A few people have compared some of my Soltober drawings this year to characters from other things and like I don't watch TV, keep up with Youtubers, have a Tiktok, or play hardly any video games so I see these comments and it might as well be in Simlish lol "This looks just like Johnrick Sprunkle from Neko no Tabemono Adventure." I don't know what that is. How am I expected to reply to that?? "Ok that's cool" ??????

Obsessed "Baby, Only You!" It filled every inch of my heart with love! May I ask what your fave Beatles album and song are? Mine are Revolver and "Dear Prudence." May I also please make a request for Jack Hughes? Anything more with him and a more stoic/quiet in public girl, would love to see where your incredible mind takes you. The way he understands and defends is just...yes! I needed that lol. Please and thank you!
i’d do it a hundred more.
(JACK HUGHES x reader)
Tumblr media
hey!! thank you so so so much literally this made my day. 🫶🏻
my fav beatle albums def are sgt peppers and help (i adore the movie), and my fav songs are the long and winding road, i want you (she’s so heavy), across the universe, sgt pepper’s lonely hearts club band and julia :))
warnings: no mature subjects, fluff, no proofread (you can tell i never proofread my stuff)
—————
you had always been a quiet kid, stoic and stern looking. that obviously lead to you having a resting bitch face, making not many people approach your phlegmatic gaze.
not many kids were your friends, forcing you to turn your back to society and do things yourself, cold walls lifting to sternly keep out outsiders.
that was,
until jack. he melted those ice walls, wiggling himself in a short period of time, to be the centre of your universe. you fell in love with this man, the way his wide smile made your lips curl into a grin, the way his blue eyed gaze was boyish and gentle, the way he reassured you when a girl tried to get his number and hit on him, he stood up for you, most important of all. he was your everything.
he understood everything about you, your reactions, how you felt in public and how you were the most loud and outgoing person on the inside, when it was just them two, locked away giggling together.
jack held your heart and kept it protected, he knew your past, and you like the back of his hand, so he made it his part to protect you from jabs that people made.
one of his teammates girlfriends took a shot in mocking you and jack was sure to glare at her and tell her off.
“why do you look like that? you aren’t even in jacks league. don’t even pretend you aren’t not trying in the relationship.” the girlfriend snootily said, her boyfriend did nothing in reply to defend you. you glanced towards jack and could see him get angry, so you squeezed his knee, but he still started to yell at the girl, making her jaw drop and her eyes open wide.
“you don’t know her!”
“don’t ever speak about her in that way!”
“don’t speak on our relationship!”
jack roughly grabbed your hand and walked you out.
“you didn’t have to do that.” you said quietly, kicking some tiny rocks on the pavement with your shoe.
“for you? i’d do it a hundred more times.”
—————
sorry if this ain’t any good but

Thoughts on a freaky gojo with a shy reader who's willing to try out all of his interests?
this was an excuse to use my favorite kinks tbh.
warnings: overstimulation, breeding kink, semi-public sex, exhibitionism, consensual recording, marking, possessive behavior, jealousy, him being horny all the time, teasing, bondage, mating press, degradation kink, praise kink, whimpering, pussy slapping, ass smacking.
Tumblr media
at first, when he discovered he liked you, he would get shy and mostly deny he had a crush.
but once he discovers YOU are the one who gets shy the most, oh boy, he won’t stop teasing you
he loved how flustered you get with just a touch.
how your breathing gets heavier any time he gets closer to you.
he loved the innocence look you gave him every time
and that’s why he wanted to corrupt you.
make you cry.
“Aw, c’mon baby, you can do it a few times more? mhm?” the thrusts every time became harder, faster. even though he just came no more than 2 minutes ago, he’s still rock hard. the sound of skin slapping and broken moans where all you could hear in the room, his balls slapping on your ass, and you’re sure there’s going to be a mark at the end of this.
that another thing he loves; marking you.
he hates when you use makeup to hide them when you’re in public. but that’s why he takes you to the closest restroom and makes sure to mark you as his again, but this time with no makeup to cover up.
A whimper coming out of Gojo makes you moan while he thrusts into you. “Shhh baby, we have to keep shut that pretty mouth of yours, you don’t want other people hearing you hm? or are you also into that?
you get scared as fuck when he turns you on in public. the touches aren’t discreet, and he makes sure to make everybody else know that.
it makes you embarrassed to think other ppl know when gojo gets horny.
but how could you blame him?
when you look so hot in that tiny dress he bought for you. when you look so small in his clothes…
“A-Ah~! Don’t stop ‘toru, please…” He chuckled after he took some time to breathe after eating you out. “Please what baby? Words. Gimme words.”
when he fucks you on his office he’ll make sure you’re full of his cum. so once the both of you finish he’ll try to keep the most possible inside of you and make you put your panties on again, so you’re always full of him.
he loves mating press. loves the idea of breeding you, making you his.
he hates when other men look at you even for one second. he’ll fuck you right in front of them if they keep staring at you like that.
“You liked that huh? You like the attention those men give you? Slut.”
and maybe, he’ll make sure of doing that. taking a video of you sucking him off and showing it to their face. he wouldn’t send it, oh no, he’ll get even crazier if other people have a video like this of you that isn’t him.
has a private album just for videos and photos he took of you while doing it.
your hole dripping his cum? he has a photo of it.
you crying from how hard he’s fucking you? he has a video of it.
your small heavy breathes anticipating his next move when his blindfold is covering your eyes? oh man, he loves doing that.
Using his blindfold to wrap your hands, legs, to even shut you up when you’re too loud. he loves it.
“Um…” You stayed quiet for a moment. “A-are you sure… I mean- ‘Toru, don’t you think it’s a little bit too much?…”
it indeed was too much to handle. not in a bad way. every time he slapped your ass with his belt made you moan.
oh how much he loves the marks it leaves.
this was his favorite punishment.
“You don’t have enough with my cock huh?” Slap. “Why don’t you go ask your little friend there-“ Another slap “to fucking fuck you?” Slap. “You whore. You’re just a cockslave.”
every slap he gave to your poor and overstimulated pussy made him harder.
he knows he’s being dramatic over this, but maybe this is just an excuse to fuck you.
don’t get him wrong. even after all that degradation, and hard sex, he still has a part of him that loves you with all his heart.
sloppy kisses.
you every chance he has.
always taking care of you after sex, preparing a warm shower and your favorite snacks to help you relax, telling you how perfect you are for him.
“You don’t know how much I love you pup. You’re the sweetest thing ever, so perfect… so perfect for me. Your body is perfect, your laugh is perfect, shit. Your hair is even perfect on its bad days. I can write a book full of things I love about you, and that still wouldn’t be enough for me to express how much you mean to me. I love you.”

tw for mentions of substance abuse (part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7)
ao3
Steve Harrington has been awake for fifty four hours. With luck, he'll be able to eke out another eighteen. Three days seems to be the sweet spot, even if he only makes it there half the time and, of that half, it only works half the time.
It's better than nothing.
Maybe four days is the sweet spot. Ninety six is close to one hundred, and that seems like a good omen.
Omens don't really matter though. What matters is staying awake.
So, Steve chugs his coffee and walks into the conference room. Coffee isn't enough, not nearly, but it'll do until he gets desperate enough to take something.
He really does try to only take them when he's desperate. It's easier that way, to just do it when he feels like he needs to rather than measuring dosages and remembering times. Hours start to blur around hour forty of being awake.
He walks in, sits down in the chair closest to the door, and is met with a withering glare from Eddie Munson.
Listen. Steve isn't happy about this either, but at least he doesn't look like he stepped in dog shit on the way here. Then again, Steve doesn't have the luxury of ever looking truly unhappy.
Eddie is a rock star. Mean is part of his brand, while mean is the antithesis to Steve's.
Whatever.
"Are you kidding me?" Eddie says, still staring at him, but Steve knows he's not who he's asking.
"He's the best person for the job," Chrissy, Eddie's manager, says.
"We don't need him."
Someone taps Steve's left shoulder. He turns to see Jeff, the lead singer of Corroded Coffin, give him a warm smile.
"Nice to meet you, Steve," he says, and Steve shakes his proffered hand.
"Happy to help," he says, and it's only half a lie.
The drummer and the bassist - Steve would probably be able to remember their names if he wasn't so exhausted - wave their hellos from a few seats away.
"Hi, Steve," Chrissy says.
He takes another swig of his coffee and gives her a little wave in response.
"We don't need a pop singer to write lyrics for us," Eddie says, still not letting this go.
"Yes, you do," Steve says. He sets his coffee cup down on the table and opens the folder he brought with him. "I read through the lyrics of every one of your songs."
"You didn't even listen to them?"
"Would have taken too much time."
That's a lie. Listening, even with the lengthy guitar solos, probably would have taken less time. But Steve needs something to fill the hours when he's supposed to be asleep, and reading, that slow process with its ample, awakening frustration, is the perfect thing.
"You became so much less interesting after your first album," he says. "Every one of your songs talks about the same thing. Conquering evil, killing demons, blah blah blah."
"That's what's in right now," Eddie snaps.
Out of the corner of his eye, Steve catches the drummer and Chrissy make the same motion. They pinch the bridges of their noses, clearly frustrated.
Steve sees why Chrissy wanted to talk to him.
"It is," he concedes. "But I also read the lyrics of every song by the bands with top ten hits. They don't talk about it nearly as much. They sing about other stuff. And they don't use an F major chord in every one of their songs."
"We don't-"
"We kinda do, Eddie," the bassist pipes up. "I'm a little sick of playing F."
Eddie takes a breath. Steve takes the opportunity to take a pill.
He found a way to make it less obvious for people who have something to say about it. Steve will take one from his pocket, yawn, cover his mouth, and swallow it dry. Easy peasy. They don't notice, he doesn't have to deal with people who don't get it making comments.
Except when he does, this time, Eddie narrows his eyes. Like he knows what he's doing.
Steve doesn't like that look.
"Have you read my stuff?" He won't ask if Eddie has listened to any of it. He knows the answer is no, if he keeps bringing up genre like that really means anything.
Eddie doesn't respond. He keeps those narrowed eyes trained on Steve and stays silent.
"Didn't think so," he says, and he slides over the thick stack of papers Robin stapled together for him last night. "Here's everything. Read it. Tell me if you like it. I'm only helping you if you give a shit. This goes two ways, and I don't want to waste my time if you think I'm wasting yours."
Eddie doesn't take the stack, but the drummer, sitting next to him, tugs them closer. "Thanks."
"Let me know tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Jeff says, eyebrows raised.
Steve forgets that most people don't actually take advantage of their twenty four hours.
"End of the week," he says instead, and he relaxes when Jeff does.
The drummer starts flipping through the pages while the bassist looks over his shoulder.
"Need anything else from me?" Steve asks Chrissy.
"I don't think so," she says. "I'll call you back to set up a time for Saturday."
He's amazed by the fact that someone as sweet as her works with someone as pretentious as Eddie.
"Sounds good," he says, and he walks out, trying to ignore the feeling of Eddie's eyes on him as he goes through the door.
It only halfway works.
The pill should kick in soon, within a half hour, maybe shorter because of the coffee. Maybe he'll write something. Maybe he'll work on the piano melody he's been tinkering with for the past week. Maybe he'll read the latest book Robin picked up from the library, something interesting enough to be worth the frustration of the moving letters, something that will still fill the time.
He'll make it to seventy two hours. Then he'll crash because his body is a worthless piece of shit, and he hopes this is the half of the time when he doesn't have any goddamn nightmares.
Maybe he should pop another pill, just in case.

We're Not in CW Anymore - 4
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3
The reader gets blasted into another universe - one where Sam and Dean Winchester are real people, real hunters, and really fucked up. To her surprise (or horror), Dean has been getting glimpses of her life in his dreams and is completely enamored with her. It's nothing like the cable-friendly CW show that she knows and loves.
Reader x Dean Winchester
Warnings: language, violence
Tumblr media
Chapter 4: Target: Expect More. Pay Less.
You woke up to the sound of the most annoying alarm you’ve heard in your life. You groaned. “Please turn it off,” you complained. You heard Dean flail his arm around until he hit the snooze button. “Thank god,” you said, snuggling into your pillow. Why was your pillow so hard? Maybe because it was Dean. You quickly realized what was happening – your head was on Dean’s chest, hand resting on his bicep. His arm was wrapped around your waist tightly. You were CUDDLING with this man. With a jolt, you sat up.
“What the fuck?!” you yelled.
“What the fuck me?! What the fuck YOU!” Dean yelled back. “You were on ME, sweetheart. I think that makes you the more guilty party.”
“Ugh!” was all you could respond. He had a point, as infuriating as it was.
Scrambling off the bed, you tripped over the ridiculously long sweatpants and almost faceplanted into the floor. Dean was making you very flustered, and that was pissing you off. You’re supposed to be keeping your guard up with this guy, not snuggling him. You walked over to his desk, grabbing the pile of your neatly folded clothes. “I need more clothes,” you stated. You weren’t too keen on wearing the same outfit over and over. A clean pair of panties would be nice.
“I’ll give you a card and you can go shopping. Just don’t go too crazy,” Dean said. You rolled your eyes. You were planning on hitting up a Target, not Nordstrom. You headed to the bathroom to get ready for the day, replaying everything in your head. It felt so strong and comforting to be in his arms. The feeling of his rock-hard chest gave you butterflies. You wanted to lie there with him all day and trace your fingertips over his tattoos. No, you thought, you still don’t know this guy. He could be a cold-blooded killer.
You walked back into Dean’s room to find him putting on his boots. You took a moment to admire his tattoo sleeve – you recognized a few references to classic rock band album covers. You wondered if that was the only place he had tattoos.
“Like what you see, sweetheart?” Dean teased. You had no idea how long you’ve been staring.
“Just curious about your tattoos,” you answered honestly. You couldn’t think of a snarky response.
“What, TV Dean wasn’t tatted up?” he asked. You shook your head.
“Just that anti-possession symbol on his chest,” you answered. He chuckled and pulled his t-shirt down enough for you to see the same tattoo in the same place. “Like this?”
“Yeah, that’s the one.” You rolled your eyes. Why did he have to be this charming?
“Alright,” he said, clapping his hands together, “Sammy’s got a case, and you need to go shopping. Let’s get to it.”
Dean dropped you off at Target while he and Sam went on a supply run. You bought all the essentials – some leggings, a few tops, underwear, socks, a duffle, and you had to splurge on a little eyeliner. It’s not for Dean, it’s for me, you told yourself. You checked out and called Sam, letting him know you were done and ready to be picked up. To your relief, he told you they’re already on their way. You sat on a bench outside with your bags, flipping through social media on your phone. You weren’t following anyone, but you could at least watch the reels. You were entranced with the videos of the bottles going down the stairs, so much so that you barely noticed a figure standing in front of you. Looking up, you saw a tall man with a snapback and a crooked smile. “Hey there baby. Waitin’ on someone? Mind if I join you?”
Great. You literally had nowhere to go, so you’d be stuck with this douche-canoe. You could tell him to fuck off, but the people pleaser in you was scared of how he’d react. You’re not scared to sass Dean, you told yourself. Maybe you were more comfortable around him than you thought. Disrupting your thoughts, the guy sat next to you on the bench, leaning back and placing an arm around your shoulders. Screw this so hard.
“Please don’t touch me,” you said, voice shaking. Way to be assertive.
“Baby I think you’d better come home with me. You can show me all those pretty clothes you bought. I wouldn’t mind watching you undress.” You cringed, not seeing a way out of this situation.
Like a knight in shining armor, you watched as the Impala drove up to the front of the store. Bolting up and grabbing your bags, you hurriedly mumbled, “Sorry, there’s my ride.” Except he grabbed your wrist and yanked you back to face him.
“I think you’re just trying to blow me off, which I really don’t appreciate. Where are your manners?” he seethed. This dude was seriously nuts if he thought you were coming home with him. Before you could say anything, you heard a car door slam.
“Hey dipshit, get your hands off of her before I rearrange your fucking face!” Dean was PISSED. He was coming right at him, fists clenched, the look in his eyes absolutely terrifying. Yeah, Dean was a scary motherfucker. But it kind of turned you on how protective he was being.
“Woah hey man, we’re cool. We were just talking, weren’t we?” the man turned toward you as if you’d back him up. You, however, had your eyes fixed on Dean’s.
“Let’s go,” you said quietly. Dean wasted no time in putting his arm around your shoulders and walking you to the car, but not before sending a swift punch to the man’s gut. You didn’t look back but could hear him groaning and yelling profanities. Dean opened the door for you, grabbing your bags to throw them in the trunk. Flipping off the man as a final “fuck you,” Dean sped out of the parking lot.
“You good?” Sam asked. You nodded, knowing your voice would quiver too much if you tried to talk. Dean simply grunted, not wanting to open his mouth and scare you with his anger. The car ride was silent for about an hour. Dean kept checking on you, looking through the rearview mirror. He was worried. You looked out the window, desperately trying to calm yourself down. The entire situation had you shaking. The fear you felt with that man, then Dean’s booming voice, it was a lot to process. You immediately felt safe when you saw Dean pull up in the Impala. You instinctually knew he’d protect you, and that thought bounced around your head for a while. Maybe this whole soulmate thing was real.

I wanted to try this x reader Hc thing out
Lucifer + Adam x Reader with sensitive hearing
Lucifer, canon au
- At first, the songs he breaks into are pretty loud , he can’t help it! He gets so excited and loves to go all out. However , the songs usually end in a broken abrupt chord once he sees you wince /in pain
- He tends to forget you have sensitive hearing constantly. He feels so guilty and berates himself mentally for it :<
- However, he does try to make up for it by buying you only the BEST noise canceling headphones, those very nice comfy ones that don’t hurt your ear. He’ll either buy it for you or make his own! But he’s definitely not buying it from VoxTech.
- It’s honestly a bumpy relationship , so you’ve both decided to keep it platonic, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Lucifer, vampire au
- He’s much more quiet toned in this au. You actually love to hear him talk, whether it’s by how he talks, or part of his vampire’s charm. A prince of the night, things are quiet around his place. As long as you don’t venture into the dungeons-
- He only yells when he’s in an argument with his family, which by that point he makes sure you're safely away. Who knows when a powerful fight will break out, and he doesn’t want you to be a casualty from the collateral damage.
- His place is honestly really nice?? The days are very quiet since almost everyone is asleep, aside from the day servants who do their work. But they don’t bother you.
- The night comes alive in candlelight all over the place. Soft music reverbs in the air from the ballroom a couple stories below. You enjoy it from your room , or out in one of the big gardens. In some areas it’s so muffled you can actually fall asleep to it .
- Sadly earplugs and headphones weren’t a thing back then, so you don’t have fancy noise canceling technology. However, you do have a very powerful vampire who could or could not put a spell or so over your room . But then again, it’s your room, why would you need it? It’s not loud. But could he do it? It’s a possibility .
- You do have a headband you wear, should you choose to go out in the market or whatnot. It’s a little tight and has padding , so it does help to block out a little of the crowd and bustling noises . You can easily hide it under your hat /whatever headwear you have on.
- Honestly this life is so nice and peaceful. Aside from all the fighting and wars those vampires have going on, but you’re pretty protected from it so it’s sort of fine
Adam, canon au
- “What”
- “Ohhhh”
- Oh he is r e a d y. Earplugs, headphones, helmets that cancel out a lot of noise, he’s got you covered.
- He thinks nothing of it, he gets it. He’s got you 👌🏻
- That helmet of his can do a lot of things, one such being he can turn down his own volume, and makes it so it’ll do so via facial recognition .
- “So , because you’re wearing headphones all the time, here’s my new album.” You probably have 40,711 playlists from him alone by now
- “That’s so cool, like, you can hear shit other people can’t, rock on”
- The moment someone bullies you or tries to hurt you by being loud purposefully, Adam will shove them off and deal with them.
- He can play anything and everything, including soft slow notes. He doesn’t mind. I mean hey, you love his music, don’t you? Who cares what he plays as long as he can get your smile and praise!
- During private moments, he absolutely uses mouth sounds, and loves to whisper in your ears. He loves to see you shiver from it.
I will pull up a muse list so you know who you can send in asks for if you want to

literally on my knees begging for the phoenix essay because it’s my all time fave fall out boy song and it makes me feel emotions on the shrimp spectrum
ok!! well!! ask and you shall receive, dear anon, your wish is my command :)) and because i love when people are excited about what i have to say and you are very nice <33 however, i will warn you, this is less of a structured essay and more of a massive infodump, so be warned !!
OK SO. THE PHOENIX. first off musically it's a fantastic song. and its actually scientifically proven that typically strings are used to increase musical tension and emotional tension so usually when you hear fast strings it means that they (the artist) want you to feel stressed, angry, or excited. We can apply this to the beginning of The Phoenix specifically because fob wants you to get hyped!!! It's their opening song for their newest album and for them, this shit is TERRIFYING. will you still want them or will you skip to another song? It's such a stark contrast to the first line of cork tree ("brothers and sisters, put this record down") because they want you to do the exact opposite of that. This is the one they want to use to hook you, to pull you in. Fall Out Boy is back, and this time they've brought even more intensity than before. They want to know: will you still be here? will you listen? these strings are not quite the old fall out boy, will you find them compelling and stick around?
andys drum work on this song is also INCREDIBLE. It's got this pounding, heavy beat. i constantly say that andy is the backbone of the band and i feel like that's more musically apparent in this song than anything. If i really want to scrounge for symbolism, I can say that by making andy's drumbeat stand out so much more in this song, the band is saying that they as a whole are more stable and reliable, just like their backbone. the drummer keeps the beat, the pace. they keep the band on track. together, the instruments (drum, strings, bass) bring the song together into a really rounded sound and it feels so FULL. there are some songs that are spiky, but this one is round all the way through.
and now that we're through with talking about the music itself, let's talk about the lyrics. i love the lyrics in this song so fucking much. it's so pete wentz and even more than that it's the most perfect song to open with. im gonna try to discuss every line and how it relates to the album and fall out boy's history at the time of release + they message they attempt to convey with this song and album. ive been wanting to make an essay on this for a while actually so thank you for giving me this ask as an opportunity to barf my stupid brain out onto tumblr
ok anyway let's start off with the first line-- "put on your war paint". this line is repeated twice: the very beginning and the very end. Why? because it's bold. this album is called save rock and roll. it is giving us a mission to accomplish from the very start. we are gearing up for a war. this is the image that is being painted of the entire album, and it starts from the very beginning- put on your war paint, prepare for battle. the first song is us (cough, the band, cough) preparing for the war as a whole. this is the intro, the gather, the plan. because we are saving rock and roll, through this album. this is the revival. we are bringing it home. this part musically is very strong and it feels like structure. we are showing here how much power and stability we have. also it makes me think of that one picture of pete putting on eyeliner
i am skipping the entire first verse for now but i will be back to it in a bit i promise! i want to talk about the chorus: “hey Youngblood/ doesn’t it feel/ like our time is running out/ im gonna change you like a remix/ then I’ll raise you like a phoenix”. we’re just going to go over the first half first because it’s kind of long. I think it’s in interesting choice, ‘Youngblood’. it kind of makes me think of mcr’s killjoys. it’s the motif, i guess— this haunting youth. ‘Youngblood’ addresses us ourselves, full of life and blood and rage. it again goes with the plot line of the album. the chorus has a paced feel, like running through a field at top speed. ‘like our time is running out’ references again the portion of ‘we were gone for so long, will you still listen?’ fall out boy’s limited time is nearly out here. they are fighting the clock. they are years older and more mature and they’ve GROWN. their time is running out and they are begging us to listen. and then my FAVORITE line, probably in this whole song. ‘I’m gonna change you like a remix, then I’ll raise you like a phoenix’. This entire album is a result of change. Folie a Deux was harshly criticized by the media and the fans because it was a change from fob’s norm. they were mocked mercilessly and basically TOLD TO CHANGE. now, here, they are back, they have made it through alive, and they are better than ever. basically, they have changed but on their own terms. you know how a phoenix is reborn through their ashes? They burn to a crisp when they’ve reached their limit and 100 years later are reborn as babies again. This is why the phoenix is such an important song to open with from the beginning of the album, as well as a fantastic metaphor for the band themselves— because it tells you from the start. Fall out boy is the same, but they have changed. They have grown. And they are better than ever, musically and mentally. This is also good symbolism for rising again even when defeated, which I’ll touch on again later
now, onto the second half of the chorus. The phoenix line is repeated, but preceding that is "wearing our vintage misery/ no, i think it looked a little better on me". fall out boy is kind of known as being part of the 'emo trinity' which, at the time of release, consisted of MCR, FOB and Panic! At The Disco. Personally id replace panic with paramore just because i dislike brendon urie strongly but thats just me. anyway, emo as a subculture in itself is incredibly emotional, and that's the point- emo is short for emotional. (feel free to correct me about any of this at any point of time btw, i am in no way an expert). a consistent trend was a lot of black clothing and the haircuts. i guess this isnt relevant. the relevant part was the emotion. fall out boy in 2009 was miserable. all the members were constantly at each other's throats, and eventually they just called it quits (everyone thought they would never come back, which is why the phoenix metaphor works here). by saying 'wearing our vintage misery' they are saying that they are bringing back that sort of emo-emotional aspect back into their new music, their trademark depressing lyrics, but it's improved. it's a better look on them now because they are doing so much better mentally than they were doing before.
let's backtrack a step to discuss the prechorus: "so we can take the world back from a heart attack/ one maniac at a time we will take it back/ you know time crawls on when you're waiting for the song to start so dance alone to the beat of your heart". pete fucking went OFF in this entire song but this section specifically. musically, the prechorus slows it down. it gives the song tension before exploding into the chorus. the first half of the prechorus again brings up the image of SAVE ROCK AND ROLL. i cant exactly recall what horrific events happened in 2013 to give the world a metaphorical heart attack, because i was very young and stupid and unaware of a lot, but i love the word choice here. one MANIAC at a time we will take it back. we are uniting the beaten, the broken and the damned. pretty much all the big names in emo have made their alliances clear: we take in the ones you don't want. they are the hufflepuffs of music. we will take your maniacs, we will take your people. we will build an army of the ones no one loves and we will take back our world together. possibly im interpreting this wrong but. i just think that's a really lovely image.
(also, pete has a motif in his songs-- mania. theres the entire album, for one, but this, as well.)
"time crawls on when youre waiting for the song to start so dance alone to the beat of your heart" is less obviously clear about rebellion and taking back change but it still is incredibly strong about this nonetheless. you can't sit and wait around for change. you can't expect the good things to come to you immediately, that isn't how the world works. when no one is there to lead you, to guide you, you're gonna have to do it yourself. your heart is steady and it knows the way. trust it. dance alone to the beat of your heart.
ok so now im going back to the first verse. sorry for skipping around the song so much. "you are a brick tied to me that's dragging me down/ strike a match and i'll burn you to the ground" i feel like honestly this line is kind of obvious- someone is holding him (pete) back. i'm not going to outright say it was about ashlee (his current ex-wife) because pete never explicitly confirmed it but it definitely seems super likely judging by the time this was written (pete and ashlee divorced in 2011, which was two years before this song was released).
at this point in writing this essay brain barf my thoughts have become a little dead so im looking at lyricgenius to see what they're saying and it is. so not helpful. like bro pls. add some context to WHY these lyrics are arranged this way. but never mind that FOCUS ON THE WRITING TOBY FUCK
ANYWAY. the next line in this verse is "we are the jack o' lanterns in july, setting fire to the sky/ here, here comes with this rising tide, so come on/ put on your war paint". another theme constantly in Pete Wentz Lyrics is summer. i am drawing the connection here specifically from this song and fourth of july. and there it is again! put on your war paint!
fun fact: the story of the jack o lantern apparently is that some guy named jack made a bargain with satan and was doomed to wander the earth with only the company of a hollowed out turnip. again-- the wanderers. we bring in the wanderers, we take them as our own. we are the light in the darkness. we will set the world ablaze. so come on! get ready for war! we will roll in with the tide, and like a tide, we will destroy if we have to, not because we want to, but because it is in our nature.
final line in the verse: "cross walks and crossed hearts and hope to die/ silver clouds with grey lining". these are two popular phrases that have been altered in minor ways that make a huge difference. ive noticed pete tends to do that often. here hes changed 'cross my heart and hope to die' and 'every cloud has a silver lining'. this change is super important because it flips the themes of the two phrases (The Truth Has Been Spoken and There Is Always a Positive, respectively) and it darkens it. what is the correlation between cross walks and hoping to die? the cars. and by saying 'silver clouds with grey lining' he is flipping the saying to read as 'even though something seems light, there is always a dark side... kind of like a yin yang. which makes me think of the current logo, the smiley-frown. it's always about balance and it's always about an even distribution. but that is irrelevant.
and let's have a chat about the second verse: "bring home the boys in scraps/ scrap metal the tanks/ get hitched, make a career out of robbing banks/ because the world is just a teller and we are wearing black masks/ 'you broke our spirit' says the note we pass". this is the most important verse in the song, because this is where the entire theme shows the best. i think from the very start we can make two connections just reading this here, and i bet i can guess what you thought from the start. I bet you saw 'bring home the boys in scraps' and thought oh, toby is totally going to connect that to their motif about 'bring together the unwanted.' and i bet you saw 'we are wearing black masks' and thought ah, toby will definitely relate that to the first line in novocaine. and yeah, you're right. you know me too well, i am a predictable guy. because i 100% will. we KNOW fall out boy. the best example i can use to argue my first point off the top of my head is that they were initially marketed to teenage girls. they were a pop band. i mean, no one can really call them pop now (god, i miss music from the 2000s) but, yeah. no one in the rock or punk scene wanted teenage girls to like their music (because clearly teenage girls were so uncool or whatever) so fall out boy marketed themselves to them. they took in the fans no one wanted.
also, a bank teller is the person who handles customer cash, which is something i did not know until about twenty minutes ago. in the case of a bank robbery, the robber would pass the bank teller a note so that there would be less of a scene. these kind of robberies are called 'note jobs'. so by saying "make a career out of robbing banks/ because the world is just a teller and we are wearing black masks/ 'you broke our spirit' says the note we pass" essentially the band is using a bank robbery as a metaphor for taking back the world and the injustice that has been served to them, as the youth youngbloods. we are trying to take it back as peacefully as possible, but we are still the ones on the side with the gun. the 'note we pass' is the robbery note. lyricgenius was absolutely shit it did not help me with this i feel very proud that i connected all the dots by myself but maybe i am just an idiot and this is already common knowledge.
we are almost done- this has gotten long, a lot longer than i thought it was going to be. hope that's okay. anyway we just have to go over the bridge and then i'll summarize the song as a whole: "the war is won before it's begun/ release the doves, surrender love". this repeats five times. the war is won before it's begun. this is connected to the second part- release the doves, surrender love- because the band doesn't really WANT to fight. they don't want to HAVE to take in the people who aren't given a category. if we could just learn to love those who were different, we might not have war. we would have won it before it's begun. on the third repeat, there is chanting in the background-- 'wave the white flag'. the white flag is a sign of surrender pretty much universally, and it goes hand in hand with what's being said here. and again. i feel like i keep repeating this- it's the intro song. why would they say this? because they don't really want to fight. remember, the point of a note job is to attract as little attention as possible. we don't want a war. we don't WANT to save rock and roll- but we have to. it is our job, as youth- as youngbloods. and THAT'S the message of this song. we are preparing for a fight for justice that we would rather not take part in, but we have to, to protect ourselves and our past and our future and our people.
this is what the band is saying-- we have been gone for so long, but we are back. and we are here to help. we have changed, but you have changed too, and we are better, and together we will take back what we have lost to achieve peace, even if it takes a millenia, even if we go down fighting. because ultimately, we, ourselves, the ostracized and the mocked and the hurt, we are worth it. We will rise above it like a phoenix reborn from the ashes because we are always worth it, and we will always come back.

idk who to ask this to so I'm just gonna send it here but I'm conflicted.
I love Taylor, genuinely. I have since 2008. she's been my favorite person and her music feels like the best friend you've had since kindergarten, the one that you're still gonna have when you're 80 and in a rocking chair. it feels like the only thing that's never left you, been the one constant you've had since you were a child. but I don't know if I can keep on supporting her :/ with this whole Matty thing. I genuinely don't know what to do. should I just completely give up? I don't want to seem like I'm okay with or excusing her behavior. it's sad and very disappointing, especially with her calling herself a ally. I just don't understand why Matty of all people? and just to blatantly disregard his terrible human nature. I guess I'm just feeling a bit lost. anyways sorry for rambling you don't even have to respond if you want to. I don't mind if you even just delete this. I just felt the need to say it somewhere, and maybe hopefully get some wisdom if the odds are there. if you have this read this then thank you <3 thank you for letting me get all this out there and off my chest.
obviously, I can't tell you how to feel but imo although album provided more context, it's exactly what I was saying last summer. it makes sense exactly why she went to matty - he was familiar/someone she knew from years ago and she obviously was struggling after her 6 year relationship that she made questionable choices. in the end, she was left worse off. i still don't understand why her sources and rep needed to give us articles about it - they could have stayed quiet like they normally do.
with regards to but daddy i love him - I'm still forming an opinion within the context of the album so subject to change, but it is her right to call people out for talking about her relationship/life. do i like it? no. because this one feels different than other references to people taking about her relationship (I know places, the lakes, lavender haze etc), it's more direct and personal when the comments i (and others on my dash) made weren't rooted in misogyny and malicious intent unlike other comments about her life. but I'm sure she also doesn't like a public autopsy so we can go round and round. it was her choice and her name. she knew he was repulsive and she was just a woman who was manipulated and made terrible decisions when she was vulnerable. so, given the context of what she was going through, my heart goes out for her.

JK Welive #1-2 & JK/Tae IG live
People sure have their panties in a knot over Jimin and Jungkook and Tae and shipping and JK's live, and Bam, and a J tattooed on a finger and just... damn people. You act like your life depends on this shit.
To keep track of what we’re talking about let’s organize it like this: JK welive #1, JK/Tae IG live, JK welive #2, JM welive, JK welive #3, JK welive #4 (taken down, yet to see if it will be put back up). That’s a lot of maknae line to unpack.
But bottomline: Jungkook is mostly at home nesting with Bam. Leave him alone. Y’all keep making me say that. INTROVERTS UNITE!
Boy arrived for Welive #1 wired and ready to defy the employee manual that says no live broadcasts without permission.
Tumblr media
Jungkook was a little solemn when someone asked about Jin in the comments. “Jin is doing ok.” and “Jin sometimes sends us a message in group chat.” JK didn’t seem like he wanted to elaborate on it.
He wonders why he thinks of Army when he’s drinking... man is crying in his beer over us!
Within 20 minutes he was all wound down. His sweet eyelids started getting droopy while he read Army comments.
Tumblr media
Then he got second wind and started searching for something to sing for us... finds Vibe, drools over Jimin for a sec, gives Taeyang some badass love, starts to sing the song before he even gets the lyrics up on the screen... knows the choreo of course...
Rumor confirmed: Bam is the luckiest dog in the universe. Jeon Jungkook wipes his butt after he poops. Who else in this world can say that? Who?
Tumblr media
Besides the Bam butt wiping TMI, Jungkook also said he emptied his freezer so he could keep his (8) frozen beer mugs in there ready for action. And also (10) smaller glasses... maybe pilsner glasses? 400ml is not a small glass. 18 large servings of adult beverages. Priorities.
TMI: JK sings while he pees.
Kookie philosophy: if a rock doesn’t get rained on, it will crack and break. So another round of beers please. Gotta stay hydrated according to Kookie.
He attributes his being able to sit in the dark in his house with Bam and drink beer and literally breathe, to Army. Thanks to Army. You are welcome, baby!
Jungkook also says if you don’t have these three things, get out of here:
Tumblr media
Gotta admit, I was stressing for a minute over the remark that he’s stopped working on his album... but Jungkookie says he’s kind of into this living like a rock for now. He’s not feeling pressured or overly anxious to be working or trying to make himself work. How he said what he said implies maybe he is really relishing this “doing what he wants at age 25...” Good for him. He deserves to slack for a while.
At about 1 hour and 13 minutes in he pulls J-Hope’s “More” up on the noraebang screen and begins to rock out. I LOVED THAT!   Then he realized Namjoon was in the comments and thanked him for being his savior. And y’all didn’t tell me he sang Daechwita!!!! ONE OF MY FAVORITES!!!! Even though he substituted Suchwita in the lyrics hahahahahaha. He also praised Taehyung on changing up his singing style as it became sweeter. Good job! AWWWW.
Tumblr media
And he got me laughing out loud when someone commented for him to stop drinking, it’s not healthy... he says, if his body stays healthy it wonders what it’s supposed to do and it stops doing its job so he introduces unhealthy components (like beer) for it to wake up and fight inside and that’s how he’ll become healthy... HAHAHAHAHAHAA, oh Kookie. Don’t tell people that! they will believe it! Armys are gullible!
What he really meant with that explanation is: “don’t lecture me.”
Tumblr media
Bless his neighbors... who surely can hear him singing through the walls at 4:00 a.m. ...
Jungkook gave us the long awaited tattoo explanations. Honestly, does anyone think NO ONE has EVER asked him what the tattoos mean? Do you think he’s NEVER had to explain to anyone? EVER? What exactly would anyone expect him to say about certain ones? He also didn’t speak about covering the tiger with the black sun... he says when he first got them, he didn’t put much thought into it so maybe the tiger was one of those things and he covered it up with something that had more meaning. An eclipsed sun. And he got the eye because he wanted to be mindful of his actions because he’s always being watched... he says this right after saying he got tattoos thoughtlessly, LOL! He doesn’t like the moon on his shoulder and intends to get it covered someday. It’s okay, the sun is eclipsing because of the moon inside his elbow.
I’m sad to hear he had a bad tattoo experience here in the States.
ALL of the complex tattoo meanings that have been floating around have ALWAYS been fan speculation.
And, Tattoo Proof Anon, I deleted your ask because nothing has been debunked. Don’t you have a life or something you should be paying attention to instead of parking on blogs waiting for your “gotcha” moment that’s never gonna arrive?
A nod to Polyc’s incredible talent:
Tumblr media
HAHAHAHAHAHA Tae comes into the comments and JK is like, “hold on Taehyung, I’m talking about something sincere...” Bro don’t interrupt me, I’m talking to Army about something serious.
Tumblr media
Switch to Instagram...
Then, for the first time in the history of Bangtan, two members do a simultaneous Instagram Live...
The IG live... was short... JK seems tentative about doing the live in Instagram... man was all “don’t tell me what to do” while on Weverse but  Instagram has him questioning his morals. Tae smiles big when he sees Bam, apparently having not seen him in a while. Tae makes a little snarky “if it makes money comment” about it and then after playing with the Instagram filters and remarking that Weverse needs to make a zoom feature so they can all be on at the same time because two is not enough, Tae said “I gotta sleep, peace out.” Later, bro.
Tumblr media
Back to Weverse...
Tumblr media
Welive #2: Jungkook mentions he is going to detox for five days... and then eat something yummy. That lasted less than 24 hours as we’ll see in his #3 Welive.
He mostly is singing his heart out in between telling Armys not to lecture him.
Tumblr media
Y’all didnt tell me he (half) sang Despacito!
Someone already put a clip of his Welive he just did singing Dreamers on YouTube:
Tumblr media
I thought for sure he passed out on us.
Tumblr media
And he finally calls it a night after the sun rises... sweet (stubborn) thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m choosing (right now) not to be concerned with Jungkook’s stoppage on working. However, I reserve the right to change my mind should more information become available.
JM’s Welive, JK #3 Welive and #4 (if they put it back up), to come after the Weverse translations are provided.

Bastardane was going on tour and decided to bring along another band with them, that band just so happened to be yours. You were the drummer of another small band and when you guys were offered the chance to go on tour with another metal band you took it with open arms.
The tour wasn’t a break for your band as you were working on songs for your next album, the driving was a good opportunity for writing and banging out some good riffs and whatnot for when you got back, and when you did you guys went straight to the nearest studio.
During your time with Bastardane your band got pretty close with them. They were great people with great energies to be around and it made the whole trip such a positive experience.
You ended up especially close with the other drummer, Castor. You kept chalking it up to being because you were both drummers but on more than one occasion you two had been caught cuddling together, dancing together and doing other romantic things. Still, you refused to believe it was anything more than just being friendly...
This particular day you were so tired of everyone and everything. You dropped by a grocery store because you were running low on food, a group of girls started following you around and doing whatever they could to make your time a living hell. A random dude yelled at you when your card didn’t work the first try and you almost left without any of your things.
Finally, when you thought you were in a place where you could get out some of that anger you kept messing up on your parts. You started too soon, too late. You hit the wrong drum, repeatedly. Nothing was going your way.
Your band went to get lunch, they wanted you to come but you declined, refusing to leave until you’d gotten through a full song with no mistakes. They asked you over and over again to come with them but you wouldn’t budge and they eventually left with the intention to bring you back something to eat.
Not long after they left you heard a knock on the door and it fucked up what you were playing. You threw your drumstick and it bounced off your hi-tom. The door opened and in came Castor, although he entered hesitantly after having seen your little fit.
“How’s it going?” He asked with a soft smile as he slowly came closer to you. You reached over to pick up your stick and went back to getting through the song, starting at the beginning again. “That good, huh?” You didn’t hear him, choosing instead to just go harder until you had it right.
It wasn’t that easy and you made another mistake. This time you just froze and closed your eyes, taking a deep breath before throwing your stick again. It made it across the room and hit the wall on the other side with enough force that it snapped in half.
Seeing the two pieces on the floor you just sat back on your seat and let out the breath you took. Your seat rocked and you tipped back, landing hard on your tailbone. “Mother fucker!” You yelled, getting up and throwing the seat away as well. You were huffing and could feel tears brimming in your eyes.
A hand came on your shoulder and you turned to see Castor looking down at you with a worried expression. “Uh, I was told you were having a rough day.” He said, glancing around the room. “Didn’t know it was quite this bad.”
“Oh, fuck off, would you?” You groaned and went to get your seat back.
“Why don’t you take a break?” He asked, trying to keep a calm tone in hopes of calming you down as well. “Might help clear your mind so you could get it right without putting a hole in the wall.” He had a small smile, adding a teasing hint to his voice.
You dropped your seat back in its spot. “I don’t need a break.” You grumbled.
“I think you do.” Again he turned you to face him.
“I’m fine, I just need to get this right.” You said, taking a step. Castor stopped you, lifted you onto your drumset with ease.
“You’re taking a break.” He repeated more firmly. You scoffed and crossed your arms over your chest.
“What, am I just supposed to sit here?” You looked up at Castor and noticed his gaze was wandering. “Cas?” His eyes quickly met yours and he gave a small hum in acknowledgement. You looked down to see what he’d been looking at.
You were wearing a skirt, a tight faux leather one, one that rode up your thighs when you spread your legs even slightly and revealed your panties at the right angle. You looked back up at Castor and his gaze had fallen to your panties again, this time he seemed less embarrassed to do so, biting his lower lip.
You enjoyed the way he looked at you. Hungry, lustful eyes, a window into his filthiest thoughts.
Castor got on his knees between your legs, looking up at you for affirmation that this was ok. You bit your lip and give him a quick nod. He pushed your skirt up a little more and pulled your panties down your thighs. He admired your slick folds for a moment, pressing a few kisses to your inner thighs before lapping up your juices.
You watched him between your head rolling back and your eyes closing from the pleasure. He was watching you, seeing what made you feel the best, how your face morphed when he did something you liked.
He pushed one long digit into you, curling it inside you until he heard a noise he liked. He proceeded to hit that same spot over and over again, relishing the way it made you squirm.
When he noticed you were close he pulled away. You whined loudly at the sudden lack of sensation only to calm right down when Castor undid his jeans and pulled himself out of his boxers. His cock was hard and leaking, begging for you just as much as you were for him.
He held a hand out to you. “Spit.” He ordered. You did as you were told and spit in his hand. He stroked himself a few times, using your saliva as lube before pushing himself into you.
You let out a loud gasp as he hit deep inside you, making your stomach bulge slightly. You always thought you just liked that he was taller than you because it made cuddling easier, you’d never thought it would go deeper than that. Both figuratively and literally.
Castor gave you a moment to adjust to his size, not moving until you told him he could. He went slow at first, trying to savour the feelings but soon the sounds you were making got to him and he couldn’t stop himself from going faster.
He held your hips as he rammed his hips into you, making you moan louder and louder. He groaned in your ear, mumbling about how good you felt around him, how badly he wanted this.
A knot built in your gut, a familiar yet different feeling. “Fuck, Cassey, ‘m gonna cum.” You mumbled. Your hands were on the toms behind you, needing to hold onto something. Castor moved a hand and started rubbing circles on your clit. You came hard around him, watching your cum squirt over his abdomen, soaking into his shirt and jeans.
You knocked your cymbals over and the rest of the set eventually went down with it, drowning out both your sounds. Castor didn’t stop. He held you close while he fucked you, bouncing you on his dick. You could feel him twitching inside you, ready to burst and soon he did. You could feel his hot cum hitting your gummy walls while he moaned into your ear.
He carefully set you back down farther away from the fallen drums. You pulled your skirt back down, Castor examined your drumset. “Nothing seems broken.” He said, picking up your panties off the floor and shoving them in his pocket. He got himself back into his damp pants before turning to you.
You had a knowing look, your arms crossed over your chest once more. “What?” He asked, feigning innocence. He patted the small bump in his pocket. “I’m keeping these.” You smiled at him, taking a few steps closer and leaning up to kiss him. Knowing that he’s a giraffe, he met you halfway.
When you pulled away you looked back to the mess, chewing your cheek. “I don’t wanna clean this up.” You said, looking to Castor for an answer.
“Lunch?” He asked, holding a hand out for you to take. You happily accepted the offer and followed him out of the studio.

@eucyon Oh my god tumblr ate your ask I’m so lucky I screenshotted. So mad I have to type again . Thank you so much for dis question it’s so fun and made me really think to be honest ^__^ ILYSMMMM this is long but it’s too fun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Lynx’s most popular album, Conspiracy Theories. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have a pic of lynx as the cover even if it’s silly. I really like rabbit imagery in music anyways though so I think it’s nice. I was inspired by Alice In Chains album covers and also fleshwater’s ‘we’re not here to be loved’. I tried to find a way to make it more 'gritty' but I couldn’t unfortunately 😭 I like how the title looks, like they just got a label maker and smacked it on..heheh
I imagine that this album is about relationship anxiety, betrayal, resentment, anti social tendencies, infidelity, and aliens. Probably not little green men, maybe more like the thing kind of fleshy imagery. Definitely appealing to atlas and scotch in different ways. Tool’s Undertow is a good example (off the top of my head..) of the sound I’m thinking of, so… prog? Or at least heavily inspired. I’m bad with genres heheh
im currently trying to either become okay with roadkill's name, or decide on a new one.. so im not making any album covers for them yet lol but i will post when i do..
I think roadkill would take a lot of inspo from their fave band so their style is probably heavily influenced by Lynx. Scotch adds a lot of sampling, distortion, whatever..idk I don’t make music.. and atlas is a big fan of slow tempo and bass. think its important to note that atlas doesnt play bass like a bassist in this album, he plays it more like a guitarist. kind of. hope that makes sense. I’ve always been really torn about roadkill’s genre, it’s been everywhere and tends to change. scotch and atlas’ styles would be vastly different if they were solo, so I think that’s why i am so indecisive . I think I just have to keep reminding myself that they’re in a band together, so styles would be mixed.
A part of me is like.. I think roadkill’s first album would be reminiscent of faith no more’s ‘the real thing’, or even some of Primus' stuff in some sense, plus similarities to Lynx and influences of industrial. i know thats a lot of random descriptions. I kinda think of (here’s a goofy genre for ya) sludge metal bands’ instrumental style, not necessarily vocal style... its hard to describe a band that doesnt exist. LMFAO
right now im thinking about 'the pot' by tool as a close example of roadkill.. im having a hard time finding artists that match scotch's vocal range even remotely. also doesnt help that the bands im basing this off of like tool and FNM dont exactly...fit into genres very neatly. roadkill and lynx wouldnt either. HAH. i just know it wouldnt be that high quality but definitely obvious theres a lot of passion in it. i mean this is just an album made by guys who dontknow what theyre doing. like at all. lol
Roadkill’s sound changes quite a bit their next album when seraph is involved. It becomes a lot more ummmm I guess palatable to more people? I don’t exactly know what I mean by that. Ok. LOL. I’ll think about it.. but this is around when Scotch realizes he wants this to be his job. Having Seraph helps A LOT with building a more dedicated and bigger audience, since they’re the one most willing to make changes. Plus they’re in art school, I feel like they’d have connections. So I guess roadkill would sell out in a way.
if you asked me this question a year ago i would have had a completely different answer. i wouldve probably said roadkill is pop punk or garage rock or something. i have trouble fitting scotch and atlas into a genre together. it fits scotch just fine and i think he would enjoy it, but its not roadkill.. also ive been thinking of stylizing roadkill as rdkill.. lmk wat u think.. im unsure about the name is generalHAHA. i know this is a lot so dont feel pressured to reply to everything LMAO im just thinking out loud. and drawing connections between genres that completely do not make sense. peace and LOVE<3

Queen Gazette, "Back at the Hotel Sleazy", 9 jun 1976. By Ann Finnegan.
For all those fans who were misled by the media,
Queen did not spend a couple of days-relaxing on sunny
Perth beaches - it rained the whole bloody time they
were there. (In Melbourne the hotel was 'besiged' by
fans, who to quote Pete Brown — Queen's personal
manager - seemed to be emergirig'from the wood work).
Not to be put off however, by the Australian conditions
Freddie Mercury (lead vocals and keyboards) attended
the press conference in white pants and a simply
sumptuous summer synthetic top with delicate butterfly
sleeves curling gently over his shoulders. He was
even more beautiful than Sophia Loren.
They were all quite chatty only Roger (Meddows-
Taylor, the drummer) would keep interjecting, usually
over John Deacon (bass) who said not an audible word.
Q&A :
Press: WouId you describe your music as mock opera?
Freddie: They call it cock-opera back home.
Roger: I suppose because the vocals are in the 'grand
style'.
Press: When is your next album coming out?
Freddie: We'll have a rest and think about it..
Roger: We just don't bung'em together.
Brian: We don't sort of write sitting in hotel rooms
you know.
Freddie: We gather influences.
Press: Your music has been described as snob rock
What do you think?
Freddie: I couldn't describe our music as anything. We
certainly don't put across that this it intelligent
music that is on a completely different level
to the people who come to it.
Roger: It's written for the people. That's what it's
all about.
Press: The theme of death recurs on your albums
Why this preoccupation?
Roger: Freddie's morbid mind.
Press to Freddie:Do you consider yourself a sex-symbol?
Freddie: You're joking dear. I'm just a singer dear
Press to Roger: Do you consider yourself a superstar?
Roger: As meaningless, (blows kisses)
Roger on the media - absurd for a magazine to combine
bine rock and politics.
Press: Roger, you're noted for your amazing screams.
Freddie: It's a controlled scream. I'd rather call it art.
Undauted by the fearless Australians they continued
talking about their lyrics and the esoteric implication
Roger: Freddie just loves the word 'Beelzebub .
Freddie: yes, well, Brian's got a taste for unusual words.
Roger: You talking about dandling on your knee and
things?
All four of them write songs and each has at least one
song on 'A Night At The Opera'.
Brian: It's very difficult to talk about our songs as a
group because we all have different ideas of
what the songs are about.
Roger: No we don't.
Freddie: Roger's the sensitive one. 'I'm in love with
my car' is the most sensitive song on the
album (Night At The Opera).
Roger did tend to sit there pouting at the bows on his
pink lame gym-boots. One hardly noticed the dark
roots in this gold angelic hair. We did ask, but unfortunately
Roger didn't have a pic of himself in the gym boots.
Roger was later accosted by David Essex fans in
the foyer of the hotel, who wished to know if he was a
popstar, girls now have Roger's autograph Back
to the lyrics....
Freddie: Every song is written by one of us and means
something special to each one of us. Certain
songs have a very literal meaning and can be
understood straight away. Then there are some
songs that can be taken on a lot of different
levels.
He describes a lot of his songs as fantasies. 'We want to
consciously lose ourselves. There are certain things we
want to escape from in our lives or whatever.' He feels
that people should create their own private fantasies
from the images in his songs and so doesn't like to talk
about what they mean to him. 'I'd hate to shatter someone's
illusion. If I listen to somebody's songs I conjure
up a fantasy of what its about and I like to keep it that
way.'
He elaborated further .. . 'Lyrically it is helpful to use
certain words. You see it depends .... sometimes I want
to use words that are phonetically useful. In the beginning
they're surface words but you entwine them into
the meaning of a song. That's what I mean about
different levels.'
Brian May has a different approach to his songs, 'There's
usually something serious behind them, but I feel a big
responsibility not to over-indulge in ideologies. In
'White Queen' I was very interested in that significance
of Queens and White Ladies in English folk lore. The
song started off as a personal experience, the frustration
of not being able to communicate, I was thinking about
Robert Graves' White Goddess' and that became involved
in the song. '
Roger:
Brian:
Romantic slush.
Our 'Now I'm Here' song is really about our
first American tour. A big experience for anybody.
It's a conglomeration of all the experiences
we had on that tour. We had a great
time with Mott the Hoople. I suppose they
taught us to be a touring band.
We're very critical about each other and very
cynical. We don't get deeply into meanings
because you're living
have to
do it it all the time. You
me on
With the stage show the band is doing something
different to stimulating their records.
Brian: "You don't
get up there and behave like you do in the street. You
go up there to entertain people and give them some kind
of excitement". They have rearranged some of their
songs especially for stage performance, including a medley
of 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Killer Queen', 'Black Queen'
and 'Leyroy Brown', which grinds down into 'March
of the Black Queen' and then skips out on a lighter
note which features Brian on genuine Japanese ukulele.
The brilliant solo Brian performs in 'Brighton Rock',
with sweet high Paganini frills and harmonies, stimulating
two or three guitars on stage, is in a style he has
evolved himself. He got the idea the first time he was
in a recording studio.
Says Brian: "It was my first
experience of doing multi-tracking. It happened to be
in the cannon-things which repeat themselves. You play
one, then you play the same over the top of it after a
time interval. Later we started to do those things on
stage but there was the problem of how to do it. We
started having a single delay and then another one over
the top of it. Then afterwards you do another repeat on
the second. You can then do three part harmonies
with yourself. We started to base it all on ten second
solos and it grew and grew. There's a lot of other people
doing it now and I'm glad because its a thing you can
play around with.'
In the stage arrangement of "Prophet's Song' Freddie
uses a similar echo feedback system which multiplies
his voice into a celestial choir. His voice floats as a vision
- "Listen to the madman' - while Brian plays some
beautiful guitar.
Brian describes their encore performance as the time
when the band really unwinds. "It's nice at the encore
to just completely unbend and make a fool of yourself.
It gets rid of the tension between the band and the
audience. I used to get a kick out of going to concerts
to see rock groups like the 'Who' and feeling involved,
like the group knew you were there. We go by the kinds
of things we think people would like at an encore. It's
at a very basic level really, an energy level, a physical
level. Rock and Roll is kind of a body music. I get as
much satisfaction out of basic rock'n roll like Status
Quo as the most sophisticated music I know.'
The audience certainly enjoyed it and really let
loose their energy.
Roger (who claimed the most female
screams) in rainbow mop-wig opened the encore wjth
slow heavy rock-beat as Freddie did a dramatic entrance
in a silk kimono. As he eased into 'Big Spender', he
peeled off to striped hot pants for an outrageous version
of 'Jailhouse Rock' - simple hard-driving rock'n'roll
that had everybody out of their sets.
gettin' feelin' thru
transistors
Brian was rather upset that the Australian Press
should see them as a manufactured band. If 'Bohemian
,Rhapsody' can be seen as incorporating the spectrum of
theirs talent - mood changes, heavy stuff, the soft
it is not because they (men of letters from
universities) have developed a magic 'X' formula
can be seen as a musical progression,
working of motifs off their other albums. Brian can
y say that, ' They obviously didn't see us in the earl-
stages.
We started playing because
I vision that we thought was
over a year and a half we were playing
usally you gather people around who
the way it happened.
We're very lucky really
have the kind of audience who are attentive
to directions we choose to follow. One of us
end up with a song and we'll say, yeah it needs
that kind of treatment and maybe that turns out to be
something you call heavy and sometimes something
which is light.'
To get back to the charge that they are a manufactured
band, while he doesn't like it, he can only take it as
a compliment that they think the band is so good. He
doesn't consider himself a technician "technically I've
stayed the same for the last six or seven years. Progress
is what you feel and what you are putting across. That's
what playing is about for us.'
Freddie: There's a lot of music there too.
Roger: A bit of music, yeah.

I know Louis seems pretty dead-set on touring forever (support for this claim: He clearly loves touring. At 22:09 of fitf Zach Sang interview, he said that the main purpose of FITF is to "sell another tour"/ "carry on touring"; "Ask me in 3 years, I doubt that that will change")
Do you think he'd ever release an album that *isn't* designed for the live shows? I would love for him to release even just an EP of songs like Too Young, SBAS, OTB, Two of Us acoustic, etc... More tender/stripped down songs like that that aren't as rock-y or upbeat, more about the lyrics, and more focus on just his voice. I absolutely adore LIVE and FITF. i think FITF is objectively (and subjectively) better than Walls, but I can't help but miss his sadder-sounding songs.
He said something like he doesn't like that Walls is too sad or something, I forgot what he said exactly, and that's why he wanted to give more of a hopeful vibe for FITF. I'm not saying he should write songs that are pointedly about his grief (I think that kind of thing is embedded in his songs), but... just sadder-sounding songs that will effectively make me, well, sad. Songs where he can vent, or write some devastating lyrics. I got the impression that he took a step back from being vulnerable in his music from Walls to FITF, and keeping the song meanings to himself rather than giving them their definitive explanations. That's just my opinion, though. FITF had sad songs but they're sad bops you can absolutely groove to. Lovely.
This got long, sorry! Next album, I'd want him to continue with the lively and rock-inspired songs! I actually want him to double-down on the rock sound (which I'm aware may alienate the pop-loving section of the fandom, but let's see). For the sad songs, I'm thinking more years down the line and a bit far into the future Haha. Maybe this will make the fandom depressed? 😭 What are your thoughts on this?
I don’t know that Louis is avoiding sad songs on purpose (because Chicago, Saturdays, and Hoth are devastating) but that he felt like people became too focused on his own personal history and tragedies. I feel like it became a little uncomfortable to have to explain what the songs mean, and then songs become more like a soap opera from one season to the next, with fans focusing on discord, personal disagreements and shade, rather than the broader meaning behind the songs.
Louis isn’t a rock n roll guy who hides behind bravado. He realizes his charisma, but in a way, he’s not hiding behind it, and he doesn’t really buy into the hype like some of the other guys from One Direction. It gets a little weird sometimes because we all knew them when they were kids, before their fame, and now fame has turned some of them into another species altogether.
Songwriters who are lyricists first have an obsessive sort of mentality, so I’m sure Louis will come back to the more interior songs.

Louis mentioning Arctic Monkeys during Faith in the Future promo
Euphoria Magazine interview, Sept 1 2022:
The album immediately switches it up and dives straight into “Written All Over Your Face,” an infectious indie floor-filler that we both agree is reminiscent of the first two Arctic Monkeys albums. “I’m a big fan of that sound, big fan of that energy,” Tomlinson says. “I went into the room with these people I’ve done a few sessions with, and I said, let’s try and take this as punk as I can get away with. I suppose that’s where the Arctic Monkeys reference comes from; there are obviously punk elements within what they do.” At just two and a half minutes long, Tomlinson confesses it wasn’t a song he was trying too hard with. The aim was to create a “punchy energy,” declaring this was another song he could imagine performing live.
Alternative Press interview, Sept 6 2022:
That incorporation of dance melodies is something that erupts on “Out of My System,” a pulsating, punk-tinged Arctic Monkeys-inspired track that recalls the heyday of early aughts indie rock. The day Tomlinson made the track, he had been listening to “Teddy Picker” or “Dancing Shoes” (he can’t quite remember), but he knew exactly what kind of music he wanted to make. “I went in and said, ‘Let's try to write a song that is as punk as I can get away with,’” he recalls. And he led with that kind of intensity and energy from early Arctic Monkeys albums to craft the song.
Interview for 98.5 KRZ, Sept 19 2022:
[What would your theme song be (a song that would play whenever you walked into a room)?]
I’ve got no idea. No idea! It’s almost like what would be a boxing walk out. Maybe Teddy Picker, Arctic Monkeys?
Jack Saunders Show on BBC Radio 1, aired Sept 25 2022:
Jack: Last time you were here, you were in 2019, [...] and we played this game, called "Keep or delete?". Do you remember what happened during that game?
Louis: Not specifically, I do remember the game.
Jack: Ok. Let's see if this docs your memory [replays the 2019 game which Louis says he would get "delete" Arctic Monkeys' "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor"]
Louis: I must've turned up drunk that day, I must have, honestly. That's a crime! What was The Strokes song? What was it again? Did you know? (...) It's a though pick, but I don't imagine why I picked that? "I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor" is a super nostalgic song for me, to be fair.
(...)
Jack: [The chorus is] the first thing that I thought when I listened to [Bigger Than Me]. I was like 'This chorus feels so big'. For you, those kinda of like big and kinda of indie choruses that you think about, what comes to mind? The ones that you always hammer or sing along? That kinda of thing...
Louis: You know what, the irony is the first thing that comes to me mind in terms of a chorus that I can remember singing, is ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor’, which I cancelled the last time I was here, like an idiot!
Jack: [laughs] I'm not surprised, man, that is essential, a banger, isn't it?
Louis: It is, it is!
Jack: You worked with [producer] Mike Crossey on this one (...) Now, look, I've got a list of the credentials to display. He's worked with [lists artists] Arctic Monkeys - you can tell Mike you got rid of one of his songs--
Louis: No, no, I didn't, I didn't !
(...)
Jack: Louis, one more thing before you go (...) I'm gonna give you a chance of redemption
Louis: I like it
Jack: Would you like to bring [I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor] back?
Louis: One hundred percent, man!
Billboard.com interview, Nov 11 2022:
11. What’s your favorite album to listen to from top to bottom?
AM [by] Arctic Monkeys has got to be up there. Probably [their] Favourite Worst Nightmare, as well. Those two albums were absolutely massive for me growing up, so yeah, let’s go with them. Trying to think of a more recent one. The Snuts’ debut album, I absolutely loved. I loved their follow up as well.
LADbible TV Ask the Audience, aired on Nov 11 2022:
[If (you) were part of another band (which one would it be)]
It’s an hard question to answer, really. I mean, I fucking love Arctic Monkeys, just down the road from where I’m from, Sheffield.
Afterglow on Pandora, aired Nov 12 2022
On his musical influences
Growing up, as you’re kind of forming your opinions on different songs, artists, genres. For me, growing up in the north of England, guitar music was absolutely massive with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, etc.

Year summary #1
Carouselambra playing in the background How the fuck do I even start this?
I had to begin from changes that took place in this year and from what I know and recall, a few took place. So maybe let's start from the one that made impact on my personal life and that is a better relationship with parents.
I was working on that since the last year, but it kicked off good in this year. Got more into old music, got into The Beatles and parents started to be such curious little shits that dad started coming to my room to check what albums I bought and I've convinced mom to watch The Beatles' movies with me - I don't remember her laughing this much since I've made her watch "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" with me. Dad even started asking me about stuff, it turns out that now I'm showing my mom old music, not the other way around like it always was. I keep a list of albums to play her when the summer comes around in the next year and there's actually quite a lot already XD
I'm so happy from getting on better terms with dad, it fills me with joy *sob sob*
I also started buying more albums, bought some pins even and since they opened a band accessory shop I've asked about posters. They don't sell them yet, but the guy asked what I'm looking for, I told him and he said that he can get them if they'll be selling posters. That can mean that maybe I'll get lucky to get a Led Zeppelin's or The Who's poster - I'm mostly keen on The Who's one <3
With this year passing I also feel that I want to go to work, but I need to be patient. This library degree is very tiring, it's not as easy and chill as the last one was. I literally wonder how I will pass upcoming exams, especially from one subject that only one person gets? This professor isn't explaining anything, like, she teaches something she doesn't understand, I mean... Why are you teaching then?
I also started learning chords on my guitar slowly, very slowly, but it's going somehow!
One thing that changed, with me working on myself was putting a serious blockade away. Not entirely, but I started clowning around with friends and it's one of the best things to do. I even clown around with mom and dad, mostly mom though. We get stupid sometimes and it's fun!
So that would sum up my personal life I think, from what I want to say. And now to this blog...
It changed again, because all heavy metal bands disappeared and this blog became classic rock oriented. That's because I stopped listening to this genre. You can say that I kinda grew bored of it? Or that I noticed I'm getting a headache from it, but like, there was this one day when I drove with my dad and the album by Led Zeppelin ended and Metallica began to play. I listened and I was honestly bored. It just hit me that there's nothing special in it. Lars is still a good drummer but like... I heard better ones and didn't find anything interesting in his playing this time. It repeated with every band I was listening to so I just dropped out of that, deciding to stick to older music. That was a good decision, honestly.
But the biggest change on here that happened is the fact that I got so many mutuals this year that I can't wrap my mind around. I won't tag anyone here, because I might skip on someone and I don't want that to happen, but I love you all. You're making this place a lot better and honestly? Classic rock fandom is like a big family and I'm happy to be somehow a part of it. Never had I thought I will find such supportive people on Internet and yet, there you are. I'm glad I've met you all <3
That would be all for this one then. Tomorrow's one tho... Fucking hell, this will be a ride...
