If you’re interested:
- Pick a photo from this fine selection brought to you by the Fear Factory haunted house: https://www.flickr.com/photos/nightmaresfearfactory/ (You can also google ‘Nightmare’s Fear Factory’ and you’ll mostly end up with the highlights, but going through the big gallery is a fun time, highly recommend either way)

Happy Halloween! <3
I was cackling the entire time I was working on these lol sadly had to forego adding raze because the duelist one is so perfect ;A;
The Originals + HC (late edit):
Tumblr media
Going into the haunted house the older members--particularly Brim and Viper didn't expect to be jump scared by actors posing as mannequins. First (unexpected) thing Brim did was panic and grab the person next to him. Everyone in the middle walks into each other because of this. My favorite detail here is Astra and Viper grabbing onto Omen on both sides in panic. They were not in control of the situation at all lol
Duelists reacting like duelists would. Yoru almost picked a fight with the staff. Then there are Reyna and Phoenix trying to be casual about getting jumpscared.
Sentinels, who are usually used to watching the backlines are caught off guard lol I just had a great time drawing cool and collected characters being anything but ehehe my favorite here is Sage eheh
Initiators, I think of all 4 groups they knew what they were getting into so only one person really got caught by surprise--Sova, ironically the hunter lol Fade would be the type who'd say she had seen worse so she was unamused xD

Hey, Melissa, don't be mad, but, ah...
I may have gotten carried away. A little. So I pulled out some old projects of mine, and, um...
may have sent Skobel an absolute monstrosity. I've custom rebuild like 75% of this thing now, Blake's sake we leave so soon how am I supposed to...
Well! No need for sleep! Maybe with Skobel's help I can get it done within the next day so it's ready for takeoff

Awesome AWS-9Q-DLb "Old Girl"
Mass: 80 tons Chassis: DeLacey MechWorks AWS CComp-type Power Plant: DeLacey MechWorks 240 XL-C Cruising Speed: 32.4 kph Maximum Speed: 54 kph Jump Jets: DeLacey MechWorks A-240 Jump Capacity: 90 meters Armor: Durallex Heavy Special Armament: 3 ER PPC 1 HAG/20 Manufacturer: DeLacey MechWorks, Skobel MechWorks Primary Factory: Terra Communication System: DeLacey MechWorks 110 "Lynx" Targeting & Tracking System: DeLacey Mechworks 2870 "Deadeye" with Neutron Star CEWS Introduction Year: 3150 Tech Rating/Availability: F/X-X-X-X Cost: 19,125,000 C-bills
Overview The Awesome was designed in 2665 for the Star League by the Technicron Conglomorate and was based on the aging STR-2C Striker. While not as fast as its forefather, the Awesome is a strong assault 'Mech.
Capabilities The Awesome's abilities are nearly entirely dependent on its particle projection cannons. The AWS can withstand a severe and consistent onslaught from its weaponry thanks to several heat sinks. With one and a half tons more armor than the Striker, the AWS is more protected than even the BattleMaster. The Amazing, like any other BattleMech, has weaknesses. While it is lethal at range, it is less effective in close-quarters combat since its PPCs have a tougher time connecting with the victim. In that case, it just possesses a light weapon and a left fist to fall back on. Because of its limited mobility, it is vulnerable to flanking attacks from speedier opponents seeking to get past the PPCs. While they face arguably of the heaviest rear armor found on any BattleMech, the Awesome's lack of rear facing armaments or a weapon mount on its left arm has offered numerous MechWarriors a fighting chance. Formations of Awesomes (or even just a few) are incredibly effective and tough to stop or defeat when correctly placed by commanders who are knowledgeable of the AWS's limitations.
Deployment Originally an AWS-9Q, this Awesome has been rebuilt from the ground up by Karrie DeLacey with assistance from Skobel MechWorks' facilities. Re-built on a Clan-spec endo-composite chassis, the mech features three ERPPCs and a Hyper-Assault Gauss/20 for overwhelming offense at any distance. It mounts one more heat sink than the previous version. Perhaps most notably, this version contains an SLDF experimental Neutron Star CEWS; based on recaptured Society tech, it promises to share targeting data on the fly in addition to providing electronic countermeasures--though to use it requires balancing the impressive heat burden of the 'Mech.
History Awesomes can be found in every military House. Because the Free Worlds League has the last remaining manufacturing factories capable of generating the Awesome, it also has the most Awesomes of any of the Great Houses. Opinions on the 'Mech vary greatly within the League. Many people laud its powers, while others believe that its limited mobility is too high a price to pay for what it can do. Similar sentiments exist in the other Houses, but none of them can debate the issue beyond academics. Few commanders would turn down the opportunity to acquire an Awesome for their army. The Awesome is typically used to assault a fixed position or to breach the enemy's line of defense. They are also in demand for defensive operations. MechWarriors piloting the Awesome can expect to be involved in heavy battle and to be charged with obtaining or guarding the most crucial objectives from the adversary.

“It’s just a bad dream… Right?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Cartoon universe, CatNap had a nightmare of the Bigger Body himself slaughtering a lot of people in the factory (in the Poppy Playtime universe and “the Hour of Joy” event).
It has bothered CatNap a bit and he had the same nightmare a few times until this time his hands were covered with his friends’ blood.
And in his nightmare, when CatNap saw DogDay’s dead body in front of him, he was horrified and questioned himself about what happened and why he killed his friends. As the other CatNap (the bigger body) behind him, it’s to symbolize his inner demon haunting him to make him believe this is who he truly is inside of himself and part of his fear.

*jump scares you with lore art for my poppy playtime au*
Tumblr media
I've been a fan of Poppy Playtime for awhile now, and it's kinda been my most recent hyperfixation.
In this au, the player is a former employee of playtime Co. named Patrick Desmond. He worked in the Game Station, caring for the children as they arrived. About a year into his employment, Patrick met a teacher from the Playcare named Lilith. The pair started working more closely after Patrick was promoted to a position in her school, started dating, and got married two years after meeting. (A healthy hetero couple???Nani??)
Some time later, a boy named Daniel Harvey came into the factory. He was orphaned at five years old, and was taken in by Playtime Co. He was meant to become a test subject; they intended to use him to create DogDay, but he was one of the lucky few to escape when Patrick and Lilith adopted him at 7.
Lilith sadly wound up losing her job at Playtime Co., when Miss Delight was created. She was heartbroken at leaving her students, but made the most of it by focusing on her adopted son, and her new life as a mother.
Patrick stayed at Playtime Co. for another four years. As time passed, he became more suspicious. Why did kids keep disappearing? Why was no one answering any questions? Everything came to a head when a child he was watching dropped her Mommy Longlegs toy, and Patrick was mortified to see blood spilling from between the plastic.
Following that incident, Patrick began scrutinizing Playtime Co. more closely. In a risky move, he snuck into his manager's office to investigate. He wound up finding papers describing the requirements for experiment test subjects. With that, he realized that all the rumors he'd heard over the years were true, that this childcare program was nothing more than a way for the company to gather subjects for their sick experiments.
Patrick made up his mind; he put in his two weeks notice. His boss wasn't happy, but Patrick was determined to muscle through the last weeks and leave this pit of a factory.
Now, as is canon, he called in sick on August 8th, 1995. The Hour of Joy. Daniel brought a cold home from school, and Patrick caught it. The next day, despite still being ill, Patrick tried to go to work. When he saw a flood of cop cars outside the factory, Patrick figured they'd been exposed for their crimes, turned tail and went straight home.
The police asked questions, of course, but since Lilith hadn't been there for years and Patrick had missed work that day, they had little reason to ask much of them. They still cooperated insofar as they could.
Ten years went by, and though Patrick had gotten a new job at a grocery store, Playtime Co. was always on his mind. The couple agreed that Danny was the only good that came from the situation, but Patrick could never shake the guilt. He had no idea what happened in the factory, or why he never saw any former employees around. Still, the guilt of leaving when there was clearly something going on lingered.
So when he received a vintage Poppy Playtime advertisement and a messily written plea to return, Patrick hardly thought twice.
Daniel, 17 now, had grown up with a loving but guilt ridden Patrick as his dad. He didn't know what exactly went down in the factory, but had memories of Playcare and the way he and the other kids were treated. He knew his dad felt guilty about leaving the factory, so when Patrick ran off without warning Danny knew exactly where he went.
Danny would be damned if he let his Dad go trudge through the painful memories of the past alone, so he went in after Patrick, facing what could have been his fate in his quest to find his father.
Lilith has her own demons regarding that factory, so she always held her husband back from returning. Her worst nightmare came to fruition when both her husband and son charged headlong right into the belly of the beast. Not willing to stand by while her family went down the drain, Lilith put aside her fear of Playtime Co. and went in after them.
So we have a man riddled with survivors guilt, a boy facing what his fate was meant to be, and a woman who knows more than she lets on...
Mayyybe a fic upcoming?? I'm still working on my Mario one, I promise. I've just hit a creative roadblock, so I'm gonna try to redirect to a different project and revisit it later to see if the flow returns. Sorry to keep you waiting!🙏
Let the games begin.

January
The new year had never felt so sweet. Her victory with Max and Redbull had been a dream. Max taking another championship, had the entire team walking on cloud nine.
She spent new years with her boys. It's tradition at this point to messily kiss all together as the new year comes around.
They'd done so much for her. She's come so far in her journey.
"What are you thinking about, Love?" Neither her nor Lando could sleep. Most nights, they end up talking to get the heavy thoughts to lessen a bit. It's why they get one half of the bed to themselves.
"How nice it feels to know I'm still here and loved." She rests her head on Lando's chest, the steady rythme of his heart lulling her into a restful state.
"Life wouldn't be the same without you." He kisses the top of her head as her mind finally gives into sleep.
February
Her and Max sit together at the large conference table. The factory is preparing for the new season. Energy is running high, and she can feel it crackling in the atmosphere.
Christian talks about how excited he is for the new season. 2023 is going to be theirs to dominate. Adrian has been working tirelessly to give them a title worthy car.
"We have had to make some last-minute changes to the team, unfortunately." Christian makes eye contact with her, and the good feeling she had dissolves. "Your race engineer has fallen terminally ill and is being hospitalized. The good news is we've found a last-minute replacement."
The door opens, and she feels the air leave her lungs. Her body shakes in fear of the man who takes confident strides to his chair.
Christian introduces them, clearly not understanding that they know each other very well. The man is her father, after all.
She has her mother's last name. Intent on separating herself from him entirely. He'd been doing Indie car for years. She never thought he'd make the switch after how they left things.
Max shoots her a concerned look, but she shakes it off. None of the boys had ever seen what her father looks like. They don't know she changed her last name.
She has no intention of ruining a good season because of her petty emotions. So, she says nothing.
March
It's not as bad as she thought it would be. They don't interact much aside from talking about data and while she's in the car.
The underhanded comments make her thoughts reel. The constant questioning of her skill while she's driving makes her think she's crazy. Her father is too good at making it look like a joke. People laugh with him, not understanding he means what he says.
He talks over her, cuts her off, bosses her around like she's still a child. She shrinks in on herself every time he cones around.
Stay silent and listen. That's what got her through her childhood. Just don't make him angry.
He lashes out when he's angry.
Charles is there when a nightmare causes her to be sick. A memory of her childhood that haunts her still.
The Monegasque holds her hair up and rubs her back as she sobs. He makes her a warm drink and holds her, letting her wet tears soak into his shirt.
"Do you want to talk about it, mon chéri?" He whispers gently against her forehead.
She inhales, breath catching in her throat as she does. "My dad, he - well - he used to say I'd never be anything. I sometimes dream about the memory."
"Your father and Jos can fuck off." Charles cups her face with his hands. "You are amazing. Whatever he told you is a lie. You've proven yourself to the world. Your younger self can rest knowing she got you here, that you are safe and loved and enough."
April
It's getting worse by the day. She's not sure where her father got the idea that he could order her around like she's still five and karting. It's getting annoying and ridiculous.
He's taken to snatching any food out of her hand and tossing it away into the nearest bin. What a waste. He could've eaten it himself.
He keeps telling her the car is too heavy. The data doesn't show that, but whatever. Her food being taken from her like when she was young was not how she expected the season to go. She takes to not eating because it's easier than fighting with him.
Her physio keeps asking her about why her weight seems to be plummeting recently. Even trying to get it back on her with altered meal plans. The concerns get brought up later in a meeting with Christian. The severity of her condition being made apparent.
Max watches her sob over a salad. She can tell he wants to push, asked what is causing the relapse. Understand where her head is at.
He hands her a water bottle and waits until she drinks the entire thing. "It's okay to struggle, but please don't shut us out. You don't have to do this alone, alright?"
She doesn't respond, simply collapses into his patient arms.
May
Lando and Charles happened to be passing by at the worst time. The Redbull garage still buzzing with the excitement of Max's podium and her mediocre result compared.
They saw her race engineer laying into her about every mistake. No other staff around to hear the conversation. Her head hung in shame as he pointed out every flaw.
Charles interrupts with such ease. He says her PR officer was looking for her earlier. It gets her to excuse herself from the conversation, leaving the two boys with her engineer.
"Mind your own business next time," scoffs the older man. He leaves the younger two confused.
Charles takes in Lando's mildly anxious body movements. "Something isn't right, Charles. She had that same look from when we were rookies."
Charles hums in agreement. "We'll have to wait for her to come to us for now."
June
The underhanded comments are getting progressively worse. People have started noticing that something is off about her race engineer and his behavior towards her.
Meetings are difficult and the team is walking on eggshells. Max looks ready to explode and has been ripping her father to pieces after every comment. He gets in trouble, so she asks him to stop.
She doesn't mind. Her whole life has been taking this kind of behavior from him. Max knows better than anyone that it's best to respect that kind of ask.
"I'm here if things ever get to a point where you want it to stop. I will always be here for you."
July
Her wight combined with her self-harming habits are making it harder to drive. Somewhere in her head she knows she can't continue like this. The car no longer works with her.
Christian keeps pulling her into his office and asking her about where she's at. Warning her the if she continues down this road, she won't be able to drive. That he'll be forced to find a replacement.
She cries as the boys hold her. She tells them she's not sure if she can do it anymore, that she's not cut out for this sport. They comfort and reassure her that's a lie.
Her thoughts remain stuck on being a burden to them. She gets better just to fall once more into her old habits. They have careers and goals that would be easier to achieve without her around.
Maybe her father is right about her after all.
August
The summer break brings them a much-needed reprieve from the fast-paced world they live in. She gets to spend time away from the incessant voice of the man she hates. Her boys occupying her mind instead.
There is a finality about this that she can't explain. Like things can only get better from here on out. That something in her future is going to bring her the one thing she's looking for.
Swimming in the ocean and eating what they want. They laugh and joke like nothing has changed. It's the first time in months that she feels normal.
This is how things should be. The smile on her face is genuine and the boys can all tell.
September
The cuts line her skin in an unorganized fashion. Angry, red, and bleeding. Her race had been ended early due to a collision. She'd been collateral damage; it wasn't her fault.
The media didn't see it that way. Her father definitely had no mercy when he mercilessly explained how she will never be good enough as a driver.
Hidden away in her drivers' room now, watching the blood pour from her skin. The boys know, they've seen the fresh lines. They are trying to find a way to get her to stop, but these feeling are fighting back harder than ever before. She's not sure how to fight them anymore.
Disappearing seems like the best option. The only way she'll be able to escape the dark thoughts swirling in her head. The one place her father won't be able to touch her anymore will be in her death.
She moans as the blade digs deeper. The ecstasy that accompanies addiction is a feeling she will always crave. Sick satisfaction bubbles in her throat and pour out on her eyes as red stains the floor.
This wasn't her plan, but it's okay. The pain makes all her thoughts go away. Lessens the weight on her chest. Forces her mind to focus on something else.
Everything is spinning and then it goes dark.
Warm hands and comforting words. That's all she's ever wanted.
October
The boys can see how sick she is. Max won't let her be alone in the garage. Not after she almost died.
Her physio is with her when none of the boys are. They keep asking her questions that she won't give answers to.
It's not until an altercation with her father is finally caught. He's condemning her over the radio while she's driving. They'd had an argument earlier about how she should be taking turn three.
The public execution is miserable. Still, she puts her head down and drives.
The second-place trophy has never felt heavier. It drags her arms downwards as she heads to the garage with Max. He doesn't know about what happened yet and she hopes it stays that way. She screams as she puts it away in her room.
She avoids her father as much as possible on the way to the press conference. The glimpse she does get of him leaves a bitter taste in her mouth. Christian looks angry as he presses a finger into her father's chest.
She's zoned out majority of the conference. Until A journalist with a soft voice is asking about her feelings towards her race engineer.
"It's just how things are sometimes. I wasn't listening to instructions, and he was frustrated. It happens." She shrugs it off like this is the most normal everyday occurrence. Which, in her defense, it kind of is.
Every media outlet seems to want to know more about it. Her emotions are struggling to remain contained. the inevitable sobs escape after a particularly worded question about whether his actions could be considered abuse or not.
She breaks, collapsing in the middle of the media pen. Her boys are there blocking the view of the cameras as her body fails to move.
They know now what has been happening. Her secret is out there for everyone to see.
November
Her father is fired from the team with immediate effect. Christian apologizes relentlessly for not knowing and not seeing it sooner.
The media is asked to refrain from asking about the incident and anything regarding her past race engineer. They respect it, probably wanting to avoid another meltdown in the middle of an interview.
Max, Lando and Charles are with her through every step of the way. They encourage her to talk to them and she does. It feels nice not having to hold in her family secrets.
They want to help her, and she wants to be helped.
Her race engineer for the end of the season ends up taking the job for next year. He's kind and keeps his voice calm. Her last few drives amaze everyone.
The top step of the podium has never felt so good. She didn't need to prove herself to anyone, but the confidence it brings her is hard to deny.
Closure feels even better.
December
Her therapist is proud of her for opening up to the boys more. They don't push her to spill everything, but they encourage her when she does.
The end of the year pulls them closer together. After everything that happened, she wasn't sure she was going to see 2024 come around. She's glad she does though.
She fought to the end. She made it to her peace. A place where her father can't touch.
Warm hands and gentle words for all of eternity.
January... Again
Three boys stand in front of a grave. Her favorite flowers in hand. The silence stretches between them. None of them know how to proceed.
The memory of finding her on the floor replays in Max's head. He should've known to find her right after the race. That cold September afternoon in Zandvoort. The day she bled out for one final time.
Charles and Lando assure Max it's not his fault. IT hadn't been her plan. There was no note, not even a warning sign aside from her mental health declining.
Her father, who they now know was the catalyst for her relapse, is in jail. Christian made sure to get him put away so the boys wouldn't have to worry about it.
The other drivers came to the funeral. The journalists respect their wishes not to speak on the matter. They need to heal before they can even think about trying to explain how all three of them had taken time off.
The FIA pushed the races back since Redbull needed to sort things out. The memorial on the track has been visited by everyone on the team.
They tried so hard. They wanted her to stay. They can only hope that she found what she needed in whatever lies beyond this life.

Eddie looks at the empty fridge. Then his laundry. Back to the fridge.
Eddie’s brain’s been swimming in fog all night. The bites have been itchy, the nightmares had kept him up until he’d not bothered trying to sleep at all, and he feels like he’s gonna cry and for what. Just a basket of laundry and a near empty fridge.
It dawns on him that Wayne hasn’t left the factory yet, that Eddie could call him and ask him to get groceries on his way home. But Wayne’ been working longer shifts for a couple months now, to make up for the time he spent with Eddie in the hospital those first two weeks when no one was sure what was going to happen. Eddie’s been trying to do things on his own when Wayne isn’t there, to let him help when he is, to balance physical recovery and mental trauma and school and the bills sitting on the kitchen table.
Eddie won’t call Wayne.
He looks at the phone on the wall, weighs the pros and cons, tries to imagine himself getting into his van and driving all the way to the laundromat and then the grocery store by himself and already feels tired by it.
“Hello?”
“Hey Steve, it’s me.”
“Eddie, you ok?”
Eddie wraps the phone cord around his finger, grimacing at the worry he can practically see emanating from Steve.
“Yeah man, I’m uh, I’m like, fine? But could you help me do some, some errands?”
Eddie holds his breath, pulls the cord tight around his pinky finger.
“I’m on my way, Eddie. See you soon.”
And that’s that. Eddie hangs up, sliding his fingers from the cord and sits down on the couch, knee bouncing, until he hears the Beemer roll up onto the gravel drive. Steve let’s himself in and Eddie’s heart jumps into his throat when he realizes he’s left the door open this whole time and anything could have happened and—
“Hey Eddie,” Steve says, sliding onto the couch right next to Eddie, knee bumping bouncing knee.
“Hey.”
Steve presses his hand, just for a second, to Eddie’s knee. Eddie stills his knees but pulls a lock of hair into his mouth, can’t stop himself from doing it even as the voice that’s always in his head tells him to just stop.
Steve squeezes, then lets go. He stares at Eddie for a second more, then smiles softly and grabs the basket of laundry.
“Ok man, let’s go.”
“Can we, uh, run to the grocery store too?”
“Sure. Anywhere else?”
“No,” Eddie starts to lever himself up off the couch. “Thank you, Steve.”
Steve is already at the door, holding it open for Eddie as he props the basket up against his hip.
“No problem, man.”
His smile is soft, and Eddie feels his own lips curl up and knows Steve can see his eyes crinkle.
The early dawn of the morning is beautiful, promising. Eddie feels the anxiety of the night still gripping onto him, but it’s moved from his chest to his legs, which is better but still not best. Steve doesn’t try to make conversation as he sets the Beemer in motion, letting Eddie watch the passing trees to the tune of Tears for Fears. Maybe it’s because Eddie doesn’t even reach for the dial that Steve keeps quiet, or maybe it’s the gentle morning still making its way over the horizon, still burning off the last dredges of sleep.
Glancing at Steve, Eddie doesn’t think he got much sleep either.
The laundromat is on Eddie’s side of town, close enough to downtown that they’ll probably just walk to get groceries once the clothes are in the dryer. There’s no one else there, though a machine is running in the corner. Steve starts setting up the machine immediately, and Eddie suppresses his surprise behind a lock of hair. He wouldn’t have thought that Steve would know how to work the machine but wonders never cease. It lets Eddie sit down gingerly on chair by the window.
The restlessness in his legs has turned into an ache. Steve glances at him as he put the clothes in, separating lights and darks into two different machines. Eddie starts to push his hand into his pocket for change, but Steve, facing away from him, not even realizing, takes nickels and dime from his own pocket and pops them into both machines, setting them running.
“Here, I grabbed this for you,” Steve says, book in hand. It’s an old, tattered copy of a collection of science fiction Wayne had given him. It’d been sitting next to him on the couch, Eddie realized, and he takes it from Steve’s outstretched hand with a grin he can’t help.
“Thanks, Steve-o.”
Steve’s own grin breaks out. He pulls out his own book, which was in his back pocket, for whatever reason, and Eddie tries (and fails) to hold back the look of utter confusion that crosses his face. He swears Steve did that on purpose.
“Anytime, Ed.”
They sit in the loud-quiet, the clunking machine and soft sound of each other’s breaths, and for a little while, they just are.

Hear me out.
It's angst.
I think I used 2/3 characters but it's mainly a brief mention of CatNap and a brief Poppy mention + scene. Just dogday and reader afterwards.
---
Poppy runs to Dogday , maybe after the part where CatNap takes the gas mask , because we haven't contacted her in a while.
He finds us from where we passed out in game , but we haven't woken up yet, due to the heavy dosage of the sleeping gas.
When he does find us , we're also partially injured due to the effects of the gas by proxy- Aka. we probably scratched ourselves during the nightmare.
He takes us to Poppy's glass room , which they can probably use as a hideout when they need to rest.
He watches over us as he feels guilty --- having not been there to protect us as we stressed that we'd be okay , so he could go do a different job in the task list to make things faster.
We wake up maybe a day later or you can leave that up to the reader's imagination.
Rapture

Sypnosis || feeling injured and for lack of a better word — comatose, it left DogDay in feelings he didn’t want to experience ever again.
Tumblr media
She didn’t know what to do, this was inconceivable. Many questions ran through the depths of her fabricated mind, but all she could do is alert DogDay to find you.
You hadn’t responded for a long period of time, she was beginning to get worried. Sure, you sometimes didn’t respond at times, dealing with certain situations that had left you with a bitter taste on the tongue. Poppy was distressed more than ever, worry was a common feeling when you are in a place like the Playtime Co. Factory. But this was something different, a pitted feeling in her gut that this was something different.
She couldn't slow down however, she needed to tell DogDay. Poppy clambered through the familiar vents, trying to find the large dog. Finally, she came to a stop and had found the very toy she was looking for.
“Psst-” Poppy climbed through the vent completely, exposing herself to DogDay’s view. “DogDay!”
DogDay yelped, growling as he whipped his head around. His false temperament faded away quickly enough as he realized that it was only Poppy, the small toy. “Poppy?” His strewn voice echoed, laced with clear exhaustion. He certainly didn’t expect her to make an appearance so soon after the last time they all met up with each other.
Poppy’s face had presented fear and worry, which was something that had instilled a shadow of fear over his heart. Her red brows furrowed as she thought for a moment, a way to articulate her words without making it even worse than it needs to be. “I know something’s wrong, what is it?”
“Uhm, you know who?” Poppy began, her tiny hands crossing over each other as she stood with a presentable stance. “I haven’t gotten word for some time now, and it’s worrying.”
Those very words struck a fear in his heart that DogDay didn’t like, he didn’t like those words at at all. You were in trouble, and he was gonna find you. He needed to find you at all costs, DogDay didn’t waste time, leaving Poppy where she stood. Poppy had understood his time of hurry, not resenting the sunny dog at all. DogDay walked in fast and large strides, having gotten better use of his legs now that they are attached again.
“Angel..” A small whimper escaped him, not wanting to know what kind of state he might find you in. “Please be okay.”
Not at all, were his wishes true. The state you are in had left DogDay dumbfounded, he straggled over to you, strength slightly sapped after he had struggled the door that had opened to you. The room was full of Poppy Gas, no doubt trapping you in a nightmare – not a dream. You were injured, he had no doubt it was because of CatNap you were desperately trying so hard to escape it.
DogDay cradled you in the warmth of his arms, trying to not move you too much due to the extent of your very clear injuries. CatNap had stolen your gas mask, which had in return caused you to fall asleep to the effects of the sleeping gas.
He was surprised you hadn’t awoke yet, later on he had assumed it was due to the heavy dosage of the Poppy Gas. This was a sight he had so desperately wished to escape, but for your sake he had continued onward to the glass room with you in his arms.
Once he had finally arrived, DogDay opened the door and walked into the room and set you down with a gentle tenacity he didn’t know he had in him. For a moment, he dared let his attention stray from your being as he had walked back to the door and closed it. His head thunked against the wall forlorn laying atop the door, as he was quite tall. A noise, between a groan and a whimper had escaped him, “I should’ve been with you..”. You on the other hand were still asleep, you had been through enough as it is. Even though he remembers your insistence that you would be fine and right by yourself.
“DogDay, it’s gonna be fine,” You grin at him. “Besides, it’s not gonna take that long..” Your hand wanders over to his arm, patting it as you want to reassure him. He frowned for a moment at your stubbornness.
“Okay?”
DogDay should’ve been so much more clearer, more defiant at most. So that your grim situation never happened in the first place, he could’ve been there to protect you against CatNap. You saved him, and he could’ve saved you. That much he should’ve been allowed to do, but for now, he had to watch over you. In order to make sure you were okay and could continue onward and stop the Prototype once and for all.
Minutes passed, perhaps even hours. But he hadn’t paid proper attention to the passage of time, only you were on his mind constantly. DogDay could feel a churning fear of guilt and sadness in his chest, building up so far that even he was surprised at how big his emotions could go.
The one thought that continuously ran through his mind is that he should’ve been there for you, so that you weren’t injured, that you weren’t in such a deep sleep because of it all. DogDay had allowed himself, only slightly, to tentatively rub reassuring touches upon your head as if he were caressing your cheek.
He did that to ground himself, and maybe to see if that were to elicit a reaction out of you.
It was only within the fifth hour that you had finally woken up.
“DogDay?...”
