Junkrat/Reader General/Relationship HCS (SFW + NSFW)

'He fills up a big space in your life. All 6’5 of him. Leaves soot on your couch. Dirty underwear in your room. Boba in your fridge. And you wouldn’t have it any other way.'

I've been having major Junker brainrot recently and had to get this one out of my system. Will probably eventually work my way through the hero roster doing similar HC'S.

you might notice I've wrote talon/overwatch in these hc's - that's because I'd like to leave it up to you guys' whichever organisation you think he's affiliated with. I'm not too sure which route they'll take with the Junkers in canon concerning that - so I'll just leave it open ended.

WARNING for some spicy HCS near the end!

Jamie is off-putting. There's no other way to frame it.

He's got sharp features, very intense eyes and takes up a significant presence in every social situation he enters. He talks quick, directly, and brazenly; and if you're a naturally introverted person he's probably going to make you feel uncomfortable at first because he’s not shy at all. He’s just… a lot.

Once you get past the initial bombshell that is getting to know Jamison, you’ll quickly come to realise he’s actually a very friendly guy. Sure – at times he can be wild, unruly, abrasive. A tad stinky. Loudmouthed and raucous. With a significant klepto/pyro-manic streak that always keeps you just a little bit on guard. Not to mention guilty of many crimes and apparently proud of it.

By most people's standards… repugnant. And yet somehow totally magnetic at the same time.

GENERAL HC'S

There’s no filter to Jamie’s speech. He says whatever pops into his head which is both a blessing and a curse. And by God, when this guy sees someone that tickles his fancy, he’s inevitably going to try his hand at chatting them up. This has… very varying levels of success. Good thing it seemed to work on you, though.

When Jamie likes someone a lot, it tends to consume him. Makes him irritable and over-excited, brimming with even more pent-up energy than usual. Roadhog always knows when Jamie has taken a fancy to someone because of this.

There's a ton of little idiosyncrasies Jamie displays that Mako picks up on. Mumbling to himself – having full blown, imaginary conversations in which your name will be peppered throughout.

Talking about you, period. How great he thinks you are. Things you’ve done that he's reading into a little too much in an attempt to justify that the feeling might be mutual. Jamie’s not shy to consult his larger counterpart about his interest in you.

Though he finds it amusing at first, the incessant yammering will most definitely begin to grate on Mako’s nerves and eventually culminates in the Hog physically depositing Jamie at your door. (award for world’s greatest wingman goes to Roadhog) :

“Say it to them, not to me.”

“B-but… but Roadie –”

“You’re all talk,” Mako rumbles, “You want em’ so bad, then do something about it.”

RELATIONSHIP HCS

He's got a real animalistic sort of quality to him. His boundaries are almost non-existent at times. He's raw in a relationship, very unafraid to be physical. Expect a lot of touching; hovering over you in his odd, slouchy way, draping his too-long limbs over your shoulders, nibbling on your earlobes, squeezing your flesh wherever he finds it most enticing (usually your hips or your ass).

Don’t wear white clothes around him. He’s very prone to leaving sooty handprints on your clothing which can be incredibly embarrassing when you're oblivious to it.

The excess of physical contact can sometimes be a little jarring/unpleasant, especially if he’s been out on a job and just got back. He's not always the most hygienic; carries a smell of gunpowder and sweat with him wherever he goes - and sometimes he's got a real case of bad breath.

He'll make a bit more of an effort to scrub himself up when he's in a relationship, however. Partly from your nagging and partly because he's got a performative/self-conscious streak. If he likes somebody, he wants to impress them, to appeal to them. That results in him preening a bit more. You know this man is down bad if you smell deodorant off of him. (and no, the deodorant definitely doesn't belong to him. he stole it from some unsuspecting talon/overwatch member in the communal showers...)

Very involved and sometimes clingy. Wants to know where you’ve been, what you’ve been up to. Not in a distrustful way – it’s more of a ‘I like you a lot and I want to feel closer to you in any and every facet of your daily routine’ way.

I get the feeling that he’d appreciate someone nurturing in a relationship. (cough cough his interactions with Ana… god bless that boy and his mommy issues) He loves the feeling of being fussed over, hands on, a really tender sort of loving. It makes him absolutely melt. Secret mommy kink? Maybe.

More of a general one; but Jamie goes through mobile phones like he goes through bombs. First mistake that you and Mako had learned from was getting him an expensive one. It was broken within the first two days of having it. From then on Jamie is the proud owner of the most ass quality cellular devices on the market thanks to his propensity for destruction. It’s a revolving door of phones. You’ve got so many different numbers in your contacts for Jamie that it borders on ridiculous.

When he hasn’t, miraculously, blown up or shattered his phone screen, he makes it a habit to text or call you throughout the day. (In all caps... with a healthy dosage of spelling errors and emojis.) Sometimes sends only poor-quality picture images with no explanation of what it is he's trying to show you. It’s a fun puzzle, trying to figure it out.

SPICY HCS

Doesn’t take much to get his engine going, if you catch my drift. Very active sex drive, especially after he’s out of Australia and gone ‘legit’ – his body has gotten a lot healthier and as a result his virility has increased.

In fact, Jamie is pretty much DTF whenever, wherever, at a moment’s notice. Just say the words and he’s ready and raring to go. Honestly, he’s almost always a little bit turned on when he’s around you.

Pretty well endowed. Long, thin, uncut. A little messy down there. He doesn’t see the point nor care for shaving and body hair doesn’t bother him much. If you want to go au natural, then Jamie’s your guy.

The pictures Jamie sends can often be… explicit. If he’s whacking one off then you’d better accept that you’re getting a picture of it, possibly without warning, and that’s that. He likes to feel like you’re involved in that kind of stuff even if you’re not physically present.

He’s a total switch in bed – though I do think it would depend a lot on his partners personality. Jamie is nothing if not adaptable. He can definitely do dominant if he’s in the mood or if his partner is submissive. It’s a huge turn on for him when his partner takes control in sex, though.

He especially likes a little bit of rough and tumble in bed. Fighting each other for dominance type beat. His partner being on equal footing with him is just as sexy as it is for him being dominated/doing the dominating. Very playful, very physical. And he definitely bites. A lot.

He’s got so much excessive energy that it can be slightly exhaustive. There’s three main avenues to which he tends to direct this manic energy: tinkering with his scrap and weaponry, talking for the whole of Oz (and then some), and of course, sex/masturbation.

If he’s especially hyper and you want the guy to calm down a bit, sex is a great way to tucker him out. He’s almost always down for a bit of fooling around and sleeps like a log afterwards.

Personally, I don’t think Jamie’s got a ton of sexual nor romantic experience. He might’ve fooled around here and there back in Junkertown when he was younger – but he’s never had a serious relationship. Though what he lacks in experience he more than makes up for in overwhelming eagerness.

He’s not afraid to try anything. Really, it’s hard to find something he isn’t down for. As long as you’re game too, then he’ll probably be agreeable to giving it a go.

His oral game is crazy. (have you seen that tongue!?)

Alright, he hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing but dude is giving it his all and then some! He’s very unafraid of giving oral and actually finds it pretty fun. He’s messy with it, but so eager and attentive that it doesn’t take long for him to get pretty fucking good at it. After a while he becomes an expert at making you cum with his mouth.

Downright feral when he fucks. When I said he was animalistic I meant it. A lot of stamina, speed, and power behind his thrusts.

Short refractory period. Doesn’t take long for him to get hard again and before you know it, he’s grinding on your ass and trying to mount you like the absolute sex goblin that he is – till he finally exhausts himself and passes out for the night.

His prosthetic leg gives him a bit of trouble when he’s being intimate sometimes, so he appreciates it if you can take the reins and be on top every now and again. Takes him a while to remove the ol’ peg leg in bed with you. He has to be really comfortable in the relationship because it’s sort of an insecurity for him.

Question for anyone who got their copy of Heroes Ascendant early: Does Lena get a single mention in Jack's story, or was Jack non-canonically lying to their corpse?

For context, I came across this post from 2017 and remembered that Jack had the line above. The wiki says "You fought with honor, kid" wasn't specific to Lena, but this video does, so there's that, too.

Every now and again, I feel silly for the whole "gay dad and his lesbian child" familial ship, as if I'm just projecting my daddy issues onto my favorite characters (/hj), but come on! Jack had those one or two lines and the "Okay, dad!" interaction in Overwatch 1, but he's the one character who DIDN'T mention Lena in the Valkyrie short story? Lena doesn't come up at all in Bastet, either!

He scoffs at the idea of joining up with Winston in Gibraltar and doesn't bring up or at least know that Lena did exactly that? Does he know about Lena's failure to prevent Mondatta's assassination just before Winston sent out the recall? You can't tell me he doesn't care about her enough to at least consider returning to the new Overwatch to be there for her, but why can't it just be spelled out for me as undeniable proof already? Like, when are we going to get a spray of the adoption papers? (/j)

(I ADORE tumblr because only on here have i had a user dm me to rave about a comment i left on their junker queen post and then after a long exchange on here exchange discords with me so we can rave about her writing)

(I like Twitter because we can have a similar-ish experience, but it stays in the replies and stops after 7+ tweets)

Anyways, STOP SAYING JQ AND MAD MAGGIE ARE THE SAME. They may have similar aesthetics and designs but wildly different arcs.

As previously explained, Mad Maggie is Māori New Zealander, which is super specific to her story and informs her character greatly. Junker Queen is a tan Australian with her skin color having very little influence on her story outside of showing she’s been in the sun a lot. (Personally I head-canon her as a mixed First Nations woman but that’s neither here nor there).

Both characters have their own writing flaws and virtues but that’s more a reflection of the writing team and there’s gold if you know where to look.

Mad Maggie is amazing. I’ve seen fans write her off as “crazy for the sake of crazy”. Which is just… so wrong?

Margarita Kohere’s madness is a duly faceted. She holds real, burning rage at the occupation of her homeland, and the one person who claimed to stand by her who left to seek his own dreams of glory. And her mental state is reflective of the trauma she’s endured from said occupation. She’s had to be tough as nails and even bloodthirsty to secure the autonomy and freedom of her people and do things that are morally dubious. She isn’t deranged for shits and giggles, she’s traumatized and aggressive to achieve what she views as liberation in a system determined to paint her as a villain as they takeover her home and brutalize her people. It’s there for a reason and integral to who she is.

On Junker Queen’s end she’s so cool. But there’s fans who write her off as a “dumb jock muscle mommy” which is also so wrong?! Like where are you people getting these?

(It’s the voice lines, I blame the voice lines)

Odessa Stone is aggressive yes, and her voice lines in game seem somewhat childish, but not even those reflect an unintelligent she-brute. The tough-as-nails attitude, similar to Maggie, is a product of her environment. In the Wastelands, might makes right and keeping your place in that hierarchy relies on having a level of physical superiority that can be enforced. She learned this lesson young being kicked out her home at a very young age and (presumably) losing her entire family to the radiated desert sands. Someone like that grows to understand how valuable power and the numbers to back it up is. Especially in her WL short, she is shown to be intelligent, empathetic, and a team player. The people of Junkertown lover her for a reason. She spared the lives of the former king’s lackeys and even took a hit to the face for one of them. In the art at the end, she’s shown to bring not only order, but stability and prosperity to Junkertown. She doesn’t hold herself apart from the other junkers but exercises her authority when/where its needed. She’s shown to have a great knack and intelligence for battle (as seen in her LoJQ short and the WL short) where she’s taken on a ridiculous amount of rogue omnics and slaughtered them, while utilizing non-lethal force against her human opponents in the reckoning. She’s not even remotely stupid or particularly bloodthirsty and the throwaway line about making widows and not eating her veggies got y’all fucked up.

(Honestly a bigger part of the problem is overwatch not letting their “heroes” kill in their shorts, and she’d been allowed to, she’d have been consistent at the very least from short to game but i digress.)

Overall, they not the same, neither of them suck, and they’d probably be besties if they knew each other irl. PERIOD.

Now that we have canon ages, lets do some statistics!

everyone's favorite clearly

Moving forward, I'm going to note that for all of this I used the current ages, not OVW1 ages, so as to get a feel for the spread of ages without worrying about the characters themselves getting older. Now, with that out of the way!

So, when it comes to the ages of Overwatch characters, one of my biggest gripes is about how the female characters tend to be younger than the male characters, but is that really true?

Yes!

As you can see with this helpful graph, females trend much younger than males. All non-humans are removed from this since their ages are weirder, but even with them, the two youngest are the females (Echo and Orisa).

Some other fun statistics!

The average age of human females is just under 34, with the median being 32. The average age of human male characters is 46.5, with a median of 47.5. More than a decade older! Hurray sexism!

Ok let's address something else

One question I wanted to ask myself, is Overwatch getting younger? It's a fair question, especially considering they just released Overwatch's youngest human hero.

So, to answer this, I made another graph! One line showing the age of the newest character and one line showing the average age as more characters are released.

Conclusions? I mean, technically? The average is definitely trending younger, but we started pretty high at just over 38 with Overwatch's initial release. Since then it's fallen to just over 36, which a fairly negligible drop. But if this trend continues... that's where it starts to get worrying.

Was this a good use of my time?

Sure. Who knows.

overwatch 2 is a truly insane fucking situation. seven years ago the original game opened with a very basic premise: winston sends out the recall for overwatch heroes to join up again. then the story sat in stasis for the entire run of overwatch 1. any story materials we did receive were all backstory.

and now, they're advertising that during the next season of the game, the story will FINALLY move forward. but event missions will be "a little bit of both" (canonical and non-canonical). WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?

if you're so disinterested in your own fucking story that you have to keep making all of these non-canon, oneshot/spinoff alternate universes, it probably isn't very good and you should just make a different game. like oh my god. even the fucking awful gollum video game had a story. it wasn't a good story, but they still had ideas and fucking committed to them. gollum.

The way I picture terminology for robots in Overwatch working is:

Omnic: Genericised trademark that now refers to any sapient robot, derived from the Omnica Corporation. Echo would be considered an omnic even though as far as I know she wasn't made in an omnium, as well as characters like Bastion and Zenyatta who fit a standard omnic design (plus non-playable characters like Iggy, Lynx 17, Maximilien and Luna who resemble Zenyatta's model but have various customizations) and Orisa, who's a custom build based on OR-15 parts. You know how people call adhesive bandages bandaids even if they aren't Band-Aid brand? Like that.

Robot: Any machine that can act autonomously, regardless of whether it's sapient, sentient, or even conscious at all. It's not incorrect or automatically offensive to call an omnic a robot, but it's kind of like calling a human "a primate" - if it doesn't have contextual relevance it sounds kind of dehumanising. Er. You know what I mean. Personhood-denying.

Machine: Similar to the above but replace "primate" with "animal" in the analogy. It's not untrue that an omnic is a type of machine but what point exactly are you making if you call them one, huh.

Drone: Non-sapient robot, such as Snowball, Mei's ice-making assistant. The Wrecking Ball mech might fit here depending on how much it can act on its own; it doesn't seem like remote-piloted machines are called drones in the Overwatchverse.

AI: An artificial mind at least as smart as a human (potentially more so!) that's differentiated from an omnic by not being built into a single standalone body. A friendly example is Athena, in-game narrator and Winston's mission control; she's part of the Watchpoint: Gibraltar complex.

God AI: Apparently the Anubis AI from Pharah's comic is the only canon example of one of these, or the only one the term's been applied to anyhow. Anyway it's an extremely powerful AI capable of taking over other computer systems, omnics included. I've seen speculation that other God AIs (or entities that would qualify for the description, even if that was an Anubis-specific epithet in context) include the mysterious Eye from Sombra’s backstory and maybe even the Iris but we don't have enough info to know one way or the other.

Bot: Impolite short form of robot. Not sure exactly how offensive it is to call an omnic a bot, but it’s mostly characters with anti-omnic attitudes who use the term, such as Junkrat. Probably still less rude than...

Tin can: Apparently a full-on anti-omnic slur in-universe, according to Hero of Numbani. Torbjörn and Reaper use it in game dialogue.

Rust bucket: Only used once twice, in Torb’s internal monologue in Binary and in a scene in Honor and Glory that takes place during the Omnic Crisis, but probably has similar connotations.

Finally returned to the sims after downloading some mods. The best mod it's saves with a bunch of buildings and most of the characters from the overwatch. Symmetra was not made by me, but I changed it a little with mods.

I'll warn you about Hector - he has scars on his body and face only when he arrived in the "Talon", but since I wanted to use the mods right away, in the screenshots he will have them non-canon while working in Vishkar

Overwatch 2 One Punch Man Crossover is Real, and It’s Amazing

Blizzard has made known all the updates, enhancements, and new pieces of content coming to its flagship first-person shooter game with the start of Overwatch 2 Season 3. The cooperation between Overwatch 2 and One Punch Man, which will make Doomfist the laziest hero ever, is the most unexpected. This Overwatch 2 One Punch Man crossover will start on March 7, so you’ve got a month of Overwatch 2 Season 3 from Blizzard before it officially drops. This is the “first-ever major IP collaboration for Overwatch 2” according to Blizzard as well, with skins and cosmetics set to drop in Season 3 as part of the deal. Combined with more frequent Overwatch 2 dev updates, this Overwatch 2 x One Punch Man collab is sure to be a welcome addition. So far we’ve seen the Saitama Doomfist skin, but Blizzard adds that more of the items will be revealed ahead of the March 7 release date, “with one being a Legendary skin that’s earnable via themed challenges.” It’s currently unclear exactly how the One Punch Man cosmetics and items will be rolled out, whether some will be available for free with some work (like the aforementioned challenges) or if they’ll all be in the store and in a bundle for a limited time.
