Soooooo~... Tomorrow's Memorial Day and I actually had this piece finished beforehand! I thought I should leave this piece a day early. Again, I've never really watched the old Donkey Kong animated series, but just like I made a custom take on Kaptain Skurvy, I wanted to make a custom take on General Klump! I felt Klump would be a great thing to draw for Memorial Day, as well as to pay tribute to all of our troops in the US Army and my late grandfather who was a war veteran. The friendship dynamic between Klump and Dixie Kong was actually very heartwarming even though they had to spend the rest of the series separated after K. Rool readmitted him under his rule. I'd like to think Klump and Dixie still hang out with each other in secret. Maybe they'd even form an uncle-and-niece relationship! I might consider building up on this in the future with some short sketch dumps and one-shots. For Memorial day.

I was going through pictures from your mother; sometimes I lurk on her page to feel like I'm still part of the family. She says she's going to call for my birthday, and I hope she forgets so I can hold it against her. But that's not what I wanted to say: I mean, do you remember the last time you were home? You were home Memorial day weekend for my 8th birthday. I turned 25 today.

It's hard looking at the pictures of you like you were a family man.

You would have hated the way I turned out; guess your mother was right and I was never truly your little girl. But, I like to think that some things I've done would have made you proud.

I mean, everything about my memory of you is military. I tell people all the time that you were a Marine, then a Soldier. You were the epitome of reason for my brothers and I to join the service.

I was looking through pictures of your deployment for no other reason than to see you in your best element.

But I stumbled across one that hurt the most.

You took this picture the day you died; the smile on your face is so genuine. The look in your eye is so unconcerned. If you only knew how much your family would miss you.
