what a lot of bsd fans, especially the younger ones, don’t understand is why or under what circumstances characters are described as “childish.”

it’s always a slap in the face when i see someone say, “oh, Oda called Dazai a ‘crying child,’ and people still ship them? obviously he’s his father figure!”

i’m not gonna argue against the fact Oda could have been some sort of authoritative, caring, older, responsible guy to Dazai, but under no circumstances do i think Oda saw Dazai as a kid.

as far as BSD goes, Oda is one of the most respectful characters to other people’s perceptions of themselves. hell, he didn’t even see his orphans as children. he had a convo with one of the em in dark era that went something like this:

“It’s always so upsetting when Pops treats us like children. We’re not kids, y’know? We’re adults. Is the fact that we grew up so fast an issue for the grown-ups?”

“Mhm, it probably is.”

so, if Oda doesn’t see a literal eight-year-old as a child simply because he knows how mature he is, what makes people think he’d see Dazai of all people as one…?

the reason Oda described Dazai as wearing the expression of “a child about to cry” has nothing to do with his age or his maturity- it’s because there’s a distinct difference in the way adults and children cry.

when adults cry, it’s with the knowledge that they’re not the only one suffering. that the world isn’t against them, but instead, they probably got themselves into a bad situation. when children cry, it’s free from rationalization and logic, just pure unadulterated agony at something that may not even matter in the grand scheme of things.

it’s not that Dazai is dumb, can’t understand that the world doesn’t revolve around him, or seems like a kid to Oda, it’s that the chasm in his heart transcends the normal despair of what you’d expect to see in a grown-up. it’s the same flavor of raw pain that you can see a child display when something doesn’t go their way, the same blindness to anything outside of their own point of view.

Dazai looked like “a child on the brink of tears” because while walking into the outstretched gun of a sniper, he could only see his own abysmal emptiness.

Oda also described Mori as having a child-like grin or something of the sort, so if he sees Dazai as a kid because of that, i’m going to claim he saw the boss of the mafia who happens to be double his age as a kid, too.

this is just something that has been on my mind, especially since i’ve been seeing an influx of Oda dad content. everyone’s entitled to their own opinions and headcanons, of course, but it admittedly grates on me when people get attacked for something stupid like this, and since the tumblr bsd community seems to be forgiving, i’m talking about it here.

Baki Characters x Hanma Yuujirou’s Daughter Headcanons

Featuring Baki, Jack and Yuujirou Hanma, Katsumi Orochi, Kaoru Hanayama. And a reader that’s nothing like her father! I picked the characters closest in age, though I’m sure reader is pleasant to everyone else as well.

Hanma Family

Let’s just say Yuujirou won’t be bragging about having a daughter like (Y/N). He can’t deny that she takes after her stunning mother, but he dislikes her easygoing nature and worries she might soften Baki up. He’s always been against the two of them hanging out, but it seems that his stubborn ex wife still managed to get her way.

Both Baki and Jack can’t help but wonder if this is how their life could’ve been like. They look at your bright smile as you’re surrounded by all these people that love you, including your supportive mother, and feel the slightest pang of jealousy in their heart. Of course, their misfortunes are not your fault, you just occasionally remind them of the privilege of being vulnerable that’s been robbed from them.

The half brothers are very protective of you, especially knowing how much of a scaredy cat you are. Baki is quick to jump to action if something bothers you, but Jack is a little cheekier and enjoys briefly standing back so he can get a chuckle out of your silly fears. Afterwards he just needs to place himself behind you and whatever was the source of your discomfort scurries away.

You also have a very motherly side when it comes to the young men. You first met Baki just one year before tragedy struck him and sometimes his troubled face takes you back to the little orphaned boy, tormented by guilt and fear. You’re very grateful for Kozue and enjoy hanging out with her and Baki. Even though you’re all about the same age, they often approach you as the holder of wisdom whenever they have relationship problems and you always listen empathetically.

Similarly, you’re the one that reminds Jack to take a break from overworking himself. He’s very stubborn and will bark at you to leave him alone. It’s enough for you to allow a few tears to form in the corner of your eyes for him to drop the weights and walk away, mumbling something about you not understanding his grand plan.

Baki is more familiar with your friends since you often invite him to join you or just simply tell him about the latest gossip. Jack is much more reserved and introverted, so he likes to take you out to a restaurant, for example, and receive briefings and summaries of whatever is going on in your life. While taking mental notes about boy names that seem to appear with suspicious frequency. “Who? Oh, right.” Jack will look him up later and make sure he doesn’t get any ideas with (Y/N).

Katsumi Orochi

Katsumi has a massive crush on you, and who can blame him, really? You’re kind, nice and funny, and always ready to help your friends. He still remembers the day Baki brought you to the Dojo and introduced you as his half sister. He had to do a double check when he heard you’re Yuujirou’s daughter. He still can’t fully believe it and wonders if you were also adopted or something.

He likes to daydream about impressing you with his karate skills. Maybe some classmate getting too touchy with you, or some older man on the train standing too close. Then he remembers you’re under the watchful gaze of Baki and Jack and slumps, defeated. No way he can do anything out of the ordinary with those hawks lurking by.

Katsumi nearly has a heart attack when he receives a text message from you asking if he can maybe teach you some self defense. You proceed to explain that you don’t always want to rely on your brothers, and they refuse to engage in any talk about you fighting. Followed by a lot of emojis. He almost throws the phone against the wall and has to excuse himself (he was training with the guys) as the blush is rapidly spreading across his face. Everyone at the Dojo already knows, but they don’t have the heart to tell him.

Does this count as a date? He’ll be smiling like an idiot for the rest of the week.

Kaoru Hanayama

Hanayama has known you almost as long as Baki. He initially thought you’re Baki’s girlfriend and was, like everyone else, very doubtful upon hearing you’re also a Hanma. Then again, he doesn’t even want to imagine what a woman with Yuujirou’s temper would be like.

You take great pride in knowing you’re one of the VERY few people that can make Hanayama laugh. He will never do it in public, but if it’s just the two of you he’ll be greatly amused by your goofy antics. You love cheering him up, and in return he’s always ready to lend an ear to listen to your problems or a shoulder for you to cry on.

While he finds you incredibly cute and good looking, he would never flirt with you out of respect for Baki. Though Baki likes to say that if he has to give you away to someone, he trusts Hanayama to take proper care of you. Every time he does it Hanayama ends up awkwardly quiet and you chase him around, embarrassed.

For some reason, people often mistake him for your dad whenever you hang out. You laugh it off and explain that there’s barely any difference in your age. “Believe me, my actual father is much scarier. You don’t want to ever meet him.” Hanayama nods in agreement.

Thank you for the ask! Gonna put all these under a cut just in case I need to write long answers to them!

Kurabe- I feel like the thing that Kurabe hates the most is people who harm innocent children, especially orphans. That sort of hits home to her since she was an orphan herself.

Fettuccine- Fetty hates despicable people the most. The type of people who are willing to manipulate everyone to get their way and have no remorse for it.

Katsumi- Anyone who tries to break her contract. Usually by trying to interfere with her work or get out of paying for her services. It's partially why she makes it so she always gets half of the full payment before she starts working.

Kurabe- Hmmm... if there was anything she missed about her childhood, it would probably just be having a lot of time to spend with her father. General Z was a single father and he was mainly the one who raised her after he adopted her.

Fettuccine- Due to how Fetty was raised, the thing she misses the most is having a life mostly protected from some of the dark things she encounters as an interrogator. She's had to carry some heavy stuff with her as the chief interrogation officer.

Katsumi- She misses that she was able to get candy a lot easier when she was a kid.

Kurabe- Rinne. I will not elaborate, go read GranEssex Chronicles.

Fettuccine- We do not have a name for the character she would answer herself yet, but I will also answer Rinne for her since Rinne is connected to said character.

Katsumi- Yona-47 because she keeps triggering the traps she has set up in her house.

Kurabe- Kurabe has a lot of friends and acquaintances, of course. However, her best friend is the vice captain of the GranEssex and the second in command of the Combat Division, Mercury.

Fettuccine- Fettuccine also has a lot of friends. Meta would be the person she considers her best friend.

Katsumi- Katsumi does not have many people she would consider a friend. Closest is Beatrix, but they're more of an annoying supposed lucky cat deity that she's now stuck traveling with.

Kurabe- She doesn't really have any trust issues. Kurabe is confident that if anyone would try to backstab her, she could handle and make them regret it.

Fettuccine- Fetty doesn't. She knows she can get information out of anyone she wants.

Katsumi- Considering she deals with some pretty questionable clients, yes, she does.

Kurabe- Kurabe wouldn't know what exactly to answer, but she would have a few. It would be losing her family, causing them direct harm, and darkness.

Fettuccine- She's most afraid of losing the people she cares about. (Her family and her friends. And yes, this includes Meta.)

Katsumi- A potential day where there will no longer be a need for a mercenary like her and she won't have a job anymore.

Kurabe- She wants a pet when she retires, mostly because she's worried that she'll be too busy to care for it right now.

Fettuccine- Technically not, but she will count Risotto's animal summons as being her pets.

Katsumi- Does a possibly lucky cat deity count? If not, no.

Kurabe- She likes that she can be cute, threatening, and elegant at the same time. She takes a lot of pride in her appearance actually.

Fettuccine- She likes the variety of clothes she can wear. She's especially proud of how her hair looks. It took her a bit to get it right, but it's like second nature now.

Katsumi- She thinks her outfit is really cool. She got the idea from an old TV series she watched a while ago.

Welcome to my character blog !

keep in mind I won't be able to follow people back on here. That is what my main blog is for.

Where I attempt to introduce yall to my ocs and their universe. The story is called Resetting and it's about a group of outcasts who befriend each other, and have to face some of the past problems that led to their current situations or try to move forward and create new problems for themselves.

RESETTING tells the story of an aspiring "host" making her way to the shiny civilization of Evelow, where she can get answers about how the world works. They are the center of advancements, right ? After all, this is the city that introduced genetic engineering and has a religion based around the founders of the city for they were the pioneers of protection against the toxic planet.

However, she learns that this city has little tolerance towards accepting the outside world, and would rather destroy it than embrace it. Will this newcomer be able to change their minds ? Or will she be their biggest enemy ?

RESETTING follows this journey, along with her new friends who have their own demons with Evelow for their own various reasons.

Audrey is the "new girl in town" who is partially to blame for the downfall of her old village of Dile. She hopes she can better herself by starting new, but it turns out "bettering" herself could possibly lead to actually making herself worse.

Advik is a clone of one of Evelow's most renowned scientists and councilmen, and now that that person's gone, Advik has had a lot on their plate ! They might have fucked up their prestigious position, because now Advik is stuck in the east village away from all their old problems. They have no intention in going back.

katsumi, kat for short, is a former socialite that had made too many promises to the wrong people and has found herself shunned from her old society. Kat is ready to accept her past mistakes and make new friends, because just because the last relationships couldn't have been trusted doesn't mean new ones can't !

Zack is another former child of the council, who's "downfall" has been due to a tragedy and some family tension. He finds the situation fitting for him, as it's the most interesting thing that's happened to him yet.

Avery is one of Evelow's orphans who always felt she was dealt a bad hand and resented the world for it. That didn't stop her from overachieving, and if her mistakes cause harm to other people, she promises to make up for it, but never apologize.

Morgan is another newcomer, or perhaps a revisitor. After getting a trial run as a wasteland pirate, Morgan returns to her hometown with some brand new baggage, both figuratively and literally (don't look into her mystery cooler, there's nothing in there.)

Sean is the biggest example of Evelow's advancements, as he is a genetically engineered human being with all the qualities of a natural human and more ! However, while he's all organic, what does this mean for Sean ? Will being put on this high pedestal affect his ego or placement in the world. We'll see !

Aurora is the darling of Evelow, representing a new generation of councilmen and being a promising leader for the citizens of the city. However, her strive for power has led her to sacrifice a lot, and maybe it'll lead her to lose the charm that once made her so adored.

Glossary

Defund - the name given to former "Evelonian Elite" who have had found themselves at the bottom of the class system due to varying reasons.

The Ellocast Project - a secret project kept hidden from Evelow, the goal was to be able to create humans purely organically but with the genes to be immune to the dangers of the outside world. The answer to "how will the members of Evelow be able to live beyond their lands ?"

While the first trial was only created to see if it could be done, future trials were done to give humans advancements, including greater strength and agility. There are a total of three trials with two subjects each.

Hosting - the act of manipulating an element or some form of natural substance to your will. It's very rare and is even forbidden in Evelow, but to do it requires a lot of exposure to said substance and some sacrifice, as many who attempt it lose their lives or their humanity.

Last Christmas [Sakunosuke Oda]

Tears falling on your cheeks.

So sour, so salty and also… so painful.

You stood in front of the door, this moment took you so long. You still didn’t want to open the door. It was just like there was something you didn’t want to face with things behind it. You took a deep breath, your hand placed on the door knob and opened the door. Behind the door was a man who was lying on the bed, he seemed to be sleeping soundly on his bed.

You felt relieved, you used your hand to wipe your tears away and stepped in. This man was your only lover - Sakunosuke Oda. Now he was in the hospital and these days were the last days of his life. You saw Oda’s eyelids twitch so you lightly stepped in the room, you placed your bag on the table and sat down on the chair next to his bed.

You gently held his hand and rubbed it. This hand was your favorite hand, you loved him because of his hand. Oda always used his hand to work and gave money to the orphans; those children also loved him too. Oda opened his eyes, when you saw him slowly open his eyes, you said.

“Odasaku, you awake?”

“Hmm, [Name]?”

“Yes, it’s me. I’m here.”

You held his hand tightly but not to hurt him at all. Oda titled his head to see your face clearly, you saw he smiled and he said.

“How about the children?”

“I let them sleep then come here with you.”

You and Oda had raised the orphans for a long time. You two decided not to have any children just to take better care of them. You held his hand against your cheeks and said.

“Please, don’t leave me and our kids alone.”

“Don’t worry, I will be there.” Oda said then he stopped for a while and continued. “This last weekend is Christmas right?”

“Yes, you will be able to go home with the children.” You gently said.

“Odasaku!!!”

The children ran out from the small house when they heard the door opening sound, they tried to reach the door as soon as possible. You supported Oda to go inside the house and let him sit on the doorstep. The children surrounded him, they kissed and asked him a lot of questions.

“Odasaku, how are you?”

“Odasaku, will you live until we graduate?”

“Odasaku, is the hospital scared you?”

Oda smiled when he was surrounded with lots of questions, you sighed and told the children.

“Odasaku had just returned from the hospital, he is still tired. Can you guys set up the table for me while I helped him to get into the kitchen?”

“Okay, [Name].”

All of the children nodded their head and said. Then you two saw them run back to the kitchen, you sighed while Oda smiled and asked.

“They are so energetic, aren’t they?”

“Yes,” You smiled and sat down next to him. You took off your shoes while Oda had done it already, you picked up two pairs of shoes and placed them neatly next to the children’s shoes. Then you helped Oda to get into the kitchen, the scent of the food filled up both of you two nose. The children had their own mission now, Sakura took the soup out of the pot while Katsumi placed chopsticks and spoons on the table.

You helped Oda to sit down on the chair. That night was your most memorable day.

Not until a few weeks later, you guys joined in his funeral.

author’s note: guys... i miss them.

“Breakfast on the table, everyone! Come on, come on!” Your loud and at the same time very cheerful voice spread throughout the apartment, and a short while later you heard a few pairs of feet knocking on wooden panels and bright tiles.

Next to your person standing at the burner, Kousuke, Shinji, Yuu, Sakura and Katsumi appeared in turn. The latter still seemed so sleepy and tired. Anyway, you laughed softly at the sight of five children in their colorful pajamas, then stroked each one on the head saying that for breakfast you had prepared their favorite fluffy pancakes with fruit and chocolate. The kids seemed even happier than a moment ago at the sound of this sentence, and Katsumi felt a surge of energy as he ran to the table first; the rest of the boys obviously followed him, fighting for a place that was as close to yours as possible.

You wanted to finish cooking sausages for your fiancé, but suddenly you felt something touching your left, naked leg (naked because of the sleeping shorts, naturally). So you looked down quickly and smiled gently at the five-year-old girl one more time.

“Something wrong, Sakura-chan?” You picked up the black-haired girl, went back to watching the meat and the baby cuddled up against your warm neck, inhaling your characteristic, slightly sweet smell.

“... Well, I-I... I’d like to have chicken onigiri for dinner today.” She admitted shyly, and you chuckled under your breath as you kiss her on the right temple.

“Of course. We can eat whatever you want for dinner today. Ask the boys later if they want anything else besides onigiri. Now, go and take your seat at the table. I’ll be there in a little while, okay?” You put the little girl down on the grey floor, looking at the black frying pan that sizzled nicely.

“Yaaay! Thanks, mommy~!” The five-year-old ran away from you, and you turned off the burner by throwing all six sausages on Sakunosuke’s white plate. You also added a few fresh vegetables, then took both your beloved man’s plate and your own plate filled with sliced omelets to place the last dishes on a table full of food, hot tea and strong coffee.

The children were already politely waiting for you, so when you appeared next to them, blissful smiles appeared on their tiny faces. You put the dishes on the tablecloth-covered wood and at the same second felt a hot kiss on your cheek. Of course you guessed to whom the rough stubble belonged, so you just turned your head to look at the reddish-brown-haired, tall man.

“Why didn’t you wake me up sooner, love? I would help you with breakfast.” He muttered, then sat down in his usual place on one side of the table. You shrugged in response, stroking his unruly, very fluffy hair.

“You worked hard yesterday and you came back late, so I wanted you to rest, darling... And now let’s eat, because everything will turn cold!” You clapped your hands merrily, sitting next to the man on his right.

“Enjoy your meal, kids.” The blue-eyed smiled slightly, and you and your five children repeated his words, finally reaching for chopsticks (or forks) to eat the still steaming meals.

All seven of you started talking about plans for the current weekend, and Sakunosuke, somewhere between nodds and answers to curious questions, wondered what he had to do in a previous life that someone sent him you and five of these amazing little ones in this, current life.

After all, it wasn’t too long ago that he barely met you at a curry bar when you stopped for lunch between work and the desire to go to the library, and then the two of you ended up as a couple, as a future spouses, and as parents due to the fact that you fell in love with not only a twenty-seven-year-old, but also with his lovely pupils who saw a real, perfect mom in you.

Bittersweet

genre : a mix of fluff and angst (only a little bit of angst i guess ^^;)

summary : a bittersweet memory always find its way to you whenever winter come

word count : 2.4K

a/n : another story from a different prompt for the 12 days of cheer collab. the general idea was to have Makoto as the main character and fluff as the genre but I recently have Oda brainrot thanks to my dear friend, Clio :') so here we go.

The sound of your kitchen timer ringed loudly, making you swiftly walk to the kitchen and stop where the oven is and turn it off before you put on your kitchen gloves and open the oven's lid. The smell of roasted sweet potato filled your nostrils, a satisfactory smile appeared on your face as you're checking if it's properly roasted and it did. You look at the clock, it's now 9am and you just need to change your clothes before you're finally ready to go. 15 minutes later, you're already in your bestest outfit, a necklace with a home-shaped pendant decorating your outfit nicely, you're wearing a bit of makeup and let your hair loose. You look at your reflection, smiling as you think that you look the way someone you'll meet like.

After you put on your shoes, you're ready to go with a box of roasted potato in one hand and a bouquet of flowers that you've already arranged yourself in another. A mix of Pink Camelia, Pink Carnation, Red Chrysanthemum and Forget-Me-Not. You look at the bouquet in your hand before your eyes drift to the frames that's standing on the table not too far from the entrance of your apartment.

One of the frames contained a photo of a young man with reddish-brown hair, his azure eyes seemed so gentle as he was smiling happily. Another frame contained a photo of you and that young man, there's a little scribble on that photo saying "first date with Oda ♡". You smile upon seeing those photos, a warm feeling crept inside your heart as you see the smiles both of you wore in that sacred moment.

With a heavy sigh you finally get out from your apartment. The weather is not that nice but you can say that it's not bad either, especially since it's December now. As you're walking, you see a lot of people around, some busying themselves buying gifts for Christmas and you're giving note to yourself to not forget searching for one.

It doesn't take long until you finally arrive at your destination. You're walking toward a big tree and lay a small blanket before you sit on it. You're smiling as you see the one who you want to see resting there.

"I'm here, Oda." You whispered as a gentle smile appeared on your beautiful face. "And I bring roasted potatoes too!"

Suddenly, your mind traced on the first day he finally has courage to talk to you.

You were eating your favorite curry at your favorite small shop like you usually do when suddenly a tall man with stubble came and asking for 'usual'. You look at his figure before you try to continue eating your food. Yes, try. Because the man who just came was also the reason why you keep coming back to the shop. He gave you this mysterious aura which told you to not get too close to him but also at the same time you drew to him and your eyes landed on nothing but him.

Silent filled the room, only the sound of the chef (also the owner) cooking could be heard when suddenly the man beside you asked, "How's the kids?" which was answered with, "Like usual." By the chef.

Again, silence filled the room. You try to continue to eat when suddenly the man beside you said, "Do you like sweet potatoes?" You paid him no mind since you thought that he was probably talking to the chef again but then you felt a pair of eyes looking at you, so you were looking at your right only to be watched by a pair of beautiful azure eyes. You tried your best to not spit on your food because you swear that the curry seems like entering the wrong hole.You tried to gulp down that damn curry before you sipped the cold water beside your plates.

"You're asking me?" You asked, looking at him with your doe eyes, you saw a tint of pink appear on his cheeks.

"Ah, sorry if I'm being rude and yes I was asking you." He said as he rubbed his hair.

"I.. I like sweet potatoes." You said again, you weren't lying, it's not like you love them by lots but you enjoy eating them.

"Good. So you wouldn't mind to join us later? If you have time of course." A sheepishly smile appeared on his face.

Your face brightened at the invitation, not gonna lie, you were so interested at this man so having him inviting you was something that you'd like to have.

"Well, what time is later?" You asked, no matter how happy you feel you need to play it cool.

"Uhm.. later as in after we finished our meal." He answered. "I heard a saying that said, 'women have another stomach for dessert'."

"Well it's very much true and I feel like I need to accept your invitation, especially if it's coming from a gentleman like you." You said and the moment you said it, that man knew that you were a very special person and he knew that you would change him in any way possible.

"My name is Oda Sakunosuke." That man said while stretching out his hand.

"My name is Y/N." You said, while gripping that man's hand. The moment his large hand wrapping yours, you knew that you couldn't escape to fall for him more deeply.

"Y/N-san! Odasaku! come here, come here. Sakura has practiced her singing skill and she will sing for us!" Kousuke, the oldest kid of orphaned children who Oda adopted said as he was welcoming you and Oda. It has been a year since you were dating Oda and you've met the kids countless times so they already welcomed you like you're always belonged there. Oda never knew why he introduced the kids to you and told you that he adopted them all. Well, he knew why. He wanted to know how your reaction would be. He was glad when he saw that you were very much okay with him having kids despite he was only 21 years old at that time.

"Oh, Y/N-san! You brought a lot of sweet potatoes!" Another child named Katsumi said after he appeared from nowhere.

"Yes, I'm gonna make roasted sweet potatoes because Odasaku said that you guys like them and we couldn't enjoy them that much last year."

"Your roasted potatoes taste so delicious." The youngest kid, Sakura, said as she approached you. The rest of two kids also joined you and Oda while they were agreeing to what Sakura said.

"Okay, okay. Odasaku and I will clean the sweet potatoes before we roast them so you all can prepare things in the living room and clean it up a bit. You say you will help uncle right?" You said and all the kids accepting your guidance before they stormed into the living room.

"How can they listen to you so well?" Oda said once the kids left the kitchen as he approached you. He wrapped his hands around your waist before he inhaled your scent and put his lip close to your jawline before he kissed it, that gesture made you turn around so you were facing him and process to kiss his lips before saying, "It's a secret."

A laugh erupted from both of you. Oda then pulled you closer to him before he planted a kiss on your lips, a passionate one if you could tell. The kiss made your feet feel like jelly and your lips burned in sensation of his sweet, honey taste lips. His stubble roughly rubbed the skin around your mouth but it didn't give you any effect to pull away.

"Uhm!!" You heard someone try to disturb the moment you have with Oda so you broke the kiss only to find the oldest kid, Kousuke gave you a 'what-the-hell-are-you-doing' look. "Sorry to interrupt but the potatoes won't roast themselves aren't they?" He snickered.

You and Oda were stuttering as you both tried to reasoning your action. Fast forward, all the seven of you were already in the living room with a warm roasted potato on the table and warm green tea accompanied it.

You were listening to Sakura singing a Christmas song then after that you were just listening to the kids rumbling about their days before finally the show that the kid wanted to watch has started. It was suddenly quiet, you were sitting in the back with Oda sitting beside you and his hand was around your waist. You put your head on his shoulder as you also lingered your hands around his torso. Both of you sit there in silence, watching the kids immersed in the movie that they watched.

After the movie finished, you saw the kids were all sleeping. Oda then moved them one by one to their bedroom with you helping him by preparing their bed and tucked them once Oda put them on their bed. After you tucked the last kid, both of you look at the sight of five angelic kids sleeping figures and you couldn't help but feel the warmness inside your heart and you knew Oda felt the same because you felt a pair of strong arms lingering around your waist as he hugged you from behind.

"One day… One day we will move from this town, we'll move to another place near the beach, where the kids can run as far as possible, where the kids can enjoy much sunshine while they're playing outside, where they will have baby siblings and play with them and teach them one thing or two. I, I'm sorry for being so selfish but please bear with me a little more. I promise you everything will be better." You heard Oda say those words before he kissed your crown. You, on the other side felt your tears run down to your cheeks.You knew about his occupation yet you still accept him and love him with all your might. Mafia who doesn't kill. That was what his colleagues called him. And you knew the reason why, he told you about it, about his dream, about how he wanted to be a writer, how he wanted to have a house with a window facing the ocean as he wrote the continuation of his favorite book. He shared his dream with you, shared his obsession and you were very much so supporting to his idea.

"I will wait as much as possible if it's come to you. To the kids that I thought of my own. That's how much I love you, Oda." You whispered but it was loud enough for Oda to hear.

You felt Oda broke the hug before he asked you to close your eyes and you did. Suddenly you felt a cold metal at the crook of your neck, then he told you to open your eyes. The first thing you did was to look down and there you saw a necklace with a house-shaped pendant. You ask him what it was about and he told you that it was a token, a token to what he promised to you; the next stage of relationship.

You couldn't help but crying at his explanation, he was so shocked because that wasn't the reaction that he expected.

It was less than a year when you heard news from Oda's friend, Dazai, that Oda was seriously injured. Your head was spinning like crazy and your heart was beating so fast it felt like it'd burst out from your body anytime. The time when you come to where Dazai told you, Oda was long gone, his body already cold and lifeless. That was when your world sinked into hell, when your heart broke into pieces it couldn't be repaired, when you couldn't even scream in pain as you saw a lifeless body that belonged to a man who you loved dearly.

A single tear escapes from your eyes as you reminisce the memory of your now deceased fiance. You saw his name engraved on the tombstone in front of you before you put the bouquet that you bring on top of his grave. It has been 4 years since Oda left you, and you also learnt about the kids he adopted, that they were also already dead because they caught up in Oda's last mission. Another tears escapes and run down to your cheeks, you try to hold it because you already swore to only show Oda your happy side, to not make him worry when he's watching you from heaven above.

"It's okay to cry." You hear a familiar voice of Oda's friend, Dazai. "I bet that's what Oda would say to you." He says again as he's walking towards your direction.

You saw him holding a small bouquet of flowers.

"Zinnia. Thoughts of absent friends." You say as you look at the flower.

"Longing for you, I'll never forget you, I love you and True love memories." Dazai says after he placed his bouquet next to yours. "Odasaku was so lucky to meet you." He says again.

"Both of us are lucky to meet each other, but not lucky enough to be together in this life." You smile bitterly as you spit on your last words. The words are surely hurt and the reality you're facing now is surely cruel and Dazai knew what kind of hell you've been through after you learnt a sadistic truth 4 years ago, after you learnt the fact that you lost the most important person in your life.

"I still feel thankful that you live your life to your best, that you carry out Oda's dream and even you're doing more than he can do. You build an orphanage, you're taking care of unfortunate children and I'm sure Oda is gonna be proud of you." Dazai says as he pat your head, like a big bro he is.

"That's the only thing I can do." You say.

"It's getting cold now, let me take you home." Dazai offers and you decide that it's the time you need to go.

"Till then, Oda." You says before you rub his tombstone and accepting Dazai's offer to take your hand and walk with him, leaving a bittersweet memory behind you as you leave the cemeteries.

Finally got this inked! Here are the Seven Soldiers of Shun, AKA the seven whose minds They corrupted in order to stand up to Chiyo and the Four. Since They can only destroy, They destroyed whatever goodwill they had towards humanity and left them as merciless fighters hellbent on taking down Hibiki for good. I’m fairly certain the color-coded ‘seven people’ theme is easy enough to decipher.

Katsumi was born into a turbulent household with an abusive mother and a meek father. When she was 16, her mother beat her father to death and she narrowly escaped. She lived as an orphan, picking fights with unlucky passerby and beating up common thugs for their possessions until she came across one of Shun’s followers when she was 18, who took her in and gave her a permanent residence in the Compound. She was touched by this and has served Them fiercely ever since, claiming They gave her a home when no one else wanted her.

Shigeko and Yutaka are twins, orphaned from a young age due to a virus that spread through their home village. Their parents left to get supplies but never returned (having died on the way, unbeknownst to their children). They grew up starving and pick-pocketing to survive, which made them enemies of many. They found the Compound of Shun’s followers, and touched by the kind treatment they got from them they vowed to serve Shun no matter what as long as they can still reach their goals of becoming rich.

Yasu grew up in the shadow of her younger sister that their overbearing parents nagging her to be more like, and despite her own beauty had the tendency to froth with rage over seeing girls she considered prettier than herself. She dropped out of school and lived on her own for a while before finding Shun (in the form of a handsome young man), who convinced her that she’d feel right at home with Their followers. Touched by Their kindness, she serves Them devotedly, claiming that They’re the only one who makes her feel beautiful.

Yoichi grew up in a normal-enough house, although when his parents found out he was having a relationship with an older woman at age 15 his parents kicked him out. Ever since then, he’s floated around, doing what he could to survive. Since he had such a pretty face, he was often approached by older men and women who wanted a sugar baby. He lived quite well, though the constant sexual attention left him frustrated with his life. When he was attacked and beaten for his valuables by a stranger, he was found by Shun themself, who led him to the Compound to heal him and house him. He developed a crush on Them and decided to follow Them because of Their kindness.

Naoki is a wild card. He grew up in a normal household, but set off when he turned 14 to see the world for himself. He considers himself neutral to the events happening, claiming he doesn’t care whether or not Shun wins or loses against the Main Five. He serves Shun, but in a halfhearted way (where even the god can’t tell if he’s a true believer or not sometimes). In a way, he might be the most dangerous one of the Seven because of this attitude. Nobody really knows what Shun corrupted in Their attempts to get him to become a Soldier... if They succeeded in corrupting him at all.

Aiya grew up in a household with absent parents, leaving her to her own devices a lot of the time. She grew restless and frustrated for interaction, and became a wild child as she became a teenager. Due to the many parties she threw at her home, her parents kicked her out when she turned 16 and left her to fend for herself. She continued to live a lavish life until she was robbed of most of her possessions, where she was found by Naoki who took her in to the Compound and patched her up. Since then, she’s served Shun, claiming They see her for who she truly is. (Though in truth, she mainly serves because she has a crush on Naoki.)
