Ok so I’m new to animal crossing and I’ve been going through the nh Twitter and tumblr tags and everyone keeps saying stuff like “let me catalog” what does that mean? I know what the catalog is but like how would you add someone else stuff to yours? I just don’t understand ahaha

“Let me catalog” means that once you drop said item and user B picks it up then drops it to return it , it is now added to user B’s store catalog giving them to option to purchase it.

Certain items are able to be purchased through the catalog one added to inventory:

So let’s say I see you have a bed I like I ask you if I may catalog it, you drop it on the ground I pick it up, and then I immediately drop it to return it back to you.

Now since I picked up that bed it is now in my shops inventory for me to be able to purchase!
