so i haven't even played the fontaine archon quest, but i have witnessed many spoilers! whether this actually applies and relates to the archon quest, i am unsure, but i think it's worth mentioning:

i would like to let you all know that attributing a person's poor behaviors to dispositional factors (their personality, their inherent nature, their disposition, etc) while giving no consideration to their circumstances, completely neglecting to consider that perhaps there is a circumstantial reason that the person in question is behaving a certain way, is a social bias known as the fundamental attribution error.

people are allowed to be and even should be pissed about how furina was treated because the fae is absolutely infuriating when it happens. from what i understand, everyone in fontaine fell victim to this effect. and it is infuriating to see that happen. 👍

Remember to study more than the sections of history in which you're interested. Move on from the parts with which you are comfortable. The beginnings and the ends of a textbook are easy to comprehend. Go back to the middle. The messy, terrifying middle. In American History, go back and look through the mid-1800s section. Read that boring, dreadful chapter about Jacksonian democracy and economic policies. Familiarize yourself with the election of 1808 or whatever-the-christ. Move on from the AmRev and get to the parts of American History that are sloppy and flip-floppy and honestly not our best moments, and you'll feel better. Go back and read the chapter for the test you'd rather forget happened. You'll feel better.

#me personally i only started french because i didnt want to do spanish or german #and we had to take a language #now look at me. ap student gonna take the exam in less than two months #did one course for asl because i needed to fill a credit and it seemed easy enough to do online #and i was so interested by deaf culture and i was having sm fun with learning signs #but i never continued it for?? some reason?? #i didnt take japanese any further than hiragana and some katakana but it was fun learning the writing system #not that i remember more than maybe 30% of it #and now im trying to learn ukrainian on duolingo and other outside sources #partially just bc i was curious #but now im like. very entranced by it #i have a google doc vocab list and everything #its very fun for me :) even if i dont use it in everyday life and if i drop it after a week #its also so fun to speak #I NEED TO. SHUTUP omfg #tldr languages are sk cool.. to Me.. i should take a linguistics class sometime…

Hello I’m Dino! I wanted to make an introduction post for my tumblr since I decided I wanted to start posting to motivate myself and others! I thought it would be nice to list my personal goals, interests, etc. :)

also pls ignore any grammar issues I don’t feel like putting this through Grammarly :,)

Goals

Work towards a 4.5 gpa: I have currently maintained a 4.2 gpa for this school year I wish it was 4.5, but I have 2 b’s :( So I’m going to work towards a 4.5 for this last quarter and senior year!

Become a better speaker: My ultimate career is to be a lawyer! With that comes working to be a better speaker. I get quite nervous when it comes to taking to a large group of people and start to talk fast. On top of this at my mock trial meet I messed up my direct horribly because of how nervous I was to talk in front of the judge and jury :,)

Get best lawyer during Mock Trial Comp: I won best attorney this year, but I don’t think I deserved it…I want to be more confident in my win this time around!

4 or 5 on AP Exams: I want to get a 4 or 5 on both my AP Lang and APUSH Exams in May! I need to study and practice hard though, but I’m willing to put the hard work in ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

Practice flute more often: I play the flute for my schools band and while I have only been playing for 7 months now I have to keep up with people who have been playing for 5+ years :,) With that I want to practice more to keep up and for my personal interest of just becoming more skilled with the flute!

Turing in homework on time: I have made a bad habit of turning my homework in late which is so bad oml I need to get out of it

Exercise: I want to start working out regularly to lose some weight :) While I’m at a healthy weight I just want to lose a few pounds for aesthetic purposes, but in a healthy manner!

Love myself more: I forget to remind myself that I have gotten so far and I have evolved over the years. I want to make sure that I know that I’m worthy of love even when I’m at my lowest.

Interests

Music: I’m a big fan of all genres (even some country songs too) but I’m a big listener of k-pop! But here is a list of my favorite groups + musicians: Red Velvet, Melanie Martinez, Laufey, Idelwork, Frank Sinatra, NMIXX, Ive, Megan Thee Stallion, Flo Milli, Poppy, Lesserafim, Aespa, Newjeans, Infinity Song, Kiss of Life, and many more!

Media: I’m not going to list every kind of media I’m into but here is a small taste! Big fan of ARGs, Indie Horror games (puppet combo specifically), Mascot Horror games (FNAF + Poppy Playtime), Anime (although I haven’t watched anything recently, but my fave is TBHK), K-dramas and Thai-dramas, YouTube video essays (TRO, iNabber, Primik, Stephanie Soo), Cartoons (Owl House, Gravity Falls, Amphibia, MLP, stuff like that), RPG + Dating Sim games (Shooter game HATER here), Sitcoms, Snoopy/Peanuts, Miraculous Ladybug (biggest MariChat lvr) Twisted Wonderland (Azul my love) and a BUNCH more things I’m into, but I’m not going to list them all like I said :,)

Hobbies: Doing my nails, playing my flute, writing fanfics (don’t judge I BEGGG), reading (pls recommend books for me to read, I love the classics too), deco (for my photo cards and notebooks lol), and makeup!

I think that should suffice for my introduction, though it looks a bit long…I’m a blabber could you tell?

Here is why the McElroys should consider hiring me if they were ever to adapt Ethersea:

I love Ethersea a lot. Like I'm crazy about it. I'm actively making tables on the wiki and going back and doing episode summaries. I take really detailed notes (I had 22 pages from just the five prologue set ups). I keep track of shit. I have a compilation of all the transcripts in one pdf open at all times.

I have a Vision. The framing, the pacing, the composition, what to keep or cut or add onto, design details. All of it.

While I would not even dare to shoot for the position of illustrator on this ambitious a project (in which I have no professional training so I would be shit at formatting), I do have a creative background in illustration, which would prove useful when communicating with the artist.

I know people! I am your eyes and ears within the Ethersea community. You need a heads up on how something would be received -- well, I've seen how it might! Character choices that matter, relationships that people want to see expanded on, the favorite goofs-- I know them! Your favorite artists who draw scenes from Ethersea? I follow them, I talk to some of them. One of them is my Dungeon Master!! You want to see concepts for this setting? Oh I know a guy! I am like an eel weaving between rocks, you cannot stop me. I find every ethersea post eventually.

I have a diverse array of interests and skills. I may not be a marine biologist but I would drive down to Monterey to talk to one. You need an analytical look at the narrative, to pull apart its themes? Let me just... move this AP Literature score of 5 out of the way so I can start telling you why Ethersea is an incredible piece of fiction with compelling characters and a world that is alive, and how it can function as an allegory to our own relationship with our world. You need someone to do meticulous copy edits? I already have a style guide open in another tab-- being the editor for yearbook trained me for this. I do not only succeed in the technical writing department, but I also have a deep love for science, especially the natural world. My proximity to the pacific ocean means learning a lot about marine ecology even just in passing, and I really love chasing that curiosity.

I have a lot of thoughts about brinarr and their designs. I began working on a speculative biology project about Brinarr but have yet to return to it-- but I learned a Lot about corals and other marine species in that time. I worked on this at the same time as I was taking an anatomy and physiology class (which I have kept my notes from for future reference), and combining these two understandings into one has been one of the more difficult but rewarding creative tasks I've pursued. Because of my variety and versatility of skills and interests, bringing multiple things together to create something new is something I enjoy and comes easily to me.

I am an excellent note taker! I take notes by my very nature. Twice I went to a college tour with a notepad and pen only to find I was alone in that. I have 44 pages of notes from D&D when we only had 5 sessions. I had an organized document for APUSH that was dreadfully long but extremely navigable. I keep my documents in folders. I keep my PLAYLISTS in folders. You will absolutely be able to find the correct document that you're looking for.

I may not have any degrees, or expertise in publishing, but I do have an intense passion for Ethersea and strong motivation to learn and adapt. While this is an absolutely futile endeavor on my end, I am shouting it into the void in the hopes that it is heard.

nightmarish (and probably racist) private school parents contributed significantly to the nightmare year that ultimately killed my willingness to continue with classroom teaching (aka the dream of my entire adulthood to that point) for good, and also several of them drove close personal friends of mine completely bugfuck crazy, so, like, i'm really not emotionally invested in defending private school parents as a demographic. but i do find that a lot of discourse around the motivations of private school parents in choosing private school feel to me misguided and more interested in moralistic grandstanding than in accuracy (on the INTERNET? crazy, i know). and i am saying this now and thinking about it now because the number of these things i had to deal with in high school was: zero!

#i mean there were other things about my high school experience i didn't realize were fucked up until i was an adult #and my high school experience definitely contributed to the Problems of me and several people i know #but. i dunno. #i think that people tend to assume private schools are basically the same as public schools but with like #different (whiter/richer) student demographics #and maybe more APs or whatever #that is really not true to my experience as someone who has spent a lot of time in both #(also residential segregation is so intense i think even the demographic question is more complicated than people assume) #(the whitest school i attended in my life was the westchester public school where i spent first and second grade) #(diversity in that classroom was like. me a japanese girl and a kid whose dad tried to keep his jewishness on the DL) #also i used to think private schools should be illegal so that rich parents would have to invest in the public school system #but i am no longer convinced that would make a difference partly bc segregation and partly bc like #parents also don't know what makes schools good #the private elementary schools i taught in the parents thought we were doing a great job pedagogically and we were Not as i came to realize
