So I was getting lost in a Merlin Wiki rabbit hole, as one does, and I stumbled across the page for spells. And turns out the writers actually put a lot more thought into it than I initially thought (they're not actually just shouting random words in Old English). But what shocked me the most was learning what Merlin was actually saying to Arthur while he was unconcious in the Poisoned Calice episode. I always thought he was trying to enchant some sort of protection spell to keep Arthur safe while he couldn't be there for him. But turns out he was actually declaring poetry, POETRY to Arthur the whole time!
That's right, Merlin was declaring actual POETRY to Arthur on his deathbed!! I kept seeing the wiki mention verses from a book called Beowulf and I got curious so after a quick Google search, I found out that it's actually one of the most famous epic poems in Old English and I just lost it!! I never thought this episode could get any gayer...
I love that it doesn’t matter if you ship merthur or not, the only thing that could be going through Leon’s mind when he walked into Merlin and Arthur standing dangerously close to each other in a dark room alone could be “they are fucking” and this keeps me alive everyday
It is December at last, and I remember your words. “Thank you,” you said to me, and perhaps I should have known then; to take it and let you go. Maybe if I had, all those years ago, I would not be so miserable now. It is December at last, and I stand by the lake; still, you are not here. And somehow… I understand.
It is indeed December. Y’all know what that means!!
(Pain. Nothing but pain)
I had to make a tribute to the finale for once. I have no excuse as to why I ignored the past few anniversaries, but this year felt right, somehow. Like letting things go, like hoping again. Even if things can feel a lot more hopeless. Consider this piece a vent of sorts, but projected toward a fandom that kills and heals me constantly.
I hope you guys enjoy your holidays! Stay safe, stay warm. Always hope.
"It's a tragedy, they way he loves you; it is a tragedy that star crossed lovers will read an weep over a hundred years later, and weep over blood not yet spilt - because if you two could not make it, no one will" - the playwrights will write your names in the darkness of the sky."
Honestly how I see merthur’s first introduction from Arthur’s perspective
Just,,, “There’s something about you Merlin, I can’t quite put my finger on it” like some deep subconscious part of Arthur’s mind just knew that Merlin was going to be important to him.
Also… I mean they were flirting IMMEDIATELY so there was that

and we've got a part three! with merthur this time! and significantly less angst!
I tried to make this one a bit like a duet, if you pay attention you can see that the words are closer to one of the boys vs the other, rather than spread across the pictures like I usually do.
Gaius, Hunith, and Leon will be in the next part, I promise. I've got it all sorted out.

the first one is arthur and merlin in ealdor. I was gonna do the "there is no more rope!" scene for the literal climbing out the window, but I figured the more metaphorical rebellion against uther was better.
peep the poetry with the scene about poetry! haha
I chose the labyrinth of gedref for that catalog line because I wanted to include it, and also I found it fit because they were trying to bring back the food/harvest - like dawn to a field
also that kingdom line was too perfect to not use for Ygraine's sigil! I'm so happy I got to fit it in!
They(with the knights) get attacked by bandits, however these bandits recognise Merlin
Bandit 1: Holy shit it's you! Marcus it's him!
Bandit 2: Omg, it is!
Bandit 1: *pulls out a pretty leathered book* please sign this, my sister loves your work!
Bandit 3: *pulls out his book* aye, mine too, me wife loves it.
Pretty much all of them bring out a book for Merlin to sign. Once it's all signed and Merlin negotiating that they don't attack(and sends them the druids for some spy work), the ex-bandits are happy and patting Merlin's shoulders or back.
Bandit 1: Thank you. My sister is going to love this!
Bandit 6: You're a good one.
Waving goodbye they all watched the bandits leave.
Merlin: Well, that was unexpected. Let's go home shall we?
