i have a personal issue with the idealization of the cottagecore vibe fandom due to living entirely off grid for 3 years in the woods and limited electricity and no running water. 10 hours a day of electricity

it is very hard work that involves a ton of labor and i think most people would not be able to sustain themselves permanently due to the burnout combined with the rest of society expecting u to live up to the standard of having electricity/shelter 24/7 and while we may romanticize the fact, hard work and isolation can entirely cut you off in the modern era even if you are a lone wolf or an introvert

if you have the money to be able to do that! great! good jorb. im glad for u

if you are poor and forced to live that way? everyone else gives u a huge fuck u when the smallest of things take a huge amount of work

it is a nice dream for sure but harder than what most expect

(this is entirely within the context of living in the USA mind you. and not the areas where plumbing is still not updated)

sorry for being so angry tonight. a better world is possible, we have the engineers, the knowledge, and the power to do it. but our world is driven by a greed and hatred unlike any other, one that sucks the soul out of us all.

we can live lives filled with peace, love, and relative comfort but it's been decided for us that we can't. we can uncover the secrets of our world and universe, but we only chose to do so when it's profitable.

there are so many amazing, wonderful, beautiful people on this world. so many vibrant cultures, so much love, so many hopes and dreams. but the west takes it all. capitalism takes more than the world can provide, pushes people into poverty and slavery, all so only a few can play with us all as mere toys and have dick waving competitions.

we're turned against each other, we're told others are savage and inhuman, that they're just a number, just a percentage point. they play god, and as one that is filled with nothing but vengeance and rage. one that only seeks to punish and hoard all that there is, until there isn't anything else anymore. we could've made such a beautiful world for ourselves by this point if a few key things had gone through, but greed and hatred was won time and time again.

my only hope is that we can finally start to push this horrid system into the fire, and we can truly start to set things right. for all its failings, i think the internet has really started to bring us together. i just want people to live and be happy. i want everyone to be able to follow their dreams and feel love. i really hope we can reach that point someday.

I’m going to be honest I actually cannot for the life of me remember who I was talking about in that post but if I had to guess I think the favorite Brit (in terms of people on the grid/associated with f1) might have been Jenson? Just based on what I could tell from the research I had done (doing activities off-the-grid together, general camaraderie)… I think I said that based more on how the media would sometimes play up the friendship between Nico and Lewis and how their level of friendship during that period in time (pre-Mercedes) actually (probably) wasn’t as best-friends-since-childhood as ppl make it out to seem…

Those who get up every day and dream of a quiet life.

Those who would settle for a simple, low-paid job to protect their peace. 

I dream of being able to live peacefully with the people I love, to have a little house with blue curtains and a place to store my shoes. 

I would like one dog, I would like a thousand of 'em.

I would like to sit in peace and do nothing for a few hours, having to worry only about the blueberry pie baking in my kitchen.

I crave a drastically different lifestyle.

I want to settle down in the mountains someday. I would need to be able to afford to drive in order to do this, though. I want a Jeep that I can take into town for my meds, groceries, and other necessities.

I want to buy some land and have my own small home built. I also want a garden. I don't know if I will ever be clever and healthy enough to earn the kind of money this requires. Probably not.

I would need a spouse or at least some friends to help me maintain everything too. I can't pull myself up by my bootstraps and do everything alone. I need a lot of support from others.

I don't know how air conditioning, heat, lights, and plumbing would work in an "off grid" home either. That's my main concern when looking at building guides: the utilities. lol

I also wouldn't want to live anywhere with no internet or cellular service. I would want to stay connected to the world to some extent.

I tried searching "affordable mountain homes" with no luck.
