Sleepy bunnies
Vil x rabbit! Male reader
Fluff, cute
🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑
Vil was surprised to see a cotton tail bunny on his bed, stretched out and sleeping, little feets twitching ever so slightly as it dreamed a silly little dream. The bunny in question was (name), he was in Heartslabyul and the most reclusive of the dorm, too nervous to talk to others and could barely get a peep out during class time.
So why was he here?
Crouching before the little bunny, he gently pet the other and silently remarked at how soft he was, smiling when the others tail wiggled subconsciously "wake up little rabbit" he said poking them others nose gently, chuckling when the bunny tried hiding his face "it's quite rude to sleep in someone else's room and not even greet the host" he teased and watched as an eye cracked open and before his eyes the other transformed, now noticing that the other rhad the courtesy of taking his shoes off before entering his room.
How precious.
"I'm sorry, my dorms so loud... Only quiet place..." He whispered, so shy and nervous that Vil was getting cute aggression from this, he had always kept an eye on (name) and his precious nature-- how couldn't he?
He was by far the cutest member of Heartslabyul, Vil wanted to keep him forever!
"Well little rabbit, you're welcome to seek refuge here... For a price"
(Name) tilted his head confused, letting Vil tilt his head and look at him closely "not bad... Skins a little dry..." It was like he was taking mental notes about him "I can work with this" he said pulling (name) up and walking to his vanity, sitting the bunny on the chair and got to work "you can stay in my room so long as you let me dress you up and such" Vil said simply as he began a skincare routine on the bunny who tilted his head slightly but Vil noticed his tail was wagging happily "I see we have a deal then little rabbit"
So it became routine, (name) got to nap after classes (as long as he got any projects done) and Vil dressed him up and used him as a doll.
Vil smiled at (name) who snuggled between his pillows, he almost looked like a doll if it wasn't for the twitches so often, (name) had grown quite comfortable with Vil over the months, actually staying in his non rabbit form around him and even sleeping in it.
He looked so sweet, Vil gently traced his cheek longingly before kissing his forehead "maybe next time my little sweet potato... I'll confess my love to you"
Vil wouldn't deny the past few months that he had fallen for the pretty bunny who looked so happy when Vil would give him bites of his salad, careful to avoid any meats that could be in it.
He learned all he could about (name) and his likes and dislikes and (name) looked at him with so much admiration and trust-- god he wanted to kiss him!
"I love you too" a soft voice spoke, (name) barely clinging to reality, snuggled into Vils side "warm.." he grumbled before shifting into bunny form and curling in the blondes lap.
Vil just smiled and pet his little boyfriend, he was so silly.

"Wish I didn't have to go back to work," Andy tucks his shirt in as he enters the kitchen, "mmm, something smells good."
"Oh, I found the waffle maker," you say proudly. Admittedly, you've made a mess. Your tablet displays the recipe as a bowl sits next to it dripping batter. "I thought it would be a nice start to the day."
"How long have you been awake?" His expression falls, "dove, you've been... very busy lately. I'm worried."
"Why?" You bat your lashes. Yes, you've been a bit all over, always trying to distract yourself. It helps you keep your mind off of the cramped nights and sleepless hours. "Dr. Kemp wants me to set goals."
"Yes, I know. And it's good advice but you can take a day off," he suggests.
"Maybe," you shrug and hide your disappointment. You thought he'd be happy. You're doing what he wants too. He wants you to give back and you're trying to take care of him the best way you know how. You've never tried this hard in your life but he doesn't seem to see that.
"Here," you turn and take a plate of waffles, "I also cut up some fruit," you put it on the island near him and grab the bowl of strawberries and blueberries, "and syrup."
You bring the bottle of dark maple and a set of cutlery for him. He sits on one of the high chairs and accepts them with a thanks. Despite his admonishment, he looks delights. You step back on your heel and watch him. As he cuts into the fluffy stack, he pauses and looks at you.
"What about you?"
"Oh, I'll eat when you're gone," you assure him, "I'm not hungry yet."
He inhales and takes his first bite. He chews it slowly, his thought tensing in his jaw, "promise you will. Dove... I see you pushing your food around."
"I don't have a problem," you say defensively. He doesn't know how you used to be. How you would binge so much you nearly puked. So you miss a meal or two, it's better than the alternative.
"I think it's something you should discuss in therapy? Just to be certain," he offers.
"It's not," you insist. "I'm fine--"
"Then sit down and eat with me. That's what couples do. They eat together," he points his fork at you, "and don't forget a kiss before I go."
You watch him for a moment. You don't tell Steve about these arguments, you only tell him what you learn. What you're doing to be better. You'll tell him you know now that you should eat with Andy and give him a kiss goodbye. That's something, you suppose.
"I'm sorry, Andy," you murmur and put a waffle on a plate for yourself.
"Don't be sorry, just do better, honey," he says.
"Alright," you turn back to him as you grab a fork and knife. You go around the island to sit next to him. You poke at the waffle and cut off a small piece.
"And... you can call me honey, too. Would you?"
You nod, "okay..." you hover the fork in front of your mouth as your stomach mulches, "honey."
🕊️
You spend much of the day painting. Your attempts at napping were met with tossing and turning as your mind kept wandering to the nights ahead and those behind you. Andy's touches aren't as unusual as before, you can lay still, close your eyes, let him kiss you. But he doesn't like it when you stop him from doing more.
Your back aches as you hunch forward on the stool. You know it's a bad position but you don't care. You lean in, nose almost touching the canvas as you focus on a feather.
You yawn and swipe the brush against your palette. You sway slightly, eyes nearly rolling back. You should try to nap before–
"How's it going, Dove?" Andy startles you as his shadow fills the door.
You turn, shivering in the airy garage as you lower the brush. You blink at him, for a moment thinking he might be a walking dream. You shake your head, no he's real and times slipped past you again.
You set down your palette and hug yourself. It's as if the day was a fog and it's only just clearing. You give a sheepish smile as Andy stays at the top of the steps.
"Tired?" He says, "oh, wow, you got a lot done."
"Yeah, uh… a lot," you agree hoarsely.
"Come on, you're asleep on your feet, sit down. I was thinking of ordering some pizza. I've been craving it," he beckons to you. You're glad he's in a good mood.
"Alright, I'll just clean up," you turn and rinse off your brush, "see ya inside."
"I can do that–"
"No, no, I'm… a bit particular about my brushes," you mutter, "I'll be in soon…honey."
"Alright, don't make me come find you," he kids as he backs up.
You're thankful he's appeased. You're too exhausted for him to be smothering you again. You just want to zone out.
You clean your brushes and palette off and place them away neatly. You rub your hands together as you climb the two steps inside and close the door behind you. As you pass the kitchen, Andy calls after you.
"Hey," you enter as he twists a knob on the stove.
"Making you some tea," he says, "you look cold. Why didn't you turn on the heater?"
"Didn't think of it," you drag your feet, legs heavy, "tea sounds nice."
"Some of that stuff Steve brought," he sniffs and gives a shrug, "you really seemed to like it."
"Sounds good," you lean on the counter and cup your chin.
"You can have it while we decide on toppings," he smiles, "you like pineapple on your pizza?"
"I'm not picky," you answer.
"I'm asking what you like, sweetie."
"Just cheese," you reply, "sorry."
"Don't be sorry," he comes around the island and cradles your head along the side, bending to kiss your crown, "go, relax, I'll bring the tea out to you."
"Thank you," you sidle away slowly.
You go into the living room and nestle into the corner of the couch, hugging your legs as you try to warm up. You watch the window, the grey sky dimming with the onset of the autumnal evening. You lean your head back and groan.
When Andy comes in, he plunks your cup down and sits heavily next to you. You look at him as he grabs the remote.
"Why don't you put something on?" He holds it out to you.
"Um, is there a game tonight?" You wonder.
"Don't worry about it. I'm not in the mood."
"Oh, alright," you take the remote and flip on the tv.
"Whatever you want," he leans back, one arm across the couch above you as he keeps his phone in his other.
You browse the television shows, thinking of trying something new. Your eyes drift thoughtlessly as he thumbs at the screen. He hums, "just cheese?"
"Yeah, that's good."
"Alright, I want you to finish two slices at least," he says.
You frown but don't argue. You don't appreciate his concern for your eating habits. Pizza is a lot and greasy. You reach for your tea and continue to search through titles.
You hear a bing and glance over again, certain not to move your head. You see the notification just before Andy swipes it away from the top of the screen. 'Cloud recordings full.'
You don't think anything of it. You don't know what that means. You click on a show you always saw Amber watching.
"Good choice," he says as he puts his phone down, "all ordered. With garlic knots too."
"Mm, sounds good," you blow on the tea, the smell of maple comforting, "thank you… er, honey."
"Of course," he kisses your head again as he drops his arm onto your shoulders, "the tea will help tide you over until it gets here."
🕊️
The pizza comes as the drowsiness tugs at your eyes. You feel sluggish as Andy brings you a plate with two slices. You chew as you stare at the bleary television, the audio garbling as you struggle to down each bite.
You finish with a painfully full stomach. Andy clears your plate with his and says something you don't catch. You feel so out of it. You've never felt like this before.
Andy comes back with two bottles of beer uncapped. You squint at him, sure you're seeing double. It must be the lack of sleep.
"Here," he holds one out as he sits next to you.
"Oh, I don't…" you eke out.
"One won't hurt, sweetie," he winks, "it's already open."
You rub your eyes before reaching out to take one. It's cold and the glass condensates beneath your palm. You sniff the open neck and make a face. It smells awful.
"Taste better than it looks," he clinks his bottle against yours.
You open your eyes wide, fighting the weight around them. You lean the bottle against your lips and make yourself take a drink. As much as you want to spit it out, you choke down the wheaty acidic liquid.
"You get used to it," he chuckles and takes a hearty swig.
"Mmm," you grumble, "I am very tired…"
"You go to bed early every night," he rests his hand on your knee, "worked all day just looking forward to being with you, honey."
You frown and nod, taking another repulsive gulp. It's nasty but you don't want to waste it. And you don't want him to be upset. Again.
"Finish your beer and you can go lay down," he says, "okay, sweetie."
"Alright," you look at the bottle, a tall task as each taste is worse than the last. "Thank you."
He keeps his hand on your leg. You notice how it slips higher along your thigh as you sip. You feel your body slackening and the sludgy fatigue turns to a bubbly blare.
You focus on the bottle, just wanting to go to bed. You empty it down to a small cluster of foam and sit forward to put it on the table. You miss and the bottle clanks on the floor. Andy chuckles and reaches to pick it up, setting it down with his own.
“Oh, honey,” he turns to you, “are you tipsy already?”
“Andy,” you breathe, “I don’t feel good.”
“You drank that too fast,” he laughs again, pushing his arm behind you, “here, I got you, baby.”
You close your eyes as he swoops his other arm under your knees and the whole world shifts as he lifts you. Your head lolls against his shoulder as he holds you against his chest. His scent seeps into your nostrils as the motions of his gait lulls you.
He climbs the stairs carefully as you lean into him. Your head swirls strangely. You’ve never felt like this. Your eyeballs feel funny and your stomach is airy.
You open your eyes again as he enters the bedroom. He tuts, amused by your state as he lays you on his bed. He hushes you as you babble dumbly.
“I’ll get you some pajamas, just relax,” he coos, dragging his hand down your side and kneading your thigh.
He leaves you as you obey him. Not out of your will, but because you have no choice. You can’t fight this eerie heaviness. The sludge of time and space that smothers you.
He returns, a blurry smear of colours as he moves around the room. He tosses something light beside you and bends over you. He runs his hands from your hips and around your back as he sits you up. You bobble as you struggle to hold your head up.
“Here,” he tugs on your shirt, bringing it up your torso.
Instinctively you catch it and try to keep him from revealing anymore. He clucks and yanks until you nearly fall back. You drop your hands to keep yourself up.
“Honey, I’m helping, don’t be bad,” he warns as he continues to raise the fabric, “arms up. I got you a fresh set of pajamas.”
Your lashes droop down and cling to each other. You shakily raise your arms and he pulls your shirt off. He gulps loudly and his fingers flutter along your shoulders and down to your chest. He cups your tits and purrs.
“Sweetie, I… never got to say before but you’re so beautiful, you know that?”
You shoo his touch away and cross your arms. He sighs heavily and grips your hips. He pulls you down harshly so you land flat on your back. You squeak in surprise as you bounces against the bed.
He pops open the button of your jeans and curls his fingers beneath the denim. He rolls them down roughly, jolting you as he gets them past your feet. You shiver as you lay in only your underwear and bra, hugging yourself.
“Mmmm,” he sits beside you again, leaning over you as he plants his hand by your other side, “honey,” he runs his other hand down your arm and takes yours, moving it into his lap, “do you feel what you do to me?”
He presses your hand to the bulge in his pants. Your head turns side to side as your voice sticks in your throat. The flavour of the beer stains your tongue and chokes you. He bends closer and kisses you on the lips.
“I need you so bad,” he whispers as he pulls away, “but… I want you to feel it.”
He moves your hand off of him and shifts, dragging his other hand away from the bed and down the curves of your side. He trails kisses down your jaw and neck, further and further, lingering around your chest as he guides the straps of your bra down your arms.
He looses your tits and tends to them one at a time. Nipping, kneading, and suckling until your nipples are sensitive and hard. His lets his hand wander further down as he dotes on your chest, slipping his fingers beneath he elastic of your panties.
He lifts his head and exhales a scalding breath over you, “can I taste you? I need to taste you…”
“What?” You murmur as your head slumps to one side and your eyes shut, fuzzy and itchy.
You feel the bed jostle as his weight lifts and his touch drifts away. He urges your legs apart before he settles between them, the bed moving with him. Your panties roll down your legs and he bends your knees. You whine, confused about what he’s doing.
He growls and you feel his breath along your thigh. You twitch as he spreads his hands across your flesh and holds your legs open. Something cool delves into the warmth between your legs. You yelp as your eyes snap open.
You lift your head as it teeters on your neck and you see the top of Andy’s head by your pelvis. He runs his hands around your thighs, gripping the outside and pushing them flush to his face as he laps at your cunt. You whimper as you fall flat again, hiding behind your eyelids as the vision of him paints the void of your speckly mind.
What is he doing?

Boss Fight
WC: 837 Not-quite-angst, mostly fluff, Levi being a good big brother
It was unusual for the twins to fight. Belphie hated to see Beel upset, and Beel was not often one to let things get to him- with any of his brothers, really, but his beloved twin least of all. Most of their disagreements were about sleeping arrangements or snacks under the bed, and most were often solved by one letting the other indulge in their sin until the itch had been scratched enough for civility to return.
It was unusual for Levi to meddle in the affairs of his brothers. Outside of chasing Mammon down for the debts he owed, the third eldest often viewed himself as the recluse of the family. His self-doubt convincing him that he was an outsider anyway, with his weird hobbies and even stranger sleep schedule.
Yet for some reason, on the rare occasion that the twins actually fought, Levi was always the best mediator between them. Lucifer was always too stern, far used to wrangling the more active troublemakers Mammon to be able to listen without giving advice. Mammon was a decent listener when it came to his little brothers, but wasn’t a particularly strong sorter for the solution. He had his own problems expressing his feelings, after all. Asmo was often too concerned on making the parties feel physically better. Satan’s advice was almost always some form of ‘get over it’. Not out of cruelty or a lack of love, of course, simply out of his own experience.
Levi, however… Levi never failed. Which was how Beel once again found himself knocking at his brother’s door.
“Only those who can answer which TSL book the side character ‘Zyere’ appeared in may enter!”
How niche or complicated the password was signaled how comfortable with interaction Levi was feeling. This was particularly niche. Beel hesitated before he opened the door anyway.
“I don’t know.”
“Then WHY did you COME IN?!” Levi pulled off his headset and slammed it on the desk, only to soften in an instant when he met violet eyes and realized what must have happened.
Pushing back from his desk and stretching while the chair spun slowly out towards Beel, Levi slumped back into it with a heavy sigh.
“It’s book four. Zyere is the eldest princess of a small nation that the Lord of Masks seeks out for an alliance because of the strategic borders that Princess Zyere shared with the Lord of Corruption.”
Beel nodded, coming to sit down on the floor next to Levi’s chair. Levi pulled the lever under the seat until it was all the way down, letting Beel rest his head on the armrest while he pulled out his phone and got up the TSL wiki.
“It was really controversial casting in the show, though. Princess Zyere is initially described with thick, curly hair, and black eyes that the Lord of Masks said ‘he could see more of himself than her in their reflection’. The actress, however, ended up having blue eyes, almost the same color as the actor for the Lord of Masks. The forum drama lasted months. I wasn’t happy, but-”
“Belphie yelled at me after I apologized for eating his pillow.” Beel knew the only way he’d get a chance to speak was if he interrupted. Not that Levi minded, since he’d talk about his favorite series for hours if that’s how long Beel needed. “I was napping on his bed and I dreamed of eating cotton candy. Then I woke up and saw scraps of his pillow. I said sorry. He was still mad. So I went to the gym.”
“And now he’s mad that you’re ignoring him, huh?”
Beel nodded.
“Were you?”
“A little.”
Beel watched Levi tap open Akuzon, going to his ‘favorites’ list. Among the typical Ruri-chan and TSL merch was Belphie’s pillow. 1-tap buy. He tapped open messages, clicking Belphie’s name. We need another player for this boss. Come down to my room ASAP! I’m counting on you!
“What boss?” Lifting up his head from the armrest, Beel’s brows scrunched in confusion as he looked at Levi.
Still slumped over in the chair with his legs spread out long in front of him, Levi shrugged. “There was an update to one of my multi-player games. We should have five people for it, but I’m over-leveled anyway. I can carry you two. It’s the game we played a while back, remember?”
“The one with the floating soup shop?”
“Yeah. It’s an inn though, not just a soup shop.”
“I liked that one.”
Levi nodded, lightly hitting Beel’s head to move it far enough out of the way that he could get his hands on the armrests and his feet under him, sitting up straight before standing and going to start up the console and pull the pillows out of his tub to set up for company. He knew Belphie would take a while to come down, but Levi also knew the youngest would fall asleep once they started playing. Then, things would be normal again.

Dude I got my first corporate review the other day after like... a year of working as an intern & a few months of fulltime & my boss said I'm good at working as part of a team & productive beyond the bare minimum & doing above-expected-quality shit and I Litcherally Could Not Believe It. Like the ADHD or the Whatever Undxed Stuff is so bad I feel like I spend more time spacing out than actually working. On my work from home days I spend half the time w/ food prep or naps & the naps only happen bc I'm so exhausted I'd just be falling asleep in my chair. Which has also happened at the office a couple times. I was SURE I'd get roasted for productivity or communication issues but apparently I'm doing 92.8% fine? Communication was the one thing brought up bc I do lurk in groupchat a lot (it's a small team of 6 so most coordination happens in whatsapp but most of it is abt events which I 99.9% of the time have nothing 2 do with so I get overwhelmed and shut off notifs for 1hr sometimes. And there's a lot of emails that are also 99% of the time not actionable 4 me so I also have trouble staying on top of those).
But uhhh yeah I'm apparently Decent At My Corpojob??????? Who'dathunkit
Like I was Terrified of screwing up bc I'd never had a stable proper Job before this. I was completely convinced I didn't have the CV to land one let alone the stamina to keep it and like. I wouldn't be able to cope with a Normal 9-to-5 like if I had to come into the office daily I prolly wouldn't make it. But because of COVID they switched to hybrid model & they don't mind me going radio silent for longass stretches of time as long as I come up w/ deliverables. And one woman who started a few months after me came up with a system to log all the graphics I need to make that lets me reference all the info in a single doc w/o going back & forth via email w/ anyone like at the start which has been a Fucking Godsend.
So????
And the pay covers most of my partner and I's expenses. Like we're still not ready to rent a non-humid non-Recluse-infested non-isolated place near or in downtown but. It doesn't seem completely out of reach in a few years anymore since I got this thing solidified & they started working again (gig style but with a base salary? So there's a low fixed income w higher bursts we can use for buying key shit like uhhh our first Vehicle even if it's scary & two-wheeled 4 now. I'm also campaigning for one of those air fryer / rice maker / pressure cooker combo insane machine things to compensate our notorious lack of oven)

Fellas,,, I've made a grave mistake.
For years whenever someone asked what to get me as a gift, I said fluffy blanket. It was practical, while still personal. I thought, as what I've learned to be wrongly, that you could never have too much fluffy blanket.
The chair needs one, the couch needs one, the nap spot on the floor needs two, I can segment my bed into multiple different fluffy blanket density spots to allow for maximum comfy.
It was fine, it worked, because I had very few friends. There was a max of 4 people who would ever gift me anything, half didn't celebrate Christmas and the other half didn't celebrate birthdays. A match made in heaven where I'd get a max of 4 blankets a year. Usually it was one or two.
Now that most people are pretending covid no longer exists, I have quite a few friends. This is a terrible development. Since many more people have the social skills of a reclusive worm, that being my baseline is now an advantage.
Let me reiterate, this is not a good thing.
Because, this year I received many gifts. At least more than usual. Due to not knowing most of these people very long, they went with my suggestion of fluffy blanket.
I did not see the problem. I did not understand my position.
This is my repent, my repent for my sin of ignorance.
Because now, I have 20 blankets. 13 of which are upon my bed. Many of different sizes, textures, and cleaning styles. I have two weighted blankets now. I do not need two weighted blankets.
I do not want two weighted blankets. I have not reached that level of mental illness yet.
What led me to the knowledge of my mistakes?
I decided to clean all of the bed blankets in a sitting. Previously I would have two bed sets that I'd switch between, cleaning one when the other was in use. Lately I've been in pain, and thus in bed, so I used all 13.
It is, at time of writing, 1:46am. I started this task at 3pm yesterday. There is still more left. I've been doing laundry for the past ten hours. I am tired. I want to sleep.
I occasionally look up from my phone at the washer from my throne of freshly washed sheets. It's still going. Only 30 more minutes. I look to the drier, only 40 more minutes. I can do this.
A single tear falls down my cheek, I no longer know if I am real. I might be a blanket for all I know.
I've come to accept that I will live and die in this laundry room.

Attack Of The Winter Wolf: Revealed
Summary- 7.7k Alpha Steve x Little One Reader. Steve and you pack up in the Stark Jet and head across the ocean, this time to Norway. Steve seems to think that there will be the answers needed to help your friends for good. Divider made by @firefly-graphics
Warnings- None
A/N- Those that have stuck with me through this, thank you. I hope this isn’t turning into a “what the hell are you trying to do Amber” kind of deal. Haha. I don’t have any real answers, its just whats coming out. Anyways, thank you for reading, as always its so appreciated to hear what your thoughts are on it. Happy Howling 🐺💙
Chapter Three / Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a rush the following morning, Steve and Tony were busy checking over the jet being loaned for the mission. Meanwhile Pepper showed you around the giant Stark Towers. The last time you had been here you were unconscious, not remembering any of it. Pepper’s heels clicking against linoleum, while you rushed after the fast paced Alpha who was doing two tasks at once. But once she led you on the elevator, hitting some buttons, she tucked her tablet under her arm, turning her attention to you with a relaxed smile.
“Dr. Banner has been wanting to officially meet you.” She stated as an explanation for the elevator ride. Twiddling your fingers, you shuffled foot to foot a bit nervous, only knowing the doctor had been where Steve rushed you to first when Pierce injected you.
When the elevator door dinged and the two of you stepped out to what looked like a medical wing. A dark haired man stepped out while flipping through a chart muttering to himself when Pepper cleared her throat. “Bruce, you have a visitor.” His head lifted, blinking at them from over his glasses frames, confused as to who would want to intrude on him. But then recognition crossed his features and he snapped his clipboard shut, striding over.
“Y/N! Pepper told me Steve was coming back this way for help, and I was hoping he would bring you.” His hand popped out to shake yours. You welcomed it with a tilt of your head, drawing in his scent. A part of you recognized him, the hint of warmth and freshness.
“ Dr.Banner a pleasure… Steve told me what you had done for me, thank you for everything.”
Bruce sputtered a bit, giving a shrug. “Ahh, I wasn’t able to do much, just send you along to someone better able to handle what happened to you. Umm, do you have a few minutes? I just really would like to ask you a few questions about your experience. If you are okay with that of course.” He added almost shyly and you smiled reassuringly.
“I have no problem with that Dr.Banner.”
“Bruce please.” Bruce looked expectantly at Pepper who checked her watch and nodded.
“We got time, Tony will have Friday call for us when the jet is ready.” Bruce immediately turned on his heels and led the two of you towards his office.
Tumblr media
Steve went through the jet, checking all the gear stashed on board as well as settling in the controls chair to make sure he was familiar with everything before leaving Stark towers. Tony plopped in the one next to him, making the Alpha in Steve rumble at the intrusion but Steve was able to placate him.
“So off to Norway huh?” Tony leaned forward to enter the coordinates in the dash for the autopilot. “What's in Norway that can help you with everything?”
Steve growled as he continued going over the controls. “You saw the file Fury sent along Stark. You know exactly who is there.”
“Okay you got me.” Tony finished what he was doing and turned the chair to face Steve. “I also know he's basically a recluse now and the chance of you getting him to talk is almost nada, zip, zilch. What makes you think he's gonna spill what you need.”
“I have my ways…” Steve said coldly, his wolf growling softly at the other Alpha in his space.
Tony gave a mock shiver. “Alright alright… just be careful okay? I know we're not on the best terms Steve but I do have a lot of respect for what you are trying to do.”
Steve arched a brow and shook his head. “We’re not enemies Tony, I don’t happen to agree or appreciate that stunt you pulled with Ross. But I think now my stance on that shit is known. We can disagree and still be fine.” Tony next to him brushed it off while continuing with the switches, making his own adjustments to the system.
“I know Steve, it was still a shitty move on my part, bringing Ross into your home, where your mate was after everything that happened. But she certainly put me in my place.” He laughed, recalling how you kicked all of them out.
Steve glanced at Tony from the corner of his eye and rumbled out a “Thank you Stark, Y/N certainly isn't taking anyone's shit, not anymore.” Tony snorted in agreement to that statement.
“I don’t think they ever do, Pepper is the same damn way.”
Steve laughed in return, knowing full well that everything Tony said was accurate about Pepper Potts, Tony had chosen well for himself in Steve’s opinion. For all the tension between Steve and Tony, he respected the Alpha next to him, and knew that finding his packmates was just as important to Tony as it was to Steve. Not to mention finding those responsible for Happy’s murder. Steve turned his chair to face the other Alpha. “I’m sorry about what happened to Happy Tony. I know it’s hard to have lost someone who was family to you.”
Tony blinked at him, warring with his own feelings about everything that happened. Losing Happy so brutally had taken a toll on Tony, finding the body having been dumped just outside of his territory, he still hadn’t been able to fully come to terms with it. “Thank you. Finding the bastards who did that has become my main priority.” Clapping his hands together to end the topic, he moved to a stand. “You Rogers are ready to go, ready to Captain my jet?”
Steve waited till Tony moved out of his space before moving to follow him off the jet, keeping quiet about the further mention of Tony seeking out Happy’s killer. After seeing what had happened with Bucky and the rest, he already had his own sinking suspicions as to who killed Happy and he knew Tony did as well.
“More than ready to go.” Steve stated, coming down the steps off the jet. Tony spoke up right then.
“Friday, let Pepper and Y/N know that Captain Rogers is ready.” That caused Steve to roll his eyes and fold his arms over his chest.
“Seriously Tony?”
A smirk flashed, Tony winked at him. “Come on, I think it's a fitting title for you.”
Tumblr media
Bruce was furiously writing notes while you described to him what you remembered being under due to the drug Pierce had injected you with when the AI Friday announced that the jet was ready, as well as Captain Rogers. You and Pepper quirk a confused look at one another, and she rolled her eyes with a sigh. “That's gotta be Tony’s doing I'm sure.”
You nod in agreement, turning back to Bruce. “Looks like it's time for me to go Dr.Banner…”
“Bruce.” He was quick to interrupt and moved to a stand to shake your hand. “Thank you so much for this.” He tapped his pad of paper where he had all the notes jotted. “I will put them in my file to share with Shuri. All this is incredibly helpful knowing more about the serum used on you.”
Giving a vigorous shake back, you smiled genuinely at Bruce, you and your Little Wolf feeling quite relaxed with the man. “If I think of anything, I will be sure to send an email.” The Little Wolf flicked her tail in agreement, half listening while she was napping.
“Oh! Yes please do with anything you might remember, no bit of information is too small.”
Pepper walked out with you and joined you in the elevator. Reaching the top of Stark Towers, you both were greeted by Steve and Tony, who waited just inside the jet. As soon as you saw Steve, warmth washed over you, feeling that bond between you two hum happily, your wolves sought each other, in the moment they both were teasing each other, making your mood lift from having to leave once more. The genuine pleasure at seeing Steve melded that away, just as his own did, the wolves happiness being together melded with your own. Steve enclosed you in his arms, nuzzling the crown of your head a moment before questioning if you were all set.
“Tony Stark is funding another trip for us? I’m absolutely ready.” You joked as Steve let you go so you could turn to face Tony who scoffed at you.
“Don’t let Cap here defile my jet please!” Tony was sure to give you his signature hug, that made Steve rumble a bit although you instead laughed and gave a bop of your shoulder.
“No promises Stark. Pepper, thank you for showing me around your home.” Embracing her in a thank you.
“Stay safe and bring my jet back quickly, Cap.” Tony pipped up while walking off the jet with Pepper, cackling to himself at the finger Steve threw up while the doors shut you two in.
The Alpha muttered to himself while dropping into the pilot's seat and you were quick to join him on the opposite side. You buckled in while he flicked on buttons. “Captain Rogers?” you questioned watching him get the jet ready.
Steve rolled his eyes as he made sure everything was set and handed you a headset while fitting his own on, the jet rumbling to life around you. “Tony thinks he is very slick, giving nicknames. Apparently Cap is his new one for me.”
You smirked at him, winking as you settled the headset on and spoke into the microphone. “I think Captain Rogers has its benefits, Steve.”
His hand went around the handle and started to push it forward, edging the jet forward to take off, the spanse of New York City below you. Much like the night before, you marveled at the beauty only a city could offer. “You would Little One.”
A voice piped up over the channel, Tony coming over the comms. “I think your mate has a point Cap.”
Steve growled into the comm for a second while you started laughing in the seat next to him. “Tony! Get off this channel.”
“It's my jet, Rogers! I will listen in if I want.” He was about to continue when Steve took off his headset, setting the jet on autopilot with the coordinates.
You snickered into the system. “Sorry Tony, Steve is cutting you off. Bye Stark.” You effectively cut Tony off and slipped the head set off, setting it aside while you leaned forward to get a better look out the window, unbuckling in the process. “You know since I have been with you Steve, I have seen things I never thought I would. Look at this.” You directed your gaze at the expanse of the sky before you, baby blue as far as the eye could see, the skyline rushing closer till the two of you crossed over the cities edged, now nothing but the Atlantic underneath you. “Beautiful.”
Steve settled back to admire what you were looking at, letting some of his worries sink to the back of his mind. “It is… sometimes I forget you haven't seen all this before.” He held out his arm for you to join him, which you pushed from your seat and settled in his lap, his chin resting on your shoulder. “Do you remember much from the last time I showed you?”
You perch on his knee and look over the dash, worrying your lip. “Mmh barely.” Your eyes roved over the panels while Steve dragged the tip of his nose along the curve of your neck, inhaling against it and letting it settle him further. Both the man and Alpha wanted to enjoy the long flight with you.
“I guess we will be getting a crash course, Little One.” He rumbled happily while you seated yourself into a more comfortable position in his lap.
You looked over your shoulder at him, your eyes laughing at his remark and bringing the exact response he wanted. “Really Captain?”
Tightening his arm around your waist, he nipped at your lips with teasing affection. “Tony isn't the only funny one around here.”

Steve spent a few hours describing the functions and some of how to fly. Together you both got to watch the sun going down and eventually you started napping in the copilot's seat, even though Steve tried to get you to go lay down in the back.
These quiet moments, Steve wandered back to his memories, the Alpha in his mind lifting his head from the Little Wolf’s back where he had laid to rest, flicking his ears back and forth a bit at Steve’s thoughts.
The first thing that came to memory was the stinging scent of smoke.
“Rogers, don't you dare go into that building!” Fury’s voice commanded Steve who stalled in the doorway, peering into Hydras base, nose flaring trying to catch scent of their missing comrades. “You are not commander in this mission.”
“But Buck and the rest might be in there… I'm going” Steve defied Fury, darting into the darkness and out of sight, Fury's voice echoing behind him.
“ROGERS! GET YOUR ASS BACK OUT HERE!”
Steve continued forward, letting his Wolf out enough to sharpen his senses. His eyes picking up the bit of light in the darkened hallways leading deeper into the compound, his eyes glimmer dangerously in the dark looking for any sign of movement. He could sense others nearby, friend or foe though he was unsure. Footsteps silent, Steve once in a while looking behind him tense to make sure no one knew he was there. Glances in rooms showed them abandoned, cleared in a haste to get out before Shield got there Steve was sure. Ahead he heard scuffles and growls, chains clanking and the sound of voices in hushed tones. The Wolf lowered to his belly, quivering in anticipation should Steve allow him to take over. He eased the door open with a creak when relief washed over him.
There men, most of them in large cages. Familiar scents washed over him and they all perked sensing Steve.
“Rogers is that you?” Someone muttered while Steve approached, searching for a key anywhere in a nearby desk.
“Yes, the rest of the troop is just outside. We haven't found anyone though. Where is everyone?”
“Bolted man, once they heard Fury was coming they grabbed their shit and left. They didn’t have the bodies to defend this place.” Dugan responded as he pushed to the front watching while Steve searched the desk. Steve opened the last drawer, cursing as he pushed aside papers and flung them to the side. Then he was rewarded with a ring full of keys. Rushing over, the two men tried sorting through them, Steve stuffing them one by one in the locks, quick to go to the next till they found another.
“They left us and their experiments.” Dugan continued filling Steve in while he tried to find the right keys. “Some messed up stuff, they are in the next room I think.”
The Alpha rumbled to catch Steve’s attention. <Bucky isn’t with them.> The mans head whipped up while the lock clicked finally, able to pry it open and release his packmates.
“Where is Buck?”
“Bucky… he was brought in there and never came back out.” another said, pointing at the door across the room.
The Alpha rumbled suddenly in an alert and Steve tensed and whipped around when an eerily sharp howl sounded through the building. Dugan pushed the door open, tensing as well. “That's one of them, their experiments.”
Steve wrangled the keys out of the lock and started to go down the line, unlocking each cage, shifters passing him to get outside.
“Fury, you have outcoming hostages, they are friendly, don't fire.” Steve spoke into the comm.
“I hear you Rogers.” Came Fury’s voice in a wave of static. “Any unfriendlies?”
“No, Dugan notified me they all bailed once they heard we were coming” Steve responded before turning to his friend. “Dugan, get the rest out of here, I’m going to keep looking.”
His friend bared his teeth at him, bristling at the notion. “You don’t know what's back there Rogers.”
“If I have to, I will retreat, get these men out of here. I’m not leaving anyone behind.” Steve growled back deeper, the Alpha in him asserting himself and the man backed off with a disgruntled nod.
Waiting to make sure they were going to leave, Steve approached the door cautiously, using his senses to pick up what might be on the other side, who might be on the other side. He was praying for a miracle, because nothing but death filled his senses as he eyed the door, drawing in any scent left behind. It was all jumbled, multitudes of men and women have passed through the threshhold, making it almost impossible to pinpoint any specific person. “Well… let's see what's on the other side.” Steve shouldered through the door and a lab stretched before him, ominous equipment stretched on either side. A groan came from somewhere ahead and Steve paused till he heard it again. It was so distinct to him that the hair on the back of his neck prickled, the Alphas own fur raising as well along the ridge of his back, it was another Alpha, but this one they knew.
“Oh thank fucking god.” Steve uttered as he rushed forward to find Bucky strapped down and Steve started pulling at the straps holding him down. Wires were strapped all over Bucky's neck and chest and stretched to attach to some equipment, Steve started yanking them off as well when finally Bucky started to come around.
“S-Steve?” His eyes sharpened and he clutched at Steve's uniform, worried that he wasn't real.
“It’s me Buck, we’re getting out of here.” Steve tried assuring him, keeping his voice light and calm even though he was far from that. He had never seen Bucky so scared. Suddenly the howling started again from the back of the room and both men glanced that way.
“Whoever it is just keeps doing that.” Bucky muttered when a voice crackled in the comms.
“In-ing” then static sounded in Steve's ear, making him wince as he pressed his hand over his ear.
“Repeat? What was that Fury?”
“In-oming! G-t Ou-” The building started to shake and lights started zapping and popping around them.
“We ca-t hold hi-, Get O-” Fury yelled into the comm but Steve had to rip it out, electricity zapping through it and breaking it up too much. Bucky gripped Steve tighter, his pupils blown in his panic.
“What the fuck is it now?!”
“I don't know… but we gotta get out of here.” Bucky started pulling Steve towards the exit, but whatever was in the back rattled its cage with a savage snarl, and Steve couldn’t leave who ever or what ever it was behind. He stuttered to a stop, Bucky pausing at the door with a shake of his head.
“Man, we got to go… there isn't enough time.”
Steve’s hands dropped to his pants and felt madly for the keys he had stuffed in his pocket earlier. “We can’t leave him in there Buck.” He waved his hand. “Go, I got this.”
Bucky cursed but held tight, refusing to leave Steve behind.
Steve raced towards the cage to free whatever was inside, shoving the key he used before into the lock and it clicked to open. Glowering green eyes blinked at him from the shadowed part of the cage, but he couldn't make anything else out in the seconds he got the door open. Bucky was screaming his name and when he managed to get the door to swing wide, a bundle of black sprang on his chest, bared white fangs yawning open going for Steve’s throat….
“Steve- Steve?” Your voice cut through and he shook his head a bit to clear it before looking at you.
“Sorry, I thought you were sleeping Little One.”
“I was, but the computer started beeping on the dash.” You pointed to a blinking light and Steve leaned forward to check the system, smiling.
“We're here and just in time to. Look” He pointed out the window at the faint purple in the skyline, the sun easing up beyond the cloud cover to turn a brilliant red and orange of dawn. When Steve took over, he started to drop the jet down. Below the clouds the land turned a deep almost emerald wild green shimmering with mist stretching like tendrils to a spiderweb over the land, still in the early morning phase of waking up.
You weren't lying earlier when you said you saw things you had never expected. From the rainforest and safari of Wakanda to the lush greenery of Norway, you soaked it all in with awe. So long spent locked away in a room, gazing with longing at the upper windows that offered nothing more than peeks of the sky. Now you soared over the world with your Mate. Even the Little Wolf was in awe, slithering away from where the Alpha was half sleeping and prancing excitedly with joy at the adventure. The Alpha stretched out, arching his back and padded heavily after her, nuzzling her affectionately while her tail waved back and forth, unable to stay still in her excitement.
“The Little Wolf is excited.” You told Steve and he winked at you.
“I can feel it. What do you say we take her down?”
Steve easily maneuvered the Stark Jet down to land in a wide open field bordering the ocean. You followed him towards the doors swinging open and already wolves appeared from the long grass with tilted heads checking out the newcomers. You sidled up to Steve’s side a moment, watching the wolves dart back out of sight in the tall grass and heard their howls break the silence, announcing their arrival. It was a welcome sound, you couldn't detect any hostility in the notes. But their songs were so different. Sounded much older, almost like a language all its own.
Steve cupped his hand and gave a sharp “We’re here” yip, that was answered resoundingly from all around you, the pack having circled you two and remained just out of sight. His arm lowered around your shoulders and you held your breath, unsure of what to expect. A bellow came, joyful and loud as a tall blonde man, even taller than Steve stepped out, his arms opened wide in greeting.
“Why what a surprise! Are you here for the Asgard hospitality? I didn't think anything would ever get you to leave your corner in the world.” The over sized man strode towards them rather quickly, and the closer he came the more your eyes widened. You didn't think you had seen anyone who was as bigger then Steve in stature. He clasped Steve's shoulder and directed his joyful gaze down at you. “And who is this lovely maiden you bring with you?”
“If I could be there, trust me I would. This is my mate, Y/N. Y/N, this is Thor, the Alpha here.” Steve protectively wrapped an arm around you, even though you wore his mark for Thor to see, Alphas always had a bit of tension between them no matter how much their human counterparts tried to quell it.
Thor though seemed unaware of such a vibe as he beamed down at you warmly. “Well Little Pup, welcome to Asgard.” He took your hand in a vigorous pump and you couldn't help but warm right up to him and his exuberant nature. “We run free and feast like we are in the halls of the Old Kings here.” He swept the both of you down the path and all around his wolves started to howl and dance in a joyful manner, playing among each other much like they were participating in the Full Moon Run. “Now Rogers does tell me what has been going on across the water? It's been a while since I've visited there.”
“Afraid we have been having some issues.” Steve started, filling Thor in on the recent attacks, taking apart the packs and capturing the Alpha’s. The viciousness in the attacks and the destruction left behind. Thor listened patiently until Steve mentioned Hydra. That's when he paused, you and Steve having taken a few steps ahead but noticed he wasn't with you. You turned to see him glowering.
“That's why you are here, Rogers, isn't it? Because of Hydra. He wont talk to you about it you know.”
Steve sighed and you had a sinking feeling about the situation, not fully understanding what was going on.
“I have to try Thor, your brother was the only one who was able to break from the collars power and the mind shit Hydra does to their victims.”
“He barely interacts with any of us Steve, he mostly stays as his animal out there.” Thor retorted, the sky started to darken slightly and you frowned to yourself at the sudden change in atmosphere while glancing up.
Steve sighed, letting his arms hang loose at his sides to show Thor he was no threat to him. “I know Odinson, trust me. I wouldn’t be here if there was any other way. Packs, families are all being killed off, Alphas removed. How long till you think it will be till it comes over here?” Steve pointed out and Thor’s face twisted and he looked away.
“It won’t be like before, I won’t let it.”
“You don't know that… Shield risked sending the Howling Commando’s over here to help your people, now I’m asking for your help. Just let me try talking to him?”
Your heart twisted as you saw Thor try to control his emotions on his face and you reached out to touch his arm, Steve for once kept quiet, inhaling deeply to keep himself in check. “Hydra really hurt him, didn't they? If it's too much we will just leave. Right Steve?”
“If you tell me absolutely not Thor, she’s right. We will leave right now and not bother you again.”
Thor glanced back at you, his eyes searching yours and you could see everything he was doing was about protecting this person. You bit at your lip nervously, you knew you were invading this Alpha’s space but stepped in closer anyways. “Please let us try? We just want to save those we still have left. Our packmates are fighting a losing battle with Hydra, we don't want to lose them.”
A sigh escaped the man and he glanced over your head to Steve. “You're lucky you have her you know… she’s softened me. Slightly.” You stepped back towards Steve, who now laid his hand around your waist, chuckling softly.
“You really don’t know half of it, she has a gift.” You wriggled in his hold a bit but he just tightened his fingers against you. “Thank you Thor for letting us try.”
He shrugged at you both with a shake of his head. “I'm still saying that he wont talk to you, but I will show you where he stays when he is not hunting.”
Steve gave a nod of appreciation while you reached for his hand and gave a light squeeze. “Thank you Thor.” You gave your own sentiments.
The man looked at the two of you a moment, his eyes falling to your linked hands and motioned across the moors. “This way…” He cupped his hands, giving another howling song and the wolves joined them, spreading around Thor, these wolves were even larger than Mountain Packs wolves, giant beasts that were moving gracefully around there Alpha. You could feel the ground beneath your footfalls vibrating from there movements, the lush grass swishing to add to the melody of it all. Above them the thunder still rumbled with strong booms that cackled with electricity but had retreated from the fierceness it had flared up earlier.
Your Little Wolf kneaded her paws next to the Alpha, lifting her head to inhale the air around them, it spoke of a wildness she was not used to. Something feral that did not adhere to normal pack constraints. The Alpha rumbled next to her, now and then dropping his muzzle to his mate to reassure her, but the pull to shift for both of them was strong.
You could tell Steve felt it as well, the way he angled his body close to yours in a protective manner, his hand moving from a simple hold to pressing against your hip, wrapping around you. You tilted your head up towards Steve, your confusion clouding your features. He dropped his head to press a nip to your neck, whispering softly just for you. “I will explain later.”
Thor paused in front of a wood that looked ancient, the gnarled trees had stories to tell. Shadows played deeper beyond the edge, enticing you to wander in. Your Little Wolf huffed slightly, breaking the enchantment you had fallen into.
<This isn't just a forest Y/N, something powerful lives here.> Her ears flattened and you could feel her unease and the Alpha’s wariness sharpening, his ears pricked forward before twisting listening.
What is it? You questioned your Little Wolf and she whined unsure. You felt the Alpha slip away, in the same moment Steve tilted his face up, his nostrils flaring. You knew he was scenting for any kind of danger that might come from the old forest.
Next to you Thor boomed out loudly, making it echo. “Come out Loki!” You and the Little Wolf perked, hearing the woods shift and groan, shadows danced closer when a streamlined black shadow emerged to turn solid, the beast was streamlined. His size shifting to grow larger in the presence of you and Steve, a sharp pointed muzzle turned towards you and ears twitched with interest as he took you both in. You were a bit taken aback when you saw Loki, but he paused just after the forest ended and you could see the tip of his nose twitching, green eyes with almost emerald qualities glinting with the bit of light that somehow seemed to filter from the thunderous clouds still rumbling above you.
What do we have here? An omega to Rogers? A true Omega? Oh what a prize he really does have here. I wonder if he knows… A voice tickled your senses and the Little Wolf spun in your mind, searching for the intrusion. The Alpha returned to the Little Wolf, curling around her with a growl and a laugh echoed through you, not one that belonged to you.
“Steve…” You whined a bit and he furrowed his brow looking at you, confused as well as to what was going on, feeling you through your bond.
“Rogers is here to talk with you Loki, come out and quit playing games Brother.” Thor folded muscular arms across his chest and the black canine shimmered an emerald green while disappearing in a wisp of shadow and a sharp yip barking out from nowhere.
A resounding defiant No.
Thor shook his head at Steve. “Loki won't interact with Alphas short of me Steve, not since Shield pulled him from Hydra.”
The Little Wolf unweaved from the Alpha when she heard Thor.
<Y/N, we’re not an Alpha. Maybe he will talk to us.>
Steve would never allow us to go in there alone.
<It's the only way, Loki won't talk to Steve. He's too much of a threat to him. Say something, that big Alpha doesn't seem scared that Loki will hurt us.>
You took a deep breath and while Thor and Steve discussed other options, you turned to the men, catching there attention. “Let me go in and talk to him.” Steve immediately barked out a no, but Thor tilted his head, considering what you were saying. “I'm not an Alpha, he won't be threatened by me, right Thor?” You pressed for an answer from the man and he nodded.
“Your Little Pup has a point, Rogers. Loki wouldn't hurt her. I will escort her inside so she’s protected the whole way.”
Steve felt his chest expand as he drew up to his full height. “I'm not letting Y/N go in by herself, I know you trust your brother, but I don't.” His eyes flared yellow, the Alpha close to the surface with concerns of your safety. You could see that he was winding up to call all this off when you reached up to grasp his face between your palms, tilting his head to look directly at you.
“Alpha trust me, I know I can do this.” You stressed to him, the furrow in his forehead deepening as you knew he was at war with himself. “If anything is wrong, I will call you. Let me do this.” His hands circled your wrists and you felt that war inside of him. The same one where it was ingrained in him to keep you safe at all costs. It was all right there, flooding through the bond you two shared, your confidence, his worry. Steve huffed slightly before lifting his gaze from yours.
“Thor, give me a moment with my mate please.” Steve requested and Thor moved away, closer towards the border of his brother’s forest, his broad back turned towards the two of you while he waited. “Little One, if something happens. Loki isn't a normal wolf…”
“I could tell that as soon as we came near here.” You let your fingers press through his beard on his cheeks and slide down to his neck, sure to rub his scent against you in the process as well as sharing calming touches. “But he has the answers we need, Alpha.”
Steve knew you were right, but the inner battle was fierce. The Alpha wanted to protect his mate, an animalistic need to not let you go into that forest, every fiber of his being was on edge because of it. His human side knew you could do this and get the answer to save their pack mates. You were confident, he needed to trust you like you asked.
<Don't you let her go in there with that Alpha. What is Loki going to do to stop us.>
Loki is not all Wolf as you well know, he won't tolerate the intrusion.
The Alpha bristled aggressively, licking his muzzle over and over nervously. <We won't be there to protect her should he turn on her.>
But Thor will be… You know as much as I do that he wouldn't let any get hurt in his care.
“Trust me Alpha.” Your fingers trailed along the mark you had left on him, your mark that made him belong to you. The most sacred of bonds a mated pair could share and made in the utmost trust that you two would take care of each other.
She is asking us to trust her. If we can’t trust in our mate, then what hope do we have? Steve was firm and the Alpha had to concede to him.
Steve moved his hands to your face, cupping the most important part of his life gently in his palms as he inhaled deeply and tipped his forehead against yours. “Little One, if anything happens, anything at all, call for me. I will come get you.”
The corners of your mouth lifted and he saw it go to your eyes, pride and strength that your Alpha was trusting you to go in his place. “Of course Alpha.” You lifted to catch his lips, nuzzling your nose against his. “I know you will come for me if I need you.” You embraced him fiercely, Steve let his nose bury in the crown of your head and then let you go against his instincts. The Wolf rumbled, anxious as he paced watching you reach Thor. His eyes reached the other Alphas. “Thor…”
“I understand what is at stake. No harm will come to her, I swear it.”
You looked so tiny next to the man, your head tilted up to look at him with a warm smile and Thor's tilted down to look back at you. Steve watched the same warm smile cross Thor's face, making your mate proud of you, how easily you had already won Thor over. You had come so far from the runaway he first met and your warmth spread so easily to those around you. Maybe Loki wouldn't be immune to you.

The moment you stepped into the forest with Thor, it darkened. Looking over your shoulder, the emerald green sea of the moor was almost a picture racing away to be enclosed by old tree trunks. You licked your lips nervously and folded your arms around your body, sure to keep up with Thor. He was confident in his strides, the darkening vibrant woods was just as much home for him as the windswept open land you two left behind.
The Little Wolf was curious in the new surroundings, pacing and keeping a keen eye on everything you were hurriedly passing by trying to keep up with Thor.
You weren't wrong that the forest had a life all its own. It seemed to breathe around you, moss stretched across large boulders that sprang tendrils of plant life curling upwards to try and reach sunlight. Heavy thick trees were bristling against your palm and almost seemed to heave in sighs at your gentle touch. Thor glanced back at you, golden tendrils clinging to his face now and his eyes crinkled in watching you loosen from your fear into awe.
“You feel it, right?” He chuckled and you withdrew your hand from the tree back to your body.
“What do you mean?”
“Its soul, the magic in it all.” He braced against a tree and inhaled deeply. “All of this is very alive as you and I, it's old and has been standing long before we claimed this as home.”
You tentatively touched a nearby tree again, feeling tingles in your palms, making you shudder a bit. “It is certainly… like home, but not quite.”
Thor nodded with a wink. “Still a baby over there, your packs are just starting to write the stories that will live on after you are gone. One day they will have a life of their own, just like this one.”
Your brows quirked at his words. He's a funny man isn't he.
Your Little Wolf curled her tail around herself as she sat down. <He is, but I like him. This place feels like we belong here.>
There does seem to be a certain calling to be here…
You two continued on and you risked another statement. “Loki is not like you, is he?”
Thor shook his head. “No, he is not. But you have no need to worry Little Wolf.” He paused while he glanced around, inhaling sharply. “It's just me and Y/n, Brother, come out of hiding.”
“I'm not hiding, I can't help that you are not a more observant Brother.” A cool voice came from above and your eyes shot up to a long legged man lounging in the branches, looking almost like he couldn't be bothered. Thor snorted impatiently and motioned towards you.
“Y/N has some questions for you.”
Vivid green eyes fell on you and a cool grin formed as he moved to sit up and slide down. He walked in such a predatory way, almost circling you. The Little Wolf's hackles raised at him and you hitched yourself straighter. You felt that tingle in your mind again.
Why is it your Alpha is sending you in here for Omega? My brother is right, you are just a little pup aren’t you, so new to the world...
You snarled out loud, glaring at him. “You are not welcome in my mind, and I’m no pup.” And a quick withdrawal left you and Little Wolf alone once more. You could feel your Alphas curling warmth in your mind, even if he couldn't be with you.
Respect crossed Loki's features and he bowed his head. “Forgive my intrusion. It's not often I'm sought out, except by Thor that is.” Thor barked out a deep bellowing laugh, clasping your shoulder.
“You can't use your tricks on this one, she is small but fierce. Her Alpha has great respect for her.”
Loki gave a slight sniff, his green eyes sliding over you as he remarked. “I’m afraid you are right.”
You shrugged out of Thor’s grasp now, wanting the answers you came for. “Loki, our packmates have been collared by Hydra. Steve seems to think that you know how to break from their control. Please, is there any way to break the hold they have on them.” Loki suddenly appeared next to you, his fingers catching a lock of your hair and pressing it between his fingers for a moment as if further inspecting you. You jumped and pulled away from him, making Thor growl a warning at him. But you narrowed your gaze at him, knowing well that he was testing you. You had seen it all before while living with Pierce. “Don't touch me Loki, only Steve is allowed to. How did you do that anyways, appear next to me?”
His fingers swirled slightly, green wisps dancing around his nimble long fingers. “Magic Dear. I'm part Coyote, a Trickster. Sure your Alpha told you?”
You shook your head. “No… He doesn't talk much about his life in Shield.” Your Little Wolf crooned in comfort, knowing sometimes you were worried about how he would be so vague about it.
“Well it was a dark time for the shifters.” Loki admitted and glanced at his brother. “I don't much like discussing that time either.” You clenched your jaw a moment, worried he was going to flat out refuse your requests but he dipped his head. “But for you Dear, you boldly come out here without your Alpha, that deserves to have your questions answered. Come…” He beckoned to you and led you away, Thor was not far behind. Soon a small dwelling came into view and the door yawned open, which Loki stepped in.
Inside was different from what you were expecting. Books lined shelves upon shelves, seeming to go on forever. Plush chairs were dotted near a fireplace and wooden carvings dotted the entire area. Wood shavings littered the floor, making you smile a bit because it reminded you of your Alpha, the fresh wood scent enveloping you. The place was cozy, almost like something from a story book. Of course, this whole experience was making you feel that way, like some sort of fairytale your mother would have told you before bed. Thor heavily fell into a nearby chair, quiet as his brother waved at a seat in offering to you.
Loki approached a shelf and whispered under his breath till a box fell into his hands. Easing it open, he pulled out a collar. Silver strands weaved together into an intricate design. “This one was mine, but it stopped working on me after a time. So it was just useless metal. Why Hydra had kept me caged when Steve found me.” He handed it to you and you were caught by surprise at how light it was. Studying it closer, you could see twists of coarse black fur wedged through it where it sat on Loki’s neck.
“Why did it stop working?” You asked curiously and Loki settled down in one of the seats.
“Simple, I willed for my freedom. Most of the wolves have such a strong desire to follow an Alpha. Even the Alphas themselves can be forced to follow a stronger one should they come across one. Hydra didn't know I wasn't a Wolf, not completely. I can't be controlled in the same way for long. But it's that simple in how to get your wolves back. Your Alpha has to challenge them for control. Assert that he is stronger than the one controlling them with the collars.”
You handed his collar back to him and Loki flicked his wrist to send it back to the box, the box flashing away in the same green blaze you had seen earlier. “That's all it takes?” You asked incredulously. Loki shrugged with a nod.
“Hydra though is led by someone who has a power that no Wolf should have. It's how they are able to control such a large and secret organization for such a long time. But such power can always be challenged.” He drifted off, looking away into the fire he had burning in the fireplace.
You let the silence sit for a few moments before speaking up.
“Why wouldn't you talk to Steve?”
Loki gave a slight roll of eyes. “I don't care for Alpha’s, they always feel the need to challenge and dominate. I've dealt with that enough in my life. I choose to live on the edges of my own Pack, still a member should Thor need my assistance and the rest leave me in peace.”
“Then why me? You seemed interested in me being an Omega.” The Little Wolf stopped her pacing for just a moment, head tilted in curiosity.
“Because true Omegas do not need to dominate or be controlled by anyone.” Loki turned towards you, his head tilting into your direction. “You might always submit to your Alpha, but that's a choice you and your wolf make together, consciously or not. If you were to ever truly want to defy him, you easily could. It's why you were able to make me leave when I was exploring your mind.” You rolled your eyes a bit at the trickster, clearly not believing him. A life time of being made to submit to Pierce against your will and the recent incidents with Steve... you felt he had you mistaken. “ You can roll your eyes at me all you want Little Pup, but I know what I’m talking about. Omega’s can be a threat to Alpha’s or for the right one, there everything. Really depends on the Alpha they are connected to. So I like you Little Omega, you are a challenge for me.” He winked and you rolled your eyes, but couldn't help the smile you gave to him. After all was said and done, you liked the Trickster.
“Is there anything else you can tell me? How did you get the collar off?” You asked and Loki motioned towards Thor.
“That was me. After Fury contacted me that Loki was with the Howling Commando’s Unit, I went to bring him home. I can provide you two with a special knife made to deal with unnatural made materials.” Loki rubbed at his face and his front door sprang open, a rush of air billowing into the dwelling.
“Now I have answered your questions Omega, I can feel your Alpha pacing my border anxious. It's getting on my nerves. Return to him so he can settle back down.”
You nodded, letting your senses open a bit and sure enough Steve was anxious, although far physically, you could feel him. Nodding as you approached Loki, you held out your hand to him. He eyed it a moment, and then slid his own in yours respectfully to give a shake. “Perhaps soon we will cross paths again, Little Omega.”
“Perhaps we will Trickster.” You bid a final goodbye and now you left a bit more at ease, having the information you and Steve needed to save your family.

Sick of Secrets
A/N: Sorry this took so long everyone!
Part 1: The Secret
Part 2: The Secret’s Out
Part 3: Secrets and Lies
Tumblr media
“Demetri, tell me what’s happened” You asked as your feet are finally placed back on solid ground.
“My love, we need to leave. As soon as it is safe I will tell you everything you need to know” he brings his hand up to cup your cheek, and gently strokes his fingers down to your lips. Your heart beats faster, but, just as you think he will meet your lips with his own, something you have been craving since you first met, he moves away and you are desperate to feel his touch again.
He turns from you and looks back into the forest, towards the clearing where you last saw your friends.
You can tell he’s deep in thought, possibly listening for something, someone. He looks conflicted, like he is torn between staying here with you and helping who you know he thinks of as his family.
He looks back to you again, and the deep frown quickly disappears and is replaced with a small smile.
“Please Demetri.”
He hums slightly, as if he is thinking of how to word what he is about to say.
“Something is happening, well, about to happen, I sensed it, and I had to protect you. I had to get you away from there. But now I’ve potentially put you more at risk.” He walks slowly back towards you and takes your hand in his.
Now it was your turn to frown, “What’s happening? Why won’t you tell me? I’m sick of the secrets Demetri.”
Demetri hesitates before bringing your hand to his mouth to place a small kiss on the back of your hand.
“My loyalty was always to the Volturi, without question. For centuries I have done what they ask. But the moment I saw you on that street, I knew I would do anything to protect you. Until now the Volturi hasn’t ever been a threat to you, so they haven’t seen my loyalty waver, you’ve been safe, but now you are at risk and now I’ve realised that I will always choose you. I did it without thinking.”
You nod slowly, still not sure what this means. Demetri seems to sense this, and he continues.
“Aro likes to collect guard members he thinks are powerful, to reinforce our power within the vampire world. He wants Alice. And he will do what he can to get her.”
Your heart rate increases as Demetri’s words ring in your head over and over. Your friends are at risk.
“Once they are finished they will come for us, they know they will come for you to force my loyalty to the Volturi again. If I have nothing else to live for, they can bind me to them once more.”
“So my friends will die because Aro wants Alice? You could have warned them, could have said something.”
“I think Alice knew what would happen Y/N”
You think back to Alice leaving with Jasper, maybe she saw this vision happening, maybe she had a back up plan.
Pulling your hands away from his you turn towards the forest. You think of your friends, your heart breaking at not being able to do more to help them, but not knowing what was happening was somehow worse. You were completely in the dark.
“We have to go Y/N, we have to get away from here.”
He reaches out for you and you pull back.
“But what if everything is ok? What if they overpower the Volturi and they are not at risk? Then we could live however we wish?” You plead with him to see your view.
He looks deep in thought, his eyes focused towards the clearing.
“I can still sense everyone where we left them, nothing has happened yet, we still have time to get away. Please, run with me.” He turns to you, his eyes piercing into your own. He takes your hands again and you nod. Knowing that there was no way you could be apart from him again, willing to follow him anywhere.
Tumblr media
A clear flaw in Demetri’s plan is that he had forgotten about your humanity. He hadn’t planned to stop, but had forgotten that you needed sleep, it had been so long since he had spent a prolonged period time with a human.
He found a small motel a couple of hours into your journey when he realised you were falling asleep and shivering at the sudden drop in temperature that evening.
You stir awake to find yourself in a bed, wrapped in blankets with Demetri sat in a chair in the corner staring out of the window.
“Demetri? Where are we?”
He rushes to your side and cups your face with his hand.
“You were asleep my love, and you were so cold I feared you would never be warm again. I had to find somewhere to stop for you, although we need to get moving again soon.”
You look around once more, remembering the events of the day before.
“Can you find them? Are they still alive?”
Demetri sighs at this question.
“When we were running yesterday I couldn’t sense any of the Cullens, it was as if they had disappeared. Then this morning I searched again and I found them, not far from the clearing where we left them. They seem to be alive. I don’t really understand what happened.”
“So we can go back to them?” You get up from the bed and walk towards him.
He shakes his head slowly.
“I’m sorry cara mia, we can’t risk the Volturi finding us. Not until I know what has happened. I have my sources, I promise we will work it out.”
A small tear falls down your face as you turn to look at the cars passing outside.
“I just thought this was going to go differently. That we would be leaving to set up a life, not leaving everything and being on the run.”
Demetri holds your head with his hand and rubs his thumb across your cheek, wiping away the tears which were now streaming down your face.
“I know my darling, I know.”
He leans forward to press a kiss to your forehead.
Tumblr media
You join Demetri on the chairs by the window, asking him questions about his life.
“There is so much I want to know” he smiles at you as he holds out his hand. You take it and return his smile.
“We will have forever for me to tell you, and forever to make our own memories and take our own adventures.”
Your heart flutters at the thought and your face flushes. Looking up at Demetri’s eyes you can see they are darker than they were yesterday, his eyes meet your own before they glance down at your lips then back up again.
He closes the distance between you and holds the back of your head as he pulls you towards him. Your hands are shaking as you trace the shape of his face, fingers gently running along his jaw line to his lips. Demetri finally presses his lips to yours and your body fizzes with passion.
When he pulls away you unintentionally whine and pout slightly at the loss of contact. He chuckles under his breath.
“I know my love, but I must feed. You make it very hard to keep control.”
You nod and make your way back to the bed with the promise that after one more nap you would be ready to travel again.
After about an hour you are woken by a rustling at the door. Thinking it’s Demetri returning, you think nothing of it and close your eyes again. The sound continues, but now it sounds like someone is trying to get in, but can’t get their key to fit, it’s not Demetri. You sit still, hoping whoever it was would leave as soon as they realised it wasn’t their room.
The noise stops, and you settle back into bed, resting your head on the pillow again. Just as you close your eyes you hear a loud thud and a crack as the door is forced open, a large man with a wiry beard and a strong odour of alcohol comes bounding towards the bed.
“I saw your man friend leave, it didn’t seem fair that he gets to keep you to himself...”
Before you could react, he throws himself on you, and you are forced still on the bed by his weight on top of you.
Your thoughts go to Demetri as you will him to come back, to come back in time to help you, to save you.
It takes a minute for you to realise that the pain you feel isn’t from the drunk man forcing himself on you, but from your stomach. The man chuckles as he pulls away from you and you see the blood. As he stands up, you see the knife in his hand, just as comes towards you again with his knife held up high you see Demetri at the door. Demetri.
Then everything goes black.
Tumblr media
Demetri’s POV
No, no, no, no, no. I dispose of the man’s limp body to the side of the bed and rush back to Y/N.
Her skin is cold, and her colour is draining.
So much blood.
I take a deep breath that I don’t need to help my mind focus. Carlisle. Where is Carlisle?
I find his tenor, and quickly wrap Y/N in some blankets, lifting her into my arms and running as fast as I can.
As I reach the house, I don’t ring the doorbell, I don’t knock. I think as loud as I can as I get closer, Y/N needs help, quick.
Just as I get to the top step the door flies open, Edward meets my eyes and nods, motioning to the door down the corridor where Carlisle is waiting for us.
“Carlisle, you have to help her.”

[open me for the prologue]
The tabby cat yawned, stretching out it’s little white paws in front of itself. You would have thought that the poor little lost thing would have been much more panicked, but this cat was rather the opposite. It’s golden-brown eyes dilated while it studied you.
“What am I going to do with you...” The cat’s fur was cloud-like between your fingers. “Clearly someone takes care of you...you’re not gonna tell me who?”
The cat stared at you blankly and unamused.
“Of course you can’t...you’re a cat...what am I saying.”
The cat rubbed it’s orange cheek into the side of your hand, a thankful little sign of trust.
“Nothing scares you, huh?”
As if saying, yes, the cat’s scratchy tongue licked at it’s chops.
“Hungry? I’ve got just the thing for you.”
The aged wood flooring of your duplex groaned under your feet while you patted your way to your kitchen. The tiny modest place flooded with the late-morning light. Streams of light brushed past the windows lined with your garden’s menagerie of budding flowers. In her usual spot on the windowsill was your calico, Bomi. Her sleeping green eyes peeked at you lazily when you entered.
“You’re not gonna say hi to our new friend, Bo?”
Temperamental as always, Bomi chose when she wanted to recognize your voice.
“Hope you don’t mind that I’m borrowing some of your food for then.” You scooped out some of Bomi’s kibble--a sound which made her twitch her ears. “I’ll leave you to your nap, princess Bomi.”
Even flattery didn’t phase that cat.
Once you had returned, the tabby had jumped up onto the edge of a chair overlooking your front lawn. The cat was unmoving and sphinx-like as it watched the cars roll past.
“Here’s some food. If you want it.”
The cat twisted it’s head back as if to say thank you.
“You’re alright, Cat. Maybe I should keep ya!” You scratched behind it’s ears eliciting little purrs. “No...I shouldn’t do that. Someone’s probably looking for you right now.”
Across the room, your TV hummed with the cooking show you had been watching before your walk.
“Well...I’ll leave you to it then. I’ll just be...over there.”
You slid back onto your couch, cuddling yourself up as tightly as you could into one of the sides. It was no wonder that you adored cats as much as you did when you were so similar to them. On your most peaceful days, there was nothing more that you enjoyed than reading or writing out in your garden, soaking up the sun, or your quiet nights with open windows, cicadas singing and fireflies dancing to their tune while you would wash your dishes.
Never had you thought that talking to Bomi was strange. She was your only companion, even if she would begrudgingly accept your love. You couldn’t picture your quiet little life without her.
The tabby loafed it’s body on the upholstery and you laid yourself down too. The constant droning of the chef on TV was the perfect lullaby to your sleepy eyes...
₍⸍⸌̣ʷ̣̫⸍̣⸌₎
Ding dong!
“Hello?” His muffled voice seeped through your front door.
You shot awake from your couch with a startled gasp, your socks had twisted themselves all around your feet making them look like little elf booties. Undoubtedly your hair had resembled a bird’s nest.
The tabby stared at you with wide eyes and chirped as you approached the door. For a couple moments you fumbled with the obscene amount of keychains on your keys--many of them cat themed.
“Can-can I help you?” You tried your best to rub the nap out of your eyes and patted down the knots in your hair.
“Oh. Ahem Hi, I’m-uh, I live a couple houses down, I wanted to see if you had seen a cat around, maybe in your yard, it’s a tabby, they’ve got some white on their belly and their face...”
There were other words that had escaped out of his mouth, but those easily slipped past you. What was startling was how he was really...pretty. You had never really seen someone quite like him that made you feel as such. There was something about him too that seemed a little cat-like: perhaps it was his chocolate eyes, or bouncy coca-colored hair. He wore silver wire glasses that framed his face perfectly. There was a cardigan draped around his elegant figure, and it pooled at his hands into little paws.
“...have you seen them? I’m sorry to bother you.” He pushed his glasses up his nose bridge.
“Oh! Sorry, yeah, I’ve--”
The tabby yowled out, suddenly and proudly making its presence known.
“Doongie!” The boy gasped out, and promptly scooped the cat up while it’s legs dangled. “Thank you so, so much.”
“It’s no worry at all, I have a cat of my own, so it was no issue. I gave them some of my cat’s food as well.”
“Oh really?” His smile was just as pleasant and calming as you could have expected. “What kind? And thank you.”
“Calico. I think that she hates me most days but what would I do without her, you know?”
“Ahhh. That’s the life of a cat owner.”
You chuckled out a bit. “Hm. Yeah, it is.”
His face lit with realization. “Sorry! I didn’t introduce myself, I’m all over the place—I’m Minho. Lee Minho, from 2503.”
“I don’t think that I’ve seen you around this neighborhood before?” You leaned into the doorframe. “Then again...I don’t get out of my house all that much...” You laughed aloud a little at yourself.
“Me either,” He joined you. “Actually, I just moved back in with my mom, one thing after the other happens and living in the city doesn’t stack up too well...commuting is what works best for me now.”
“Oh, I’m sorry...”
“It’s fine. I don’t mind. It’s a lot nicer than I realized coming back home after being away for so long. She helps me with my cats as well. I have three.”
“Three?!”
He warmly laughed. “It’s kind of a lot isn’t it? For one person?”
“No, no! If I could have more cats I would, but...the one I’ve got already is a bit of a handful sometimes.”
“Maybe you could meet them one day...if you’d like?”
Minho’s cat Doongie had settled into his arms cozily, tail swinging and a paw slung over his arm.
“...Sure! But, I-I don’t want to impose--”
“--Please, my mother would love for me to invite someone over. She already thinks I’m a recluse.”
You cracked out a hard “HA” and Minho’s face flushed as pink as the petals from your yard’s cherry blossom tree.
“Oh! Sorry, sorry, I’m not laughing at you, it’s just that my mother thinks the exact same about me.”
Minho nervously joined in your laughter. “Good to know I’m not alone.”
Between both of you and the door frame, an awkward silence pervaded the air.
“I-uh, should get going...but--you didn’t tell me your name?” Minho swayed his cat gently in his arms.
“It’s Y/n.”
“Ah...Y/n. I’ll...be seeing you around then?”
“See you around.” You smiled to him as he clumsily attempted to walk backwards off your front porch.
You closed the door after him, facing the tiny mirror nearby. You looked an utter mess, baggy eyes and hair looking as if it had survived a windstorm. You couldn’t help but laugh a bit at yourself.
meow?
Bomi had sauntered up to you, then twisted between your legs.
“Sorry Bo, guess we don’t get to keep the cat.”
Bomi licked at the hair on her leg, going right back to ignoring you.
“I...wouldn’t mind seeing them again.”

synopsis: im changkyun is a prime sex worker at a local club.  nothing gets his pride swelling more than any poser off the street willing to come into his club and pin bills between the elastic of his fishnets and skin. what he finds more exhilarating than any show, pole climb or heated one-night stand, however; is the one sober woman sitting among her group of wasted friends in a velvet, vip booth. he’ll do anything to know everything about her; putting on a friendly smile was only the first step.
Tumblr media
a/n: you can blame DAZED for this mess (hi, just in case you need a reminder, this is purely fiction and not at all who changkyun rly is as a person. nothing about this is okay in irl)
Tumblr media
This was nothing new.  This was just the way his life always played out.  An exhilarating erotic number on a stage with a pole, fishnets and teasing personality followed by the highest bidder to continue his line of work in a more secluded section of the club.
Fantasia Dyed may have been a newer club against its competitors that have been around for years, but the workers and staff inside raised the bar previously set.  While clubs can be shady to begin with, what with the use of alcohol at every turn, murmurs of drugs, and agreements to met up for a quick money job- Fantasia Dyed had a reputation of the best line of sex workers you could get your dirty hands on. If you had the money, that was.
Im Changkyun was the front man of that line up. Wanted by men, women and anyone in between- if you had the cash he demanded for his services, he was yours for the night.  He had no qualm so long as you paid and used the protection he required to keep your own STIs to your damn self.  He really wasn’t picky, and he never stopped to ask himself as to why.
So, this- crawling out of some random woman’s creaky, box spring bed and pulling on the clothes he had lost earlier- was nothing new.  He looked over his shoulder as he ran his black painted fingers through his blond hair.
The woman was passed out, a fuzzy, brown blanket covering her body as Changkyun turned away from her.  Throwing his shirt back on, flinging his jacket over his shoulders and thrusting his arms through the sleeves, he shimmied on his black skinnies and boots.  Grabbing his abandoned black, clutch bag from the stranger's couch he unclasped it to look at the envelope of bills he had received just hours earlier from his ‘client’.
Throwing himself on the couch, he crossed his legs and counted the bills, smirking when he was adamant he was paid in full- with even a small service tip he assumed- to cover over his asking price for the night.  Satisfied, he got up and left that small apartment he had stumbled into.
It was only when he entered his own home- the top floor penthouse of some wealthy building- did he wonder just for the briefest of moments if he was truly satisfied.

“Y/n, if you don't come with me to Fantasia like you promised you would 2 years ago when it opened now that I finally have the money and the chance for my birthday, you’re being grounded.”
You, who was busy replacing books that you had been wheeling around on your return cart back on the shelf, had the lovely company of your best friend sitting behind you at a library table as you worked.  She’d been going on and on about her birthday plans and while you were happy she was excited about them, she was adamant on adding you to the attendee list.
Maybe it was cliche, but the oh-so-thrilling life you lived as a librarian of your local public library painted a rather ‘stay at home’ picture of you; and that is exactly how you wanted it.  The whole reason you took this job opportunity was because the head librarian noticed you come in every other Wednesday for a new list of to-reads to rent and offered a position after she got to know you a bit better.
Had you had the choice, you’d stay cooped up in your house with a good book, a nice warm drink, a rainy day and peace and quiet for the rest of your life. But, of course, that was a fantasy.  Your social life was barely breathing, with Halie-the insistent best friend behind you- being the center of your social solar system.
You were a prime recluse, you didn’t even keep in touch with your parents as often as you should since they were so utterly upset you were throwing so much ‘potential’ away when you decided to be a librarian instead of going into some out of this world career field.
You had Halie and Halie had connections with just about everyone ever.  She was easy to adapt to personalities and was generally kind to anyone she meets unless they’re rude first.  She was a prime example of a modern ‘dream girl’ that people had.  Though, she was still your friend no matter who she is with anyone else.
Was that naive of you?
“Y/n, I’m telling you, you’ve gotta cooooome,” she whined.  Sitting backward in her chair, leaning back and pulling on the back of the chair. You sighed, pushing a spine of a book into its rightful you had just mapped out.  “Please,” she begged in a pathetically, high pitched voice.
“If I go, will you stop whining?” You asked with your back still towards her, but you could practically see the smile on her face with the small, over-dramatic gasp she let out.  You almost immediately regretted your choice, and wished you could take it back. You knew Halie wouldn’t let it happen though.  You’ve spoken and now her selective hearing will kick on and she wouldn’t hear you even if you changed your mind.
“So, you’re going?!” She screeched as you turned around and shushed her.  She was in a library. With a few more accepting statements from you solidifying your attendance to her birthday, she left happily as you finished stocking your shelves in dread before sitting behind your check-out counter with the same dread- only 10x stronger.
You watched the time tick by on the computer screen at work, the watch around your wrist on the way home, the hanging clock on your living room wall and the alarm you set on your phone for 9 pm when you were set to get ready.  Time passed far too fast for your liking- you couldn’t even squeeze in a nap to help the nerves.
Before you knew it, you were walking out of your home, locking the door behind you with the only acceptable club outfit you could think of as you made your way to Fantasia Dyed, texting Halie that you were dreadfully on the way.
-x-x-x-
“Hey, Kyun! Take ten, dude!” Changkyun, who had just stepped down off of the high perched stage covered in sweat ruffled his blond hair that clung to his forehead in strands.  He nodded as he grabbed his bottle of water, slouching in a nearby domed-stool.
One of his ankle high, black platform boots propped up on the stool’s ring with the other on the ground.  The white tank top he had personally cut off to end at his rib cage and expose his stomach drenched in spots of sweat.  Black skinnies clinging to his toned legs and his fishnets showing loud and proud through the open knees of his jeans and wrapping around the perfection of his waist.  Having left his faux fur coat in the employee lounge for the night.
His dark eyes scanned the floor level he was currently occupying the best he could from his seat at the juice bar- for the lameizoids who wanted something non-alcoholic at his club.  He glanced at the wristwatch strapped onto the inside of his wrist and checked the time.  It was only just past 10 as he smirked.
The night was still young.
From not too far off in a different area than he was, he heard a small commotion starting to murmur.  From the looks of what he could see over his sips of water and his bangs hanging in his eyes as he flipped them annoyingly out of his way over and over, it may have been someone’s birthday.  Guest after guest going into the same area with the same woman in stockings and a cocktail dress hugging and greeting them.
A VIP birthday reservation; that did ring a small bell somewhere in the overbooked mind of the club worker.  Perhaps it would pay off if he did some of his work within their sights.  Birthday crowds almost always paid off in terms of after work lip service and bonus pay.
Stepping his foot off the lower ring of the stool he had been comfortably sitting on, he stood as he set his bottle on the juice bar. The tender at the particular unpopular drink selection area took it and tucked it away under the bar where Changkyun always asked him to put it so no one tried to get creative with it.
Walking around the venue area, he strutted by the lower ground VIP booth surrounded by thick, velvet ropes.  Whoever this birthday diva was, she sure went all out to keep her and her group uninterrupted.  A lower level 10 person booth, a table full of booze and a secure perimeter to keep outsiders rightfully out of her hair.  Just from the set up, she must’ve been some spoiled princess.
However, what really caught his gaze was one particular woman.  A woman dressed in a tank top, a cheap looking fake leather jacket and dark jeans.  Perhaps not ideal for Fantasia’s club etiquette and whatever she was sipping on in her clear glass certainly didn’t seem like any alcoholic beverage to his trained eye.  His pierced brow ticked up as he walked fully by and the table of rambunctious party-goers left his sight around the wall.
“Must be a prude,” he murmured but somehow, he almost felt guilty when the words left his mouth.  He couldn’t fathom at all why. It stalled him physically as he stopped in his tracks for just a moment before strutting further away from the booth to scope out a good area to work his magic.
The moment midnight hit Changkyun was being flagged over by the absolutely smashed table he had passed earlier that night.  The VIP birthday booth had confidently called him over.  As he moseyed his way over, with a few of his coworkers already there to entertain the group, he was greeted by some drunken man hanging off his shoulder.
Among the group of drunk or passed out party goers, there was the same woman from earlier who still seemed completely sober.  Changkyun raised his eyebrow as he shook the man on his shoulder off as he stumbled around and clung to the next nearest bod. He walked over to your side and sat himself down beside you on the velvet booth.
Crossing his legs, he watched you flinch when he plopped himself down, his elbows rising to rest on the back of the booth, his hand hovering close to your face.  He sure made himself comfortable. He had to admit though, as you sipped on yet another refill of something nonalcoholic, you were pretty easy going on the eyes.
“You sure don’t seem like you’re having any fun, lady,” he chided as he lifted one arm off the back of the booth to push his hair back out of his eyes for only the millionth time that evening.  He heard you nervously chuckle beside him and something about the sound of it stirred pleasantly in his chest.
“Well, this isn’t exactly my scene,” you told him.  Your voice was soft like Christmas bells, but it erupted in his ears, making the background of sounds and voices and bass all drown out.  He was solely focused on your lips and the sound they produced when you spoke he couldn’t hear anything else.
“Not your scene, but here you sit in mine,” he teased as he smirked at you.  You tapped the side of your glass that had become a slipping hazard from it’s condensation. Changkyun looked at the friends around you who seemed to be having the time of their young lives.  “You’re friends seem to be enjoying themselves.”
“Well, they go out a lot. I really don’t like these kinds of places,” you told him before you looked at him with a slightly apologetic smile.  “No offense.”
“Club scenes aren’t for everyone, I understand that. If you hate it so much, why did you come here?” He asked as you sighed, dipping your chin.  He felt a small spark of panic rise in his throat as he saw you suddenly even more forlorn than you have been.  Did he put that look on your face by asking your dumb questions?
He mentally halted himself, once again wondering why it affected him so much what you did and did not like or how you acted.
“It’s my best friend’s birthday so she pretty much begged me to come with her tonight,” you lifted your head and looked over to where she was, downing yet another shot.  You’d have to remember to book a cab for her to go home- if she doesn’t go home with the staff member she keeps clinging to.  “I probably won’t stay much longer since she pretty much forgot I’m even here,” you pouted.
Changkyun’s eyes swelled at the precious pout to your lips as you whined about being forgotten because you were sober and weren’t partying like an animal.  What was wrong with him?
“Do you like coffee?” He suddenly blurted out.  He couldn’t stop the words from forcing their way out of his mouth before his brain could functionally filter them or even stop them.  He gulped when you turned to look at him in the eyes for the first time that night.  Maybe it was the neon lights in the club or maybe it was the dim atmosphere that made them so enticing to gaze into, but he was locked in your gaze- unable to break away from you.  His jaw nearly dropped open as he explored the color of them surrounded by the club's aura.
“Coffee?” You asked in clarification. He just clamped his teeth together before nodding once. “Well, I’m not the biggest coffee fan in the world, but I like teas’ and I can handle a frappe if I’m in the mood for it.”
“I get off at three,” he told you as he desperately tried to keep eye contact. “If you find the stomach to hang around another three hours, we can get some?” He pitched as his voice that was normally always confident- as it should be for his line of grade-a work- shook just slightly with the booming club bass.
Your eyes shifted when he put the offer out there, and he started to internally panic.  Would you say no? Would you politely decline him and try and carry on like he never said a word? Or would you turn him down and leave?  Then, it hit him.  You were in a club; a club popular for sex work and Changkyun happened to lead that gaggle of workers. It’s pretty damn obvious you were assuming he had some ulterior motive. For once, he didn’t.
He dropped his elbow from the back of the booth as he turned towards you slightly, scooting forward to the edge of the booth seat.
“I don’t mean to hook up or anything,” he clarified, “I just want to get to you know, so I wanted to get coffee at an ungodly hour.” The hands he waved around to try and help convince you quickly settled onto his jean torn, and fishnet covered lap.  “If you want to.”
You sat and considered his offer.  It was Saturday, and the library was closed on Sundays so you could technically afford to be out later than you typically would.  And a late night chat with someone other than your wasted party of friends did sound tempting.  He seemed kind enough, even with his get up and the flashes of a performance you had glimpsed earlier with him on the lifted stage and poles.  You should never judge a book by it’s cover, just because he seemed like someone who slept around all the time, didn’t mean he was a bad guy, right?
You smiled at him and his breath left him in one fell swoop.  It was like your smile materialized into a pro-boxer and just gut punched him. And he loved it.
“A three am frappe sounds great,” you told him.  He smiled back wider than he knew he could. He thanked you before he excused himself to go back to work.  However, before he went back to the floor, he practically sprinted into the single employee bathroom and locked himself inside.
He slammed his back against the door as his knees wobbled and he grew weaker. His breath was staggered as his chest heaved in unsteady shudders.  His fingertips shook and he had shivers running up his back from the memory of your eyes and that smile.  He started chuckling to himself in the empty bathroom as he felt his cheeks flush.
God he felt so euphoric in the moment, it was practically erotic.  Whatever was wrong with him, he started questioning if it was really wrong if it made him feel so good.
-x-x-x-
It was ten till three in the morning when Changkyun did one last check to make sure you hadn’t left yet.  Almost your whole party was passed out, had gone home by cab or with someone else at this point.  The club was nearly ready to shut down for the night as they started to chase people out. You saw him peek around into the VIP booth area as you smiled and waved to him reassuringly.  That same tightness coiled in his chest as he rushed to the employee locker room.
A fellow pole dancer who was peeling off his skintight, laced finger-less gloves perked an eyebrow up at the rushing blond.  He hadn’t seen the worker so eager to get out of there before.
“Some kind of big surprise waiting for you outside those doors or something, hot stuff?” He asked. Changkyun shook his head, too busy searching for his clutch behind his fur coat so he could meet up with you.  Yanking on the furry sleeves that felt almost too warm all of a sudden, he snatched the no longer hidden clutch from his locker shelf and slammed it shut.
“Something better,” he breathed in promise to himself more than his coworker as he jogged out, his long coat bouncing off the back of his knees.  He came out of the room, seeing you standing and in the company of a different worker who was still relatively new to Fantasia Dyed. A rookie at best and his eyes hardened as the man spoke to you.
Leaning far too close to you, breathing too close to you and smiling far too seductively at you. He was clearly looking for a bed to crash in, but Changkyun hated it.  Loathed it even as he felt his lips pull back in a grimace mimicking a defensive mutt.  He stomped towards you and inserted himself between the nuisance and yourself.
Pushing his palms against the worker’s chest, he harshly shoved him backwards and took a few steps back himself towards you.  He felt like he was on fire, feeling you standing directly behind him.  He thought he could feel your warmth radiating onto his back like sun rays and it almost made him sweat.  He felt torn between feeling ecstatic that you were so close to him or completely pissed off at the man who stood shell shocked after being pushed away.
“She’s taken already,” Changkyun growled.  He shocked even himself with his tone, something coiling further and beating in his chest so violently he swore he felt his chest jerk forward with each beat of his heart.
The coworker raised his hands. “Chill out, man. ‘Didn’t know she was yours.” Something ignited the coil in Changkyun’s chest and sent sparks in his mind at the man's words. His? Yes… that sounds exactly right.
It sounded blissfully perfect as the man walked off and the blond turned around to see you and properly escort you out of Fantasia Dyed. He watched your back as you left in front of him- ladies first- and he let a grin crawl across his face.  Unaware of how his eyes looked as they burned into the silhouette of your body.
His.
Changkyun led you out of the club, but neither of you expected it to be raining at three o’clock in the morning.  You gasped as you instinctively brought your hands up above your head. You were wearing makeup and if it got wet, it was all over.  Changkyun was quick to rip the coat from his shoulders and sling it around you.  It had no hood, but he placed the collar of it above your head as you grabbed the edges of it to pull it around your body.
He nearly gasped when his finger brushed your hand, handing off his coat before he was pulling his keys from his clutch and pushing buttons to unlock his car that was parked just around the corner on the side of the building.  He reached around your shoulder and started directing you in the rain.
It was only when he sat you in his car, nice and dry, when he ran to get into the drivers sid, slam the door shut, start the car and crank the heat to get rid of the wet shivers you had due to the rain, did he realize he had just touched you again.  Although his coat was under his arm, so were you as you ran through the rain.  He had to contain yet another delightful shiver.
You shimmied the coat off your head to around your shoulders before you pulled it out from behind you and placed it on your lap as you pulled the seatbelt across your chest.  You looked at Changkyun who was already looking at you, but flinched and started fidgeting with his wheel and knobs for the radio in his car to distract himself.
“I didn’t realize there was rain in the forecast this morning. I wouldn’ve have brought an umbrella.” You briefly blessed the idea that Changkyun asked you out because you had taken the bus and walked the rest of the trip to Fantasia, so getting home would have been a long walk considering the buses don’t run at three freakin’ am.
Changkyun cleared his throat, whipping his blond, wet bangs out of his face and onto the top of his head, clearing his forehead as he shifted out of park.
“So,” he started, “where do you want to go?” You tossed ideas around in your head and it was so early, hardly any place would be open except the occasional fast food place or gas station.  Offering him the choice between an open, probably dead lobby for some fast food or grabbing a drink and hanging in the car in the rain, he was driving off to the closest food location.
As nice as it sounded being secluded in a car with coffee and the sound of rain, he wouldn't be able to look you in the eyes as you spoke as well.
Changkyun took you to the place he would often stop for some after work food before going home or meeting up with someone. Because he knew the manager so well (and because the manager was always in store by three to start preparing for the staff to come in at six) Changkyun was allowed an early entrance.
Even though you offered to get your own drink, Changkyun wasn’t allowing you to pay for anything since it was him who asked you out. Besides, it wasn’t exactly expensive to buy some caffeinated drinks- especially since he got a special discount too. The manager who always got him his food or drinks ready at this hour was shocked to see him with company this time around.
Time seemed to become truly nonexistent to Changkyun as soon as the both of you sat down at a back corner table- away from anyone's eyes from outside as to not cause the manager grief if someone should come demanding entrance because Changkyun was inside. You both talked about anything and everything he could think to ask you to get to know you better.
He learned that you were a librarian and that you didn’t go to school- forgetting about any further education after high school because you weren’t sure what you really wanted to do with your life. He found out bits and pieces about your family situations- gathering that you weren’t close and that you had no siblings to speak of. Your friends were small in number and that you weren’t really close to anyone aside from Halie- the proffered birthday girl at the club.
He mentally thanked Halie for begging you to come to the club, considering if you hadn’t Changkyun would have never laid eyes on you.
In turn, he shared what he could in return for your stories.  He had been working in the sex world for a few years now, quickly and unfortunately getting roped into it after a nasty breakup when he had just turned 21. When he realized just how desirable he could be, he started working out and eating better to keep his physique so business kept rolling in for him.  He was actually scouted by the assistant manager of Fantasia Dyed to work there- but it was the pay and benefits that really dragged him in.  He didn’t dislike his career, so he had no reason to say no anyways.
At least with Fantasia Dyed, he had benefits to get himself into the doctor if one of his clients ever lied and gave him some gross sex disease- then of course he’d sue them into the ground for not following his work guidelines. He told you about why he pierced his eyebrow and even the stories behind the tattoos on his back.
Oddly enough, despite your absolute opposite backgrounds, you both spoke and got alone brilliantly.  It was a balance of lifestyles and Changkyun basked in everything you had to say.  You didn’t shun him or sneer at his life as a sex worker and maybe it was the lack of disgust and prejudiced that really flipped something in his head.
You did not judge him. You did not hate him. You laughed at whatever joke he pitched.  You blushed at whatever lame pick up line he slid into conversation. You groaned playfully at his equally playful flirting. You were making him fall and he did- hook, line and heavy sinker.
He was absolutely, unbelievably head over heels for you and he felt like he was on fire.
You both talked and talked until you had noticed that the sky started to change color and the rain had stopped. The sun was rising and you were suddenly overly aware of how exhausted you really were.  Changkyun saw you stifle a yawn and although it felt like his heartstrings were going to tear in his chest, he was quick to get up and offer you a ride home as the manager started to truly open the lobby for business as nearly all morning staff were present.
As you sat in the car with him, directing him on what roads to take to get to your home, he found himself memorizing every turn. When you told him to keep it slow and then pointed out your small little apartment duplex, he looked at every crevice his eyes could see from the car window.  The neighborhood was somewhere small, but there was a small park just across the block so he expected it to be fairly busy during the day.
As he bid you farewell, and watched you get safely inside before driving away, he struggled to contain his breath.  When he rolled into the apartment parking lot and up to his penthouse, he was quick to lock his door and lift his coat to his face.
It smelt different than usual.  It had your shampoo’s scent embedded into its fake fur. It had the smell of your perfume and the smell of you inside of it.  He fell asleep that morning until afternoon with his coat curled around him instead of a blanket.  That feeling of euphoria chasing him until he finally fell asleep- only to have a set of specific dreams involving you in one of his reserved back rooms at Fantasia Dyed.
-x-x-x-
Over the course of the next week, Changkyun did his damnedest to keep his eyes on you at all times he possibly could.  He’d wake up in the afternoon and find a way to enter the library you worked at and slip into a corner behind a bookshelf with a book to disguise his obvious staring of you.  When you’d leave the desk to replace books, he’d move to avoid your eyes, when you’d help a guest with their books to check out, he’d growl when it was a man that you smiled at.  When you got off work, he’d trial behind you just enough to stay unnoticed. He’d watch you get home every afternoon and one night he even put a small camera on one of the fake branches of your fake bush you hand sitting in a pot on your porch.
He’d sit in his car or in his penthouse and watch the feed on his phone if it buzzed with a notification of movement.  If you were leaving, he’d jump into action to try and find out where you were going if it was an unusual time.  He’d watch you go to the store to shop or into some food place for something to eat.
He’s even seen you meet up with Halie a few times and each time he did, he hated that wench more and more.  That obviously spoiled princess wasn’t good enough to be around you, acting like a typical romance villain and obvious snake.  You were smart, so he was curious as to why you trusted her so much. She was clearly brainwashing you and keeping you around as a tool.
Changkyun had a mental list of enemies and people he hated, and she was ranked number one among that list- along with all the men he saw speak or flirt with you.  He wanted to get them away from you, throw them out of the picture and clean your mind of their filth.
During his work hours, and after even, he’d still get randoms to get into bed with him- but his mind would be filled with everything about you.  The person underneath him would disappear and your face and body and voice would take hold in his brain like some sort of spell.  He’d fuck into man or woman with such fervor he’d be getting calls from his manager that he was requested for service back to back.
He hit euphoria and erotic highs with you just in his mind, he nearly came undone when he thought how it would feel actually fucking you.  He’d go home from work, from another sex session and he’d lay on his bed, on his couch, sit at his table or collapse in his doorway and wear himself thin with his hand at the thought of your touch instead of his or someone else.
He sat on the cold floor of his front door entrance, his leather, skintight pants unzipped and cock slipped through the hole in his boxers.  His hand squeezed his length as his fingers rubbed and pinched and squeezed around the head and slit. It was so dry as his hand slid up and down painfully on his shaft.  His hips bucked to meet his hands motions and his legs twitched in their perched, spread position.  His stomach was tight as his opposite hand came to pinch and twist his nipples- his shirt discarded as he slid down the door upon his entry earlier.
It was so dry- it was hardly enjoyable- but it was painfully erotic. He couldn’t stop and the precum leaking from his cockhead wasn’t nearly enough for his hand to not pull on the delicate skin making him hiss.  Taking his lip between his teeth and breathing so heavily he stuttered, he watched his hand abuse his cock.
The hand that played with his nipples shot down to hold his wrist as he finished himself off, cumming with the sound of your name spilling from his lips in lewd, breathless moans.  He lay on the floor, slouched and exhausted as cum stuck, drying to his chest and pants.
He was so utterly, disgustingly, blissfully obsessed with you and he felt like he was losing his mind. His mind was filled to the brim with you, you, you.  He spent every waking hour he could preparing.  Yes, he had to make sure that everything would be perfect for when you’d finally come to him.
You deserved nothing short of perfection- and Changkyun would fuck anyone, get paid anything and obtain whatever it was you desired to make sure you got exactly that.  However, it would take time- much to his dismay.
He knew he had to get ready before he could possibly have you.  He started cleaning out a room he used as storage in his penthouse and got to work.
It was ten days after your three am date that Changkyun decided to play innocent and ‘bump’ into you at work one day.  He was impatient and couldn’t wait any longer to speak to you again, to hear your voice directed at him again and not at someone else.
He entered the library confidently that day, dressed in blue jeans, low heeled boots and a tee that was stretched just a bit at the collar.  His hair unstyled and glasses on his nose with his clutch under his arm.  He didn’t want to go over the top in style, so he tried to match your neutral style of dress.
He took a moment to look at you before he took a breath and walked up to the desk, placing a fake smile of shock on his face when you looked up to see him.  He nearly fell to his knees when he saw your eyes shine and your mouth split into a smile and wave at him.  If he could, he would’ve ran the rest of the way to the desk instead of walked.
When he walked at the desk, he leaned and laid his arms in front of one another on the desktop, bending and crossing his ankles together and grinned at you.
“Well, fancy meeting you here, madam librarian,” he greeted, acting as if he hadn’t been here daily for the past week just to see you work.
“It’s been a little bit, it’s good to see you Changkyun,” you said and he felt himself shift sinfully.  “I’d ask you why you’re here, but it’s a library, so,” you chuckled at yourself.  Oh, how he missed the sound of that laugh.  “Did you come looking for something specific?” You asked as he jut his lip out in thought.
“Not necessarily. I just felt like cracking open a book, and what better place to start looking? It's a pleasant surprise you work at this library. It’s close to where I live.” That was true, there were two other libraries in town and this one was the closest to him. You hummed at him. “Could you recommend something to me?” He grew giddy when you smiled widely and stood from your desk chair and started to walk around the desk, motioning for him to follow you.
As you asked him what he liked and disliked, leading him down the isles and scanning book after book, keeping small conversation he wished he could push you against a bookshelf and have his wicked way with you. He knew better, however; you needed to be taken care of in a specific set of ways and against a bookshelf wasn’t it- tempting as it may be.
“Here,” you told him as you spun around and placed a book in his hands.  As he took it, he quirked a small, teasing smile as he looked at you as if you were playing a joke on him.
“Twilight? Really, Y/n?” In his hand sat the book that sprung up the cheesy, cliche and overall, not so great movies he watched with one of his old friends for gags one night in his teens- completely drunk he may add.
“Hey, don’t judge a book by it’s cover- or it’s movies. It’s better than you think.” You shoved the book closer to his chest. “Just give it a chance, please?” When you ask so adorably with your lip jutted out just enough for him to fantasize leaning down to bite into it with his teeth, he had no choice but to comply.  He’d read this book cover to cover, backwards even had you asked.  He’d do whatever you wished.
He spent the afternoon halfway reading at a table near the desk and halfway watching you work until your shift concluded.  When you were packing up, he scrambled to get his clutch and mark the page he had to reread over and over again because he couldn’t concentrate and rushed up and over to your side.
“Are you finished for the day?” He asked although he already knew the answer.  You nodded as he touched your arm, grabbing gently around your elbow.  “Do you want to go on a date with me?” He asked as he saw your cheeks grew in the most vibrant color of rose.
“I, uh,” you cleared your throat and rubbed the back of your neck with your free arm. “I’m not dressed for a date though,” you pouted. Changkyun licked his lips, desperate not to let you get away from him just yet.
“Then, tomorrow,” he pitched, “when you’re free tomorrow we can go out.” Tomorrow was Wednesday, and he knew that you always left work early on Wednesdays.  He watched you tuck a strand of hair behind your ear as you licked your lips before rolling them over your teeth and then opening your mouth.
“I can do tomorrow,” you muttered, face fully flushed with redness flooding into the tips of your ears.  He released your arm with a giant smile.  He flicked his bangs out of his face as he felt his glasses slip just a bit further down his nose.  He reached into his clutch as he dug out his phone and handed it to you with the new contact screen up.
“Let’s swap numbers then, and we can work out everything through the phone.” You didn’t hesitate to place your number into his phone before sending yourself a text with ‘it’s changkyun’ attached to the message.  You promptly added him in your contacts as well.  Offering you a ride home, which you took, he dropped you off and when he walked into his penthouse that afternoon he pumped his fist into the air.  As well as stared at the palm in which held your arm earlier, gazing at it as if he had just touched the blessed body of a holy messiah.
As he sat in his living room on the couch, he felt himself harden in his sweats he wore before changing into his work attire. He had actually called in to take the night off since he had to be well rested for his date tomorrow. This hand had touched you, touched your skin.  He was sure it would feel magnificent on his cock too.
-x-x-x-
Tomorrow didn’t come fast enough and Changkyun was bounding out of bed at the ass crack of dawn to figure out what he was going to wear.  How would he style his hair? Would he fill all his ear piercings or change the stud in his eyebrow to a spike? Which shoes would he wear: sneakers, heeled boots, sandals? He couldn’t waste another second in bed, he had far too much to plan for the day to worry about sleeping any more.
He dove for his phone the moment he heard the specific notification he set for you. He talked to you a bit and you both decided on a time to meet up.  Meeting up at noon for lunch and then he’d take you to a movie and then he’d walk around with you window shopping, talking about the movie you both saw and then he’d take you for dinner.  That’s what he wanted to happen.
He showed up at the meeting place half an hour early.  Wearing a black, white spotted button up tucked into a pair of black jeans with a thin, white belt around his waist, he adjusted the buttons at the cuffs of his sleeves.  A simple, thin silver chain to show off his neck as his shirt was unbuttoned just enough to show off his collar bones.  The heels of his shoes clacked just enough on pavement or tile to let people know he was coming.
“Changkyun!” He heard from behind him.  He raised himself off the bench had had been sitting cross-legged on, staring at his phone and debating on texting you.  He quickly spotted you waving to him from among the crowd of people on the hunt for lunch before their work break ends.
His mouth nearly dropped when he saw you.  Running up to him with the cutest, apparel on.
A summer dress of pale pink with small white dots that wrapped around your chest and fell loosely at the skirt to hit your thighs.  The sleeves off shoulder and sheer all the way down your arm until it wrapped around your wrist in sheere frills.  Black, thin straps to keep it all up. A pair of white sandals that wrapped around your foot and ankle with the smallest heel to keep you from twisting your ankle.  Hair done in two little buns on either side of your head, but still kept some down with a black, stretchy choker around your neck.
The pink, circular satchel at your waist that hooked over your shoulder probably contained your phone, wallet and the pink gloss that covered your lips as you came to stop in front of him.  You were like a flower as he gazed at you.  You quickly lifted your wrist to check the thin watch you wore, making sure you weren’t late.  You weren’t.
“I hope you weren’t waiting here too long for me,” you giggled and he felt his heart try to burst from his chest. He shook off his stupor the best he could in front of you before he smiled and quickly denied it.
“I haven’t been here long,” he assured. You made a small jest about the both of you wearing something with small polka dots on it and he felt like he was going to fall to his knees at your noticing his attire and complimenting it.  You were far too precious.
Throughout the day, he found out that you weren’t only exceptionally kind, but you were probably the biggest pushover he’s ever met.  You’d follow after him like a little lost duckling and whatever he recommended doing, wherever he wanted to go, you were quick to agree and comply.  With your ease of compliance, he was able to mentally go through the check list of plans he had set with little to no difficulty.
It was miraculous how easily you obeyed him.
Changkyun made note of everything your eyes lingered on, everything your fingers brushed, everything you expressed just the slightest interest in- he would remember.  Changkyun wanted to spoil you, wanted to give you everything you desired- everything you deserved. You were an angel walking, cursed upon the earth and nothing anyone could say would change his mind about it.
The entire time you were out with Changkyun that day, you were smiling at him as he hung onto every one of your words.  Every interest, every detail, every idea or opinion you had- he grabbed it and held it deep inside his chest.
It was coming close to around ten that night when he was finally getting around to dropping you back home, as he could see the exhaustion in your eyes and the slowness in your steps. He had half a mind to just drive you back to his home, but he couldn’t- not yet.
He walked you to your door as he bid you a final goodnight and as you unlocked your door and pushed it open just a crack, you turned back to him and smiled.  He froze when he felt your fingers on his cheek before you stood to your toes and kissed his cheek.  You rushed inside before he could say anything and before you could regret it.
The blond sat dazed and only managed to drive a block away before he pulled into a parking lot of a closed, daytime store.  His cheeks were flushed, his skin burned and his breath was staggered.  He could still feel the feeling of your lips on his cheek and that shiver of delight attacked his spine and spread until he was finishing himself off in the front seat of his car- the sound of your name on his lips over and over again as his fingers brushed his cheek trying to feel the essence of you in his skin.

Changkyun had the privilege of taking you out on two more dates over the course of the last two weeks (along with his library trips to visit you) and it was today, when he once again frequented the library- where he noticed you weren’t in your usual high spirits.  He pulled you aside on your break and into a back corner library table as he made you spill your guts on what could be plaguing your mind.
It took all of his will power to not scream when you told him you had been being harassed by some library guest who always comes in.  He always wants the same book renewed over and over and he always tried to pry your number out of you.  Even after clearly telling him no and explaining to you that you were traveling among the silver lining of a relationship with Changkyun- he was persistent.  It came to the point you were looking over your shoulder and even jogging to and from work.
“So, he’s stalking you?” Changkyun clarified, as you nodded weakly.  He grit his teeth, his jaw tightening.  Didn’t other people know that his woman was off limits, especially when it came to following you around? He kept you under his watchful eye, but these men were after something far worse and in his sick, demented mind- they were the offender and they were a disease.
Changkyun reached across the table and gently held your hand, trying to convey that he knew that you were scared and that he’d do anything to keep you safe.  He could see the tears glisten around your eyes and a taboo sense of arousal shot in his stomach at seeing your so utterly weak and vulnerable.
He spent the remainder of the time with you on your break as he consoled and shushed you as he promised that he’d stay until you got off and when you did, he’d take you home.  You were quick to agree.
That afternoon you rushed to Changkyun’s side and were discreet to point out the man who was hanging outside the library entrance with his nose in his phone.  According to you, that was the perpetrator and source of your fear.  You clung to Changkyun as he gently wrapped his arm around your shoulders and held you to his chest, walking out with you.
When he dropped you off and kissed the top of your head as he sent you inside, the gentle eyes he had been gazing at you with disappeared as you shut the door and he heard it harshly lock.
Turning around and stuffing his hands inside the pockets of his jeans, he waltzed back towards his car, but never got into it.  His dark shirt allowed him to dip below the hood of his car as he started walking around in the shadows the street lights created.  He stood behind a post as he watched the figure move from the side of the building to the front porch where he crouched below the windows.
You had pulled the curtains and shut the blinds just as he had reminded you to as he was quick to walk up behind the stalker and hook his arm under the man’s chin.  The gasp that was pulled from the man was cut off as Changkyun’s arm tightened around his neck and he started to quickly drag the man backward and away from your doorstep.
The blond shoved the man into the backseat of his car, slamming the door as he quickly rushed to get into the driver's seat.  Not bothering with his seatbelt, he started the car with tangible rage and started off.
“What the fuck, man!” The man from his backseat scowled as Changkyun only reached into his center console and pulled out a small, black handheld device, pressing the button on the side of it as it zapped.  A stungun.  The man in the back hissed as he instinctively shut up.
Changkyun’s aggressive driving made the man in the backseat fall back and forth along the seats before he finally gripped the passenger chair to steady himself.  Changkyun drove and drove until he was well outside of city limits before he stopped and parked his car. He peered up into the rear-view mirror, seeing the man behind him look around anxiously.
“Get out,” the blond ordered as he stepped out of his car.  The man didn’t move, too shocked to process his words and was then yanked out by his shirt clad shoulder when he didn’t listen quick enough for Changkyun’s liking. The club worker threw the man on the ground as he rolled to his back just quick enough for Changkyun to stand over him.  His feet on either side of his hips, a glimmer in his eyes that was menacing to witness- even in the darkness of night.
The man on the ground shuddered as he weakly tried to crawl backward on his elbows.  His heels kicked and dug into the ground, threatening to pull his shoe off, as he tried to get away from the look in the blond’s eyes.
Changkyun’s foot came to the center of the man’s chest as he stomped, pushing him flat onto the ground.  He knelt, coming closer to him as he gripped the collar of his shirt.  Changkyun eyed him around- he certainly wasn’t a looker that's for damn sure.
“You really thought you had a chance?” He asked lowly, almost in a growl.  “I’ll offer you a bit of last moment advice for perhaps your next life,” he got closer to the man’s ear, before telling him something.  “Stay away from things that don’t belong to you,” he seethed.
Over the course of the next few days, Changkyun was delighted to see you smiling again when you told him that the man who had been stalking you seemed to finally leave you alone.
He made sure that a week later when he saw missing person posters out in the streets, your eyes stayed off of them.

After a month of dates, library visits, phone calls and good morning and good night texts, Changkyun was finally- finally- able to call you his girlfriend. He was currently out with you at some cafe where you wanted to stop and get something to drink and he decided to walk in and sit down with you for a while.
You were on your phone, tapping away before placing it down and repeating.  You were obviously talking with someone on the other end of your text thread, which already ground his gears, but the twisted brow on your face made him more curious than not. Someone was upsetting you and he already knew how to deal with someone who upset you.
“Hey,” he called, gaining your attention. You looked at him, placing your phone back down.  “Who’re you talking to, Sweetness?”
“Oh, just to Halie,” you told him. The name of your ‘best friend’ making his skin itch.  That fake fraud of a friend couldn’t even leave you alone while you were out with him? The audacity of the woman made him jittery. His knee began to bounce as he pressed further.
“Are you two fighting? You look annoyed.”
You sighed, solidifying that she was indeed bothering you. “She’s mad that I’m out on a date,” you grumbled.  Changkyun cocked his head.
“Excuse me?” His resentment slipped out just a small fraction as he wanted to know immediately what this witch was putting into your precious little head.  “She’s mad at you for what?”
You groaned again, placing your elbow on the table and your chin in your palm, you huffed.  “I think she’s just upset that I have a boyfriend before she does since she knows more people.” The tone in your voice made your annoyance apparent to Changkyun who had spent the last month of his life learning every little quirk in your day to day life- including your vocal tone. “She’s got a whole list of friends and while I have just enough to count on one hand, she's mad about my relationship.”
Changkyun watched you toil the situation around in your head, trying to justify her words and actions, but he couldn’t let you do that.  This was a prime opportunity.  The perfect time to finally get that wench out of the picture and away from you.
He reached across the table where he sat in front of you, careful not to knock into your drink.
“Darling,” he cooed, gaining your teary, stress filled eyes, “maybe you shouldn’t be talking to her.” He watched your brow quirk and turn inwards at his suggestion.  He readjusted his grip on your hand, holding it tightly. “If she’s so angry about something like us, then maybe you should go on a little break at least.”
“But-”
“I know she’s your friend,” he fought back before you could try and save Halie’s snake skin, “but every time you talk about her with me, it’s all things that stress you out or things she’s done that make you uncomfortable.”  He vividly remembers the club night of her birthday.  “Pressuring you into clubbing, then not paying attention to you at all even though you weren’t enjoying yourself.  Never talking to you unless she needs something or someone to bother.  Now, she’s angry because you’re happy with me? She’s just using you, Sweetheart.”
“I know she seems bad, but-”
“Y/n,” he breathed in a small, soft scolding tone.  “You can’t keep defending her and giving her what she wants. She has to learn, one way or the other.”  He watched your lips turn into a pout as he ran his thumb over your knuckles and brought your hand up to kiss the back of it.  “I just want the best for you, you know that.”
He bit back a victorious smirk when you told him that you’d take his suggestion and advice to heart and think about it.  A little more nudging and you’d drop Halie like a hat. He just had to wait until she brought something else up again that put a target on her back.
It didn’t take but three days for that to occur.
You were home, off on a Sunday, just sitting in your home, on the phone with Changkyun while he just woke up from resting since he had work at Fantasia Dyed that evening.  He had some private show booked up so he couldn’t afford to flake out either.  He needed the cash for his personal project he always teased, and this coming party was sure to deliver.
You both were chatting happily until you were cut shut but someone pounding on your door.  You told Changkyun to hold on a moment as you set your phone down on the arm of your couch and went to the door.  Changkyun on the other hand went and immediately opened the camera footage of your front door he had from that camera in your bush.
He growled and jumped out of bed when he saw the back of Halie in the frame.  Her arms were crossed and her leg was bouncing as she slouched.  When you opened the door, her crossed arms flared out and she was clearly shouting at you from the hiking of her shoulders and the fact that he could hear her obnoxious voice through the call line.
He jumped out of bed.  Nothing but sweats on as he threw on a jacket, leaving his chest naked before he was out of his penthouse, racing down the stairs and in his car on the way to your home.  He kept the call live- as much as he didn’t want to hear her voice- so he could hear the venom she spat at you as he worked her way inside. Stomping around and screaming like the bitch she was.
When he showed up to your home and jumped out of the car, he finally hung the call up as he stormed inside, knowing the door was unlocked from Halie’s tempertatrum.  When he came in, he saw you against the wall with your ‘best friend’ not a foot away from you still screaming at you like you were deaf.
He worked his way over before he was grabbing Halie’s shoulder, shoving her away and placing himself in front of you, walking back into your space until he felt your hands push on his shoulders.  He glared at the party animal blonde in front of him.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” He seethed as she seemed taken aback by his language towards her- a lady.
“Excuse me?” She spat.
“I suggest you leave, or else I’ll make you leave.”
“You can’t make me do anything. This isn’t your home either. I’m just talking to, Y/n.” Changkyun stepped away from you, turning the woman around by her shoulders and started pushing her.
“Yeah? And you’re done now. Get out.” He told her, shoving her out the doorway once he worked her through the front room.  Before she could fight back, he got close to her ear and told her one more thing before shutting the door in her face and locking.  “Stay away, or I’ll make you.” The look in his eyes, the crazed dangerous gleam, made his threat very, very real.
When he turned back around, he saw you on the ground, curled up as you cried.  He rushed to your side, rubbing your back and trying to get you to lift your head to look at him.  He cooed when he saw your swollen eyes and fat tears rolling down your cheeks.
“Hey, it’s okay. I’m here,” he shushed as you just wordlessly nodded with choked hiccups and sputters.  You were seriously an ugly crier, but what could you do? Your best friend broke your heart.
Changkyun shifted to hold you to his bare, jacket clad chest as you cried and he shushed you.
“Don’t worry. You don’t need anyone else. I’ll always be here.” He promised.

All it took was one more month, and everything was finally falling into place for Changkyun. Halie had officially left your side, with one or two more scraps between him and her before she finally called it quits.  And with the queen bee of your circle gone, the rest quickly fell apart and you were left with no one but Changkyun- as you should be.
He was in his extra bedroom, setting up his project more when his phone rang. He jumped to it, knowing it was you calling after you got done with your shift at the library. He had told you to call him when you had the chance, since he wanted you to come somewhere tonight.
“Hello, darling,” he purred into the phone, hearing you slightly chuckle on the other line.  “Did work go well? No annoyances?” He asked and he knew that you’d tell him about the computers or the receipt machine or the squeaky wheel on the return cart; but you never knew that he really meant to know if you were being bothered by any other man again.  “Well, if your evening is cleared up, why not swing on by Fantasia tonight?”
He heard you pause on the other side of the phone call as he was walking out of the room, shutting the door softly behind him. It was almost perfect.
“I’m not sure,” you drawled.
“I’m working the floor tonight, bar-tending for staff out sick. You can sit at the bar with me.” Your hesitation was loud and clear for him as he continued.  “I’d really appreciate the company, but if you’d rather not-” he quickly heard you try and reconcile and save the conversation but agreeing to his proposal.  You were a sucker for guilt trips. “Really?” He asked in faux concern as he grinned, throwing himself back across the length of his couch.
“Yeah. I’ll come, just promise that you’ll stay at the bar.”
“I’ll do my best. If I have to leave, just hide in the bathroom until I’m back,” ‘so that you won’t be in contact with anyone other than me’, he added silently in his head. You agreed and he said a quick goodbye before he hung up the call.  He sat up and peered down his hall, picturing the door of his extra room.  Soon, you’d be with him always.
It was an hour after his shift started and he had just served yet another waiting patron when he felt his phone buzz in the back pocket of his pants.  He wore a mesh shirt at the bar that showed off his torso. His tattoo in the middle of his back was on display when he turned around. His eyebrow piercing was a black ring this evening and he wore silver hoops in his earlobes. His knee high, buckle punk boots lifting him three inches higher into the air.
‘I’m here, where do I go?’ Your text read with a nervous emoji beside it.  He told you the location of the mini side stage bar and soon your head popped out from among the mass of alcohol driver party goers.  As you got to the bar and slid into a stool in front of him, he leaned on the counter and whistled at you.
“Well, look who dressed up for me tonight?” He asked, a purr in his voice as your cheeks flushed.  He recognized this get up, it was a piece he picked out for you one night. It wasn’t something he thought you’d ever wear out, since you were rather reserved, but he thought you deserved it anyway.
It wasn’t anything fancy, but even a simple, black cocktail dress with lace running up the sides of it and looping around your neck and back looked good when placed on someone as breathtaking as yourself to Changkyun’s eyes. He could faintly hear you clicking your heels together underneath you as they were hooked on the metal foot ring of the stool. The bracelet and earrings were a nice touch.
“I thought it was appropriate since you bought it for me,” you muttered, unable to look at him in the eyes.  He chuckled since it wasn’t hard to guess why. His entire chest was on display to see with only lines of fabric separating his entire torso from being nude.  He halfway wished he had gotten his nipples pierced when he was on the fence about it months ago just to see how you’d react to that.
He stood back up and turned his back and he could feel your eyes scan the tattoo that rested between his shoulders. Large and taking up a good portion of real estate on his skin. He smirked as he felt you stare, a shiver wracking up his spine just as it always did with you.  When he turned around, he offered you a glass of water he had so neatly prepared for you.
“I know you don’t drink, sweetheart,” he told you as you graciously thanked him for the drink.  Throughout the course of his shift, he was tending to people left and right.  His charisma between patrons and ways of addressing person to person just by acknowledging how they seemed to looked amazed you.
You could never hope to be the people person he is. He was bold enough to get on stage, strip and get behind closed doors for his way of life.  He was fearless in your eyes and you admired him for it.  He had told you that he would stop sleeping around for money since he was in a relationship with you now, but you just told him it was alright.
You trusted him, and although the idea of him sleeping around did grind under your skin like ice and salt, you knew that was his job. He worked in this industry- the sex industry- so that was the end of it.  He had started to dwindle down in client numbers though, never wanting to have the sex he was getting paid for last too long.
The clock struck midnight and Changkyun turned back to you the moment he had an opening to.  He leaned over the counter and towards you again, just so he could talk to you clearly over the loud bass and whistling from the stage work.
“What do you say I make a drink for you?” He offered. You looked at your half empty glass of water he had refilled at least three times now.  “Just one, I promise. It’ll be on me too. I just want my girlfriend to taste some of my work since I don’t get to work the bar often.”
“Well, when you say it like that,” you whined as he just chuckled and stood up, turning his back and started mixing.  It was three minutes later when he was sliding a cocktail glass gently towards you. Inside sat a liquid of pink that resembled the color of pink lemonade, but you knew whatever was inside that wasn’t lemonade. “Voilà,” he told you. “That’s something new I’m trying out. You get to be the first to try it.”
His smile looked innocent enough to your eyes and as you started taking sips of it with a smile and a nod; however, you missed a sinister glint in his eyes.  You complimented him on it and found yourself sipping on the drink, making it last until well after one since you didn’t want to have him make another. It was half after when Changkyun noticed you starting to sway in your stool seat.
He placed the towel he had in his hands on the bar before he rounded the bar to your side.
“Darling, come with me. You look like you’re about to pass out,” he chuckled. You couldn’t get your mouth to move or your voice to work as your mind was just as fuzzy as your eyesight.  Were you really that much of a light weight? He took you back into one of his private rooms before he placed you on the bed. He sat beside you, brushing your hair from your face and running his fingers around your face, skin and shoulders down your arm.  “Sleep. I'll come get you later,” he told you softly- the totally opposite tone of the smirk on his face.
You were in and out of it for the duration of Changkyun picking you up from the bed you vaguely remember placing you on.  He picked you up and took you out of the room. The bass of the club had stopped and you only heard him speaking briefly with coworkers before he loaded you into his car.
It felt like he was taking you home as he removed you from the car again and heard the jingles of keys before a door was opened.  You only remembered being placed in a bed before you felt him kiss your forehead and you were out for good.
You groaned as you were finally waking up. Your head hurt and you felt like your throat had sandpaper in it.  You coughed lightly as you reached your hand up to rub your throat, but something was around your neck.
Feeling around, it felt like a collar or something. It was thick and leather, a small loop in the front of it. You also thought you felt tags near the loop that jangled.  Groaning and moving among the mattress you realized that it was pitch black in the room.  You were sure your eyes were open, but you couldn’t see a thing.
Sitting up, you felt around your body.  Your cocktail dress wasn’t on you instead it felt like a nightgown was. Did you own nightgowns? IT feel off your shoulders to wrap around your chest and biceps with frills as it bunched around your thighs on the mattress.
Your head pounded as you rubbed your eyes.  You moved to try and crawl from the bed when you felt something tug on your ankle. Feeling around, whatever was on your ankle was thick, cold and hard.  At first you thought it was some anklet, but then you felt something protrude from the cold metal.
Pulling and tracing your fingers around it, you started to panic.  It felt like a chain.
You got off the bed you were convinced wasn’t yours as you walked around like some cheap, budget-movie zombie in the dark room.  You found a dresser first. Feeling around, you felt the knobs of the four drawers and on top it had what felt like boxes. Reaching further, you found the dresser had a mirror attached to the back of it.
Moving around in the opposite direction, you reached a closet door. Pull it open, you feel all sorts of soft fabric. Silks, satin, fur, cotton, linen- you felt all sorts of clothing.
You looked around the dark room in panic before you trusted your voice.
“Changkyun,” you called softly. You were going to call him again, but stopped short as you stepped on the cold chain that was around your foot. You screamed as you fell backward and before long, you heard someone padding up to the room and the door swung open.
You scrambled back, covering your face with your arms as you soon felt the foot of the bed push against your back, keeping you from going back any further.
“Sweetness, are you awake already?” Your arms that were up slowly lowered as you looked to the open doorway.  It was so bright outside of the dark room, you had to squint from the stark contrast.  Whoever was in the doorway sounded just like Changkyun, but- it couldn’t be. He walked closer to you. “Darling, can you talk?” His hand came to your throat, touching it with the pad of his fingers above the collar around your neck. “Are you thirsty? It has been half a day.”
You were speechless as Changkyun stood up from in front of you before he walked out of the room. You moved to your knees and looked around. The dresser and closet you found were indeed what you thought.
The bed was a canopy bed. A white frame with pink fabric hanging from it. The covers were red and white with a plethora of pillows at the head of the mattress.  There was a rack of four wood dowels by the bedroom door, and three of them a different kind of leash, and the fourth had a pair of handcuffs.
The one window in the room was covered with black out curtains- you couldn’t tell if it was daytime or not outside right now.
Looking down now that you had the light from outside the room, you indeed did have a shackled ankle. You began to pull at it, the cold metal yanking around your skin- pinching and shafting it painfully. You hissed as your yanking was stopped by Changkyun shouting.
“Don’t pull on that!” He cried, dropping to your side to pull your hands from your shackle. “I need to put felt and fur on it before you can move around in it safely. It’ll ruin your skin, but bear with it for now.”
“Changkyun, what?” You squeaked.  He smiled, but it was twisted in some sort of menacing light. Maybe it was the light from behind him into the dark room that made him look sinister.  You felt yourself begin to tremble.
“Don’t you worry your pretty little head,” he told you, patting your head and tucking your hair behind your ear. “Changkyun will take care of everything. I told you to remember?” He caressed your hair, tracing his finger down your face and under your chin. He then moved to hook his finger through the hoop in your collar.  “I told you, you don’t need anyone else. I’m all that you need. You are the princess, and this is your tower.” He flicked at the tags on your collar, one labeled ‘Princess’ and the other engraved with his initials.
He then reached to his side to the discarded glass of water he went to get for you earlier for your throat.  He gently gripped around your neck and used the back of his hand to tilt your chin up.
The mixing of emotions in your eyes made him shiver and when you blinked out a small tear he gently moved to place his lips over it. The salty taste made him groan as he leaned back and kissed your nose to see your eyes glossy. He smiled at you as he brought the glass to your lips.
“Drink up, Princess.”

I'll Walk With You
hello everyone shocked to see me posting yet again???????
i said after i posted that oneshot rehashing 3x06 that i was going to one day write something where mike and max have an actual conversation.... and here it is!! for your reading pleasure :)
i think i did them and their dynamic justice with this and i'm super proud of how it turned out. we're unlikely to ever get something like this in the show but i'm hoping s4 at least gives us them being actual friends so that i can infer that something like this happened between seasons lol
Max’s house is silent as the grave. She isn’t surprised, it’s been like this nearly all the time since the summer. Her stepfather will drink himself back to sleep on the couch, and her mother will say nothing. Max won’t say anything either. The day has barely begun and it’s already shit.
Most of the time she escapes the horrible atmosphere inside her house by going to school, but it’s Spring Break now and she has nowhere to be. She’ll be stuck with her thoughts all day if she doesn’t find something else to do, so after nearly two hours of trying in vain to entertain herself, she decides to head out and see if Lucas is free. She knows Dustin already left town with his mom the night before, and she’s not willing to have Mike third wheel her and Lucas, so she hopes he’s down to go do something with her. He’s good at distracting her from the inescapable cycle of guilt and anger she feels constantly nowadays.
Except when she gets to his house, his parents are in the garage putting things into the trunk of the family car. She stops at the sight. Erica is nowhere to be seen but Lucas is standing in the front doorway and sees Max coming right away. He meets her in the street.
“Max, hey,” he says. “What’s up?”
Max gestures to his house. “I came to see if you wanted to hang out, but it looks like you guys are going somewhere.”
Lucas frowns. “I thought I told you, we’re going to visit my cousins in Chicago for a few days.”
Lord, a few days? Lucas must see it on her face because he scrambles to assure her it’s not for the whole week.
“I’ll be back Wednesday,” he promises.
“Today’s Sunday,” she protests. She knows there’s literally nothing to be done about it, but it still sucks. What’s she going to do all week?
“I swear I told you,” Lucas repeats.
“Yeah. Yeah,” Max answers. “You probably did. I’m sorry, just… forgot.”
He frowns again. Max has been forgetting a lot of things lately. She’s not sure why, it just feels like everything in her life is too much and her brain can’t handle it the way it should. Freshman year has not been the greatest so far.
“You okay?” He asks her, reaching for her hands, and his concern makes her heart squeeze painfully in her chest. He’s probably the only person who actually cares about her well-being, seeing as her mom clearly doesn’t.
Max nods. “Yeah. I just didn’t want to be at home, but I guess I’ll find something else to do. Bye, Lucas,” she says, squeezing his fingers gratefully before turning away to bike off back down the street.
“Hey!” He calls. She turns back. He motions to the big house next door, equally familiar to her. “Mike’s still home, maybe you can ask him?”
Max crosses her arms. “Like he would want to hang out with me,” she scoffs.
Lucas sighs. “Look, I know he can be a bit of an ass sometimes-”
“That’s putting it lightly.”
“-But he’s not a bad person, Max, you know that. He’s dealing with a lot right now,” Lucas finishes.
Max rolls her eyes. “Yeah, well, he’s not the only one,” she says bitingly. She has never gotten along with the third boy in their group and at this point she isn’t sure she ever will. She’s also not really in the mood to look at his stupid face today, considering it’ll more than likely start an argument and she doesn’t have the energy for that.
“I know,” Lucas says. “I know. But you’re both my best friends and I think you guys are more alike than you think. If you just gave each other another chance, you’d get along.”
Max doesn’t reply. She doesn’t really know what to say because she knows Lucas is only trying to help her with what he thinks is the current best solution, but she doesn’t want to agree with him either.
“Just think about it,” he continues. “He’s the only one not going anywhere so if you really need to see someone…”
She gets what Lucas is implying, but really? “He’d probably laugh in my face if I showed up at the door. I’d rather stay home.”
At that, Lucas raises his arms in surrender. “I’m just saying he wouldn’t turn you away. We don’t lie to each other, alright?”
Max shrugs in response. “Whatever. I’ll figure something out.”
Lucas steps forward quickly to hug her. Pulling back, he keeps his hands on her arms. “I wrote my cousins’ phone number on the back of your math worksheet yesterday if you need it.”
She gives him a tiny nod and he returns it with a small smile, dropping his arms back to his sides.
“I’ll see you first thing Thursday morning,” he adds.
“Thursday,” she repeats, putting one foot back on her bike pedal. “Got it.” What’s she supposed to do until Thursday?
The answer, as it happens, is absolutely nothing. For the rest of Sunday afternoon, Max rides around town with no destination. She stops in a park for a while, sitting down and pulling up blades of grass and sprinkling them around her. A man walking his dog gives her a weird look and she flips the bird at his back. That action feels oddly satisfying, even if he didn’t see it. In the evening she makes her way back to her house, and everyone pretends like she didn’t just spend the entire day gone.
Monday dawns looking and feeling exactly the same, except Max decides to get a start on some homework. This way when Lucas comes back she’ll be free to hang out with him without the thought of her assignments hanging over her head. Her mom leaves to go to work and all it does is make Max hyper aware of Neil’s movements across the house. He’s supposed to go to work too, but Max isn’t sure he will. In fact, she sort of suspects he’s either quit or been fired. He’s missed too many days.
When she’s tired of writing and the lines of her character analysis of Mercutio are starting to blur into the equations on her algebra worksheet, she goes into the kitchen to find something to eat. Neil’s gone, so she makes herself a ham and cheese sandwich and stands by the sink to eat it. She feels exhausted, and it’s barely afternoon.
Hours later, she wakes up from a nap to the sun near setting and the noises of her mom puttering around the kitchen making dinner. The first thing her gaze lands on is the clunky walkie-talkie sitting on her desk, and her thoughts spring to the boys. Specifically, what Lucas said to her the day before.
Maybe it has more merit than she first gave it. It’s true that she doesn’t get along with Mike at all, but she might be willing to try again at some point, if only to appease Lucas. She had wanted to when they all first met. She liked the other boys just fine, but she could tell from the get-go that Mike was their ringleader and his opinion could sway the others. If she wanted to truly feel like a part of the group, they all had to be on board. Even after that, things weren’t so terrible between them; at least until summer and all the drama with El and then everything else that happened. Now, Max’s headspace is too occupied by other problems to care much about trying to repair her somewhat-friendship with him, and Mike has become more and more reclusive by the day. She even thinks she saw him smoking once, down at the far end of the field, which, although she isn’t an expert, she feels is extremely uncharacteristic.
Everything’s just weird now. There’s too many empty holes in all their lives.
Dinner is mostly quiet; nobody in this house ever says anything that has any true meaning anyway. Maybe it’s better this way. Neil ends up on the couch joined by his bottle of whiskey and Max’s mom shoos her away after she’s cleared the table, so Max retreats back to her room. The silence is almost deafening, and she wishes that dumb walkie-talkie on her desk would crackle. What she wouldn’t give for someone to say real words to her.
She considers calling Lucas, but she doesn’t want to bother him with her problems when he’s supposed to be having fun with his cousins. She also doesn’t want Neil to ask who she’s calling. In the end, she ends up tidying her room, gathering up all her comic books and folding the clothes she has on the floor before placing them on her chair. The walkie seems like it’s calling out to her as she glances at it every five seconds, and then finally lets her frustration out on it by snatching it up and launching it at her bed. She doesn’t want to break it, but she did want to throw it. Why does she keep looking at it? It’s not like anyone’s going to call her on it. The only people who might are both out of town.
Her emotions war inside of her. On the one hand, she knows what she wants, what she needs. She needs to talk to someone freely so it has to be someone who relates to what she’s seen, because being stuck virtually alone inside her house for the next few days until Lucas gets back is going to drive her insane. Unfortunately the only person she can think of is someone she isn’t on good terms with, which makes her angry for even having the thought. Is she really desperate enough to potentially embarrass herself?
Damn Lucas for putting the idea in her head. She’s sure she never would’ve considered it on her own. Damn Lucas and his stupid advice, damn Dustin for ever speaking to her that day and getting her involved in all their mess, and damn Mike for hating her from day one.
Damn her for going to talk to him anyway. She sneaks out her window, just as she has done to meet Lucas so many times, except it’s after nine and it’s dark out. She brings the walkie with her.
On the way, she wonders why she’s even doing this. She supposes it would make it easier for Lucas and Dustin when they all hang out together (which is getting rarer every week) if she and Mike aren’t constantly at each other’s throats about something or other. She also remembers something El said to her on the phone a while ago that she had forgotten about until this very moment. El had heard enough complaints from both of them about each other and was just wishing they would stop fighting. Max had scoffed at it and been about to launch into another rant about just how much of a jerk Mike was when El had said she didn’t care if they weren’t friends, she just wanted them to stop being so mad all the time.
Max kind of agrees with her. Being angry all the time is exhausting, and there are way worse things in her life to be angry about than Mike Wheeler and his dumb attitude. If she can make peace with him, maybe she won’t feel so out of place around her own friends. And maybe, if they can get over everything that’s happened between them, it’ll give her hope that the rest of her life might look up one day, too.
It’s only when she gets to his house that she realizes she doesn’t know what she wants to say. Maybe it doesn’t have to be a whole conversation, maybe just seeing each other for five minutes will give her enough stability to stay in her house until Lucas returns and she can talk to him instead. She just needs to be around someone who knows the things she’s been through since she moved here, someone who looks at her and knows why she is the way she is. Her mom can never know and will never understand, and Neil is too scary to ever think about approaching him with anything at all.
She drops her bike in the grass by the back of the house, making her way to the basement door where she knows the boys like to be. He’s probably in there still. Her stomach is roiling with nerves, scared that he’ll open the door and glare at her like he usually does, but she remembers there’s another way he looks at her sometimes. There are moments at school, when she passes the gym or sees the basketball team, where Max gets overwhelmed at the memories of her dead stepbrother. It’s almost like she can smell him, the way he used to get up in her face when he yelled at her and the way he looked when he died apologizing to her. It’s moments like that when Dustin and Lucas will be distracted with some petty disagreement that she looks to Mike and his gaze contains solidarity instead of hostility; reassurement that he knows what it feels like to be reminded at every turn of someone you cared about who is gone. He was there, too, and saw Billy sacrifice himself at the last moment just as she did. It’s not an image either of them can forget.
It’s this that gives her the courage to rap her knuckles on the glass pane of the basement door and wait for an answer. When she waits ten seconds and nothing happens, she frowns and knocks again. He wouldn’t know it’s her, why would he ignore it?
She pushes her face up to the door again and tries to see inside, her breath fogging against the glass, and then realizes all the lights in the basement are off.
“Shit,” she says quietly. She doesn’t want to show up at the front door at this time of night. His mom will probably answer and Max doesn’t want to explain herself. She wanders around to the front of the house anyway, looking at which lights are on. There’s one on the ground floor that flickers and seems like it might be a TV, and there’s one on in a room on the second floor. That room has pink wallpaper, though, so Max decides to assume it’s not the one she’s looking for. The middle upstairs window is dark, and the one on the left has the blinds pulled halfway down, but she spots a familiar figure walking past it in the half second her eyes jump to it. Bingo.
She takes a breath to steel herself before bringing the walkie-talkie out of her jacket pocket and pressing down on the button. “Mike, do you copy? It’s Max. Over.”
The walkie crackles with static for a few seconds, and then clears up as an answer comes through. “Yeah, I copy. What do you want? Over.”
“Can you come outside?”
It crackles again in the silence, and Max thinks that maybe this was insane and she should just go home. Then, “You’re outside?”
The blinds lift all the way up and Max sees Mike’s expression change from confused to surprised, like he didn’t actually believe she was there. In a second, he has the window pulled up too and his head sticking out of it.
“What are you doing here?” He asks, his tone of voice anxious, and Max realizes he probably thinks something horrible has happened. In his head, there’s likely no other reason she of all people would show up at his house at close to ten at night.
“Nothing happened, if that’s what you’re thinking,” she says, glancing away from him above her and noticing she’s standing in front of the front door. This is not a good place to be. “I just- didn’t want to be alone.”
She looks back up to find him staring at her like she’s grown another head. “So you came to me?”
Max huffs and crosses her arms. “Well, there’s no one else to go to!”
“Keep your voice down!” He hisses. “Do you want my mom to hear you?”
She glares. She’s starting to think that this was a bad idea after all.
After a few seconds of mutinous eye contact, Mike puts a hand to his forehead exasperatedly. “Give me a minute, I’ll meet you at the basement door.” He shuts the window and pulls the blinds down without another word, so Max heeds the order and circles back around to where she left her bike. A few moments later, he comes out the door shrugging on a jacket over what looks like-
“Are those Star Wars pyjamas?” She asks, her mouth twisting into a teasing little smile. What does El see in this guy? As far as she knows, Lucas isn’t this completely nerdy.
He gives her a flat look. “Why do you have to have a problem with everything that I do?”
She frowns. “It was just a question. Relax, jeez.”
In response, Mike puts his hands in his pockets and looks at her. “So what do you want to do?”
Max balks for a second, awkwardness taking over her. This is so weird. She’s never willingly chosen to spend any of her time alone with Mike, and now she doesn’t know what to do.
“Um… just- walk around, maybe?”
He shrugs at her answer and starts walking toward the line of trees behind the house, where there’s a little path that leads off to the next street. Max follows quietly, a little moonlight shining down on them, and she thinks that the silence between them doesn’t feel as explosive as it usually does.
Somewhere along the way, after they’ve crossed another street and gone down a path between two houses, Mike takes something shiny out of his pocket and starts playing with it, and Max sees that it’s a lighter.
“What’s that for?” She asks.
“Lighting things up,” he says.
“You smoke?”
“Only sometimes.”
“So what’s it for the other times?”
He looks at her and his eyebrows furrow for a quick second, seemingly surprised that she inferred something about him correctly.
Mike shrugs again. “Sometimes I go out to the woods and set dead leaves on fire one at a time just to watch them burn. It’s weird how something that was alive once can just disintegrate right in front of you.”
Max isn’t sure what to say to that, but she offers something anyway. “Sometimes I steal my stepdad’s Bowie knife. Use it to stab trees,” she says casually. “Sometimes I even carve that I hate him into them.”
She’s never told Lucas that. Something in her knows that he wouldn’t relate, that his way of dealing with his anger is much calmer and reserved, but Mike’s admission of low-level violence makes her feel less crazy for her own. Maybe Lucas was right in saying they’re more alike than they think they are.
They come out of the trees behind the houses, and the path continues down a hill to a small playground area. There's a swing set that Max sits down on, the cold rubber biting through the fabric of her jeans and making her shiver. The chains creak when Mike sits in the one next to her. He’s digging through his pockets for something.
Max is almost surprised when he pulls out a box of cigarettes and plucks one from the pack, lighting it, but given what he’d just told her two minutes ago it’s not that shocking. He takes a pull from it and then blows the smoke out into the air slowly.
“You want some?” He asks, turning to her.
She remembers the choking sensation she’d felt that time Billy had offered her a drag from his cigarette, and then her mom’s reaction to it.
“Yeah, why not.” Maybe if she still smells like smoke tomorrow, her mom will care enough to ask where she’s been.
Mike hands it to her and the tips of his fingers are warm. “You’ve smoked before?”
“Once,” Max says.
He nods and watches her, and she tries not to let the hot, ashy air she breathes in make her choke. She holds it for a few seconds and then blows it out, and it makes her feel less nervous than she was before about this whole situation.
The pair of them sit there in the darkness for a few minutes, sharing the cigarette in silence, before Max thinks to ask a question she never got a real answer for.
“Why do you hate me so much?”
Mike doesn’t look at her, sucking in another breath of smoke. “I don’t hate you.”
“You sure act like you do.”
“Oh, and you don’t?” He says sarcastically, still not looking at her. “If I hated you why would I be here right now?”
“Well, if I hated you, why would I have come talk to you?” She retorts, trying to restrain the irritation she knows is probably written all over her. If she doesn’t rein herself in, she knows this is going to go south quicker than she wants it to.
He laughs dryly. “You said it yourself. You only came because there’s no one else.”
Max bites back the anger that’s trying to rise. He does have a point there, but she’s not going to tell him that. He’s also not answering her question.
“Fine. Maybe you don’t hate me.”
“I don’t.”
“What’s your problem with me then?”
He hands her the end of the cigarette to finish and grabs onto the chains of the swing, dragging the toes of his Converse through the grass.
“You’re always starting shit with me for no reason and it makes me so tired,” he says. “Like, we’d be friends just fine if we didn’t argue every other day.”
“And whose fault is that…” Max murmurs under her breath, dropping the cigarette stub to the ground and putting it out with her foot.
Mike turns to her sharply. “Uh, yours? You made El break up with me! How am I supposed to forget that?”
“I already told you I didn’t make her!” Max says loudly. Why is he still on this? As far as Max is aware, they’re basically back together anyway so it’s not like it made a difference. “And how am I supposed to forget how shit you made me feel the first week I was here?”
He looks away again. “I was pretty rude, I’ll give you that.”
She scoffs. “That’s underrating it. You were a total asshole.”
He pushes himself forward a little bit and then lets himself swing back. “I guess I never really apologized for that. I do regret it.”
Max stays silent and waits for him to continue. He’s slumped over in the swing, looking smaller and sadder than she’s ever seen him look, and her heart twinges. She recognizes the defeat present in the way his shoulders are hunched, the complete and utter exhaustion at the state of their lives painted on his face. It’s what she sees every day when she looks in the mirror.
“It wasn’t that I didn’t like you, or something,” he tells her. “I was jealous that Lucas and Dustin seemed like they were moving on when I was so…”
“Messed up?” She offers.
Mike shrugs. “Yeah. And part of it was out of concern for you, too.”
Max furrows her brows in confusion. That’s new. “Concern?” She asks, shaking her head slowly. Her hair swings around her face like a curtain, blocking her vision, but she wants to look at Mike and see how he explains this. She tucks it away behind her ear.
“Yeah,” he says again. “I could see how fucked up Will was, and I knew how fucked up I was. And Dustin and Lucas are good at pretending stuff doesn’t affect them but I know it did. It does.”
“And?”
“And I didn’t want someone new getting mixed up in our shit, okay?” He bursts out, meeting her curious gaze once again. “I didn’t want someone else to have to experience the stuff we did. I thought if I made it obvious that I didn’t want you there, you would leave. You know now, but when Lucas told you we couldn’t tell you stuff for your own safety it was the truth.”
Max thinks about that. She supposes it makes sense. She has noticed that Mike tends to be the guy that worries about everyone else’s safety, and always wants to get to the bottom of the problem before anyone gets hurt. Lucas is the same and it’s something she admires about him, but it’s overtly obvious in Mike when he’s always the one stressing about coming up with plans. Lucas is a little more go-with-what-the-adults-say.
“I’m sorry that I hurt you,” Mike finally says, and his expression is earnest. He’s a bad liar anyway, so Max knows that he means it. Speaking of his lies… she has something to apologize for too.
“I’m sorry too,” she says. “For judging your relationship too fast.”
He makes a weird noise when he registers what she said, almost like a laugh but kind of mad, too. “Yeah, and for making my girlfriend dump me.”
Max reaches out towards him and smacks his arm, a spike of irritation fuelling her. “Mike, how many goddamn times do I have to tell you I didn’t make her?”
“Well, what the hell did you say to her to make her do that?!” He exclaims.
The peace of the previous moment is gone and Max crosses her arms over her chest defensively. “From what she told me, it sounded like you were just lying straight to her face so you didn’t have to see her. All I did was tell her that if you did it again, she should dump your ass. You did it to yourself.”
Mike throws his arms up. “Hopper made me lie! He told me if I didn’t, he wouldn’t let me see her anymore. You seriously think I wouldn’t want to spend time with her? After everything we went through?”
She thinks for a second about the way he’d looked when El had walked back into their lives; the way he had seemed to drop all the negativity he’d been carrying around the second she came through that door. Max remembers thinking she’d never been so sure about someone’s presence in her life.
He’s still on a roll. “What, is that why you’ve dumped Lucas, like, seven times? You just break up with him the second he does something you don’t like without even letting him explain himself?”
Bringing that up is a sore point. Max feels incredibly guilty for the way she’s treated Lucas in the past, and she’s trying to be better. She’d told him once that she knew she could be a jerk like her stepbrother sometimes, that she was angry just like he was, but that she didn’t want to be like him. And then she turned around and behaved exactly like him, manipulating Lucas’ reactions and dumping him over and over because she knew he would come back. It made her feel like she was in control, the dominant one, the complete opposite of what she saw in her mother and what she felt in her house every day.
But she had come to a point where she realized that one day, Lucas would get fed up with her. There would come a day when he wouldn’t stand for it anymore and he’d leave her permanently, and Max didn’t think she could live with that. From then on, she had decided to try harder with him and make things better, to talk about her feelings more. It’s always going to be difficult for her, but Lucas is worth it.
“Don’t say that like you know anything about why I did that,” she says sharply, gripping so tightly onto the chain of the swing that the cold metal feels like ice in her hand.
Mike glares back at her, indignant. “Oh, that’s rich! Like you knew anything about me when you said that shit to El!”
Max stands up suddenly. “I’m tired of the lies, Mike! Do you know what it’s like to live in a house where your mom will watch your brother get beat up and leave the room so she can pretend it didn’t happen? Where she doesn’t care where you go or how you feel or what’s going on with you because if she doesn’t ask, she doesn’t have to lie to herself that it’s okay? Where we all just don’t talk about anything and pretend it’s all fine when it isn’t?”
She’s breathing hard and he’s staring up at her with wide eyes, accustomed to her outbursts by now but not like this. Max sits back down on the swing, hard.
“I broke up with Lucas a lot because it made me feel like I had control,” she admits. “I needed to feel like I was in charge of the situation. I get enough of being treated second-class at home, and I don’t want to be like my mom, ever.”
She looks back at Mike on the other swing and he doesn’t look mad at her anymore, only like he’s processing what he’s just heard. It lets her own anger drain out of her.
“When El told me what you said, it reminded me of my mom,” Max continues. “She seemed so confused on why you would do that and to me it looked like you were just using her when you wanted her and dropping her when you didn’t. My mom kind of… disappears into whoever she’s dating and just goes along with whatever they do, and it looked like that for me,” she finishes.
“I get it,” he says, and Max raises her eyebrows. “I mean, I don’t get it personally, my parents aren’t like that. I just meant I get where you’re coming from. It makes sense why you would think that way.”
“I didn’t want the same thing that happens to my mom to happen to El,” Max adds. “She is her own person, and she of all people deserves the chance to be that.”
At last, they find common ground. “I agree,” Mike replies. “She’s been through enough in her life. And I’m happy you and her are friends now,” he adds. “Seriously. It was kind of weird to imagine her having girl problems or something and talking to my sister about it. I’m glad she has you.”
“I’m glad she has you,” Max says, and Mike looks shocked to hear her say it. “I might not get why, but I know you make her happy somehow. Even if you do wear Star Wars pyjamas.”
“Hey!” He says, offended. “You recognizing it means you’ve seen it too. And I know for a fact you read comics, so you’re just as much of a nerd as me.”
Max shrugs, giving him the point. “At least I can beat you at arcade games.”
“Is that a challenge?” He asks, swinging closer as if to intimidate her.
Max laughs, and it’s a real laugh for the first time in what feels like forever. “You’re on.”
“Tomorrow,” Mike suggests. “Twelve o’clock. I’ll meet you there.”
“Bring painkillers,” she warns him. “You’re gonna need them after I’m done kicking your ass at every. Single. Game.”
“You won’t beat me at Galaga,” he says proudly.
“Wanna bet?”
They stand up and shake hands, and his feels pleasantly warm. It’s a nice change from the frozen chain she was holding onto.
“Loser gets us fries,” Mike adds, and Max agrees to it. As if of one mind, they both turn back up the path they came from.
They’re back across the two streets they crossed and almost all the way back to Mike’s house when Max speaks again.
“So are we good?” She asks. She feels good about having aired out all the conflict she had with him, and he’s had this dumb smile on his face the whole time they’ve been walking back, which she’s choosing to take as a good sign.
“Yeah,” he says, looking at his feet. “We’re good.” He smiles wider.
It brings a small smile to Max’s own face. Having friends feels nice. “Why are you smiling like that?”
He coughs a little, scratching his head. “Just thinking about how happy El will be when she finds out we’re not enemies anymore.”
Max rolls her eyes good-naturedly. “You are so whipped.”
He shrugs as if to say, what can you do?
“I think Lucas and Dustin will benefit from having us not trying to kill each other every five seconds, too,” she says.
“Definitely.”
“Although I’ll probably still be annoyed by half the things you say.”
Mike makes a face like he’s not surprised to hear that. “Don’t worry about it. You’re still annoying, I just like you now. No more actual fighting.”
“Good,” she replies, feeling happier than she has in days as they arrive back in his backyard. She can faintly see her bike lying in the grass.
Mike has the door to the basement halfway open by the time she’s sitting on her bike ready to ride away, and at the last second lays a hand on her arm.
“Hey, anytime you need somewhere to go… I’m usually home,” he says, looking at her directly. It’s a simple thing to say, but she knows what he means by it. He’s telling her that he understands that sometimes her house is not a home, and that she’s always welcome in his if she needs it.
“Thanks,” she responds, and for once she is truly thankful for Mike Wheeler’s existence.
“Well, good night,” he answers, and awkwardly salutes her out of nowhere.
Max squints at him confusedly for a second. “I’ll... see you tomorrow,” she says haltingly.
He looks kind of embarrassed and shuts the door quickly, and Max rides off back to her house. That was random.
However, she is looking forward to tomorrow. She has a feeling Mike’s going to be the type of friend she’s constantly competing with, ribbing back and forth to see who can be worse just like they usually do, but this time knowing they’re both forgiven for their mistakes. It’s different from her other friendships for sure, but she thinks it’ll be good. Lucas is going to be pleased.
Maybe the wait until Thursday won’t be so bad after all.

one of those AUs where adam and ronan meet on college campus except
ronan isnt a student. hes a weird reclusive farmer with wicked tattoos who always shows up shirtless in muddy boots to deliver supplies to the agricultural department. the man has no phone number, email, or social media accounts. his only contact info is the mailing address for the barns. hes the local campus cryptid because theres always a massive fucking BIRD chilling on his shoulder and some students swear up and down theyve seen him doing wheelies at 3 AM in the abandoned lot by the now-defunct former office building
adam IS a student. adam is the most tired student alive and hasnt spared much more than a passing thought for the tattooed campus farmer cryptid because none of his classes are anywhere near the agricultural center and his head is so crammed with jobs and schedules and studying and extra credit and so much other nonsense. adam is approaching cryptid status himself because the only financial indulgence he allows himself is stupidly strong coffee and energy drinks with warnings from the FDA on the label. theres a rumor that hes a vampire and also a rumor that he sold his soul to the devil and thats why he never sleeps and also a rumor that the devils the one in debt to him
if you just saw adams dorm room youd think he bought out a gardening center or was at least studying botany but the truth is he takes flower pots as payment for tutoring sessions so he can carefully rescue plants he finds crying out to him. its not weird that he knows when a shrub edging a hiking trail is dying and its also not weird that he knows exactly how to transplant it somewhere safe and give it the right amount of water and sunlight to survive without so much as a google search. probably everyone can do that and also, shut up
adam throws his windows wide one night before he goes to the library for a cram session so that itll be cool when he snags a nap between 6AM and his 8AM class. after all hes on the second floor and its not like he has anything except plants, incredibly ratty secondhand textbooks, and a floor littered with empty monster cans that look like nuclear waste capsules. hes not that worried about being robbed
as he gets back and is walking blearily down the hallway with the weaving gait of the drunk or chronically exhausted, theres this SCREAM. adams whole body freezes. his heart climbs into his throat. he hasnt had reason for a fight-or-flight reaction in ages and his instincts say flight but his head says what the fuck
the scream definitely came from his room. as he slowly sets his backpack down on the hallway floor theres a thump and some muffled swearing. adam draws his fuckoff gigantic eight hundred page hardbound sociology textbook from hell out of the backpack and holds it above his head in one hand as he silently turns the doorknob and throws the door wide
lo and behold. shirtless farmer man is inside. in an ideal world thered be a charged pause where adam appraises the musculature and sharp outlines of ronans tattoos while ronan appreciates the fact that this random nerd can apparently deadlift the largest book of all time onehanded like its nothing
however. in this world shirtless farmer man has one muddy boot on adams rolling desk chair (rude, and also dangerous) and the other on adams cluttered desk (UNCONSCIONABLE). also theres a giant indignant bird chilling wings half spread on the lip of adams highest hanging flowerpot but thats the last thing on adams mind because DESK
“GET OFF MY PSYCH NOTES” adam yells
ronan throws a disbelieving glance over his shoulder before returning to operation: retrieve giant indignant bird. “i am KIND OF in the middle of something”
“youre stepping on my PLANNER”
“boo hoo”
“its COLOR CODED”
ronan clearly doesnt appreciate the gravity of the situation. all this aesthetic plotting and careful tabulating of post-it reminders ruined. adam clearly doesnt appreciate the campus cryptids bird choosing tonight and his open window of all windows to go feral in
probably things could continue in this fashion for a while because the bird appears to have no intention of leaving. there is a challenge in its posture. its like looking at a cat with a twitching tail tip
but adams so goddamn tired and his scheduled ninety minute nap window is shortening with every passing second and the fact that there havent been any plant casualties yet is a miracle and he doesnt want flowerpots to start smashing
so he sets his textbook on the floor and steps inside. “can you just be chill”
“i” — ronan starts, but then chainsaw moves and ronan has the sudden realization that nerd boy was not addressing Him. the reason ronan knows this is because chainsaw is now hanging out in nerd boys hair like its a nest. ronan knows from experience that chainsaws claws are exquisite little razors but nerd boy does not appear phased at all
“cool” says adam. “thanks for dropping in but nows not a great time.” he is still not addressing ronan
chainsaw huffs and ruffles up her feathers and spends a minute combing her beak through adams hair looking for snacks and then she flaps her way onto ronans shoulder
ronan looks at adam
adam looks at ronan
ronan looks at adam
adam looks at ronan
“what the fuck” ronan says

Removing their mask had a certain religious quality to it that they’d yet to find a parallel. It was not the same exuberance that came from a hunt or a well played game, nor the same peace from the ritual lighting of incense placed at the altar of Odin each morning, an altar they’d taken with them when they left their village. It was a relief, but not physical, a freedom, but not spiritual. Mental, perhaps, but in an unassignable ethereal way that felt like being washed in cool water. They’d long given up on labeling it anything but a pleasant sensation. A sign that home was underfoot.
Home, as it had been for the last two years, was not too far to make their commute unbearable, but far enough someone had to be particularly lost and stupid to find it. A single room cabin with a large rug, a square table for two but with only one chair at it, the other stacked with books in a corner. A bed, a rug, the head of a prowler mounted above the fireplace. Their altar in the corner and shelves of books, more scattered on any available surface.
The components of their mask-goggles, headdress, cap, and respirator-were neatly laid on the kitchen table. They stripped naked immediately, tossing their clothes in an overflowing laundry basket that Artur liked to sleep in and digging out an old hoodie that dropped to their mid thigh and some shorts. “Hm, tea, Artur?”
Artur had already settled into the laundry and gave a half- hearted croak before turning his head back to rest against his wing. They chuckled, coming over quietly and petting his chest feathers. “Tired? I do not blame you, krutt. You worked hard, yes you did.” He made a quiet noise of annoyance and they chuckled, planting a light kiss on the back of his head. “Alright, alright, rest.” He made another noise, one they knew well to mean I would have gotten it earlier if you weren’t such an old bother.
They made themselves tea, looking out the window over the sink while the kettle warmed. They had a wood stove, but they’d found the luxury of electricity, so easily gotten with solar because of planet Solace’s eternal summer, too alluring to not implement, even if they really only used it for their fridge and tea. Well, their phone, too, one stripped of any and all capabilities except calling and texting. They’d only ever given the number to two people: someone dear and long since past, and the Syndicate, so they would know if the Games were cancelled and they could sleep past noon.
Tea in hand they settled on their bed, curled up in the corner with the mug on the sill of the window. A new book, a warm drink. Pure quiet but for the animals outside. They fell asleep within fifteen minutes, and would have slept past that if it weren’t for a knock on the door startling them awake. They had their knife in hand in a second. They’d had two visitors in the entire time they’d lived there and neither had been someone they wanted to see. Still, they opened the door, and dropped the knife in shock.
“Whoa, whoa!” Mirage jumped back, stumbling and falling on his ass.“Watch where you fling your knives!”
They swallowed hard, staring.
“Man that could have taken out my, my foot. Jesus,” he placed his hands on either side and pushed himself up, unsteady, had he been drinking? “I-hey, uh, why are you looking at me like that?”
Shit, they weren’t wearing their mask. They didn’t want to speak, either. Exactly what was the population of Icelandic recluses on Solace again?
“Uh, shit, this is probably weird, uh, hi. Uh. I’m lost. I’m also, y’know, Mirage if that, heh, means anything?”
They continued to stare, washing their face in neutrality.
“Uh, anyway I uh, could use some help. Kinda lost.”
They were about to point him away when they looked down and realized his ankle did not quite look right. They pointed to it. He chuckled nervously. “Yeah, uh, I kind of tripped. I think. I was drinking. I got blindfolded for a dare, woke up on a beaaaaach-y’know how it is.”
They, unfortunately, did. And they also, unfortunately, couldn’t morally justify banishing him when he was injured. And so, tight lipped, waved him in. He seemed surprised but thanked them, carefully climbing the steps. “Oh man, this is awesome, a nice uh, nice place. Never thought I’d find anybody out here.”
They glanced at him and gestured to the kitchen chair. He sat and lifted his pant leg when they motioned for him to. As they suspected, his ankle was twisted. Thankfully they’d stolen more than one syringe and medkit from the Games, both of which could heal it in moments. As soon as he was fixed they could send him to find his own way.
“Oh hey, those look like the ones we use in the Games.” He said offhandedly, and they hoped the involuntary flinch didn’t show.
They glanced at him and saw a funny look on his face, but didn’t comment while kneeling by his leg and stabbing above the joint of the ankle. They stood up and tossed the syringe, a little miffed they didn’t hear a thank you until they turned and saw that Mirage was staring at the full components of their mask laid on the kitchen table. “Fuck.”
“So they do speak,” he said quietly, head ducked away but eyes on them. “Bloodhound?”
They pursed their lips tightly. Artur made a confused chirp from the laundry basket and Mirage’s head zipped around, then back at Hound. They inhaled deeply. There was no denying it-as stupid as he seemed, Mirage wasn’t an idiot. Idiots didn’t meet the qualifiers. But he was a chatterbox, and this made them nervous, clenching their teeth hard as the moment built and built, their mind blank in panic. They wanted this to have never happened, but that wasn’t an option.
“Sorry,” he said finally, biting his lip. “Thanks for your help.”
They swallowed, fingernails dug deep into their palms. Artur chirped again and glided over, settling on the table. “Hey buddy, you’re not so scary when you’re not hunting me down,” he said gently, offering his hand like one would to a dog. Surprising them, Artur settled back, chest displayed for pets, which Mirage granted. He looked at them again and began to stand. “I-I’ll go. Sorry, uh, thanks, though. I-I’m not gonna say anything I uh, uh, I hope you uh...”
They felt a sudden pull at their gut and gestured for him to sit. “You look like a dog’s chew toy.”
“Thanks. Wait, that’s not a compliment.”
“Would you like tea?” Been years since you’ve said that.
He blinked, seeming to gather himself and slowly lower into the chair. “Uh, sure.”
“It’s ginger.”
“I didn’t know tea came in different colors.” They looked back at him. “Oh shit you mean the root. Well, technically it’s a stem, but...I’m gonna shut up now.”
They wanted to swallow it, but the chuckled worked up their throat to the air anyway. “You prefer coffee?”
“I don’t really drink either, well except with like a greasy diner breakfast, if you don’t have black coffee with that you’re a criminal. Least, that’s what my mom’s always said.”
They mixed in a dollop of honey with the tea, passing it to Mirage. Or should they think of him as Elliott? It was a dangerous sort of intimacy, but it couldn’t be any worse than not kicking him out. Artur squawked. They set a tupperware from the fridge with fresh vegetables and meat in front of him. Elliott smirked. “You’re a spoiled bird, aren’t you?”
“Oh, he knows. And he’s a brat.” They leaned against the kitchen counter, a few feet from him. Their shoulders were tense though they appeared loose. “Little rassgat.”
“Huh? No wait, lemme guess, uh, hm...shithead.”
They snorted. “Asshole. Drullusokkur is shithead.”
“Drullusooker-drulla, drullasoker, drull...y’know, I’m good. Hey, can I ask you a question?”
“If I can ask you one.”
“Sure.” He sipped his tea. “Shit, that’s good. Anyway, this place, I’ve been in this area before and never saw it.”
They paused, rubbing the rim of their mug with their thumb. “Well, I have not been here long. About two years.”
“What the hell would make you move here?”
It was a reasonable question, all things considered. “What other planet can I build with no permits in the middle of the jungle and no one will stop me?”
“Ha! Guess that’s fair.”
They smirked. “Well, my turn. Did you really make that bad of a bet?”
“Probably. Dunno, I blacked out during the card game.”
“That isnot a good winning method.”
“Nope.” He exhaled in a half laugh, holding the mug to his chest. Artur finished up his food and decided humans were no longer of interest to him and returned to the laundry basket. Bloodhound dropped the tupperware in the sink, glancing out the window that faced the ocean. One could see just slivers of the sand, soft and hot, against the sunset,  a long walk made longer by the uneven ground. They could feel his eyes on them and turned their head his way. He quickly looked into his mug.
They knew he was looking at the scars. “Inhaled military grade coolant when I was fourteen,” they said quietly. His head shot up, surprised. “They used to be much worse.”
“Oh,” he whispered. The air wasn’t nearly as tense as they thought it would be. “I’m sorry.”
“Ah, twenty-two years and you get used to it.” They finished off their tea, and took Elliott’s mug as well. “Don’t cower like a guilty dog. Please.”
“Sorry,” he sat up again, and they gave themself some respite in washing the dishes, thinking on how they usually spent their evening: tea, a nap, dinner, then weapon maintenance with the radio on, or perhaps a book. A walk out to the beach with Artur to watch him play in the sand. Elliott had been a huge disruption to their routine...what was one more? “It’s a long walk and nearly dark. Did you drive to the bar?”
He cleared his throat, surprise clear in his voice, “uh, yeah, yeah over in Nova.”
Ten minutes away. “If you’re feeling better, I can drive you there.”
“I uh, I don’t really want to, uh, impose.”
Polite to a fault. They insisted it wasn’t an imposition, and after putting the dishes in the drying rack grabbed their keys and a jacket, telling Artur they’d be back soon. Mirage followed them curiously. “No mask?”
“What would you recognize more, my mask, or my face? Besides, it’ll be dark.”
“Oh! Smart!”
They chuckled slightly, leading him to their jeep that was tucked by a path they’d made through the trees. They strapped in and set off, and it wasn’t until they reached the parking lot of the bar Elliott had parked at that they realized they might have done something wrong. “Do you have a license?” He asked breathlessly.
“No.”
“Oh! Okay,” he said, voice high pitched as he clambered out of the jeep. “Well, normally that drive takes twenty minutes, and you made it in ten.”
“Oh.” They paused. “So I wasn’t supposed to be going that fast.”
“No.”
“Apologies.” They couldn’t help the grin, the joke, “Perhaps our next meeting will be a driving lesson.”
“If you ever want me in that jeep again it will be.” He chuckled, hand on his heart as he backed away, making a show of getting as far as possible. They waved their hand at him dismissively with a roll of their eyes, turned the jeep around and paused, leaning out the window, watching him pull his keys out and toss them in his hand.
They swallowed, running their tongue over their lip. “Hey, ah, Elliott.”
He turned on his heel, eyebrows raised. “Yeah?”
They opened their mouth, pausing, then closed it again after a moment. “I’ll...I...enjoyed our time together.”
A beat. He pressed his keys, flat palmed, to his stomach. “I...I did too. It was cool to hang out.” He smiled lopsidedly. “See the person behind the mask.”
Something in them warmed and they returned the smile without thinking. “If you are in the area, I promise I won’t pull a knife on you at the door.”
“And I promise I won’t break my ankle beforehand. Uh, again.”
They snorted. He ran over suddenly, digging into his pocket and passing them a sand dusted business card. They quirked an eyebrow. He was gripping the keys tightly. “If you got a phone, y’know.”
“Mm.” They glanced again, surprised by the plainness, thinking that there should be at least one picture of his own face on the thing, but it was entirely minimalist.
“See you,” he said, quickly retreating to his car.
“See you,” they called after, stalling for no particular reason until they saw his back lights turn on.
They headed out, back in the warm wood of their home. They tossed their keys on the kitchen table and got a glass of water before falling back onto their bed. Artur glided over and landed on the dip of their belly as they reached for the knob on the radio, rolling out long forgotten rock that rolled over them, down the bed. Onto the empty hearth of the fireplace, settling over the floor like a mist.
It drew their eyes towards the kitchen while they gently pet Artur’s feathers, guided them to the table where they paused only a second on the mask pieces and then focused on the chair. One that had not seen company in years, but had taken it so well. Better than they’d thought. They brushed a finger over Artur’s beak and dug into their pocket, pulling out the business card and staring at the number. They gently picked up Artur and placed him at the end of the bed, then took the stack of books from the spare chair and put them aside, pulling the chair to its place across from the other.
They sat on the chair and looked at the one across from them.
They breathed deeply, placed the card on the table, pulled out their phone and opened up their contacts

Chapter Six: Scared
He said, I can make you scared, it's kind of what I do
💀💀💀💀💀💀
You stared at the message. You really weren’t sure about this phone thing. It was awkward and you typed so slow, even though you had no idea how to respond. But, as always, Steve was persistent. He wanted a picture and after a lengthy struggle with the camera, you managed to take one and send it. Just a smile, but he wanted more. You insisted you needed to go to bed and his acceptance, even via font, was terse.
You hated the phone. It was like he was with you all the time. You dressed in the early morning dim and set off for your opening shift. It would be just you until noon that morning. You muted your phone and left it in your bag as you went about loading pans into the ovens and turning on all the lights.
You took the chairs down in the small lounge area and straightened the tables. You sorted the loaves by expiration, hoping the older ones would sell that day so they didn’t end up in the trash. The time passed quickly and you were soon selling breads and buns to the locals.
When Babs arrived, she sent you on your break and you had your usual homemade sandwich in the corner with a small tea. Your bag vibrated on the chair and you pulled it out. The battery icon flashed as you opened the deluge of messages.
‘You there?’ was the most recent from your only contact.
You pondered over the screen and sent a quick response. ‘Just working. Phone battery low.’
He sent a winky face before the phone beeped and shut down entirely. You shrugged and dropped it in your bag. A happy coincidence or deliberate negligence. You’d worry about when you got home. Plug it in then and face the music.
Babs sent you off with a box of stale, or soon-to-be stale, muffins and you cut through the back streets which ran parallel to the main stretch. An extra five minutes on your walk but it kept you from any unexpected meetings.
As you stepped through the front door, the house was quiet. Your father was snoring on the couch but your mother was nowhere to be found. Not even in the kitchen. You set down the muffins and your bag slumped to your elbow. You headed down the hall and found your door slightly ajar.
You nudged it open to find your mother at your bed. The bag of clothes Steve had bought you spread across your mattress as she held up a sparkly thong. Your heart dropped as you tossed your bag on the floor. She spun to face you, her expression a mix of disgust and shock.
“Your father was right,” She hissed and threw the panties at you. “What are you doing with that-- that criminal?!”
“Ma,” You caught the panties and flung them on the bed as you came closer. “You saw what he did to Pa; what he would’ve done.”
“And you just stood there,” She snapped.
“And you!” You retorted. “Just like you let Pa beat you. I should’ve just said nothing at all and let him have it.”
“We’re your family,” Your mother sneered. “Do you understand what you’re doing? People will talk!”
“People already talk about us!” You spat. “They say you’re some crazy lady and that Pa is a lush and you know, I think they’re right.”
“Has he touched you? Did you let that man touch you?”
“All I’ve done is defend you. Both you and Pa, and why?” You narrowed your eyes. “I spend my days in a fucking bakery just to keep this shit hole in your name and you call me a slut?”
“Don’t swear.” She lowered her voice. “And I never said that.”
“Get out of my room,” You demanded. “Now.”
“Don’t speak to me like that in my house--”
“That I pay for as you give every cent to that slob to go drink away,” You huffed. “So just leave me alone. Like you always did.”
You went to the door and waited. Horrified, she crossed the room and you made to close the door as she stepped into the hall. She turned back.
“Sweet pea--”
You slammed the door in her face. There was no lock, she had made sure of that. You stormed over to your bed and grabbed the large plastic bag. You stuffed them all inside and dropped it at the end of the bed. You fell onto the mattress and buried your head under the pillow and yelled.
You’d never felt so completely trapped.
💀
You stayed like that until it was dark out. You just stewed in your self-pity and helplessness. You didn’t move until you heard a gentle tapping. You rolled over and opened your eyes. You sat up and rubbed your forehead as it sounded again. It took you another set of rhythmic taps to realise it was at the window.
You rose, the blouse you wore wrinkled and untucked from your work pants. You flicked on the light and neared the window. A shadow stood outside and you barely held back a frightened shout.
Steve smiled in at you as he bent slightly to look in. He motioned to the lock on the top of the lower pane and you reached out to unlatch it. You slid the window open, confused and surprised. He grabbed the window sill and poked his head through.
“I’ve been messaging,” His smile fell. “But you haven’t been answering.”
“I… It was a long day…” You peered past him. “How did you-- Why are you here?”
“Should I come through the front door?” He lifted a brow. “I’m sure your ma will welcome me right in.”
“No, no,” You gestured for him to lower his voice. “Steve… I was napping and I’m-- I’m very tired.”
Before you could argue further, he was pulling himself through the window. You backed up and watched in shock as he easily swung his other leg over the sill. He stood and pushed the window closed without looking. He licked his lips as he looked around your room.
“Steve, you really shouldn’t--”
“You should answer me when I message you,” He put his hands on his hips. “Next time, I won’t be so understanding.”
“My… My phone’s dead,” You blinked and glanced over at your purse.
“Then plug it in,” He ordered.
You took a breath and went over to the door and retrieved your purse from beside it. You took out your phone and crossed the room to grab the plastic bag from the end of the bed. You fished out the charger at the bottom of the mess and fumbled as you plugged it in next to your bed. You set down the phone on your dresser as Steve’s boots made the floorboards groan beneath the worn blush rug.
The plastic crinkled as you turned back and he huffed as he looked inside. He shoved his arm in and pulled out the same sparkly panties your mother had been so offended by. He popped the tags of and held them up with his index.
“I’ve been dying to see these on,” He said as he stepped closer.
You stared at him. He wiggled his finger and you snatched them from him. He smirked and sat on your bed. The frame gave a whine at his weight. The twin was barely big enough for you but had held up through the years. You sucked in your lip and looked down at the thong.
“Surprise me,” He closed his eyes as he leaned back on his hands.
“I… I can’t,” You kept your voice soft. “My parents--”
“If they wanna get nosy, I’ll deal with them,” He opened one eye and nodded. “You’ve got one minute, doll.”
He closed his eyes and a shiver crawled up your spine. You got as far from him as you could. You went to the antique vanity you’d inherited from your grandmother as a child. The mirror was loose in its frame and the painted wood was chipped.
You faced away from Steve as you placed the thong on the desk. You unbuttoned your blouse enough to pull it over your head and sat to remove your shoes and socks, forgotten in your inhospitable homecoming. You shimmied out of your pants and hesitated as you hooked your fingers in your underwear.
You nearly tripped out of them as you built your courage to pull them down. It took tries to get your legs in the right holes of the thong and you tugged it into place. You glanced in the mirror as the sparkles caught your eye in the reflection. You turned away quickly and folded your hands over your pelvis.
“Okay,” You squeaked.
Steve opened his eyes and looked you over. His lip twitched as his brows shot up.
“Come here,” He pointed in front of him.
You were shaking. You’d never been around a man, anyone really, with so little clothes. Your steps were small, reluctant. He reached out to draw you closer.
“Hot,” He pulled your hands apart as he admired the panties. “But…” He looked up and cupped the plain cups of your bra. “This needs to go.”
“I…” You inhaled and felt as if your legs would crumple beneath you. “Steve, please, I never-- I can’t--”
“It’s okay to be scared,” He purred and kissed your stomach. “I can help you. You just have to listen.”
“You should go,” You breathed.
He scoffed and pushed his shoulders back. He slipped his leather coat off and let it fall around his body. He tapped his toe, his eyes never left you.
“Get that bra off.” His voice was stern. “Now.”
You swallowed and slowly reached back. You struggled to unhook your bra as Steve stood to fold his jacket over your dresser then fell back onto the bed. He stretched across the small mattress, his boots hanging off the foot. As you let your bra sag and it slid down your arms, he watched intently. He spread his arm out and gestured you to the bed.
You neared and he caught your wrist. He drew you down so that his arm was beneath your neck and his other hand tickled your thigh. He carefully but deliberately explored your body. He lingered on the panties and played with the thin strap and traced the vee of fabric.
His hand continued upward and he cupped your tit. You trembled as he nuzzled your temple, his breath hot on your cheek.
“You don’t have to be afraid of me, doll,” He coaxed. “I only want to make you feel good.”
“Steve,” You tensed against him as he toyed with your nipples. They were hard and sensitive to his touch. “It’s…” You stopped his hand. “It’s too much.”
“Shhh,” He kissed your cheek. “You don’t want your ma or pa to hear us.”
“Please,” You pleaded and he pushed your hand away from your chest.
“Tell me, did you ever touch yourself? In this bed?” He hummed. “All alone in this room, night after night, you must have.”
“Touch myself?” You stuttered. “I… never…”
“Never?” His hand crawled up to your neck and he grasped your chin. He turned your head and kissed you. He was hungry but patient. He drew away slowly. “What a pity.”
His hand brushed back down your chest and over your stomach. He rubbed the fabric of the panties and you squeezed your legs together. He pinched your thigh then forced his fingers between them.
“I don’t want to hurt you, doll.” His threat was softened by his dusky tone.
You let him part your legs and gasped as his finger brushed lower. He shoved the panties aside and you tried to push your thighs back together. He gave a tut in warning. You went limp and he pressed his fingers along your folds. You shuttered and let out a pathetic squeak. He moved his fingers slowly and you felt an odd tingle.
“Doesn’t that feel good, doll?’ He cooed. “Hmm?”
You gritted your teeth against a whine. His fingers swirled around your clit and sent ripples through you. You clapped your hand over his and he pressed his lips to yours. He kissed you as if to devour you and his hand never wavered. He parted and his hot breath tickled your skin.
“Shhh,” He whispered. “We don’t want anyone to hear, do we?”
He kissed you again and you tilted your pelvis against his hand. You were set off-kilter by the ripples sent through you as the fear trickled along your spine. It felt so good but so wrong. His hand moved faster and he pressed harder.
You grasped his bicep as the waves overwhelmed you and your cry was stifled by his mouth. He kept on until you were whimpering and weak. Tugging on his arm as your cunt was overwrought and tender. As he pulled away, you peered up into his eyes. Stunned and embarrassed.
“Wasn’t that nice, doll?” He put his slick fingers to his tongue and licked them. “You taste sweet.”
You closed your eyes and turned your face from him; mortified. He shifted on the bed beside you and you heard the soft glide of a zipper. The bed creaked, your bodies flush on the small mattress. You on your back, Steve on his side as his arm snaked around you.
He took your hand and wrapped your fingers around something thick and firm.; warm flesh that twitched as you held it. He guided your hand along his cock and you gasped. He led a steady motion and groaned.
“Just like that,” He let go and grabbed your chin. “Keep going.” You kept your strokes even as his muscles tensed. “Open your eyes.”
Your eyes snapped open and you looked into his fearfully. Your gaze slipped down and you saw yourself playing with him. He turned his hand and shoved two fingers past your lips. He pressed down on your tongue and breathed against your cheek.
“Faster,” He hissed and you obeyed. “That’s it, doll.”
He hummed as he gripped your jaw tighter and your lips closed around his fingers. He chuckled and dragged his lips along your temple.
“You’re gonna make me cum, doll,” He purred. “That’s all you. You’re... so fucking sweet. You don’t even know--”
He inhaled sharply and spasmed against you. You felt a heat seep over your hand and Steve pulled his fingers from your mouth. He slowed your strokes until you were still, his cum strung along your hand and thigh. You could feel his heartbeat as your own hammered in your ears.
Your hand fell to your side. You were paralysed. Steve kissed you again, this time softer. He fell onto his back, crushed between you and the wall.
“I’m gonna pick you up after work tomorrow,” He said breathily. “I want you to wear the red dress… no panties.”
You were quiet as you stared at the ceiling. You felt dirty and used. And yet you felt good. Your core still pulsed as your thighs brushed together.
“Got it?” He asked.
“Yes,” You whispered. “The red dress.”

During Timeskip Hugs from the Resident Hugmeister: Black Eagles Baby!
These are your friends, cohorts, partners in crime, besties, comrades in arms. It has been rough the last few months. With losing Byleth at the battle at Garreg Mach they seem to be lost, doubtful of their skills, angry or just plain sad.
You have your sad days, but they do not rule over you. You learn from mistakes, pick yourself up by the bootstraps and keep moving. How easy it would be to settle into the melancholy and sadness of it all. But that is not you. Polly Positive. Sally Smiley. Penelope Positivity. After the storm, the clouds part and the sunshine comes back, and that is you. If anyone can get these Cranky Crabbyfaces back to smiling again, it must be you.
After a nutritious breakfast of two eggs and bacon, placed specifically as a smiley face on your plate for encouragement, you head out on your mission.
Leaving the cool darkness of the palace corridor you spy Caspar heading to the training grounds. “Caspar!” you scream happily at the brawler who looks up from the pavement towards you. Throwing your arms high in the air, your hands waving like the branches of the trees in the delightful spring breeze, you continue to call his name and laugh as you run straight for him.
Caspar notices you are not slowing down. He bends his knees slightly and holds his hands out, still unsure as to what is happening.
You crash into him, throwing your arms around him and laughing all the while. The impact causes you both to spin around in a full circle.
“What the…OOoof!” Caspar gasps as he is crashed into. “Hey, if you’re going to attack me, let’s go into the training grounds!”
“Hug attacks can happen anywhere, you know that!” You smile seeing his eyes brighten a bit.
“If I’m gonna get attacked, a hug attack is the best kind.” Caspar smiles back at you.
“I wonder what would happen if I did that to Hubert?” You think out loud.
“He would let you get really close then warp away.” Caspar snickers
You laugh back, “Yeah, then I’d crash face first into a bush.”
Waving goodbye to Caspar, you head back inside through a different door. Turning down a hallway you arrive at the recluse of the group. Gently knocking at the door you wait for acknowledgement.
“Bernie’s not here.” Says a voice from inside the room.
“Aww. I have something I want to talk about with her and I have something to give her.” You speak softly so she has to come closer to the door to hear you.
“Um…you can just leave it at the door and a note.” The timid voice calls back.
“I can’t do that. What if someone takes it? It is best if I deliver it personally.”
“Well, if it is just you, I guess it is okay.” You hear the door unlock and a scrambling on the other side.
Waiting a few seconds, you slowly open the door, peeking your face in. “Hi.” You call as you meet her glance. Bernie is curled up on her bed in her blanket on the far side of the room.
You walk into the room and sit cross legged on the floor, hands on your knees. “So I’ve noticed you have the most beautiful handkerchiefs. Do you embroider them yourself?”
“They’re nothing special.” Bernie frowns.
You reach into your pocket, slowly pulling out your handkerchief. “This is nothing special. Very plain, no embellishment, no pizzazz. I have seen yours. They are beautiful and I really like them.
“Y-you do?” Bernie pulls out one of her creations. It has purple thread around the outside making a scalloped pattern, green vines weaving back and forth, with delicate purple hyacinths gathered in a yellow bow at each corner.
“Look at that! So much intricate artwork. I’ve seen your dresses, your socks, gloves. You put your special touch and love into everything. I have a request, I’d like to learn from you. Would you teach me to do some needlework?”
“Bernie doesn’t do anything special.” She looks down, hiding her face.
“Bernie does awesome, amazing, beautiful things. Definitely special.” You nod.
She plays with her fingers. “Do you really think so?”
“I really know so!” You happily reply.
“MMmmm. Okay. I will show you some embroidery techniques.” Bernie even gives a half smile.
“I think it’s time for part two of what I came here for. Can I give you a hug?” You smile.
“You don’t have to.” She looks a bit undecided.
You smile wider, “Would you like me to?”
Bernadetta thinks out loud. “Your hugs are nice.”
You slowly get up and sit on the bed next to her and hold your arms open. You slowly put your arms around her, sitting there cheek to cheek as you slowly rub up and down the center of her back. After a few minutes she gives a heavy relaxed sigh. You hug her for a few more minutes until she finally sits back.
“Thank you Bernie.” You say your goodbyes as you are ready for your next conquest.
Linhardt is next on your list. You head to the infirmary to find him writing some notes at a desk to the side of the room. He looks up just as you enter.
“Ah. I have been expecting you.” The tall healer stands, stretching his arms above his head.
You have a puzzled look on your face.
“Caspar told me you hugged him earlier. I believe I would be entitled to one as well.” He says, you’re not sure if that was a question or statement of fact. It is hart to tell with Linhardt.
“If it would please you and provide a bit of comfort, then yes, you are absolutely entitled.”
“Excellent. I have determined the absolute perfect position and posture for my hug.” Linhardt says, taking your hand. He walks you to the closest patient bed, telling you to sit down. He then proceeds to the opposite side of the bed, sits and turns to face you, requesting you face him. You then hug each other, your nose buried in his collar. His robes are so soft against your cheek. Slowly he leans back, pulling you down with him. You have fallen into the Lin nap trap while hugging him. It takes you several minutes moving slowly so you don’t wake him, yet getting him to disengage from continuing to hug you closer to him.
Shaking your head to wake yourself up, honestly Lin’s sleepiness is contagious, it is so hard to not take a nap, but you are a hugger on a mission! You head out to the gardens for fresh invigorating air. You spy two beautiful flowers amongst the roses, Petra and Dorothea.
“Are you two out here making the flowers jealous?” You laugh.
Petra greets you with a hug. The princess is such an amazing and strong woman you think as you happily sigh while wrapping your arms around her for a firm and warm hug.
Dorothea explains that it is simply too nice of a day to be cooped up inside. You certainly agree with her as you hug her warmly as well.
You wander the gardens for a few minutes until you reach the exterior of the palace’s atrium. Entering in the side door you spy Emperor Edelgard sitting at a table enjoying her afternoon tea.
“Beautiful afternoon, El. You should have your tea outside.” You encourage her.
She shakes her head with a soft smile. “No, if I go outside I will be too tempted to not come back in. Please, join me for tea.” She waves a hand at the empty seat next to her.
You approach, bow, then take a seat. She pours you some of her heavenly smelling Bergamot tea. The two of you sit and chat. Not about work or war, but about normal and mundane things. It gives you both a chance to pretend that things are normal, that for a few moments there is no war, no battle in a few days. It is a lovely break from reality. Finally, she stands, apologizing, however work waits for no one, not even the Emperor.
You stand as well, giving her a warm hug, thanking her for a few moments of respite.
The door to the Prime Minister’s office is almost always open. Ferdinand von Aegir would not want anyone to feel as if they could not approach him. You stand in the door way, watching him for a moment. His brow furrowed in concentration as he writes some important document that he intends to improve the world with.
You knock on his already open door to alert him to your presence.
“Come in, come in! Just let me finish this, take a seat!” He offers a hand to a chair across from his desk that is covered with papers in different stacks and arrangements. Finally, he replaces his quill in its holder and closes the top to his ink pot.
“Splendid to see you today. You are looking very well. To what do I owe this pleasure?” He smiles widely as he places a stray strand of hair behind his ear.
“Actually, I do require your assistance, as I have a task that cannot be completed all by myself.” You begin.
Ferdinand immediately stands and begins checking the stacks on his desk. “Anything you need, I’m certain we can provide. Troops, materials, horses…”
“Oh, no, you do not have to go to such trouble. This is a simple request.” You smile.
Ferdie looks a bit puzzled. It seems that everyone is asking for more soldiers or food or something to be distributed. “A simple request?” he repeats.
“Yes, if you would come to this side of the desk please.” You nod.
Confusion is written across his face as he carefully steps around the furniture, watching you stand as he comes closer.
Holding your arms open you grin. “Ferdie, I can’t hug you without you being here. C’mere!” you laugh as you throw your arms around his waist, burying your face in his chest as he hugs you back. You feel the vibrations of his chest as he heartily laughs.
“This is an amazing request! No requisition forms, or begging Hubert to reassign troops to a different area.” He grins, hugging you a bit closer.
“Thank you. Is there anything I can help you with? You haven’t been to dinner with all of us in quite some time.”
“I believe that is an excellent idea. I am at an acceptable place to pause, so let us enjoy everyone’s company over a fine dinner.” He smiles as he offers his arm to lead you to the dining hall.
Dinner is delightful, a few more smiles are at the table than there were yesterday. A certain dark mage is not present, again.
“El, is Hubert here today or out on business?” You ask.
She frowns as she thinks. “He is here, probably in some dark corner working himself to death instead of eating like he should.”
“I think I will look for him and try to get him to eat a bit.” You reply.
Edelgard smiles at that and nods in agreement. Excusing yourself from the table you begin the hunt. Finding a needle in a haystack is much easier than finding the Imperial Spy Master in the Imperial palace. You have been to every place you can imagine him to be, twice! During your fourteenth or was it sixteenth trip between his quarters and his office, you hear a noise making you suddenly spin around. He had been hiding from you, of course.w
“Hubert! Hold still this instant!” You furiously frown, stamp your foot, and ball your hands into fists as you order him to cease.
“Normally I’m the one with the unsettling glare.” He chuckles.
“I have been on a mission all day and you have been quite elusive. Now, hold still.” You march straight up to the Dark Mage, threading your arms between his and his torso, reaching into the center of his back and pulling him close to you. He tries to step back to assess what is going on, however you hold him closer with your cheek held firmly against the lower portion of his chest (he is really that tall, wow).
“You are hugging me.” Hubert states.
“Oooh, king of observation. Yeah, hugging you. Last one to mark on my list. Everyone had to have a hug today, you included. Since you evaded me for quite some time, you will be charged with enduring a longer and warmer hug than the others since apparently you need it more than them.”
“First you chastise me, then you punish me with additional hugging? For anyone else I would consider it unusual behavior, however you are rather clingy and unusual.“ Hubert says as he pulls his arms around to lightly return the hug.
You continue to hug him, rubbing your cheek into his chest and sigh happily.
“I have matters to attend to, are we finished?” Hubert asks.
“No.” You squeeze him tighter. “Promise me you will eat something before bed tonight. The Emperor supports this request.”
Hubert looks flustered, not sure what to do with this person latched onto his chest. He pats your head as he looks around, hoping nobody is coming down the hall. “
Finally you release him. Hubert is nearly to the end of the hall before you can yell, ”Thank you!” to him.

Hi, could you do a scenario or headcanons of a reader who feels like a burden towards everyone? And they can’t really speak up about it so the become more withdrawn x bakugo? Fluff pls
Useless
Tumblr media
A/N anon hopefully this is what you wanted and needed. I know it's hard but be kind to yourself my lovely bbs
If you had one word to describe yourself what would it be?
A few come to mind as you reread the question on the board.
Troublesome.
Burdensome
Useless.
You flick your mechanical pencil as you debate writing them. If you write them down won't that be a red flag to someone?
This is an assignment after all. Aizawa Sensei is sure to read it and either, one, give you an F in red ink, or two, give you an F in red ink AND a lecture.
Neither will help your mood.
The bell rings but you don't notice, too absorbed in the question truly trying to find a positive word that might have a sliver of truth to it. Several minutes pass and still you do not notice the rest of the class shoving papers into backpacks shuffling out. Now long gone already half way to the dorm.
Nor do you notice the looming body in front of your desk with a deadly gaze.
"Oi." You jump out of your skin from the sudden harsh tone. The hot head narrows his gaze.
"Its been almost twenty minutes moron. They're gonna eat all the fucking food at the dorm if you don't get your ass in gear." He snarls, red eyes staring down his nose.
"Ah sorry B..Bakugou-senpai." Your hands shake as you gather your stuff, damning yourself for not noticing the cues.
You had told All Might and Aizawa that you didnt belong in the hero course, let alone UA.
Anyone would have jumped in front of that semi truck to save the little girl and her cat.
Anyone would have turned their body just right to take the brunt of the force to keep the girl and cat safe.
It's not like you even did that well, sure they were left with out a scratch but you still wrecked that truck. You weren't *fast* enough to move out of the way, so the front of the truck wrapped around your sturdy frame as if it were an old jacket.
You were lucky the driver wasn't quirkless, that he could harden his skin much like Kirishima.
Bakugou sucks his teeth as he begins to leave you behind.
"W...wait please." You say but trip over the chair in front of you that juts out of the normal neat line.
"Pay attention." He growls and you shrink away, walking slowly behind him.
You add oblivious to the ever growing list.
You watch Bakugou with steady eyes. You had seen him at the sports festival, confident, cocky and passionate to a fault. He had a deft, sharp gaze, strategic and an extremely powerful quirk that he almost mastered. His only downfall would be his temper but it was hard to enrage him enough to act without thinking in a battle.
You admired all of class 1A. You knew their weaknesses, what they liked and who they liked but it was Bakugou your eyes gravitated to the most.
Though you did not consciously realize it yourself.
You reach the dorms as a cold gust of wind whips through you, biting down harshly on your bones. You made it easy what with your jacket lying on your bed, your grit your teeth but they still chatter.
Bakugou sucks his teeth and you shrink further.
"Where's your jacket?" He asks harshly although he is sure it's in your dorm room since it wasn't on the couch like it normally was. Since winter started it had become a daily ritual for him to grab your coat and yell.
"It uh..." You swallow knowing you cannot lie to him, "Its on my bed I think."
"Moron." He mutters baring his teeth, he opens the door to the dorm for you, "Good thing we are home then."
"Y..yea. Thank you Bakugou-senpai." You rush inside, hand resting on the handle to the stairwell. Anything to get from under his gaze.
"Y/N!" Kirishima pops out of the kitchen with a smile, "Dinner is in five okay?"
"Thank you, Kirishima-san but I am not feeling well." You feel needles prickle your back and swear you hear a soft popping sound.
"Oh okay. Is there anything I can do?" He asks softly, "Like some hot tea?"
"Um no thank you Kirishima-san." You pull open the door but he speaks a final time.
"Please call me Ejirou! Tomorrow is yours and Katsuki's turn to make breakfast. Let me know if you aren't feeling well enough to do it."
Fuck how could you forget. Was there even breakfast food in the house? You'd have to check later. Right now you wanted to be alone.
"I should be fine." You say ripping open the door just before Bakugou shakes his head in displeasure.
You flop on your bed as you think and think hard about your life and how you ended up here.
Saving one kid and her cat didn't make you a hero.
In fact every adjective you could think of today for that assignment proved that you weren't.
You were timid, selfish, sometimes ungrateful, irritable, childish, and reclusive.
Does that describe a hero?
No, no it does not.
You do not bother to change out of your school uniform as sleep begins to weigh heavy on your body, you are apathetic for your future self as you know your bra and your thigh highs will be leaving angirly marks on your sturdy frame.
Still you sleep, longing for it after not being able to catch a wink last night.
A knock comes at your door and you jump to your feet, fists ready before another impatient knock comes your way.
"Oi, Y/N. Open up." His voice is like razor blades across your skin as you've been caught for the thousandth time.
"Just...just a minute senpai." You stammer noting the tsk from the other side of the door. You attempt to straighten your hair as best you can, knowing full well he will fuss at you for sleeping in your uniform as it will wrinkle the skirt to seem shorter. You open the door to a surprise as disapproving eyes rove over your body.
"What did I tell you about napping in your uniform?" He bites, "Its always my week for laundry when you do and ironing the skirts are a bitch."
He pushes past you with tray in hand, a small bowl of soup and steaming tea slosh gently as he places it onto your desk. His eyes linger over your open journal you've left out and fear curdles in your stomach. Your face flushes as you swipe at the notebooks like a cat, knocking them from your desks, praying he did not read yesterday's depressing entry. You give an awkward smile as red eyes watch the tumbling pages.
"I..I don't want soup to get on them. Um thank you." You bow slightly.
"Kirishima made me bring it to you." He puts his hands in the pockets of his black sweatpants as he makes he way to exit, "Be sure to eat it while it's hot baka."
"Yes!" Is your only response as your door slams shut and you groan. Unzipping your skirt and tossing it to the floor before practically ripping the buttons off of your blouse to add it to the pile. You look over the warm soup and wonder how Kirishima knew Zenzai was your favorite.
Your eyes flutter from the taste, you consume it in haste, even drinking the broth striaght from the bowl. You send him a text thanking him for the delicious meal and all you get back is a question mark. You ignore it thinking maybe that was intended for someone else.
Somehow in the middle of doing your homework at your desk and daydreaming in the late hours of the night you had fallen asleep.
The sun filters in gently telling you that it is still early morning and Saturday at that. You let your eyes flutter closed before jolting upright, notebook pages cling to your cheek as you hit your phone to check the time.
No response but a black screen comes from your phone. You dont understand it the charger is clearly plugged into the port, you brought the cord over here for this very reason! You rip the paper from your cheek and follow the white cord just to groan angirly.
Phone did a lot of good to be charged when you SHOVED THE PRONGS INTO THE DRYWALL INSTEAD OF THE FUCKING OUTLET TWO CENTIMETERS AWAY.
Bullish makes it's way onto your mental list adding along side it foolish as your scramble for clothes hoping that it's still early enough to beat Bakugou to the kitchen.
You were supposed to get the ingredients for breakfast but you never even checked last night.
"FUCK!" You scream whisper as all that is clean in a bralette, crop top hoodie and leggings.
Items you would not normally wear when the boys were home thanks to the oogling eyes of Mineta.
You rush down the stairs two at a time as you stumble into the kitchen. Ripping a cabinet door off of its hinges in your haste causing you to stand perfectly still as you collected yourself. There was no bullshitting yourself out of this one by putting it back gently and letting the next person think it was broken.
Not with the screws with brackets attached hanging from the door. You place it behind the trash can and root through more cabinets only for your heart rate to increase.
"The fucking fridge!" You remind yourself as you fling open the door only for dinner meats to be available.
"Fuck." You hiss but there was still time, you had beaten Bakugou, that was enough time to go to the convenience store and pretend you were planning to go the morning of the whole time.
You rush to the door, slipping on your converse, you reach out to the hooks by the door for your hand to come up empty. Your hook is vacant, no jacket in sight when normally your jacket was there in the morning like magic. You damn yourself for having left it upstairs. There was no time to go back upstairs, every second was precious. You fling open the door only to be met with a red cheeked Bakugou, the wind whipping into the house with the threatening smell of snow.
Nothing more threatening than the look Bakugou was serving you.
"I know God damn well you were not stupid enough to think you could go out like that?" Pops ring out even beneath his gloves as he pushes past you with an armful of plastic bags.
Bags filled with ingredients for breakfast.
Your eyes burn with welling tears as the logo for the corner store etches itself into your retinas. Bakugou notices as he kicks off his shoes.
"Oi, you can cook. It will be fucking fine." He says passing the bags to you so he can shed his coat. You nod furiously biting your lip.
"See you wouldn't have lasted long with out a jacket." He tilts your face to his, it is harsh like his tone yet his eyes seem...soft as he speaks again, "The wind is bad enough it has you tearing up from just a few seconds of exposure."
"Ah..." You swipe at your reddening cheeks as he let's your chin drop, "Th..thank you Bakugou-sama."
"Yea yea just start cooking damn it. I'm starving." He hisses as he makes his way into the living room.
Shameful loops itself onto your long list.
You ready the griddle with bacon and mix the ingredients for homemade pancake mix quickly. You crank up the heat when you hear your other classmates stir in the living room.
"Bakugou please my favorite anime is on!" Denki whines loudly enough to be heard before a small explosion erupts. You peek into the living room to watch the exchange.
"I got here first dunce face fuck off and die." He growls, "Plus you only like that show for the big fake tits."
You giggle before a burning smell begins to tickle your nose, frantically you rush back into the kitchen. You've successfully burned half of the ration of bacon. You hide your mistake by sliding the slices of bacon into the trash. Maybe Bakugou wouldn't mind too much to cook the rest of the ingredients. You think you'll do better with the pancakes.
They sat like the internet said for them too. You even added some chocolate chips. You place a few on the hot griddle and flip them when the center begins to bubble. When a perfectly tan pancake winks back at you six times you bounce on the balls of your feet.
You could at least do something right. You place them on a plate and begin to do more adding different things here and there.
Bakugou walks in, a grimace on his face when he spies the cabinet door. Your cheeks burn but he spares you by not mentioning it.
He spies the half a pack of bacon uncooked and the rest discarded in the trash.
"Oi..." He watches your face sour and changed his mind on his comment, "Did you get the butter and syrup out?"
"No not yet." You flip another six perfect pancakes as he rummages through the fridge and the doorless cabinet.
"Pancakes look good." He says as he sets the stuff down, grabbing on and settling by the uncooked bacon, "Since they look so good I'll cook the bacon."
"Th..thank you Senpai."
"Don't fucking mention it." He says before taking a bite of the pancake. You watch and your stomach sours as a shudder goes through him with grimace painted lips.
"Oh no." You murmur and he keeps his eyes shut. He cannot bring himself to tell you it is awful. You grab onto a cake biting into it only to have a soapy after taste, your eyes water from both the unpleasant after taste immediately identifying your mistake as you think back to what went wrong. You put double the amount of flour called for into the batter and only the normal amount of everything else.
Stupid makes it's way right beneath useless on the list.
"It smells so good in here." Kirishima's eyes become delighted when he sees the stacked up cakes of various additions. Your eyes widen as you watch him in slow motion bringing the awful pancake to his lips. Irrationality forces your hand as you slap the pancake from his hand, surprising the three of you in the room. It hits the tile with a light slap before time speeds up again. You grab onto the plate and throw it all away pancakes and all.
"Suddenly I'm not feeling so well again, I think I may be sick and I don't want anyone else to catch it. Sorry for the inconvenience, Kirishima-senpai." You bow slightly before rushing to the stairwell fighting burning tears.
The door shuts with a loud pang and the slap of your footsteps fight with the thoughts in your head. You burst into your dorm room slamming the door and sliding down it.
Fat drops fall from your cheeks as you angrily wipe them away, sobbing harshly as you relive your failure over and over as if on repeat.
Watching Bakugou fight back a comment or possibly a gag as he tasted your food.
Melodramatic is scrawled into your brain.
Time ticks by and you avoid people at all costs, claiming to be ill. Even to go as far as avoiding training all through winter and well into spring.
You left class faster than anyone could stop you, running to the dorms to hole yourself up in your room. You did your share of the chores in the middle of the night or while the group was out and about. You were always invited depsite all of the ignored texts you had. Each person in your class trying their luck on asking you out of your room. All save one ash blonde.
Whenever an impatient knock came at your door you would become completely still, even going as far as holding your breath. As if you were prey who spotted a large predator that may not have noticed you just yet.
Eventually they would leave, setting some sort of item by the door. More often than not it was your favorite meal and a fresh set of clothes.
But today is a little different, today your door is blasted from its hinges with a sharp look staring you down. Deadly hands smoking, threatening to pop some more.
"Cut the bullshit Y/N. What's really going the fuck on?" You stare wide eyed at Bakugou in your crop top and leggings in your desk chair.
"I...I just haven't been feeling up to much." You stammer and he closes the distance. Clearly unsatisfied by your answer. He towers over you as you strain to stare up at him.
"I said cut the bullshit. I hate liars." He snarls and it cuts deep.
"Ahh I'm...I'm..." You struggle to come up with something but whatever you said wouldn't have mattered as the man before you blew up anyway. He leans close, gripping onto the arms of the chair causing you to press against the back of it.
But there was no escape from Bakugou Katsuki.
"You're what? Y/N? You're useless? Burdensome? Troublesome? Bullish? Foolish? Shameful? Pitiful? Melodramatic?" He yells and you shrink as if struck, "Shall I fucking go on?"
Your heart shatters with every beat as you stare up at the blonde through thick lashes. Did he think those things about you too?
"That is what you wrote isn't it in your class notebook? Before you crossed them all out?" He asks with a snarl. You gulp down the lie but it lodges in your throat. struggling to get past the quickly forming lump, choking you.
"I..."
"And then you settled for content? Are you content? Is someone who is content always hidden in their room like a damn hermit?" His eyes flicker to your open notebook and you follow, "Does someone who is content write about how sad they are in their journal every fucking day? Avoid theirs friends? Their family? Your mom called the dorm phone CRYING!"
He headbutts you then and your vision blurs.
"What..."
"Yea Y/N. In hysterics. I told her we just had some tough exams to study for. That you were fine and staying off your phone. I knew you were avoiding us but your mom? What the fuck?" You're stunned into silence and it kills him.
It's been killing him, he's hated to see the crestfallen look make a permanent residence on your face. Hated seeing you sneak away like a slinking cat who hates people.
Hated still that you would not come to one of your friends even if it wasn't him. It's why he left you so many care packages, why he demand to see if the other class mates got a reply from you.
Why he lingered in the classroom waiting to walk you.
He could accept you being distant from him and hell even your friends while you were working shit out but your own family? Especially your mother that he knows worries easily.
"There were other words you could have used to describe yourself. Strong. Resilient. Careful. Kind. Thoughtful. But you lingered on useless. Do you know how people get into the hero course?!"
When you don't answer he goes on.
"They are hand picked after the entrance exams. That's it. One look and they knew. Hardly anyone in the history of UA has been transferred to this class. And what happened to you?" His tone and body language are harsh but when you look into those crimson eyes you see something else.
That damn misguided passion. All his feelings masked beneath anger and aggression.
"I...I was transfered Bakugou-sama. From general studies." You finally speak.
"All might saw something he didn't initially see. You got a second look that most do not get. A hard enough second look for you to transfer into class 1A. So dont piss it away with your negative attitude."
"It's just that..." You don't go on. Cant go on. How can you expect your hot headed crush to ever like you back if you don't even like yourself.
He sighs and the anger leaves his body with the steam leaving his skin.
"I'm worried about you." He admits but cannot look you in the eye. Your cheeks burn and you twist your shirt in your shaking hands.
"Senpai..."
"No more senpai." He bites out tilting your face to his, beginning his tirade, "Its Katsuki from here on out. And you're gonna change how you speak to yourself. Instead of saying useless say I need more practice. More focus on this area of my quirk. And if you need help then ask for help God damn it. That's what the teachers are here for. What your classmates are here for. What I'm fucking here for. You got it?" His tone is stern and yet soft as he speaks.
"Yes, K..Katsuki." You whisper, thick eye lashes letting tears slip past. Heated thumbs swipe them away before he leans ever closer. Lips suddenly pressed to yours as you sit shocked in your desk chair. He breaks the kiss and drinks in your red cheeks with a smirk on his face. He lifts you, sits himself in your pink chair before setting you on his lap. All of the seriousness is back on his face before he speaks in a deadly husky tone.
"Now you're gonna be a good little friend and tell me everything."
