What are your top 5 Glee unpopular opinions?

1.) Santana was more to blame for most of the issues Brittana had in their relationship than Britt was. I'm not bashing Santana, I love her and the couple and I think they had really positive development overall but it just seems like a lot of the time fandom totally blames Britt for anything that went wrong instead of holding Santana accountable for her mistakes and that's not fair. Britt always gets demonized for the Santana/Britt/Artie situation more than Santana does, which is weird. Britt also gets blamed completely for the Season 4 breakup somehow and bashed for dating Sam, as if she cheated on Santana with Sam which isn't true at all.

2.) Season 2 isn't that great, especially for Brittana/Santana. It was just their introduction but it could have been handled way better by the writers. Don't get me wrong, I love Rumours and Born This Way but overall as a season it's just very messy and not enjoyable. Idk why it gets considered to be the best season for the couple and everyone goes on about how good it is. It's my second favourite season of Glee if I had to rank them but that's mainly because Seasons 4-6 are so flawed in other ways. Whenever I rewatch Season 2, it's the most frustrating season for Santana and the writing is so weak at times. Season 3 and 6 were far better for Santana and Brittana.

3.) This seems like a really unpopular opinion as a Santana fan but Santana is a villain for most of the series and I like her that way. I don't need to prove that she's sweet/adorable/amazing. I don't need her being my precious soft sunshine who can do no wrong. I like her being this total awkward destructive jerk who doesn't get along with most people and I don't need her to be besties with New Directions. She makes a great villain.

4.) Sue was actually an asshole for most of the seasons and it's ridiculous how fandom just excuses her for everything just because she's a villain and she's funny at times. They demonize the other teachers for any flaws and yet Sue gets hyped up even though she was the worst. I get that she's a villain but just because she's cartoonish doesn't mean she should get excused for everything. She literally tried to kill a student, there was that whole weird exploitation of Figgins, and she treated her Cheerios like prostitutes. Sue is well acted and a good villain but it's about time we acknowledge Sue was awful. In seasons 4-6 she lost any entertaining qualities and became just annoying.

5.) Sam is a weak and annoying character. He's the most bland whitebread filler character that somehow gets hyped because he's a blue eyed blond haired himbo white boy who everyone wants to ship with their other bland boy character. He was never even attractive or cool but somehow got forced into everything in Glee when he probably should have left after Season 2. The only good, semi relevant role he ever had was being Mercedes' boyfriend. I hate how he gets forced into every fanfiction and paired with everyone. Tbh I actively avoid fics with Sam pairings unless it's Samcedes.

tbh there aren't a lot of ships where I don't get at least why people ship them but we're not here for nuance we're here for salt

MDZS I do NOT understand why Jiāng Chéng | Jiāng Wǎnyín/Lán Huàn | Lán Xīchén is SO FUCKING POPULAR like their fanart will be on my Insta feed. They talk all of like twice in the tv show and I don't think at all in the novel but they're more popular than LXC/NMJ or LXC/JGY I don't even ship the former pair but that one at least makes SENSE.

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*

I really had to think on this and I don't think so? There's fandom OTPs that I think have no romantic chemistry but I wouldn't say I BroTP them so much as I think their story is either mid as fuck or they just don't have chemistry.

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*

I'm to lazy to have outright NoTP's like I can't fucking stand Sterek, or Klance which I know are big general fandom OTPs but I was only in the Teen Wolf fandom for like 2 seasons before tapping out b/c I was fighting homophobia and racism from the fandom AND the show? I think the fuck not. Voltron I just watched the show but the fandom was so fucking LOUD and Klance is a crackship with the worst fans. Also Klaine from glee I started shipping them and they became awful

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

Okay now THIS I can answer so:

Moonlight Chicken - I'd recast Wen and Jim, Earth is to freaking young to play a man in his 40s, I like the idea of him being Wen actually and someone like Peter Knight playing Uncle Jim cause Peter can actually be called Uncle believably. I'd also cut that Gaipa/Alan bit at the end it's unnecessary and felt fan service-y

Only Friends - Get rid of all the annoying slut shaming, have Mew and Ray have sex but it's bad sex so the narrative can actually examine why they don't work as a couple, given Top some god damn development, give Boston some nuance, treat revenge porn as seriously as the show treats alcoholism, do a more thorough exploration of sex (bad sex, good sex, kink, discussions of open and poly relationships) give the lesbians something to fucking do

Glee - to much to fucking list but in my world Klaine wouldn't have gotten married they wouldn't even have gotten engaged they would have both realized high school romances don't last, they outgrew each other, remained friends and both got new love interests as adults. Chris clearly hated playing that storyline by the end and it showed.

The Glory - had the doctor kill someone! I was promised carnage from him!! I was salty he didn't even lightly stab somebody. Also a poly ending with him, Moon, and the hot daddy business man

KBLs - this is a more general change but make them just a tiny bit longer just a bit

Ok I'm really bad at unpopular opinions stuff cause I'm very easy to be persuaded with the popular fandom opinions ( one of my biggest weaknesses which is why I stay out of fandoms as much as I can )

but, here are some opinions that I think are not common with the fandom

I will build a Rachel and Blaine ( and tina too tbh ) defense squad if I can as this fandom hates them senselessly because of which I've become so much more protective of them

I think I dislike Holly and April more than I do with Mr.Schue. Everyone says Holly would've been a better teacher but all I see with her is coddling her students and giving them free rein which leads to them messing up real bad and Holly not taking responsibility for it. And saying very inappropriate sexual stuff and making people feel bad about being celibate and stuff. yeah, I just don't vibe with her

I like glee more when either it goes totally off the rail with the craziness or when it gets really angsty and fills me with heartbreak, there's no in-between there for me with the show. Like, my fav eps are puppet master, loser like me ( the number of times I've rewatched the klaine breakup scene, hummelberry scene, and scandals scene is insane ), hurt locker part 2, and tested.

I vehemently despise s3 and have not rewatched it ever which is why you'll barely see s3 stuff in my videos because I barely remember any of it and most of my memory comes from being on Tumblr. On the flip side, I love s5 ( esp s5b but the s5a part is also very much enjoyable ) and s6 ( which actually are the only seasons I've rewatched )

I truly don't like any of the non-cannon ships for klaine unless they are totally out of the mind's reach like Blaine*Jake, Kurt*Mike, Artie* Kurt* Blaine, Blaine* the VA leader in s5 ( i guess his name is Jeane baptist ? ). like I know these ships will never have any strong opinions from fandom, so I like imagining storylines or read fics for them cause most of these people like klaine but also want to see other options for the boys and will never hate on klaine

And i don't like brittany but i feel like that's a popular opinion nowadays which is why i barely talk about her ( and because of which i truly can't get into brittana eventhough i appreciate their relationship and find them cute and am happy they found each other )

And tike/mike is totally not my cup of tea and you seem to be the only person who would agree with me on this . just TINA DESERVES BETTER THAN SOMEONE WHO COMPARES HER TO RACHEL AND TELLS HER TO KEEP BEING IN THE BACKGROUND INSTEAD OF ASKING FOR HER DESERVED SPOTLIGHT

a cure i know that soothes the soul (does so impossibly), the first pwp i wrote for this fandom lol

for better or for worse (til death do us part), which i also cowrote with marlo lol

it might be your wound but they’re my sutures, which i also wrote for marlo

so the pattern im sensing here is that my most popular fics were written with/for marlo which sounds about right lol

5. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

i am not sure tbh, i write some pretty angsty one shots and longer fics, but i TRY to at least give a slightly hopeful ending, tho now that i’m thinking about it, i think the angstiest thing i’ve written was that prompt fill based on the song, for island fires and family, i remember SOBBING the entire time that i wrote it (there is miluca in that one), but ALSO there is the fic i wrote in reaction to the season one finale, which also made me cry, which was called, we both know how this story ends

6. What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

once again i’m not sure, like i said before, i try to give my fics hopeful endings if they’re really angsty, and i love me some hurt/comfort, but i’m not entirely known for writing happy, fluffy fics, tho i do TRY sometimes for certain people

yes!! i do love me some crossovers, and i guess i would have to say the malex, sort of doctor who au, i’m technically still writing for tove

okay, so like don’t hate me, but no, i rarely, if ever respond to comments, i just don’t know what to say at all, like i’m the type of person that really wants every single message to be unique and special, but there are only so many ways to thank someone for reading your fic, so i just tend to post things and then thank everyone for reading afterwards, if there is someone that shows up often on my notifications, or if someone asks me a specific question pertaining to the story, then i will answer, i also answer back if i wrote the fic for someone and they left a comment, and if i’m sent an ask on here about something that i wrote, but i am simultaneously the world's most shy and confident person ever, when it comes to my writing, so i’m so sorry

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i’m just gonna talk about fics that i’ve posted and haven’t updated and not any of the hundreds of wips that have never seen the light of day, my original witch au tbh, i just, roswell made maria and isobel somehow related, and just made me really uncomfortable with the ship, which is the main reason that i’m not gonna finish the fic if i’m being perfectly honest, there is ALSO that au i had where michael’s daughter from the future comes back to the past and she had been raised by alex, because of reasons that are petty, probably my space opera au as well, and only because i just want to write other things MORE

16. What are your writing strengths?

i think i’m good at describing things, especially kisses, i LOVE writing kisses, it’s one of my favorite things, that and my fight scenes are two of the things i pride myself the most on

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

dialogue, sometimes i feel the characters are ridiculously out of character, but then i don’t care because sometimes in canon characters are also ridiculously out of characters, also describing things, because sometimes i just feel like scenes don’t flow right, i am definitely a comma whore, and use dashes and hyphens in places they definitely shouldn’t be used, run-on sentences are my best friends, also english isn't my first language, so, sometimes the way i phrase things just come out wrong

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

tbh completely honest, i follow the nora sakavic method where you just write the dialogue in english like, “hey there love,” they said in perfect french, and i only break this rule if i actually know the language because just translating straight from english always makes things sound stilted and weird

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

dc comics, i wrote several timkon fics which i posted on livejournal

20. What's your favourite fic you've written?

oh, i know that love is all about the wind, how it can hold me up and kill me in the end (still i loved it), no specific reason why, i just love it with my entire heart!!

how would rank nate's girlfriends (in terms of their relationships with nate and them as people)? lmao

hmm. this is hard. what’s easy is saying i loved natessa best, and hated naterine most. more under the cut!

i think i’ve mentioned enough times that most people know i think nate & vanessa were the best - they both supported each other equally, their relationship was very 50/50, they both respected & valued each other, etc. their relationship was so real and so balanced, i really loved watching that play out and think it made no sense, the way they caused the dissolution of it? especially since after breaking up with vanessa he suddenly seems really into commitment - see how he is with bree buckley!! where was that energy when you were dating someone who was actually cool, natie! 

i don’t know where to put serenate, because i love serena as a character, and i think nate was very committed to that relationship from day 1, but i don’t think serena ever took him as seriously as he deserved to be taken / as HE took her, & i don’t see that particular relationship to be fulfilling in a long-term way for similar reasons that i don’t ship danessa romantically. their break up felt organic to me. that said, serena WAS his best friend and she did care about him and want him to be happy, which is more than you can say for most of nate’s girlfriends.

blair & nate may not have had any sort of romantic spark when we saw them on the show (& honestly, i think nate was initially not a very good bf to blair)- but blair did her best to be there for him, and the implication of childhood friends is that she was there, paying attention for him & being there for him for a really long time. i think blair/nate had a really strong platonic connection that the show never went into, and i think by virtue of that they still rank relatively high from a nate pov at least. 

jenny/nate is also complicated to place, partially because i’m always going to be partial to lesbian!jenny & probably won’t write her as anything else. that said, of late, i’ve been seeing people who love her as much as me, if not more, who see her as someone who likes men, and the last thing i want to do is start a fandom war over ‘is this female character with unspecified sexuality lesbian or bi?’ because those NEVER end well. anyway i’ve become more tolerant to interpretations of jenny that aren’t her being lesbian, and i HAVE read a decent chunk of really good n/j fic. i think they had a closeness on the show that neither of them had with anyone else, where they could talk about their trauma with each other, which makes them special to me. that said, i don’t think their canon dynamic was necessarily the healthiest - jenny often used nate as a means to like, obtain social power, and nate became more passive than ever and just let jenny do whatever she wanted? it’s interesting to me because i feel, theoretically, like nate & jenny could be really healthy together but the show didn’t do that. 

i have a really weird soft spot for jenate shippers though, ever since i got those hateful jennycourse anons. i just hope y’all are having a good time in fandom, and not being dragged down by losers who send anon hate. (unconnected fun fact: sending me ship hate only makes me ship something more! and feel the urge to validate people who ship it.)

now we have a ton of guest stars & relatively unmemorable girlfriends. 

i liked lola and raina!!! raina & nate > lola & nate, for me, tbh. raina & nate had such a childlike enthusiasm and during that day that they do things they’ve never done before, they were both SO happy and it was so cute. eating ice-cream together, talking about starting an ice-cream company, raina kicking nate’s ass at just dance... i wish we’d gotten more raina. i think i actually like raina x nate more than serenate, come to think of it. we didn’t have enough of her, though. raina would’ve been such a GOOD series regular. 

i liked lola & nate!!! lola reminds me of kelsi from hsm for some reason i cannot articulate, and her relationship with nate was VERY chill. low-pressure, drama free, etc, from what i remember. twas cute.

now we are into the less nice ones!

bree :( nate was so into this relationship and there were times when he seemed like he would genuinely be happy with her, but i disliked bree as a character so much that i just could NOT get behind his happiness. it baffles me how men settle for bree buckley after vanessa abrams.

juliet, next. i never liked juliet from the beginning, and i say this as a flex ;) idk she was just really pushy, and her whole “I Can Help You Improve Your Life Even Though You Have No Idea Who I Am” thing felt like a major red flag. i felt vindictive glee about my judgement being right on that one, lmao.

sage goes here, because we only have catherine & diana next. but to be really honest, i think the problem with the sage/nate relationship was nate. he should not have been dating her once he realised she was in high school. teenagers have crushes on people in their 20s!! it’s normal!!! it’s the responsibility of the adults to Not engage and to turn them down if they try to initiate something!! 

diana is the second worst to me - the fact that she’s working for nate’s grandfather, the hashtag workplace harassment of it all... it’s really devastating.

i’ve implied before on this blog that catherine (& naterine) was the worst thing - genuinely traumatic, and it’s implied that after a point, she’s manipulating him & all the sex is coerced, which is undeniably the most terrible. like... the implications are of caon rape, so it really does not get worse than this.

i have not counted jordan steele or ivy dickens (she was never really his gf, she just kissed him + i can’t take her really seriously, given that she was cheating on dan’s dad with serena’s dad and apparently this was completely unironic and non-satirical) because the wikia says that they never officially dated & unlike jenate, those 2 aren’t even Main Characters.

When they enable each other’s bad behaviors.

3. One emotional aspect of a ship that always gets you

Trust. Really simple as that. But when they genuinely open up about something fucked up they’ve been through or reveal their soft side, it like... gets me.

4. One physical aspect of a ship that always gets you

Height difference. And like, honestly, either way is amazing. I know especially in the mlm ships it’s usually the “top is taller” thing, but like... that is just as amazing as the taller one getting absolutely wrecked by the shorter one?

5. Multiship or Monoship?

MULTI. ALWAYS MULTI. How do people with only one ship even live?

6. Rare pairs or Mainstream?

Rare pairs. It never ceases to terrify me when I realize the ship I like is actually really very popular. I don’t know, it’s just... impossible to connect for me then? It’s so large, there are so many here who have already been here forever, there is ten thousand set-in-stone fanons for this ship already? I prefer to sail a smol sailing ship with a crew where basically everyone on board kinda knows each other, or like at least knews each other threw someone both know. That way also makes it easier for me to find... footing in the fandom. Also, all cards are still on the table. You get to be the first to write trope x, instead of the 10th this week alone. And I dunno, but it’s fun to be the first to do something, or not even just the first, just... when something hasn’t been done to death already.

7. Polyamory or Monogamy?

Yikes, I genuinely hate that phrasing, like... it links so much with “monogamy means being faithful” and making everything else seem like cheating, not to mention polyamorous people can be in monogamous relationships too, so it should be polyamory vs monoamory.

But technicalities aside, poly all the freaking way.

8. If the ship is physical, reversible or not?

...what? *blinks* Like. I... genuinely have no idea what this question means?? Reversible? In what context? How is the ship physical?

9. Do you always have romantic ships for fandoms?

Yes, always, otherwise I don’t consider it a “fandom” of my own.

Things I have ships for, I am actually invested in. Things I don’t have ships for are just... casual watches for me and I wouldn’t look at them as a fandom of mine. Something only becomes a fandom to me if I have a baseline investment in it and that, for me, always shows in shipping.

10. How important is the sexual part (if any) of your ship?

Very, actually. As an asexual person, the only thing I’ve ever seen in sex was a sign of trust, because you are literally never more vulnerable than when you are naked and bare and doing this. I always looked at sex as that, as a huge sign of trust in each other. That’s why the majority of my oneshots end on a sex scene, actually. It’s like... “this is where they are, they trust each other so much they share their bodies with each other and now they lay together, in each other’s arms in a gentle embrace, with nothing but this content feeling of being with the one they love on their mind”.

(It’s why I, to this day and beyond this day, will never understand casual hook ups with total strangers. The mere idea is utterly disturbing and terrifying to me, tbh.)

11. Opinion on platonic ships?

Friendships and familiar relationships are sooo important and honestly my favorite thing about fics is when they dive into what canon has only scratched upon. The potentials for friendships and family dynamics that canon deemed a waste of time to spend screentime on so they only made throwaway remarks that hint at these dynamics. I love exploring those. *^*

Yes.

I mean, even beyond fanfiction, I find marriage pretty important. I think it’s weird if you’ve been together for years and are of the opinion that you don’t plan on leaving this other person to then not marry them, tbh??

Also, it gives the nice fanfiction opportunity of taking on the spouse’s name in case of [insert abusive family here]. :D

15. Opinion on kids?

Very much yes. Seriously, creating a next gen OC line-up is one of the most fun things about being in a fandom? Also, this is how I know I have gotten Very Invested in something. okay miranda dont hate me but quinn is honestly one of my least favorite characters. i think they had an okay thing going with her in the beginning, when she was the pregnant cheerleader who gained strength through her found family (and the scene where she gets kicked out of her house by her dad is one of my favorite scenes in the whole show). but her writing was just awful, and i feel like they re-did and un-did her progress over and over to the point where we werent supposed to know what to think about her. she is just so inconsistent as a character, and thats what i hate. they gave her the pregnancy plotline, which was such a powerful and moving staple of the first season, and we watched her find self acceptance as an outcast. but then they throw all that newfound self acceptance out the window when they make her join and re-join the cheerios again and again in a desperate attempt to regain her popularity and social status. they give her a disability plotline just to have her walking again after just a few episodes, and never mention it again; ive ranted about this in an ask about glee and ableism before, but the fact that they treated her car accident and subsequent injury as a throwaway plot that did not affect her character at all just shows that quinn was like,, their test dummy for random things they wanted to write into the show and then completely discard. and then her appearances in s4-s6 were so random and sporadic, like when she visits rachel just to shame her out of filming a topless scene, and the time she used her role as kittys mentor to yell at jake for *checks smudged writing on hand* being related to puck. and then how she didnt appear at all in the quarterback episode, or go to brittanas wedding. they were so off and inconsistent with quinn, which is a shame bc in the beginning she looked like such a promising character with real depth.

i know a lot of the fandom loves quinn, and i wouldnt take that away from anyone (esp wlw who have crushes on her and/or see her as bi), but she is just not it for me.

i am such a jyrus bitch. i will be jyrus trash until the end of time. ive accepted that tyrus is canon, and im not mad at people for shipping/being happy about it. but jyrus!!! deserved!!! better!!! im so hurt

as someone who ran a very thorough and detailed andi mack blog back during season 1 of the show when jyrus was all speculation and we were just overanalyzing crumbs that were thrown our way by the show, i will never get over them. the way their friendship evolved from blind adoration to mutual trust and admiration. the way they supported and affirmed each other and built each other up!!! im gonna CRY they were so pure and so good and the show threw it away in like. two sentences.

the andi mack fandom spans such a wide age range, and if ive noticed any trends at all, its generally that people in their early to mid teens seem very obsessed with tyrus, and thats great for them that theyve found some canon representation that way. but ive noticed that the trend with the older crowd is mostly still jyrus, and im wondering what thats about? if i had the platform and the motivation i would love to conduct some sort of survey study of the andi mack fandoms demographics vs their opinions on certain parts of the show bc ive noticed a few of these types of divides tbh?

honestly just what the fuck. as someone who has devoted way too much time to this show, i understand its shortcomings. in general its more gimmicky and promotional than substantial or well written. disney put this trash out into the world and i accepted it and said thank you.

so when they announced that s2 would be beauty and the beast, i was annoyed but not surprised. its clear that they were only using hsm as a grab for viewers based off of nostalgia, but there were SO many other movies they couldve used. i would sell my entire soul to see them take on teen beach movie! they couldve at least picked a dcom!!!

the thing that bugs me the most about it though is that they didnt even bother to watch their own show and preserve continuity. theres a scene early in episode two where nini literally says that they did beauty and the beast in ninth grade (last year, bc nini is a sophomore!) and that she played a fork. why would the school do beauty and the beast two years in a row? theyre gonna have to dodge canon to justify it in s2 and just hope nobody notices.

Lowkey feel like Tumblr is the only place in the whole fandom where the boys get love and respect tbh. Other sites tend to stan Sam and hate/dismiss the rest of the boys. And even Sam doesn't get analysis or meta bc I guess this fandom doesn't think the boys's stories are interesting or worth discussing.

Which is fine, to each their own, but just from the perspective of someone who stans some Glee girls but also the Glee boys, most of the Glee fandom is Glee girl centric and Tumblr is the sole exception which gets kind of frustrating at times.

I really can't speak to platforms other than Reddit so I'll take your word for it. Insta's just reposting from other places with no discussion, Twitter is a cesspool and I stubbornly refuse to engage with Tiktok in any capacity. I will say that I've seen Sam getting significantly more love than other boys though.

I guess this fandom doesn't think the boys's stories are interesting or worth discussing

Do you mean other platforms then? Because from what I've seen that doesn't feel fair to tumblr. The conclusion with these things, imo, is always that fandom isn't a tangible community nor a monolith, not even on a given platform so I tend to avoid general statements like that. I also can't really tell if that's a dig but I'll choose to take it in good faith.

But you know what I really think people should just keep on liking what they like and if they want to see content for it, it has to start somewhere. That's what started to get frustrating about the sub as well, complaints that "no one talks about x" (usually a widely discussed topic, mind) or that certain aspects (chs/ships) get all the love. Get the conversations started, gush about your favourite things! Like-minded people will follow along and even those who aren't huge fans but like overall appreciation will chime in. And if people think they have nothing to contribute, I guarantee that isn't true. Fandom isn't a restaurant, it's a kitchen.

I’ve been going through my archive and:

I can’t believe I used to ship Ashburn and TyRell at the same time. I was leading a dangerous game

I definitely Liked Michael Burnham when I first started watching the show and then like not even a month later I started vitriolically hating her. That happened way faster than I remember

That also means I started shipping TyRell not even a month after watching the first season and maybe 4 or 5 episodes of the second season. Like oh my god girl calm dowwwnnnnn, I really saw a tumultuous ship and was like “is anyone gonna ship this” and didn’t wait for an answer 

This isn’t in my archive but I think me shipping Ash and L’Rell was a reaction to learning that Ash wouldn’t be in S3. I was like “you’re never gonna have Ash and Michael get back together???? FINE, I don’t even WANT them to get back together anyways, fuck you!!!!! I’m gonna ship him with L’Rell now!!!!” which was an act of defiance but in truth I was really, really hurt when I found out that Ashburn was never getting back together

Also not in my archives but I was kinda ambivalent about L’Rell until I went in her tag on tumblr and found so many people shitting on her and then I was like “she’s going to be my favourite character now, isn’t she?” and I was right. (My reflex reaction to stan the fandom’s most hated characters is what I’d like to call a “Snape Instinct” and it comes from being a Snape fan for so long and not wanting a fandom to do to other people’s faves what the Harry Potter fandom did to mine)

The more I think about it, the more I agree that I never would have shipped TyRell so much, or even at all, if Ash Tyler wasn’t written off. So thanks for that I guess? But also fuck you for writing off my favourite character slash the whole reason I started watching this show in the first place oh my god 

I guess the last point I want to make is how absolutely bananas the timeline of all this is. I went from “Michael is cool, Ash is my favourite, and Ashburn is my OTP” to “Michal is okay, Ash and L’Rell are my two faves, I’m freaking heartbroken over Ashburn because I love them so much and wish they’d get back together again but I like the idea of Ash and L’Rell too” in like 1 month, then “I fucking hate Michael I think she’s the spawn of Satan, Ash and L’Rell are the only characters to ever exist in any franchise ever, and I will obsessively daydream about AUs for them every single day for hours at a time for an entire year” in like 4 months. and now finally, a full ass 13 months later, I’m able to be chill about the entire thing, let my hatred of michael go, focus on being grateful for all that Ash and L’Rell have given me instead of being sad that they’re never coming back (and TBH being a lil hopeful that they’ll come back in either SNW or the possible Section 31 show), and I’ve even started thinking about them less, really shows me that I’m letting them go

I wrote this after the end of the third season because I wanted to explore the relationship of two characters who couldn’t be more different but suddenly had this somewhat shared experience. I think I described it as my first serious piece of writing and it was. It’s not perfect but it is special to me.

24. What fic do you desperately need to rewrite or edit? Untitled and unposted Harry Potter fic. It was set the night of Harry’s parents deaths and focused on Sirius. I wrote just a few chapters but I could never get it right. I’d love to try and tackle it again. Also I’d love to rewrite “Why don’t you kiss her?” And take out the lyrics.

26. How do you come up with your fanfic titles? I try and take them from songs, films, quotes, history or something relevant to what I’m writing about.

27. What do you hate more: coming up with titles or writing summaries? That’s difficult but I think I’ll have to go with titles.

28. If someone were to draw a piece of fan art for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of? Opening Night (Glee) a behind the backs shot of Rachel & Blaine looking out to the stage and seats from the wings.

29. Do you have a beta reader? Why/Why not? No because I haven’t written since 2013 but when I get back into it soon I’d like to find one if I could.

30. What inspires you to write? Telling a story and sharing it with others and seeing how they react to it.

31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing? It’s a toss between “This was positively beautiful” from Opening Nigth (Glee) or one that’s too long to type from Miles Away From Nowhere (Bones) from teenageblockhead.

32. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspires you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you? I sometimes listen to music when I write, other times it’s a distraction and I need quiet to focus but music itself is definitely an inspiration. What genre or artist it is depends on what and who I’m writing, for example if I’m writing Neal/Kate I’d go for some tragic love song.

33. Do you write oneshots, multi-chapter fics or huuuuuge epics? I’ve written oneshots and multi-chapter fics but never huge epic ones. If I had the idea and time I definitely would try it.

34. What’s the word count on your longest fic? 7,938

35. Do you write Drabble? If so, what do you normally write them about? I’ve only ever written one drabble within a one shot multi chapter fic (lol) and it was the characters thoughts in a particular scene/episode.

36. What’s your favourite genre to write? Dramatic, Hurt/comfort.

37. First person or third person - what do you write in and why? Both and it depends on the story, chapter, character. First person is usually to get inside the characters head more and third to see the dynamic and awareness of all the characters. Am I explains that correctly? Sorry if it wasn’t that clear.

38. Do you use established canon characters or do you create OCs? I think so far I’ve only used established canon characters but I would write OCs if called for.

Never understood Kat.aang,

was quite the Zutara shipper in my teenage years. I mean it was obvious they were going for it but I just didn’t get how people could find it interesting. There’s tons of other OTPs I just don’t get. Like Sh@llura. And W0nderbat. But I don’t want to be here all day.

Indeed I have. Mostly regarding the DCEU/my criticism of the m.cu.

La’g.aan from Young Justice. He’s just annoying and I don’t see what he adds the story. But maybe season three will prove me wrong.

Most disliked arc? Why?

Okay so this is sort of out of left field: Sebastian Smythe’s arc in Glee. It could have gone some interesting places, but it just got…dropped. I hate wasted potential.

Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

Not unpopular, but more overlooked: Olive Silverlock (Gotham Academy is overlooked in general and those who like it tend to focus on Maps), Haxus from Voltron (don’t ask why), Eduardo, Tye, Virgil and Asami from Young Justice. Also, Damian Wayne. Some people REALLY hate him but I think he’s fantastic.

Same with Azula, she’s fairly polarizing but has her defenders and I am most certainly one of them.

Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

None come to mind.

Unpopular opinion about XXX character?

Prince Lotor. I think he has the potential to be a really interesting villain without a redemption arc. I also don’t want him to step on me, which seems to be a fairly unpopular opinion among those who like him. Seriously you all need to chill.

Okay you’re getting all these plus #5 because I can’t read for shit and accidentally answered five instead of four when I was looking at which numbers went with which questions.

#2 - Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP? - Anakin/Padme. I really like both characters, and I adore them as friends, but on the smokin' hot romantic chemistry meter, their level is somewhere between sub-arctic and absolute zero. I think there are tons of fascinating things to explore with their different worldviews, their different upbringings, the way their protective streaks come out around each other, etc., but I just feel absolutely nothing for them in the romantic shipping department. 

#4 - Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP? - If NoTP = I get all pissy when other people ship it because I think I’m some sort of divinely appointed fanfic cop, then hell fucking no. If NoTP = a ship that personally annoys me so I avoid it, then...yeah. Guilty. Obi-Wan/Satine just bores the hell out of me. I know it's got basis in canon, and it's fine if it's used as a springboard for Anakin to troll the hell out of Obi-Wan, or it's just mentioned as some shit that happened in the past, or if it shows up in a fic to serve some other narrative purpose, but in and of itself, snoooooore. Satine in general is just boring af, and the only uses I really have for her are as a plot device or a character foil for characters I actually care about.* (Gotta say though, the "collection of half-truths and hyperbole known as Obi-Wan Kenobi" line was pure gold. Gotta give credit where it's due.)

*If anyone is gonna try and send anon wank turning this into a feminist or an “stfu obikin jerkface!” issue, get bent. There are plenty of female SW characters I totally dig - Leia is a goddess, Ahsoka is an unmitigated badass, Padme kicks all sorts of booty in all sorts of ways. My issue with Satine is that she's boring, not that she's female and/or hogging Obi-Wan's coc...*ahem*...lightsaber away from Anakin.

#5 - Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you? - Not the SW fandom, but the Potter fandom really made me start disliking Remus/Sirius. NOT because I didn't love the pairing, and definitely not because a bunch of antis wanted to whine about it (we really didn't have the aggressively virulent brand of tumblr antis back in the LJ days, just the "durrrr, pffffft, ur ship iz teh suxx0r bcuz minez better" tripe), but because I saw it written so so often, so so poorly. Author after author tried to turn them into a couple of gay stereotypes with leather pants and effeminate mannerisms and the whole nine yards as opposed to just staying true to the characters, and alas, they wrecked the Good Ship Dogstar. IDK if that was the case with all slash pairings back in the early/mid 2000s (I kinda got the impression it was since I heard similar complaints from Harry/Draco fans), but it was pretty annoying.

#6 - Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated? - Not really. I've seen some pairings I'm normally just sorta "meh" about written well enough that I enjoyed it, but even then, I was only into it in the context of that story, done by that author. Good characterization and good storytelling are enjoyable even if it's not my OTP, but I've never had a ship that I flat-out hated turn into something I actively sought out. I will say fandom has definitely piqued my interest in Vader/Aphra, but that was never something I hated - I just wasn't aware of who Aphra even was until fandom informed me.

#8 - Have you received anon hate? What about? - LMAO YES YES YES! It feeds my soul, it brings me glee, and it only makes me stronger! Faster! Better! TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL, AND I SEASON MY FOOD WITH THE MOUNTAIN OF SALT EXTRACTED FROM THE FLOWING RIVER OF ANTIS' BITTER TEARS! *ahem* Anyways! Usuuuually the anon hate has been some sort of shipper wank related to Obikin (omg how dare I enjoy things!) and another time it was in response to me saying I thought AO3 had the right idea by refusing to censor "objectionable" content (omg how dare I think other people should be able to enjoy things too!) - Basically, the common trend is whiny little pissbabies taking a dump in my inbox because they're mad at me for saying people should be allowed to tell fictional stories and stuff. (O THE DEPRAVITY!) There was also this one really weird anon who was trying to goad me into flaming someone after some 15-year-old troll started shipper wank, but TBH I never really did understand what that person's goal was other than possibly stirring drama, so I can't say for certain what it was really about in the first place.

#21 - What are your thoughts on crack ships?  -  They're good for a few lulz, but that's about it. I mean, if someone REALLY wants to get excited about Threepio doing the horizontal file transfer with Jar-Jar Binks or whatever, more power to 'em, but that shit ain't my scene. Chances are I'll read the summary, laugh hysterically, and move the fuck on. I do have a soft spot for well done satire though, so if somebody drops a clever joke fic with a crack pairing, I'm all over it. (There was one a while back on AO3 where the pairing was Kylo Ren/Darth Vader's Helmet. Yes, really. Some friends and I did rock/paper/scissors to see who had to read it and report back to the others. I lost. The fic turned out to be really hilarious trollfic/spoofitry, but alas, I can't seem to find it to share with the rest of the class. Yes, I did go look.)
