First off I’m sorry if none of this makes sense, I somehow misunderstood something in the manga/anime, or if someone else has already touched on this. 

Secondly, MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA!!! (Up to the current chapter 417!)

I have one very important question:

If Izuku is quirkless now, given that all eight of the vestiges have been “transferred”, then how is he still in the vestige realm? 

There are only three possible reasons for this:

Izuku has made OFA his quirk. Maybe by using it in such a unique way, some part of OFA will always remain within Izuku. 

My personal gripes with this theory:

Kind of boring, as we’ve already seen it with All Might.

It ignores the fact that it was Izuku that unlocked all eight(?) quirks.

Izuku, unlike All Might, hasn’t been reduced to a wispy state like vestige!Might. 

I don’t have definitive proof for this, as OFA is mostly likely not gone-gone. But there’s no one left in OFA, at least on Izuku’s side. None of the predecessors. Not even Yoichi as an anchor quirk. 

Since AFO-OFA are “resonating” , Izuku (and Tomura) are immune to regular vestige/quirk rules. For example, being reduced to a being like vestige!Might. 

My personal gripes with this theory:

All the same ones as above.

Although, this is a little less boring. 

If Hori uses this reasoning to delve more into Tomura and Izuku’s connection (OFA-AFO connection), then I wouldn’t hate it. 

It still ignores Izuku’s inherent connection to OFA (unlocking all the quirks, and seeing vestiges without any medical procedures like Tomura). 

My favorite theory that’s come out of the DFO fandom: Izuku has had a quirk all along!

This one makes the most sense.

I won’t go into all the specifics, but if you’re interested Marunalu has gone over the theory several times on their Tumblr. 

It answers everything.

Why Izuku was able to unlock the quirks.

Why Izuku could see the vestiges.

Why Izuku is still in Tomura’s vestige realm despite being “quirkless” now. 

And why Izuku is able to handle several quirks at a time without becoming braindead. 

*All the other ones could maybe be disproven (maybe), but the last point can’t. No amount of quirk singularity can fix how much brainspace a person has. Tomura had to get major surgery to be able to handle AFO (which while different from OFA, both have more than one quirk). Meanwhile, Izuku unlocks his predecessors’ quirks like he’s beating a video game (heh). 

*One other reason that I just thought of while typing this: maybe there’s a AFO vestige in the vault. I’ve seen this theory tossed around for a while now, but I feel like there would have been more proof outside of that one chapter. Alternatively, if there is an AFO vestige kicking around OFA, that could be AFO’s final play. By being the only one left in OFA, there’s no one to protect Izuku from being taken over, or possessed by the AFO quirk. I really hope it isn’t this one, but it would make an excellent fanfic. Especially if combined with DFO and/or Tomura having to be the one to save Izuku. 

Or maybe it’s none of these, and Hori will surprise us. He certainly has before, and I’m 100% sure he will again :D!!

Man In The Mountains

TOMURA SHIGARAKI AU CHAPTER 1.

Note: This is my first MHA fanfic. In this AU our star is Shigaraki Tomura, one of the main villains. If you haven't seen My Hero academia I definitely recommend watching it for fun, but also before reading this. This entire fic is more of "What if" than an actual redemption arc. Basically this whole story is just "What if someone else found Tenko Shimura?"

Summary: Aizawa had the class do some training camp out in the woods- but Midoriya lost his way and ends up finding someone he shouldn't.

It was the third year of UA high when Aizawa announced that as a Spring break activity the student would be going to yet, another training camp out in the woods. The Pussy Cats would likely be assisting them like last time. Hopefully this time- no villains.

No one appeared to be worried though. This time they took safety protocols to the max to ensure not even a stray cat could find them.

It was a long and treacherous bus ride over there, maybe worse than the last. Bakugo became so overrun by boredom and restlessness he nearly blew up the bus, but don't worry it was no more than six times atleast. When they finally arrived everyone knew the drill. Of course, only their training exercises would be much harder. But there was a bonus activity added to the mix: hunting. The Pussy cats announced that there would be a hunting competition on each of the last three days of camp. Basically there was wildlife on the training grounds intentionally ment to roam for this activity. Whoever had the heaviest kill-pile was basically the winner. Bakugo was of course ecstatic when heard this. But at last they had to wait

The pussy cat's made them dinner the first night, and the students had to provide the rest. Later, when everyone was out in their cots, Izuku couldn't sleep. He just kept staring out the window at the moon and the stars which appeared brighter when there was no artificial light to dwarf it. He gazed at it for an eternity, at the same time trying to review notes, and power guides. At the end of the day he drifted off to sleep with his journal on his face on the bed beneath his window.

Luckily, the first few days went by quickly. It was the same thing over and over with different difficulties each time. Without interruption it went by even quicker. Before anyone could take another breath it was already the last three days and everyone was prepping they lended bows and arrows for the hunting expedition. There was a huge plot of land with lots of wildlife to stalk, and they would be given horses to cover more ground. It was a disadvantage in a way because they could be loud, but it moved quicker and tested the student's tolerance and quick thinking.

When the cats raised their paws with flags and waved one stroke down each student rode off in a different direction. Midoriya headed South of lodge. Real south. So south he wondered if he had crossed the line somewhere. But he wanted to get as far away from the others as possible. Mostly from Bakugo. He rode through a heave overhang of trees. He found himself utterly infatuated by the nature. It all seemed very at peace.

That peace didn't last long. There was a rusting in the bushes that got Midoriya's senses tingling. "A villain? An animal?" He turned, ready to ride or die. Unlucky for him a bear charged through the trees roaring aggressively and swiping. Not only did the loud noise startle the horse, but the bear's claws raking against it's hind quarters sent it running for the hills.

Izuku tried to calm the horse down or at least take control, but there was no stopping it. The horse just kept running and running and running until Izuku didn't know where anything was anymore. The adrenaline made him loose his focus on his surroundings and he had no idea where the horse had turned or looped. Then suddenly, the horse jumped and bucked Midoriya off and knocked him out when his head hit the unfamiliar ground.

Izuku opened his eyes slowly, his vision was blurry at first and it took him a while to process what had just happened. He sat up and rubbed his bleeding head, but that wasn't his main concern. Where was he? Where was the horse? Where was the bear?

He saw the hoofprints faintly in the dirt but the faded off into the underbrush. He didn't see or hear a bear so he figured they'd outran it. He stood up a bit dizzy and looked around for any clues. Upon walking for a little while he noticed a house towering on a tall hill above the trees. Instinctively, he ran towards it in hopes of finding somebody who could help. He ran until he was met with a rather nice property. The trees seemed to fade into a brilliant ground of green grass and a house lodged on stilts next to a giant oak tree. Beside that, in front of him, was a small creek with glittering crystal clear water....and a man on a bench!

"Hey! Excuse me! Sir!" Izuku called out to him as he ran closer while still trying to catch his breath. "Sir," he panted. "I'm really sorry to bother you! You see, me and my friend were doing this training camp thing out in the woods with our teacher to enhance our quirks and we were doing this hunting expedition one horse back and a bear came out of nowhere and my horse got spooked and ran quite far then bucked me off and now im lost so may you please help me get back?" Izuku rambled for what seemed like hours. He needed more air from all that talking than from all that running.

The man looked over at him with an alarmed expression at first, his pale face calmed after hearing the situation. Izuku finally managed to look up at him, and was slightly disturbed by this man. He had blood-red eyes, and a scarred dry wrinkled face, despite looking all the more so young.

"Where you from?" The mans voice was high and slightly raspy. "Uh- you know that lodge further up north- I think...i kinda lost my direction." Izuku admitted. The man thought for a moment before a lightbulb lit. "Oh! You mean that place where the cat people live? Sure I can take you back! It's a long walk though, sure ya can make it?" The man stood up.

Izuku nodded. "Thank you very much sir!" He followed accordingly. Walking down the side of the stream and eventually they were surrounded by trees again. The man seemed to know his way around pretty good. "Do you live out here?" Izuku asked. "Yep." Then it hit him. " Oh, I bet you live out here to be left alone right? I'm sorry I really didn't mean to intrude, like I said before i-" Midoriya was cut off. "Don't worry about! It's nice to see other people once in a while." The man gave a warm smile. " Does anyone else live at your residence?" Izuku asked innocently. "Not permanently, there's a maid that comes and goes and a therapist too. That's really all the people I see." The man kept walking with his hand in the pockets of his black hoodie. "By the way sir, I don't think I caught your name?" He looked up at the man who stopped dead in his tracks. He turned to look at Izuku with those flashy red eyes.

"Call me Tenko." He chuckled.

The rest of the walk was quite pleasant. The air was cool and no other animals interrupted them along the way. Izuku was grateful for that. And for Tenko's help! The two had talked the whole way like they had been friends forever, until eventually they were no further than 50 feet away from the lodge. Aizawa stood on the porch and immediately sprinted towards Midoriya the moment he saw him. "Where have you been?!" Aizawa shook Izuku's shoulders. Tenko stood a good ten feet away. "I'm sorry, a bear spooked my horse and bucked me off and I got lost, but then I found Tenko and he helped get back!" Midoriya beamed. Tenko waved, and Midoriya noticed he had two of his fingers covered ina glove material. He wouldn't ask about it now if course.

"Tenko?" Aizawa sounded rather judgemental. "Right that's not far off." He muttered.

"I best be going, though it was pleasant meeting you Izuku!" Tenko returned both hands to his front pocket of the hoodie and turned back towards the trees to head home. "Bye Tenko!" Midoriya called, but Aizawa got in his face in an intimidating manner. "You listen to me, don't ever speak to him again, you hear me?" Aizawa sounded almost threatening. "But why? He seemed so friendly!" Izuku sounded like an oblivious child. "If I am correct, that is Tenko Shimura. No one really knows much about the situations but when he was younger he manifested a quirk that of which murdered his entire family when he was just eight years old. It is unclear if whether those murders were intentional or not but thankfully he was found by a nice lady who happened to be a psychiatrist. Since he was just a child they hid him up here somewhere in a private estate so he wouldn't risk killing any other people, so stay away from him." Aizawa ordered, a turned to go back inside.

Izuku was shocked upon hearing this but he still wasn't convinced he was a bad person. He was still curious-maybe he didn't have to be? But he was.

"hey Midoriya! Come inside and eat now that your finally back!" Kirishima yelled over Izuku's thoughts. "R-right! Coming!" He ran inside, and was met with Bakugo ruffling his hair aggressively. "Where the hell have you been?! Oh well it doesn't matter I still have more meat than you, you damn nerd!" He smirked in triumph. "Yeah, yeah whatever Kachaan." Izuku examined the room filled with foo made by his peers. Tenko still lingered in the back of his mind. He could worry about him right now.

Only, for right now.

I hate when yall write the same kind of personality for self insert fics.

I don’t want to keep seeing the same easily flustered, no backbone, cries a lot Y/N. Here are some versions that I think would work better for each character.

Sweetheart Y/N: Caretaker, blushy, scolds character for not taking care of themselves. Best for slice of life AU’s or as a quirkless character. [Midoriya, Hawks, Dabi, Toshinori, Aizawa]

Goofball Y/N: Silly, playfully sarcastic, best friend type, takes nothing seriously. [Bakugou, Shigaraki, Todoroki, Aizawa]

Bitchy/Bratty Y/N: Tackless, competitive, well meaning, emotionally constipated. [Kirishima, Iida, Midoriya, Bakugou, Sero]

Bestie/Sacrificial Y/N: Fun, overly understanding, forgiving, compassionate, competitive. Best for angst and/or character development. [Dabi, Shigaraki, Bakugou, Aizawa, Hawks.]

More variety please & thank you 🩵 also please make it long

Edit: The way people are bitching about this post is crazy. I legitimately do not care how you write, it’s YOUR writing. But you have options, that is the point. This post was not a personal attack to ANYONE. Just have fun writing and push yourself.
