This absolutely STUNNING quilt was made for me by my beloved @missmoodybear as a congratulations for my graduation from my masters program and is a beautiful way to honor my work as a therapist with queer people. My friend, you are amazing and I love you so much ♥️ thank you for all your love and support, I couldn’t have made it through this journey without you!!

While I was making a different star quilt, I took a break to make this little lap quilt (technically it’s small enough to use as a wall hanging? But also just big enough for one lap lol).
Haven’t quilted it yet, but I plan on putting black minky on the back to keep it cozy.

Blackwater Dive
2024, hand bleached and dyed denim, cotton batting and thread
inspired by blackwater photography of plankton! this was my first time layering bleach painting. All the silhouettes were painted with bleaching gel, loosely tie dyed, and then bleached again to make the highlights. I quilted the piece using my free motion foot to outline each individual animal and tacked down the rest of the quilt with small satin stitches that remind me of marine snow. I dyed bias tape to match. super happy with this one and excited to show it in a gallery setting soon!

“In compliance with community guidelines” 2022, acrylic painting with screen printed quilt and embroidery, 50x80”

My thesis-painting this semester! I worked with two subjects of this pieces; 1) the censorship of queer and trans identities in our age of social media in part due to the anti-lgbt hate and laws passed this year and 2) the value of traditional art and artisanal mediums such as textiles ,in an increasingly digital art market, by appropriating digital iconography using entirely traditional mediums and techniques.

The quilted progress pride pillowcase is finished! Finally used all those fancy decorative stitches my sewing machine has. They are indeed very decorative. First time actually finishing a quilt and being happy with it. Yes, it's a little bubbly and wonky, but I don't care. Because it's a pillowcase, nobody would notice if it were all perfectly neat. The filling is a cobbled together bunch of floof from all the pillows my dog has torn up in the past. Don't worry, she won't get this one.
Based on my own pattern, which is in turn based on the progress pride flag design by Valentino Vecchietti.

Follow The Leader (Ant Spiral)
block printed denim, cotton batting, thread, and gifted fabric backing
thinking about natural phenomena, repetition from a single block carving, adaptive and maladaptive behaviors, and dreams from years back where my blankets turned into swarms of insects

Annnnnd here is the black background version that I did.
I love it. Desperately.
I originally had it for sale, but honestly? I don’t really want to lose it.

The quilt is almost done. I'm doing some of the sewing the bit around the edge by hand and it has safety pins on the back currently.
I've abandoned the pixel art quilt project idea and tossed that fabric into the general supply. That would have been a ton of pretty pointless work and just to reproduce an image. Instead I'm going to use normal quilting techniques to do an original design. Well, someday. I'm back to plush for the moment.
