The group judged Miguel from a distance, who was eating his lunch silently...and alone.

Lyla popped out of thin air. "Hey! It's not like I can ignore him even if I wanted to." She rolled her eyes and pointed to Miguel, "He needs some romance here. It's actually sad. Yesterday, his screen time was 23 hours that day!"

Miles scoffed, "You would think with allat screen time, that he would jump on a dating website-"

"Excuse me?"

Miles' eyes widened as he noticed a shadow behind him. "N-Nothing!"

"Right...Once you guys are done, we have a mission. So eat quickly and meet in my office."

Pavitr laughed once he and Lyla left, "How would he get bitches if everyone is scared of him!"

As soon as they finished eating, Miles, Gwen, Pavitr, and Hobie were met with a fuming Miguel, throwing different metal parts all over the room in frustration.

"Be careful guys, he isn't happy," Margo said, sucking her teeth, "He was just looking at his monitors and just started throwing stuff!"

Hobie patted her shoulder, "Yea mate, we can tell he's not the jolliest right now."

Lyla appeared in front of them and nervously chuckled, "Heyyy guys!"

Miguel slowly turned around to glare at the four Spiders. "Let's go."

Miles raised his eyebrows, "You didn't even tell us what we're supposed to-"

Miguel grabbed Miles by his suit and fumed, "You don't ask me questions."

He let Miles go, causing him to fall as Miguel grabbed his own forehead and groaned, "You know what, stay here. I'll deal with this myself."

He started walking away as the four Spiders looked at each other, stunned.

You flinched slightly as you heard the alarms go off, the screeching hurting your ears, "Damn those alarms."

You were one of Nueva York's most infamous criminals, never being caught by anyone even though the city was home to the Spider Society. That was probably your biggest flex.

You were currently walking through the rubble of the building you just exploded in order to get some stone you've been wanting. It was pretty and you saw it in an exhibition.

Plus it’s fun to get attention from what you considered your hobby; causing a wreckage of Nueva York.

You started to lean on the side of an alleyway as you played with your gold necklace, having replaced your uniform for a basic white shirt, leather jacket, and your favorite tight jeans.

“Eres una pinche pendeja. You’re a fucking IDIOT, N/n!”

You looked behind you and saw your favorite person to get attention from just a few meters away.

“Miguelito! What a pleasure to see you here!” You smiled, waving at him from afar. You mentally cheered. He didn’t have his uniform (which you have always found so sexy on him) and he had his grey turtleneck, black slacks, and some shoes you gifted him which were some retro Air Jordan 1s in black and white. You may or may not have stolen them.

You tilted your head, sensing his anger from miles away. It was amusing to witness.

“Vente pa’ca, Y/n.”

“Why don’t you make me, Miguel?”

Your teasing made him even more upset and you laughed, running swiftly towards him. You stretched your arms, gave him a hug, and stuffed your face on his chest.

“I love your sexy cologne. It smells so good, baby.”

He pulled away from your strong grip and grabbed the bridge of his nose out of frustration, “No puedo más contigo. Why did you do that?!” He said. You smiled at his upset nature and laughed.

“Babyyy, what happened to ‘Hi’ or ‘How are you’? Y tu ya sabes mi respuesta para eso.” You snickered, having your hands on your hips.

“You can’t stop? Can’t you? You’re acting like a goddamn idiot. One of these days, someone is going to catch you and it’s not going to be me,” he sneered while glaring at you.

You scoffed at him and turned your head, gazing at the destruction you caused from afar.

“Oh fuck. how could the Spider Society take this? Their so precious leader going out with me! Little ol’ me! How embarrassing,” you cried out.

“Oh yeah! Me? Spider-man? Going out with Nueva York’s most wanted? God forbid anyone finds out,” he snarled.

The two of you stared at each other before you started cackling. Even Miguel started to chuckle silently.

“M-My god! Miguel, you’re making me look like a crazy person here!” you laughed.

He rolled his eyes and smiled, “That’s ‘cause you are, N/n.”

It was quite an unexpected pairing with you two being close.

You two met at a nightclub after Lyla and Jess forced him to go in order to “loosen up”, they said.

The whole night, he couldn’t help but stare at you as you danced, in nothing but a short crop top and shorts, making your legs look long and sexy.

After mentally preparing himself, you went up to him, buying him a drink and striking conversation.

He liked that about you and how you were so confident.

You were his polar opposite.

Quite literally, after he found you out and caught you vandalizing one of Nueva York’s most famous buildings other than Spider Society headquarters.

He was a mess for the whole week to say the least.

“You know, it would be better if you joined me in a life of crime.”

You went towards him, caressing his face and gazing at his eyes.

“Just the two of us…Imagine all the fun we can have.”

He smiled as he played with your necklace, “I could think of some ways.”

Your eyes lighted up, “So you’re up for it?”

“Absolutely…Not.”

You pouted at him, “But we make such a great team. In the streets and in the shee-“

He glared at you, “I don’t want to hear you finish that sentence.”

He tilted your head upwards, using his fingers to position your chin. “Pero no creas que voy a dejar que me desobedezcas más,” he said as his thumb grazed your lips softly.

“Or what?”

His lips enveloped yours as you began to make out, him pushing you against the wall of a building in the alleyway.

“You don’t want to find out, mi amor.”

You broke from the kiss and gazed up at him. “Who says I don’t wanna find out?”

Miles and Gwen looked at Miguel from across the cafeteria, frightened, “This is kind of scary…”

Pavitr nodded, “It’s like looking at a dog walk with its hind legs.”

“Mate’s smiling while eating. SMILING! The man won’t even LAUGH but he smiles?” Hobie yelps, shaking poor Pavitr as they ravel in Miguel’s unusual behavior.

Miguel then stands up and walks towards the vending mashing in the cafeteria and the group straightens up.

Before he reaches, he stops at their table and glared at them, “What are you guys smiling about?”

Gwen chuckles, “N-Nothing! Hey Miguel, your necklace accessory thing is very-“

“NICE! IT TOTALLY SUITS YOU!” Miles interrupted, smiling ear to ear to get on Miguel’s good side.

“Weirdos..” Miguel muttered as he walked to the vending machine.

While he was pressing the numbers, he couldn’t help but smile a bit and play with his new necklace he had gotten as a gift the day prior.

Everyone in the music industry knew or had heard about Jack Harlow. He owned one of the biggest record labels of the decade and everyone wanted to be signed by him.

Unlike most artists that signed to Churchill Records, you didn’t contact them first. You were actually very unfamiliar with record labels. As a brand new artist you were simply looking forward to sharing your talent and hobby with the ones who enjoyed it just as much as you. You were familiar with Dj drama due to his girlfriend being a very close friend of yours even though she was a bit older. She even offered you to sign with drama before but you declined politely not wanting people to say you only got signed because of your connection to him. Drama didn’t take it personal and it was all good.

Up until now you were your own promoter and it was going well. You had a decent fanbase and a lot of snippets of your songs would go viral on tiktok. Your fandom was growing day by day which made it harder for you to manage on your own so maybe it was time for a label or management team. Your cousin would step in to help you a lot of the times but a more professional team was definitely necessary.

Another night, another industry party. As your publicity grew more and more, the invitations to industry parties kept piling up and you’d usually avoid going due to the anxious feeling of not fitting in but your cousin would not let up and you finally cracked, plus you could meet some people that know more about management teams. So the two of you were currently getting ready to head to a party that was bound to have multiple famous rappers, singers, producers you name it. Your cousin convinced you to go to the party about 5 days ago but you had been planning an outfit before you even agreed. You were a daydreamer, not a second of your days went by without you picturing some type of scenario or planning something that might not even take place. It was part of your character and it took you some time to accept it but once you did, you were a proud dreamer.

You were told the vibes for the party was just chill and casual with a bit of 90’s. Your mind immediately went to Aaliyah’s iconic tommy hilfiger looks. You happened to have a white tommy shirt that you wore tied in the back and some baggy light colored jeans with a red belt. You had a dark blue bucket hat and some retro red air jordan 1s. Your cousin got an uber for the two of you and once it arrived your nerves started kicking in again. Luckily your driver was a very talkative and unintentionally entertaining man. It helped take your mind off of things.

“Good evening ladies, so i’m taking you to this address right?” You checked the address he had on his GPS confirming that it was correct. “Yeah that’s it.” “Okay great, any song preferences or can I just play what I want? You guys like R&B and pop?” Your cousin turned to you and had a look of ‘This mf talk too much’ but you thought he was being nice so you simply replied “R&B and pop are perfect, go ahead.” At this point you guys already started driving and the driver’s playlist was at least 4 songs in. By the 5th song you and your cousin joined in on his terrible singing because who could avoid singing along to some sza.

After that song is over you hear a very very familiar beat. And then of course an even more familiar voice. Well.. along with your driver’s terrible singing. It was your song playing but it seems like the driver didn’t notice. You and your cousin went super quiet all of a sudden. “What’s the matter? You guys don’t like Y/N??”

You still don’t say anything so your cousin takes it upon herself to reply this time. “Nah she’s okay.” Causing you to hit her with your elbow. “Okay?! She’s great what do you mean?” “I know most people hate her cause she got famous through tiktok and all that but her voice is beautiful. And she makes her own beats i heard but im not sure. My daughters told me about her.” “Did your daughters show you what she looks like too?” You glared at your cousin for asking that question, making sure the man wasnt looking at the two of you in the back. She shrugs at you, whispering ‘What?!’ and you shake your head. “It’s funny because neither of them really know what she looks like. Isnt that weird?” “Celebrities nowadays always use their looks and post a lot of photos yet this one doesnt…i do wonder why.” You awkwardly let out a fake laugh “Heh…yeah i wonder why” Did i mention that most people aren’t sure what you look like? As i mentioned before you were still not really in the public eye. All your promotions were done by you and you were not the biggest fan of taking photos. A lot of your posts were just beats you were working on and random stuff like that.

Luckily you had reached your destination and you pushed your cousin out of the uber as fast as you could, not forgetting to thank the driver for doing a great job. He waved happily telling the two of you to have a good night and drove away.

Walking into the party you immediately started looking for Steph and Drama so you could have some familiarity. Once you found them your cousin dipped and you had no idea where she went, probably somewhere near the bar. Luckily for you, you spotted drama pretty quickly due to his height and if he was there then Steph was most definitely with him.

At least an hour had gone by and your social battery was declining fairly quickly. You excuse yourself to the bathroom to catch a breather from the stuffy vip area. Once you came back there was a tall white guy with big fluffy curls sitting near your spot conversing with drama.

JACK’S POV

I was talking to drama but in all honesty not everything was clicking. I definitely had a few drinks in my system but I still feel pretty present. I feel the spot next to me on the couch dip so I turn to see who it is. I know I just said i had some drinks in me but there might be a chance those drinks just sent me to heaven. This girl is so beautiful. I can admit i’ve been with multiple women and beautiful is not a word I use to describe them often. Pretty? yes. Fine, Bad, Sexy? of course. But this girl was beautiful. Drama continued talking to me but I was more focused her and Steph’s conversation than my own.

Without meaning to be disrespectful i cut drama off to ask him more about her. Yes, she was sitting right next to me but all her focus was on her conversation with Steph plus the music was loud. “What’s her name?”

“That’s y/n, new and upcoming I think she’d be a great addition to your label.”

I didn’t know she could sing but she’d be a good addition regardless looking like that.

I knew I had to make her mine and I wasn’t just talking about as an artist.

I've been invited to a tabletop game of classic (read: stupid retro pretentious) Vampire, the Dark Ages 1e version, and the rulebook is fascinatingly terribly designed as though the chapter writers didn't talk to each other after the outline.

In Chapter Two, on Vampire Society in the Dark Ages, it says that vampires sometimes practice Ordeal By Fire - the accused is required to run a gauntlet of vampires hitting him with lit torches.

Throughout the book, the fluff will frequently mention Rötschreck, the deep fear of fire and sunlight common to all vampires. These things may kill a vampire outright where mere blades will not, which gives one a vague sense that this ordeal is extra nasty for vamps.

In Chapter Seven, on Systems and Mechanics, we get the specifics on how Rötschreck works. When a vampire encounters an open flame, for example a lit torch, he has to roll a Difficulty 6 Courage check. On a success, he can bear the presence of the flame for a few turns (a turn is 3 seconds) before having to roll again. On a failure, he panics uncontrollably and runs away.

Vampires are incapable of organizing an Ordeal By Fire as written because they'd inevitably panic from holding torches. What on Earth were the devs thinking?

(Being burned is diff 8, for the poor sod being hit with torches.)

Worse: Given the above, you'd expect that seeing in the dark really, really should be a default vampire power. It isn't. It's an ability of the Protean Discipline of vampire superpowers that you buy with XP.

Even worse: Each of the 13 Vampire Clans starts with access to 3 of the 16 Disciplines. These are unevenly distributed. Only the Gangrel Clan teaches Protean. (Technically also clanless, but that comes with severe drawbacks.) The book is kinda vague on how much effort and favors it may take to get a Gangrel to teach you this if you're from a different Clan.

Even worser: If the Courage check is severely failed (a botch), the vampire gains a mental derangement, terrified by the fire.

Worcestershire: Due to the nature of rolls in this system, where 1s on the d10s subtract successes, a vampire with maxed-out Courage stat still botches 2% of the time. Courage rolls for Rötschreck happen frequently: torch in close proximity, Difficulty 6. Obscured sunlight or bonfire, Diff 7. Open sunlight or being burned, Diff 8.

I reiterate: this is a game set in the Dark Ages, pre-electricity, and where "see in darkness" is not a default power. One wonders how vampires are supposed to exist for more than a few years without becoming gibbering lunatics.

My guess is that it's the usual White Wolf bad habit of behaving as though characters borderline cease to exist offscreen, and rules don't apply during downtime. Vampires only panic if they encounter fire when the metaphorical camera is on them. Sunlight is only terrifying if you have the GM's attention. Rötschreck is a punishment for the hubris of being a player character.

feels edgy and cool- buying into this idea that the ideal is to be trendy and youthful.

Overall, from looking at how some of the biggest Gen Z brands are selling their products, it was easy to detect themes amongst them. Although the marketing isn't as stereotypical as it was in the past, the ideals being presented have just been re-packaged to appear more ‘unique’ and ‘edgy’. Carrying the same messaging, the female Gen Z audience is still seeing these conventionally stunning standards through influencers and models. This ‘dreamy’ aesthetic of lilacs, blues, pastels and clouds is really current and popular, which i find plays into this idealistic notion. Alongside this, the use of vibrant colours, patterns and vintage visuals is also really popular amongst these campaigns. 

The key themes shown are clothing, appearance, popularity, and appearing ‘cool’- which i find all play into this societal role of being ‘perfect’. I think this gives me a good indication on what to focus on- as these topics are all very current amongst the gen z female audience- leading to comparison, and the need to ‘fit’ this societal demand.
