The past two years, despite their ups and downs, have given me a good opportunity to improve my art. This piece is, in some ways, a culmination of what I’ve learned so far.

I’m slowly moving away from black lineart, or just lineart in general. I find that it looks much better that way. Happy to see that my backgrounds are improving as well :)

😅 Oooh erm…I gotta pick between my between my babies! These are presented in no particular order:

1. Remind Me of Us 18+ - I think it’s the fic that I’m happiest with from every angle. I love the dynamic between Echo and reader, and how down bad they are for each other. It feels intimate, and that’s the vibe I was shooting for!

2. Kiss and Tell Them You’re Mine 18+ - I wrote exactly one (1) fic for Dogma before this one, so I don’t know where I got the confidence to shoot for the moon on this but I love it! I want Dogma to have soft, sweet & spicy things, and what could be sweeter than having your love in your arms in the sun?

3. Absence//Fonder - Crosshair pining for reader, denying it, and getting caught in 4k by Wrecker ? I love it. The soft, intimate relationship they’ve developed before any feelings are even shared? I will flip this table. I could hear their voices saying every line of dialogue clear as day, and that made me unbelievably happy.

4. In Pieces 18+ - (Ch. 1) I could talk about this fic, and prequels for this fic all day and never tire of it. F*ck it, this is my favorite. 7k words of “I wanted to read this so I’ve gotta write it” indulgence 😅 The response to it has really blown me away, and if you’ve read it and wanna talk about it, please believe I want talk about it too! And Reader’s friendship with the 501st boys? 🥰😌😎 I think I just love shenanigans and smut. I can be honest about that 😅

5. Discovering A Common Interest - This was the first time I wrote about Echo closer to the beginning of his days with CF99, and I touched on the stress of trying to step back into your old life when things have changed. Reader is also tackling the growing pains of picking up where they left off with Echo, and 🥺 I just love how it turned out.

hello! it IS kinktober 🥳 i've done a few so far and if everything goes to plan i should have a few more coming up. i went through a little dip and the momentum i had going disappeared. but, i'm going to try!

Dean/Castiel. 18.6k. Mature. No Archive warnings apply. Red letter day: A particularly significant day; usually used to refer to a memorably important or happy occasion. Dean proposes to Castiel, and they plan a small ceremony with a big reception. From the first look to the first dance, and from a public emotional speech to a private one, their summer wedding is a red letter day. A sequel to Hidden Things (canon divergent from 13x22) that can be read as a standalone. Read it on AO3.

“I love our home,” Dean murmurs. “I love you.”

Castiel feels a rush of tenderness, and his wings twitch with the desire to encircle Dean. “I love you, too.”

Dean lifts his head and props himself up on an elbow, looking down at Castiel. Castiel searches his face for any sign of the burden he’s been carrying, but Dean lowers his lips to Castiel’s for a long, unhurried kiss.

When Dean pulls away, opening his eyes, Castiel finds some indefinable reservation there, the barest hint of strain in his slight smile.

He’s leaning down to kiss him again when Castiel says, “Dean.”

Dean nuzzles Castiel. “Don’t get all serious on me now, Cas.” There’s a smile in his voice. “I’m trying to make out with you, here.”

Castiel pulls himself into a sitting position and Dean sits up, too, frowning.

Castiel takes Dean’s hand. “I’m worried about you,” he says. “You haven’t seemed like yourself, since you got back from South Carolina.” Dean looks away, like he’s been caught. Castiel squeezes his hand and waits for Dean to speak.

Dean meets Castiel’s eyes, smiling a little, and squeezes his hand back. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you worry.”

“It’s alright,” Castiel says. “Are you alright?”

“Yeah.” Dean nods. “I am. And we can talk about South Carolina in a second. But first I…” He breaks off, draws a breath, and says, “I need to ask you something.”

“Of course, Dean. Anything.”

"Focus, Aryn."

The lanterns in the temple gardens paint the potted plants and the steep, angular walls of the courtyard a warm orange, which is in stark contrast with the deep blue of the evening sky. Like master and padawan, the light wrestles with the dark - Aryn tries to read her master's mind, Ven tries to resist her.

Aryn - despite her young age - is all talent and concentration, brows furrowed, eyes squeezed shut, lips set in a tight line. She's a prodigy, and of course that means teaching her comes with equally intricate challenges. And yet Ven is proud, prouder than he's ever been of a student, and he wonders if she can sense that, that despite the setbacks, the hardships, the failures, she is still the greatest thing he's had the privilege to help create. As she's scratching at the door of his consciousness, yet again failing to read her master's mind (not like she's ever had a chance, but the lesson here is persistence anyways) he's thrown off balance when the little girl sticks out her tongue in concentration, and suddenly there's another feeling beside pride now that swells in his heart, rearing to give in to Aryn's will prodding his mind - tenderness. He's never particularly wanted a family, or a child, but then again he never had the luxury to entertain such fancies.

And now there's this child, and he calls himself master. But in his mind, he calls himself father too. However, Aryn doesn't need to know. And he's not ready for her to know either.

...

When the temple burns, and the flames rage against the starless abyss of the night sky many years later, Ven welcomes Aryn into his mind one last time. And amidst all the warnings of a dying master about the Empire and Darth Malgus, Aryn also finds tender thoughts fading fast.

A father's goodbye.

I gotta say I'm surprised (though I probably shouldn't be 🙄) at some of the backlash I've seen towards Grace for being upset.

Like, she very clearly says she knows it's not fair to any of them and she knows she shouldn't be upset because her and Judd weren't together then, but she communicates that she IS upset. Which is totally valid because everything they BOTH knew about their lives just got upended.

And she was so cordial to Wyatt, and left before causing a scene or lashing out at Judd at his place of work and after she has some time to process, she makes an effort to do what she thinks is right.

And for Judd's part, he didn't sit on the info for a month until he had a confirmed paternity test and THEN bring it up to Grace, he was upfront with her (mostly) from the start. And when she says she's angry, he validates her feelings and lets her know it's okay to be upset, and he gives her some space when she needs it. And when she chooses to invite the other lady over so they can talk, he is supportive and reaffirms how much he loves her.

Like, I'm not thrilled that this is the storyline they're doing, especially without a single week for them to enjoy being new parents, but neither Wyatt nor his mom came in with the intention to wreck a family, Judd and Grace both handled the situation incredibly well and communicated in a mostly healthy way, and I'm definitely not hating this as much as I could if it wasn't written as well as it has been so far.

It's okay to feel your feelings even if they aren't always rational, and Grace communicated so well that she knew it wasn't entirely rational but she was upset and Judd allowed her the space to be angry and work through those feelings instead of her suppressing them and exploding later.

Judd and Grace have one of the most solid relationships I've ever been blessed to see on TV and I find it interesting how 911 and Lone Star like to throw out these really big, dramatic, soapy storylines that are so common in dramatic show, but have the characters respond in very normal, human ways and have a less dramatic but more realistic and enjoyable resolution. Instead of huge cheating storylines where it's harder to root for the characters coming back together, you get things like this with Grace and Judd, or Bobby and Athena where she doesn't even consider that he's cheating but knows he's hiding something and digs until she finds out he's sponsoring someone and it leads to a discussion about their marriage and their future and they work it out. And same with the TK/Carlos breakup. These moments where there is no bad guy, just humans trying their best and not always doing the right thing but trying to be better is something 911-verse does so well and what really sets it apart from other shows. And I'll take that ANY day over every character playing musical beds, and being killed off half the time so you can't get invested in any character or relationship.

"It's not the Buddie show" okay its not the Madney show either but it's still fucking disappointing that we haven't gotten to see their things happen on screen either. People aren't upset because every single episode doesn't fully revolve around Buddie to the exclusion of everything else, they're upset because SEVERAL well-established dynamics have been almost entirely cut and replaced with dynamics that aren't given us any weight or character information/growth/pushing arcs along etc.
