
He locked your joined hands behind your back and held you in place as he fucked up into you, lifting your legs off the chair as he found the deepest wall within you and tried to break through. Heat flooded your body and you cried out as you came, your pussy clenching around him as your moisture soaked his lap. With a dark curse he collapsed against the chair and you shivered with each pulse of his release filling your cunt.
Sated and overstimulated, you fell against him, resting your head in the hollow of his neck until you could feel your limbs again.
“Ser Negan called you Kinslayer.”
“Yes, well I would hardly call the bastard son of my sister kin.” His lip curled at the thought. “Little Luke took a tumble from his dragon, in pieces. Mother was none too pleased but a war with Rhaenrya was inevitable, despite what she thought of her old friend.”
Your head fell back with a laugh as you sat up and Aemond’s hands gripped your hips enough to bruise as he growled, “Glad you can see the amusement in war.”
“Not at all, I am just glad that you will see your end before it is over.” You twirled the strands of his hair around your fingers as you stared into his pale blue eye. “Not even the gods can protect you from a mother’s vengeance. Rhaenyra will burn all of Westeros for what you did.”
You laughed again as he pushed you from his lap and tucked himself back into his damp trousers before standing. His usual smirk had fallen away as he stood at his full height and looked down at you. “And when my sister comes to take her payment, a son for a son, will you laugh then too?”
“You should have done your research, husband,” you murmured as you stroked the scar down his cheek, a smile teasing at your lips. “My mother’s line has never birthed a son.”

star crossed lovers au | connor bedard x kailey hughes au ↳ cat distribution system. ↳ blurb! (yes, i know these cats are not the same size. pls disregard lol) ↳ au masterlist!
word count: 646 warnings: none!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
connor could not believe it, and possibly a part of him did not want it to be true. not that he did not like cats, they just were not his favorite animal. he was quite partial to dogs. so when kailey and connor were taking a walk through the loop after a short study session at the depaul library, kailey knew she could not give up this chance encounter. "oh my god con, look!" she squealed as she kneeled, before putting her finger out for the small cat to sniff her. "i don't think you should do that." he said taking a step back. she rolled her eyes, but then smirked as the cat began to brush itself up against kailey. "hi baby." she cooed, and began to pet it. "step on it bedard, get your car." she said not looking up from the black cat. "what?" he questioned, squatting down to her level. she turned back towards him, "im gonna stay here. you go get your car so we can get to the vet." she explained as if it was not obvious. "wait why?!" he asked still confused. "because con, the cat distribution system that I've been waiting for to appear, has happened! i cant give this cat up. look!" she said looking down at the cat. the cat had now taken up her lap as a safe haven, and connor knew there would be no going back now. she was hooked, and godddamit- she was gonna keep that cat.
_
it was 3 hours later, with a $465 vet visit and connor getting scratched in the room behind them- the two finally settled in on kaileys bed. kailey and connor laid down cuddling together, while the new kitten - notably named crosby laid in front of them in a ball. "i cant believe it happened." she whispered, intently watching the cat's chest rise and fall. "do lukas and kev like cats?" she questioned, absentmindedly. "uh, i don't know. the topic has never come up." he teased, pressing his nose in the nook of her neck from behind. "what if i brought her over tomorrow?" she questioned, and connor smiled. "im sure they would love to meet her." he mused, which made kailey silently cheer. "oh shoot! i completely forgot to let my brothers know." she giggled, pulling out her phone to shoot off a text to their group chat, that the four of them had. not even a minute later, the three brothers were texting like madmen. asking when they could meet her, but at the same time insulting kailey that she got a kitten and not a puppy, and lastly, they wanted to know the name. to which, luke guessed correctly. "what is with crosby?" connor questioned after she put down her phone, and she giggled. then she would not stop giggling, until she realized that baby crosby might wake up, so she stopped quickly. though, connor thought it was all quite amusing.
"as a kid we met crosby before i had a real understanding of who he was, and then was i was like 13 i saw a picture of him and thought he was the hottest man to grace this earth." she said turning around to face connor. "and then i met him again right before jacks draft, and my brothers had to tease me relentlessly about it. completely made a fool of myself in front of him and I've never lived it down to this day." she said as her cheeks turned rosy, which connor found quite darling. "that's adorable." he teased, moving a small piece of hair behind her ear. she pushed two hands to her face to cover herself from embarrassment, "what? it is cute." he said pulling them from her face, and then slowly leaned down to kiss her. but, before he connected the two he teased her a bit more. "though ill be sure to remember that you found him attractive...the next time he's in town." he teased before kissing her.
that kiss didn't last long.

Okay so @green-tea217 requested that I share this fanfic based on this post that I made.
I never usually post my fanfics, but I’m feeling brave. This one isn’t finished, but I’ll post the first chapter ‘cause I’m really proud of it. I’m working on the other fanfics that were requested, but I’m posting this one first because I’ve worked rlly had on it.
Summary: Kind of an OC/FanChild fic about my hcs for Percabeth’s kids. VERY Leo/Nico heavy bc they’re my two favourite characters, particularly Leo.
TWs: Swearing, lack of smut (she is a teenager)
Disclaimers: I was still reading SoN when I wrote this chapter, and I am currently on HoH, so if I’ve missed anything that gets revealed later, that’s why. Also I listened to the audiobooks, so if I spell a name wrong, that’s also why, either that or I’ve spelt something the British way.
Chapter 1:
Olympia hated stories.
She hated telling them. She hated hearing them. She hated the way they were often twisted and bent to contain some kind of message. She hated the theatrics of sharing them around the fire, the hushed voices and dramatic tone. And she hated how every story she heard was almost always about her dad.
Olympia Grace Jackson-Chase.
Of course.
For as long as she can remember, people had told her stories about her parents. About her and her birth. How she had been born on Olympus. How Apollo himself had delivered her, and named her “Olympia Grace” so that it would rhyme with her last name. That wasn’t entirely true. “Grace” was the last name of her Auntie Thalia and Uncle Jason. She hated the stories about them too- about all her parents’ friends. They were myths and legends in the eyes of the other campers, to her they were just people who babysat her sometimes. The Cabin 9’ers had been shocked when she’d told them that the heroic son of Hephaestus who had saved the world from Gaea and her evil forces was actually just Little Uncle Leo, and the first Fire User in three and a half centuries isn’t very mythical and legendary when he’s running in from the kitchen, waving a tea-towel at the fire alarm and yelling “Oh shit, the guacamole’s on fire. I set the guacamole on fire. Don’t tell your mom.”
People never wanted to hear those stories. Only the exiting and dangerous ones.
“Percy Jackson fought the Minotaur when he was only ten years old!!!”
“Percy Jackson keeps insisting I tidy my room.”
Suffice it to say, she was sick of it.
“Dad,” she asked, approaching the kitchen table.
Perseus Jackson, the man, the myth, the legend himself, looked up from his comic book and ginned at her.
“What is it, dolphin?”
“Can you… like… not send me to camp this year?”
Her dad frowned, put The Amazing Spider-Man down on the table and leaned back in his chair.
“Why? What’s up? Are the other campers not nice to you there?”
“It’s not that… in fact, it’s the opposite. The attention is getting too much. I wanna learn to fight, but… I’d rather you just teach me yourself. You can show me how to use my water powers.”
“Oly, I know it’s hard, especially as you’re one of the first Legacies at Camp Half-Blood. I can absolutely arrange for you to not go anymore if you don’t want to… but there’s only so much I can teach you on my own, particularly with your mother’s workload. I want to make sure you’d be protected. Could you maybe give it a try, please?”
Olympia was pretty sure she’d been “giving it a try” for the last 14 summers, but she didn’t want to argue with her dad.
“Fine,” she said.
“That’s my girl,” he beamed, “Now, remember to pack your armour for Capture the Flag, I don’t want to have to drive out there and back just ‘cause you forgot it again.”
She sighed and left the room.
She just wished that he had stayed in the car when he’d dropped her off, but no. He insisted on walking with her to the Big House, saying hello to Chiron and generally being a huge embarrassment. It didn’t take long for the crowds of campers to form around them, whispering behind their hands. She hugged her dad, and said goodbye to him as quickly as she could.
She dumped her things in the Poseidon Cabin. She was allowed in both her mom and her dad’s old cabins, but she preferred to be alone to sleep. She did her activities with the Athena kids though, she didn’t want to stand out any more than she already did.
Olympia sat alone, perched on the edge of the Athena table, when suddenly a kid shuffled up next to her. She looked about twelve, with the same grey eyes of her mother.
“What’s your name?” The girl asked.
“Olympia Jackson-Chase,” Olympia sighed.
“I’ve noticed you doing cabin activities with us, but you don’t sleep with the other Athenians? What’s up with that?”
Olympia took a deep breath, and began to explain, “I’m a-“
“Wait. Jackson-Chase?” The kid gasped.
Oh, here we go, Olympia thought, preparing for the usual swooning and/or geeking out.
“Your mother was Annabeth Chase?”
Olympia was slightly taken aback, “Usually, people talk mostly about my father. I’m always “The daughter of Percy Jackson,” never “the daughter of Annabeth Chase.””
“Oh but she’s a legend! She re-designed Olympus! She led our cabin in battle against the Titans! She even held up the sky! I mean, I know your dad did that too, but-“
“She did it for longer. She was under that thing for over a day, he only held it for at most 20 minutes.”
The girl laughed.
“And, if you ask me, she was the one who did all the work when it came to defeating Kronos. Dad did jack shit, just handed a knife to a guy.”
“Exactly! Just because he was in the Prophecy-“
“Nah, it’s a lot simpler than that,” Olympia said, “It’s because he’s a man.”
They sat in silence for a bit.
She never blamed her dad for overshadowing her mom. He didn’t mean to. In fact, he openly hated the stories that didn’t recognise her for all she did. They were so in love, it was sickening.
“I can’t believe she’s, like, my sister.”
The girl gasped, and grabbed Olympia’s arm, “Wait, does that make me your aunt?”
Olympia shook her head, “Don’t bother with family trees, man, otherwise you get into the whole “my dad’s dad is my mom’s mom’s uncle, which makes me kinda my mom’s second cousin, and my dad her cousin-once-removed”- it’s just too much to get your head around.”
She looked directly into the girl’s grey eyes, “My advice, kid, believe whatever bullshit they tell you about the Gods not having DNA, and just try not to think about it.”
The girl’s face fell. “Oh.”
Then she looked exited again, “Did you come out of her tummy or her head like I did with my mom?”
And there we go, Olympia thought. Geez, they didn’t hesitate to ask the really invasive questions, did they?
She took her three-pronged fork out of her pocket, and fidgeted with it, twirling it in her fingers. Instantly, she realised her mistake.
“Why do you carry a fork around and never eat with it?” The girl asked. More questions.
Might at well get it over with, she thought.
“Gift from Grandpa,” she replied.
“A gift from Poseidon? What does it do?”
She sighed again, and dangled the fork over the girl’s glass of orange juice, and let go. It dropped into the glass with a satisfying plop, and then rose to the surface. No, it wasn’t rising. It was growing. It’s shaft elongated, and the prongs stretched to become longer and way more deadly. Intricate designs started carving itself into the metal. Olympia stood up, and grabbed the shaft of the fork just as it finished growing. A three-pronged death skewer of pure celestial bronze. A Trident.
The surrounding campers gaped at her, open-mouthed.
“Woah,” said one of the Hephaestus campers, clearly someone who hadn’t seen the spectacle before.
“OLYMPIA JACKSON-CHASE! NO WEAPONS AT THE DINNER TABLE! CAMP RULES! YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THAT!!”
“Sorry Chiron,” Olympia called. She twisted a little ring of metal around the shaft of the trident, and it shrank back into a fork. She sat back down.
“It responds to water,” she explained, “get it wet, and boom, Trident.”
She had named it Blue. It was her first word, after all. Or at least, that was the story. Poseidon had given it to her on her second birthday, and she had just looked at it, holding it in her tiny fist, and cried “bloooo!” It was probably just baby babbling, but Dad said it counted.
“So what’s Poseidon like? Do you have water powers too? Can you get me your mom’s autograph? Is your dad really 7ft tall?”
She ate the rest of her lunch in silence, only answering the onslaught of questions from the young camper when she had to.
Cabin 3 offered a pleasant respite from the crowds and the people. She dropped her armour and weapons from the day’s activites by the door and kicked off her shoes.
She looked at herself in the mirror.
Tumblr media
(Drawing of Olympia: Art by me)
Her curly black hair, which she’d dyed the tips of blonde, was pulled back into a messy ponytail. Around her neck hung a necklace of leather chord, fourteen different coloured beads threaded onto them, each painted with a different design. Her broad shoulders and thick muscles bulged through her plain navy-blue tank top. Her skin was tanned from spending long hours training in the sun. She had a battle-hardened look to her that meant people often mistook her for a daughter of Ares. But her eyes was what made her stand out most- one grey, like her mother, one green, like her father. Her parents had told her how her birth had ended the centuries-long feud between Poseidon and Athena for good, and she had been given those eyes as a way of symbolising that. Another story. It felt like every part of her body had been attached to a story about something her parents had done. Why couldn’t she just be herself? She had spent 16 years living under the shadow of her parents, she was homeschooled from an early age, and had been going to camp since before she could even hold a sword- the demigod life was all she’d ever known. Someday, she’d get away from it all. She’d sink to the bottom of the Mariana Trench and just study the fish, and she wouldn’t have to worry about people or monsters
Suddenly, she felt something tap her on her shoulder. Quick as lightning, she grabbed Blue and spun around. Blue, still in fork form, was about a centimetre away from the neck of her intruder, who held up his hands in surrender.
“Whoah there!” He said.
When she saw who it was, she lowered the weapon and pulled him into a tight hug.
“Leo!” She cried.
“Hey, how’s my favourite cousin? Or… whatever.”
She looked at him and smiled. Despite him being old enough to be her dad, he was about half her size. With a thin, wiry frame and very little meat on his bones. His wild, curly brown hair framed his pointed face and elfish features. His dark skin was covered in a thin layer of motor oil and grime of unknown origin. He tapped her cheek affectionately, leaving a grubby handprint on her face. He walked over to her bed and leaped onto the top bunk, his legs dangling off the ladder.
“You need to stop growing,” he instructed, “You are getting too big, it’s not fair.”
“You need to stop being so short,” Olympia retorted, then her face broke into a huge smile, “I feel like I never see you anymore!”
“I know, you’re too old for me to babysit now, kiddo,” He complained.
“Well that always ended in disaster anyway. There’s still burn marks on that wall.”
“Did your mom find out?” He asked.
“Nope. Dad told her he just wanted to hang more pictures up. And then he went on a long speech about how nice she looked in that wedding photo, and then took her out for ice cream. I think she bought it.”
“Good.”
They stayed in comfortable silence for a few seconds, and then she asked, “So… it’s great that you’re here and all, but… why are you here?”
“What, I can’t come and visit my favourite partner in crime every now and then?”
“Leo…” Her tone was firm.
Leo’s face was suddenly dark and serious, he paused before speaking, but said, “I think I have news about your brother.”
That was Chapter 1- if this post gets… let’s say… 30 notes, I’ll post Chapter 2.

hai! I saw ur post abt Grace headcanons, and I just wanted to ask about her and her connection to Blinky
Hi anon! Here’s an unintentionally kind of long elaboration about my headcanon for Grace being connected to the Lords in Black for much longer than we see in canon! This is like a mix of headcanons as well as overanalyzing things in canon under the context of these hcs!
Also, funny story, I fully misinterpreted this ask the first time that I read it and thought that you were asking for headcanons of Grace’s dynamic with Blinky so I ended up writing a ton of those before I realized that you were talking specifically about a point from my last hc post! With that being said, I’ll also be posting those headcanons after this as a bit of a bonus so that they don’t go to waste!
Quick reiteration of the hc that this is based on and also another point that inspired this:
I like to think that Grace has been connected to the LIB since long before we see her, Steph, and Pete summon them in NPMD. Like Lex was once connected to Webby but forgot as she got older, Grace was friends with the Lords in Black when she was a child but she lost that memory as she grew up.
This point was mostly inspired by Blinky’s line about having been watching Grace and the fact that Grace is implied to have the gift since she had a vision of Max killing Richie.
The other point that inspired this was that in the NPMD talkback, they answered a question that essentially asked if Grace was the anti-christ and if I recall correctly, they never gave a definitive ‘yes’ or ‘no’ so that spiralled into the idea that Grace is essentially the anti-Hannah of the Hatchetfield universe.
Basically, if Hannah is connected to Webby and in the simplest of terms is meant to use her abilities to save Hatchetfield, Grace is connected to the Lords in Black and is meant to destroy it.
Onto connection hcs now!
- The Lords introduced themselves to Grace when she was a very young girl. They told her that they were guardian angels sent by God to protect her which allowed them to gain her trust and more easily persuade her under the guise of holy intentions. They were playing the long con so they couldn’t be antagonistic at this point. First, they had to convince her that they were there to help.
Tinky made sure she was never late to school, Blinky kept an eye out for her when she was crossing the road, Wiggly helped her stand up to her bullies, Nibbly reminded her not to forget her lunch bag, Pokey made sure she remembered the lyrics for her choir performances at church, etc.
- Through establishing this trust with Grace, they were able to take the opportunity of being around her during her crucial developmental years to instill their values/views on things like violence and death in her. This is why things like lying to the police or selling drugs are bad in her mind while dismembering a body is not!
This is also how Grace picks up the habit of using the same nick-naming conventions as the Lords in Black do. The LIB very often refer to people as “name-ie/y” like Stephie, Gracie, etc. and similarly, in Bury the Bully, Grace is shown to do the same thing: “Petey, get the acid, Ruthie, you can grab the hatchet, and Stephie, tapes!” This bit of influence remained with her even after she forgot about the LIB.
- As she got older, likely around the age that she was approaching Middle School, the Lord’s methods changed since she was too old for ‘imaginary friends’ now. They slowly stopped talking to her outright and let her forget them so that they could begin strengthening their connection even further. Rather than talking to her as external beings, they essentially merged themselves and their voices in with her subconscious thoughts to the point that Grace isn’t even really aware that these thoughts aren’t truly her own. They’re still with her and arguably closer than ever before but to her, they were nothing more than imaginary friends that, eventually, she’ll forget all together.
Notably, during this time of perceived distance, Blinky keeps an especially watchful and vigilant eye on Grace, learning the things that matter to her most and waiting for the right time for them to reenter her life officially.
Little analysis/theory thing of mostly canon that I like to use to support this hc :3 (I’m aware this doesn’t work perfectly but it’s fun to me!)
(someone on this site has definitely said something similar about the Dirty Girl lighting before so I at least know I’m not the only one thinking this way lol)
The lighting in this show is really deliberate a lot of the time and I think that the colours used in Dirty Girl especially are very specific! In that scene, the lighting is pink and purple which I like to interpret as being a sign of Blinky and Nibbly’s influence on Grace. We know from the later line in the summoning that Blinky has been watching Grace and I think that this lighting here says that he is watching her now. (Similarly, when Steph and Pete have the purple lighting during If I Loved You, he is watching them then, which is how the LIB know what Steph cherishes most.)
Then with Nibbly, he’s all about hunger and desire so if his lighting is there, I like to think that his influence is what’s making Grace have this dream. He’s known Grace for her whole life; he knows that having sexual desire is one of the worst things that she can think of doing, so it becomes the perfect tool to make her snap. The LIB need her to be in a state of distress and separation from her faith so that she’s pliable to their will and they know that this will get her there. Nibbly’s influence here is the first step in the second phase of their plan to recruit Grace as their conduit (the first being to meet her when she’s young and input their values in her).
Similarly, the lighting while they act out Grace’s plan at the Waylon Place is all blue, and when you think about how Grace’s idea was largely centered around putting on a performance for Max it’s interesting to consider that Pokey may have been the one to put that idea in Grace’s head. Pokey, knowing that the Waylon Place was structurally unsound, wanted ‘Grace’s’ plan to fail or more accurately, he wanted his plan to go exactly as he intended. The nerds killing Max is just another push for Grace toward being open to their intervention.
Grace also mentions to Steph that she hasn’t been thinking clearly lately after the Beanies scene which I like to think is because the LIB have gotten louder in her head. Again, she’s used to their quiet influencing of her and believes that their voices are truly her own thoughts so when they’ve pushed her this far already, they take her vulnerable state as a chance to get a bit more vocal and demanding. In response, Grace interprets that chaos as just not being able to think clearly because for the first time, it is not her own thoughts that are most prominent in her head.
By the time Grace summons them with Steph and Pete, they’ve already gotten her exactly where they want her. She’s given in to sexual desires and she’s gone against her morals, thus she’s in the perfect place for them to start the final phase of their plan.
First, reveal themselves to her. Attack her connection to her faith and sever her from her moral guide. This way she’ll be desperate for something new to guide her in the absence of what she has always held central to her character.
(slight interruption bc I didn't know where to put this otherwise vv)
I think it’s interesting in the summoning scene that Grace’s “oh!”s during the beginning of the song sound different from Pete and Steph’s. To me, the sound she’s making as well as her facial expressions (right before the Lords appear, she squeezes her eyes shut tightly and tucks her head against her chest in a grimace-like expression) almost give the impression that she is in pain. In the context of my reading, I think that the LIB taking a physical form and essentially detaching themselves from Grace’s mind was a painful sensation for her.
Second, use her friends and her nature against her to get her to give up her chastity: the final connection that Grace has to her faith and the very thing that gives her a sense of self/identity. They need her to be hopeless and lost if they want her to submit to them.
Grace might be morally corrupt, but she is self-sacrificing and they know that, they’ve seen the Abstinence Camp timeline and watched her throw herself in front of an axe to protect Steph and Pete. The LIB’s deal to get rid of Max was never truly about getting what Grace, Steph, or Pete cherished most; it was about breaking Grace. They always knew that she would be the one to give something up in the end, they just had to make sure it was her chastity and that her friends would be at risk if she wasn’t the one to make the sacrifice.
In doing this, they can now reenter her life and influence her uninhibited by the previous objections of her faith. They have at their fingertips a sheltered teenage girl, that’s desperate for guidance and full of unchecked rage and potential power who they’ve primed to be moulded into whatever they like as long as they present themselves as all that she has left and they have succeeded in doing that.
Following this would be mostly canon activities with Grace being fully under their influence and on her crusade against dirty dudes!
(And in my head I’m gonna make it a little sad because this girl gave up the most important thing to her and everyone perceives it as silly because Steph and Pete’s were another person which is way bigger of a deal in comparison, but it still makes me sad that she didn’t get to chose having her first time!! It was something she had to do without getting to decide if she was ready and that hurts my heart. Now she’s just a lost kid who has been constantly having people tell her what to think and how to act and she’s found possibly the worst people to follow because she’s desperate and doesn’t know how to exist if she’s not worshipping someone else. Someone just give her a hug and tell her that she’s allowed to fuck up every once in a while, PLEASE!)
Okay, that’s all for now! This was really long and rambly so I hope that it made sense!! If anything I said needs clarifying/further elaboration feel free to let me know/ask and I can rephrase/add-on! :3
Thank you for the ask anon!!

Part 2: Fear is the nightmare I had you were with someone else you forgot about me
You could lie to yourself. You could disguise your narcissism as some kind of altruism. You could tell yourself that the apparent indifference you wanted to lead on with Mason was as much to protect yourself as it was to protect him.
But you know this wasn’t the case.
The impending, and inevitable, doom of your trip back home reminding you that you’re in no position to entertain his advances.
When you arrive home at 4 am, Mabel and you exchange a wordless agreement to head straight to bed without discussing your respective nights, for now at least. You knew that once she saw you sober, however, her relentless interrogation would commence.
Mabel was by nature a curious and inquisitive person, especially when it came to her friends’ love lives. So, you’re surprised when she doesn’t pester you with questions about your endeavours with Mason, knowing she won’t see you for a while.
As you had later found out, however, she had simply forgotten that you were leaving the city the very next morning.
However, you’re grateful that she had overlooked that detail in the midst of late-night fatigue. You’re grateful that the conversation can be delayed until you come back to London.
Enough time to gather your thoughts and plan out your next move.
You head straight to bed, not bothering to take off your makeup and changing into the oversized tee you can find.
Before closing your eyes, you open your instagram to see if you had a follow request or DM from Mason.
But you didn’t.
Sure, you had never given him your last name or expected him to follow you, but that wasn’t an excuse for his lack of effort. He could have easily found you through Ben’s following list, for instance.
Who, unlike him, had bothered to ask for your socials at one point during the night that you had managed to escape Mason’s tight grip on you.
You couldn’t help but think that if he truly wanted to kiss you, as much as he had led on, he would have found you. Planned out his next move.

After just over a week later, you find yourself back in London.
The Christmas break, though disappointingly short, had provided a welcome respite that allowed you to spend quality time with family and friends back home. Although you lived a short train ride away from your hometown, you didn’t go back as often as you’d liked. You had tried for the first few years of uni to visit every other week, at least. However, the demands of academia, along with your part time job at your local bar, were draining, sometimes grueling, and often downright exhausting.
This constant juggling act took a toll on you, and it was a reason you broke up with your ex, Luka. Who, against your better judgment, you had seen often during your visit.
Sure, it was immature to return to him, but it was also safe. Being with him was bittersweet, nostalgic, and familiar. Being with him and revisiting old memories was easy.
In contrast, ‘things’ with Mason (if you could even call it that) were anything but easy. Surely, it was only the alcohol speaking that night, and he hadn’t meant any of the things he had said to you.
Even when you had tried to distract yourself with Luka’s, when his skin was under yours, Mason had occupied the better half of your thoughts. And that’s putting it conservatively. You spent the whole week racking your brain, trying to figure out why he hadn’t as much as tried to contact you. You wondered if, when he’s on his third glass of whiskey,  it sounded like desire telling him you missed him.
According to a few texts you got from Mabel that week, he had asked about you the times they had seen each other at Ben’s. You weren’t sure if she had said that because she knew, without you even telling her, how much of an imprint he had made on you, or if it was actually true. Yet if it was true, he had never bothered to reach out to you directly. You found this cowardly, to be frank. He could have easily asked her for your number, but he didn’t.
You hadn’t yet disclosed the details of your night with Mason or your brief reunion with Luka to her, though you suspected that she knew about the latter from what you had posted on your close friends’ stories.
It’s past 6:40 pm when you hear Mabel and Ben walk through the door of your shared flat while you’re scrolling through Netflix.
As soon as she catches sight of you sitting on the couch, she squeals with excitement and rushes over to embrace you in a warm hug.
“I’ve missed you soo much!” she exclaims.
“I’ve missed you too, what have you been up to?”
“Same old, same old,” she replies with a shrug, gesturing towards Ben. “Just hanging out wit him, going to work.”
He flashes a friendly smile at the two of you before returning his attention to his phone.
“And don’t think I’ve forgotten about a certain talk we need to have,” she whispers in your ear.
“I have to go, but I’ll swing by and pick you both up around 10?” Ben announces, leaning in to kiss Mabel’s cheek before giving you a friendly wave and walking out.
“What does he mean by that?” you ask.
“We’re going out with him and some of his friends for New Year’s,” she explains, “it’ll be fun, so don’t try to fight it. And yes he’ll be there, so dress slutty.”
She turns on her speaker before putting on her “Getting ready” playlist and pours two glasses of wine, before she finally speaks up again.
“So spill it,” she says passing you a glass. “What happened between the two of you?”
She wasn’t dumb, she left the question ambiguous on purpose.
“Mason or Luka?” you ask quietly, your voice low with embarrassment as you finally admit that you’ve seen your ex.
She rolls her eyes. “Let’s start with Mason. But we’ll talk about the other one later,” she adds, knowing all too welo how this usually goes.
At this point, she didn’t bother giving you lectures when you left London. She knew that it always lead to him in your hometown.
You sigh. “With Mase… Honestly, not much,” you admit. “We just talked all night. He told me about his family, told me some of his dreams for the future.”
She raises an eyebrow. “That’s it?”
“Yeah pretty much,” you confirm.
But you don’t tell her about the way his words made you feel. You don’t tell her about the way his words flowed like honey, and how carefully chosen and crafted they felt. You don’t tell her about the way he made you feel like the only person in the room, or about the fact that he told you that he had “never met someone as beautiful or fun as you.” You don’t tell her about the way that you had almost believed him.
You don’t tell her about the way you had teased him all night, purposefully batting your eyelashes at him and making suggestive comments everytime he took a sip of his drink. You don’t tell her about the way he’s hanging on to every syllable you say. You don’t tell her about the way your defenses almost melted away. Almost.
You also don’t tell her that for every sweet lie he told you, you told him three.
“I mean,” you add, feeling like you need to defend yourself, “we didn’t even kiss. So I don’t even think he’s interested.”
You weren’t lying, maybe omitting part of the story, but not blatantly lying.
She just nods, unconvincingly.

As you’re finishing getting ready in your room, Mabel bursts in, telling you that Ben had finally arrived. You sneak a peak at yourself in the mirror, liking the way the black dress you’ve chosen clings onto your every curve, applying a bold red lipstick, one you never felt confident enough to wear. Something about thinking of the game you’re about to play with Mason, giving you that boost of confidence.
It’s like playing chess. You enjoy the thrill of carefully planning each move and anticipating his next one. A battle of wits and strategy, where you try and stay one step ahead of him, and analyze his potential move.
Before leaving, you reach for his sunglasses. The ones he had left you with the last time you were together.

When you finally get to the club, you walk into the VIP area and see some of the familiar faces from last time.
You exchange brief greetings with everyone, but can’t help feeling disappointed when Mason barely acknowledges you with a nod. Your heart sinks. You have even planned out a whole thing where you’d give him his sunglasses back - in exchange for a secret. But he’s not interested in you that night.
Unlike his tough exterior, you’re a mess when you see him. You immediately smile at him, admiring how incredibly good he looks in his black jeans and white shirt. Yet he barely even looks at you. Seemingly more interested in the girl talking to him to his right.
You’re dumbfounded. You had played out countless scenarios of how seeing him again would play out, and none of them included him acting like a stranger. You had planned out your moves, anticipating what his would be tonight. But this one caught you off guard. All the strategies you had in mind for the night suddenly seem useless, and a wave of fear washes over you as you think about your nightmare scenario playing out in front of you.
The one in which he was with someone else he had forgotten about you
You try not to let it get to you. You want to give him the benefit of the doubt. He’s just busy catching up with friends, it’s fine, you try to tell yourself.
However, your fear is intensified when you see him dancing, dangerously close, with yet another girl. It seemed that he was interested in anyone and everyone but you. All while you sat and stared, sitting in the booth all alone. Mabel had offered to stay with you, but you had urged her to have fun. You wouldn’t let your mood ruin her night, too.
You’re pulled from your thoughts as someone sits beside. You must look miserable right now, so you’re surprised when you hear an distinctly American voice say,  “I don’t think we’ve met. I’m Christian.” You take a look at him. He’s cute, tall, and has nice eyes. But he’s not your type.
Still, you decide that you won’t let this night go to waste, and you might as well entertain his company.
He seems like a nice guy, and you don’t want to be rude. You introduce yourself and engage in meaningless small talk. You only have surface levels things in common, but his company is nice nonetheless. You even find yourself laughing at some of his jokes. Even if just for a while, you have someone to take your mind off whatever sick game Mason was playing.
“Do you want to dance,” Christian asks you after he had gotten you a drink.
You hesitate for a moment, but you decide to go for it anyway. You follow him to the dance floor, letting yourself get lost in the moment.
You don’t notice that you were standing directly beside Mason and whoever, a different girl from the one you had seen him with minutes ago, was.
As much as you try to forget about Mason’s cold attitude towards you, being this close to him, was obviously not helping. You dare to glance up at him for the first time since you’d walked into the club, and you notice he’s already staring at you, shooting daggers with his eyes.
It’s as if he’s silently challenging you, daring you to continue dancing with Christian. You decide to play along and engage in an intense staring battle with him. The same way you felt the same heat between the two of you that you felt when you were sitting on his lap over a week ago. Except this time, he didn’t even need to physically hold you.
So you move closer to Christian, your gaze never leaving Mason’s. He responds the same way, stepping closer to the girl he’s with and maintaining his unwavering stare.
He’s enjoying this as much as you are. The song comes to an abrupt stop, as the DJ announces that there’s 10 minutes left until midnight, and you finally break eye contact. You smirk at each other, knowing that the battle is far from over.
“You mind grabbing me another drink and meeting me at the booth?” you ask Christian.
He happily nods before excusing himself.
You walk back to the booth, engaging in pleasant small talk. Seemingly, everyone had made their way back in time for the countdown. Everyone except Mason.
You sit beside a gorgeous girl, who immediately introduces herself.
“Hey, I’m Sophia. I don’t think we’ve met.”
“Hi, I’m Y/N. Nice to meet you.”
“Likewise. So you were at Ben’s party right? I saw you getting cozy with Mason.”
“Oh, um, yeah. We were just getting to know each other, I guess.”
“And tonight, you’re with Christian…” you nod before she continues, “so are you seeing both of them or are you just having fun.”
Her tone is curious and friendly, not judgemental or accusatory.
“Oh no,” you laugh, “there’s nothing between me and Christian. Super nice guy, but just not my type.”
“I figured as much,” she interjects.
“As for Mason, not really sure where we stand. We had a good time at Ben’s, but he hasn’t really shown much interested since then. I guess I’m just trying to have a good time tonight and not think too much about it.” You explain to her.
She nods, understandingly, “I’ve known him for a few years, I’ve never seen him be as publicly into a girl as he was with you.”
You laugh, unsure about how to feel about the whole situation.
“Seems plenty interested in those other girls tonight. Probably the drinks got to him, I suppose,” you say with uncertainty.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that yet. Anyway, I’m always down for more friends in London, though. So, if you even want to chat, put your number in,” she says as she hands you her phone before sending you a text with her name and a smiley face.
Finally, Christian walks back to you and hands you the drink. He leans in to whisper in your ear, “So, my mates told me about you and Mase. I had a feeling anyway we weren’t that interested, but I for sure won’t try anything now.”
You give him an appreciative smile before he continues, “but if you’re trying to make him jealous. And I’m not judging you if you are, I’ve done the same before. He came up to me and said and-I-quote ‘what do you think you’re doing,’ so I think it’s working.”
“You know what would really sell it?” you tell him.
“Mhm?”
“If we go out onto the balcony for the countdown,” you answer, a mischievous smile playing on your smiles, looking up at him.
He chuckles but agrees nonetheless, hand in yours as he leads you there.
You try not to look back, but you’re almost certain Mason is watching you.
Checkmate.
As the countdown ends, you and Christian toast to the new year and he pulls you into a warm embrace. You feel happy in his arm, and you’re glad you don’t feel the guilt of leading him on you previously felt.
After a few minutes of silence, as you’re looking out onto the city, Christian speaks up.
“So… what are you two playing at? You clearly like each other” he asks, referring to your relationship with Mason.
You take a deep breath and confess, “Honestly, I’m not sure if we do. Maybe we like the case. But I’m still kind of seeing my ex anyway, so it’s probably for the best if... I don’t know, don’t start anything serious, I guess.”
“Sounds dangerous, but I hope you two know what you’re doing.”
After spending the past twenty minutes getting to know Christian, you decide you’re going to call it a night. If you were honest with yourself, you had only agreed to come because you heard that Mason was going to be there. And you had grown bored at the lack of attention he was giving you. You shoot a text to Mabel quickly before saying a quick goodbye to everyone that was still in the booth.
"Leaving so early?" you hear Mason call behind you with a laugh.
You hadn’t even noticed he had followed you out.
"Yeah, have a headache and I have to work in the afternoon tomorrow. Figured I should get some rest," you say him nonchalantly without looking back at him.
"Come on, I have a game tomorrow. I didn't drink, I'll drive you."
"No it's fine, I already ordered the uber."
"Don't be silly," he insists, "I'll take you."
You reluctantly accept, knowing you weren’t in the mood to put up a fight.
He hands you his phone with the Maps app open and you quickly type your address.
"So, what have you been up to?" he asks as you enter his car.
Hoping I'd see you again.
"Not much, enjoying my time off from uni. Spent Christmas back home with my family, you?"
"Spending time with my friends and family too. It's been nice." he flashes you a smile for the first time that night.
I know. I saw your Instagram.
A few minutes passed, only the light sound of his music playing in the silence.
“You looked cozy with those girls on the dancefloor, did you make any of them your New Years kiss?” you finally broke the silence.
“Not jealous are we, Y/N?”
You don’t look back at him, but you can hear the smile in his voice.
“Nope, just curious…” you say as he pulls up to your flat.
“I don’t kiss and tell.”
Of course he’d say that.
“Plus, you looked like you were in great company too.”
“Not jealous are we, Mount?”
“I have no reason to be, now do I?”
Because you and I are not anything? Or because you know Christian is not actually a threat? You almost voice aloud.
“Nope.”
Being this close to him, you forget about the night you spent ignoring each other. The electricity you felt the first time being ever-so-present in his car. You can’t help but feel the desire that’s been plaguing you for the past week.
As you finally pull up to your building and his car comes to a halt.
“Have a good night, lover girl.” he places a kiss on your cheek. One that lasts longer than a friendly kiss should.
So before you walk out, something in you urges you to take the lead and do the thing you’ve both been wanting to do. Every drink you had had that night, sounding like desire, telling you that he had missed you. So before you can overthink, or before you overanalyze your next move for too long, you do it. You move your face towards his and close the gap between the two of you. His soft lips against yours overwhelming your senses, getting lost in the way his lips moved against yours. The rhythm of the kiss isn’t rushed, but it’s definitely needy.
You finally break apart, and he looks into your eyes, “By the way, your no-kissing theory. Total bullshit. That was totally better than whatever it was we did last time,” he tells you.
“Happy New Year, Mason,” you disappear.
If passion was a passing thing, and if lust was a short-lived fire, then you know you want to capitalize on this moment.
