Has Tom’s personality changed? I’ve been getting some weird vibes. I adore the guy and have for the past decade but there’s just something odd about him lately.

He was VERY excitable, giddy and outspoken back in his early days of fame and it even came out to be such on some of his Twitter exchanges with his fans.

I don’t blame him for guarding himself more and I think he was lost for a while post Ragnarok as a could see a grave depression in his eyes. He gave off the vibe that something ‘terrible’ had happened to him but we’ll probably never know. There were rumours that his address was doxxed and that people went to his house in outrage over the ‘Loki’ show. Fans harass people for the most ridiculous reasons. Especially these days. His partner and co-stars have also been harassed quite relentlessly. 😪

He seems more subdued and withdrawn maybe because of media training, coaching, therapy, mental health reasons or he just put a wall up because of all the harassment. I miss his fun side but luckily it comes out every now and then. 😊 The harshness of Hollywood can definitely change some people more than others.

I think his issues also caused a dip in his acting because he wasn’t up to par in the ‘Essex Serpent’ or ‘Loki.’ He was even looking quite unhealthy in the second season of Loki. Goodness knows what’s going on with him but now that he’s found a partner and some more friends he seems brighter sometimes. But I’m still sensing something a bit ‘off’ with him. I just can’t put my finger on it. I hope he’s all well. The younger Tom seemed like a completely different person and I know that people mature but I just miss his more carefree nature. I still see it in the pics where he’s playing football or being around friends so he might have some insecurity problems. These are obviously just guesses though. I just hope he’s his goofy self with his kid! 😁

Zawe Ashton got some firsthand Marvel insight when she signed on to play the villain in The Marvels.

Known for films like Velvet Buzzsaw and Mr. Malcolm's List, the British actress is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kree revolutionary Dar-Benn, facing off against Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani. In EW's new cover story on The Marvels, Ashton explains that she had long hoped to work with director Nia DaCosta and jumped at the chance to suit up as a supervillain.

While preparing for the role, Ashton got some advice from another Marvel villain: her fiancé Tom Hiddleston, who's played trickster god Loki since 2011.

"It led to some incredible conversations about his experience being part of this franchise for over a decade," Ashton, 38, tells EW in an interview conducted prior to the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike. "One of the main takeaways from our conversations was: 'What you put into Marvel, you get back.' He said, 'If you go into this with an open heart and a great work ethic and just want to provide an amazing experience for the fans, you'll have an amazing experience on those sets.' He really empowered me in that way."

Ashton says she and Hiddleston often try to keep their work lives separate, but she remembers one particularly fun day when he helped her rehearse a Marvels scene. Afterward, they looked under their kitchen table to see their confused dog, wondering why two terrifying Marvel villains were loudly running lines above him.

Plus, Ashton adds, Hiddleston had some additional pointers for when she got to set.

"He also had some very good practical advice, which was: Make sure you have enough zippers to go to the bathroom in your costume," she says with a laugh. "Which is very good advice, I realize now."

Ashton stars in The Marvels as Dar-Benn, a Kree leader fighting to restore her home after a lengthy civil war. (It's a new, expanded take on the character, who has a minor role in the comics and was originally written as a man.) Ashton trained for weeks, learning to properly wield Dar-Benn's imposing war hammer, and in the film, she clashes with Larson's Captain Marvel, Parris' Monica Rambeau, and Vellani's Ms. Marvel.

"It's this all-female sci-fi extravaganza, with a woman on the other side of the camera," Ashton adds. "I felt very moved, actually, being involved in it. It's not an environment you're often in — a huge-budget movie with all these badass women and Samuel L. Jackson. That just doesn't happen."

Hiddleston will end up being known for only two things in his career. His attrociously faked "relationship" with Taylor Swift and Loki.

The sad part of the story is he really had the chance of his life to be the lead actor in The night manager but totally crushed his chances of being taken seriously by accepting this international fuck up stunt with tayto. It made him go from serious guy to castrated lapdog. He shot himself in the foot.

He was Loki since 2011, 12 years of seeing his character to go from Thor's equal to second role, dramatic heartbreaking death that can be reversed as he's a trickster. Still, he has his own two seasons serie but it came way too late. Playing the same (Disney) character for 12 years might be a great financial move but it surely lock the actor in one an only role. Hiddles has a huge potential, I saw him on stage and he was really really good. The problem is he chose the big franchise over the more artistic part of acting. He should take a break from big films, be in a play or two and stop the conventions where people come to see him wearing his horns. The thing is, does he want that? He's aging so fast (I stumbled on a photo on my timeline and I thought I recognised his forehead and the photo was Benedict!) so he might chose easy fast disney money for 20 years over more interesting projects like Crimson peak or even indie films better for the variety but maybe paid less? I just feel like he lost this passion he had when he was younger.

(Sorry, it's a long message)

I get it and thought the same, that a change of pace might be good. We also have to be honest about something. There is a reason why his character and Thor are still used, even as most of Thor's films are hit and miss. SOMEONE wants the Nordic God stories to continue, whether the rest of us are over it or not. We can't dismiss the possibility that Tom may be stuck. Just depends on who his reps are.

I don't wanna be rude or anything, but can I just take a moment to... talk about the costume and makeup department for the show? I mean, Hiddles is a cutie no matter the situation or setting, but there's just something about the makeup that makes them look... Idk, older? I know he's not as young as he was in 2011 or in 2012, but for some reason his forehead seems weirdly wrinkled? I mean, I've seen recent pictures of him, and while Hiddles does have a few wrinkles it almost seemed exaggerated in the show? There's also the matter of the hair which... maybe their trying to go for an Agent of Asgard look? But coming off of 2012 it just looks way too short and way too curly. Straight up looks like George Washington hair in some shots. I honestly don't care for Sylvie at all, but the least you can do is dye her hair black? That or make it clear whether or not that she's an Amora variant, but that's besides the point I'm getting at.

Moving onto the costume department... it feels sorta like a mixed bag for me. I actually kinda like Sylvie's outfit? Didn't care for the black cloak in the beginning, could maybe use a green cape, but overall it doesn't totally compliment the actress nor the makeup. The TVA makes sense with their outfits? I won't complain about them, though it would've been cool if Ravona and Mobius got outfit changes towards the end to signify the changes they'd put in since the start. Loki, above all, is the worst offender imho. The business attire was okay for maybe one or two episodes, but after that it just became gross, and weirdly fitting. I've seen concept art that originally showed Loki wearing an outfit similar to what Sylvie wore which I feel would've been perfect... But it got scrapped. And the other Loki's? I liked classic Loki well enough, but I was honestly too distracted by the fact that he and all the other Variants looked like they were wearing things from Spirit Halloween. Okay, don't give Classic Loki a muscle suit, that makes sense, but don't make it look like the costume department had a budget of 10$ and a rusty penny, my god.

As far as Kang goes... I'm not even gonna make a comment regarding them. I hate the character so much for how passive aggressive/arrogant/incel-like they are I don't even have words to describe how much I hate them. It's the same deal with Thanos, their ideas are completely nonsensical and the smug arrogance makes me want to gouge their eyes out with my thumbs. Thanos at least had power to back up his bluster, but Kang? He's just a tiny incel fuckboy who relies too heavily on his tempad and is completely powerless when it ceases to function. I hate Sylvie with a passion, but if I was in her shoes Kang would not have gone out as quick as he did, nor as pretty.

... that's my 2¢, anyway. Take of it as you will. I'd honestly better stop before I get too pissed off, I've been having an alright day this far.

you're not wrong about the costuming and makeup. i've done a few other posts about it... comparing seriesLOKI promo pictures to avengersLOKI promo pictures; discussing serious lighting issues in the mongolia desert scene (TWO SUNS, ANYONE?), talking about his hair...

and as the very recent press photos of tom at the essex serpent premieres demonstrate, he still looks fucking gorgeous and vibrant and youthful. what they did to him in the series was nothing less than character assassination in every sense of the word.

as a photographer with an obsession for continuity and detail, stuff like that has really bothered me. it makes the whole thing reek of "IDGAF" and LOKI deserved better.

also classicLOKI should have got his muscle suit; richard was so crestfallen over that. who would it have hurt? but they wanted to mock and belittle everyone called LOKI. make them seem foolish, useless, stupid, irrelevant, untrustworthy, weak, cruel.
