Headcanons (Making an Impression)

Notes: Hi anon, thanks for the ask! No need to apologise at all, easy mistake to make and no harm done, you're absolutely fine!

Content Warnings: how many brothers does it take to court someone? Two (2). The answer is two; Barok is doing his best, Klint's trying too; shy guy being brave; awkward but good boi

The first Klint learns of this, is the sight of his brother looking rather morose as he sits in the gardens of their home while zoning out in front of the fountain. It's as if the young man has the woes of the world weighing upon his shoulders.

"What ever is the matter, Barok?" he asks as he plops down to sit beside his little brother and pat his back, "You look so glum."

Barok hesitates for a moment, clearly debating whether to tell Klint; but in the end he decides to do so: "I've... become rather smitten with someone but they have a great many people vying for their hand. I have no idea how to approach them. I don't want them to think me shallow, I'm not interested in their fortune or their status, it's just that they've captured my attentions, I can't seem to stop thinking about them. Yet, at the same time, I think it's arrogant of me to even think I'd have a chance. I just don't know what to do about this."

Klint listens quietly, before smiling fondly and ruffling Barok's hair, "Oh come now! You are a handsome and charming young man, Barok! Even if you're smitten with this person, they'd be equally lucky to have such an attractive and intelligent young man for their partner! Don't you ever forget that. Now, courting is a daunting sport I'll grant you, but it's nothing that we cannot overcome! Allow me to give you advice on how to court, I'm sure you'll make the perfect impression!"

"Oh..." Barok smiles gratefully, "Yes, thank you brother!"

What follows is a number of plans that are orchestrated by Klint and ... attempted by Barok – first is a garden party at the van Zieks estate, where Klint has Barok welcome the one he's sweet on and offer to get them a drink; he encourages his little brother to compliment them on their attire, ask them how the journey to North Devon was and what they've been up to lately.

Despite being awkward, he does manage to ask and listens attentively; ultimately, however, he grows far too shy to maintain the conversation and quickly makes his exit while trying to hide his blush.

Next is a dinner party, which Klint hosts at the Inn of Court of which he holds membership; he orchestrates the seating plan so that Barok and his would-be-beloved are seated together. They chat a little, about their respective weeks; their hobbies and interests; recent events –– but the conversation is quickly de-railed by another of the dinner guests, who insists on talking about himself and bragging in a bid to catch Barok's crush's attention.

Klint's plans continue –– he finds out the mask Barok's beloved will be wearing at an upcoming masquerade ball and makes sure to push his brother into his would-be beloved's arms, but someone cuts in not long after and sweeps his crush away...

Finally, fed up with the constant interruptions of the aristocrats, Klint sends invitations to both youngsters, inviting them to a 'party', which actually ends up being dinner for two.

At last, they have a chance to really talk and Barok plucks up the courage to express his feelings. To his stunned delight, those feelings are reciprocated thanks to all the efforts Barok has made to get to know them and be a well-mannered and charming young would-be suitor.

Where is she?

Bakugou can’t help but wonder as he walks into the classroom, staring at your desk that rests beside his. This marks a week that you weren’t here before him, or at all for that matter. Every other day in the school year you made it your goal to beat him to the classroom, something about soaking up the good energy before he trashed it. That had him nearly kicking your ass. Naturally due to your quirk similarities the two of you gravitated towards each other out of pure curiosity over the school year.

A few whispers fill the classroom as he takes his seat, feet kicked up on the desk top just for the sake of getting something out of Iida today. He glances down to his phone, still waiting for some kind of message from you but still find nothing but spam memes from Kaminari and Kirishima who smicker when they notice him looking at it. Surely if something bad happened you would tell him, right?

She’s probably sick.

He comes to the conclusion, setting down his phone on the desk. It’s a logical reason for you to not be in. You’re just too sick to get out of bed and show up, and to message him, and to answer his calls. He’s just convincing himself at this point. Things around the school have been hard since the attack on the camp and since he was kidnapped. Everyone’s currently in the process of moving out of home and into the dorms at UA.

Rumors about a traitor have been floating around the school when it was pointed out that no one but a select few knew about where the camp was. “What if she was the traitor and she was caught?” Came the questioning voice of Mineta, catching Bakugou’s attention. The blond looks over his shoulder at the purple perv that he’d give anything to punt out of the room. In frustration his palms crackle, a venting method when he gets worked up. “I mean she’s not here right? And I’m pretty sure they were talking about cracking down on the traitor.” A few students mutter in agreement with the short grape. 

She can’t be a traitor.

Bakugou growls, slamming his hands on the table top, the soft cracking of his palms is muffled by the hard surface. The room falls quiet at his outburst, looking towards the explosive blond. Red eyes scan over the room, catching with the few people who know you personally who had been trying to argue with the point that Mineta had brought up. “Y/n’s not a traitor.” He snaps, glaring harshly at Mineta, who shrinks easily under his gaze. 

For just a moment, his eyes meet the green ones of Deku, who nods in agreement, not wanting to stir up the agitated teen. “He’s right, she’s not. Why else would she have gone with us to rescue him?” The memory pulls at his mind of when he saw the rag tag group and their half-assed way of rescuing him. 

The door to the class opens and Aizawa walks in, pausing to observe the tension that the class is basically suffocating in. His eyes lock on Bakugou, who’s still standing with his hands pressed to the desk. “Bakugou, sit down.” He instructs, taking his place at the front of the room. The rest of the students follow suit and take their seats, keeping quiet in front of the underground hero. He squints at the class, trying to figure out what’s wrong before his eyes latch onto the empty seat at the front of the class then back at the class. 

The students watch him, confusion written on their faces when he sighs, pushing a strand of hair back out of his face. Iida raises his hand on the other side of the room, “if everything okay Mr. Aizawa?” He questions when called on by the teacher. The attention for a moment shifts to Iida then back to their overly tired teacher. 

Aizawa rubs his eye, looking down at the paper on the podium. “As you all have heard UA has been cracking down on a traitor in the school.” He starts, clearly reading off of the paper. “A student here at UA that you all know as Y/n L/n has been hand selected to help in this investigation.” Glances are shared among the students, a few pointed glares at those who had accused you of being the traitor. “This investigation proved successful in locating the traitor.” He looks up from the paper, gesturing to the empty desk. “As you can see Y/n is not here and has not been here for the last week. We wanted to get all the details before saying anything but she go into a fight with the traitor when accusing them and is currently being treated at the hospital.”

Bakugou felt his heart skip a beat and stop completely, his burning gaze flickering to your unoccupied desk. While he knew you couldn’t have been the traitor the truth seemed to hurt a little more. Knowing that you were hurt and couldn’t reach out about it was unnerving and made him anxious about your well-being. “Can we see her?” It was Kaminari who voiced the question plaguing Bakugou’s mind. 

Aizawa observes the class, taking note of the student’s reactions to the news, he knew it would hit the class. “On your own time. She’s only taking one person at a time. She made it clear that before anyone she would like to see Bakugou. I believe her words were ‘there’s too much good energy’.” A smile pulls at Bakugou’s face, which he masks with the click of his tongue.

After school Bakugou didn’t bother wasting any time, making a b-line to the hospital where you were. He’s lead up to your room though for a minute he just stands outside the door, unable to knock in the fear of what you might look like at the moment. Were you badly injured? Covered in bandages that leaves you looking like Aizawa after the USJ attack? 

Taking in a deep breath, Bakugou reaches up and knocks on the door. A soft, “come in” can be heard front he other side, prompting him to opening the door. There, sitting in the hospital bed is you, smiling at him with a wave of a bandaged up arm. “Hey Kat!” Bakugou closes the door behind him before walking over to the bed. “Sorry about not texting, kinda broke my phone.” You give a shy smile, watching as he stops right at the side of your bed. “You okay Kat?”

Bakugou stares at you, tracing the bandages on you with his eyes before sighing. “You had me worried idiot.” He flicks your forehead, watching you scrunch up your face in reaction and lean back in the bed. “Thought you were sick and dying.” He admits, watching you smile gesturing for him to sit down in the chair beside your bed. 

You gasp, placing your hand over your chest with a smirk. “Is the Katsuki Bakugou concerned about me?” You lean over a bit, watching him scoff and push you back with his hand on your forehead. “Joking. Joking.” You raise your hands in defense. “I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you.” You say after a few moments of silence between you two. 

Bakugou stares at you for a moment before shaking his head. “It’s fine. Just. Maybe at least clue me in.” You smile, nodding as he sets his hand on your covered leg. It was moments like these that he lives for, the moments behind closed doors with just the two of you. That’s how he knew you weren’t the traitor.

What I love about him: How this boy is so confident, charming, smug, stylish, reckless, cool, adventurous on one hand and yet so profoundly humble, deeply caring, super kind, considerate, weak, and hurting on the other hand. You don't see those two go together often and it's attractive. So often people are using the first persona as a facade to mask the vulnerability of the second. But with Douxie you know that he's openly both. He's honest to the core and, as so many have said about him before, wears his heart on his sleeve. He's real. I love his careless, free-spirited, figure-it-out-as-we-go attitude towards life, the quick wit he uses to come up with spontaneous ideas and solutions, and it's absolutely mesmerizing to see him have fun. I would trust him with my life, and I want to meet an irl version of him one day!

What I hate about him: His eagerness to please Merlin becomes annoying fairly quickly upon the occasional Wizards rewatch, but it's bearable knowing you're obviously only supposed to go through the same issue once in life. And because you know he gets better. Other than that, I...um...I have to confess that I don't really like moppet. I would have liked to see him have at least one (1) good idea to show us that the wits of the older and smarter Douxie were already slumbering in his younger version. Or, alternatively, something to show us that his tiny, moppety problems were ALSO valid. But all we got was the dead stupid apprentice. There, I said it. Jail for Mother for One Thousand Years from all moppet lovers XD

Favorite Moment/Quote: You're making me pick? Impossible. I'll narrow it down! Um... the unexpected guitar is a classic favorite, then the "Eternal Time Trap/I am Hisirdoux Casperan!" speech and "That was kind of the plan." Yup. That's about it :)

What I would like to see more focus on: moppet, I guess, as stated above, Ash Dispersal Pattern and his relationship with Zoe and Arch. You could basically have given me a 5-hour documentary about his ordinary life and I'd have watched it.

What I would like to see less focus on: Nothing. We all wanted more, not less, and rightfully so! :)

Favorite pairing with: ...................me, please? Haha <3 oh, to cuddle with a bf in a hoodie as comfy as that...nahh, not really. I'm in love with his personality but I'm not sure I'd like the goth aesthetic every day of the week. Also, he's just a teeny-tiny bit too skinny and pale for my taste...and he prefers Zoe anyway. So that's that. To be honest, I can imagine him just staying single as well. He's got too much great big brother energy!

Favorite friendship: Claire and Steve. To watch both friendships grow and improve in their own unique ways is super satisfying to watch. I'm still 100% convinced that Douxie had no choice but to look at Steve one day and go "welp. I'm stuck with this idiot, so I might as well be his friend." Steve values it deeply, though.

NOTP: With anyone else but Zoe.

Favorite headcanon: That famous Ash Dispersal Pattern concert in New York City I just won't shut up about. Somewhere, in some universe, it happened and he had lots of fun and carried the smile of a child in his happy place :)

What I love about him: Oof. He wears his heart on his sleeve as well, but introverted haha. He's quietly observant, incredibly smart, daring and brave. He's honest to himself too, playing only to his strengths and not even remotely trying to be someone else than he already is. He's very handsome, beautiful and a deep thinker.

What I hate about him: Hey, remember the other ask meme? The one where it said "if you could, which character would you whack over the head"? Yeah that's HICCUP. HOW CAN YOU BE SO STUPID. HOW CAN YOU WHO WERE PRAISED FOR YOUR SOPHISTICATION DENY EVERY SINGLE BIT OF LOGICAL THINKING UTTERED BY YOUR FATHER AND WALK INTO THAT STUPID TRAP SET BY DRAGO. AND HOW CAN YOU NOT REALIZE THAT IN HTTYD 3, YOU NEEDED AN ACTUAL PLAN BOY; BECAUSE YOU'RE CHIEF NOW AND YOU'RE DEFINITELY, UNDOUBTEDLY RESPONSIBLE FOR LIKE 700 PEOPLE AND 2000 DRAGONS. No seriously, his development in the later movies drives me mad as heck. I projected a lot onto him when I was younger, and felt highly insulted when his character turned dumb. My greatest fear is that people will think that I'm that way. I'm all for spontaneity and taking chances, but NOT without thinking logically first.

Favorite Moment/Quote: Pheww...you're making it impossible to choose again. First one: That "Yes" after Astrid asks him whether he'd sacrifice it all for his pet dragon. Second: "Yesterday...when we flew together...it's like I got back something I didn't know I'd lost. And that's the part I'll choose to remember" (taken from a deleted Httyd 2 scene where Valka was still the villain). Third...the "Toothless made it easier" - "What are you going to do about it?" - "Probably something stupid" line from the last movie. Man, that scene was good.

What I would like to see more focus on: Frankly, the rest of his life. Because Httyd tells so much of his story, and well, life doesn't end as soon as you're married. I would have liked to see him be a great Chief. I wouldn't even want a Httyd 4 to be about his kids or something. Just him. I believe there's still more to him, you know.

What I would like to see less focus on: HIS OUTRIGHT STUPIDITY PLEASE AND THANK YOU

Favorite pairing with: Astrid.

Favorite friendship: Dagur. I just love how they were written to become brothers.

Favorite headcanon: Another happy flying scene where it's just him and Toothless in Httyd 3. And oh, yeah. The shield he brought to the cove in the first movie? It's still stuck between the two rocks. You bet.

From BH6/HTTYD: Ghost’s Fury

 You ever have a fic in your head, and it goes zipping along faster than you can get it written down and before you know it your mind’s on the third sequel and you’re scrambling to write everything down before you forget?  Hi.

More from that BH6/HTTYD fic Ghost’s Fury, basically a crossover/fusion fic where Book I kind of follows the plot and general concept of the first How to Train Your Dragon movie, but with some twists.  Start with the fact that our intrepid heroes are the dragons and the bad guys are the mercenary raiders whose village gets targeted on a regular basis by evil alpha dragons.  And that apparently, Book III includes a crossover with Tangled as well.

So to explain—I was working on Book III this week (really need to work on Book I but I digress), got on Tumblr to poke around the BH6 tags, and this thread got started, with the following bits sticking out to me after I had written them:

“And Eugene’s over here being this big ball of sunshine

Only temporarily phased by dragons and refers to Seashockers as Sparky Sea Pancakes

And basically being Hiccup in that HTTYD: Hidden World meme”

Which meant that yes, I had to do him. :D

Did this with my sketch-and-wash style and did the nice soft shading that I love, with the background being a simple gradient.  Had to hunt down an image of Hiccup actually doing that pose (got a gif for my trouble), and referenced the lighting in that scene in addition to the pose.  And then had to have a page of Eugene open, since this is my first time drawing him ever. ^^;  Eugene’s dressed in his captain of the guard uniform here, since that’s his capacity in the fic, with the addition of a sash that I wrote into the fic and didn’t give a second thought to if he actually had one. ^^;  Ah well he still looks fabulous. :D

   As I said in this deviation, this thing has three books and I have been typing like mad trying to get it all down.  Book I might have 18 consecutive chapters, 57+K words, and 124 pages; but Book II has 5 consecutive chapters, 81+K words, and 191 pages; while Book III has 8 consecutive chapters, 104+ words, and 235 pages.  To give a general idea of how hard this fic in particular and BH6 fanfic in general jumped on my head: I started this series last year. 

On the positive side—you can start reading Book I on FanFiction and AO3.  Updates are currently every Thursday until I get The Things We Do For Science rolling again—I need to get the Portal juices flowing…. 

And yes, I am aware of what canon for the franchises did—but being as I disagree with those canons, I have elected to ignore it.

And I seriously need to watch the Tangled series Disney would it kill you to stop showing the same five shows FOR ONE DAY!?!

Hsjsj hmm,, having people tell/show me they're proud of me! It doesn't happen often so when someone tells me that I did a certain this nicely or that I should be proud about how thus thing turned out I always work on it more, hoping to make it better for the people who told me they like it. That's actually how I got so into drawing, I remember doing it as a child and my parents would always encourage it so I continued to draw and still do so now. Since I've been drawing for so long it's just a normal thing to show my mom them and I don't hear her say it a bunch anymore but that's why I work so hard in it!

Having people give me something they made! Like yea store bought stuff is nice ig but have you ever had your friends/family give you something they made?? It's great! I currently have 3 drawings from friends (two voltron characters, one cat), one coloring from my little sister (cat), and one drawing from my little cousin (a cat with wings), along with a painting my friend made (genderfluid pride flag with my nickname [cheeto] on it) on my wall; and I have a sign on my door made by my little sister (my name is misspelled but I don't mind I love it anyway)

Head pats! Like,,, they make me unusually happy,, usually if you give someone a head pat they'll either not react or give a small smile. But if you give me a head pat I'm like (*^ω^*) and you have just made my entire week. And if you like Pat my head and kinda leave your hand there I've been told I usually lean into your hand?? Like I don't even notice I do it I just do apparently

Just someone being like "this reminded me of you" it doesn't have to be a product or anything and if it is they don't have to buy it. Like just getting sent a picture with "this reminded me of you" is such a nice feeling. Like it can be a cool rock, or a weird shaped leaf, or an odd cloud, or a post, or a character from a movie/show/game/etc, or a meme, anything really!! I guess it's because it eases my worries about being forgotten easily a bit, it's just nice to know that I'm not being forgotten :)

Getting into something new! Well most of the time, sometimes I'll get annoyed bc when I get into a new thing 99.9% of the time it becomes a new hyperfixation and it's just a bother cause I can't like things normally I'm either obsessed or uninterested djjdnd ✋😔 but I enjoy getting into new things bc I often worry about there being things out there that I'd truly enjoy but never find so when I find a new thing I enjoy my mind is basically like haha one down ùwú also, if my siblings aren't into it that makes it even better!! Growing up with so many siblings you have to share almost everything and this includes interests. Which sucks bc I'm the quiet middle child so usually if another sibling is interested in what I am, they get more credit for it. For example; BTS is associated with my younger sister despite me listening to and enjoying them first, HTTYD is associated with my other younger sister despite me showing interest first, same thing with my younger brother and Pokemon, p!atd is associated with my older sister despite me listening to them first, video games are associated with my two older brothers not matter how much I enjoy them, BnHA is associated with my younger brother despite me being interested first and watching it more, etc. So finding things they aren't interested in is a breath of fresh air, that's another reason I love Deathnote so much! My two younger sisters don't handle violence well, my brother thinks it's too mainstream (*cough*says the one who listens to rappers purely bc everyone else does*cough*) and my older sister doesn't care about anime and my older brother just doesn't want to watch it, and my oldest brother has already seen it and doesn't care for it too much.

[ OOC ] So, y’all can expect low - ish activity from me for the next week or so because I have been excited for Pokemon Sword   &   Shield for months, and they’re finally in my hands.  I have Pokemon Shield for anyone who is interested in such knowledge.  I DID manage to do a bit here this evening; I did some crossover research for RDR / RDR2 and I have the gist of who Luna is   &   what she does in that setting.  Next will be TDC, I’ll likely do that some tomorrow, and hopefully finish my VIKINGS rewatch so I can get started on watching TDC : AOR !  I still plan on writing those synopses for her crossover verses for RDR / RDR2, TDC, HTTYD, and GOT.  That’s what all this research is for, as I like to know as much as I can, yadda yadda.  If I could just get myself to balance my time between Pokemon and getting all this crossover stuff set up, that’d be nice; I’d really like to interact with some of my mutuals by sending memes but it’s rude of me to do so when I have nothing specified for a certain setting.

Beyond the shipping, what would you tell someone to get them to watch that moomin show? Like, what's so good about it?

tbh i’m not even into moomin because of the “shipping”. like all the memes are fun and i think the idea of snufkin and moomin dating is cute but like the reasons i actually enjoy the show are:

the vibe. idk, it’s just kinda a feel-good show dealing with the characters inter-personal issues and the issues they chose to overcome together. while it’s not all rainbows and happy times (especially in the books and comics, i’ve heard) i just like it because it’s a chill show with very little “earth shattering” consequences. i’ve also heard it’s not exactly an “uwu pure” show either but also i haven’t really watched too much of it to know yet. 

the characters. i just find all of them really endearing in their own ways, and moomintroll and snufkin just happen to be my favorites. 

i relate a lot to moomintroll! he’s a grown troll but still lives at home and does child-like things, even though he also does adult things and is an adult. as a 19 year old who is slowly gaining more adult responsibilities but still likes to do kid things, it’s very relatable and i like how the show never really portrays it as bad that he still does kid things. 

i like snufkin’s character too! the idea of a mysterious wanderer who only grounds himself for one person is just a neat character idea. i also like how the 2019 series implies that he actually does have social anxiety, and that is the reason as to why he doesn’t really like being around people. 

the vibe, again. it has a real folklore-type vibe that i really dig since i love folklore and mythology. 

snufkin literally just tases a cop 

i love the character designs!! they’re all so imaginative. i know all the moomins look alike, and the snorks (the species moomin’s girlfriend is) also look like moomins, but there’s also subtleties to differentiate them too. i love all the different little creatures....i love watching the show and mumbling to myself “they are just....litle creachers....they cannot help this” (and yah i’ll admit its fucking weird that i do that but i think it’s funny)

i actually also really like the animation and voice acting i the 2019 version too 

snufkin is legit just a complete anarchist that hates authority and he’s just...a litle catman creacher.....like literally i painted a picture of him today just because i love him so much.

personally? i’ve been having a pretty stressful few weeks and whenever that happens i usually just hop onto a piece of media to use as escapism whenever i have the time and this time its moomin (previously it was httyd, and before that i think lucifer???)

but yeah that’s why i like moomin

First Line from an Old WIP

Hard to choose because I have a handful of things from HTTYD, Mass Effect, DA:I, D:BH, and even some old stuff from Glee (like...7 years old lmao!). I think DA:I sits at the most since I have just over 80k of unpublished/unfinished content spanning a handful of stories, with D:BH sitting at around 40k+ of WIP/unfinished content. 

Guys, I write a lot of crap >.>.

Here’s something I kept trying to make work but couldn’t. Tina/ST300 (Grace in my fic), with a side of Reed900. The basic idea was Tina goes into a full lesbian panic over the pretty receptionist and RK 900  and Gavin spend the fic competing to be Tina’s wing man while unknowingly getting closer. 

Today is just not Tina’s day.

She had nearly slept in again, curled up with her cranky Himalayan, Rufus, in the warmth of three layers of blankets as she went through two cycles of SNOOZE before hastily jumping in the shower and bolting out into the downpour.

Anyone curious to see what I came up with may read the first two pages I typed beneath the cut XD. Warning: Gavin being Gavin, Nines being sweet af, and Tina going into full panic beneath the cut.

Today is just not Tina’s day.

She had nearly slept in again, curled up with her cranky Himalayan, Rufus, in the warmth of three layers of blankets as she went through two cycles of SNOOZE before hastily jumping in the shower and bolting out into the downpour. Forgetting her umbrella and windbreaker, she was soaked by the time she made it into her vehicle and then had to battle Detroit’s morning rush. By the time she burst through the doors of of the DPD, she was a few minutes shy of the start of her shift and without her morning coffee.

What a shitty way to start the day, she thinks, groaning internally.

Kicking off the last of the rainwater from her boots, she only just steps aside as Gavin storms into the entrance, grumbling about ‘phcking asshole drivers’ and ‘shitbag partners’ under his breath. Water drips off his wet hair, his drenched clothing not escaping the rain’s onslaught, and it’s a minor comfort that Tina can share her misery with him.

“Fuck this weather,” he complains, swiping his wet shoes over the welcome mat.

“Fuck this week,” Tina adds, with a grimace. “Guessing you also got stuck in traffic? The I-75 was a shit show this morning.”

“Woulda gotten here sooner if my roboprick of a partner hadn’t needed a fucking ride. All that ‘state of the art’ processing power and dipshit can’t “preconstruct’”, and Gavin’s voice drips with sarcasm, “how backed up taxis are in a fucking rainstorm.”

The doors behind them slide open and RK900, Nines, closes the umbrella he’s carrying, shaking off the remaining rainwater. His usually blue LED cycles to yellow, presumably catching the last, if not all, of Gavin’s rant, though it does little to alter his neutral expression.

“I have expressed my gratitude multiple times this morning as I am well aware that without your intervention, I would have arrived late,” Nines interjects. “If it will placate you, allow me to prepare a morning coffee for you and Miss Tina Chen.”

“Yeah, that would be—”

“Fuck that noise. I am not about to drink whatever shit you make,” Gavin sneers, interrupting Tina. And Tina, really, doesn’t know if she would rather smack her idiot friend or roll her eyes at how he has to turn everything into a god damn argument, even someone offering their Thanks, because a coffee would be really nice right about now. “You wanna be useful? Find me a damn change of clothes.”

“I believe I have an extra Cyberlife issued coat in my locker, as well as a DPD hoodie,” Nines says and Tina doesn’t miss the hint of amusement in his tone, nor the slight curling of his lip. “Though, I should point out, that if you took such objection to sharing my umbrella earlier due to ‘how gay that shit will look’,” and Tina snorts as she notices Gavin’s cheeks color, “then perhaps spending the shift wearing my spare clothing is not in your best interests.”

The deep blush spreads to the tips of Gavin’s ears, which he hides behind a snarl. “You know what? I don’t need this. Last time I do you a favor, asshole.”

Tina hides a laugh, already feeling her mood lift as Gavin hastily rushes past reception. Her gaze then falls to the woman sitting at the counter closest to them, an ST300 model who has been with the DPD for the last 7 months. Like the rest of the androids in the department, she deviated shortly after the revolution and chose to remain at her position. Tina has always found her attractive – undeniable, since Tina’s got two damn eyes and is weak for a woman with freckles – but in the snatches of conversations they’ve had in the last few months, she’s found herself growing more and more fond of Grace, to the point where she gets distracted sometimes wondering what it would be like to touch her hand, gingerly run her fingers through those soft looking locks, press her lips to each one of those freckles splashed across her cheeks…

“You should say hello to Grace, Miss Chen,” Nines says and the knowing smirk on his lips makes Tina’s face grow hot. “She has, on more than one occasion, mentioned how she looks forward to her conversations with you.”

“I—I--”

He gently directs her to the reception desk and Tina feels herself begin to panic. The most she ever manages are a few greetings, maybe a comment on the weather and, if she’s feeling particularly brave, she might throw out a question or two to fish for more information, find out what Grace’s interests are. Besides a fondness for outdated memes and pictures of her cat, she has yet to learn much else about Grace.

When Tina and Nines reach the desk, Grace’s smile widens and it’s as if the sun has come out to chase away the storm clouds plaguing Detroit. “Good morning, Nines, Miss Chen. Unfortunate weather we are having today.”

“Good morning, Grace. Miss Chen and I were just discussing the weather,” Nines adds.

Grace glances over the officer and the hint of a frown appears on her face.

“I see you are without an umbrella, Miss Chen. If you require one, I have an extra you may borrow.”

Tina watches those soft lips move, her brain seeming trapped on buffer as it attempts to process each melodic word the android utters. Her eyes fall to the olive skin exposed above Grace’s collarbone and shit, how has she never noticed there are freckles there, too?

“...Miss Chen?”

Tina blinks, notices both Nines and Grace staring at her expectantly.

Wait...did someone ask her a question?

Her gaze passes between both of the androids and with each passing millisecond as her mind races for something to say, Tina feels what little courage she has begin to slip.
