if I see any of you whitewashing my babies (Theo and Oscar) I am gonna gently remind you that there are better ways to color poc-- aside from color picking that actual sprites/cg.. Or eyeballing it yourselves. I swear it is not that hard to use darker shades for characters! It can be so fun too!! Don't be afraid to even go darker!! Just please do not make them look pale af

And if that doesn't work and you don't listen. I'm blocking your ass. That is all.

It is not your responsibility:

To take on someone elses healing

To process someone's trauma for them

To monitor and manage someone else's emotions

To teach people how to love

To try and get people to appreciate you

To "keep the peace"

To spend all your energy trying to keep someone happy

To try and prevent someone from cheating

To teach people how to apologize & take accountability

To try and get others to change toxic behaviors

To accept responsibility for pain you didn't cause

To try and get them to heal pain they have caused to others

To do all the emotional labor in your relationships and friendships

To accept less than you deserve

To blame yourself when people treat you poorly

To teach them emotional intelligence

To stay quiet when you are hurting

To lie and hide things for them

To protect people who wouldn't do the same for you

To help someone else grow

To teach people how to find healthy coping mechanisms that work for them

To allow yourself to be taken for granted for the sake of "love"

To believe them when they have been caught lying before

To teach people self love

To make excuses, explanations or justifications for someone else

To allow yourself to be manipulated because you want to believe them

To control other people

To awaken them

To change their beliefs about themselves and the world around them

To convince them why they should want to better themselves

To pull them out of the hole they've dug for themselves

To try to repair relationships you didn't break

To stay where you feel you no longer belong

To make yourself small to keep other's comfortable

It IS our responsibility to heal OURSELVES, and in doing so, inspiring other's to do the same.

No matter how many people have told you that you are a "healer," it is NOT your responsibility to heal those who don't want to be healed, aren't ready for it, or arent appreciative of you.

Some may never take this path, and that is their choice to make.

Protect your energy.

Ah someone else who has discovered the joys of Camelot (1967) a movie that I am completely normal about. Have you watched it? Because the delivery of the lines is everything and if you need someone to talk to about it I am, once again, completely normal about it. The scene where Lancelot and Arthur first meet?? A masterpiece in sharing a single braincell. And don't even get me started on the way Guenevere first treats Lancelot "have you jousted with humility lately". It's unapologetically at the top of my Arthuriana movie rank list and has gotten me to reread The Once and Future King

I have not watched the film yet!

I've been listening to the original cast recording on Spotify but, most importantly, I've read the book of the original Broadway production (1960 libretto) and I love it?? It's a delightful little read on its own, even without having watched the musical. (I want other people to read it please it's very funny I promise)

I guess the 1967 film script won't be identical to the libretto but I assume it's fairly similar.

The scene where Lancelot meets Arthur was hilarious it made me laugh out loud. Lancelot utter puzzlement ("Gone a-Maying, Your Majesty??"). Arthur's sudden self-consciousness.

And don't even get me started on the way Guenevere first treats Lancelot "have you jousted with humility lately"

I know!! Lancelot's grating self-righteousness coupled with his complete lack of self-awareness is so funny.

And I loved the gradual tone shift. It starts out so silly and the tragedy sneaks up on you — I thought Guinevere and Lancelot's affair might be played for laughs with an oblivious Arthur but no, it turns out he's fully aware of what's going on and he's forced to watch it unfold because he's powerless to stop it? and he loves them both and doesn't want any harm to come to them even as they betray him??

(He continues talking, looking from one to the other, feverishly — painfully) — Excuse me??

and King Pellinore is hilarious, he enters the scene wearing a monocle followed by a little mongrel named Horrid and talking like a character from a P. G. Wodehouse's novel. Extremely validating because when I read that chapter in Le Morte d'Arthur in which King Pellinore first makes an appearance my first question was "is he meant to be this funny?" and the answer from this script is a resounding YES.

I think I might perhaps watch the 1968 stage production first, merely because it's available for free on Youtube (at least in the UK).

I might try hunting for a free streaming link to the 1967 film, though I don't mind renting it if I can't find it.

#also the hawk motif got me ok #arthur asking merlyn to be turned into a hawk at the beginning #so he could spy on guinevere #telling merlyn he loved it when he turned him into a hawk that one time #arthur telling guinevere later that merlyn used to teach him lessons by turning him into different animals #and that he was meant to learn something from each one #but he didn't know what he was meant to learn from being a hawk #and then going 'oh no I got it!'#'when I was flying I could see there are no visible borders. why are we even making war to each other #over something that doesn't even exist. that's stupid. we are meant to live in peace'#'that was the lesson. I will create an era of peace'#and then his dream starts to crumble right before his eyes as lance and guinevere fall in love #and then him crying out to merlyn when guinevere was tied at the stake #asking merlyn to turn him into a hawk so he could fly away #like a lost child!! merlyn wasn't even there he hadn't been for years!!#I'm feeling so normal about it #sorry I just thought it was a good script!#regarding the songs – they didn't blow me away but I'm enjoying them!#they might grow on me still. probably more enjoyable when watching the film #I think my fave atm is Then You May Take Me to the Fair #“You'll pierce right through him?” “You'll open-wide him?”#GIRL why are you making it sound like that...#she's never been normal about lance not even for a minute not even at the start #asks #camelot (musical)

see i have all these spicy takes in the drafts that i don’t post out of self-restraint but then i see a spicy take that i hate SO MUCH and then i want to post mine out of revenge. it’s a terrible cycle tbh.

#it is actually and fundamentally not good for my weaknesses to be here lol #but I also love it! And love the community and the support and don’t find a ready-made replacement for that in real life #so yeah. I wrestle with it #if I could always use it as an opportunity to practice charity and restraint and shutting up it would be a good thing #but I have to be careful with any known potential irritant because I have such a temper and get so genuinely pissed off so easily #while also having poor impulse control #and like. it isn’t fair of me to be out there baiting people with my opinions and being provoking with takes I know will be upsetting #to the circle in which I move on here #but I also love to say a thing I think is true or feel is true and talking my way into a more nuanced opinion is how I do it!#but also like. the simple truth is that it also isn’t kind or charitable or necessary most of the time #no matter how I try to dress it up with comments on my personality and how I learn/like to analyze things #I really wrestle with it. there was a part of me that so at peace when I was gone from tumblr (essentially) for half a year #but again. I missed it #teaching helps a lot. my personality can take the very age-appropriate obnoxiousness and idiocy that comes with talking about literature #to teenagers #but I’m kind of so over trying to have a nuanced conversation online #it’s just so hard. I need the body language and the one to one you can only have in person for certain conversations #and disagreements. tbh it’s better and kinder and just BETTER if i stay out of it online #but I never do it perfectly #I’m just rambling. the problem with adventure time is that i am so deadly serious about it and how good i think it is so it is difficult to have casual conversations about it without delving into my personal philosophies about the meaning of life and what we owe to each other and ourselves etc etc etc. cannot be normal

#sure its a funny silly show but its about life death the universe and everything in between #and it manages to grapple with extremely complex and emotional topics in ways that leave you feeling both meloncholy but also… ready?#to confront yourself and your place in the universe. u kno #at least. thats how i feel about it LOL #i’m not talking season one or even two but that doesn’t negate the vaue those seasons provide as set dressing and emotional tone. etc #to me adventure time is less about the characters (although it is certainly about them)#and more about painting a vast and nuanced portrain of a fantastical universe that gives life and humor to abstract ideas and feelings #it teaches you how to sit with them. and make peace and grow and change and love etc etc YOU KNOW !!#the love that went into creating it is so palpable with each and every episode #also that post going around about how having to shoehorn in a moral lesson is a major problem woth the artistic integrity of many kids shows #adventure time does not have that problem.#it proposes ideas ? but it takes characters entire seasons #years even #to learn from their mistakes. anyway #adventure time

#its not my fault i literally had to learn a year of trigonometry in 1 night...#going into the IBs my math teacher has been giving us these ''review packets'' to get us ready for our exam #and in theory its a really great idea but in practice a lot of the stuff thats supposed to be ''review'' is stuff we didn't learn #bc we missed formative math lessons bc of covid in like sophomore year #so these packets really just come back to us teaching ourselves the material.#AND THEYRE GRADED. IS THERE NO PEACE.#hence. 3ish hours.#godspeed (said to myself at 11:11 at night in my empty room)#cricket.chatterbox

how deranged you must be to defend hamas terrorists as if they are victims and not perpetrators whose sole purpose in life since infancy is to kill jews and die as martyrs.

#the kids who grow up in hamas's shadow and learn this abhorrent hate are the true victims of HAMAS and their violent mindset no one else's #children practicing in kindergardens and schools how to attack jews and israelis successfuly is not an act of resistance and sure is not #an environment kids should live in so perhaps teach them peace as they should instead of grooming them to be murderers.
