Title: Escape
Pairing: Peter Maximoff x Reader
Notes: Actual pairing interaction starts in the second section after the Reader character gets out of the elevator, feel free to skip down to that if you like. Reader thinks about Peter in the first section, but it is more setting up how they got so separated from the others, plus a Wolvie cameo. I wanted Peter x Reader to be able to have more interaction away from the group.
Summary: Continuation of previous chapter. Set during X-Men: Age of Apocalypse. You and the others have been taken to Stryker’s base and must survive to find your way out together.
Warnings: Wolverine cameo advisory with a 100% chance of stabby stab. Mild language.
Chapters: Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

Peter Maximoff x Reader Masterlist
——————————
“The day of reckoning is here.”
Your eyes opened at once, that unmistakeable voice now reverberating through your mind as fluorescent lights passed one after another above you.
“Professor?” You breathed aloud, immediately trying to sit up on the moving gurney.
But the restraints were drawn too tightly as your head only rebounded backward just as quickly when your torso didn’t rise in tandem.
“Shit!” the guard to your left cursed, his hand drawing back from the gurney rail at your sudden movement.
You turned your head towards him, confused, even as the professor’s words continued in your mind.
Yet Xavier’s voice sounded strange, forced. And you didn’t understand the context. Was it a warning? A threat to someone?
It didn’t really seem to fit the current circumstances to say it was directed at you or your captors. But he only kept speaking.
“The dawn of a new era will emerge. For there is nothing you can do...to stop what is coming.”
The two guards were looking around too then, reacting in sync with the telepathic message leaving you no doubt that they could hear it as well.
But why would Xavier be in their heads too? Did he already know where you were?
One guard chided the other, as if the two of them didn’t both have the same frightened expression. “Damn stun pulse is wearing off it is all, just hurry up and finish this transport. Colonel Stryker wants it taken to the lower testing bay,”
“Don’t tell me you aren’t hearing that voice?” The other guard retorted, “What the hell is that?”
Did they just call you an ‘it’? What was this place? Not a hospital surely. But you could barely dwell on the implications of the guard’s words ‘lower testing bay’, and the impending threat that represented as your last memories finally began to bubble up.
The X-Mansion in rubble, the helicopters swooping in over the trees, the students and staff unconscious in the grass, that soldier cracking your ribs, and-
Peter.
He was a stranger to you still, but he’d been right there against you. Surely you had drawn more attention to him just because your powers had let you resist a few moments longer than the others. Because you’d been so stubborn, not going down until you’d been forced to.
If these men had hurt any of your friends, you would be furious. But if Peter, who had also saved so many of your friends was now in more severe danger because of your actions, you wouldn’t forgive yourself.
“Where did you take the others!?” You arched against the restraints abruptly, your palms opening to face upward, trying to summon any bit of your energy at all. A wisp, an orb, anything that could have helped you right now. You had to find your friends.
But nothing came. Not even a glow or flicker of what you truly were as you now had both guards’ full attention.
“Freak! Just shut up!” One of them shoved the gurney in retaliation to your outburst, the caster wheels rattling across the concrete floor before the bed rail hit against one of the walls, jarring you painfully.
“Those with the greatest power. Protect those without. That's my message to the world.”
Xavier concluded his words then. And somehow, that sounded more like himself than any of the rest of it. The real meaning still eluded you, but hearing him in that tone at least meant he was okay. He was somewhere urging the rest of you on. At least this part you knew was true as you took a calming breath, realizing panic and anger would serve you nothing right now.
Something was blocking your powers. That much was obvious. It would be unrealistic to think that the effects of any stun weapon would be this long lasting though.
On the other hand, you knew chemicals existed that could also temporarily block mutations. Hank used one almost medicinally whenever he didn’t wish to be in his true “Beast” form. But it had to be injected direct into the veins to have any real effect.
You could feel that they hadn’t removed any of your clothing, nor had they rolled up the long sleeves you were wearing. You doubted they would risk a chemical like that wearing off at an inopportune time and likely would have started an IV if they possessed anything of that nature.
There were no tubes or lines attached to you that you could tell, only the restraints now holding you to this bed. Leather straps across your body, metal cuffs on your ankles and wrists-
But wait, you were able to move your head as you’d already discovered. You shifted it again, trying to get a better feel of what was around your neck. Metal as well, but loose as you could still lift your head up enough to see it just a bit. It and its dull, red status light.
Inhibitor collar, you realized with an all new dread sinking in. You had heard of these of course, but it was the kind of thing that students sheltered at Xavier’s school would never have to dream of really. Something you never thought you’d have to experience personally.
How naive.
But you still couldn’t give up. Your mind was racing as you tried to come up with any strategies now. Your options were so limited, but they couldn’t keep you tied down forever. Surely they’d have to move you to a more permanent containment at some point, untie you if even for a moment.
Yet, there were guns as well. You hadn’t missed that detail, but you considered it more fully now as you glanced to the long barrells swaying behind each guard’s back as they pushed you along.
They were slowing now though. You raised your head enough again to see elevator doors nearing. The lower testing bay, you remembered them saying.
But just as one guard had started to reach for the keypad beside the doors, an alarm blared, all three of you startling at the sound.
Orange lights lit up along the walls, spinning in time with the sirens.
“Weapon X is loose. I repeat, Weapon X is loose!” A man’s unnerved voice sounded over speakers you couldn’t see, echoing down the corridors.
You could only watch as both guards spun around on their heels at that, guns immediately drawn. The one thing you could be absolutely sure of then, was that you were now the very least of their concerns.
Before you could consider how to use this surprise in your favor though, screams and the echo of gunfire erupted seemingly on top of you all.
The guards were terrified. This could be your only chance.
“Take this collar off of me, please! I can help you!” You weren’t begging as much as you were truly trying to reason with them. “Look, this is serious right!?”
More men were screaming just around the corner. Only feet away now. Clearly their time to consider had run out.
You saw one of the guards glance down at you, weighing your offer if just for that moment. The other was still staring straight ahead, gun braced, body rigid.
“FIRE!” The one not looking at you screamed, and that was it. It was too late.
You flinched as the gunfire rang deafening in your ears, the muzzle flashes just above you while empty bullet shells rained onto the floor.
You didn’t know how many bullets their gun magazines could hold, but the barrage seemed to just go on and on until an inhuman snarl rose even above the pounding gunshots.
Like a blur he was upon them. One guard was immediately thrown against a nearby wall, as if he were made of paper. His gun didn’t even faze the attacker.
You were frozen as you had to watch him die in front of you. Metal blades impaled the guard, blood splatter running down the wall as his body fell. You wished the other guard would have just turned and ran, but that probably would have been fruitless now too if you were being honest.
The attacker had turned immediately back around, one slash knocking the gun away from the remaining guard, and the second taking out his throat.
You were too in shock to do anything but close your eyes in the moment you felt some of the blood hit you. It was warm was all you could really process, before you opened your eyes again to now see the killer standing over you.
His breath was fast, eyes black, no emotion evident but rage. He had no clothing on him above the waist, just muscular and bloodied with metal cords coming out of his body and attaching to some sort of helmet.
You heard the random sound of more bits of metal hitting the ground, and thought you saw a few bullets working out in reverse from his flesh.
He was one of you then, a mutant.
But you were afraid to speak. Anything could set him off again.
He was looking down at you, through you really. You thought you saw his eyes go to your throat. The collar? Or maybe you just imagined it. Everything was happening in just seconds.
His arm swung suddenly, those blades were part of him you realized, attached to his fists as they came for you. At least it would be a quick death.
You felt a burning, heard ripping and even the metal of the bed breaking as he struck more than once.
“He’s here!” Someone else screamed from back down the hallway and the gunfire started all over again.
You moved at the sound, why you didn’t know, it should have been all over regardless. But in your amazement, you realized you could move. His claws had broken through the restraints, broken the bolts that held you to the bed. You were bleeding, but only from cuts as he’d grazed you.
He’d freed you.
The gurney tumbled over with a clatter as you jumped from it. But bullets were hitting all around you as the guards continued to fire at him. You still had the inhibitor collar on, so you couldn’t defend from that. You weren’t bulletproof like him.
And he was already charging them again, but there were so many this time. A bullet grazed your arm, and you knew you had to get out of there now.
You turned, hitting the elevator keypad. You had no choice as you wouldn’t make it out of this hallway otherwise. You ducked inside as soon as the doors opened, trying to stay against the sides even as bullets were now hitting the back of the elevator. The only way was down, and you took it.
As the doors closed, and the elevator finally sank below the firing line, you allowed yourself some real breaths.
To think, just hours ago your main concern had only been whether or not you were ready for Hank’s organic chemistry final. You’d laugh if you weren’t still trembling a little, clothes torn and blood all over, most of it not even your own.
Now it was time to find the others and a way out.
—————————
“(Y/N)?” You heard in your mind, pausing in the abandoned hallway you were now wandering down. You’d left the elevator behind some time ago, but hadn’t yet found any other way back off this level.
“Jean?” You answered aloud, both surprised and relieved. “Are you okay?”
“Yes. We are now. I saw them take you too, but where are you?”
Talking to a telepath was always a bit strange. You could feel her own stress and anxiety as she began to fill your mind. She wanted to see what you were seeing.
You looked around you to oblige her, but from what you could tell every corridor only looked like more of the same in this labyrinth.
“I got into an elevator when all the shooting started, when that man-“
“Logan. We met him too. He’s escaped now, he-” She paused, your recent memories now visible to her. “He helped you.”
“He did.” You felt she both was and wasn’t surprised at this.
“Anyway,” She continued as if something was distracting her, like she was physically talking to someone else, while mentally talking to you. “The Professor needs us. We’re sending Peter to find you. He’ll bring you to us and then we’re leaving together.”
“Okay,” Was all you could answer, as you felt Jean leave your mind abruptly at that. You remembered Xavier’s odd speech earlier, something you really hadn’t had time to deconstruct any further with everything else that had happened immediately after. You supposed they would fill you in when you were all reunited.
But you did feel a significant weight leave your shoulders at the mention of Peter’s name, even though it sounded like this horrific day was still far from over. He was okay too then at least. You hadn’t screwed up enough to get him hurt in a way you couldn’t take back.
Yet how long would it take for him to find you? Should you just stay in place, or go back to the elevator now? You hadn’t found any stairwells or other-
“(Y/N)?”
You’d be lying to say you didn’t almost fall over in surprise as a tiny gust of air was the only other thing that announced him as Peter was suddenly standing beside you.
“You’re as bad as Kurt!” You gasped, before you could stop yourself. You clenched one fist at your side, at least having the self control not to punch him right in the arm as you might have done with some of the boys at school if they had given you that kind of scare.
“That’s the blue kid with the tail right? Not to be confused with the big blue hairy guy, he’s the one that told me your name by the way, or the blue famous chick from TV?” He shook his head, but his eyes were amused. “You guys have some kind of quota on the color blue or what?”
You stared at him. He did like to talk didn’t he?
When you didn’t respond right away, you saw his eyes wander down, then back up. “Red said you’d be a bit of a mess, but you sure you’re okay?”
Your shirt was torn from well, now you knew him as Logan...that man’s claws. Those cuts were still bleeding a bit, but the guard’s blood was on you as well. The metal shackles were also still on your wrists and ankles, though their chains had been broken, and the inhibitor collar was around your neck. Yes, you must look quite a sight.
“You mean Jean,” you corrected. She must have given him some warning at least before sending him. “Yeah, I’m fine. So you found another way out of here, we should-”
But he didn’t seem to be listening, either that or you weren’t very convincing on the being okay sentiment.
He looked quite serious all of the sudden. “I’m sorry I didn’t help you when Colonel douchebag was trying to work you over.”
You blinked. What was he talking about?
“Stryker I guess they said his name was, the guy that kicked you back at the house.” He just continued. “That piece of shit bailed already.”
“How did you know about that?” You asked honestly. Peter had been unconscious as far as you’d known.
“I mean I was in and out,” He answered, seemingly understanding your confusion now. “But uh...” He hesitated, kind of an awkward smirk building then. “I definitely remember you laying on me. The impact wasn’t that great, but afterward was pretty nice.”
Your felt a heat rising to your face immediately. The absurdity of being physically embarrassed at his implication and tone, as you stood here literally bleeding in the belly of some mutant torturing black ops lab was not lost on you.
“Look, I...” You didn’t even know what to say, but you knew if you didn’t start talking now you were never going to recover control here. “I’m really glad they didn’t hurt you, and I’m sorry too if I got you involved deeper in all of this. And I want to thank you for pulling everyone out of the mansion this morning. We owe you so much. I just-” Oh man, where were you even going with this? You looked to him still feeling like you were just digging yourself deeper, “You can stop me anytime now you know?”
He was now outright grinning. “You’re welcome, babe.”
Not helping. AT ALL.
You were staring at him again. “They’re going to be waiting on us, you know,” You felt you were going to be pleading with him in a moment.
“I know, places to be, worlds to save...” He just moved closer and you tensed a little bit. He noticed, but stood his ground. “I have to brace you or you’re just going to be hurt even more when I run you back to them.”
“So is that how you do it, then? You’re just that fast?” You asked honestly. His actual mutation wasn’t something there’d been any chance to discuss. You could infer only so many ways he would have been able to evacuate those in the mansion almost instantaneously. But you knew teleporters too, even people who could move through reality on other planes. There was always more than one way to do something.
“I’ll show you mine if you show me yours,” He chuckled, smirking enough for you to know he was still just picking with you as one of his hands went behind your head and the other to your ribs to brace you. He really did know where you’d been hit then.
His hands were warm, and you could smell that damn cologne again now as you tried to ready yourself for whatever was about to happen.
You didn’t know what you had expected. You knew how it felt to take off in a jet, or slam the gas pedal down in one of the Professor’s expensive cars, or ride on a really intense roller coaster. But this wasn’t that. There wasn’t even any time for your brain to register the acceleration. It felt like just a single heartbeat before you were standing back in front of those elevator doors with him.
It was the deceleration that hit you. By the time your body knew it was moving, it had already stopped again, your organs lurching and your equilibrium completely thrown off as vertigo took over. You leaned forward immediately, trying not to dry heave as puking seemed almost imminent.
He took one of your hands, his other hand moving down from your ribs to your waist as he helped support you still.
“It’ll pass. It happens to everyone the first time,” He spoke, probably the softest tone you’d heard from him to this point.
“You’re telling me there are people who have been-” You swallowed, fighting that nausea back down. “have been with you multiple times?” You meant to say multiple times like that. People who needed to be rescued this way multiple times. You stood up, still queasy as you tried to face him and correct this blunder immediately. Why did this guy have you so flustered!?
“I’m not normally like this,” you stammered, waiting for some great retort from him as you’d just left yourself wide open with that slip.
It was only then that you realized he still had one hand on your waist, and you were now facing him, just inches apart. And the silence was worse. It was much worse while he was just looking back at you.
“No,” He finally said, “I uh...I don’t have anyone that’s stayed around long enough for that.”
He wasn’t joking at all now and you knew it.
“I didn’t mean...” You started, but stopped again when you didn’t know how to finish.
But the vulnerability was gone just as soon as it’d come. His smirk returned as he let go of you, moving forward to hit the keypad for the elevator. “I did look for stairwells by the way, if you were wondering. It only took me as long as it did to find you down here because this damn elevator is slow as hell.”
You actually were a little relieved to finally be focusing back to the task at hand. But you still felt an unspoken conversation lingering that would need to be continued later. You wanted him to know who you really were.
And honestly...you now wanted to know who he really was.
The harsh buzz from the keypad brought you back to attention as Peter hit it again.
A tiny screen blinked “CODE ERROR” in red as he groaned. “It didn’t need a damn code to come down, that makes no sense!”
You responded in a few moments, realizing the likely truth fairly quickly. “But it would make sense if you were more concerned about things getting out of the lab than you were of things getting in.” The same would be true for the lack of entry and exit points. They surely weren’t concerned with fire safety or anything else but keeping their specimens captive when they built this place.
“Ugh, that’s dark,” He answered, glancing at you and then back to the keypad. “You’re almost making me not feel so bad for all the guys that looked like swiss cheese on the way down here. But lucky for you, you’ve got me, and these five hombres.” He waved his fingers at you before immediately beginning to punch in multiple codes in faster succession than of course would have been possible for anyone else.
“Peter, I don’t think-” You started, already having a good suspicion of how this might play out, before the keypad abruptly quit accepting inputs, the tiny screen then blinking LOCKOUT. The only thing that did surprise you was a new even thicker door suddenly closing over the original elevator doors.
And you couldn’t help it then. You laughed. A real laugh. It was just the dumbest icing on the cake. “Okay, Han Solo. I think that will do.” You didn’t care if he would understand the reference or not. You needed that laugh right now.
But he didn’t let you down. Not even for a moment. “Okay then Leia, then you show me how we’re getting past here to save the ugly little ewoks.”
You were still snickering a little, but you shook your head. “I can’t,” You motioned to the inhibitor collar still around your neck. “Not with this on. It’s blocking my powers.” You had hoped once you were all back topside that Hank would be able to disarm the thing. It was probably radio controlled or something like that. “We’ll have to wait on Jean and the others to realize we’re taking too long, they’ll come for us.”
“I don’t wait,” Peter retorted. “Besides, like I said, I showed you mine. Time to show me yours.” He tilted his head, eyeing you. “Really, I’ve been dying to know.”
“Sure you have,” You were skeptical, but it was actually hard to read him right now. Was he actually that curious about you? “And I’ve already tried to take it off, it doesn’t budge.”
“Again, babe. You didn’t have me before.” The smug tone was back, as he evidently had some plan you didn’t know if you were going to like or not.
“You realize, this thing is nearly against my jugular veins, right? What are you going to do?” You had every right to be hesitant you thought. Especially after the keypad failure.
“Just be still. I’m going to vibrate it apart.” He answered confidently.
Okay, now you really didn’t like this. “Again, head, throat, things I need to stay in one piece. What if it has some self destruct thing and explodes?”
“I can pull you away from that before it even burns you. How do you think your friends lived when your house blew up this morning?”
You could have mentioned Alex’s fate then, but that would have been needlessly cruel. Alex must have already been gone before Peter even entered the building. He did save everyone else you thought.
“Trust me,” Peter looked you in the eyes and you could feel yourself relenting.
You really did believe him it seemed. Hopefully that faith was not misplaced. “Please be careful,” You closed your eyes, going stock still.
“For you? Of course.”
You heard his jacket move, which told you he was raising his arms. Internally you tensed-
And then all you heard were pieces of metal and circuitry skittering across the floor in every direction. You were still standing exactly as you had been as you opened your eyes to a too pleased with himself Peter.
“Some shrapnel did try to go into your face, but I moved the pieces. No kaboom though.” His expression changed then to happily expectant, “So come on, I’ve helped three times now, the stage is now yours,” He made an exagerrated motion to the big metal door now blocking the elevator. “What’s your poison?”
Poison? An interesting way to put it, but you knew what he meant. All mutant abilities were both a gift and a curse. Yet even after all these years of meeting people of your own kind, it was still very personal to show someone your real self for the very first time.
Especially when you evidently cared what he thought of you as you realized your nerves were suddenly about much more than just being able to get open a door or not. How would he react?
You took a breath, still extremely aware of his eyes on you as you turned your palms upward. It was always easiest to start with your hands. But you’d need to bring the energy all the way through you to get the kind of power it was going to take to pull this door out.
There was a slight relief in you as your hands began to glow white after a moment. At least you knew you were no longer defenseless, that these people hadn’t taken your abilities permanently.
In your peripheral vision you could see Peter shift, but you didn’t look to him, trying to concentrate as the energy spread up your arms and you closed your eyes. It always felt so warm, like being in the sun on a clear day. It spread to your chest, legs, up your shoulders and over your face. Even through your hair as you willed the energy to lift you up, now completely enveloped until you were a silhouette of a person. Glowing in soft white light and levitating about a foot off the floor.
You opened your eyes again, feeling you had things in control enough now to speak to him. The tone of your voice changed slightly in this form though. There was a hum to it, the energy moving across your vocal chords like every other part of you.
“I’m going to try and pull the door out of the way and into the hall. Please be ready to move as I won’t have a lot of control over it once it gives. My effort is going to all be on breaking it.”
You looked to him after a moment though when he didn’t respond. You knew he was fast enough to keep himself safe obviously, but you had to be sure he was ready. Was he really just staring at you? “Peter?”
He blinked. “Yeah, uh. That’s...” He stepped back from the door, but never took his eyes off you, this weird expression on his face. “That’s cool.”
“Please mind the door,” You reiterated gently, not quite sure what to make of his reaction to your powers.
“Sure, sure thing.” He sounded more like himself then. “Do your deal.”
Your deal as he put it, involved willing this same energy now in a field around the door as you rose your hand up to control it. Once you were sure you had it solidly, you began pulling your hand back, trying to pull the door out of its railing.
It gradually started to creak, but like you’d thought, this was going to take some real doing. You pulled harder and harder, the metal just groaning louder. “Come on,” You spoke, not really sure if you were talking more to yourself or the door.
Your arm was starting to really ache with the effort. But just when you thought you might have to try something else after all, you finally felt the door give. And when it gave, it did so spectacularly. This massive chunk of metal collapsed, exploding out of its rail as it rocketed down the hallway. You just moved to the side to avoid it, the smaller pieces hitting you harmlessly in this form.
To your eyes it only looked like Peter disappeared and then reappeared as he also easily missed all the debris.
Once that obstacle was out of the way, you glided down, back to the normal elevator doors. They were slightly damaged from the removal of the larger door. But now it only took minimum effort to force them open.
You entered the elevator, the inner keypad was also blinking that same “LOCKOUT” error from earlier. So the elevator itself was going nowhere. But this was now no longer an issue for you.
“I can carry us up,” You looked to Peter, though unsure how comfortable he would be with this new idea.
He was standing at the entrance of the elevator already, watching you still. You could see the wheels in his head turning. And then he finally asked. “So, you’re glowing...and flying. Is this like radioactive glow, or I just need some sunscreen kind of glow?”
“It’s just light energy in the visible spectrum.” You answered reflexively. “But not even UV, the wavelength itself doesn’t cause any damage. It’s only when I make it solid or make it unstable that I can do anything harmful with it.”
You could see he may have skipped the lessons on long and short wave energy and radiation in science class as he just kept staring.
“You’re fine, it’s safe” You smiled. Certainly not the first time you had heard such questions. “The Professor and Hank had me tested from the very beginning, I never would have been allowed so close to other students without more precautions if I was that dangerous.”
“So you’re...close to some other students?” He asked almost tauntingly, one eyebrow raised, and it took you a moment before you realized he may be getting back at you for your comments from before.
It was probably just the fact that you were in your energy form now, but you felt confident enough to respond just as quickly, “It’s more like the Brady Bunch than what you’re thinking. Like having a whole house of little brothers and sisters.”
You had already opened up the ceiling of the elevator while the two of you talked, looking up now to the empty shaft and elevator cables. It’d be much easier to move the two of you rather than to try and lift the whole elevator. You reached a hand out to Peter. “I can lift us up the shaft to the floor that the others are on and open the doors, then you can take us to them. Deal?”
You had trusted him to bring you here, as well as to remove that collar from you. Would he now trust you to bring him up several floors without dropping him?
He was looking at your hand. “I probably could just run up the walls you know.”
You paused, realizing you hadn’t considered that. You didn’t really know what all he was capable of truly. But just as you started to lower your hand, he surprised you by grabbing and holding it.
“Yet how many guys can say they flew with you, huh?”
“Practically none,” You admitted. “I don’t make a habit of picking up my friends.”
“You aren’t quite building confidence here.”
“I’m sure that door weighed more than you.”
“And look how it ended up. Again, not comforting.”
This guy was truly something else. “Come here, we take much longer and they really are going to be sending a search party for us.”
You extended the energy from your hand across his body gently. He was obviously much lighter than the door, and the closer you kept him, the easier it would be to move the both of you.
You tried not to make eye contact with him again as you levitated the two of you through the top of the elevator and up through the shaft. Even though you knew you were fully capable of doing this, you still didn’t want to lose focus.
But his voice didn’t sound frightened at all as he spoke up to let you know how high to go. “They’re on the top floor, we’re stealing a jet to get out of here.”
“Wow, but okay. Got it,” You sped up a little at that, no longer worried about passing your landing point as you went straight to the top.
When you reached the highest doors, you were able to force them open with a turn of your free hand, bringing you and Peter safely through and back onto solid ground.
You powered down immediately as your feet met the floor, the light fading back into your body until you were just standing there in your torn, bloody clothes once more. “Okay, I’m ready to get nauseous again, let’s go.”
He actually squeezed your hand before he let go of it in order to brace your head and ribs again. “For the record that felt pretty good. You’re really warm. Zero g’s was cool too. Thanks.”
“Um...you’re welcome?” You answered, a little flustered all over again to your own dismay, and really not knowing what else to say before he whisked you away in an instant.
It really was going to be the longest day ever.

Tumblr media
I saw Arvin’s hands shaking fiercely. The sun was nearly lowered over the distant mountains and people in this town were sure to talk about how the orphan Russell boy had come and picked me up this close to night, but I knew Arvin. He wasn’t very talkative, so his affection (and I use that term lightly) came in other ways. He always let me have his last cigarette, even though I barely smoked. He had saved a seat on the school bus for me, back before we graduated. He was kind, just not in the ways that Coal Creek knew. I knew, when I heard Arvin’s old ‘51 Chevy in front of my house, that he needed me; I jumped in his car before my mom had time to tell me to get dressed decently.
“Arv,” I whispered. “What’s going on? Where’re we going?”
Arvin took a deep breath, but he didn’t answer. He looked out his window before returning his gaze to the front windshield, and his fingers began to tap on his steering wheel. “He killed my Lenora,” he mumbled finally. “Light me a smoke, would ya?”
It took a moment for his words to register. Ever since Lenora died, Arvin had become distant, nearly a whole different man. He went to work and went back to his grandmother’s house. He barely made time for me anymore. That was alright, though; he had lost the only person he had ever really loved. I couldn’t blame him. I wasn’t much to him, other than someone who tolerated him.
“I thought Lenora…” I began and swallowed my words. He had requested a cigarette. I reached into the backseat where his jacket was slung and tugged out his crushed box of cigarettes and a matchbox, and I lit him a cigarette. I passed it to him, and he carefully took it between his fingers.
“Ain’t you gonna take the first gasp?” Arvin asked, managing a weak chuckle. His eyes were dark and focused, and there was nothing behind his smile. Levity, I assumed, to make me feel better about whatever was happening.
“My mama would skin me if I came home smelling like smoke,” I said, wrapping my arms around myself. “Go ‘head, Arv.”
Arvin lifted his hand to his mouth, his thin lips wrapping around the end, and he took a deep pull at it. He blew the smoke out of his nose, and he said, “Lenora did it to herself, yeah, but he made her do it. He drove her to it.”
“Who’s he?” I asked.
“Did that Teagardin son ova bitch ever lay his hands on you?” Arvin asked quickly. His gaze flicked to me, curled up next to him, still wearing my house shoes and pajamas. No makeup, no cover-up; I would be the talk of the town the next morning, I knew it.
“Pastor Teagardin?” I clarified, and Arvin nodded. “No. He tried, though, I think. Once.”
“Ya think?” Arvin repeated. “God damn it, Y/N, what he’d do to you?”
“He didn’t do nothing,” I said quickly. “He’s old enough to be my daddy, ya know how sick that is?”
“You said he tried,” Arvin rebutted. “Tried to do what?”
I huffed out a breath. “I stayed after a service on Wednesday night a few months ago to help Mrs. Teagardin gather up hymns and stuff. She went off to do something, and Brother Preston approached me. Said he… Said he saw me hanging out with you… Saw us drinking and smoking… And he said I gotta repent for my sins. Jesus, the man thought we fucked. He made me get down on my knees to pray, but I heard his belt ‘fore anything happened. Told him I’d call the sheriff on him if he tried anything like that again.”
Arvin breathed deeply, his grip tightening on the steering wheel. “That’s three,” he said. “You, the Reaster girl… and Lenora.”
My heart sank into my stomach. As much as I loved Lenora, she was naive. From the day that she was born, she trusted everybody. If she had ever been with someone, they took advantage of her. Maybe not with violence, but advantage nonetheless. “No,” I mumbled. “He didn’t… Not her.”
“Coroner said Lenora was pregnant,” Arvin told me. He situated his cigarette in his mouth, and his hand floated down to rest on my knee. “I just know it was him. Who the fuck else would it be?”
“Arvin, what’re you doing?” I asked. “Where’re we going?”
“I’m going down to that church,” Arvin began. “And I’m killing that son of a bitch Pastor Teagardin.”
“Arvin!” I yelped. “You’re not! You can’t-- How--?”
The car rolled to a stop in front of the small church, the gravel crunching under the tires. Arvin squeezed my knee, shutting me up, and he leaned forward and dug around behind him for a moment. Slowly, from the back of his pants, Arvin pulled out a small revolver gun. My breath caught in my throat; Arvin was rough around the edges, sure, but never did I think I would see him with a gun in his hands. My Arvin looked so unsure of the weapon, but his thumb clicked the hammer back, readying it to shoot, and I saw something behind his eyes change. He wasn’t vindictive, but revenge was a choice that had to be made. Arvin made his choice.
“A German luger,” Arvin mumbled, his cigarette still in his mouth. “My daddy told my uncle Earvell that it’s the gun Hitler killed himself with.”
I couldn’t manage any words. My lips fell open in shock, my brain struggling to make any coherent thought out of what was happening. “Arvin,” I finally choked out. “You ain’t really gonna kill Pastor Teagardin, are you?”
“He killed my sister,” Arvin said, his voice low in his chest. “He tried to hurt you. Who says he won’t try that shit again?”
“Arvin, you don’t need to avenge me,” I said quickly. My hands grasped his, and I fumbled with his fingers to release the gun. “Lenora wouldn’t want this.”
“How do you know?” Arvin asked. His eyes, the color of dark West Virginian molasses, locked on mine, and his hands came up to capture my face. He was shaking violently, and I wasn’t sure that he would even be able to hold his gun. “None of us will ever know what Lenora would want. I knew her better than goddamn anyone else on this earth, and I think I know. I know, Y/N. And even if he didn’t manage to hurt you, it’s the thought that he would try that-- I don’t know how many other girls he’s got to. I’m doing this whole damn town a service by getting rid of him.”
I gulped in a breath, trying to stop myself from crying. “What’re ya gonna do once you’re done?” I asked. “You can’t stay here.”
“I’m not,” Arvin said. “I don’t know where I’m gonna go, but far away from fuckin’ Coal Creek. I want you to come with me.”
“Arv, I got my family here,” I said quickly. “My momma and my daddy, I can’t just leave them.”
“Y/N,” Arvin sighed heavily. His eyes softened and his thumb pressed into my cheek kindly, and he said, “I can’t leave you here. I love you too damn much.”
“Arvin Russell, I love you too, but I--” I began. “I can’t.”
“Y/N,” Arvin said firmly. “I love you. And I want you to come with me.”
This was different. Arvin had told me that he loved me before, but I always thought he had meant “as a friend” or “as a sister”. Had I been mistaken this whole time? Did Arvin care for me differently than he could ever care for Lenora? “You…” I started. “You love me?”
“I’ve loved you since the day I laid my eyes on you,” Arvin told me. “Fucking seventh grade, your hair was in these little braids, you offered me a seat on the school bus. I thought it was… A crush. But Lenora showed me real love, and I know that I love you. I have always loved you, Y/N. Please, wherever I go, I can’t go without you. I need you, love.”
Tears were welled up in Arvin’s eyes, and he sniffled back his emotions. I hated that. Arvin always tried to hide his emotions and, ever since I had known him, he had only cried in front of me once: the night Lenora died, he came to my house, eyes puffy, and he buried his head in my chest and heaved sobs into me. The strangled sounds of anguish had stayed with me and haunted me in the night, and I never wanted to see Arvin hurting like that again. “Okay,” I whispered. “I’ll come with you.”
Arvin nodded slowly. The tip of his tongue wet his bottom lip as he looked behind me to the small church, Pastor Teagardin’s fancy Cadillac parked in front. “Now, I don’t know what’s gonna happen in there,” he began. “Gimme an hour. If I ain’t back by then, leave. Get outta here, you never knew me. Alright?”
“You don’t think you’d…” I started, and the ache in my heart forced me to stop talking. “Don’t die, Arv. My heart couldn’t take it.” A moment passed where the both of us were still and silent, and finally Arvin’s hand carefully moved to the back of my neck. Quietly, he pulled me close to him and pressed his lips to mine, and my stomach flipped around inside of my body. I had never kissed anyone before, but his kiss felt right. Arvin broke the kiss first, his lips lingering just before mine, and I thought about how my momma had told me that boys didn’t like when girls made the first move. Arvin had kissed me first, though, so, if I kissed back, that wasn’t making the first move. My momma was forever concerned with how people saw me, but, if I was going to run away with a man about to murder, I felt like maybe those societal pleasantries could be pushed aside.
I took Arvin’s coat collar in my hands and tugged him closer, and I reconnected our lips. Arvin was on the same page as me, his hands falling to my waist as easily as if he had done it a hundred times before. His kiss was hungry, like a man depraved, and he guided me to lean against the car door. He moved on top of me, one hand moving above my head to brace against the car door, his other hand pushing my shirt up to expose my stomach. I knew he wanted to see more but was waiting for my permission, and I broke the kiss with a laugh. “This ain’t like ya, Arv,” I giggled.
Arvin seemed to almost wake up, and he moved away from me. “Sorry,” he said, his voice rumbling. “Don’t know what got into me--”
“I didn’t tell you to stop,” I told him. “I was saying that you don’t normally ask for permission to do things, you just… Do.”
“When it comes to pretty girls, I always ask,” Arvin told me. He hovered over me again, his eyes drinking in the sight of me, and I pushed the rugged ball cap off of his head to expose his chestnut hair.
“Got a lotta experience with pretty girls, huh?” I asked, and the corner of Arvin’s mouth quirked into a devilish smile.
“Well, we doin’ this now, ain’t we?” Arvin asked. “I’m thinking this is all the experience I need.”
“Shut your fucking mouth and kiss me, Arv,” I scoffed, and Arvin dove back in. His palm rested on my jaw, his thumb on my cheek, and he kissed me like nobody has ever kissed me. His warm tongue was inside my mouth, drawing quiet moans from the depths of my chest, and his free hand pulled my shirt up, up, up, until I was forced to pull away from his mouth to tug it over my head. My mouth felt chapped from his dark stubble, but my breasts welcomed the roughness. He kissed my mouth, then my neck, then situated himself to bury his face between my breasts. He kissed them, then took one in his hand and squeezed until I whimpered, and I felt him smirk against my tender skin.
“Ya like that, darlin’?” Arvin rasped, and I nodded quickly. “I thought so. You’re making such damn pretty noises, I could listen forever.”
Arvin’s kisses trailed down the middle of my chest, then his mouth refocused on my nipple, stiffened with excitement. His tongue circled it and he gave it a hard suck, hard enough for me to yelp and pull at his hair. This seemed to urge him on, because he started to kiss and gently nip all over my breasts. My skin tingled with each kiss, and his knee found its way between my legs. His thigh pressed lightly into my already-soaked core, and I suddenly felt like I was suffocating with the heat inside of the car. “Arv, shit, hold on,” I mumbled and lifted my hips to take my pants off. His free hand came down and helped me, and his warm palm replaced his thigh once I was bare.
Not once had I ever been touched there. The feeling was foreign but not unwelcome, especially since it was Arvin. I panted, trying to sort myself out, and Arvin pressed a soft kiss to the shell of my ear. “You alright there, darlin’?” he asked, his hand melting away from my body. “Need me to stop?”
“No,” I said. “Keep going, Arv. Please. I’ll die if you don’t keep on.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Arvin chuckled, and his hand went back to my cunt. The pad of his middle finger massaged my wetness, and he pushed his finger past my folds and carefully pressed just the tip of his finger into me. I moaned at the sweet goodness of it all, and I opened my eyes to see Arvin watching me. He didn’t seem to be studying me-- his eyebrows weren’t drawn together in consideration-- but he seemed to be admiring me. I tugged him down to my lips by his hair and kissed him, and his finger pressed further into me. Arvin’s kiss moved to my neck, and he slowly began to pump his finger inside of me. I never knew anything could feel so good. “More,” I whispered, my head falling back to expose my throat to him, and he nipped at my throat before he pushed his ring finger in to meet his middle finger. “Fuck, Arv, this ain’t fair at all,” I gasped.
“What d’ya mean, darlin’?” Arvin asked, his fingers moving with increasing quickness inside me, massaging something in me that I didn’t know existed. It made my legs shake.
“Arvin,” I whimpered. “Take-- Oh, fuck!” His fingers had pressed right into that sweet spot in my body, and the pleasure made my middle seize up. “T-Take off those goddamn pants, please.”
“Always so polite,” Arvin smirked. His fingers retreated from me and, in the fading sunlight coming through the sweating windows, I saw my wetness glistening on his fingers as he undid his belt. He whipped his belt off and tossed it into the backseat before he started to take off his ripped and dirty work pants. Arvin worked on the roads and I knew that the hard labor had gotten him fit, but, as I pulled his shirt off while he removed his pants, I was faced with his body. His chest and stomach were as hard as a rock, his muscles taut under his skin, and his arms bulged with a tight but lithe strength. His middle came down in a sharp V to his cock, half-hard, the tip flushed, resting on one of his built thighs. I had never really paid attention to how attractive Arvin was-- he had a nice face and gave me tight hugs, but that was about as far as I thought of his body or attractiveness. Arvin was so much more than attractive, though. The sight of his body, tanned and scarred and built like an Italian statue, made me face a truth that might have been hard to swallow twenty minutes ago.
“Arvin,” I whispered, pressing my hand to his face. His cheek was warm under my fingers, and his jaw clenched as he awaited my words. “Fuck me, Arvin. I want you.”
“That’s what I was planning on doin’, darlin’,” Arvin drawled, and his hand went to his cock. He stroked himself a few times until he was fully hard, and, by then, he had a thin sheen on sweat on his upper lip. Maybe it wasn’t our clothes that made me sweat and suffocate; it was hot as the devil in this car. The windows were fogged up against the cool West Virginia night, and I reached up and pushed Arvin’s sweaty curls from his forehead. The moment of tenderness seemed to stop Arvin in his tracks, because his eyes lifted from himself to mine, and he gave me an uncharacteristically-sheepish smile. “Everything alright there?”
“Oh, I’m more than alright, Arv,” I whispered. “Just lookin’ at you.” The sunset, nearly done, cast orange light into the car, right onto Arvin’s face, and it caught the flush in his cheeks.
“I…” he started. “I ain’t ever done this before. Never got this far with a girl before.”
“Me neither,” I said. “I haven’t even been kissed before tonight.”
“You still want to…” Arvin began. His cockiness was gone, replaced with a tender intimacy that I was surprised to see existed inside of Arvin Russell.
“I do,” I said. “If it means I get a few extra minutes with you ‘fore you go confront Pastor Teagardin.”
“That’s not the only reason, is it?” Arvin asked.
“Of course not,” I told him. “I just don’t…” I paused and struggled for the right words. “Don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I won’t,” Arvin said. “Son of a bitch ain’t even got a gun.”
The reminder of what Arvin had yet to do made me feel sick to my stomach. My Arvin wasn’t a murderer; was he? I felt the sick rise in my throat, and I struggled to open the car door and contort myself to vomit out into the gravel and grass. I felt Arvin take a handful of my loose hair and hold it away from my face, and I gasped as I felt the burning in my nose. “I shouldn’t’ve said that shit,” Arvin whispered in my ear. “I’m sorry, love.”
“So!” A man’s voice called, and I lifted my head to see Pastor Preston Teagardin standing a few yards away from the car, but certainly close enough to know what Arvin and I had been doing. “Couldn’t handle him, could ya, girly? Y’all got a little trigger in the back of y’all’s throats, ya know. Might do you good to remember that.”
“Shut the fuck up,” Arvin barked. His pants rustled as he pulled them back on, and he gave me his shirt to pull on quickly. My hands were shaking nearly too hard for me to dress myself, but I managed to put his shirt on my body. I shut the car door behind me as Arvin opened his, and I shoved the gun into the back of his pants quickly. I hoped that Pastor Teagardin hadn’t seen that. “Don’t you talk ‘bout my Y/N like that.”
“Oh, I’m sorry!” Pastor Teagardin drawled, his voice dripping sarcasm like honey. ”I thought y’all were the ones fucking at the church!”
“You gotta lotta nerve talkin’ to me like that,” Arvin shouted. His voice bounced around the empty space, sending a chill up my spine. I grabbed my panties and pulled them on as I listened to the confrontation, and, even though I didn’t care too much for God, I made a quick prayer to protect my Arvin. “After what you did to my sister and my wife.”
Wife. Was he saying that to give himself humility? To add credence to his argument? No matter the reason, even if it was a slip of the tongue, it warmed my stomach and cemented in my mind that Arvin really did love me.
“What I did--!” Teagardin scoffed. “Your sister got in that state with some boy! She was delusional, got it in her head that I was the daddy and that I would provide! I had nothing to do with that bastard child! And your wife! Your wife? Who, the whore of Coal Creek, tryna fuck you on top of your sister’s grave?”
Arvin moved as quick as lightning, drawing his gun and focusing it on Teagardin. I saw the pastor flinch away and he shouted, “God damn it, boy! Put the gun down and we can talk ‘bout this like real men!”
Arvin’s thumb pulled back the hammer and I heard the solid click of a bullet entering the chamber. “I’m more of a man than you’ll ever be,” Arvin said, scarily calm.
“What makes you say that?” Teagardin asked. “‘Cause you’ve got a gun?”
“Any man can have a gun,” Arvin said. “It’s ‘cause I got the balls to use it.”
The gun went off, and the air froze. The second felt like a vacuum, forever expanding. I saw Arvin jolt away from the gunshot, I saw his arm kick up at the force of the gun, and I saw the back of Pastor Teagardin’s head explode like it had been detonated from inside.
I didn’t even realize that I was screaming. It hurt my throat and rang in my ears but I didn’t register it. It wasn’t until Arvin threw the car door open and kneeled down next to me that I became aware of what I was doing, but I couldn’t stop. Arvin’s face screwed up in anger and he slammed his hand down on the roof of the car hard enough to leave a dent. “God damn it, woman, shut your fucking mouth!” Arvin growled. “Someone’s gonna hear you!”
“Arvin,” I gasped. My entire body was shaking and the sick feeling returned. “Arvin, you--”
“I know what I did,” Arvin whispered firmly. “I know… Did you see where the bullet shell went?”
I shook my head quickly, my knees crawling up to press against my chest protectively. “No,” I sniffled. I was crying. “Arvin, we gotta leave here.”
“I know, love,” Arvin whispered. He sat in front of me for a second more before putting a shaking hand on my knee in a meek act of comfort. “You can go home. You can pretend like none of this ever happened.”
“How do I…” I began. “I’m never gonna be able to forget that… Looked like pie filling… And I can’t lose you, Arvin. Not-Not after I just got you the way I want you.”
“You really wanna come with me?” Arvin asked. “Ya sure?”
“Yes,” I told him. “I’m sure, Arvin. Please, fuck, get in the car, we need to go.”
Arvin returned to the car and we quietly put all of our clothes back on. Arvin gave me a bundle of floral fabric to wear instead of my pajamas, and I unraveled it to find a young woman’s dress. My heart sank and I looked at Arvin for an explanation, and he mumbled, “S’not Lenora’s. Found it in a box of my momma’s stuff, looked like your size.”
“You brought a dress along before you knew I’d agree to come with you?” I asked. I slipped off Arvin’s shirt and put the dress on and, when my head emerged, I found Arvin giving me that same tender look from before. “Unless you always knew I’d come with.”
“That’s the thing ‘bout you, love,” Arvin chuckled lightly. “You’re usually so predictable.”
As we left, I gave one last look to Pastor Teagardin’s body, laying in the grass and gravel, never knowing what happened to him. He heard the gunshot; maybe he felt the pain of the back of his skull exploding outward. As I watched his body disappear with the distance, I felt like I knew him well. He was a man-- a wicked man, yes-- but he preached it best. It wasn’t worth much to put up a fight against the sins of the flesh.
I wrapped my hands around Arvin’s free arm as he drove, and I pressed myself into him. Night fell as we drove, leaving our headlights to be the sole light, and it was once I saw a broke-down sign saying that we had entered Ohio that I thought to ask, “Where’re we going?”
“Knockemstiff, Ohio. I wanna go bury my dog and this gun and start over… With you.”

This is a Wasteland, My Only Retreat.
The faint roar of the vehicle engine rumbled lowly as you sat in the driver seat of your car, both of your hands resting softly on the steering wheel. Your annoyed sigh released itself as your head turned to look at the sleek folder that laid in the seat next to you. You smirked to yourself as you averted your eyes back to the rusted standing building in front of you. The allure of the night caused the whole scenery to match the mood of this dreadful evening. Your eyes scanned over the area surrounding, four black cars parked to the left side of the building, the whole estate heavily guarded with about fifteen men, the soldiers. You stared for a bit before looking up to your rearview mirror and allowing your eyes to observe you. It was almost cliché the way you looked for the part you played. The way your features could kill a man alone and you knew that better than anybody. Reaching your hand into your purse that sat on your lap, you pulled out an item that was set to complete such a look of power,  your blood red lipstick. You moved closer to the rearview to get a better view as you applied a layer of the tint on your lips, bringing your character to life. You rubbed  your lips together and cleaned around the edges before your eyes naturally diverted to a dark figure walking towards your car.  You groaned in annoyance as you unbuckled yourself and grabbed the folder to the right of you. Turning your keys in the ignition off, you opened the car door, throwing your legs over onto the pebble ground, where the heels of your black boots met. Your whole appearance could have blended into how dark the night became as you wore black jeans and a black sweater, paired with your favorite black trench coat. The only color that could be determined was the deep red on your lips and the silver gun that hung by your side.
“YAH Y/N!”  the voice of the figured called out and you heard the thick accent of an Australian native come through
You slammed the car door shut behind you as you inhaled the cool freshnes of the autumn night. Shifting your direction to the young man walking closer to you. He had a slim figure, soft blonde strands that fit his small face and hints of freckles that coated him. On a usual day, he would be smiling and spreading his contagious positivity. But on nights like this, he was different. We were different.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” He asked sternly, voice low and accent deep. You walked towards him with the folder in your hand.
“Is that anyway to greet your elder, Felix?” You smiled back playfully, shoving the folder into his chest. He grabbed a hold of it flipping through the contents before looking back at you.
“How did you find out?” he sighed in defeat.
“Well, I heard you caught a mouse,” You said as you started to walk towards the building,  with Felix following, “the cat wanted to play.”
“You shouldn’t be here, Y/N,  you know you can be comprom-”
“Cut the bullshit Felix,”  You waved your hand,  pushing away the topic. “Just tell me what you know.”
Felix groaned and you looked over to him, stopping both of your tracks, “He was one of the associates. Caught taking pictures and asked too many questions.”
“Is that why the soldiers are here?” You asked, arms crossing over your body.
“Mhm. We don’t know which associate can be trusted, and didn't want to create more trouble.”
You squinted in confusion at his statement and Felix bit his lip as if he was debating to reveal anymore.
“We think he might be working with ‘Y’.”
Y. The alias name of a mystery person who has had multiple failed attempts in trying to reel you out. Or reel out whoever they can in all honesty. Pathetic and yet intriguing, as you and your family have been on the hunt for this mystery person for the past 6 months. Your interest spiked up to the new found information.
You laughed sinisterly as you turned back to walk towards the entrance of the building. “God, I love a good Friday night.”
“Y/N, I’m serious. You really shouldn’t be here. We don’t know the multitude that ‘Y’ is working on,” Felix pleaded.
“So we find out.” You stated.
“We are. YOU just can’t be here because Min-“ you stopped in front of the door to the warehouse and you turned around to Felix who cut himself off from finishing his sentence.
“Because what, Felix.” You gritted.
Felix sighed and looked at you.
“Minho doesn’t want you here”
You clicked your tongue and scoffed in disbelief at the sentence. You felt the blood bubble in your veins as the adrenaline from anger rushed through you.
“Last time I checked, Minho wasn’t my fucking boss.”
You marched up to the warehouse doors and pushed it open. Felix following you as you both walked into the dark and musty place, smells of decaying animals and blood surrounded you immediately, which could have bothered any normal individual, but the smell was too natural for you.
Straight ahead was a dim light shining on a profound scene. Your sight was captured by a man tied to a chair, hands cuffed behind him, blood hanging from the ends of his hair dripping down his cheeks and arms. Barely hanging on to whatever life he may have left, he raises his head to a man who you assumed performed such a violent assault. The man’s brown hair was sweat ridden and he wore his white dress shirt with sleeves rolled up.  On his hand sparkled a set of brass knuckles that he wiped off with his handkerchief. Walking closer, you witness the man as he swung his forearm back and connected another blow to the captured man's face, earning splatter of blood to the floor and a grunt from the victim. You scoffed softly as you approached such a disappointing scene.
If it weren’t for the loud clicks of your heels to suggest your arrival, it could have been the dark demeanor you had when you came into the lit area and the man looked at you, first in surprise and then annoyance. It was hard to admit, but he was attractive, his muscles bore through his shirt and pants. His face was one that could ruin a woman. His dark sweaty hair stuck to his forehead from the work he put in for the night. He scoffed when he saw you and you crossed your arms over your chest and smiled at him.
His eyes switched his gaze to Felix who approached behind you.
“You had... one job.” Stepping forward and raising his finger to emphasize Felix’s one job of the night, implying that it was to make sure you weren’t there.
Felix bowed his head in an apologetic manner and you laughed as you looked down at the floor and the back to the man.
“You’ve been relieved of your duties for the night Minho, you can go.”
He laughed at you and came closer, “I’m not going anywhere.”
“It wasn’t a suggestion.” You stepped closer to him.
Minho paused and looked at you as you held his gaze sternly. He finally let up, cursing in the air, understanding the consequences of disobeying you.
Minho turned to grab his coat and walked away calling out for Felix to come with him.
You breathed out in content and removed your coat. The man sitting in the chair raised his head slowly as he had heard your heels come closer to him. You grabbed his bloody chin and forced his head up to look at you as you examined to damage Minho had done.
“Tsk tsk tsk, he really did a number in your face.” You let go of his chin and he hung his head low again.
“Who are you?”
“Who am I?” You smiled at the question asked, “I can be whoever you want me to be.”
The man raised his head slightly as he saw you walk over and grab an empty chair, pulling it to sit across from him. You sat down and crossed your leg over the other one and pulled out a box of cigarettes from your back pocket, along with a lighter. You pulled a cigarette out with your mouth and lit it as you inhaled deeply. The smoke burning the back of your throat, almost sobering you for a second.
“Who am I?”  you reiterated, “ Well truthfully, I don’t think that’s as important. I actually came here cause I wanted to get to know you more”
“I already told the man before that I don’t know anything.”
You sucked in air as you pulled the cigarette out from your lips “See I could believe that, however, I know that’s not true, right... Danny?”
You paused as you saw no reaction, “ … or is it better to call you...SungHo.”
He looks at you in immediate terror and you smile, inhaling another drag.
“How do you-“
“Kim SungHo, father to two beautiful young girls, Mina, 3,  and Hyerin, 5. A loving husband to Kim Ji Hye for 10 years. Congratulations, your anniversary was last month right?” You asked innocently as you watch the man in front of you begin to widen his eyes to your knowledge.
You pulled another drag from the cancer stick, “A former professional photographer. You had your own business that went bankrupt, right? So you opted into your dangerous pleasures to feed your girls, huh?”
“I was just doing what I can,” He mumbled.
“Life in prison without parole. I heard they were even considering the death penalty for the men they found, men like you, right SungHo?” You scooted closer to him as you watched a tear roll down his face.
“Did you like taking photos of those girls? Did you like watching them beg for their lives?”
He cried and choked on his own tears as you stood up and flicked the cigarette to the ground and stomped on it to put it out.
“Tell me who you work for SungHo.”
“I can’t” he choked out.
“Oh SungHo, you don’t want to make me mad. I’m worse than that man before. Way worse.”
Sungho just cried and you grew intolerable to the minutes that past as you waited for information. You knew that beating him the way Minho did was foolish. So you did the one thing none of those bastards could ever. You grabbed your gun and cocked it back aiming for his head as he cried softly. You notice the lack of adrenaline, the almost inviting acceptance he was having to a moment of death you could implicate. So you moved your aim towards his groin.
“STOP! STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” he screamed.
“Tell me who you work for Sungho, my patience is at an all time low.”
“I DON'T KNOW HIS NAME, HE WENT BY Y!”
“What did he want?”
“HE WANTED TO KNOW IF THE LEE FAMILY WAS STILL OPERATING, HE ASKED ME TO TAKE PICTURES AND FIND OUT WHO THE BOSS IS. TOLD ME TO BECOME AN ASSOCIATE TO DO IT!”
“When’s the next time you’ll see him?” He paused and you lowered your gun and fired a gunshot right into his crotch. He screamed in pain and you aimed your gun back at his head.
“ANSWER ME!”
“HE DIDN’T SEE ME, HE CALLED ME. TOLD ME TO GO TO THE TRAIN STATION AND DROP OFF MY CAEMRA BY THE HOUSE WITH THE MAILBOX!” he cried out as he looked down and saw the blood dripping from his crotch. “PLEASE, HE SAID HE’D KILL MY FAMILY IF I DON’T DO THIS! PLEASE!”
You stepped back and relaxed yourself as you had found all the information you needed. You stood back looking at him as your mind thought back to the kids he had. You can’t protect them y/n. You watched as Sungho cried out in the pain as he bled. Your curiosity got the better of you in the moment as you twirled your gun.
“Did you find out who the boss was?”
Sungho breathed out heavily,“I took pictures of the man before you.”
You smiled in disbelief, “and you believe him to be the boss of the Lee Family?”
“The associates say that he is the only one they have seen and fits the description of the son of Lee Won-Shik.” He looked up at you and your face went pale.
That name. One that you knew too well. Your father’s name.
You aimed the gun back at his crotch and fired another bullet in anger. SungHo screamed and gritted as blood began to pool from his groin area, surely ending whatever reproduction system he had left.
“I TOLD YOU EVERYTHING.”
“I know, it’s a shame.”
The pain you inflicted caused you to wonder how painful it could have been. You just watched him bleed out and scream as he begged you for help. You turned and saw the camera lying on the table and you walked over to pick it up. You scrolled through pictures of Minho leaving offices and greeting people, people who worked for your family for years. Any leakage of this information could be detrimental. The whole thing put a sour taste in your mouth.
“Unfortunately Sungho, you won’t be dropping off this camera tomorrow.”
“NO, NO, PLEASE!”
“It’s a shame. A man who watches girls younger than your own daughters be taken from their families and exploited in such a distasteful manner… makes me sick.”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” You walked over and you cocked your gun back again as you aimed the gun to his head.
“Also, Lee Minho doesn’t run this family,”
You turn to Sungho who was crying in pain and pulled the trigger of your gun watching his head fall back as blood and pieces of his head splattered, coating the wall and floor behind you both. You move away and placed your gun back in your holder as you turned back to grab your coat, walking toward the exit. Leaving Sungho’s dead body to bleed out.
“I Do.”
**********
Outside, you see four men talking as you closed the large door behind you. Their views shifted on you and you watched as Minho walked up to you in anger.
“Three gunshots. You killed him.” He spat.
“He saw my face.”
“I had everything under control.”
“An interrogation that lasted two hours is your version of under control? What kind of questions did you ask Minho? What kind of camera does he use? Can he get you a deal at Best Buy?” you mocked.
“Like he told you anything! You were in there for 30 minutes and now we have a dead man and no information, I bet. I bet you killed him because he disrespected you as a woman! I know that really gets your blood boiling and you act like a deranged child!”
“Do you want a demonstration?” You grabbed your gun and aimed it at him until you hear a yelling from behind Minho.
“GUYS SERIOUSLY.” You turned your eyes to the boy who yelled out at you and sighed as Minho began to relax is demeanor. “We are family, we shouldn’t be fighting like this.”
“Seungmin’s right, we could be in a world of trouble and we need to work together now.” Felix reassured as he walked up to you and Minho and pushed your gun down.
You walked up to the group as Minho avoided eye contact with you. You stood next to Seungmin who was looking at you with caring eyes. You smiled because he was the type to always bring down the heat of conversations and make everyone regroup. Next to you stood a smaller boy, with blue hair. He had a soft fox like face and you smiled at him as he admired you.
“What information did you find?” The younger one asked you and you nodded.
“He worked for ‘Y’ in exchange for immunity to his crime charges to come later this week. That camera is supposed to be delivered tomorrow at the train station on the west side but unfortunately there’s been a delay.” You looked the boys who were nodding their heads all except Minho.
“And I saved both of are asses tonight, Minho. The associates are talking a lot among themselves, they believe you are the alleged son of my father. He has pictures of you meeting with secret partners. Had I kept him alive, our secret would have been revealed and the Hwang family would had found you, not just ‘Y’.” You informed.
“Thank you.” he muttered.
“Everyone report tomorrow 9 AM sharp. Seungmin put together a strategy plan for going forth on the ‘Y’ issue. Felix  dispose of the body near the train tracks, make sure you make a note for ‘Y’ to see. Minho,-”
Minho looked at you carefully having calm down from the interaction earlier, “Kill all the associates. None of them can be trusted.”
The boys all parted was and the youngest member stood by your side looking to you innocently. “What would you like me to do?”
“I need you to go find Sungho’s family and bring them to safety tonight. Don’t tell the others about it Jeongin, keep your tracker on. Take your soldiers with you.” Jeongin nodded and you hugged him close as he went off.
You walk towards your car and your phone dings in your coat pocket. You pulled it out and read the message that flashed across the screen.
“Just got on to my connecting flight, see you soon ❤️-HJ”
You smiled and put your phone back into your pocket, as you opened and sat in your car, ready to go home.
*************
You opened the oven and was blasted with a rush of heat as you removed the roasted potatoes in the pan and placed it on your stove top. The sound of the ongoing sizzle was still coming from the potatoes drowned out by the soft playing of jazz that you had in the background on your speaker. To the left of your view was the  piece of steak you had searing on your pan. It had been a while since you had a nice home cooked dinner. It had been a while since you two have eaten together like this. It had been a while in general. Since you last saw him, leaving you a kiss, one that you still remember fleshed on your lips, and watched him drive away. Just the thought of you two being in the same room made your stomach flip. He was captivating in the sense that he could make you drown in his aura and remove everything around you. It was like you were light like a feather, floating around him, and he was the gentle hand that caught you every time. You blushed to yourself, deep in thought as you began to place the food on the plates you had grabbed from the cabinet above you, remembering how incapable you were when reaching all the dishware in your house, becoming grateful for the way he towered you and helped you in these moments.
You just missed him. And it was difficult for you to admit to yourself that he made you feel secured. There was always fear when you thought of him and how you felt towards this man only to be reminded of how deep of a hole you dug for yourself. Your heart ached every time you had to remind yourself what your true mission was, what the point of this relationship meant. And yet, you pushed it all away. You turned an eye to the ratchet truth because you needed more time. It was a constant fight between heart and mind. Playing a double character all this time exhausted you even when you felt like you were completely and unapologetically yourself in front of this man.
You carried the plates over to your small dining room table and placed them at each end. Stepping back, you absorbed the smallness of the dining room area in your home. You laughed as you took in the lack of luxury in the space, and the lack of luxury in general. You lived comfortably, you never felt drowned in bills, you never went hungry. You had a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in. And yet, if anyone were to ever find out about your true income, they’d wonder why you opted to live in a one story house on the north side of town. You were able to buy the whole damn country if you wanted to. You were able to live a life of luxury and protection, but this is what he wanted. He wanted to show you that he is not who he really is and you acted like you didn’t know what he did, who he was. All these years, he played a character too. That’s how you knew that he loved you the same, if not more. You knew that in order to be with you, he had to tell you, because you had to know what it meant when you took his last name. But in his secrecy, you saw the need of protecting you from a world you already knew so much about and also the aching to hide away and be normal.
You sighed as you reached over to the bottle of wine you had on the table. You unscrewed the bottle and grabbed your glass as you poured yourself a decent amount of red lush. You raised the glass to your lips as you walked slowly to the mirror on the back wall of your dining room. You looked at yourself, watching how the simple silk black dress hung loosely down your chest. Smiling, as the silk draped over your breasts teasingly and stopping just inches from your knees. Your hand caressed your collarbone, down to your chest as you rose your other arm to bring the glass of wine back to your lips. You drifted your eyes from the mirror to your drink as you took another sip of the sweet liquid. It was almost alarming the way your attention was brought back to the mirror when a figure appeared in your peripheral. Your eyes widened in shock as your breath sucked in rather quickly. You looked at the man through the mirror, as he stood long and tall. Dressed in a pair of freshly pressed black slacks, a white long sleeved satin shirt, and blonde straight hair that was tied in his most comfortable form. Half up with two strands caressing over his face. His complexion was such a creamy tone and had a natural airbrush effect. His thick pink lips were painted on his face with intent to make a woman go insane. His eyes were sharp hiding his dark orbs that made your heart flutter.
Ethereal would be an understatement to describe him. He simply was created by all the gods.
He smiled softly at your longing gaze through the mirror, sticking his hands in both of his slack pockets,  tongue drifting over his bottom lip naturally.
“I didn’t hear you come in,” you managed to choke out as you turned around swiftly to now face him.
“Should I have knocked?” The sound of his voice was honey and danced through your ears. It almost made you shudder. You exhaled a breath at his comment as he began taking small steps towards you, looking at the mess you made in the kitchen. “What’s all of this?”
“I made dinner.” You sat the glass of wine on the table as you felt your skin tremble with anticipation as he made his way over to you.
“What did you make?” He was so close, voice dropping volume as he walked closer to you.
“I-I made s-steak and p-potatoes,” closer.
“Mmm,” he hummed and got closer.
“and s-some salad-d…” closer.
Until there he was, in front of you. Eyes finally connected, his natural scent and cologne invading your sense of smell, you wanted to drown in it. The heat of his body could be felt on your own as he kept taking steps, making you stumble back until your back was against the wall. He removed a hand from his pocket and placed his fingertips on your forearm, brushing softly, slowly and teasingly dragging his fingertips up your arm as you felt goosebumps form.
“I thought maybe we could, sit and eat..”
Fingertips now close your neck, grazing over your shoulder blade. He tilted his head and his eyes looked down at your body and slowly came back to match yours. He hummed at your words and you eagerly let him stroke over your sensitive neck. It felt like years since you’ve been touched and the thought of him taking you, all of you,  flooded not just your mind, but your core.
“That all sounds very nice but,” he paused as his fingers slid up to your chin pulling it gently to face him as he started down at you. He was now  centimeters over your face, you were convinced you could already feel his lips graze yours. “I’m actually craving something a bit more….sweet.”
You were almost in euphoria, your mind was clouded with anticipation and desire. Lust was dripping down your legs and you were falling down a hole. Everything around you went black and it felt like it was just you and him. You barely heard the words that came out of his mouth.
“there’s ice cream in the freez-“
“Just kiss me.”
You nodded frantically as he pushed into you against the wall. One of his hands slamming against the wall, the other wrapped around your waist as he brought you closer to his craving body. You had your arms wrapped around his neck pulling him deeper. His lips molded over yours in such an artistic way. It was simply amazing the way you two fit into each other, as if the heavens created you from the same strand of souls. One in body, spirit, and mind, you both became. You longed for the taste of him and it was as if on cue, he connected his tongue with yours, deepening your kiss. There was so much fire and passion, it was as if you two were begging for this. You moaned into him, feeling the vibrations against his lips as he pulled away from you to catch his breath. Eyes hooded, orbs dark and the light of the room stinging your sight as he moved his head to pepper kisses on your bare neck. Your body responded to him by tilting your head to the side and he used his free arm to slip down the back of your thigh, hiking your leg to his hip. The wetness of his tongue coating the hidden veins of your neck as he nipped softly, earning the sounds of your moaning. You felt his hard aching dick push near your core as his fingertips brushed further up your dress, barely touching where you needed him the most. He pulled back, panting and eyebrow cocked up at you as you licked your lips craving his delicious taste again.
“No underwear?” You felt your blood run cold as you remembered your lack of undergarments under the dress. You knew this was how you two would end up but your mind had erased every detail you had planned the moment he revealed himself to you. You just smiled seductively to him as he growled.
“I know my baby girl didn’t think she was going to tease me tonight.”
In one fluid motion, you were lifted off the floor, legs around his torso as he carried you to your kitchen island sitting you on the cold surface, your bare ass touching the marble and you hissed at the sudden feel. He wasted no time pushing all your dishware away and you heard the sounds of metal crashing to the ground, as he made room for you to lay.
“Normally you would have been punished for that,” he uttered referring to your attempt to edge him on. He pushed you back so you could lie on the counter, you grunt as you felt the shivers down your spine. He pushed the  fabric of your dress up, revealing your dripping  heat. He nearly groaned as he saw the way you glisten and wasted no time taking his long finger to drag  up your slit. You arched your back in delight as your pussy throbbed painfully for him. He leaned over your body, lips close to your ear as he let a low hot breath.
“But I’m fucking starving.”
You watched as he leaned down your body and bent his knees to make himself align face to face with your core. He never broke your gaze as he did so and you hitched a breath as you felt his velvet lips kiss your inner thigh.
“Don’t tease,” you moaned out involuntarily. It was all too much, your mind was so foggy and you heard his low chuckled.
“I have to savor every part of my meal, babe”  his hot breath hit your wet lips and your breathing heightened. It was agonizing.
A sigh of relief and a cry from your lips rang out as he dragged his long hot tongue over your slit, collecting every drop of arousal you produced and laying flat against your throbbing clit. Your hands immediately rested on his head, fingers intermingling with his soft hair. You pulled yourself up in reaction as he lapped you sensually, drinking you, eating you. You were a mess, eyes shut and rolled to the back of your lids. Intoxicated by the way he performed. He looked up at you as you cried and heaved, sweating beads forming from the edges of your hairline. Profanities slipping from your mouth with every movement he made against you. You felt his tongue part your slit and insert inside of you, lapping all he could, moaning into you. You laid back and groaned, hips bucking up at him to chase more. Licking his way back up to your needy clit, he took the bud into his mouth, sucking and licking it. You felt two of his long digits slip into you with ease and stretching you out.
“Oh my fucking god.” You cried out as you felt him bring you close to your edge. The white hotness built in the pit of your stomach and your legs began to shake. You felt his fingers curl inside you and he lapped deliciously, eyes looking at you as you held on to his head. He smiled as he saw your fucked out face and your mouth was opened, loss of words. He pulled back from your pussy and replaced his ministrations  with his thumb as he kept fingering you. Leaning forward he kissed you, your juices coating his face as you tasted yourself on him. He moaned when you arched your self into him and he pulled back to look at you. He knew you wanted to cum. He could feel the way your walls pulsated against his fingers and saw how fast your chest was rising and falling. Licking his lips he came closer your face, forehead resting on yours, one hand now pushing your hips down and the other fucking you into ecstasy.
“Cum for me baby girl.” He pecked your lips softly as you moaned “Cum for daddy.”
Your body spazzed and you cried out to him as he enclosed your cries by kissing you passionately. His fingers slowed down their pace and pumped into you deeper, thumb grazing over your worn out clit, which made you convulse every time he flicked over it. He pulled back and stood over you, pulling his fingers out of your dripping core. You tried to catch your breath as he raised his fingers to his lips and slipped them into his mouth. You watched as he sucked your taste of him. It made your cheeks flush red and grow needy again watching the erotic scene.
“I missed the way you taste,” he smiled at you. You smiled back and found the strength to raise your body to him, sitting up and grabbing his belt loops pulling him closer to you. He bent down and cupped your face as he kissed you again. Your hands fiddling with his belt and buttons of his pants frantically, craving his dick more than ever. You wanted to watch him come undone the way he did with you. As you started to unzip his pants he pulled back and placed his hands over yours. Your innocent eyes looking into his in confusion as he held your hands away from his pants. He knew what you wanted to do, but he had other plans.
“Later, love. Right now I just wanna be inside you” he said softly. You smiled and he resumed, taking his pants off along with his underwear. You watch as his hard dick sprung out of the fabric and you gasped in delight. He wasn’t big or small, but the perfect length, the perfect girth. You licked your lips in the thought of being filled by his cock. He took a hold of his dick  and rubbed up and down your slit, coating himself with your cum. You groaned due to your sensitivity and lied back down on the counter again.
“I can’t wait to ruin you” he stated as he inserted himself into you.
“Oh my god, Hyunjin.” You slipped his name out for the first time of the night. His hands slammed on the side of your head, as he hung his head low by your neck, stretching you out. You heard his sighs and groans in your ear. He slipped an arm under your head, pulling you close to him and you gripped his shirt as he whimpered, “Even after all that and your still so fucking tight.”
He snapped his hips into and you yelped. He groaned into your neck and his free hand found yours as he intertwined his fingers with yours.
“Faster, daddy” you whimpered.
He lifted his head to look at you, “You want it faster, love?”
He was pumping in and out of you slow and deep. His body melding into yours and your juices slipping out, pooling under you. You bit your lip at his question and you nodded. He pushed his way up and towered you again, grabbing a hold of your legs firmly. He began to quicken his pace as the room was filled with the slapping of skin. The feeling of him inside you was immaculate and you cupped your breasts through your dress as your mouth slipped out anything that came to mind.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck”
“You like that baby girl, you like when I fuck you like this?”
Your back arching off the counter again as Hyunjin fucked you into another world. It was almost impossible for this man to not bring you into a state of bliss. Each snap of his hip hit you in exquisite ways. His deep grunts and moans sent bubbles in your stomach you watched as he would roll his head back to the pleasure you gave him. The way he spoke to you in moments like this were difficult to overcome. You could cum just by his words alone.
“God y/n you feel so fucking good.”
You could feel the pit of your stomach grow light again. Your walls began to pulsate around him and he could feel that you were chasing your second orgasm of the night. He smirked at you as you began to convulse, feeling the white heat rise to your ears.
“Are you gonna cum again, love? Am I making you feel that good?”
“Yes Hyunjin, fuck, you’re fucking me so good...”
“God dammit.” He growled.
Everything paused for a second as Hyunjin grabbed you off the counter, still inside of you, and he carried you to the dining room, kicking one of the chairs out for him to sit on. He sat down bringing you on top of him, slamming down on his slick member.
“AHH,” you moaned, tossing your head back at the different angle you had of him.
His hands rested in your ass and he leaned into your ear, “fuck yourself to oblivion, love”
You nodded as you rested your hands on his shoulders. You began to rock yourself back and forth on his dick, moaning loud. His hands helped you as you felt your orgasm grow closer and you began to lose your strength.
“Come on baby, give it to me,” you rocked faster and faster and soon you felt your orgasm inch closer. The pit of your stomach churned and the walls of your pussy clenched. “That’s it baby, cum for me.”
You cried out again and you felt your lower half give out to the intensity of your orgasm, you stopped moving for a second as you breathed in heavily trying to catch your breath. Hands still resting on Hyunjin’s shoulders and head hanging low, you felt so light, so spent. Hyunjin gripped your hips and began snapping his hips up into you, your eyes shut tightly as you gripped him, screaming. Your head now resting on his shoulders, body almost limp to the overwhelming orgasm you just had. Hyunjin fucked into you like a mad man, having not reached his high yet. You moaned into his ear at the overstimulation as he grunted to you. You finally felt like you had enough strength to finish him off and you began rocking yourself back to meet his thrusts.
“FUCK” he yelled as you didn’t let up. Your lips found the skin under his ear and you lapped and sucked on it tasting the sweat that formed in his neck from tonight.
“I’m gonna fill you up so fucking good.”
You smiled against his skin as his thrust grew sloppy. Your lips moved to his ear and you placed a soft kiss before whispering, “do it, baby.”
He groaned on cue and whimpered as he snapped his hips into you hard. You felt the warm spurts of his cum hit your walls inside you and you didn’t let up to the way you rocked against him, wanting to milk him dry. He gasped and tried to hold you still, unable to handle the sensations.
“Fuck, oh my god y/n,” he sighed as you stopped overstimulating him and just sat there in the chair with him still inside you.
You raised your head to look at him, both of you  fucked out, and you smiled as you leaned in and kissed him again. He cupped your face into the kiss and held you there. The heat radiating of your sweaty bodies and the smell of sex filled the air as the both of you kissed each other with so much need. Pulling back slowly, you rested your forehead against his with your arms around his neck.
“I am never leaving for that long ever again” he stated and you laughed as you moved a piece of his hair off his sweaty forehead, fingertips lightly touching his vein that the top that always came out when he was working hard like that.
“You were gone for a week” you responded and he pecked your lips a few more times and moaned softly.
“A week too long” he smiled and caressed your lower back as you still sat on him. “I missed you too much”
“You’re back now, and I’m not letting you go anywhere” you kissed his nose cutely and he pulled you in for another kiss.
“Sorry about dinner.”
“It’s okay, I’m glad you got what you were craving” he smiled.
“Oh honey, that was just an appetizer” he stated as he lifted you both up off the chair. You felt him grow hard again inside you as you laughed. He kicked his pants off his ankles and began walking you to your living room. Finding your couch, he laid you down and kissed your neck as you giggled. He pulled back and made a goofy smile as you reached your hand to caress his face. He tilted his head to kiss your fingertips softly as you smiled adoringly to him.
“I love you so much y/n”  He leaned in to hover over your lips and your heart skipped a beat to his words.
Because you knew that no matter what, you were falling into that hole, deeper and deeper. And you didn’t know if you wanted to escape, no matter the consequences. Because this, here like this, with him was all you wanted. For the rest of your life.
“I love you too Hyunjin.”

I’ve always wanted a first real date after bly scene. Light and right.
Where Dani is thirsty AF bc Jamie wore a dress
Where Jamie feels like she’s in an oven under Dani’s 👀.
Where Jamie wants to remark on Dani maybe using that weapon *👀👄* sparingly, but remembers her complete lack of autonomy in the past and is just like ~yes love, look. It’s for you.
Does it count as a date, Jamie wonders, when we’ve not been apart in four months? Hard to imagine, but it’s true--the time has very much gotten away from her in Dani’s company. Not that she’s complaining. Not that she can find much at all to complain about, with Dani at her side.
Nervous, Dani may be. Uneasy about planning for the future. Sometimes, she turns her head and finds Dani gazing back with a chillingly blank expression, and thinks, She’s going. She’s going already.
And then Dani will blink, and she’ll smile, and Jamie can’t fathom how she’d ever thought the worst. Even for a second. There is so much life to Dani--different now than the woman who had pulled her close in a hallway, maybe, but full of life all the same. Dani’s eyes are different these days, beyond her newfound heterochromia, and her dreams are darker, but she is in all other ways the most alive person Jamie’s ever known.
Particularly the way she tends to stare.
“What?” Jamie asks, grinning. There’s a certain steady pleasure to this moment, how Dani’s eyes snap to her the second she enters a room. “Why are you looking at me like...”
She hesitates. Like you want to take a bite. She doubts Dani would respond well to that phrasing. Four months in, Dani still tends to dart away from her when caught staring, her posture tightening up. Blatantly pointing out exactly what her face is doing just now is sure to send her into a mild tailspin.
And yet--hard to deny the truth of it. Dani, perched on the edge of the couch they’ve only recently hauled up the stairs to this very-new apartment, is gaping at her like she didn’t expect Jamie to even be home, much less stepping out of the bathroom. The surprise is etched into every angle of her, partnered with something Jamie is inclined to call naked desire.
Bit much, she thinks, heartbeat increasing tempo, but if it walks like a fuckin’ duck...
“Like what?” Dani is shaking her head, smoothing out her skirt, fingers tightening around the fabric like she doesn’t entirely trust her own hands. “I’m not lookin’ at you any special way.”
She’s right about that much--if only because Dani has a tendency to look at her this way always. Doesn’t matter where they are, or who’s around, or how Jamie’s dressed. Turtleneck, battered jeans, or this, her eyes always darken the exact same way. Her jaw tenses, her tongue flicking out to wet her lips, and every single time, Jamie thinks, No one. No one has ever looked at me like...
Like it’s second nature. Like she’s been doing it all her life. Like Dani has forgotten how to even begin to tame her own expression, so long as Jamie is standing in front of her.
She’d be lying if she said she didn’t like it.
“I didn’t even know you kept a dress,” Dani says. She’s still staring just over Jamie’s shoulder, as though the only thing holding her in check is the blank wall.
“Didn’t,” Jamie says. “Recent acquisition.”
To see what would happen, she doesn’t add. To see if it would make a difference to the way Dani looks at her like she can’t get enough. A part of her can’t forget how Dani had lit up the day of the funeral, as though the sight of dress and lipstick and flirtatious little grin had been powerful enough to keep the monsters at bay.
Truer than Jamie could have realized, then. Still true now, she thinks, as Dani slowly rises and allows her gaze to take in the full picture once more. Dani is, she can tell, being as careful as she can. Dani is trying not to be too much. Like they haven’t been spending endless hours together, strolling through states, watching the seasons change. Like they haven’t spent all these weeks learning one another in motel rooms, and--as of very recently, in this flat. Like Dani is still, somehow, embarrassed by her own inclinations.
It’s okay, she wants to say. You can look. You can do anything you like. Dani believes it, in the dark. Dani believes it when it’s Jamie at the wheel, guiding her hands. She believes Jamie wants her then--naked and pressed into a mattress, under the pulse of a hot shower, even in the backseat of a car. There are places, Dani seems to think, where she is allowed to want and be wanted.
But Jamie has to start it. Jamie has to expressly grant permission. Somehow, Dani still hasn’t quite realized it is her want--wherever it comes, whenever it comes--Jamie most prizes.
Look, she thinks. Touch. Do what you want. No one’s ever told Dani that before. No one’s ever been able to make her believe it. Understandable; some things can’t be resolved a few months in. Some trunks have been locked too long.
She offers her arm, pleased when Dani hooks a hand through the bend of her elbow. “Shall we?”
Dani glances at her, glances away again, swallows. For a moment, Jamie wonders if she might tilt them back against the front door, taking the date off the table entirely. Wouldn’t be so bad. Would, in fact, be a glorious way to spend an evening with this woman.
But date was the plan, and date Dani seems committed to. Even as her fingers trace the soft skin of Jamie’s wrist. Even as her hip presses lightly to Jamie’s own. Even as they make their way to the restaurant, to a table near the back, and order.
“This feels strange,” Dani says quietly. “Being out like this.”
“We go out all the time,” Jamie points out, knowing what she means. Knowing there’s a difference between lounging in a booth for dinner and going out like this--hair up, makeup done, Dani trying so hard not to take her in with hungry eyes. Is it really a date if you’re always together anyway? It would appear the answer is very much yes.
And it would appear Dani is just as out of practice with the whole idea as she is. Her hands are twining on the tablecloth, her head bent. Every so often, her eyes flick up to Jamie’s face, and it’s like having a campfire turned directly against her skin.
“You can do that,” Jamie says after the third or fourth time. She can feel herself grinning--the old flirtatious good humor, which has grown to encompass so many private moments. She may not be able to resist Dani’s big doe eyes, but Dani’s never been good at turning away from this particular breed of smile, either. Well-matched. And fucking lucky.
“Do what?” Dani isn’t feigning innocence, she’s sure. Dani is genuinely trying not to do this very thing. Dani is trying to be polite, and proper, and in public, and Jamie’s heart clenches a little to think of how often she’s done the exact same thing with any number of women she’d felt she couldn’t even glance at.
“Look at me,” she says. Dani’s eyes rise, her lip pulling between her teeth. “You can do that. However long you like.”
“We’re in--”
“It’s just looking.” Jamie smiles. “No one can stop you.”
Dani shifts in her seat, fingers knotting together. Jamie would bet her life she’s gripping her own hands that tightly to keep from reaching across the table.
“I don’t mean to.” Dani pauses. Smiles a little. “I don’t mean to look at you like--like I--”
“Want me?”
Dani makes a small noise under her breath, something Jamie suspects might be a groan. She laughs.
“Poppins, you do know the idea of a date.”
“Yes.” Dani has this predictable way of huffing words out in irritation when she’s embarrassed. It’s entirely distracting in its own right. “But you’re--I’m not--”
Jamie waits. Things like this take time, she reminds herself. Things like this are not instantaneous. What Dani is comfortable doing--being--in private might never quite look the same out in the world. That’s all right. What matters is that Dani gets to choose. That Dani knows she’s allowed to.
“I don’t own you,” Dani says in a low voice at last. She’s looking Jamie in the eye now, and there’s so much happening on her face--an embarrassed pull of her mouth coming up hard against the heat of her gaze. “I don’t want you to feel like I’m always ten seconds from...from...”
“Tearing my clothes off?” She can’t keep the amusement out of her voice, and suspects it’s the only thing holding Dani here. That, if she were to say the same sentence with no humor at all, Dani might actually burst into flames right over the nearly-full wine glasses. “Can’t see a problem with that.”
“Jamie.” It’s nearly a whisper. She sounds so ashamed, even as her eyes flick from painted mouth to the low cut of the dress’ neckline.
“It’s not ownership, wanting the person you’re with,” Jamie says, as gently as she can. “It’s...welcome. Very.”
“We’re in public,” Dani repeats in a strangled sort of voice. “And you’re wearing that, and I...”
“Do you like it?”
Dani nods, very quickly. Jamie glances around, and, finding the waiter absent, slides a hand beneath the table to cover her knee.
“I like that you like it. Might surprise you, but I did put it on because I hoped you’d like it.”
Dani swallows. Her leg is rising and falling in an unsteady tattoo under Jamie’s palm, the skirt riding precariously up her thigh. Jamie smiles.
“You are allowed,” she says, “to look. And to tell me what you think. And, shocking though it might be, to respond according to what you want. I like that you want me.”
“I know,” Dani says, in the kind of voice that says she doesn’t entirely believe it, even now. Jamie shakes her head.
“No, don’t think you get it. It is the best goddamn part of my day, watching you watch me. Knowing you’re thinking what I’m thinking. It’s...” She hesitates, her thumb stroking along Dani’s kneecap. “There’s nothing wrong with it. Or you.”
Dani is breathing a little less sharply with every pass of her thumb, her cheeks pink. She closes her eyes--and then, with the air of a woman turning a particularly stubborn key, opens them again. It is the memory of the funeral dress turned up to eleven. It is the moment she’d stepped out of the bathroom doubled, tripled, almost too much to stand in the middle of a populated restaurant.
It is perfect.
“See,” Jamie says, taking her hand back and settling it beside her fork. “That. With me, you never have to tone that down.”
“I do,” Dani mumbles. “I really do.”
“Why?”
“Because,” Dani says, leaning across the table, her voice pitched dangerously low, “we haven’t even been served yet, and I want to drag you home already.”
Jamie grins. “Going that poorly, would you say?”
She’s a little surprised Dani doesn’t kick her under the table.
She’s not surprised at all when Dani’s hand appears on her own thigh, intentionally driving her dress up. Dani is, she’s pleased to find, grinning.
“Ah,” she says breathlessly, “now you’ve got the idea.”

You and Ethan didn’t talk about the kiss. You walked through the house, finding the last two key cards and watching another tape in relative silence. It wasn’t that the silence was bad. It was actually very comfortable. You laughed at each other like school children. He teased you like the two of you had been married for years.
You may be in a nightmare of a situation but at least you were in it together.
Ethan put the blue keycard in and you put the red one in. It opened up the door that was to the left of the trailer. You pushed it open.
“Are you ready for a party?” he asked. You scoffed.
“You’ve never seen me at a party Winters. It is an event,” you said smiling. He rolled his eyes and walked inside, holding his gun up. He looked around quietly, walking up the stairs. In neon splattering letters it read ‘Let’s Play’. “I’m sick of this guy already,” you muttered.
“I’m sick of this situation.” You pushed open the door inside and there was a chair and a TV hooked up.
“Is this another video? Because if I wanted to watch a movie I would have stayed home.” Ethan sat down on the chair. You stood behind him but he patted the arm of the chair. You rolled your eyes and sat down beside him. You pushed the VHS tape in.
Lucas showed up. He looked gross. He set up the camera and waved at the camera.
“Ethan! Oooo and pretty Y/N! Hold on, hold on, I got something to show you.” He showed the D-series head over the camera. Damn thing was too much trouble for what it was worth. “You know what Zoe wants with this? She thinks it's special! No Ethan that ain’t special. This is special.” He was shaking as he raised his hand in front of the camera and took a fingernail off with pliers. You winced. “You see, not everyone wants to turn back the clock! What? What Eveline? I’m just trying to show him!” You rolled your eyes and stood up. He said some more stuff but the gist of it was that he had the head. The TV blew up, knocking Ethan back. He scrambled up and brushed off his clothing.
“You’re right. He is a dick.”
You gestured to the door.
“It is time to get this over with.”
“I cannot agree more.”
====
You made your way through the booby traps that Lucas had set out for the two of you. You were sick and tired of his games. When you arrived at the key code, you were ready to kill the guy with your bare hands but no, he made you look around for the code and then return with it.
It was the same room you had seen on the tape, which meant you knew how to do it. Jokes on Lucas.
You dropped off all of your weapons and went inside. It was a dimly lit room. You grabbed Ethan’s hand, knowing that Lucas was watching. You came up close to him, whispering into his ear.
“You remember the pass code?” you asked.
“Yes I do and I do not want it carved in my arm,” he muttered. You nodded and patted his back.
“Go on.”
He walked forward and lit the candle that was there with the stove. He burned the rope to the door and walked inside, putting in the code. Loser. With the wheel he was able to go back around to the cake, you turned off the water and he went through, placing the candle on the cake perfectly.
“Motherfucker!” Lucas yelled over the intercom. “You were supposed to die!” Suddenly a stick of dynamite was tossed into the room. You ran over and picked it up, throwing it through the wall. Ethan pulled you back and practically shielded you with his body in order to make sure the blast didn’t get to you.
The wall blew, revealing a pathway.
“Fuck you Lucas!” you yelled. You walked through the bits of fire and came to a chair that was still spinning. You scoffed. “That was easy.”
“Well we make quite a team.” Ethan opened up the case that was on the table and revealed the D-series head. You refrained from pumping your fist in the air.
“We do don’t we? Look at us. We’ve both lived this far. We killed Jack and Marguerite. Lucas ran in fear. We’re going to get out of here,” you whispered.
“Don’t jinx us.”
“My bad.” He grabbed your hand and showed you the head. You looked down at it, wondering what it had been when it was alive.
“We did do pretty good.”
“It ain’t over yet Winters,” you muttered. “Let’s get our stuff and go get Zoe and Mia. Then we can leave this damn place.”
He nodded. You turned around, trying to slip your hand away from him. Instead of that he moved you around smoothly, kissing you. He pulled away gently, causing you to still reach forward for his touch.
“Calm down,” he muttered. “Or you’re gonna get us killed when we’re this close.”
“Alright, alright.” You turned around, breathing evenly again. “Is this better? Are you happy?” Ethan nodded and gestured for you to go back to where you had both left your things.
===
You walked across some confusing docks before making it to a larger house. Some sort of boat house or something.
“What’s the first thing you’re going to do when you get out of here?” he asked, opening up the door.
“Nap. For seven years. Don’t wake me.”
“I’ll try my best.”
Tied to a window and pillar, Zoe and Mia sat on the ground looking weak. You walked up to Mia who looked up at you. You tried to hide your disdain as you knelt down and cut the rope off of her.
“Zoe-” Ethan started.
“Not now. We don’t have time. Do you have both ingredients?” You nodded and Ethan cut her out. You handed her the arm while Ethan handed her the head. “Good. There’s enough for two.” She turned around and knelt down, mixing it together.
“So after you make the serum, what’s next?” Ethan asked.
“There’s a boat outside. We’ll take it through the swamp. But neither of us will get very far without the serum.” Ethan took them both from her. She started to protest but suddenly something crashed from behind you.
A large black goop monster crawled through the walls.
“Zoe, get back to the house!” it said in a distorted voice. “I will deal with them!”
“Jack!” you yelled. You cocked your shotgun. “If I have to fight you one more time I will cut each of your limbs to pieces!” you yelled, walking up to him. Ethan admired your readiness as he scrambled to hide the serum before following you.
At this point, fighting Jack was somewhat of a habit. You and Ethan shot at his weak points, going around in circles to make sure he would stay dead. He collapsed to the ground but you weren’t about to let that stop you.
You held your gun up to him as you started to back away. Ethan watched as the mold made Jack picked stirred alive and picked you up, making you scream.
“Come on little girl! You’ll never be her mommy!” he screamed. You fumbled for your gun but before you could get there Jack started to shake. He dropped you. Ethan was standing to your side, an empty vial of serum in his hand.
“What did you do?” you breathed.
“What I had to do in order to save you,” he said. Your eyes went wide but Zoe broke your thoughts.
“Are you two alright?” Ethan nodded, walking up to you. “Come on. Mia’s waiting for us.”
You stumbled out onto the dock. Your fatigue was getting to you. Your shoulder throbbed. You weren’t doing good. Ethan didn’t look much better. Ethan and you leaned against each other as you walked onto the dock. Mia waited by the boat. The night was still dark but the air by the water was fresher. You were really thirsty.
“I had to use one of them. There’s only one left,” Ethan explained. Mia turned around quickly. She walked up to the two of you, looking at the lone vial in Ethan’s hands.
“There’s only one left? There can’t be just one left. What the hell are we gonna do now?” Mia looked shaken. She and Zoe stood next to each other and between them was only one vial and Ethan had it. You crossed your arms over your chest.
Ethan looked over at you. You shrugged a bit and he walked away from Mia and Zoe up to you. The vial was between you.
The question hung in the air. You almost had a whole conversation without saying anything. You both knew it. On one hand, Mia was his wife and your friend. You may wanna fight her but you didn’t want her dead. You barely knew Zoe. But Zoe knew the way out. You grabbed the vial from his hand. He looked grateful.
You walked over to Zoe and injected her with the serum.
Mia gasped.
“I’m sorry Mia it’s just Zoe knows the way out,” Ethan said quickly. “She can guide us to safety.” Mia shook her head.
“You’re my husband...my best friend!” She pursed her lips. “I’m staying here.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” you said.
“My place is here. With her,” Mia said, backing away. Zoe got in the boat. You followed her. Ethan lingered for a moment and then got in beside you.
“We’ll be back for you,” he said.
The boat zoomed away, leaving Mia back in the darkness. You felt bad. But you had to believe you could come back for her, that you could save her later. Zoe looked grateful. Ethan steered the boat away. You took a deep breath and watched his face. He looked calm. Conflicted. All of the above.

solitude | a when the sun sets in the east drabble
Hahaha here it is @youwerenevermine and also @aenarsnow since his naughty drabbles inspired the ask for #22. “You can scream if you want.” Enjoy!
“Fascinating,” she murmured, observing the white stone etchings on the dark wall in front of her, lifting her torch higher to get a better look at the drawings the Children of the Forest had done ages before. Her fingers lightly touched the marks, glancing sideways to her husband, who was watching her, eyes hooded and dark. She arched her brow. “I would have wondered if you’d done these, if you had not already gone and fought them.”
He smiled, the barest ghost of it, and reached for her hand, guiding the torch further, to point out some more of the drawings he’d discovered in his island wanderings. “See these?” he asked, showing her more. “Look at that.”
To her surprise, there was a drawing of a beast with wings, with lines coming from its mouth. “Dragons,” she breathed; her lips pulling to a smile. “They must have flown from Valyria over this way…wild dragons.” The idea of it was so foreign. She turned the torch towards the cave, peering deeper inside of it, at the shiny dragonglass that remained, although most of it had been taken to make weapons for the Northerners to use to fight the Others.
She had seen them herself, briefly, when she’d ventured North just once, to confirm what her husband told her. She wanted to see them for her own eyes and she had. Evil, terrible magical beings. They were gone now; the North was safe. She had another war to fight on the southern front now, against Cersei.
“What is back there, do you think?” she wondered. She knew of the hot springs, the volcano that gave Dragonstone its constant fog and mist, the vague sulfuric and ashy smell, and its soft black sand. In her dreams she heard the dragons of old crying out. She wanted to find them. Their skeletons or their eggs, maybe.
“Animals maybe. Come.” He offered his hand, and she took it, noting to explore later. The torchlight bounced off the shimmery cave walls, damp and chilled, but she was warm. Not just from the fire on their torches, but from being in his presence after so long without him. She leaned against his arm, their fingers clutching tight.
They emerged from the cave, to see the sun peeking from behind fading storm clouds, the three dragons wheeling in the sky, elated to be together again. They had not stopped crying out, no doubt Drogon and Viserion telling Rhaegal all that he had missed, and Rhaegal sharing his experiences in the North, fighting Others and burning down Boltons. The stories Jon had told her, of the faces on the Northmen, when he had returned, she wished she could see it. She wanted to see the faces of his enemies when they caught sight of him atop Rhaegal, flying into battle.
Her lips twitched, her skin warming further beneath her black coat dress. It was the most clothing she’d worn in his presence and even beside her, she noted how comfortable he was now in his Northern gambeson, quilted tunic, and thick woolen trousers. “Will you ever wear your Dothraki clothing again?” she mused, walking along with him towards the water’s edge.
“I imagine I will, in Essos. It is a bit too cold here for that.” He smirked. “Or would you have me freeze my stones off?”
Her hand shot down between his legs, grasping the stones in question, as best as she could with all the clothing between them. He gasped, his eyes blackening, and she tossed the torch into the sand at their side. Hands free completely, she murmured, moving them up towards his belt. “No, I would never want that, a travesty it would be. I quite like your stones.” She rubbed her mouth over his, purring. “I like your cock a bit more.”
His breath was hot, mingling with hers, opening his mouth wider over hers, his tongue slipping free to touch hers, the kiss filthy, sloppy. He groaned, her fingers diving between the gambeson and tunic folds, slipping into the breeches. He was hard as steel already, thick, and she moaned into him, giving him a few pumps in her small hand, her fingers slipping over the length and running her thumb over the tip, wishing it was in her mouth. Or cunt, that would be nice too.
He whined, when she flicked her tongue against his, mimicking the motions of her thumb on him. He grappled for her wrist, squeezing gently, warning. “Dany, no, not like this.”
“Please,” she whispered, eyes flicking up to him, her brows arching. “It’s been so long…I need you Jon.”
“Here?”
“Here,” she confirmed. It was secluded; no one would find them. She turned them around, pushing towards the crevices the large, jagged rocks created on the shoreline, spinning and hopping backwards onto one of them, leaning backwards and allowing her legs to fall open, her hand still inside of his trousers, refusing to let go, literally leading him by the cock. “Jon please, I’m fine…it’s been enough time.”
They were normally so exhausted, the last month and a half with their beautiful baby girl rather challenging, but she would never give it up. They were learning to be a family, balancing need for sleep and feeding a newborn with ruling and battle plans. Most evenings she fell asleep before she could say good night, grateful to be in his arms again.
It was just of late she found her fingers wandering over her belly, skimming over her small clothes, late at night as he slept beside her. The war council meetings found her staring at him longer than considered appropriate, her throat parched and her body quivering, wishing she were the wooden figurine he was fiddling with while Tyrion droned.
She needed him, she thought, desperately pulling the leather ties at his neck, loosening the tunic, her skin itching, wanting to touch him, press to him and indent his heart on hers again. “Jon,” she panted, their kisses furious, her legs rising to cradle his pelvis to hers, bringing his length ever closer to her cunt. it pulsed for him, aching, empty. Her fingers tore at his trouser ties. “Hurry.”
He nodded, understanding, and his hands ripping the clasps on her coat apart. The cold wind from the sea stung her blazing skin through the thin material if her underdress. He tweaked her nipples through the materia, lips dropping from hers to wrap around the protruding tips, mouthing them through the material.
Her breasts ached, had been for months now, and she tossed her head against the flat rock ebjnd her, sobbing. “Jon, careful, no…”
Understanding, he pushed up her dress, groaning frustratedly when he found her leather leggings. “Dany,” he warned, his voice thin, barely in control. It was how she wanted him, her Khal Verro, losing himself.
Especially if he was losing himself in her.
She silenced any further hesitation from him in a searing kiss, one that shot adrenaline straight down her spine to her cunt, jerking her hips towards his. He got the point and with a loud grunt, tore down the front seam of her leggings.
It lit the fire already stoking in her and she released a desperate cry, echoed by the dragons above, finally freeing his cock from the many clothing layers. “I hate these clothes,” she complained, about to say something else about them, but then he slipped one long finger between her slit, another joining and she choked, trying to silence a cry in his shoulder.
“You can scream if you want,” he husked, rasping an amused chuckle. “It’s not like you’ve ever stayed quiet before.”
She screamed; a release from deep inside her belly, coiling out of her in the same high pitched cries of her sons flying above. It had been months in the making, missing him, needing him, and worrying if she would ever see him again.
He worked his fingers furiously inside of her; there would be time later for slow teasing, right now she wanted that fiery explosion and he knew it. He coaxed her with breathless whispers, asking her if she wanted more, knowing she could give him everything so why was she holding back? She groaned, one hand trying to clutch the smooth rock under her and the other scraping the back of his neck, latching him against her mouth.
“What do you want?” he asked. “Tell me.”
“Your mouth,” she begged. She laughed and cried out when he pulled his fingers free if her clenching cunt, the emptiness ringing hollow. She did not have long to fret, because he replaced them with his tongue, falling to his knees in the sand, one hand pushing her thigh up to give him greater access, the other returning to slipping along her folds, his thumb roughly circling her clit.
Her breasts rose and fell rapidly, each gasping breath exhaling as a cry. She forced her eyelids open to gaze down at him, his dark head working furiously between her thighs. She lightly pulled on the knotted bun, tilting his head enough so she could meet his eyes. He smiled against her, tongue not stopping, and she shook her head, anxiously crying out. “Now Jon, please, now!”
He tore away, beard damp from her desire, which slipped down her cunt and into her arse cheeks. She pressed her thighs together to keep the pressure going, nodding furiously when he arched his brow to ask if she was sure. Her hands tore at his trousers, returning to his cock and he pushed the waist down enough over his slim hips to free himself.
“Oh!” she exclaimed, head slamming against the rock behind her, the cold jaggedness scraping against her coat, snagging at her dress. He slid his cock through her folds, gathering wetness, and the fat head of it bumping her swollen clit. He chuckled into her neck, finding her hand and squeezing. He knew exactly what he was doing, the bloody tease. “Jon fuck me,” she begged. The heat and pressure built inside her to dangerous levels, threatening to explode. When she did, she wanted him with her.
His hesitation was obvious, his kisses bruising, but his shoulders tensing. Her palm curved on his jaw, her hips rotating up to slide along his length, eliciting a soft groan from him. Whispering, she met his gaze, his pupils wide and drowning the gray. She smiled, lips curving up at the same time she lifted her brows. “You won’t hurt me.”
The only time it had ever hurt to be with him was when he was gone. That had been a necessary pain, one she hoped they would never have to endure again. She lifted against him again, crying out at the tortuous, pleasurable pain. Her cunt pulsed, her muscles quivering, anticipating.
He slammed his mouth on hers, tongue spearing between her teeth to gapple with hers and he grunted at the effort, swallowing her scream when he hooked her knee over his elbow, grasped her thigh, and punched his hips into hers, the force of his thrust so strong it pushed her up on the rock face and tore her leggings further, her free leg flying to the side and knee almost banging her shoulder.
She screamed, Valyrian curses, encouragement and his name. Jon, Jon, Jon, a prayer and a chant, with every thrust of his body into hers. It was tight, his cock splitting her, dragging in and out of her body, her cunt grasping him, refusing to make it easy. The initial pain she’d felt at his first entry eased quickly. It was incredible, she thought, delirious.
She held his face and clutched at his hip, digging her nails into his arse, his muscles bunching and flexing in exertion. “<I> Issa darys, issa zokla,</I>” she sobbed. My king. My wolf.
It took them like the waves crashing to the shore feet away from them. The pleasure in her belly, that pressure finally exploded out, the fire coiling through her and she screamed, body arching into him, squeezing him, and she refused to let go. He was with her again. In the closest possible way, their hearts and bodies finally one again.
He shouted her name, coming not long after her, encouraged by her body still quivering around him, his cock twitching inside of her, filling her with his release. Her eyes fluttered shut, face pressed to his neck, tongue lapping a drop of sweat from his pulse. Her fingers tangled in his hair. She missed this the most.
The way he wouldn’t pull out of her immediately, the way he would always run his hands over her thighs and calves, soothing any roughness he thought he’d exhibited. How he would murmur how he loved her into her shoulder. Sometimes drop his head to her heart. Would tangle his fingers in her braids. Brush his lips over her temple.
And he did just that, his lips nudging near her ear. “I love you,” he breathed.
She nodded, sniffling the tears trickling along her cheeks. “I love you too. I missed you.”
“I’m back, I’m not leaving,” he whispered. He kissed her gently, still holding her legs and pulled free. Her thighs were damp, her body aching pleasurably. There was a tear in her coat from the rock and her leggings were useless.
They took a look at each other, when her boots hit the sand and laughed, the situation absurd. He adjusted his trousers and searched for his belt. “The lengths we go to for privacy,” he chuckled, picking up his sandy, water logged belt from the ground.
She snorted. “I fear it may get worse, we have a newborn. The Dothraki midwives always teased each other of finding time for oneself.” Except she also missed her baby and it had been about an hour. She wanted to get back to the castle urgently.
Jon used his dagger to remove the rest of her leggings and she tossed them towards some of the rocks, for some animal’s use in their den. “What will you say?” he wondered, lifting his gambeson from the sand, brushing it off.
She glanced at her bare legs. When she dropped her dress and her coat, you could not tell. She smirked. “I am the queen. No one will say such things. We were on a walk, enjoying some private time and exploring the island.”
He shrugged and offered his hand. She took it and they shared another gentle kiss, emerging from the rocks and walking back towards the castle. He glanced down at her, brow wrinkling. “Are you sure you are alright? I was…”
“Stop it Jon, you can never be too rough with me.” She snapped her teeth, teasing. “I am a dragon.”
“And so am I,” he replied with a hard kiss.
Ghost joined them near the castle, from where he had been keeping watch along the edges of the small beach. They went up the stairs, several minutes later arriving in their chambers, where Missandei was rocking little Lyella.
She immediately took her daughter into her arms, gazing lovingly after her precious child. Her miracle, she thought, kissing the pale nose, which wrinkled from her touch, a small grunt escaping at being woken early. “My darling,” she cooed in Valyrian. “Muna is here.”
Missandei smiled enigmatically, propping her chin in her palm. “Did you enjoy yourselves on your ah…walk, Your Graces?”
There was something in how she stressed the word walk that alerted Dany. She frowned, drawling. “Yes it was…exhilarating.”
Her best friend smiled again, brows arching. “Did you ah…do much?”
“Many things,” Dany murmured, smirking at her friend, who knew what she meant and nodded. They could chat later. Jon would be mortified. she cleared her throat. “Where are the advisers?”
Unable to keep his hands to himself, Jon took his daughter from her and beamed, cradling her close and walking off towards the overlook on the edge of the room, to point out the dragons.
Missandei smiled again. “They were waiting for you in the Chamber of the Painted Table but there’s a very curious thing…it seems the way the rocks are here that depending on where you are near the beach, the wind carries all manner of sounds.”
Her eyes widened, blood chilling. “Ah…really?”
“Mmmm. Qhono suggested they all take the evening off.” She laughed, in spite of herself. “Said that it was something of a Dothraki tradition. Some time after a baby is born for the parents to ah…return to certain activities.”
She was not aware of such a tradition but suspected Qhono had just wanted to embarrass the prudish Westerosi. Her cheeks paled at the idea that her advisers might have heard what went on down at the rocks. “Oh, well…”
“Lady Olenna said that you were quite lucky Your Grace. That a woman should long to have a husband who makes such sounds come from a woman’s lips.” Missandei stood and chuckled again, murmuring. “I think she plans to ask you later.”
Dany laughed. Or course. “Well…” she licked her lips, watching Jon with their daughter and her heart leaped further in her chest, near to her throat, choking her. “She can ask but it’s really very simple.”
“Oh?”
“Hmm.” She shrugged. “I love him. He loves me.”
Missandei squeezed her hand, quiet. “I am glad His Grace, Khal Verro is back. It seems right.”
She nodded and breathed out slowly through her lips, watching the man who could tear out hearts from his enemies sway back and forth in the archway, the sun set surrounding him in relief, and coo lovingly to the baby in his arms. “Yea,” she agreed. “It’s all right again.”
And she went to join him, because for all the time alone with him she could have now, she wanted the time now with him and their beloved Princess.

Retrograde: The Battle
Sandra? You ok? Prime asked.
I looked down and noticed I was practically digging my nails into his steering wheel. “Sorry Optimus. I'm terrified. I'm not sure if we'll all survive this. I'm…not sure I'll survive this. I wanna run away, but I can't leave Sam to do this by himself. I know he has Michaela and all, but, well, I don't trust her. To be frank, I don't even like her, but I know Sammy's head over heels for her and as his best friend, I can't stand in the way. I just don't know what to do,” I explained.
Can you fight?
“Huh? Well, I guess. I've never been in a physical fight, but I know several weak spots on a human. Plus, I'm trying to get into shape so I can start Jiujitsu.”
Then try to protect Sam. The others and I will protect you both to the best of our abilities.
I actually felt calmer at that. “Thanks, love.” It wasn't long before we reached Mission City, watching as people ran away from the city and the Decepticons from before recked shit up. A presence somewhere in the city set my nerves on edge. More so than anything else. Megatron. Optimus grumbled.
“Megatron?” I echoed.
Leader of the Decepticons. He cannot know of your existence, but I can't stop. I will slow down enough for you to get out and stay hidden until I can lure him away, understand?
I gulped nervously but nodded. I didn't really have a choice anyway. We rolled down an alley and he called out Now! as he crashed into a few trashcans. I jumped out of his cab, hit some bags, and remained still for a moment. Every nerve ending in my body screamed not to do what I was about to, but sometimes I can't resist an impulse.
I quickly followed Optimus, but at a distance, watching him transform and prep himself for battle. “Megatron,” he growled out.
My whole body tingled at the primal stance and baritone of his voice. Perhaps my love of cars made me a mild mechafeliac, but Optimus just took that to a whole new level.
“Prime!” A slightly higher voice crowed. I assumed the new voice belonged to Megatron. I had to bite my tongue when I saw a large grey plane fly by and take Optimus off his feet. I waited a few minutes before running out of the alley to find Sam.
I found him running in the street with some sort of cube in his hands. “Keep moving Sam,” I heard Ironhide instruct.
I ran over to catch up to Sam. “Sam! Where's Michaela?” I asked.
“Had to take Bumblebee out of the city. He got badly hurt,” Sam explained before bumping into a car with two girls in it.
“Give me that cube, boy,” a familiar voice called out. Ah shit. If that's Megatron, I think Optimus is dead. I thought.
“Now's not the time to be falling for the ladies, Sammy,” I joked as I helped him to his feet. It was the only way I wouldn't start crying.
“Hilarious, Sandra. Come on, we're almost at the building with statues on it.”
I followed him into the gated building, grabbing a led pipe for a weapon on the way. Once inside, Sam slowed down. I grabbed his arm and pulled him to some stairs. “C'mon. We gotta go up, right?”
“Yeah. I hope you like stairs.”
“Not so much, but if it saves my life, I'll climb the Empire State Building.” The sound of shattering glass drew our attention to the entrance to see Megatron looking for us. Goddammit Prime, you were supposed to live. I cursed.
“You're not gonna get us. You're not gonna get us,” Sam chanted as we ran.
“Sam, don't be a dummy.”
“Be supportive, Sandra.”
“I smell you, boy! Hmm, and the Prime's pet,” Megatron growled behind us.
“I'm nobody's pet, tincan!” Reaching what was a landing, I screamed as the floor burst behind us. “Goddamn, he's persistent.” Sam and I had to climb even more stairs, wearing me down.
“Maggots!” Megatron hissed.
I skidded to a halt before turning to the robot. “The hell did you just call us?”
“Sandra now's not the time for your boneheaded ideas,” Sam warned, dragging me away.
“He called us maggots, Sammy! You expect me not to get pissed?”
“Just run!”
What seemed like hours later, we finally reached the roof, where Sam lit a flair to attract the attention of what looked like a Blackhawk helicopter. As Sam was handing the soldiers the cube, I noticed a smaller jet land on another building. Mini Megatron? I wondered as it lifted some sort of gun, aimed it, and shot at the helicopter. “Watch out!” I shouted, pulling Sam back from the ledge. Unfortunately, the chopper wasn't so lucky and went down. I felt my heart clench but had no time to feel guilty as Megatron burst through the roof. Sam quickly scrambled to one of the statues while I tried to hide.
“Is it fear or courage that compels you, fleshling?” Megatron taunted Sam.
He didn't respond, too busy trying not to fall off the statue.
While the Cybertronian was distracted, I carefully snuck up behind him, ready to do something really stupid.“Give me the Allspark and you may live to be my pet,” Megatron bargained.
“I'm never giving you this Allspark!” Sam denied.
Megatron shook his head patronizingly. “Oh, so unwise.” His hand turning into a ball and chain, he slammed it into the roof just below Sam. “Sam!” I screamed, running over to the edge. I stopped just before it as did Sam's screaming. No. No, not him too. I thought before a burning rage took over my body. Facing the steel grey robot, I snarled fiercely. He smirked mockingly. “Ooh, and just what are you going to do Prime's pet?”
“There's a reason my last name is Phoenix,” I snapped back. Running around his legs, I used the metal pipe in my hands to bang dents into his plating before ripping out a couple of wires. He roared in pain and took a swipe at me. I dodged, but he was still able to get a claw down my back.
I screamed in pain. Gripping my pipe, I turned and quickly launched it at his head. Well, always wanted to go out with flair, I thought. “Oi, Megadork!” I called, gaining his attention. With a victorious smirk, I flipped him the double birdie and backflipped off the roof. I'll meet the others in the afterlife.

Base Villains
A Mitsuhide Akechi fanfic, approx. 1800 words. This scene occurs in Ch. 13 of the romantic route. Spoilers!
First: Mitsuhide and the Maiden
Previous: Following Orders
It was a few hours before dawn when Mitsuhide, Motonari, and Kennyo finally approached the daimyo’s fortress. Mouri and his pirates led the attack. A sensible choice, given the cannon and the fact that no sane person would want any of them behind him. The only sound on that narrow road was the low groan of wooden wheels and the steady beat of marching men.
Mitsuhide was lost in thought, his mind spinning the thousand paths this battle could take. Which led him to rescue his love, and which ended in death, separated by only the slightest action. The most banal of random events. Yet he was the kitsune warlord and he had to know - to plan - and to win.
His thoughts were interrupted by an explosion up ahead. The thundering roar of a ship’s cannon, unleashed at the daimyo’s gate. The reinforced wood didn’t stand a chance. The air around it filled with dust, smoke, and splinters.
Kennyo’s eyes went wide as he surveyed the damage. Mitsuhide didn’t like the shrewd look in his eyes. But whatever Kennyo thought, he kept it to himself. His Ikko Ikki began moving in to fight the daimyo’s forces as they rallied to defend the opening.
Motonari was already moving to the thick of things, plowing through the smoke with his sword drawn. His mad laughter was drowned out by the sound of shouting and the screams of dying men.
“Mouri is a natural at this.” Mitsuhide tracked the opening attack with cautious optimism.
“And you aren’t comfortable with this destruction?” Kennyo’s lips twitched into a brief, mocking smile.
“I never said that.” Mitsuhide drew his sword. “In my blood, in my bones - I want to be here. More than anyone else.” It was a true statement, one that encompassed his nature and his heart’s desire. The battle excited his blood - the contest of man against man, the challenge to survive no matter what stood against you. But beneath that was something even stronger pulling him forward.
A ferocious love for his little one - a need to protect her above all others. The intensity of these feelings surprised him even now. He knew without doubt that he would kill every person inside these walls if it meant she lived. And that he would not stop there, were she still in danger.
Kennyo studied his face for a moment and then shook his head. “You are a frightening man.”
“This from a man that says he willing took up the mantle of demon?” Mitsuhide smiled. “We are all devils here.”
After a beat of silence, the abbot nodded. There wasn’t anything more to say. The two men charged forward into battle.
***
Kyubei was having a very hard time. He’d disguised himself as a servant after stashing the chatelaine earlier. It wasn’t a very good disguise, just a hat and some worn clothing. His sword was replaced with a hidden dagger and a wooden baton. He hadn’t slept - just worked his way through the keep trying to find a way to smuggle the girl out before Ashikaga called for her again.
There were several routes out of the fortress, but all of them were guarded. He could probably get out easily enough - just claim to be another of the messengers sent to gather reinforcements. But the chatelaine . . . with a shaved head, her chest tied down, and some baggy clothes she might pass for a boy. He just needed to find some shears and-
“Put me down!”
He turned to see the shogun’s ‘messenger’ carrying the chatelain like a sack of rice. She was flailing, but he didn’t seem to notice her small fists or kicking feet. Kyubei felt his heart freeze in his chest. This was bad. He had to do something quickly. He drew the small wooden baton and crept forward.
The ‘messenger’ turned and raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing?”
“Ah, she is making so much noise. I thought . . . “ he gestured with the baton as if he meant to hit her.
“Unnecessary. She needs to be awake. To feel every moment of this.” He ran his hand over her rear and squeezed.
The chatelaine shrieked and hit him again, her anger and fear wordless.
Kyubei wasn’t sure how to proceed, but he needed to do something. “I - I can tie her? For you?”
The fortress shuddered from some kind of attack. It sounded like a cannon. Both men turned toward the sound for a brief moment, then the messenger hurried on. Kyubei followed. Whatever his lord’s plan of attack, it had begun. The time to escape was past, and now all he could do was try to protect the chatelaine until Mitsuhide arrived.
Kyubei leapt forward, swinging with all his might at the back of the man’s head.
The messenger sensed the attack and shifted, raising his captive up to catch the blow.
For a moment, Kyubei feared the chatelaine would take the force of it, but he managed to change course mid-swing, his baton whistling through the empty air.
She shrieked and squirmed, trying to get loose. This time, it worked.
The messenger knew he couldn’t fight and hold onto her at the same time. He tossed her aside and drew a dagger. “I don’t know who you are or what you think you are doing, but today you will die.”
“I think not.” Kyubei went on the attack. He had to take the man down fast, before anyone else entered the hall. The wood sang through the air, then collided with one of the daggers. This was only a distraction, the real blow was aimed at the messenger’s knee. Kyubei’s foot connected solidly.
With a grunt of effort, the messenger stayed on his feet. He stabbed toward Kyubei, his intent clear. He wanted to end this fight quickly too. But he lacked the dancer’s grace of his opponent. Despite his rapid thrusts, he could not catch his blade in Kyubei’s flesh.
The chatelaine slowly gathered herself to her feet. Wide eyes tracked the near-silent fight.
Kyubei couldn’t afford to worry about what she would or wouldn’t do while he was occupied. He just hoped she wouldn’t run. That would summon more guards, a complication he couldn’t afford.
The messenger slashed at Kyubei’s throat. He missed, slicing the fabric on Kyubei’s shoulder. A thin welt of blood stained the cloth.
Kyubei struck the man’s hand and heard the satisfying crunch of breaking bones. The knife fell to the floor. This didn’t slow the messenger. Just forced him to attack with the remaining blade. It was all Kyubei could do to hold him off. Pain seemed to enrage the man, making him faster and more savage.
“You will pay for that. A week of torture for every finger,” the man snarled. “You will beg me to die!”
“I never beg.” Kyubei gave the messenger a toothy grin. Despite his brave words, he was beginning to worry. This was dragging on too long. Every second they fought brought him closer to being caught. And to make matters worse, he could see the chatelaine moving. If she ran, he would have to run too.
The messenger rushed Kyubei, using his whole body as a weapon. He slammed him into the wall.
The world narrowed to two points for Kyubei. His left hand, as he fought on that side to keep the dagger from his flesh - and his chest, where the messenger kept pushing forward, crushing him slowly.
Then, with a suddenness that bordered on the miraculous, the pressure eased. The messenger stumbled to his right, dropping his knife. He turned, and Kyubei saw the gaping wound on his back.
Behind the messenger stood the chatelaine. She was gripping the knife with white-knuckled intensity. Blood dripped down the blade and stained her fingers.
Kyubei didn’t hesitate. He grabbed the chatelaine and ran.
She went along with him until they’d left that hallway far behind. After several turns and two staircases up, she pulled away from him. “Y-you get away from me!”
“My lady . . . it’s me.” Kyubei framed his face with his hands, covering the bald spot on top and the beard at the bottom. “I am Kyubei.”
The chatelaine’s eyes narrowed, studying his features. Then she dropped the knife and flung herself at him. “It is you! Did Mitsuhide send you? Where is he?” The questions came between breathy gasps as she gave in to her panic.
Kyubei carefully stroked her back, waiting for her to calm herself. “I will answer all your questions soon. Right now, we must find a way out.”
She nodded, dabbing at her bruised and swollen cheeks to wipe away her tears. “I . . . ok. Where do we go?”
He didn’t know which route to take, but there was a secret exit from the shogun’s rooms. A narrow, hidden passage in the wall that led to the servant quarters. With the fortress under attack, that seemed like the best option. Kyubei grabbed her hand and led her on - up toward the tenshu.
They passed several guard stations, but the tense men only waved them on. A servant and a beaten girl were no threat. They were waiting for the marauders - the enemy. And if the sounds of fighting were any indication, they didn’t have long to wait.
Kyubei and the chatelaine were allowed into the shogun’s tenshu. It was lined with the daimyo’s guards. Ashikaga paced the room.
“How dare they! I am the shogun! They should grovel before me. Beg!” He glanced up as Kyubei entered the room.
Kyubei tried to scuttle to the side with her, bowing low as he sidestepped. They only needed to get close enough to the hidden door to get out. Ashikaga should be too preoccupied with the battle to focus on them - at least, that was his hope. But all those plans went up in smoke as the shogun lunged toward them and grabbed the chatelaine’s arm.
“You! Girl! You are my secret weapon.” Ashikaga jerked her to his side. “The kitsune would never risk you. He is weak. Yes . . .” He studied her bruised face.
“Mitsuhide is ten times the man you will ever be. And he would risk anything for his ideals.” She straightened her back and glared up at him.
“I didn’t give you permission to speak!” Ashikaga lifted a hand to strike her.
That was when the door exploded inward. It made a sound like cannon shot as the wood gave way. In the opening stood two men.
Motonari’s face was lit with a feral snarl. His eyes glowed like coals and his sword dripped redly.
Mitsuhide was equally frightening. His clothes were spattered with ruby droplets, his lips curved in a cruel smile. When his gaze found the chatelaine’s face, his hand tightened on the hilt of his sword.
Kyubei swallowed. This was going to be messy.

My One And Only - Chapter 18
Previous | Next | Master List
Hey! Welcome back to another chapter of MOaO! I won’t be able to update this as much as I want to (I’m not really updating it as fast as I won’t to right now but I’m trying) as exams are coming up as well as other various things. (I just realized that I haven’t said this earlier I’m so sorry, Ramadan Kareem to those who celebrate it!) Also, thank you so much for 128 followers!
"...I believe I found a way to subdue Hawkmoth"
————————————————————
Her eyes repeatedly scanned the page, making sure she was reading it correctly.
"It won't defeat Hawkmoth" Damian carefully pointed out, not wanting to diminish her excitement. "But it'll be able to stop him for some time, a month or two at most"
"Do you know what this means?" Her voice was barely above a whisper. "We'll be able to have some peace of mind! We'll be able to prepare ourselves! The whole of Paris! Who know, maybe we'll be able to get some clues on his identity as well as Mayura's as well!"
By the end, Marinette was spinning around the room, her slight giggles of happiness appeared here and there. Damian chuckled at her delight, seeing her happy was probably one of his most favourite sites in the world, that and seeing her flustered.
"I understand that you're excited but what do these cryptic messages mean, 'a tear of joy'? Did I translate that correctly"
She giggled at his confusion. "No that's one of the ingredients for the power up. Speaking of ingredients, I need to get some" Her bluebell eyes quickly scanned over the tablet again before she speed walked out of the hotel with Damian on her arm. "We're going to Master Fu's old place, he still has some ingredients we could use"
The two walked in silence, there was a topic that they needed to discuss, the end of the week was approaching fast.
"Maybe in the small time of peace, I can get Father and my brothers to help"
The bluenette chuckled slightly but not out of amusement. "I almost forgot, you'll be leaving in a few days" her gaze fell to the ground before she looked up at her boyfriend, solemnly. "It's gonna be a lot different, huh?"
He squeezed her hand gently with a comforting smile on his face. "It will be but I'm sure we'll handle it"
The couple grabbed the necessary ingredients and made their way back to the hotel. They dropped them off at the hotel room before making their way upper to the restaurant to get some food. Their dinner was quickly interrupted by a rockstar coming to congratulate his niece.
"Nettie! You're rock'n'roll! Your song is a huge hit!" Jagged exclaimed once he reached the table, he only seemed to register there was another person there once he sat down. His moderate cyan eyes widened in recognition when his gaze landed on the green-eyed boy. "You must be Damian, you look just like you're old man Brucie"
Damian shook his hand when the rockstar had offered it. "I am, Mr Stone"
"Uncle Jagged-"
"You break my niece's heart, I'll send Fang to eat you"
"Uncle Jagged!-"
"And I will gladly let you"
"I approve of your relationship, I just wanted to give the shovel talk since it sounded fun"
Marinette gaped at the two males on her table. "Dami, don't encourage him! I've already got Gami waiting to spar with you"
"Ah yes, my son's girlfriend is just as scary as Penny" Jagged visibly shuddered in good nature.
"Wait, Luka and Gami got together? Without telling me?!" The bluenette huffed, offended. "And to think I'm his honorary cousin"
Jagged chortled at her reaction while Damian had a faint smile playing on his lips. The rockstar decided to take his leave shortly after that, not wanting to draw some unwanted attention. He did manage to leave a pair of blushing teens as he told them to "Use protection!" before departing. Marinette was utterly embarrassed while Damian was flustered. Once dinner was finished, the couple went back to Damian's hotel room to discuss what they were going to do next.
Doing his best to help, Damian passed the ingredients to his girlfriend who then mixed up said ingredients in a pot.
"Can you get the Tear of Joy, Dami?"
The green-eyed boy looked through the ingredients until he found the slim bottle with a minuscule amount of clear liquid. He eyed the water as it squished in the bottle, it seemed so ordinary despite the great magic it could create. Damian could almost see the water taunting him with its mystic properties, he could just about feel it as he brought the bottle closer to the cauldron.
"This is it, correct?" The ravenette showed the blue-eyed girl the bottle in his hand
Her eyes lit up when presented with the vial. "Yes, that's it" As she removed the cork that was sealing the bottle shut, Damian asked a question that was lingering in the back of his mind.
"What exactly is the tear of joy?"
Marinette turned to smile at him. "It's a tear of joy"
"So a tear caused by laughter?"
"Precisely" She looked up at the ceiling wistfully. "I remember, when Syren attacked, Master Fu was trying to decode what a 'tear of joy' was. It took some time but we managed to figure it out in the end" She sighed. "It's great that we managed to find out about 'power-ups' but if we found out about them sooner, maybe more people would've been saved."
He put his hands comfortably on her shoulders. "What did Syren do exactly?"
She stopped dead in her tracks. That wasn't the reaction that Damian was expecting, whatever had happened with this Akuma must have been bad to induce this response.
The bluenette sighed and looked at the green-eyed boy straight into his emerald eyes. "Syren was one of the most dangerous Akumas we've ever had to deal with. She flooded all of Paris with her tears, only a few hundred people managed to reach the rooftops in time"
A breath quickly sucked in through his lips, the scene itself sounded horrible, imagining it even more so, having to actually see it must have been... traumatic.
"But Ondine is doing much better with Kim. And it's all in the past, we've learnt how to deal with the memories!" Her smile hurt to look at. His girlfriend had to deal with so much and she couldn't even express her negativity without fear of becoming an akuma. Damian placed a kiss on her head as she finally got the lid off of the bottle.
Both teens watched in anticipation as the droplet rolled down to the bottle's lip, teetering over the edge. It fell in. The concoction then shimmered a silvery blue. Grabbing a bottle, Marinette poured some of the liquid inside it, looked at the bottle and hummed in satisfaction. She quickly put all the equipment used back in a box and cleaned up any mess made. Once she was finished, she turned to the boy standing over her.
"I'll bring these back to Master Fu's old apartment then I'll drop this bottle off at my house, you can tell Tikki and Plagg that they can come out now"
The contents of the box shifted to one side, Damian helped steady both the bluenette and the box before going to the kwamis. Once the kwamis where comfortably with their owners, Tikki in Marinette's purse and Plagg in Damian's hoodie pocket, they made their way to the apartment. It still technically belonged to Master Fu, he rest hadn't rented it out so they were free to roam around. After putting the equipment away, the couple strolled to Marinette's house hand in hand. The bluenette went up to her balcony, with Damian close behind, and hid the bottle under her pink-striped deck chair, away from the sunlight.
"It needs to 'mature' in the moonlight, I guess. So when the moon is out, I'll take the bottle out" Marinette gestured for Damian to follow her as she went back down to the bakery portion of her house. "I'll give you some Camembert with the power ups infused. But I'll have to make it first!"
She hummed as she went upside to retrieve other substances that Master Fu had taught her to create. In the moment she was gone, Plagg appeared.
"I hate transforming!" The black kwami whined, settling in the boy's hair.
"What's so bad about it?" Damian raised an eyebrow at Plagg's outburst.
"It ruins the beautiful taste of Camembert, and it tastes weird"
"Quit your whining Plagg" Tikki's squeaky, but still relatively scary, voice rang out as both she and her owner returned.
"But Sugarcube-"
"No 'but's Stinky Sock!"
Damian watched with quiet amusement while Marinette giggled, handing him a wheel of Camembert.
"The cheese is cut up in different slices, each representing a different power up. I'll explain which is which on the way back to the hotel"
Damian put the wheel in his pocket before taking the bluenette's hand. "I look forward to it"
~~~
Each power up was simple enough, they all had a different colour corresponding with it's ability, making it easier to memorize. The couple walked by a dark alley as Damian check the time. Passing his phone to the bluenette next to him, Marinette took one glance at the time before dragging the two of them into said dark alley. It was time for patrol. Once both were done transforming, Noir and Ladybug made their to the assigned rooftop. When landing, Noir took his staff and looked through the help guide to get a better idea of what weapon he was working with. Spinning the staff with his hands, he separated the staff into two separate batons. He hummed in contentment.
"Grayson never gave me his escrima sticks for missions. I suppose this is good training if I ever want to use them"
The two rods snapped back together with a satisfying snap. Continuing to look through the articles on his now full staff, Noir didn't even notice when Ladybug moved to stand behind him. In one swift motion, the spotted heroine pulled down the black hood that was shielding the black cat-themed hero's face.
"La-"
Her covered fingers stroked his black cat ears, she giggled as his cheeks flushed. The feeling itself was unusual to the green-eyed hero, he had never felt anything remotely similar before but he wouldn't say he didn't enjoy it. It was just... unexpected. The spotted heroine, however, quite liked making the stoic Noir flustered. His ears felt so much like a real cat's that Ladybug was nearly taken aback, she got used to it after her shock, though. Noir found himself leaning into her touch but looking at everything but her in embarrassment.
Had his ears not been occupied he probably would've heard the two other heroes arriving, he only knew they were here as he saw them in his peripheral vision, rolling his eyes as he noticed them snickering.
'Angel, Rena and Chien are here'
Ladybug's head snapped in the direction of the two other heroes, one of her hands left his head as she she greeted the fox and the dog.
"Hello Rena Rouge, Chien" Ladybug greeted them casually, something Noir knew he couldn't do at that moment.
"Hello to you too LB! Hey Noir, did the bug find a way to tame you?
He mumbled a reply.
Ladybug giggled before turning to properly address the other heroes. "I've been thinking of adding three more members. I know it's a lot since you, Rena, have only just been announced as a permanent user and you, Chien, have basically just joined. But Noir and I found something that will require their help. I have a hunch that Hawkmoth might try something like Guerrier but with the same level as Syren"
The fox-themed hero nodded. "You need all the help you can get. So who do you have in mind?"
"A Snake, a Bee and a Dragon" The spotted heroine answered with no hesitation. "We'll need a snake as it is... intuitive"
Upon registering the description, Chien chuckled. "Isn't that the point?"
"Perhaps" Ladybug hummed with a smile on her face. "A dragon can control elements, a strong power would be useful. The bee miraculous's power is immobilization-"
"Paralysis can be very beneficial when trying to stop an akuma" Noir provided his input.
"Yes. So what do you think?" The spotted heroine looked between the three heroes standing on the rooftop with her. Noir hummed approval while Chien gave her a thumbs up.
"You always have the best ideas, Bug!" Rena voiced out her agreement, Ladybug let out a sigh of relief she didn't know she was holding.
"Then I'll go get them now shall I? We gotta teach them as fast as we can" The blue-eyed heroine took the yo-yo from her hip, spinning it with a flick of her wrist. "I'll send them here and then you show them the ropes"
"Aye aye Captain!" Chien saluted and Rena followed suit, only after a quick laugh. Noir rolled his eyes in good nature while pulling his hood back up, flicking his cat ears before doing so.
Hurling her yo-yo at a nearby building, Ladybug hissed through the air, her yo-yo latching onto another building as she neared the previous. Soon enough, she landed gracefully in a quiet area where two familiar figures were strolling hand in hand.
"Ladybug?" A boy with dyed hair questioned, a bluenette with short hair and almond eyes next to him.
She nodded before pulling out two miraculous from her yo-yo with, presumably, unlimited storage. "Luka Couffaine, Kagami Tsurugi, these are the miraculous of the Snake and the miraculous of the Dragon. They grant you the powers of Intuition and Perfection. You will use these miraculouses for the greater good, can I trust you?"
Luka and Kagami shared a knowing look then turned to the heroine in front of them.
"You can count on use Ladybug"
"We're honored to be chosen to fight by your side, my Ladybug"
She gave them the miraculous and watched as they both transformed into Viperion and Ryuko. "The others are waiting at this location." She showed them a map on her yo-yo. "I'll meet you there once I finish with a task a have to do." She hissed through the air once more, thanks to her yo-yo, and landed on a rooftop that was very familiar now. There stood a blonde, leaning on the banister.
"Ladybug?" Chloe's confused voice rang out.
"Hello Chloe Bourgeois" Ladybug took something from her yo-yo. "This is the Bee miraculous, it grants the power to immobilise your opponents. Should you choose to help us-"
"I can't"
"Pardon?"
"I said I can't" The blonde looked solemnly at the heroine. "I've been an utterly horrible person, I don't deserve to be a hero. Especially after... Queen Bee"
"People can change Chloe" Ladybug put a hand on the blonde's shoulder. "As long as they are given the chance to. Do you want to take this chancep?"
Chloe stared at the miraculous before looking at the heroine with a determined expression.
"I won't let you down, Ladybug"
~~~
Ladybug soon returned with a bee-themed heroine, named Honey Bee, by her side. After a brief reintroduction, the patrol began. Rena Rouge took the west side with Honey Bee and Viperion, Chien and Ladybug took the East while Ryuko and Noir took the North, they had already checked the South. Most of the patrol was done in silence, other than the odd 'nothing wrong here'. Ryuko had been the one to start a conversation
"You're the new wielder of black cat miraculous, correct?" The dragon user questioned Noir. He recognised it as the beginning of an interrogation.
"It certainly seems that way" Ryuko hummed.
"You fancy Ladybug, don't you" The question obviously took him aback. "Do you consider yourself... worthy?
The cat-themed hero didn't hesitate. "No"
He saw her raise her eyebrows.
"Ladybug is too virtuous for this world, there's not a soul in this entire universe worthy of her affection"
The dragon hummed in satisfaction. "You remind me of the boyfriend of one of my friends. Though I have yet to be convinced that he should date said friend, you have proved yourself worthy of Ladybug. I approve of your relationship even though it isn't my place to make such a decision"
"I am pleased" Despite the fact that he is a leader in this team, he's content with the fact he has the great dragon user's approval as she is the most intimidating of the team, other than Ladybug herself.
"Also don't mess this up, Ladybug is a Queen " Ryuko casually pointed out.
"Glad I am not the only one that thinks so"
"How can you not? Have you seen her?!"
"She's a goddess"
"You have my approval again"
~~~
Noir and Ryuko were first to arrive as they had finished their patrol early, the rest of the team weren't too far behind, however.
"Alright" Ladybug began once everyone returned. "Honey Bee, Viperion, Ryuko, it'll be best if you memorize all of Paris. That way, when there's trouble, you'll know your way around."
"I found that an aerial view is the fastest way to know the city like the back of your hand!" Rena Rouge pointed out.
"That's also the way I did it!" Chien chimed in,
"Yep! If you don't mind, there's something I'd like to discuss with both Rena Rouge and Chien. Noir, will you join us?" The spotted heroine turned to the heroes named.
"I ought to" He replied flatly.
"Alright then, follow me!" Ladybug hissed through the air followed by Noir with his staff and Rena and Chien with their enhanced abilities. Soon they landed in an alley. "I know you already know this, Rena, but I think it's fair if Chien knows too"
"Fair that I know what?" His gaze moved between the two heroines before landing on the black cat hero, silently begging for answers, to which Noir returned with an unconvincing shrug.
"That you know this. Tikki, spots off!" A blinding red light filled the narrow corner they were in, Rena shut one of her eyes while Chien shut both, Noir was shielded from the light thanks to his hoodie. Then, a certain Marinette Dupain-Cheng stood where the spotted heroine once was.
"Wh- Bu- How-" Chien spluttered as his brain combusted with all the information that was flowing through it at once. Marinette giggled at his confusion, Rena full on laughed, clutching her stomach while Noir merely smirked. "But, but I saw you standing next to Ladybug! Wait no, yourself? My brain is melting! Wait, you two knew?!" The dog-themed hero screeched.
"She's my best friend" Rena shrugged with an innocent expression, her transformation dropped. Chien stared in shock.
"She's my girlfriend" Noir mimicked Rena Rounge's shrug while letting his transformation fall too, leaving Chien the only one transformed.
"Okay THAT makes sense, you're both deathly attr- Wait, did you say best fRIEND?!" Chien shrieked and detransformed.
"ADRIEN?!" Alya exclaimed, Marinette and Damian watched in amusement.
"As entertaining as this is-" The green-eyed boy cut in before the pair would attract unwanted attention. "-Marinette needs to explain the reason why she revealed her identity to you"
The bluenette nodded. "You see early today, at school, I had this 'miraculous burn' I guess you could say from Guerrier's attack. Thanks to Alya I'm feeling better but that resulted in getting my identity revealed. So to avoid anymore incidents like that, I also told you Adrien. I can't tell the rest of the team yet as I don't want them to go all protective over me, you'll three will have enough overprotectiveness"
"Not wrong there, girl" Alya said without shame.
"I know I have to tell them my true identity at some point but right now it's better just to have you three know."
"We understand" Alya and Adrien said in unison.
"Great, now let's go back to the others so we can tell them patrol is over"
~~~
It was sunset, the orange cotton clouds contrasted beautifully with the darkening blue sky. A cool wind blew through the air, cold enough to make one shiver but not enough to catch a cold. Walking hand in hand, a couple made their way to Le Grand Paris. The bluenette looked up to the noirette next to her, leaning onto his arm covered by the Robin-themed hoodie and smiling while doing so, she closed her eyes to savor the moment.
"Angel?" Damian brushed the stray hairs on her face as she pulled away to look at him properly.
"You know, I'm really going to miss this" Marinette raised their conjoined hands as they approached the hotel doors.
He hummed and in response, put his arm around her waist to pull her closer while going through the elevator doors. "I am too"
They soon reached the hotel room, the kwamis roaming around for food once they got inside. Food in hand, Tikki and Plagg sat of the coffee table, leaning on one another as Damian turned on the screen to watch a movie. Once he was comfortably seated, Marinette joined him, snuggling into his side. He brushed his fingers through her silky midnight hair. He was going to miss this, deeply. What would life be like going back, without the beautiful bluenette physically next to him?
'I do not want to find out'

Provisional Cessation, It was created for the purpose of temporarily stopping a miraculous from being used if any harm were to come to the user. It would also deem it unusable for a certain period of time if the miraculous were ever come into the wrong hands. The reason Master Fu didn't tell Marinette this information was because the last time a user tried this power up, they were put into a magical induced coma, it was too risky.

Sam said he was locked up tight in the dungeon. He was never locked in with her. She was locked in with him. The hunter becomes the hunted with no where to run.

"I'll be right back. This demon side is fighting to stay in control. I just need a few more pints of blood." Sam said as he slung a bag on his shoulder. "Yeah I got it get some food to!" Y/n said with a smile as she walked him to the impala. The roar of the engine rumbled as she waved him off going back inside what she didn't know was Dean knew that Sam just left and a chilling smile grew on his face.
Y/n popped popcorn as she sat in her room a horror movies playing as she got comfortable. A scream came from the movie drowning out the sound of the dungeon door opening up. The youngest Winchester laughed as a girl tripped over nothing her and Dean always make fun of them they had no real reason to hit the ground so they should get right up. This made her slightly sad. Was Sam going to fix Dean or was it already to late for him? Shaking off the thought the killer was about to crush the women's skull when the power cut out,but the red emergency lights didn't cut on yet which was weird. "God damnit." She grumbled getting up and grabbed a flashlight and went to the breaker to fix it walking right past the open door. Flipping the switch the normal lights don't turn on only the red ones and she turned around to get her phone to call Sam when she dropped her flashlight. Y/n gazed at the empty chair in the center of a devils trap she took off running to her room, but paused he knew she would run there for her phone and Dean or the demon he's become won't let her get help. She changed course to Sam's panic room to hide.
"Oh N/n where are you? I miss my little sister don't you miss me?" A metal sound of something dragging on the floor made her tense. Thinking of all possible things it could be of how she's going to die.–'It could be a bat,but we don't have any metal ones in the bunker. Maybe a sledgehammer, but that would have ment he when into the garage and the power going out would have locked everything.''– Her eyes widen as she released what it was he must have been carrying around she was sharpening it with the rest of the blades earlier that day."Have you figured it out yet? I know how you think when a horror movie is playing you see ever scenario before the movie can catch up. No wonder Sammy says you cheat at Clue!" Dean laughed as he seemed to wander to each room. The sound of wood splitting as he yelled "Here's Johnny!!!" It seemed so much worse that Dean was the evil this time a normal demon would know her so personally this seemed almost cruel him quoting films they watched together. "What to clichés? I admit the axe is old school."
The panic room the size of a cubbie it was so small, but just big enough I could calm down and think properly. Looking up another version of myself sat in front of me...my conscience. I could speak, but she could she's in my head after all. –"You can't run. There's nowhere to go doors locked down the moment the lights went."– I saw a illusion of myself running through the halls just to hit a corner and get a axe to the chest before it faded away. –"Can't go for your phone or your laptop he probably broke it the moment he noticed you weren't in your room."– I saw myself creep into my room just to see a shattered phone and my laptop with a cracked screen buffering to open instant messenger to text Sam. The laptop was slammed shut on my fingers causing some to break and get sliced by the glass looking up the sick grin of the Demon caught my eye before the axe ended that path. –"The burner. The one in your dresser Dean doesn't know about it so neither would the demon.Get it and get back here as quickly as possible. "– It was settled call for help. Listening for any foot steps I creep out of the hiding space a faint whistle going off down one of the many halls way from my room. Sneaking down the hallway staying low I get to my room where the door is torn to shreds as I open my drawer and fish out the phone. Going back down the hallway I get back to Sam's room and immediately call him.
"This call has been forwarded to a automatic voice message at the tone ples–" Hanging up I call again and again with no answer. At this point help was no longer a option. The whistling seemed to get closer and I rushed to the panic room until I paused. –"A enclosed space in a closet. There's not much space to move around if he finds you there your done for."– I back away slightly. –"Behind the door offers a easy place to hide and get out,but if he does the same to Sammy's door he did to yours it's not much of a hiding spot then."– A axe goes through the door creating a massive hole and Dean peaks inside and sees the white of you tank top in your (f/n) flannel. The door was whole again as I looked around the sound of metal getting louder running out of time. –"Under the bed allows you to see him without him seeing you,but like the panic cubbie not a lot of wiggle room if he hears you your done."– It was too late running to the metal door of the panic room she slams it shut not to loud to sound like she's trying to hide it,but just loud enough for the demon to register it. Sealing it shut I slip under the bed and wait for the time to get out and hopefully find a weapon.
Boots walked into the room turning to the closed closet. "Oh N/n!~ There's only so many places to hide in such a small room. Did you really think I wouldn't hear that heavy ass door close?" He chuckled darkly as he opened the closet and went to the small door. Dean tried turning the wheel to unsealed it,but it seemed to dawn on him that it could only be opened from the inside. With a huff anger he began pulling the brick of the wall started to bend outwards and crack. I was glad I wasn't in there. Going to slip out from under the bed while he's distracted the burner phone rang its annoying ringtone. Not even bothering to stop it I rush to get out faster, but a firm grip caught my ankle and dragged me out. Turning onto my back Dean stood their his apple green eyes staring at me. "Found you." He lifted up the axe having let go of my ankle lifting up my feet I put as much strength as possible into kicking his stomach. The demon was knocked back into the closest hitting the ground. Unfortunately axe still in hand. Stanfing up I ran leaving the phone behind. -"Sam took Baby so the trunk armory is out of the question. The garage has so pretty handy tools too bad that it was sealed along with the front and only entrance. Kitchen has knifes none that can hurt him,but just enough to slow him down. Library demon blade was in there last you checked, but Sam could have grabbed and put it on a high shelf."– Too many options and the kitchen was closer so that was the first stop grabbing a knife I held it tightly as a stalked slowly to the Library to see if there were any supernatural weapons.
The library was dark and the red lighting barely lit up the large room. "Would you like to play a game?" Dean mocked in a deep voice as he went around the bunker his voice echoing no real pinpointing where he is. I can't call Sam and prying to Cas hasn't worked meaning Dean made angel banishing symbols in most of the rooms. Y/n was getting desprit the bunkers massive size most of it was unexplored by them so being lost in a underground maze b wasn't the best option. "Are you scared yet Y/n? Well be afraid. Be very afraid. I'm what goes bump in the night sweetheart! Never thought the Winchester’s downfall will be by the hands of the oldest. What a twist!!! Right?" Dean yelled turning to the table I saw the supplies I cleaned with, but the weapons were gone and a note was left on in their place. 'Hey Y/n I put the weapons back into the trunk for tomorrow's hunt so you wouldn't have to...you're welcome and your blade was just sitting on the table so I put it up. ~Love Sam' I wanted to cry oh chuck nothing can save me in this buncker Bobby was sending us gallons of holy water next week because we were low...all rooms were demon proof, but he seemed to be a exception now,so no calling Crowley either.
Turning around the library doors open and I duck behind one of the many shelves. "Welcome to my nightmare!~" He said with a chuckle that bounced from every wall. Dean knocked down books and destroyed anything in his way while he looked around. Crawling on the ground I go to leave when the sound of something whooshing in the arm made me drop like a bag of rocks. The axe meet the shelf and I gazed at the red illuminated face of my brother eyes now black and demented. Laughter bubbled out of his chest as he mumbled. "Carful dear wouldn't want to lose you head." Yanking the axe free many books tumbled down. Taking the kitchen knife in hand I slash his calf and go for his thigh when the knife is flung out of my hands. "You little bitch!!!" He hissed now holding the knife and showing it into my stomach. A silent cry came from my lips bot to give him the satisfaction of my screams just yet. I look up at him and just past his head where I couldn't normally reach was the handle of my blade peeking over the shelf.
I begin to giggle and it turns into fits of laughter. Black eyes flicker back to confused green ones. "What's so funny?" I catch my breath as I lean up slightly. "You picked the wrong place to corner me. Wanna play?" Grabbing his knee and pulling it buckled under him causing Dean to hit the shelf letting the blade fall freely. Reaching out I catch it "Let’s play." Stabbing upward into his stomach the same place the knife was lodged in my own stomach. He howled in pain as I removed the blade and ran keeping pressure on the knife wound as I turned corners just to get away. -'He played with your head play with his. The intercomes...a good distraction can lead him away and let you get the jump.'- I hurry to the intercoms not before making a pit stop.
Demon!Dean POV
I growl at the wound on my body the little shit stabbed me. This makes killing her so much easier then she can be just like me. Grabbing the axe I stomp through the bunker. "What a excellent day for an exorcism." Her voice sounded through the speakers now I know were she is. "Would you like that?" I said aloud with a grin. "Intensely." Y/n said trying to make her voice horse before the clipping sound of the intercom stopping rang out before being replaced with a creepy melody that always scared her. "There was a crooked man. He walked a crooked mile he had a crooked six pence upon a crooked stile." It went on with childish like tones until it got further in the song it was so god damn loud though. "The crooked man stepped forth and... rang the crooked bell and thus his crooked soul... spiraled into a crooked hell.Murdered his crooked family... and laughed a crooked laugh." My ear drums almost burst at the loud deep voiced scream ears still ringing I didn't register the blade being driving into my sholder flinging her back I turn around as she's running down the narrow hallway taking the axe with both hands throw it straight and the axe hit her almost dead center in the spine. The audio cut off after the song and I stood over her. Y/n had her face turned coughing up blood I definitely hit her lung. "Thanks for catching it for me." I smile as I heavily put my foot on the small of her back pulling the axe out. She screamed out it was mildly gurgle from the blood. Turning her over my little sisters eyes shined with unshed tears. "Oh,no tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering." I said with a small whipping the few that slipped by she whimpered Sam's name and I grew frustrated. Lifting the axe again. "Looks like you couldn't make the cut,N/n. Just another extra that stuck around for too long." Dropping the axe down it went into her chest the creaking of her collar bone and sternum were whispers compared to the blood curdling cry. They soon died out as her skin paled and her breathing stopped she'llmake a strong demon. "See you soon." Taking the axe out I begin to drag her body.
The lights in the bunker cut back on meaning Sammy was home. Having placed her perfectly in the chair I was tied to I wait until he finds her standing next to the door. "Y/n?! Y/n!?" He yelled most likely having gone to her room rushing the the dungeon his heavy foot steps abruptly stopped. "Oh God! Y/n come on!" The moose of a man rushed in the room cradling her face in his hand. "You were too late, Sammy. She called your name before she went, but I guess five missed calls wasn't enough for you to rush home. N/n fought for so long waiting it out just for you to never show." I said closing the door as he turned to me standing infront of her corpse. "You didn't make things easy on her. I mean you took all the weapons and put the only thing to defend herself on the top shelf...like keeping the cookie jar way from a child. In some way you killed her before I could." Lifting the demon blade that had his own blood on it. I stalked towards him cornering him in the room. "Sure you won't give me a good chase, but woah she wore me out." Holding the blade to his throat when a gun shot fired and a sting hit my arm causing me to drop the knife.
Y/n stood colt in her left hand the axe keeping her up in her left. "Demons always so sure that what's dead is dead and can't be undead. Ever heard of a pulse jackass. " so distracted that she was alive Sam was able to restrain and she held a handful of bags of blood. "Let's get this over with." She bagan to inject me and I felt myself become mire human and I started thrashing hard. With the last vile in hand she looked into my eyes. "You should be dead." I hissed as she pushed the needle in. "Sorry. I'm into survival."

When the Wind Roars
(I can’t believe I finally finished this!!! This story was originally intended to be much shorter, but...obviously I got a bit carried away. Expect lots of angst. There’s some fluff, too, but mostly ANGST.)
(Plot Summary: In the past, Starscream and Skyfire made quite the team, but even then, that partnership was put to the test. In the present, Starscream and Skyfire do battle, as Starscream tries to rid himself of their shared memories once and for all.)
(Warnings: violence, guns, injury, a bit of disturbing imagery, death mention, lots of vengeful thoughts)
Present
The wind roared deafeningly at the peak of the mountain. It had only picked up in intensity in the few cycles they’d been stationed here, bringing with it a relentless rain that blanketed the world in hues of grey. Starscream scowled as he hastened to catch a stray bit of metal before it went tumbling off the mountainside, his feet nearly slipping out from under him in the sea of mud. He hated this weather. It was cold and wet and impossible to work in.
Of course, Starscream had faced far worse weather than this, but that was of little comfort.
Rumble was also fed up. After face planting in the mud for the fourth time, the minicon threw down his supply of metal beams with a cry of outrage.
“This is stupid!” he exclaimed, “How does Megatron expect us to build anything up here?!”
Starscream scowled at him, “I did not say you could stop working!”
Rumble’s small fists balled up at his sides, “What are you gonna do about it?”
Starscream didn’t like to be challenged. Without hesitation, he chucked the piece of metal he’d been holding at Rumble, who toppled over once more.
“I said work!” The other Decepticons hastened to comply as Rumble crawled out from under the metal, studiously avoiding Starscream’s withering glare.
In all honesty, Starscream was just as furious as Rumble, though his frustration was more because he was forced to work up here on this Primusforsaken mountain; he should be leading an attack on the Autobots, not laboring in the mud. This was far beneath him.
Despite his demand that everyone keep working, Starscream paused to look up at the sky. It was grey and murky but a ray of light shone through, reaching only so far as to give a hint of warmth.
He was reminded of another planet he’d visited millions of years ago. It was just as wet and windy as this one; just as meddlesome. He hadn’t been alone then, either, nor was he alone when he’d first visited this accursed planet.
A few rain drops splattered on his optics and Starscream violently wiped them away, an irritated snarl escaping him.
“Starscream!” It was Thundercracker.
“What now?!”
“Autobots!”
At first, Starscream didn’t believe him. There was no road up to this mountain. The wheel-bound Autobots would be unable to make it up here; even by foot, the journey was too perilous. The only way up was through flight.
Starscream’s optics widened. He lowered his servos from his face to find the mountainside cast in shadow. His gaze flicked upward.
Above him, in a halo of light, hovered a large, white jet.
Starscream felt sudden heat swell within him despite the cold.
“Shoot him out of the sky!!!”
A distant planet, millions of years ago...
“This is very likely a bad idea.”
“You say that about everything.”
“No, I only say that when a situation seems hazardous...this situation seems hazardous.”
“Honestly, Skyfire, you can be so cowardly sometimes,” Starscream transformed back to root mode as he touched down on a muddy precipice. He scowled as his feet sank into the muck but kept a chipper tone as he addressed his partner, “I can barely feel the wind!”
Skyfire set down beside him. The sudden weight of the two jets shook the cliffside, sending a few boulders tumbling over the edge. Skyfire watched their descent and frowned.
“You’ve seen the weather report, Starscream,” he said quietly, “The storm could pick up any moment now.
Starscream waved a flippant servo. Raindrops spiraled off his digits, “If it does, we can handle it! We’ve suffered through far worse, you and I.”
“Perhaps,” said Skyfire, “But nothing which hampered our ability to fly away.”
Starscream shook his head; he loved Skyfire, but sometimes he was a real pain in the afterburner. They’d been on countless exploration missions before and faced plenty of unsavory weather conditions; floods, earthquakes, they’d survived them all. What was a little storm to them?
“If you want to go, fine!” Starscream started walking, “I’ll complete this mission myself.”
He’d barely taken two steps before Skyfire was at his side, as Starscream knew he’d be. The smaller jet grinned up at him and Skyfire sighed.
“Let’s just get a lay of the land and go. We can come back for those crystal samples we’re supposed to investigate when the storm lets up.”
Starscream heaved a dramatic sigh, “That could take ages, Skyfire, and we’re on a tight schedule! We’re meant to be returning to Cybertron soon.”
Skyfire glanced away at that. Starscream narrowed his optics.
“What is it?”
Fiddling with his portable scanner, Skyfire shook his head, “It’s just...Cybertron has been so...contentious of late. Part of the reason I volunteered for this expedition was because I wanted to get away for a while.”
“I thought you volunteered because I volunteered,” Starscream said with a slight smirk.
Skyfire glanced at him and smiled, “I do have a mind of my own, you know.”
“Yes,” Starscream agreed, “And it’s smart enough to follow me.”
A laugh escaped the larger jet, “Or dumb enough.”
“Nonsense! We’re highly intelligent bots, Skyfire,” Starscream ruined the sentiment by tripping over a boulder, but Skyfire righted him before his face hit the mud. Coughing slightly to hide his embarrassment, Starscream continued,  “That’s why we work so perfectly together.”
Skyfire still kept a hold of Starscream’s arm as he considered his partner’s words. At last, he let his servo drift down to clutch Starscream’s hand.
“Interesting hypothesis.”
Starscream’s processor seemed to momentarily short out, but it came back online as Skyfire regarded him fondly with those brilliant blue eyes of his. Flustered, Starscream only stared, until eventually he managed to connect his processor back to his voice.
“Interesting fact,” he corrected, squeezing Skyfire’s hand, “That we shall prove now!”
He pointed up the mountain with his free servo. High above, the faintest gleam, as of polished metal, twinkled in the faint light.
“Those are the crystals.”
Skyfire squinted up at them and raised his scanner, “Hmm...they definitely have a high energy output. Akin to energon.”
“We need a sample,” Starscream broke away from Skyfire so he could take flight. Skyfire laid a hand on his shoulder before he could.
“Starscream, look at those clouds,” Skyfire gestured up at the - admittedly - ominous sky above them, “I would not advise flying.”
“So what, we climb?” Starscream had to shout to be heard over a sudden gust of wind.
“No, we wait until the weather becomes more favorable.”
A burst of lightning and a rumble of thunder punctuated Skyfire’s words. Starscream couldn’t deny the sudden thrill of apprehension that shot through his system, but he wasn’t about to be bested by a mere storm.
“I’m going for it!”
“Don’t!” Skyfire’s grip on his shoulder was more insistent, “The wind is picking up. You could get blown into the mountain side or crash to the ground. And those crystals are brimming with unstable energy! We shouldn’t get too-!”
“I am a scientist, Skyfire!” Starscream shook free of the other jet, “I know how to handle dangerous substances. And I know how to handle myself, thank you very much!”
Skyfire opened his mouth but whatever he said was lost to the wind.
“What?!” Starscream shouted.
“I said, we must seek shelter!”
“We’re on a cliff! Where-” Starscream’s response was cut short as a large rock tumbled down from above, forcing the smaller jet to leap out of the way. Scowling, he glanced up to where the rock had come from, and his optics widened as he saw still more crashing down.
“Move!” Skyfire yelled. As one, he and Starscream dove off the cliff and transformed back to jet mode. Instantly, Starscream felt the wind buffet his wings, threatening to splatter him against the cliff side. Okay, he conceded to himself, Maybe the weather is too much.
The rain poured down in earnest, now, blanketing Starscream’s windshield to the point where the world became a hazy, grey blur. A bolt of lightning arced down. It was far, far too close for his liking, and Starscream instinctively swerved away.
Extending his long range sensors, he sought a safe place to land below. Skyfire would be doing the same, he knew. His sensors probed the sky around him, trying to pinpoint the white jet so they could touch down together.
Something within him froze. He extended his sensors further, as far as he could. His engines faltered. The wind pressed in around him, rattling him to his very core, but he paid no heed.
In a moment’s frantic decision, Starscream transformed back to root mode and scanned the landscape with his optics.
Even as he plummeted to the ground, he called out desperately.
“SKYFIRE!”
Present
Energy bolts lit up the gloomy mountain as the Decepticons opened fire. As if sensing the sudden hostility, lightning split open the sky and a deep, resounding rumble followed soon after. Starscream’s optics were momentarily dazzled by the stunning displays surrounding him, and when they adjusted, three Autobots had leaped down from the sky to stand before him.
He recognized their leader, of course. Optimus Prime leveled a weapon at Starscream, though the jet paid little mind. Even as the Prime spoke, his voice deep and commanding, Starscream didn’t heed. Instead, he watched as the large, white jet above transformed and fell to the mountain top just behind Prime.
Something within Starscream burned as he locked gazes with Skyfire. Blazing red optics met piercing blue. They sliced through Starscream, as cold as the ice Skyfire had rested in for millions of years. Starscream didn’t recognize those eyes. He couldn’t even recall what they’d used to look like, though he remembered how they’d made him burn with a fire entirely different from the one raging within him now.
Prime shouted something. The Autobots charged. Two of them - Ironhide and Prowl - rushed to meet Thundercracker and Rumble. Prime defended himself against an emboldened Skywarp. And Skyfire, stance steady despite the shifting mud, raised his gun at Starscream.
The seething rage within him ignited and Starscream opened fire. Despite his immense size, Skyfire dodged, nearly trampling a terrified Rumble. Starscream didn’t let up, even as Skyfire took aim and forced him to launch off the ground to avoid the blast. Transforming into jet mode, he streaked through the air, null rays zeroed in on Skyfire’s bulky frame.
Skyfire fired off a few more shots, forcing Starscream to alter his course. His flight took him close to the other battling Autobots and Decepticons. Ironhide fired a few bolts at him and Starscream hurried to avoid the crossfire of his and Skyfire’s weapons. The distraction infuriated him and Starscream took a moment to fire on the red Autobot. Suitably cowed, Ironhide returned to his tussle with Rumble, leaving Starscream to focus every bit of his ire on the white mech firing on him from afar.
Their battle grew removed from that of the others. With each attack, they drew further away, further toward the edge. Starscream didn’t care. He refused to be beaten by this mountain or the wind and rain that assaulted him. He wanted Skyfire dead. That was all that mattered.
He streaked through the air. He was close now. Skyfire stood no chance. Sudden giddiness grabbed hold of Starscream as he imagined Skyfire offline at his feet. The traitor would die a traitor’s death; there would be no mercy.
But Starscream’s perceived victory was short-lived. Before he could even slow down, Skyfire dove forward, managing to come up under him. A servo closed around his wing and Starscream shrieked as Skyfire swung him into the ground. He landed painfully and it took a moment for him to recover enough to shift back to root mode. When he did, Skyfire stood over him, gun leveled at his face.
All was quiet, as if the increasing downpour had muted the world. The wind that howled so relentlessly before had petered out. The battle raging behind them was a distant nuisance, almost inconsequential. For all Starscream cared, the world consisted of only him, Skyfire, and the gun between them. The shaking gun.
Starscream’s gaze flicked to meet Skyfire’s. Those blue eyes stared back with a wavering resolve. For a moment that seemed to stretch across millions of years, neither made a move.
The wind sprang back to life, the distant battle drew nearer, and Skyfire still hadn’t fired. What are you waiting for? Starscream wanted to shout, Finish it!
But Skyfire didn’t, and this, more than anything, sent a surge of loathing through Starscream’s system. It fueled his null ray as he raised it in one deft movement.
Skyfire had no time to react. The force of the blast sent him careening back, his feet slipping in the mud, gun falling from his slack hand. There was no time for him to regain his balance.
Starscream watched him fall over the edge. He didn’t react for a few long moments after. All he could do was stare at the space Skyfire had occupied.
He’s gone, Something within Starscream’s spark shrank in on itself, I can’t see him.
His processor fixated on that one thought. I can’t see him. I can’t see him!
He stumbled forward, a desperate cry escaping him.
“SKYFIRE!!!”
Past
Not even the relentless gale could slow Starscream’s descent. He tore through the air, the wind shrieking as if in protest, his limbs flailing uselessly. He knew he needed to transform; if he didn’t, he’d be nothing but a mound of smashed metal and circuitry. As the image flashed in his mind, he couldn’t help but envision a similar corpse, this one much larger and a stark white against the dark landscape.
Starscream quashed the thought as soon as it arose. Skyfire wasn’t dead. He couldn’t be. Those were two differing thoughts, Starscream knew, but his processor couldn’t help but bounce between them. He’s not dead, because if he is then...There was no conclusion that Starscream dared consider, so he focused his processor, attempting to ignore the threat of his imminent demise.
He felt his transformation cog whir to life, though the transformation was made clumsy by the unconventional circumstances. The mess of green below drew nearer, serving as an unnecessary reminder that he needed to pull up fast.
Acting purely on instinct, his engines rocketed him forward. He felt leaves skim his wings as he struggled to pull upward, making for the murky grey of the clouds above. The wind was a constant assailant that threatened to dash him into the trees or the mountainside. Lightning split open the sky over and over, closer and closer.
Was that what happened? Had Skyfire been hit by a stray lightning bolt? The concept forced Starscream to tax his engines harder than he ever had. With a burst of speed, he shot upward, letting the trees be swallowed by the mist once more. Again, he extended his sensors and cursed his lack of visibility.
“SKYFIRE!!!”
No response. Starscream knew he wasn’t thinking straight as he veered closer to the mountain, seeking any hint that Skyfire may have crashed. His wing clipped a jutting boulder and he nearly smashed into the cliff face himself as he went careening off course. He was forced to climb higher in a desperate attempt not to meet with the rocks below.
Where is he? He couldn’t think. Couldn’t see, Where is he?!
Something glittered nearby, almost like…
Metal. Starscream threw himself forward, heedless of the risk, “Skyfire!!!”
The wind pulled at his wings, trying to drag him down. The noise was cacophonous, forcing his engines to roar all the louder. He would not be bested. He was so close…
The glittering material suddenly sharpened into focus. The hope glittering just as brightly within him dimmed.
In the faint light shimmered the very reason for this accursed mission. The energy crystals. No sign of Skyfire.
Starscream’s spark sank. He was sure it would drop right out of his fuselage and shatter on the jagged rocks far below. Maybe another spark was already waiting for it.
Thunder continued to growl overhead. Lightning tore through the darkness and illuminated the entire cliff side in brilliant white. An instinctive part of Starscream knew what was coming, but there was no time to react. He could only stare as the lightning zigzagged down and struck the shimmering rocks.
The crystals exploded. Shards smashed open Starscream’s cockpit and embedded themselves in his battered frame. He may have screamed, but he couldn’t hear it. Stabbing pain coursed through his entire being. It overwhelmed him, so much so that he didn’t realize he was falling until he smashed into a jutting, sloped cliff. The impact jarred loose a faint recollection.
Those crystals are brimming with unstable energy! We shouldn’t get too-
Skyfire had warned him. He’d warned him about everything, and what had Starscream said? Honestly, Skyfire, you can be so cowardly sometimes.
He felt himself sliding slowly toward the edge. Desperately, he forced himself to transform. His cockpit grated over the rocky terrain and another dizzying bout of agony washed over him. He could hear his scream this time.
Legs dangling into nothingness, Starscream sought for something to grab onto. His servos dug into the mud, clutching at nothing but loose pebbles. The cliff was too unstable and his body too heavy. The inevitable outcome to his struggles became alarmingly clear.
I’m going to fall, he stilled and felt himself slip further, I’m going to die.
There would be no saving himself this time; he’d smash to pieces on the rocks below before his taxed transformation cog could even come online. His vision flickered as his cockpit continued to grind over the rocks, bringing him ever closer to his doom. All Starscream could manage now was a faint whimper, his screams spent.
He knew he deserved this; it was his fault that he and Skyfire had been caught up in this Primusforsaken storm on this Primusforsaken planet. His fault that Skyfire was likely a shattered corpse on the mountain side. Still, as he began his final descent, a voice - a shameful voice that refused to be quieted no matter how much he tried - shrieked in his head, clamoring to be heard above all else.
I don’t want to die!
Terror seized his spark, shocking his limbs into one last, frantic attempt at salvation. It was futile.
I DON’T WANT TO DIE!
He fell. Opening his mouth, he let out a final, broken scream.
“Skyfire!!!”
“I’ve got you!”
As suddenly as the fall had begun, it stopped. His arm pulled taught and lances of pain pierced through it and his cockpit. The world disappeared, sapped of everything but a cold blackness. After countless moments, warmth and color seeped back in, as a familiar voice, the one that had called to him, spoke again. It was insistent, desperate, as were the arms clasping his limp form. Starscream’s optics fritzed a bit before coming back online. He was in some kind of cave. He could see the deep grey of the sky just beyond and feel the wind and rain graze his wing. It was all remote though. He was more aware of the arms wrapped protectively about him, the feel of someone large and sturdy holding him close. Above all else, he saw brilliant blue optics staring down at him. He watched them soften as a quiet sigh reached his auditory sensors. It was the most beautiful sound he’d ever heard.
“Thank Primus,” Skyfire breathed, “Starscream, can you hear me?”
Starscream wanted to respond but he couldn’t. All he could do was stare, drinking in the sight of the bot before him. Skyfire was alive. Somehow his mind couldn’t yet process it. He was here. They were together again.
Skyfire’s anxious voice broke in on his thoughts, “It’s okay, Starscream, it’s okay,” It was only then that the smaller jet realized he’d started babbling.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” he gasped, “I’m sorry!”
“It’s okay,” Skyfire repeated, “We’re okay.”
Starscream couldn’t stop, “We almost died! I-I almost killed us!”
“But we’re okay now,” Skyfire replied gently, “I’ve got you.”
He rested a servo on the back of Starscream’s head. The touch snapped Starscream back to his senses and he shoved him away. The movement sent shards of pain through him and he clutched a servo to the mangled cockpit situated over his chest.
“Don’t,” he hissed as Skyfire reached for him. He was still shielded by the cave, but he could feel the wind lap hungrily at his wings as he moved backward.
He stopped -  afraid to move any further - and met Skyfire’s worried gaze.
“How...” he began, pausing for a moment to gather his strength, “How can you...This is all my fault! I should have listened to you! Skyfire, I...You could have died because of me.”
“I didn’t.”
“Stop saying that!”
Skyfire regarded him helplessly. Starscream hated it.
“Why aren’t you mad?” he prompted angrily, “You should be furious! You should be...Stop looking at me like that!!!”
He didn’t. “Do you want me to be mad?” Skyfire asked quietly.
Yes...No. “I don’t know!!! Just-” he had to pause before the pain overwhelmed him.
Skyfire moved closer. Starscream told himself not to, but his whole frame ached and trembled and he yearned to be back in Skyfire’s arms, so when Skyfire reached again, the smaller jet could do nothing but melt into him. He cursed his weakness.
“Starscream,” Skyfire’s voice pierced through the turmoil within him. Defeated, Starscream could only listen.
“I’m not angry with you. I don’t think I could ever be angry with you. Don’t ask me why; I don’t know either. What I do know is that I lost you in the storm and assumed the worst, so even though you’re upset, I’d like to just hold you for a while, if that’s okay.”
It was far too easy to comply. Already relaxed against Skyfire, Starscream let himself be pulled closer. The larger jet took special care not to aggravate his injury. It would need to be dealt with, but not now. Right this moment, all Starscream needed was the surety of Skyfire’s arms around him. All his guilt and shame still burned within him, but he couldn’t focus on it if he tried.
They were safe. They were together. That was all that mattered.
“I’ve got you,” Skyfire murmured again, “I’ve always got you.”
Present
The edge of the mountain was shrouded in rain and mist. Even as Starscream dove toward it, he couldn’t be certain he hadn’t flung himself off. His arm extended into nothing. His feet dug into the mud as he felt himself fall forward, just barely managing to snag a jutting rock.
As his entire frame came to a jarring halt, Starscream’s processor seemed to rattle with it. What was he doing? He couldn’t think. The image of Skyfire’s frightened face as he tumbled over the edge was seared into his mind. It was all he could focus on.
I’ve got you. I’ve always got you.
“Skyfire!!!” The call reverberated through Starscream’s spark, splitting it open as forgotten feelings and buried dreams clawed their way out. He couldn’t halt the flood; it washed over him, drowning him in memories.
“Starscream!”
That voice - as it always had - snapped him from the mire of his mind. He peered downward. Just below him, hanging by a crumbling ledge, was Skyfire.
For a moment, it was Starscream hanging for dear life, crying out for rescue. He blinked and the roles reversed again.
As his precarious handhold collapsed beneath his digits, Skyfire desperately tried to bring another servo up to help. He was forced to stop as the movement only made him slip faster. Rain hissed over the place where Starscream had shot him and he grimaced as smoke blended with the mist. He looked up, blue optics shining in the gloom. Starscream nearly lost his grip when they focused on him.
He recognized those optics. They were the very same that used to look at him as if he were the most lovely thing in the universe. Even when they’d explored new, vibrant planets, he’d felt those optics gazing at him with a fondness that made him want to both laugh and scream. He wasn’t sure which he did now, but from the way the blue of Skyfire’s eyes widened with recognition of his own, he figured it was laughter.
“Skyfire…” he reached for him.
Eyes shining, Skyfire’s servo lifted to meet his, “...Starscream?”
His handhold crumbled even more but neither paid any heed. The storm and the clash of Autobots and Decepticons became remote. This time, though, the world didn’t seem to shrink until it was just the two of them. It seemed to grow. Starscream felt a heavy weight in his spark start to lift. His servo reached past millions of years to seek out that familiar yet forgotten touch. He wanted it more than anything, just a hint at what they once were and could be again.
In the faltering light, the insignia affixed to Skyfire’s chest gleamed.
The world shrank. The weight in Starscream’s spark settled back down until he almost felt it would drag him over the edge.
He snatched his hand away just as Skyfire’s digits grazed his own. The touch was like electricity arcing through him. It was tantalizingly, achingly familiar. It promised love and security and everything that had been denied him for millions of years.
It was a convincing lie, but Starscream couldn’t be fooled that easily.
As he stood up slowly, Skyfire’s round, wide, and impossibly blue optics followed him. Starscream wanted to plunge his digits into them until the Autobot started screaming. The flicker of horror he felt at the thought died instantly as Skyfire spoke again.
“Starscream?” he repeated, his voice wavering.
It was his voice, and for the first time in his long, painful life, Starscream was not consoled by it.
“You…” His voice should have been lost to the wind but somehow Skyfire heard and grew deathly silent.
Memories collided within Starscream’s mind. Skyfire holding him, speaking softly to him, laughing with him, exploring with him, rescuing him...
They were all lies. Skyfire betrayed him. Starscream had circled half the globe searching for him, carried the weight of guilt for so long that it had become as familiar as flight, suffered in silence for cycles upon cycles, all for what?
“Starscream,” the Autobot begged, “Please.”
The plea was music to Starscream’s auditory sensors. He let it play, let Skyfire try to sway him again, enjoying every moment of the Autobot’s agony.
Skyfire’s voice grew quiet, “Don’t you remember?”
Starscream hesitated. He did remember. All of it. His fists clenched as his foot stomped downward.
“TRAITOR!!!”
Helpless, Skyfire could only give a strangled cry as Starscream’s foot crunched into his upturned face. The Decepticon watched his enemy fall, his own face lighting up with a terrible grin.
Skyfire barely managed to slow his descent by digging his servos into the muddy cliffside just enough to crash into a protruding ledge. He lay there motionless for countless moments, his recent fall marked by dents in his fuselage and muddy stains dimming his crisp white. He looked broken. Starscream couldn’t remember the last time he’d been this happy.
When Skyfire at last came to, his gaze was unfocused. The clear blue of his eyes were crusted with dirt and likely cracked by the impact of Starscream’s foot. The steady rain did a poor job of washing all the muck from his frame, only succeeding in making it bleed into the remaining white. His optics turned upward and somehow found Starscream in the hazy mist. He almost seemed to know where the other jet was without needing to see.
It was there, atop that war torn peak, that Skyfire first looked upon Starscream with fury. No, not fury. Hate.
“Skyfire!” Optimus Prime’s booming voice echoed across the mountain, “Where are you?”
Starscream turned. The Autobots stood on a field of victory, the remains of the Decepticons’ machine scattered amongst its fallen creators. He scowled and turned to confront his foes, when he felt a sudden whoosh of air blast past him. Looking up, he watched as Skyfire sailed over his head to land heavily on the mountaintop.
Without hesitation, Starscream opened fire, only to hit the dirt when the other Autobots returned it. By the time he tentatively lifted his head, all three Autobots had retreated into Skyfire’s fuselage. NO! Starscream rushed forward, his guns vainly attempting to bring the cargo plane down even though he knew he was out of range.
“NO!” he shrieked into the mist, “COME BACK, YOU COWARD!”
But Skyfire had already been lost to the grey sky, leaving Starscream alone. Again.
He continued to stare at the space where he’d last seen Skyfire, unable to look away. He felt as if he’d been awoken from a cruel dream. It took every bit of his willpower not to scream his agony into the sky above. All he wanted in that moment was to hunt Skyfire down and make him suffer. He wanted to hear his screams of terror as he at last cornered him and slammed him into the dirt, gun pointed right between those too blue optics.
How could you do this? He’d scream, Did any of it matter? Did I matter?
Starscream knew the answer already. He turned to face his forces, who all looked to him for guidance.
“Decepticons, take flight!” Without waiting to see if they followed, Starscream transformed and took to the air. To his dismay, there was no trace of the Autobots. They’d be back, though; they never stayed down.
One of them will, Starscream vowed, That traitor will die by my hand.
The rain continued to pour as three jets - and one passenger cassette - returned to their base, leaving the mountain top to be shrouded in mist once more. All they left of their battle were the remnants of an evil machine and a singular gun that had slipped from a foolish Autobot’s hand.
Epilogue- Past
The flight back to Cybertron felt like it lasted millions of cycles. Crouched in Skyfire’s fuselage, Starscream lamented as much to his partner. Skyfire’s only response was an exasperated yet fond sigh; Starscream could tell he was just glad to hear him speak without wheezing.
The damage to his cockpit was extensive but not life-threatening. After a thorough inspection, Skyfire had determined as much. He’d carefully removed some of the smaller bits of crystal from Starscream’s frame and left the larger ones to be handled by a medic. Starscream had wanted to appear brave, but he hadn’t been able to stifle the quiet whimper that escaped him. Luckily, Skyfire responded by wrapping him up in another hug, which had instantly soothed the smaller jet.
When they at last returned to Cybertron, Skyfire was quick to usher him to a medic. In fact, Starscream’s feet barely touched the ground before Skyfire scooped him up and rushed into the medical facility. The hospital was just one branch of the science center that had been built there. For the most part, the civil unrest that had broken out over Cybertron had not affected the science community. It was only a matter of time, though.
Starscream and Skyfire were meant to report to their superiors in the Scientific Exploration department. After much convincing from Starscream, Skyfire had at last agreed to leave his side and speak with the higher-ups, taking a few samples of crystal with him, also at Starscream’s urging. It was what they’d been sent for, after all; it shouldn’t matter that they’d ended up having to gather it from Starscream’s mangled cockpit.
The procedure to repair his cockpit was fairly long but luckily Starscream was in stasis for most of it. When he awakened and examined himself, he was pleased by the results. He didn’t think he’d ever seen his windows shine quite so brightly. He couldn’t help but hope Skyfire would notice, too.
Skyfire was pacing in the waiting room when he emerged. The moment Skyfire spotted him, he almost seemed to teleport to his side.
“Are you okay? I was worried something had gone wrong.”
“Don’t worry, Skyfire,” Starscream said with a slight smile, “I am the picture of health.”
Skyfire looked him up and down, “You’re certainly...shinier,” he said with a bit of awe.
Starscream beamed internally, “Thank you for noticing.”
The two walked out side by side, arms brushing. Starscream wanted to savor the moment, but his curiosity got the better of him.
“So, what did our bosses have to say?” he asked, barely hiding his disdain. He didn’t like having to report to superiors; he’d rather make his own decisions than comply with someone else’s. Maybe one day…
“The crystals seem promising, though they’ll have to perform further tests,” Skyfire replied, “In the meantime, there’s another planet they want us to investigate right away. It’s uncharted, as of yet. There might not even be intelligent life on the surface, though long distance scans hint to a great energy source.”
Ordinarily, Starscream would have leaped for joy at an assignment such as this, but as he watched Skyfire speak, he couldn’t help but recall how close he’d been to losing him. They were lucky to stand here together at all.
Sensing his hesitation, Skyfire favored Starscream with a concerned frown, “What’s the matter?”
“You know what’s the matter,” Starscream huffed. He didn’t mean to take his anger out on his partner - especially since he was really mad at himself - but it was difficult. Skyfire didn’t respond in kind, though. He never did.
“It’ll be okay, Starscream,” Skyfire reached down to grasp his servo firmly, “So long as we’re together, we’ll be okay.”
And because Skyfire’s voice never failed to console him, Starscream believed what he said. He squeezed his servo back and smiled up into Skyfire’s brilliant blue eyes.
“Together, then.”

“Do this for me, and you will see Andromache and the others.”
Overcoming his initial shock, Booker had tried to explain the one-hundred-year exile to Quynh, but she wouldn’t hear it.
“There is a war coming. I need you to help me get the weapon to stop it.”
He resisted the idea immediately, even if his whiskey-soaked brain was intrigued.
“All you have to do is retrieve it. You want to protect your family, don’t you?” She downed the glass of water. Pulling a slip of paper from her coat, she set it on the counter and placed the glass atop it. “Decide, Booker, whose side you are on.”
A few days later, a mostly sober Booker found himself searching the address online.
The result appeared on his screen: a military installation.
He had to laugh at the absurdity of it.
Of course a weapon of war would be in a military installation. Had he not been so deep in his cups, he would have come to this conclusion once he saw the address was located in the United States.
He leaned back in his chair and stared at the screen, arms folding across his chest. He shouldn’t get involved, not when it would put him back in the group’s path. He didn’t deserve to see them, the exile notwithstanding. That was just a formality for him. The shame is what kept him away.
Or so he told himself.
But if Quynh was right, how much worse would he feel if he did nothing and they were hurt?
Booker rubbed his stubbly face. Quynh. How did she get out? Did the others know already? His shock and his drunkenness had prevented him from asking the questions he needed. She hadn’t even left a means of communication for him to contact her.
Warning bells chimed quietly in the back of his mind, but he heard them only dimly through the liquor fog.
For six months, he had spent his days in the pub and back in his apartment, marinating in whiskey, whisky, and scotch. He was looking at ninety-nine-and-a-half more years of that.
The address beckoned.
He booked a flight to the United States.
~~
When Booker put his mind to something—which, admittedly, hadn’t been often of late, as that required drive and hope, both of which had been lacking—he accomplished it.
Which is how he ended up inside the military installation, following the instructions written underneath the address on the piece of paper. Having lifted a security card from one of the men leaving work for the day, he had access to the floor he needed: deep in the bowels of the basement, some four storeys down.
With the changing of the guard at his time of arrival, he slipped through the security checkpoints with his head bent over a clipboard he lifted off a desk as he passed. He swiped through each checkpoint with the stolen ID and stepped into the elevator, taking it all the way down to the sublevel he needed.
The elevator doors rolled silently open on a long cement hallway with stark overhead lighting. Booker squinted against it, his eyes smarting.
A lone door stood at the far end.
Booker glanced down at it, small alarms chiming in his mind. If the weapon was so dangerous, why was it in a solitary room without extra security? The card reader beside the door seemed like all it needed was an ID.
Propping the clipboard against the wall beside the elevator doors, Booker drew his pistol and slowly advanced down the hallway. His shoes made the slightest squeak against the floor as he moved.
The hair on the back of his neck prickled as he stopped before the door. He swiped the card through the reader.
The door clicked open.
Readjusting his grip on the gun, he nudged the door open with his shoulder, easing it open slowly and then all at once, the muzzle of the gun sweeping the room.
You sat on a chair in front of another chair, your feet propped up on it. Booker tensed as you lowered the book in your hands a fraction, enough for him to see your eyes—and for you to see him.
Your face lit up. “You’re new.” Your attention slid to the gun. “Really new.”
Frowning, Booker glanced around the rest of the room. An examination table occupied the corner nearest him, though no tools were in sight. An exposed bathroom—a toilet, shower, and sink—stocked with toiletries, stood tucked into another corner opposite a thin cot with a foot locker at its end. A bookshelf overflowed with books beside a small flatscreen TV.
Booker’s confusion intensified as he returned his attention to you. You sat in the same position as before, though the book, your place held by your finger, had moved to your lap. There was no fear or anxiety in your face…only a bright curiosity.
“I’m looking for something,” he said. There wasn’t much he could say. His gaze swept the room again. No cupboards or storage units. The cot didn’t even have anything underneath its metal frame.
He twitched as you moved in the corner of his eye. Legs unfolding from the chair, you set your feet on the floor. Something about the movement unnerved Booker. You placed the book down in the second chair.
“Tell me what and maybe I can help,” you said, smiling.
Quynh had gotten it wrong. Booker took a step back toward the door, hesitated. The look on your face was so earnest, so genuine, it couldn’t hurt to ask…
“I’m looking for a weapon. Someone told me it was here.”
The light went out of your face, disappointment flickering across it. “Oh, that.” Sighing, you stood, rolled your shoulders, and said, “I can help with that.”
Eyebrows arching, Booker lowered the gun. “Thank you.”
You stepped over to him, just within reach, and smiled, though it didn’t reach your eyes. “Sure.”
You didn’t move.
Alarm bells rang again in Booker’s mind. “Where is it?”
“You’re looking at it.”
Your hands darted forward, closed around the gun. Twisted.
Booker’s wrists snapped.
Pain lanced white-hot up his arms. He jerked back with a harsh cry.
“Is this a test?”
He glanced up at you, brow furrowed with pain and confusion. You stood beyond his reach, the gun held loosely at your side. Booker leaned against the door behind him, blinked away the pain-induced tears. His hands hung useless from the wrists, dangling grotesquely.
What the fuck was he dealing with?
“Is it?” you asked again.
Booker forced himself to ignore the pain. Already he could feel something at work within him, knitting the bones back together.
“Not a test,” he answered.
His wrists snapped back into place, fingers suddenly back under his control. He glimpsed your look of surprise. But in the split second he saw it, it seemed different than the surprise he was used to seeing. There was something else behind it.
Booker lunged forward, one hand reaching for the hand holding the gun, the other for your shirt front.
But you weren’t there. You were behind him, your hand clamping down on his collar. With a soft grunt, you used his own momentum—
—and swung him across the room.
Booker smashed into the bookcase, skull cracking against a shelf, books scattering around him as he hit the ground. His whole body ached, pummeled and already exhausted.
He saw through hazy vision your feet approach and stop a few inches away.
“Why are you here?”
The hope in your voice struck an odd note in his concussed mind. “The weapon,” he mumbled. God, he could use a drink.
The world fell into darkness.
~~
Booker seized awake, gasping violently. On his feet, he swept the room.
Empty.
The door was propped open a fraction, just enough for him to glimpse out into the hall.
Also empty.
The gun was missing, as was the keycard.
Swearing under his breath, Booker staggered out into the hall and to the elevator, hoping none of the doors he’d come through needed the card to swipe out.
As the lift took him up out of the bowels of the compound, he struggled to understand what had happened. Even with his own momentum against him, it would be impossible for someone to fling him across the room like that.
Or snap his wrists like they were candy canes.
~~
The security guard swiveled away from the camera feeds to face her coworker. “Call General Howzer. We have a problem.”
~~
Years of stealth operations allowed Booker to escape from the compound just as the alarms sounded and everything went into lockdown. He was in his car, driving away, as the teams rolled out to sweep the premises.
He drove calmly, as though nothing was amiss. On the freeway, he disappeared among the evening traffic.
He relaxed only a fraction when he made it to a lonely stretch of freeway some thirty miles away.
A lonely stretch of freeway with a dying strip mall off to one side.
LIQUOR read one of the signs. A beacon.
Booker pulled off the road and parked the car in shadows. Trying to appear as calm as possible, he entered the store, basking for a moment in the familiar harsh glow of its lights—how did all liquor stores have this lighting?—before heading to the whiskey.
He bought two bottles and had hardly stepped outside the door before he was chugging at the first one. He nearly cried as the liquor washed over his tongue.
Throwing himself behind the steering wheel, he took another long swig and squeezed his eyes shut. He needed to get back to Paris, change apartments, dig in for the century-long wait.
Something cold pressed against his neck.
His eyes peeled open.
“Hi,” you said into his ear.

~a/n: so things heat up a bit in this chapter... I hope you guys enjoy the faster pace, it felt right to me but there are more scene cuts etc so I hope it works :) and huge thank you again to everyone reblogging my work! I see you and it really helps me out xx

Taehyung wondered if you noticed.
He knew you were often asleep long after he left, but he wondered if you remembered the times he had woken up with an arm over you, or when you had both moved closer in the night, or the way he would let his sleepy eyes wander your face before he decided to face the world.
Or maybe it was all lost in the haze of sleep for you, belonging only under the covers and in the dark.
He wondered if you ever heard his singing again. Whenever he sang in the mornings, though he had always enjoyed doing it for himself, he thought of you. He hoped you were listening.

After the excitement of hitting the jackpot with Soonjae, you spent your days with Tae’s books again. You had served your purpose, assured by him that they didn’t need more than one inner member for the time being. You doubted you would have found anything on the last member of the list, ‘Jintao’, anyway.
Days and books passed. So did nights with Tae.
It became clear to you that his way of expressing himself was quite physical. Though you enjoyed his touch, and initiated it yourself, you knew that to him, it was just the way he was with friends. Nothing more.
But it didn’t matter to you, as you enjoyed yourself in his company anyway.
Another meeting was called. This time it was much more fruitful, and a date was set. Since the last one, members they had already gathered from Shinhyuk’s gang had been able to pass on information to root out more members, and so on.
As Jin confirmed that Soonjae had successfully been bought out with a healthy mix of blackmail and promises of freedom, you glowed. The boys weren’t shy to thank you as well, even though they had doubted you at first.
Jungkook had found out about a deal Shinhyuk himself would be present at, though Jungkook was not required. And they were using the shop Shinhyuk had gained after his earlier attack, so he would be in the middle of their territory and at their mercy.
This was their chance to turn the tables on their enemy.
The idea was to capture Shinhyuk at the deal, and with him gone, the rest of the gang would be ready to fall apart. Their allies could move in, easily taking the area Shinhyuk had dominated for so long.
During the subsequent movie night, you and Tae shared a private toast with plastic cups of coke. To your hard work, though you insisted he share some of the credit.
As you chucked away the litter in the kitchen that night, out of breath after just a minute, you rediscovered your pack of red pills. You certainly hadn’t been taking them consistently.
That night, the rare occasion came when you could not get to sleep. Lying in the dark, you gazed over at Tae, just a lump under the duvet as he slept. You had shared in the excitement and hopefulness with the others earlier, but now you couldn’t help thinking-
What would happen when it was all over?
If they succeeded, and you could go back home, what would happen to you?
Last time you had interacted with Tae, and it certainly couldn’t be classed as more than that, you had gone straight back to normal afterwards. He had been charming, and of course he was attractive, but it had been easy for you to stay away, knowing his friends and their reputation.
Or at least you thought you had known.
Now you had met them all, shared takeaways and movie nights, and you and Tae had shared far more. You couldn’t forget about it. You wouldn’t want to.
Tumblr media
“Are you excited?”
Pressing your lips into a smile, you gave Taehyung a nod. Not the most enthusiastic of responses.
Today was the day.
That evening, if everything went according to plan, Shinhyuk would lose everything, and you would be free. You could see your dad again. Go back to your place.
It wasn’t that you weren’t excited, but the excitement was swamped by everything else you were feeling.
“Hey, it’s gonna be ok,” Taehyung took your silence as denial and shuffled closer to you where you were reading a book against the headboard, eventually laying his head on your shoulder. And though it thrilled you, you stiffened. Trying your hardest not to react, you stared down at your book without absorbing any words.
Tae had opted to stay home from college today, even though the raid was to be in the evening.
Together you had made a ‘fancy’ lunch of pancakes, watched a short film and now you were anticipating the hour when he would have to go. Today had felt too full of goodbyes. You knew, however, that there was still one more to come, when he would leave to fight once and for all.
“You’ll get to go back home!” he attempted again to lighten the mood, but his words only made your heart heavier.
Sighing, you put your book aside, tilting your head to lean on top of his.
“I don’t know what I’m gonna do when I see my dad.”
“Trust me, you’ll be happy when you see him again.”
“You’re right,” you sighed again, “I just… he got us into this whole mess – not that I don’t understand why.”
Taehyung considered you for a second.
“Not everything was his fault. He just did it because he loves you. He wants the best for you.”
“Why are you right about everything?” you laughed, making your shoulders shake and dislodging Tae’s head from its spot.
Sitting up fully again, he shoved your shoulder gently in retaliation. There he stayed, face slightly obscured as he sat forward while you rested back.
After a moment of silence, his impatient hands flipped his phone over.
“The others are setting off,” he informed you. You had learned that the eldest four were going to lie in wait, Taehyung and Jimin going in later as backup. Jungkook was at one of Shinhyuk’s other bases, known simply as ‘angel’, out of suspicion’s reach.
Taehyung didn’t have long.
“Do you think…” he started, voice low and quiet, “do you ever think that even though everything that happened, with your dad, though it was messed up… maybe something good came out of it?”
You stared at the back of his head.
“I wouldn’t have met all of you guys otherwise,” you admitted, “it’s been fun with you.”
Nodding, Taehyung finally turned, positioning himself in front of you. Your eyebrows furrowed as you saw him look down, taking a deep breath.
“You know, when we had that project together, it was never more than a crush,” his eyes came to meet yours and your heart thudded in your chest. He was so close to you, watching you intently, “but, Y/N, I really like you. And it’s not good, what happened, but I’m glad you came to my door that night. And I know I’m going to miss you after all this so I had to say something, maybe I’m crazy but-“
“You’re not crazy,” you finally found your voice after staring in awe at the boy, at the words coming out of his mouth, “I-I feel the same. I want this to be all over with Shinhyuk, but I don’t want to stop seeing you. I don’t want to go.”
You were sure the look in his eyes was mirrored in your own.
Shakily, he exhaled.
The two of you were so close now, the air around you static, holding its breath as you leaned forwards, closing the distance.
Until your lips met, you hadn’t known how much you wanted it. Taehyung’s hand came up to cup your jaw softly, the other travelling to your waist as you savoured the kiss, blissfully sweet but filled with longing.
Chasing more bliss, you tilted your head, transforming the kiss from something gentle to something more, and all too soon it was over, leaving you both panting, foreheads resting together, breathless smiles on your faces. Returning the gaze from Tae’s dark eyes, you looked back with just as much awe.
His eyes dropped once more to your lips. Your own parted in anticipation as you watched him dart his tongue out subconsciously.
Then his phone buzzed.
You both hesitated, but pulled back. Today of all days, you were aware the messages would be important. As he reached across the bed for the phone, his hand enveloped yours, happy now he could finally hold it when he wanted.
The screen lit up, showing only two words from Jungkook.

One of Hoseok’s hands rested on the wheel. The car was engulfed in shadow, the four boys silent as they watched their target across the street.
Before, it had looked unassuming, just another local business in the row of shops crammed together. Now, the sign had been ripped down, leaving a gap in the otherwise continuous row of neon and paint that made up the front of other businesses. Both front windows were shattered, painting spiderwebs over the black canvas of the dark interior.
Tonight the road wasn’t busy. It was easy to spot as the car pulled up outside, two men in suits leaving it and entering the shop.
“They’re early,” Jin muttered, but they prepared anyway.
The deal would be over quickly, Shinhyuk just coming to pick up and inspect his new haul of weapons.
Sticking to the shadows, Yoongi led the way, easily blending in with the streets in his slouchy black clothes. Hoseok tapped his foot as he watched his friends leave one by one.
The men inside jumped when Yoongi threw the door open, holding his glock confidently in front of him. Namjoon and Jin flanked him, pulling out their guns as well, leaving the two men outnumbered, one behind the counter of the shop where the package was due to be, the other’s hand flying instantly to the holster on his belt.
For a moment, the only sound was a car starting up outside.
Then the second man turned around, gun raised, and fired. Yoongi ducked, running forward at a crouch as the glass door behind him shattered, two more shots going off as the other suited man fired and Namjoon retaliated.
Another shot flew past his shoulder as Yoongi dived over the counter, tackling his opponent, quickly handing him a fist to the face, hand fisting his collar.
From the other side of the shop came the grunting of the others as Namjoon and Jin took the first man down. In the struggle, he started yelling.
“Backup! Backup!”
Jin ripped an earpiece from the man’s ear, tossing it across the room.
Once they had both of them under control, Jin pressing the face of the man that had shouted into a table, arm in a lock behind his back, Yoongi pinning the other down with his gun lying uselessly in the middle of the shop floor, Namjoon strode to the counter.
“Where is Shinhyuk?” he demanded, looking between both men, neither of which were the intended target.
Not a word came in reply.
Maintaining his composure while the other two looked between each other in panic, Namjoon reached across the counter to lift up the large duffel bag that lay there. He frowned.
Placing it on the top, it made no sound, and pulling open the zip revealed the bag to be full of rolled up newspapers.
“What is this?” Namjoon’s fury bled through his words as he rummaged in the bag, coming up empty handed. A few balls of newspaper rolled onto the floor, but no one else dared move.
Looking at the man below him, Yoongi found he looked as dumbfounded as the rest of them.
“Where are the weapons?” he shook the guy, glaring at him until a reply left his lips.
“I-I don’t know, Shin said we had to come and pick them up-”
The buzzing of a phone sounded, and Namjoon pulled his out.
Code Black
He whirled around, but no one was to be seen outside. Only their own car.
Jin stepped back, releasing his captive.
“What is it?” he asked Namjoon.
“Jungkook. It’s a trap,” the blond ran a hand through his hair as he looked around the space in panic. They were in a dead end.
Yoongi was standing too now, and followed his leader in a heartbeat when he moved to the door.
“Where the fuck’s our car?” one of the men spoke behind them.
“’E’s left us,” the other responded in shock, “no one’s coming.”
Turning, Yoongi found them both standing, lost, staring at the empty road outside and the fake bag of ammo.
“You should get out of here,” he warned, stepping into the night.
Tumblr media
“Bring him in.”
Shinhyuk had turned off his screen the moment he saw bangtan approaching the shop. He had sent disposable men; whatever happened to them now didn’t concern him. Catching the rat did.
Now, he strolled into the room where Jungkook was held.
“Well played, Jeon,” he snarled, “Very subtle.”
The boy glared back at him with ice in his eyes.
“I know you stole the file,” he continued, then to the guards flanking him, “search him.”
Struggling against his bonds didn’t help, but Shinhyuk’s smirking face had riled Jungkook up enough that he didn’t care about the metal digging into his skin. He didn’t know where his friends were. He had only had time to send out that one message as the guards had come barging in to get him.
At least he could take pride in the amount it had taken to get him under control. There were several nursing wounds upstairs as they spoke.
As rough hands patted at him, pulling his clothes and making their way into his pockets, Shinhyuk kept talking.
“I had my suspicions, Jeon. You proved them today. You were the only one I told about the deal, the perfect opportunity for bangtan to try and make a move, but it was just a fairy tale,” his lips curled up into a wolfish smile, “there were never any weapons. There was never any deal.”
He looked on, chuckling, as the search concluded, but the result pulled the smile right of his face.
“No file?” Jungkook took his turn to smirk.
“I know you’re the rat, boy,” Shinhyuk advanced, pushing his face right into Jungkook’s space, “but if you aren’t, how will your pretty friends know where to find you?”
Jungkook’s blood ran cold.
He was the bait.
Shinhyuk’s laughter rang out through the room, haunting him even after the man had slammed the door behind him, leaving Jungkook struggling against his bonds alone in the cell.
Tumblr media
“Code black – Jungkook’s been found out,” Namjoon began addressing the tense boys gathered in his front room.
“They’re holding him at angel,” Taehyung added. He clutched his phone with white knuckles, having just been using it to speak to the leader of that specific base, the first rival that had defected to their side.
“Right, we can easily get in there and get him back,” Jin spoke remarkably calmly.
“Not so easy, actually,” Tae’s voice was dark, “Shinhyuk’s there too now. He’s waiting for us to come in.”
Every one of them was sitting forward in their seats, wracking their brains for a next move after they had been played and taken off-guard. Jimin lowered his head, running both hands through his hair.
“What if we turn up in one of Shinhyuk’s cars?” Hoseok suggested, “we can call on some of the drivers.”
“You’re right,” Namjoon nodded, “we still have the element of surprise on our side. He doesn’t know we’ve infiltrated him.”
“But let’s just get in, get Jungkook, and go,” Jimin said.
“Right,” Namjoon agreed, “today doesn’t have to be our victory anymore. Let’s just get Jungkook back and safely.”
Together, they stood, filing out of the room in silence.
Tumblr media
You couldn’t stop reliving your kiss with Taehyung all evening. He had been gone a while, leaving in seconds after he checked his phone, hurriedly telling you something had come up.
Worried though you were, you knew all you could do was wait. It wasn’t easy trying to stay patient after you and Taehyung had finally confessed to each other, and you wanted nothing more than to continue where you left off.
Equally, your mind wouldn’t stop running through all the worst case scenarios. How would you know if something bad happened to him?
Trying your best to preoccupy yourself, you read for a bit longer, pushing away the nerves over what could be happening out there right now. Every time your mind drifted from the page in front of you, you told yourself there was nothing you could do. The plan was a good one, and now all the boys had to do was pull it off.
Somehow that didn’t help.
As darkness fell, you quietly made your way downstairs, closing the curtains while staying out of sight. You didn’t even turn the living room light on.
Already you were a little out of breath, so you stopped and rested on the arm of the sofa.
That was when someone knocked on the door.
Turning towards the sound, you started walking, but stopped yourself only feet away from the front door. Tae’s friends sometimes knocked, but they all had their own key too.
A second knock sounded, louder this time.
Frozen on the spot, you debated with yourself. Who on earth could it be? Maybe something had happened to Tae, and they were here to tell you…
The banging resumed, this time with a shout.
“Y/N?”
You gasped. That wasn’t one of the boys, but it sounded a lot like-
“Jake?” you muttered under your breath, approaching the door to look through the peephole.
Sure enough, there was your college friend on the step. He was looking down at something you couldn’t see, but it was him alright.
Cautiously, you lifted your hand to the catch and opened the door a crack.
“Jake?”
His hands flew behind his back, making you frown at him.
“Y/N…” he pushed at the door, which you let fall open just a little bit more, “I can’t believe I’ve found you, it’s all gonna be okay, yeah? We’ve been looking for you for so long…”
“Oh, Jake, I’m sorry…” you shuffled in the doorway. He was standing close to you, eager to be let in, but you stood your ground, “I couldn’t get in touch, but I promise I’m fine I just-“
“Y/N, you aren’t thinking straight,” he pushed forward again.
This time you weren’t strong enough to stop the door opening. You stepped hurriedly away from him as he crossed the threshold. You wanted to sit down again, but you didn’t feel comfortable with Jake in the house.
“We were so worried at college Y/N, and so is your dad” he begged, holding his hands out, “let’s just get you home, okay?”
Frowning back at him, you didn’t move, so after a second he walked closer instead, driving you further down the hallway.
“Jake, please leave,” you told him.
What he was saying didn’t make sense. Your dad was under Shinhyuk now, your college friends couldn’t have possibly contacted him-
“Let’s go home, Y/N,” he said.
But you knew your ‘home’ wasn’t safe anymore. Your eyes darted to the open door behind him, wondering if you could run. Then you saw something.
Two long metal pins were jammed into the lock at the front of the house. He had been trying to break in.
All you knew when you started running was that you weren’t going with Jake. Rushing through the kitchen door and slamming it hard in his face, you dashed out of the side door, straight onto a small alley between two houses. Not letting your feet stop, you ran as fast as you could, away from the main street and further into unfamiliar paths.
Behind you, the door slammed as Jake gave chase, but instead of calling out to you, he shouted, “this way!”
Then more footsteps joined him.
Blood whooshed through your ears, chest constricting after only a couple of corners, but your pursuers gave no sign of letting up. The stab wound seared in your side, and for a moment your vision went white. It was only a split second, but you knew you were in trouble.
Not now, not now…
You willed your legs to keep going. You had to get away.
Then the bang of a gunshot deafened your ears and you ducked blindly, stumbling forwards before picking up the pace again.
One more shot hit the wall by your ear, making you flinch away.
Sparks were filling your vision, and you could barely breathe, but you pushed yourself, knowing danger lay behind. Your eyes screwed shut against the pain as you forced yourself to run, when a bang sounded, followed by a new, burning pain slicing through your shoulder.
You were unconscious before you hit the asphalt.

Playing With Foxfire Kin’emon x Reader (Modern AU) Ch 1
Tumblr media
TW: power imbalance, cheating, and age gap
(2.1k words)
Kin’emon x reader x slight Sanji
Summary: You have a summer internship at the Kozuki company, and have to stay at Kin’emon’s home. You try to limit your attraction to the married man, but the flame of passion burns bright. And playing with fire can only lead to one thing— getting burnt.
AN: I originally did this for myself and my sister as a joke— since there is little to no fan fiction for Kin’emon— but decided to post it. Hopefully you enjoy and cringe at some parts.
I fumbled my way through the airport. The musk of others smudged onto my shoulders while I bumped down the path as if I were in a pinball machine. The sound of the wheels of my suitcase grounding me on Earth before all of my thoughts flew away.
I raised my hand to shade my eyes as I stepped out into the open, while my foot jutted back from the force of the wind. I squinted down the road, but there was not an awaiting person in sight.
I sighed, and sat down on a sun-warmed bench near a smoking man. As I grabbed the side rest, the tacky feeling of day-old gum made my arm jump in revulsion.
“Ew, that’s so nasty,” I shook my arm as if the action would make the gum magically disappear, and then reluctantly started to pull it off with two fingers.
“Here let me help you,” another set of arms entered my vision. The stranger pulled out a handkerchief and scraped any residue off of my arm jacket.
“Thank you so much, you’re a lifesaver,” I turned to him, and stopped mid-thought.
His eye was staring at me intently, but I could only appear to focus on his swirly eyebrow— his singular swirly eyebrow.
“I think being a life saver is a bit of an over-statement, but I’ll take it.” He paused and tilted his head, yet the hair that covered one of his eyes did not budge. “Is there something wrong?”
I paused, “No, it’s nothing. I’m just a bit air-headed sometimes.” I flushed as I rubbed the back on my neck.
“Well, I think air-heads are cute,” he held out his hand, “Sanji.”
   “Y/N,” I said as I replied with a handshake.
Once we retracted our arms he leaned over to his side, and proceeded to fill the atmosphere with the rottenly-sweet scent of tobacco. After a large puff, he released a light cloud into the air. The smoke got thinner and lighter as it floated up and died in the sky.
“What brings you here Y/N?” Sanji held out an unused cigarette and raised an eyebrow.
“I have an internship this summer,” I said as I shook my head and pushed the offering away.
“Let me guess...” he paused, “ Kozuki?”
“Yep,” I nodded. I threw another glance at the street, and the emptiness made my foot begin to tap the floor. “I think there was a guy that was supposed to pick me up.” I looked down at my phone- 4:57- a few more hours and I would no longer feel safe walking the streets alone.
“If you want, I can drive you. Just give me the address and we’ll be on our way,” Sanji offered a handsome smile.
My eyes quickly darted to his figure. He was tall and slender, but most of his form was hidden under a finely made suit. He shifted in his seat awaiting my answer, and the movement drew my attention to his abnormally built leg muscles. His demeanor was goofy, but I had only known him for a span of a few minutes.
As much as I wanted to say yes, there were far too many episodes of true-crime documentaries watched for me to allow this stranger to drive me home.
“No, I should be okay. I think I’ll wait a bit longer, and if he doesn’t show up I’ll call an Uber or something,” I said as I watched him lean back onto his seat.
“Well, I’ll wait until you’re out of here safely. I can’t leave a lovely lady like yourself all alone,” Sanji smirked as he crossed his ankles.
“Are you implying that I am incapable of handling myself?” I raised an eyebrow in  playful contention. He raised his hands as if to calm my rage.
“Of course not, but it’s better to be safe than sorry,” he said, as I leaned back into the bench.
Time quickly passed, and before either of us knew it we were watching the sky’s rolling clouds pull back and reveal an assortment of summer-time colors. The falling sun lit up Sanji’s flaxseed hair—spinning each strand into a gold thread. Perhaps it was a mistake to decline his proposal.
“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” I said, glancing back at my phone.
“I’m meant to be wherever you are, mademoiselle,” he placed a hand on his chest.
I picked at my nails, and rolled a strand of my hair between my fingers, “Stop joking, you could do way better than me.” He gently clasped my hands.
“You’re selling yourself short. From the time I have spent with you I can tell that you really are gorgeous,” he looked me dead in the eye. The intensity and suddenness of his icy-blue gaze made me look away.
“I’ll take the compliment,” I said, before turning my eyes to the side. To my surprise I saw a man holding a sign with my name on it. “It’s about time,” I shook my head as I looked back over to Sanji. “Thanks for keeping me company, but the dude finally showed up. I have to get going.” I stood up, my knees clicking from being immobile for too long.
After waving goodbye, I dragged my suitcase across the concrete to greet the man. The closer I walked to him, the taller his looming figure became. As we both stopped our pace, my eyes widened in distaste as I looked at him.
His top-knot bobbed as he tilted his head, which provided a stark contrast to his worn out graphic tee that was half-way tucked into a pair of cargo shorts. He took a step towards me as he outstretched his hand, and I heard a resounding wooden thunk. My eyes trailed down to reveal a set of wooden clogs and knee-high socks.
“I am deeply sorry for being late, I was just a bit busy.” He rubbed his neck with his other hand, which revealed a raspberry colored hickey. I bit the inside of my cheek, as I looked to the side in disbelief— trying not to stare at anything in particular. “Oh, you must be looking at my car. It is an antique—”
“Y/N,” I hurriedly shook his hand. “I believe I am to stay at your house during the entirety of my internship at Kozuki?”
His heavily lined eyes blinked a few times before he opened his mouth, “You are correct. I am Kin’emon. My wife and I will be hosting you for the few months you are to be staying.” There was a glint of light that flashed as he moved his hand—which was seen with a golden band around his ring finger.
“Thank you very much for generously allowing me to stay in your home,” we began to walk to his car. “Oh I forgot, the email asked the interns to check the id of the person who is picking us up.” I paused before placing my hand on the sleek metal of the door handle.
“Yes, thank you for reminding me,” he slipped his black leather wallet out of his pocket and fished for his id. Once he retrieved the card, he placed his driver’s license into my hand.
I pulled out my phone, to look at the email telling us about our host. After comparing the information, I handed Kin’emon his drivers license back. “Okay, let’s go.” I said as I slid onto the creme colored leather of the backseat.
My fist supported my head as I watched the scenery meld together through the window. The sky quickly turned darker. My breath formed a little patch of condensation— due to the late hour and dropping temperatures.
The car ride was quiet, with the exception of some traditional Japanese instrumentals. But before either of us would try and fill the silence with awkward questioning, we arrived at his house.
I stepped out of the car, and heard the sound of the trunk opening as well as plastic wheels hitting the ground. While handing me my suitcase handle, his calloused hands brushed against mine. I whispered a quiet, thank you, before following him up to his home.
He opened the frosted glass door, which revealed a quaint home who’s floor was covered in what I perceived as bamboo mats. We both entered the house, and the scent of fried bread crumbs as well as curry swirled around us. I caught myself nearly drooling down my chin.
The sound of pots, pans, and utensils cluttering stopped as a woman in an apron stepped out of the kitchen. “Welcome home dear,” she said before turning to me. “You must be the intern. My name is O-tsuru, it is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance.” She dusted her flour covered hands on her jeans before offering me a handshake.
I gave a soft smile as I shook her hand, “I’m Y/N, it’s lovely to meet you as well.” O-tsuru gently grabbed Kin’emon’s hand and led him to the kitchen.
“Food is almost finished, we would be delighted if you decided to eat with us,” her voice echoed from the kitchen.
I looked down at my half eaten sandwich from the airport Subway. The bread was chewy like a warm kneaded eraser, and the vegetables had an almost plastic sheen to them. “I would love to eat whatever smells that delicious,” I peeled off my shoes and set them near the door.
O-tsuru’s head popped out from the kitchen, “Just sit for a bit, and we’ll be out with food in a second.” Following her instructions, I pushed the floor sitting chair out so I could sit on my knees.
There were no legs to the chair, but seeing as the table was so close to the ground it did not present a problem. My eyes scanned the area of the house that was visible. There were sliding doors and paintings with Japanese characters drawn in sumi ink. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see something reflect the light of the overhead fan.
I turned to my side and saw two katana’s on display, both identical in looks. Black lacquered wood, with the image of fire painted down the middle. It looked too gaudy for it to be used as a weapon. As I glanced over the other decorations in the house, I decided to place the swords in the same category.
“Today we are going to be eating Tonkatsu Curry,” O-tusru said, as she clattered plates about to organize the table. I reached out to help her, but she swatted my hands away playfully. “You’re our guest, I can’t put you to work so soon,” she chuckled. I placed my hands back onto my lap, and waited.
Soon enough Kin’emon brought out the food, and the scent of curry wafted over  from the pot. There was a plate set down that was full of pork chops covered in fried bread crumbs. O-tsuru set down a glass bowl full of lettuce— you could see droplets of water on the leaves.
“So we have some Tonkatsu here, but if you can’t eat that we also have nato,” O-tsuru sat across from me.
“What’s nato?” I looked at my bowl of rice, and sniffed it.
“It’s fermented beans,” Kin’emon took his seat next to his wife. “And if you’re allergic to anything here just let us know, I’m sure we can find something in the kitchen that suits your needs.”
As we dug in, the flavors exploded in my mouth creating a lovely blend. The dinner was mostly quiet, with the exception of some basic questions to fill up the time.
“I’ll let Kin’emon show you to your room. I have to wash some dishes,” O-tsuru grabbed a few plates as she stood up.
While the sound of water and the clanging of dishes ensued, Kin’emon stood up, and walked over to my luggage. The slight crispy nosies of the mats under my feet amused me.
“So...are the floor mats made out of bamboo?” I said.
“They are made out of rice straw, they’re called Tatami mats,” he walked down the hallway, and placed his hand on the door, and cracked it open slightly. “This is where your room is, you can call either of us if you need anything.”
I watched his silhouette as he turned around to meet back with his wife. Although he dressed like a patchwork dad and samurai, it looked as if he could still be a model for Calvin Klein. As he walked away, his muscles rippled under his skin. His arms were also well defined, but as my eye caught his ring I stopped

Bragger - Dean x fem!reader part 2
Suggested by @rileynicole1967 based on the song Bragger by Kelsea Ballerini.
(Y/N) stared the vampires down, wishing that she had at least some sort of weapon on her.
“Stay behind me.” She told her parents, trying to keep an eye on all three of them.
“Listen here, you buncha hooligans” Her dad, pulled her behind him as she protested, “I don’t know who you vampire wannabes think you are but you need to get out of my house.” Dad’s big head was going to get them all killed.
“Don’t be the hero, old man.” The one in the middle looked around him to (Y/N).
“So, where is Dean Winchester?” He asked, “We got a couple questions for him.” Dad looked back at her, hands on his hips.
“They’re here because of him? He just keeps getting better and better.” He complained.
“(Y/D/N)!” Her mother glared.
“What? Are you trying to defend him?” He asked. The lead Vampire and (Y/N) made eye contact. He raised his eyebrows are her as if he were asking if they were really like this. She nodded, shrugging her shoulder. The vampire let out a deep breath. He reached forward, grabbing her father by the neck and lifting him in the air. (Y/N) and her mother reached out but were stopped by the henchmen.
“Old man, I think it’s about time you stopped talking. Man alive, if my daddy was anything like you I woulda killed him faster.” Her father’s eyes widened, swinging his feet back and forth.
“Put him down, it’s me you want, I can get Dean here.” She pleaded.
“Oh I know you can, sweet thing. I’m just wanting a quick bite.” His sharp teeth came down from his gums. Dad’s eyes widened even more.
“Then wait until you get Dean.” (Y/N) reasoned, “You capture Dean and eat them as a reward.” The vampire thought a moment then nodded, setting Dad back down on his feet.
“You make a good point. Why don’t you give him a call?” He tossed me my parents landline.
-
Dean his just been mindlessly driving around the small town, watching the locals go in and out of shops and restaurants. This didn’t seem like a bad place to grow up. Didn’t seem like a bad place to live. He wondered if (Y/N) ever wanted to come back here.
His thoughts were broken from his phone ringing, from a number he didn’t recognize. But this was the phone designated for hunters so it was someone he knew.
He hit answer, pressing the phone to his ear, “You got Dean Winchester.”
“Dean, it’s me.” (Y/N)’s voice crackled over the phone.
“Hey, look, I’m sorry-”
“Oh it’s fine. Don’t worry about the vase. Accidents happen.” He quickly glanced at the phone.
“What?”
“I know that you accidently knocked over my grandparents urn, but all has been forgiven.” Grandparents urn had been their code for vampires.
“Is everything okay?” He asked, starting to turn his car around.
“Oh and before I forget mom and I are gonna start making your favorite - red velvet cake.” She said gleefully. That was bad. Red velvet cake was code for hostage situation, need back up now.
“I’m on my way.” He gripped onto the steering wheel, hanging up the phone.
-
(Y/N) set the phone down and sighed, “He’s on his way.”
“Excellent.” The vampire reached out, holding onto her chin. His hands were ice cold, cold as death.
“I may just turn you. You seem to understand when you’ve been beat.”
“You get your dirty hands offa her!” Her mother shouted, struggling against the restraints they had been put in. While on the phone, her parents had been strapped to chairs from the dining room table.
“Lady,” The vampire pulled his hands away, “I really don’t like hearing lip from a lush.” Her mother gasped.
“You can’t talk to her like that-” Before her dad could continue, they were both gagged by the henchmen.
“Now...” The leader turned back to (Y/N), “Why don’t you let us have a taste, huh?” The vampire grinned, stalking forward. (Y/N) stepped back. He laughed.
“Aww sweetheart, don’t play coy.” He nodded for his other henchmen to move forward. The lacky came forward, grinning. As she backed away, her hand brushed the side of her bag. She stopped, subtly grabbing the syringe of dead man’s blood she kept there. When he got close enough, she popped the top and slammed the needle into his neck. He cried out and back away, stumbling back into the wall, holding his neck. He slide down the wall. The other lacky came around.
“Hey!” The henchman kneeled down and looked over his partner, “Deadman’s blood.” He stood up, stomping towards (Y/N), “YOU BITCH!” He stopped mid step, eyes wide. In front of the eyes of her parents and the lead vampire, the henchman’s head slid off and landed on the floor with a sickening thud. His body followed. In his place stood Dean with a machete.
“I told you those syringes work.” He grinned.
“Is now the right time for you to tell me ‘I told you so’?” She said in an exasperated voice.
Dean looked from her to the two vampires still alive, and the lead vampire looked pissed, “Right.”
The lead vampire growled, rushing Dean. Dean swung.
Dad and Dean drove the pickup truck to the dump with a trap covering the back end. Mom and (Y/N) followed in the Impala. Mom was fiddling with her fingers, very clearly having things on her mind.
“He’s not a fireman, is he?” She asked.
“(Y/N) shook her head, “Nope.”
“And he isn’t volunteering at a youth shelter?”
“Nope.”
“And you’re not a lawyer are you? You do what he does, kill monsters.”
I chewed on the inside of my cheek, “Yeah.”
“Sweetheart, why didn’t you tell us-”
“Would you have approved?” She cut off her mom, “What was I supposed to tell you? That I dropped out of school and started hunting monsters? You would have had me committed.” When they made it to the dump, Dean and Dad had parked and opened the back of the truck. They were grapping the garbage bags of bodies and started a pile. Mom went to open the door of the impala.
“I wouldn’t, the smell is the worst.” At her words, mom took her hand off the handle.
“What do you think they’re talking about?” Mom asked.
Dean and (Y/N) father loaded the last of the vampires bodies off the truck and into the pile. Out from his jacket pocket, Dean brought out a flask of lighter fluid and a book of matches.
“So, what if the cops find this?” (Y/F/N) asked.
Dean shook his head, “These bastards burn to dust. All they’re gonna find is burnt plastic.” He dumped the lighter fluid on the pile, then lit the matches, tossing the book on the pile that went up in flames. They both stared in the flames in silence.
“You married my daughter?” Her father asked. She must have told him when he left.
“I did.”
“Where’s her ring?”
Dean ran his thumb over his ring ring finger where his mother’s ring had been, “I proposed to her my mother’s. She wore it around her neck today so you didn’t see it and get upset that you weren’t invited.”
“Well, I am upset.”
“Sir, with all due respect and believe me I’m trying to even give you the respect that (Y/N) would want me to, I wanted to invite you, my brother did as well. But she didn’t. She didn’t want to continue to bring you into this lie, bring you closer to her so that you would be in danger.”
“She’s in danger being around you.” He sneered.
Dean glared, “Don’t you think I told her that?” That seemed to surprise him, “I told her that I wasn’t safe, that what I do wasn’t safe for her. I love your daughter, it killed me to push her away.” Dean looked back at the flames, “But she’s  stubborn. Must get that from you.”
(Y/F/N) smiled a little, “Yeah, she’s a rock, ain’t she?” He shoved his hands in his pockets, “Alright, I’ll allow this... But, you guys gotta visit once a year. At least.”
“You gonna keep giving me crap?” Dean asked, looking at her father’s out of the corner of his eye. Her father thought a moment, sticking out his bottom lip.
“I’ll keep it to myself.”
Dean hummed, “Deal.” They shook hands.
-
“Bye, sweetie.” Mom grinned, hugging her. She was dressed head to toe in cleaning gear to start cleaning up the blood.
“Mom, I said I would help.” (Y/N) started.
“No, no, you need to get on the road. That’s a long drive back to Kansas.” (Y/N) hugged her dad. He pulled away, holding her cheeks in his hands.
“Now there’s my happy little girl.” He smiled. (Y/N) tightened her lips, tears in her eyes.
“Dad, come on.”
“Hey, hey, no tears, Mrs. Winchester.” Dean, who managed to get out of her mother’s arms and came over, shaking her father’s hand.
“I’ll call when we get home.” (Y/N) said as Dean walked her to the car.
After a few hours on the road, (Y/N) started feeding Dean cookies to help him stay awake on the road.
“These are so good.” He hummed around a bite. She giggled and fed him another cookie, he nipped at her fingers. She laughed, taking the cookie and biting it. With one hand on the wheel, the other hand taking hers, looking over her her left hand where her wedding ring was.
“I hated that you didn’t have this on all day.” He said softly.
“I know, Dean-Bean, but I was just afraid of what they would say.”
Dean chuckled, “I understand why. Your dad is so intense.”
“I know I’m sorry. But at least we don’t have to lie anymore.” She sighed, resting her head on the window.
Dean looked over, then back at the road, “Well, we die lie about one thing.” He poked her stomach.
