Frozen II’s creative team traveled to Norway, Finland and Iceland for design ideas, and studied everything from haute couture runway shows and 1940s fashion to traditional Norwegian satchels and photos of “anything that feels crystalline,” Brittney Lee, visual development artist, added. “We try to be as thorough with detail as possible, down to the direction of the embroidery thread.”

“Elsa always has been floor-length everything, so with her iconic capes and long trains, her shape line is a very large, elegant triangle,” Lee said. “When we lose that length, it starts to not feel like her anymore.”

Her hands shake as he offers it to her, still smelling faintly of seawater.

"Keep it somewhere safe for me," he says, his voice low.

His eyes track her movements as she crosses to tuck the carefully folded leather away in a hand-painted wooden chest. At first she thinks it's so he knows where it is, just in case he changes his mind after all, but then the moment it's put away he surges towards her like a cresting wave, crushing his lips against hers as if she's the shore he's been searching for.

"You'll stay, then?" she manages to get out between kisses.

He pulls her close to his chest, and she closes her eyes; he smells of salt and surf, too, and she wonders how long it will linger.

"Aye, Anna," he says softly. "I'll stay."
